Q: Replacement for Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTX

Hi all My computer was top of the line years ago The past few years my computer has been freezing crashing and bluescreening due to the kind of functionality I force it through namely the use of multiple programs at once internet livestream games The fan hasn t worked for over a year now it was choking I simply turned it off and often attempted to keep my system as cool as possible using a large floor fan Today it gave it s death knoll - freezing with video ram artifacts all over the screen I had been I messing around with the EVE Online character creator with internet playing music and Steam open naturally Un- and reinstallation of the drivers would not fix the artifacts it had forced non-native resolution it wouldn t go beyond x or something native is x and was happily informing me that I wasn t quot currently using a display attached to an Nvidia GPU quot despite the fact that the second I uninstalled the drivers my computer was GTX Nvidia 8800 for Geforce Replacement searching for and reinstalling them again I gave up and shut down to look at the power supply and when I turned it back on it was miraculously in it s native resolution and artifact-free but I ve abused it long enough now that it probably only has a few months left and is in desperate Replacement for Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTX need of replacement I realize it might even be artifact-ridden next time I turn it on Dell pre-built desktop years old Windows Vista Ultimate bit Intel Core Quad CPU at GHz GB RAM I think my power supply is max W but I m having trouble figuring the label out so I attached a picture in case I m sorely mistaken I m looking for something that works within my current specs approximately the same size as the Geforce GTX my case won t fit anything much bigger as far as I can tell and I can t get a new case because it barely fits height-wise where I need it to go As I said I use multiple programs and I especially game on my computer so I need something that can handle my usage On the other hand I am looking to completely replace my system within a few years with something custom from Origin so I don t want to be pouring money into this system So - something that will allow me to eke out a few more years within my other current specs without costing me a bundle Say around or Please let me know if you need more information and thanks in advance nbsp

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Umm have you thought about buying a new computer, yours is rather old. The amount of work, time and money you will probably spend on it trying to fix it up until you throw it away will be quite a lot.

I have come across a similar problem when I update drivers on my nvidia - the screen goes black for a certain amount of time - this usually tells you you're using the wrong version of the drivers in no few words! The monitor sounds like it has a timeout that activates when the driver blanks the screen.

You could try this driver: 64bitdrivers.com: free x64 downloads, no registration, no popups. nVidia forceware 163.69 WHQL for Vista x64 and see if it makes any difference (its WHQL certified)

pretty much any game i play that is graphics intensive. ie crysis or battlefield. just examples humor me. i get the display driver has quit and then responded again all of a sudden. i have windows 7 enter rtm with all the latest updates from microsoft and nvidia. im running two monitors both at 1440x900. and i only get this problem when i play games and this as well has persisted through owning vista as well. i went from vista 32 home premium to 7 32 enterprise. anyone have some suggestions?

A:nvidia geforce 8800 gt 512

Time for upgrade lol. I got an 8600 GT and it works great but i sure as hell can't push those new games on high, let alone ultra. Try turning down settings and play with the options. Shadows and antialiasing will be your enemy til ya get into the 9 series of the GeForce family.

Also try going into the NVidia control panel via right click on desktop and default everything and make sure the application always decides the 3d settings.

I doubt your PSU will be able to handle a 8800. If you are getting it online, it should tell you what the system requirements are for it. It probably requires at least a 450 watt PSU.

I am looking to buy a used NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT graphics card or Radeon HD 2900 Pro off ebay. The reason is I want to be able to run the Alan Wake PC game.

I know its not the newest card out there but I think its much better than the one I currently have. Can anyone tell me if it will work with my computer please ?

I have an Acer Aspire ACPIx64 -based PC Desktop computer. I filled out as many system specs as I could, but I couldn't for some, as I am not very technically inclined. Based on the info given though, can anyone tell me if the graphics card will work/fit in my computer and do I need a particular socket/connection type?

Also, if I'd need anything else, such as a better power supply?

