Integrated Webcam not appearing in Device Manager

Q: Integrated Webcam not appearing in Device Manager

Hi, so my integrated webcam isn't showing up and I'm trying to confirm whether it's died or not. I know the first step is to go to the manufacture's website, but as an Asus user I wasn't able to find anything to help me solve this problem asides from this model knowledge base.

Preferred Solution: Integrated Webcam not appearing in Device Manager

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Today, I wanted to use an application called Zadig, which replaces the drivers for USB type devices. However, I accidentally replaced the driver for the integrated webcam! Applications like Skype will no longer recognize the webcam. Additionally, after checking the device manager, the integrated webcam is now located under USB devices... My computer thinks it is a USB device now. I uninstalled the driver and deleted the driver software, and restarted the computer. However, it just reinstalled the incorrect driver, and it is still under the USB category in device manager. I cannot seem to find the integrated webcam driver  for the XPS 15 9550 on the dell website. Can somebody please help me out?
Thank you!

Starting the other day, my fingerprint scanner has been appearing as not connected, under Network Connections none of my wireless, 1394, or local area connection are being displayed but yet i can still connect to the internet. When i plug in any of my peripherals like my flash drive and/or dock I am able to use the devices but they are not recognized. I opened device manager but it displays Nothing.

Any ideas of anything i can do to fix this issue??

I'm having a problem with my webcam, I uninstalled it to try and see if it was causing a problem with my TV Card, I went to reinstall it and now it won't work, I checked the device manager and it's not appearing in there anymore either.

I'm running XP Pro on a home built system and the web Cam is an Nortek NX Vega.

I've uninstalled all drivers from the TV card and run a re-install again of the Webcam and still the same result. I've even been to the nortek website and downloaded a copy of the drivers and software from there.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to remedy this problem. It will be greatly appreciated

Many thanks 228

Hello there. I have done something that is rather foolish. I have a Turtle Beach z22 headset, and I read that the USB cord for the headset doesn't work well with USB 3.0 ports, so I decided make an attempt to run the drivers for USB 2.0 on my USB 3 port. However, this didn't work the way I expected. The reason for trying to have the port run the 2.0 drivers is because it's the only port next to my audio jack, and in order to use a 2.0 port I would have to reach my USB cord all the way across my keyboard. My USB 3.0 driver for the port no longer appears in my device manager, and whenever I plug anything into the port, my laptop no longer registers it. Is there any way to get the USB 3.0 drivers running again?

USB Hard Drive when I connect the drive I get a constant bell sound and watching Device Manager shows a yellow ! with "USB Device" constantly appearing / disappearing... it will do this forever. All Flash drives work fine (I have several).

No issues until after I installed SP3.
The drive works fine on my laptop with SP3 but it is my backup drive for my desktop!
After SP3 install updated all the drivers for the PC and it made no difference, same problem.
Formatted the drive using my laptop and tried it, same problem.

Webcam Central is the software, you will still need the driver for the webcam. is this a USB camera? When you plug it in you should be prompted in the notification area of a hardware change and have the option to install the driver.

When I first got my Compal JFL92 4 years ago the webcam worked perfectly. About a year later I was attempting to use MSN Messenger and I was told I did not have a webcam installed, I looked in the Device Manager and I did not see it listed there at all.
Several months ago I was having BSOD's which was caused by the webcam driver I had at the time, I fixed it by deleting the driver file.
Some research on the internet suggested using a program called Device Doctor. After installing the program detected the webcam and I installed a driver for it, still nowhere to be found.
Windows Vista sp2 installed

Any help is greatly appreciated.

On an HP laptop I had used, the web cam wouldn't work until a program that used the web cam was installed.

Which program have you installed that uses the web cam?

Said program was not like Device Doctor.

I learned this by reading the support manual.

So, my webcam works fine, except for the built in microphone. It is a Logitech 'Quickcam for Notebooks Pro' which is a bit outdated. I looked for the most up-to-date software but I guess they don't have drivers specifically tailored to handle Windows 7.

Anyways, my webcam mic shows up in the device manager and is not disabled, but for some reason, it doesn't show up anywhere else, most importantly in the sound settings, under recording devices. What is the issue here? Thanks in advance for any help

A:Webcam issues and errors in my device manager

Hi arianaetain, and welcome to TSF.

First of all, maybe you should visit Windows update. Click >>> all programs >>> Windows Update. Download and install all high priority updates, then you will probably have to restart your computer.

