Preferred Solution: Can't use mouse or Keyboard in safe mode

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

You can download a windows 7 ISO onto a USB flash drive or cd or dvd. Contact where you bought your windows 7 and they will give you a link to download the iso. or maybe you can search the web for a ISO and enter your key later. I don't know if you will be able to navigate without a keyboard and mouse, maybe they will work in the windows 7 setup like your thinking.

Good luck!

p.s. I meant windows XP not 7. Iv done it with 7 I don't see why you cant with XP>

After the amazing and wonderful Anniversary Update, that fixes nothing but adds other bugs & glitches, I can't use mouse and keyboard in Safe Mode. Before the update, it worked fine. Any solution?
I use safe mode to install new nvidia drivers in safety.

When I launch in Safe mode, there is a message about "app can't be opened with administrator account, try to log with another account".

It's like this, but it only says "app", not Edge or other. http://www.virtualizationhowto.com/w...ge_admin1a.png

I don't know if it can be related. Anyway, there is a solution for this message, but it needs secpol.msc and it's not in Home edition.....

EDIT: I resolved both problems simply logging a local account, then I re-log with my official account.

Hi, i'm new so please bear with me...
I'm working on a Dell WebPC(500mhz) someone gave me (now i see why)...
running win98se...
If you're familiar with dells webpc you probably know it only has 3 usb ports & no ps2 ports...i got a usb to ps2(x2) adaptor to connect a mouse & keyboard...the system reconizes the keyboard but not the mouse...ok, i used a usb mouse instead...NOW...
the mouse & keyboard work fine in SAFE mode only....in Normal mode neither work.?
I tried control panel>add new hardware but it says i can't add hardware in safe mode.
what do i do
I hope this is a dumb question with an easy answer
Thanx 4 any help.

A:mouse & keyboard in safe mode only???

Firstly, unless the mouse and keyboard were designed to work with the PS2 adapter, they may not.

The device electronics has to support it, and some mice and keyboards simply don't

Have you loaded the Dell motherboard chipset drivers? The default Windows ones sound as though they are not helping

When I start safe mode now in Win 7 Pro 64bit...both my mouse and keyboard are non responsive...so...I can not start "Safe Mode"

Same mouse and keyboard (Logitech K260) has be running without issues for a long long time.

There is no issue when running in normal mode...and also running Acronis True Image in what I think is Linux mode at boot ?

Have tried Logitech USB toggle in a number of open USB ports and no change in safe mode startup

Any suggestions on how to get the mouse/keyboard back and functioning in Safe Mode?

Thanks...TRinAz

Are they wireless. Logitech k260.
Safe mode loads only basic drivers. Try a wired keyboard in Safe mode.

thanks in advance.

A:safe mode keyboard and mouse no good

You'll have to mount the registry offline and remove the settings for msconfig that way.
Use Google to find the entries, to backup your registry, and to learn how to mount the registry hives offline.

A:Keyboard & Mouse Failure In Safe Mode

Is the keyboard and mouse PS2 or is it USB or Wireless?
Some motherboards support USB keyboard and mouse in safe mode, most do not.
As for your keyboard and mouse not responding in normal mode; do they come back after a while? If so it is a priority/ interrupt issue. Something else has higher priority and is not allowing them input to the CPU. If they do not ever unfreeze; it is probable that you have a heat or power issue; the cpu is locking up, but the video card is displaying the last frame it was sent. Cleaning out dust with compressed air is a first step (unplug and open the case, blow out any dust with a can of compressed air for computer cleaning using short blasts so you do not get condensation of water) . If that does not solve it; trying a known good power supply to see if your power supply is unstable is the next step. After that, checking for possible shorts between the motherboard and case or replacing the processor would follow.

I have a virus, but before I can even begin to solve that problem, I need to get my computer into safe mode.
I have a Logitech Cordless Desktop EX110 keyboard & mouse. There doesn't seem to be any connection at the time when I am supposed to push F8.

Do I just need to go buy a wired keyboard? Is there any way around that?

Thanks much.