Thanks

A:Would a NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT work with my computer ?

Well from GeForce site :8800GT requires 400 Watt power supply,6-pin and 8-pin connectors.
I would suggest you to get 500/550 Watt 18A +12V 1DC good quality power supply as 8800GT on full load requires almost 10 Amps on +12V rail.

Considering other hardware, you should be fine although your 8800GT might be a bottleneck to your i5.

You will need a new power supply. According to the specs of your computer it says you have a 250watt power supply and the video card says to at least have 450watts of power. So yes it should work fine on your computer but you will need a power supply with higher wattage of at least 450watts.

Password-cracking chip causes security concerns.

A technique for cracking computer passwords using inexpensive off-the-shelf computer graphics hardware is causing a stir in the computer security community.

Using the "massively parallel processing" capabilities of a graphics processing unit (GPU) - the processor normally used to produce realistic graphics for video games, the speed of password cracking was increased by a factor of 25 - and a Russian company has filed for a U.S. patent on the technique.

How vulnerable is your computer's GPU?

Okay, I am at my wits end with this computer. It is a Dell Dimension E520. I have purchased a NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512mb Dual DVI PCIe card for "Star Wars Online Game".
I removed the old card and installed the new one. I then installed the device driver from the NVIDIA website, rebooted and the device will not work. It says in the device manager "This device cannot start. (Code 10)".
I have done everything I can think of.... Uninstalled the device, tried different drivers, updated the BIOS, checked into the BIOS settings....
Can someone PLEASE HELP ME?!?!?!?

I do believe that my Graphics Card is in the process of internally combusting replacement about to a GeForce Can't in Australia!! NVIDIA expire? source Go7300 - that is it's about to fry This is NVIDIA GeForce Go7300 about to expire? Can't source a replacement in Australia!! the full specification for the Card also details in my System Specs Over the last couple of weeks my Laptop has started NVIDIA GeForce Go7300 about to expire? Can't source a replacement in Australia!! to develop very slow and long lag times in displaying applications and program pages For example Windows Live Mail NVIDIA GeForce Go7300 about to expire? Can't source a replacement in Australia!! is taking up to seconds from click to fully load and search for email Other applications like Skype and Windows IE plus all other Menu type sub-windows eg Help and Support are suffering from the same issue - very slow loading times Some displays again Windows Live Photo Gallery and Skype are frequently being plagued with corrupted displays such as the mess shown here in another Forum thread about screen glitches Then today I was presented with this fine mess of a screen worthy of a place in any New York Met Art Collection I was able to recover from the mess with a 'hard' close-down and two re-boots of the system The two issues mentioned above are I believe some pretty firm indicators that there is something drastically wrong with the Graphics Card that it is certainly terminal and probably close to expiration With that I have spent the best part of the last two hours trying to source a replacement card same Type Spec here in Australia but have been spectacularly unsuccessful - nothing available anywhere not even from Charity shops Can anyone point me to a reputable source where I may buy a replacement In the meantime I have a inch Acer Monitor that I do use reasonably frequently from the Laptop see my System Specs and I was wondering if I can set this up as the sole Prime Display while the Laptop Display Card slowly goes through it's death throes and at least keep me with an operative unit until I can source a replacement Display Card Break out the Bagpipes for a Funeral Durge

A:NVIDIA GeForce Go7300 about to expire? Can't source a replacement in Australia!!

Hi Tony, you may be in luck, what you are describing is consistent with a RAM failure, not a graphics card failure, the thing that points me toward this conclusion is that you are experiencing slow opening times for programs that don't require any GPU power, maybe a quick look online at some cheap ram sticks may be a good idea

I found on notebookcheck that the 9400m is ranked higher than the 9300m, but the 9400 is an integrated card, and that the 9300m has dedicated memory! i am confused because i always believed that a dedicated card will be better than integrated so i am very confused!!!