Go back to device manager and see if the yellow question marks are still there. If they are, go back to Windows update and after it has checked to see if any updates are available for your machine, look in the pane on the left, you should see something like "software updates, (optional)", select them and click review and install updates. You will very likely find the driver updates you require there.

Please post back and let me know if this solved your problem.

I just bought a Flex - about two weeks ago and used the camera once and it worked well I tried to use it again today and it was not detected by my system I looked for it in the device manager under Imaging Devices but that section didn't exist I eventually found it by enabling hidden devices and the icon was greyed out and the device Lenovo EasyCam was reported as disconnected webcam 4-1470 ... in disconnected Manager Flex Device Code I updated the drivers reinstalled EasyCam and tried every solution that I could think of or find to no avail I eventually uninstalled the device thinking that perhaps the device was improperly installed and it disappeared entirely Now it doesn't appear in the Flex 4-1470 webcam disconnected in Device Manager ... Device Manager at all even under hidden devices The option for camera settings doesn't even Flex 4-1470 webcam disconnected in Device Manager ... appear in Lenovo Settings The best I can figure is that it is internally disconnected which would be absurd since I've only had this laptop for weeks Are there any solutions that I could have possibly overlooked short of disassembling the laptop and reconnecting some possibly disconnected cables

Laptop only 6 days in use. After Windows 7 updates built-in webcamera just dissapeared from the device manager and, as a result of that, does not work.

This problem is quite common on the Internet - but there is not much information on Google.

Any ideas?

A:Satellite R630-130 Webcam disappeared from device manager after Win7 update

Hi

I really wondering why OS cannot recognize the webcam ?:|
Usually if the driver or software is not installed, you should see an unknown device? but as I understood your message, even this unknown device is not visible.

What to say? try BIOS update? I read somewhere in the forum that BIOS update might be helpful in such situation.
If this does not help, try new OS installation (notebook recovery) and check if the webcam would appear again?

I am using a video surveillance program (webcamXP), and I would like to use both my integrated webcam (laptop) AND my logitech webcam (C310) as sources; however, it looks like my integrated webcam is not accessible when I plug in the UBS webcam. From the program's perspective, there is only one source which corresponds to whatever webcam is available (integrated webcam when USB is unplugged, and vise versa).

I would expect both sources to be available. I'm thinking somehow the computer is seeing the USB webcam and just overriding the integrated webcam. Is there anything I can do to verify this and/or change it to make both available?

It's totally possible that it could be the program, but I was unable to find any settings to get it working.

I'm running Windows 7.

Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)

I am getting this message for a USB Video Imaging device manufactured by Sonix. It is an integrated webcam in an OCZ notebook.

I had similar problems with Vista and was able to fix the problem by entering ?bcdedit /set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS? (without quotations) into a command prompt.

The fix is not working for Windows 7. Any ideas?

Hi folks I had the opportunity of working with a customer on a number of other wireless issues that were quite easy to resolve However he asked me to take a peek at the Webcam that s integrated into his computer It simply doesn t work Model is an HP Pavilion dv us running Windows Vista Home Premium -Bit SP Of course the first indication he is having trouble is when he attempts to open Skype or any other video chat applications he gets a message that a webcam is not present one needs to be installed etc A quick peek at the Scanners and Cameras control panel does not reveal the device So I have opted to go to the device manager The only device indicating trouble is a quot USB Composite Device quot Opening this device reveals an quot Recognized HP Webcam Integrated Not Error Code HP Integrated Webcam Not Recognized This device cannot start quot A check of the HP website for this model does not reveal individual drivers that can be downloaded as they have apparently been included in the Windows Vista operating system At this time I have attempted to do the following Check the system setup to ensure that the device hasn t been disabled Not a trace found for this bad boy Attempt driver update No better device drivers can be found Uninstall the device from the control panel Restart the computer and wait for Windows to reinstall it Only problem is that is always shown as a USB Composite Device Now keep in mind that the webcam previously had a blue light that would illuminate for a few moments when the computer was turning on and Windows was loading This beastie is not doing that now even Finally a search of the HP forums reveals NOTHING for this issue Others have posted with the same issue but they have never been resolved Can someone please toss me a bone I m about out of ideas at this point Thanks nbsp

Hi, I bought a new laptop recently and only found out a few days ago that the integrated webcam was not working.