A:Solved: Safe Mode w/ wireless keyboard & mouse

You need to get a wired keyboard or else you may indeed be out of luck. You can try to get into bios and see if Legacy USB support is enabled. But I believe you might indeed need to get a wired keyboard/mouse combo. Luckily they are pretty cheap Might even be able to pick one up on your local craigslist.

How can I get it so my mouse and keyboard work in windows, safe mode, and the bios without denigrating the performance of my 20 3-8 TB USB 3.0 HD. I've seen out there that the performance of these devices is increased by disabling USB Legacy USB Support"

For example "Disable Legacy USB Support unless you need to use a USB keyboard in DOS, OS/2, or Linux"

However when I do disable Legacy USB support my USB mouse and keyboard don't work in safe mode at all.

I have a Gateway PC or so years old running Windows XP Media Edition A few and at all mouse doesn't limited mode, Keyboard function has in safe work days ago soon after having installed some Windows updates my wireless Microsoft mouse and keyboard stopped working I plugged in a spare PS mouse and in the bluetooth dialog box removed added and reconnected both components The wireless mouse and keyboard worked Keyboard has limited function in safe mode, and mouse doesn't work at all but not for long I then uninstalled and attempted to reinstall the mouse and keyboard software except that the software apparently had not uninstalled This did not fix the problem From here on I tried so many things I do not recall in what order I did a system restore via Advanced System Care then tried again using a much earlier date After a very long wait I was informed that my system could not be restored to that date I ran Reimage which reported a moderately severe stability problem with numerous crashes This program fixed and replaced files etc but got stuck while attempting to reinstall Windows updates during repairs Reimage removes Windows updates and reinstalls them afterward but for some reason this last step has never worked with my computer and I ve had to reinstall the updates manually The computer was frozen and I was forced to turn it off using the power button When I turned the computer back on I had no working keyboard or mouse and again had to use the power button to turn off the computer I plugged in a PS keyboard and started the computer in bios resetting bios to default settings No change At some point in safe mode I opted to restore to the last known good configuration Restarted and ran a full scan with Avast which found several problems and asked to continue upon restart The continued scan came up with one medium-level threat quot c Documents and settings All users Application Data D - F B- C - DA -A CBD E DE setup res gt hstart exe is infected by win HiddenStart PUP quot Without a mouse I was not able to tell Avast what to do with it I Googled the result and found that the file is a Family Treemaker file I located the file saw that it contained nothing and deleted it Next I ran scans with Malwarebytes which found nothing and Advanced System Care which fixed a lot especially in the registry In the meantime the only way I was able to use the mouse was to restart the computer in safe mode opt to do a system restore and choose the first restore point of the day This temporary fix is no longer available to me because I can t get back to that day s restore points In terms of the keyboard only the arrows Start Menu button and sometimes Escape button worked and only in bios or safe mode

Advanced System Care, which fixed a lot, especially in the registryThe IObit program is just a Registry Cleaner that will repair almost nothing, except your hope - You will never know if it repaired anything -You are better off to remove all Chinese IObit programs and only use proven programs for your computer Malwarebytes and Advanced System Care will not operate correctly on the same system, as both clash with each other Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is a proven and trusted program world wide, while IObit is forced on Chinese users as their options are limited.Do you have a Regular Antivirus program that is active and is scanning at all times ??Thank You -

A:Cannot Use Recovery from Disc/No Restore Points/Mouse Keyboard in Safe Mode Only

Look at the back of your motherboard. According to the specs you have 4 USB 3.0 ports and 2 USB 2.0 ports. The USB 3 ports are marked blue while the USB 2 ports black. If you keyboard and mouse are in the blue ports move them to the black USB 2 ports.

If that works, go to device manager and look for your USB 3 controller. Right click it and select Properties. Under the Driver tab select Roll back Driver.