Is the GeForce 8800 GT (PCI-E 2.0) compatible with a Dimension C521?I'm not sure what the Diff between PCI-e (x1,x16,x32) and 2.0

Dimension C521:
Only one PCI and one PCI Express (PCIe) x1 slot are open and a PCIe x16 if you remove the current NVidia GeForce 1650 LE.

heyya mates,
from what i've read the main positive of the 512 is that it runs better at extreme resolutions, so my question would be, where is the cut off point.
what i mean is, i have an essentially low res monitor (technically its highest resolution is 1280 x 1024 at 60 hz) and i really have no problem with that as a max resolution. so would i see any real benefit from getting a 512 over a 256 8800 gt? either way, at what resolution do you start to see an FPS change with modern games (say, bioshock, FEAR or COD:4. my computer isnt up to crysis standards anyway)

A:GeForce 8800 GT 256 vs 512

From my experience (I run an 8800GT 256mb) you would really only see a performance difference at 1680x1050 or above when you start cranking AA and AF. If you intend on gaming above 1680x1050 I would opt for the 512mb model, otherwise 256 should be fine. Hope that helps!

I've never installed a graphics card or any real internal peice of hardware except RAM, which doesn't really count imo. So when I bought this and decided to install it myself, it made me nervous as ****.

It seemed to go real easy, taking out the ATI Radeon X1900 and swapping it for the Geforce, everything went in no probs. However, when I screwed everything back and plugged the monitor/power etc in, turned the comp on and the monitor never came on.

Has anyone ever come across this problem before or know why it may be happening?

The guys where i bought it said its unusual for the card to be faulty, and seem confused as to what it might be. Going to take the comp in for them to look at tommorow after I finish work, but wondered if anyone here might have any idea's

Thanks for any help, its very much appreciated

ok im in a position at the moment where i want to upgrade my gaming laptop.

I've been looking at an Alienware m9700 with dual 512Mb 7900 GPU's in SLI

BUT

knowing that the new nvidia 8800 architecture is just far superior to the old architecture and that frame rates are superb on the 8800's, what should i do?

1. does anyone have any info either from nvidia or lappy makers about release dates for Go versions of the 8800 GPU's?

2. I have the patience to wait a few months and have the cash to invest in a very good (around the £2000 mark) lappy, would the wait for the 8800's superior architecture be worth it in the long run, esp with new titles like UT3 etc?

cheers for any advice

Leon.

A:GeForce GO 8800 GTX/GTS ????

You'd get better frames with the dual 7900s. You'd get a better "picture" with the 8800 thanks to the higher quality shaders. You'd still get good framerates, but the dual 7900s would win if that's your biggest need.

I got the Geforce 8800 GTX, which came with some cord that plugs in the back... Looks like an AV cord, except that its Green, Blue, and Red. I have the male connectors on my 360 AV cord... Its hooked together now, with no reaction... Im just curious if this is possible or not... As I think H3 would look sweet on my monitor.

I am getting ready to purchase the GeForce 8800 (link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130325 ) but I have a few questions about installation.

#1 From the picture, I see it requires to use a power cable for extra power. I know one part goes in the back of the card itself, but where does the other half go? I don't see any port like that on my motherboard or PSU.

#2 I know it also has to use a PCI express 6pin cable. My harddrive uses one currently, does this mean I need another for the graphics card as well?

On a side note, I'm also getting a new PSU. Is the installation simply plugging stuff in where the previous PSU sockets were, or is it more complicated? (I've checked to make sure the main connecter matches the mobo)

Do you have any cooling fans in your system. I have an XFX 8800 GTX card and 4 fans (not counting the board fan, plus I'm overclocking the system) and the highest temps I reach are around 52C) Just because other games will run at high temps doesn't necessarily mean anything. It has to do with the 3D apps and how long they tax the system. Also, when is the last time you cleaned out your system (opened the side cover and cleaned out the dust from the inside and used either a can of compressed air/Q Tip to clean all the fans).