This computer has a Fn+F10 key combination for enabling the webcam but whenever I do this I get a message saying

"USB Device not recognised"

I hear, since I am getting this message, it is not a hardware problem but its the drivers.

The computer did come with two drivers called Bison Camera and Chicony Cam but neither of them seem to work.

Messaged the computer company but they havent got back to me in days...

I would very much appreciate it if someone here could help me out.

Thanks in advance

Hello!

I'm having a problem with my integrated webcam. It's built into my laptop, Inspiron 1525, and when I try to use skype, Dell Webcam Manager, cameroid, anything that uses a camera, it's like I don't have one. "Camera is not detected, please plug in..."

I've tried reinstalling all the drivers, and I'm still getting nowhere. I'm wondering if it has something to do with me not installing Dell MediaDirect the last time I reinstalled this operating system. What should I do?

Hey I have an Inspiron 5748 laptop with a built-in camera and nothing will detect it. I tried going into Device Manager and it says that its working fine with no problems whatsoever. I then went to run a diagnostics test on this site and during the test, a popup window appeared with me on it from my webcam and the test said that it passed. I do however, have 2 downloads listed in my drivers and downloads(Chipset |Intel Management Engine Interface Driver & BIOS |Dell Inspiron 3442,3542,5748 System BIOS). Are any of them required? I just recently got a Acer aspire 5920 notebook. It came equipped with windows vista home premium. I don't like vista so I got rid of it and installed XP pro SP3. Now the integrated Crystal Eye Webcam is missing and nowhere to be found. I have tried to locate the installation software for XP with no luck. Does anyone know where I can find it or will my webcam only work with Vista? If I have to I can still do a factory restore. I didn't delete that partition.

A:Integrated webcam is missing

You might need to resintall vista because that is what it was built for. If you do not want to resintall vista you should go to the Acer website and download the driver for your webcame and see if it will install on XP, if it does, then your webcam should be located by the machine and should work properly. If that does not work, you should put the original OS back on your laptop. Personally, i dont think you should have downgraded from vista because the computers hardware was not built for XP.

If you google the issue many others have the same problem with no real solution found to solve the issue so far....

Heres a task for someone on here?

A:Integrated webcam just will not work

Is there possibly an on/off switch for the webcam? Make sure it's on
Also look through all pages of your BIOS setup menu on the off chance it might be an option that can be disabled (if you see it, make sure it's enabled) Then

1. List any Problem Devices

Make sure devices are connected and powered on
Click Start->Run, enter: msinfo32. Click the + sign next to Components to expand it
Click Problem Devices. Anything appear?
If yes, click on it, Ctrl-A to select all, Ctrl-C to copy it, Ctrl-V to paste into next post
On the other hand, if no devices are listed, tell me so
2. See How To Report Your Computer's Device Manager Data
> Be sure that when you Save As, you do so as Tabular Text (.txt)

Evening:

For far too long now I've not been able to get the integrated webcam to operate in my laptop (HP2000-210US)(Linuxmint17 O.S.). It did work prior to the installation of LM17. I've just about burnt up Google and many Linux forums, and still no remedy. I don't know who manufactures the webcam for HP, but I'll call Mon. and see if they'll divulge that information. Should you think you can help out with this malady, please contact me and I'll post as much information concerning this laptop, as I have.
Thank You:

First and most obvious is a driver issue. Please go into device manager and look to see if you webcam driver is installed and working
Please go to start>search>type device manager.
Are there any "unknown devices" with yellow triangles on them?
Is you driver there , listed, and working?

If y our driver is missing, or there is a yellow triangle on it, you will need to update it.

Let us know if you need further assistance

A:Dell Integrated Webcam (Central)

Hi Thadoctur,
Thanks for posting.
Apologies for the issue with your webcam.  Have you been able to determine if the camera works at all?  If not, please use this program: http://download.cnet.com/WebcamViewer/3000-12510_4-75324168.html
If you are able to see your camera, then it's not a hardware issue, but rather a software issue.  You would need to check the settings in the software you are using and maybe reinstall it.  If the camera is not working at all, then if you are under warranty contact Tech Support.  If you are out of warranty, you can contact our Out of Warranty department to purchase additional warranty, or get it fixed at a local repair shop.
Contact me privately if you need additional assistance.  Thanks.
Regards,Robert

I have a Windows 7, Dell Inspiron N1410 laptop with integrated webcam. While talking on Skype, the user at the other end suddenly stopped receiving my image. Skype had turned "My video" off. Whenever I tried to start my video up on skype, the webcam light would turn on for just a second, then it stopped again.