Ok here's the background My wife's pc identical to my own and running on Windows XP was restarting at shutdown recently on it's own and I saw an error that said there was some kind of driver error So I uninstalled the nvidia drivers in hopes of installing the most recent ones I don't know if this was the issue but I was troubleshooting and use screen, mouse can't mode too not in or keyboard the the login safe login at to I I noticed that there was a recent driver update Well now I can't log on at all because when I get to the windows login screen the mouse and keyboard won't work I see for an instance the cursor shows an hourglass then nothing I see the blinking cursor in the login field but I can't type anything in there and the mouse doesn't work So I tried to do a system restore but it just I can't use the mouse or keyboard to login at the login screen, not in safe mode too sent me to the login screen and no mouse or keyboard function persisted When I tried to go into safe mode I can't use the mouse or keyboard to login at the login screen, not in safe mode too it asked me what was the boot device I wanted to use which after some searching I see is also an indicator of a problem but I'm not sure what it means I picked my HD and continued to do a restore to the last working config and the same deal can't login no mouse or keyboard use at that sceen So I tried going into safe and it shows both an administrator icon and my wife's user name and I can't try either because again the moust and keyboard aren't working here either I tried to boot with the windows xp disc in even picked the boot source from the boot menu as floppy and again as the cd-rom I read that doing so can sometimes fix things No dice here either I managed to get where I guess it was fixing things and it asked for the adminstrator password Well I'm the administrator and the only password I know isn't working So I'm at a loss I'd prefer not to have to do a fresh install but please if anyone has any advice or directions I REALLY need some hand holding here I'm not an expert by any means and I apparently know just enough about this stuff to get myself in trouble I can use some direction and help and I would be majorly appreciative to anyone who can take the time to do so I REALLY don't want to do start from scratch and re-install everything Thanks - MC

Touchpad OK. Mouse OK in Safe Mode. haven't I ruled out What else could be causing the issue The problem came on suddenly after about a year but I can't pinpoint the moment because I didn't use an external mouse for a while maybe eight weeks and when I plugged it in again the problem had appeared In that time I don't think I had installed any new software or made significant voluntary changes to the PC As a designer illustrator it's frustrating to use the touchpad for detailed vector work so I'm pretty crippled by the loss of the external mouse Does anyone have any ideas at all about what I've overlooked Even a clever workaround would be really helpful if there is such a thing I'll be very grateful Thanks

A:Mouse problem: Any external mouse. Touchpad OK. Mouse OK in Safe Mode.

Hey mate, and welcome,

Possible problem:
1. Mouse itself is bad. Either the button itself or internally
2. Driver is not at its best

Try:
Going to the mouse manufacture website to download the most recent driver for your Windows 7, either 32 or 64 bit. If it doesn't work, try without any driver (so that windows driver takes over).

A:Mouse and keypad frozen in normal mode, but work in safe mode

Hi Horan. Welcome to TSF!

Since you are able to boot into SAFE MODE with COMMAND PROMPT, do that and then at the prompt type "sfc /scannow" (without the quotation marks) and let it run. After it completes that, make a note of any messages and then reboot your system and see if that helps.

Also, what happens when you just use the touchpad and don't plug in a mouse? Any difference or does it still lock up?

Good day!

Mike

Hello everyone. I have a Compaq SR1954NX Desktop computer that I recently reformatted and installed Windows XP Pro SP3 on. After installing some games and applications, a few days later I shut the computer off for the night. Upon the next morning my USB Mouse, a Creative Fatal1ty 1010, stopped working on it. If I unplugged it and plugged it in a different USB port, it would say "Found device, Creative Fatal1ty Mouse, Your Device is now ready to use." However it still would not do anything. However, upon entering safe mode, it works fine.

I reformatted after this, as I thought it was my mistake, and had only installed one or two small games. However, it just happened again.

Can anyone here help me with this? Thanks in advance.

ISSUE

Keyboard some times does not work in the normal mode and if checked in
the safe mode, it works just fine
If checked it may find that the Drivers for the keyboard is not
working, reinstalling the drivers for the keyboard , downloading the
updates for the KB will not work.

RESOULTION

(try the Following steps in normal mode and then if not possible then)

1.Boot the computer in safe mode
2.Start.......Control Panel......Accessibility Options.......Uncheck
all the check marks
in the Sticky Keys , Filter Keys and Toggle Keys

3. Click on ok to save the changes
4. Restart the computer in safe mode

Keyboard Works in Normal Mode now.

Mmmmmmkay. Don't know whether to write it down for future reference or offer a solution.