I know there are other topics about this on the boards here, but I was wondering if the SLI and the fact that the other card still works has anything to do with it. I am running windows vista. Im a complete novice when it comes to these things so any simple solutions would be appreciated.

Hey All.

Ive started saving for a new graphics card. Ive got a XFX 256mb 7900GT 520mhz clock at the moment and wondered which brand 8 series i should go for. Im thinking of spending £250-£300 on it. Are there any new cards coming out soon that i should wait for?

Its going to accompany:
Intel C2Duo E6320 4mb L2 Cache(not overclocked just yet
2GB DDR2 533mhz
Asus P5vd2-MX SE(shite i know but, ill also be updating this to something i can o/clock)
Creative XtremeMusic

Windows XP Pro SP2

Obviously with crysis coming out in a few months i want something that will run it on reasonably high settings.

A:BFG GeForce 8800 GTS OC 320Mb TV Out?

www.nvidia.com/page/support.html - 47k

Hi, if you click on that link and then go to the support section, you can download the manual for your graphic card, this will help you sort out your problem.
You can also get any driver updates which are available for it as well which may help.
Hope your power supply unit is strong enough to cope with it, take it you have checked to see that it is not over heating and your tv is actually able to work with the resolution offered, if it has a very large screen might cause some problems.
Best of luck

Bit of a noob question here:
But i am looking to get a Geforce 8800GTS 320MB for my new PC but i see that there are a number of different types. For example: EVGA, BFG, XFX etc. So what is the difference?

I have found an EVGA 8800GTS (EVGA 320-P2-N811-AR GeForce 8800GTS 320MB 320-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card) at a much cheaper price than anything ive seen, does this mean it is less powerfull to the others in some way?

A:Question on the Geforce 8800 GTS

They are not different types - they are different brands.

Nvidia makes the graphics chipset, also called the GPU (Graphics Processing Unit).
However, Nvidia does not generally make their own video cards out of their chips. They send them over to board manufacturers such as EVGA, BFG, XFX, etc.
These manufacturers can follow Nvidia's reference design for their graphics chips, and they can also add their own tweaks such as overclocking.

The key is just to find a model that suits your needs and from a manufacturer that you trust. EVGA is an excellent graphics card maker.

Suggestion: Rather than getting the 8800GTS, I would recommend getting an 8800GT instead (if you can find it in stock, that is). The 8800GT uses the newer G92 chip, offering BETTER performance for a LOWER price compared to the 8800GTS (G90).

A:GeForce 8800 GTS 320 MB question.

The 8800GTS takes 2 slots, the one it is plugged in to, and the one directly below that. So if you have a PCI card there, remove it. Preferably, remove the PCI cards from the two slots below the 8800GTS because it will get more air that way.

I recently had to have my laptop repaired, and the graphics card was replaced.

I originally had a NVIDIA GeForce 9800M GT, and when I got the computer back, it had an 8800M GTX.

I don't know a lot about the hardware and stuff, so I immediately assumed 8800 would be worse than the 9800. I looked around at the numbers, though, and all the specs seem to be the same. In a quick search I couldn't easily find the prices of both cards to see if I am getting a bad deal.

What should I do? What is the difference between the cards and which is better? I need my laptop and don't want to have to send it back in, but if they put cheaper hardware in my computer I want to do something about it.

Any help is appreciated.

A:GeForce 9800 GT vs 8800 GTX

I'm going to go on a limb here and assume something. But if the laptop variants are the same as the desktop, you will see absolutely bugger all difference between the two (<3%) with the 8800GTX being better. but the 8800GTX may be a bit hotter/use more power.

But like I said, I may be assuming too much here, I'd wait for a more...qualified answer.

C2D [email protected] 2.4 GHz
2 GB DDR2 RAM @ default
Asus Geforce 8800 GTS, 256 MB

Here is the situation:

The disc is burnt, CRC check is done. I insert it into the drive and start up the PC. It says "press any button to boot from dvd/cd" .. that's what I do.