I tried restarting, doing a system restore, uninstalling webcam drivers and reinstalling them from the CD, then uninstalling the Dell Webcam Central and reinstalling it from the CD, nothing worked.

In the Webcam properties, it says "Device is working properly." And now when I'm opening up Dell Webcam Central, there's a message "Please connect a suitable device."

I contacted Dell, and my product is beyond warrantly. They advised I try a system reformat. But is there any way to get the webcam working again without a reformat?

Dear all,

the integrated webcam on my Satellite T130 isn't working.

I am using Windows 7 Home Premium and already re-installed the 64bit webcam drivers through this website. Nevertheless, when I click on the webcam application, simply nothing happens - program doesn't open at all or shutdowns instantly. Skype also doesn't recognize a cam. Also, there is no webcam in the device manager (one undetected USB device though) and no cam symbol in the Toshiba quicklaunch ribbon, which is how the camera is started according to the "manual".

Anybody got an idea of what the problem is? Seems like a common problem according to Google, but no suggestions other than reinstalling drivers. Maybe some other application blocking the camera? Firewall settings?

I'd appreciate any support, thanks.

Regards Florian

A:Integrated webcam on my Satellite T130 isn't working

>one undetected USB device though

This might be the webcam since the webcam is connected to the internal USB controller on motherboard.

It looks like a webcam driver is not installed properly.
Try the webcam driver released for the satellite t230 or other Satellite series.
The versions are newer?

Furthermore recommend checking the BIOS settings.
In some cases the BIOS contain an webcam option where the webcam can be enabled and disabled.

Hi I hope someone can help me My integrated working webcam Satellite integrated not R630 - webcam on my Toshiba Satellite Satellite R630 - integrated webcam not working R spontaneously stopped working in the last couple of weeks I have tried - Checking whether it is activated in BIOS and there's no Satellite R630 - integrated webcam not working option to select a webcam here - Restoring my laptop to an earlier state when the camera was working This didn't work either - Updating the webcam driver - this installs the driver but then it disappears and nothing happens A few things that it might help to know - In Device Manager 'imaging devices' is missing so I cannot find the webcam driver here - I used to get a pop-up every time I turned on my laptop that was trying to load a bluetooth webcam but saying it couldn't This has stopped happening i think i turned it off in msconfig - It's not a hardware issue - Yesterday I had a weird breakthrough moment - I'd downloaded an app to my phone to try and use it as a webcam via bluetooth I'd turned on bluetooth on my phone and laptop I plugged in my phone to my laptop and the bluetooth camera pop-up see previous point came up but this time worked without the error message However instead of my phone working as a webcam the blue light came on next to my integrated webcam and that started working I thought it was fixed so closed everything and ejected my phone and the webcam stopped working again I've tried to repeat this sequence but with no joy I'm out of ideas and really frustrated Can anyone help

A:Satellite R630 - integrated webcam not working

Hi

If imagine device isn?t listed in device manager, then this means that the module could not be found. Even if the driver would not be installed, the module should be listed in BIOS as imagine device, unknown device, etc?
But this isn?t the case?

So I think there are two possibilities: the module is fault or the connection between the module and the motherboard (controller) isn?t established.

As far as I know the internal webcam module is connected to the USB controller.
If the connection drops (loose cable) the module will not be recognized in device manager?

So from my point of few it must be some hardware related issue?

A:E2 Integrated WebCam driver for LATITUDE E6510 (Win 7 64 bit)

dionisis71,
Did you recently install/reinstall the operating system? If yes, did you install the Dell System Software(if applicable) and the chipset drivers first? If not, the rest of the drivers will fail to install. How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order
Windows 7/8 is supposed to provide the webcam drivers for most Dell computers. If you system needs webcam drivers, go to Drivers and Downloads enter your service tag, then select your operating system. If your system needs webcam drivers, they'll be listed under Input.
(Windows 8)How to make the webcam work with help from this youtube. You have to open the Camera app first, and then click Settings on the charm bar to see where you can give the app permission to use the webcam.
Try reading...
Troubleshooting the Dell Webcam and Dell Webcam Central Software
You can try this file, also known as Dell Webcam Central.
Create a new unrestricted user account and try the webcam. Did the webcam work?
If yes, log out and log back in to your account and try the webcam. Did the webcam work?
If no, then the webcam became detached from the motherboard, usually near the webcam