I have a Dell Dimensions computer running WIN98. I installed Norton 2005 and did some Windows updates last week. After rebooting, I get what looks like safe mode and no mouse recognition. I don't get the notice that my computer will boot in safe mode like it has in the past. Any suggestions?

A:Safe mode and no mouse

Hi

If you think you might be in safe mode do you see safe mode in the corners of the screen saying safe mode. If not i would not say you are in safe mode.

If you need a good anti virus grisoft (www.grisoft.com) makes a MUCH better one, they offer a free one that is great and a pay version there's costs 30-35$ same as Norton but that 30-35$ covers you for 2 years of updates not 1. There antivirus is called AVG, I started using it about ten years ago and never looked back and never a ISSUE using it.
I would say get rid of NSW (Norton system works) 2005. Norton is known for causing issues.

But as far as the mouse make sure it is plugged in, and if that donít work borrow one and see if it is the mouse or the PS2 port that it is plugged into.

My keyboard went dead this week (mouse is fine). I replaced it with two other new keyboards and they also failed. Oddly enough, they work fine in DOS and also in Safe Mode (Win98SE). I deleted the keyboard driver in safe mode, rebooted, Windows automatically reinstalled the device drivers for keyboard but it still doesn't work! HELP!!!

I experience the same problem, chances are you have an IRQ conflict. Check device driver IRQ's.

I'm running Vista Home Premium I was away from home for four weeks and when I came home installed a raft of Windows Updates at the same time Now I can't boot up The complicating factor is that when I get to the Windows Recovery window that invites me to enter Safe Mode neither the keyboard nor the mouse is working -- so I can't select Safe Mode The PC counts down goes blank and then dumps Every time I know the keyboard is working when I power on because I can enter Can't no keyboard use with Mode Safe SETUP -- but it isn't working later in the process I can press F as long and as often as I like Nothing happens Nor can I use the Vista installation disk in the CD-ROM drive to boot from even when I've used SETUP to specify first boot from CD-ROM The system ignores it So how do I get to Safe Mode with no keyboard and no mouse

Help please.. I have spent the past 8 hours trying to get my laptop to work. I have an asus U43 series with windows 7 home edition. I was browsing the internet and my mouse stopped working. I started the computer again but the mouse will only work on the log in page at the beginning of the start up. I restarted the computer again and again but on the 7th time or so, it would only go to black.. Hours later of me hoping it would finally load, I turned the computer off and took out the battery, blowing into it like you would an old nintendo game. This allowed me to access safe mode (finally!) and I got on this site.. Please tell me what's going on.. Normally I'm good with computers, but I've never had this problem before

Thank you in advance :)

A:Why does my mouse only work in safe mode?

You say it's on a laptop, so you are referring to the touchpad or a plug-in USB mouse? If the latter, have you installed any third-party driver software that was supplied with it? If yes, uninstall that software and see if the mouse works without it (all mice will work for basic functions using Windows built-in drivers without needing to install any others).

When something works only in safe mode it almost always points to a third-party driver being the cause. Maybe the driver software supplied with the mouse isn't compatible with Windows 7.

A:Mouse freezing in and out of safe mode

First I would advise you never use a registry cleaner unless you know exactly what it is removing, they can do more harm than good.

My first thought is that your hard drive may be failing so please follow this guide to run the manufacturer's diagnostics.

Identify the make of your hard drive and then use one of the links below to get the manufacturers diagnostic for ISO CD. Burn the image file to a CD, boot the PC with the disc in the drive and run the diagnostics. You first need to set the CD drive to 1st in the boot order in the Bios setup.

If you do not have an image burner use this free software to make the CD.

I have windows xp and I accidently unplugged my mouse with the computer on q. how can I get into safe mode using my keyboard to enable the mouse again

A:get into safe mode with disabled mouse

Assuming that your keyboard is functional there are a couple ways you can try.

On boot, as soon as the first screen appears, press F8 repeatedly until a menu appears.
Use the keyboard cursor directional keys to select "safe mode" and press "enter." The computer should boot again and the screen will have low resolution with the phrase "Safe Mode" in the corners.
Boot Into Safe Mode from Windows

Click on "Start", then "Run". In the empty box, type "msconfig" and hit "OK"
After a window pops up, select the tab that says "BOOT.INI".
Look at the bottom of the tab and find the "SAFEBOOT" option. Check the box and the click "Minimal".
Click "restart" and the computer will go through the procedures for rebooting in Safe Mode.
When you are done with Safe Mode, you will need to access MSCONFIG again and uncheck the "Safeboot" box to return the computer's settings for a normal boot.