Then it's giving me the "starting windows" logo... and the green loading-icon. After that though, all it does is giving me a black screen. It's not that the monitor is off (I've tried another just to rule that out) but that the gfx is not giving a signal. Safe mode doesnt' work, either.

I tried it with a nother gfx-card ( x800 GTO ) and everything works just fine.

My question is: How do I install drivers for the gf 8800 gts without actually having it built in.

Or is there another way to get the 8800 to work? Thank you very very much for your time.

Bye

Windows XP SP2
GeForce 8800 GTS (320mb)

Okay, here's my problem.

Recently, I had to repair my installation of Windows XP and afterwards reinstall SP2. After that, I installed all my drivers again and such. Whenever I boot up the machine, I load up in 800x600 resolution and when I go to Display Settings and click on Advanced, my PC says it can't retrieve any data.

When I go to Device Manager, it shows that my video card has a problem, so I disable and enable it, and everything works fine. I redo my resolution and everything is dandy. Next time I reboot, same problem again - the video card has an error and I have to disable and re-enable it to get it working again.

Any ideas?

A:GeForce 8800 Disabled Upon Bootup

Instead of disabling it try un-installing the drivers first then un-install the video card in device manager.
reboot the system and windows should pop up with the found new hardware wizard, cancel that and re-install the drivers from your disc or that you downloaded
( preferably the latest WHQL drivers from nvidia.com).

I have just installed Windows 7 at home and things are generally working okay.

As a gamer I am excited about Direct x 11.

Do I download it from the net? Did it come with Windows 7 automatically, i.e. do I already have it?

Can my card support it?

Any answers welcome. Thanks.

If you have ATI 5850, or 5870 your card supports DirectX11.

If not, then there is no need to install DirectX11.

Hey folks I ve got a serious problem here with either my GeForce Ultra driver or the GeForce Ultra hardware itself And to make matters worse I cannot figure 8800 GeForce Ultra, Vista 64 Problem out which one is the problem if either I am running Windows Vista -Bit Ultimate version quad core Intel processor GeForce Ultra GeForce 8800 Ultra, Vista 64 Problem video card gigs of ram an nForce motherboard and gig hard drive If you need any more information about my system please let me know This started happening about a week ago while my brother was playing World of WarCraft and the game crashed while he was playing The screen kept flashing to a completely black screen almost as if the application was being alt tabbed but it was not When the screen would flash back to the game the graphics would be skewed vectored stretched spasmed torn distorted noise all over the graphics etc Basically everything that you could imagine that could go wrong with the graphics that s what it looked like So the screen kept flashing back and forth until a blue screen of death popped up and the computer restarted itself I tried downloading and installing numerous drivers playing with the settings in the nVidia Control Panel running a virus scanner unplugging the computer and blowing dust out of it including the video card making sure the video card was snuggly inserted into the motherboard etc etc etc Nothing has worked And the problem is not isolated to World of WarCraft I experience the same problems when I try to play CounterStrike as well so I believe it is either a problem with the video card itself or the video card drivers but I cannot pinpoint which one is the exact problem This really bothers me considering how much I spent on this video card a little over a year ago I keep my computer environment pretty cool and ventilated so I would be really confused if it was a hardware malfunction but I am not ruling this possibility out obviously I also clean the dust out of my computer or times a year to keep it from building up and to keep my system running cool I have tried nVidia s website s drivers Microsoft s video card drivers and omega drivers After downloadng and installing each of these drivers I tried to play the games again and I would experience the same problems so I am starting to get really concerned about this Is there any way I can do some kind of test or download some kind of testing program to test the physical video card hardware to see if it reflects a problem with the video card hardware or to see if it is a problem with the drivers I am using The strange thing is this problem is not affecting my desktop the internet internet videos resolution quicktime videos youtube videos any other kind of videos It only seems to be affecting the graphics in my games This is really beginning to vex me and boggle my mind If anyone here has any ideas that may help me or suggestions or has experienced this same problem or a similar problem with GeForce Ultras or similar cards or completely different cards for that matter I would very much appreciate any information or assistance Thank you in advance nbsp