Last week my Desktop was infected with the Security Suite Virus. Using Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (MBAM) I was able to remove the infection. However since then I have an issue where the USB keyboard (There is no port for a PS 2) only operates in Safe Mode. I have tried to reinstall the driver, did not work. Tried new keyboard, did not work, old keyboard works on other computers. Tried to clean the registry, still did not work. I have no idea what to do and have not seen any solutions to the same problem I have seen posted in other forums in the last couple of months.

My PS2 keyboard decided to stop working. Bought a new one and same problem.
It will work fine in Safe Mode, or to move around in the BIOS. After fully booted to XP Home, I can hear a faint "beep" from inside the computer each time a key is pressed.
And still no characters will come forth.

I am lost

Or you could reboot, go into the BIOS /setup on bootup ,usually f2 or del key to get there ,and find the legacy USB driver option ,Make sure this is enabled and you should then be able[maybe not ] to use the mouse and keyboard in safe mode.so many different bios setups ,so im not actually sure where you will find this setting in your bios info

A:Solved: Mouse Only Works in Safe Mode

Something to try:

Go into device manager and right click on the Mouse in question (may have a yellow ! or ?).
Choose "browse my computer for driver software" rather than having Vista do it.

Point it to "C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers" and choose "Let me pick from
a list..."

From the list choose HID-complient mouse - next.

If no luck, are other usb devices working from this same port?

Power supply died on my computer.Son put my hard drive into a different case(different cpu, motherboard, etc) and the serial mouse only works in safe mode.I've reinstalled WIN98 to no avail. On broken puter mouse was a PS/2.Puter says mouse/driver are working properly

A:WIN98 mouse only works in safe mode

Foggy,

The problem with transplanting a Boot HD into a new configuration is that many "memories" about the old configuration are carried forward.

The old config was a PS/2 mouse, the 'new' one is a serial mouse. The Windows software is expecting to see a PS/2 mouse...it's not there.

In Safe-Mode, fewer assumptions (memories) are used during boot up, and fewer drivers and devices are loaded/supported. So, the serial mouse works.

Check the Mouse Device in Control Panel/System/Device Mgr. If there is a PS/2 Mouse installed, remove it. Reboot and see if the Serial Mouse is found, OR use ADD Hardware Wizard to add a serial mouse.

I am building this computer. I have an ASUS A7M266 motherboard with an AMD Athalon XP 1800 CPU, and 256 MB SDRAM. After I formatted the hard drive and installed Windows 98SE, everything worked OK. Then I tried to install a Zoom 3025 PCI V.92 modem, and my keyboard stopped responding. I thought a BIOS update might help, and I eventually got my BIOS updated to the 1009A7MD file. I eventually got the modem loaded OK. As I started then loading the CD burner and Norton Utilities, my keyboard stopped working again. When I look at the keyboard Resource used screen, it reports keyboard working ok, with "no conflicts"- BUT MY KEYBOARD DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. If I start in SAFE MODE, keyboard works OK. Don't know what to do next. HELP, PLEASE.

A:[SOLVED] keyboard only recognized in Safe Mode

[tsg=welcome][/tsg]
Having it work in Safe Mode tells me that your Keyboard drivers may be corrupt, or something else running is conflicting with them. Is this a standard keyboard? If it is, do the following:

First thing I would do would right-click My Computer and go to Properties, Device Manager tab and double-click the Keyboard list.

First things first - are there any red question marks or yellow Exclamation points listed in there, anywhere, not just in Keyboards?

Is there more than one Keyboard listed?

Remove all keyboard entries by clicking it, and selecting the Remove button.

Click OK, then restart your system and see if the keyboard is detected as new hardware upon Windows startup.