Hey, I've been encountering stuttering on my graphics card recently on many different games. It occurs even at low resolutions which the 8800 should be able to technically spank. My specs are:

AMD athlon 64 FX 60 dual core (2.61 GHz)
2GB RAM
Previously mentioned Geforce 8800 GTX 768 MB
Mainboard ASUS A8N-SLI DELUXE

Tell me if you need further specs. Also, something that may matter: I get a message every time I boot up saying "Computer CHIP fan fail or speed too low" but I'm not sure how to fix it.

Hello,

A while back I was getting BSOD'S and I sent in the file log to the forum. The suggestion was to use the older driver for my Nvidia 8800 GTS card. Currently that is version 9.18.13.422.That seemed to stop the problem.

Now occasionally I am getting a message that says " The windows video driver has stopped responding, but has recovered" ( paraphrasing here)

This occurs at times when I wake the machine up from standby, I might see it once every 2 weeks or so.

Is it safe now to install a newer driver for video card or must I stay with what I have and put up with the message every now and then?

Thanks!

J T

Guys/gals

Does anyone know whether there have been any comparitive test results between the two? I understand the 8800GT is a slower card but by how much?

The reason for the curiosity is because I'm near done with a PC build. I'm essentially looking to work my way up versus going BIG from the start but it seems to make more sense to go with one 8800GT for starters and add another down the road if needed versus start with one 8800 Ultra and add another down the road given it's rediculous price. Could ultra prices cheapen down the road, likely.

I would like a stutter free 1920x1200 at full AA and AF via DX10. Do you think twin 8800GT's would cover this?

They will be plugged into a EVGA 680i SLI, running a E6850 at 2gb of Corsair Extreme memory.

Thanks,
Raz

A:Nvidia 8800GT vs 8800 Ultra....

I would go with the 8800 Ultra. If you do this, you won't need to run two in SLI mode. Trust me. I'm running a single 8800 GTX and there is really no reason for me to run two in SLI mode.

I had 32bit installed fine and working properly for a long time. When I messed with the Control panel for the 3D gfx options like filtering and stuff to bump up my quality, my game crashed and after watching youtube for more then 10minutes.

I was getting blue screens and freezing and everything. I used driver cleaners, and tried all different versions of drivers both custom from Tweakforce and right off the NV website. I have reformatted with 64bit windows on, since I have 4GB of ram now anyways, and even with a 186 driver version that is stable I still crash when any type of video or game is playing within 10minutes.

Any ideas?

A:Evga nvidia 8800 gts Questions.

From what ive heard the difference between the two versions only shows above 1600x1200 resolutions, and thats just framerates. I suppose it depends on the game also but from my research thats been the only difference. Last week I just upgraded from a vanilla 6800 to a EVGA superclocked 8800gts 320MB and I haven't found anything to complain about yet. Performance in Vista isnt up to par yet but thats true for all Nvidia cards, they generally perform 10-20% worse in Vista than they do in XP.

My GTS 8800 (640 mb) from gigabyte is overheating (apparently) and freezing my computer at around 55-60 C... I know that th card can handle more heat, and I'm wondering if there's any program that could allow me to access the Nvidia bios and turn up the shutoff temp?

Also, if anyone else has a similar (8800 640mb) card, then could you tell me the temps it runs at? thanks.

Hello, As you can read from the title im looking for a little advise on overclocking these cards. I dont have funds for new cards ATM and am wanting to overclock them instead of buying new ones. I'm only looking for insite from people who really know what their doing here. So please, a small guide on how to overclock these guys keeping in mind im running SLI, I dont know if that makes a difference. Any info needed simply ask and I will tell.

A:Dual Nvidia 8800 GT SLI overclocking

I would use EVGA precision (sorry, no link atm) and just...overclock?
SLI doesn't make any difference except temperature wise. Also you can individually control the graphics cards, but thats not necessary. Just keep temperatures in check.

With the 8800gt, you could easily reach 650 (my suggestion is to just leave the shader clock in check with the core speed, I believe EVGA precision will do this by default), and just inch on from there while watching temps and stress testing with games or something.

Hi there,
Current specs:
OS = Windows 7 Ultimate
GFX=Nvidia 8800GT 512MB
Mobo= Asus P5N-e SLI
4 gb Corsair RAM
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3ghz
Samaung Bluray Rom drive

Question:
I am thinking of buying a large screen 1080P Plasma to replace 32" LCD @ 720p.

I have been happily watching Bluray with my current set-up, but can my system actually output 1080P or is it 1080i ???? How could I check?? I guess Id need to set the output resolution to 1920 x 1080 @ 60hz.
If not do I need a new GFX card??

Another related question... The TV will support 1920 x 1080 @ 24 hZ for judder free bluray playback.
Should I, can I, set the res at 1920x1080 @ 24hz instead when i watch bluray??

A:Nvidia 8800 GT and 1080p Bluray??

Yes it does support 1080p. If you go in to the Nvidia Control Panel you should see the resolution for it. If you go to the "change resolution" section, you should see all the HD resolutions available.

Mermiatwd, welcome to the forum. I suggest that you try Revo Uninstaller free version to see if it solves you problem.  I use the Advanced option.  It removes the program from the HDD and the remnants from the BIOS.  I have used it for years with great success with removing those difficult to remove programs. Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.

I'm not a gamer, but rather an enthusiastic net surfer and would like my present graphics card to be as fast as easily possible. To do this, it has been suggested that I update my card's driver with downloading/installing Nvidia's latest driver (285.62 WHQL, Win7 64-bit...4G RAM, Firefox 9). Would this be the the right thing to do?

Moderators Note This thread originally began as a part of One GT or two GT eventually it turned into a discussion about PSUs so in an effort to tidy things up I ve copied the original thread to here and then deleted posts not pertaining to the PSU discussion from this thread The other thread has most of the PSU discussion deleted and is only contained here now -SNGX Well my friend has told me he will be getting a new computer sometime soon so he thought that the idea of getting x GT in SLi would be the best preforming for under I told him that GT would blow that away and It costs about the same or even less than the x He seems pretty keen on wanting the x GT s no matter what I tell him from things like the will melt my computer or how much more expensive it is or how x s in SLi will get better performance Can anyone correct me if I m wrong about this or would someone care to shed some insight on this I do look at computers a lot and love to build them and look at all the new stuff coming out and there specs and all that so I m cards of PSU 8800 nvidia Debate requirements on GT/GTS not really a noobie I have been looking at each of those cards specifications and the seems like it would Debate on PSU requirements of nvidia 8800 GT/GTS cards be much faster but I m not very familiar with SLi so I m not sure how much It would effect the performance I don t want him to get ripped off because either way he will be paying for a video card s BTW he has about max for this new computer I chose Debate on PSU requirements of nvidia 8800 GT/GTS cards all this stuff out for him in the picture below YES I KNOW INTEL IS quot BETTER quot even though its not always true But I chose AMD because It is much cheaper and still preforms really good You might be able to change my mind though If you can get an E Intel processor running at GHZ without over clocking for the same price range as AMD Thanks a lot nbsp

A:Debate on PSU requirements of nvidia 8800 GT/GTS cards

two 8600s will get better performance at super high resolution, but if your not planning on running things in the 2400 x1800 range, go for the 8800 gt.
also, i'd recommend getting a 6-700W powersupply. i'm not an AMD expert but from what i've heard they use more power and modern vid cards need quite a bit too.
lastly, are you getting a sound card? in my experience having a dedicated sound card (turtle beach montego is nice) makes for better sound

Hi everyone have been trawling the forums here this evening looking for answers - a wealth of knowledge but none that I could find to help my situation So here I am post number In short this is an older PC build that has worked pretty much flawlessly for Not able to 8800 up GTS screen set correctly dual Nvidia on gt years the last of those happily with dual screens and dual booting Win Home and various iterations of Linux - a Samsung quot Syncmaster and a BenQ quot months ago I made a stupid error when playing around with a VM and nuked the Windows install so just switched over to the Ubuntu partition and kept at it Finally found time to reinstall Win this weekend just been but I cannot for the life of me get the dual screen back up and running properly At first it wouldn't even Not able to set up dual screen correctly on Nvidia 8800 GTS recognise the BenQ - problem was cable independent and DVI output independent Eventually through some fluke of unplugging Not able to set up dual screen correctly on Nvidia 8800 GTS replugging powering on off I managed to get it to recognise the BenQ but at x max resolution It also showed up as a quot generic non-PNP monitor quot rather than the BenQ quot blurb I used to get Through some more trial and error I used the Nvidia software that came with the latest drivers to force a non-standard resolution x - native for this panel This worked Briefly It will now work quite happily on a fresh boot but any sign of power management PNP hardware scan or wake from sleep and I'm back to the Samsung only and nothing but a reboot will recover it To answer the obvious questions that come to my mind Hardware is absolutely unchanged from working Hardware has not been moved in any way ONLY difference between working install and non-working install as best I can tell is Win Home vs Ultimate Both bit Monitor continues to be detected properly as a BenQ quot in Ubuntu so it would appear the monitor is still quite OK All drivers have been updated to the latest to the best of my knowledge Win install is current fully updated and activated Thanks in advance for any and all help Axis

A:Not able to set up dual screen correctly on Nvidia 8800 GTS

Download the latest video drivers from nvidia, a new driver just came out.

Do a custom clean install of the video drivers.

After that`s done make sure you choose - extend these displays - in screen resolution

right click the desktop, choose screen resolution, extend these displays

It should now work perfectly

I have 2 places for monitors on the back of my Nvidia 8800 graphics card, it came with one adapter that you can hook a monitor up to, but don't have a second adapter for the other slot. Where can I get one of these? What is it called?

A:Where can I get monitor adapter/connector for Nvidia 8800 GTS?

DVI to VGA adapter: How hard can it be to find such an adapter for a cheap price and not being butt-ugly? I guess this would be the right one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814999201

1. i made a clean vista installation.
2. i installed all the drivers that i can found for chipset, motherboard (from gateway webpage and intel webpage).
3. i download and installed all the files from windows update.
4. i updated the BIOS.
5. i quit my card from pci-e slot i put it again.

after all of this, i still cant install the drivers. the message that appear is next "The NVIDIA Setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit."

My BIOS doesnt have an option to disable onboard card, the only thing that i can do is to set pci-e as primary, but nothing happens. Also I tried to disable my onboard card from device manager, then only appear vga standar, and when i try to install the drivers for that
"vga standar card" directly from device manager, the only card that installs is intel graphics g965 (my onboard card).

All this time im been connected with vga cable from my onboard port to vga port on my monitor, but also i have the dvi cable from my 8800 gt to the dvi port on my monitor, but after the issue my monitor never is receiving video signal from my nvidia video card

This card was working pretty good before i uploaded to windows 7, but my motherboard is not compatible with w7 so i downgrade to vista.

Please give somme advices to fix this issue or to know if my card is not will work anymore. If you need more information please tell me.

Thank you.

all you need to do is shutdown the computer and unplug the VGA cable from the onboard card, it's still working off the onboard graphics card and sets that as the primary and will not install the new card until you remove the VGA cable.