Hi

My laptop was having some iexplorer bugs so I ran a virus scan with symnatec, and was then advised to log in via safe mode and run the scan again. I turned on safe mode in msconfig and restarted, but when the log in screen appeared in safe mode, my mouse or keyboard did not work so I can't get in.

If I try holding F8 and choosing to boot normaly or under any other condition it reverts to safe mode, presumably because of the msconfig change, so I can't get back to msconfig to chane the setting back.

Any idea how I can get round this?

Thanks

Dave

Forget about Symantec. Run your next scan with Avast or Avira, then SuperAntispyware and MalwareBytes...
You are apparently using USB mouse and USB keyboard which have not installed yet in the install run.

Hi Everyone. This problem might be posted elsewhere but unfortunately I don't have time to search for it. I am using Windows XP and I am having a problem with it. When I turn off the screen I leave my profile on, but it goes back to the main menu on it's own. After it is in sleep mode the mouse and the keyboard don't work. I tried restarting the computer several times and it always says the keyboard is unplugged even though it is plugged in. When it gets to the windows menu the mouse doesn't move (like it is disconnected). The only way to fix it is to unplug the power cord for a minute and then next time it works fine. This only used to happen once in a while but now it happens all the time. Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks.

Today, I wanted to test my PSU because it's making strange noises lately under load. So to exclude that my graphics card had anything to do with it, I went into safe mode but when I did that I discovered it ain't working anymore.. All I get is a black screen and if I move my mouse, I can see the pointer on the screen along with the "Safe Mode" text in the corners "Veilige Modus" in dutch. I tried CTRL + ALT +DEL but none of the combo's bring up something.

Can someone help me out?

A:Safe mode gives black screen with mouse pointer

Possible the noise is either coming from PSU or Graphics card, possible fan. Anything done just before this happened, installed a driver update, windows update or hardware. Could be driver issue with Video card, conflict and or corrupted system files.

Have Windows 8.1 Pro disc or was it preinstalled or a USB Recovery drive or disc image backup ? Was the PSU being dead already would not of started, but still can have issue, leaning towards Video card hardware or drivers.

Hi,

I have a problem when I'm entering into Safe Mode my keys were not functioning and my pointer is hanging and suddenly shuts down ungracefully/unexpectedly. The weird thing is this when I used an external mouse then my coursor will move but my keys still arent. I think if I'll use external keyboard then I presume my keys will work also.

When I'm in Normal Mode everythings okay. Only in Safe Mode I'm encountering this problem. Any idea guys. Please advice. Thanks in advance.

Am I having problem with some drivers or missing drivers? I dont know. Please need your expert advice.

A:Vista freezes but mouse moves, ok in safe mode

Hello, I would recommend reinstalling Vista, if you can get into safe mode or disable the Microsoft Services then do so and make a backup of all your data.

George

Go to search type device manager and look for any yellow warning markers
Download and run malwarebytes, a full scan after you update
Run antivirus scan
Make sure that you are not over heating.
Try a clean boot You said that you tried this and it worked. Follow instructions to find cause.
Make sure PSU is working properly
If overclocking, restore to original
Test hard drive at company website.
Download and run CCleaner.
Go to even viewer and look for errors

Check back and I will get you some links that you can use for the above

Simply Updating it and doing a Quickscan is sufficient. Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (v1.44) and save it to your desktop.Download Link 1Download Link 2MBAM may "make changes to your registry" as part of its disinfection routine. If using other security programs that detect registry changes (ie Spybot's Teatimer), they may interfere or alert you. Temporarily disable such programs or permit them to allow the changes.Make sure you are connected to the Internet.Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application. For instructions with screenshots, please refer to the How to use Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Guide. When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings. When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:Update Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareLaunch Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareThen click Finish.MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan.If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the definition updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install. On the Scanner tab:Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected. Then click on the Scan button. If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button. The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient. When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.Back at the main Scanner screen:Click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad. The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply. Be sure to post the complete log to include the top portion which shows MBAM's database version and your operating system.Exit MBAM ... Read more

Hello I have a Dell demension running xp I was trying to fix an issue the SAFE to screen get keyboard and Blue failure/can't mode other day with a program that kept trying to update but wouldnt So I looked up how to disable windows downloading program can't remember the details Anyways it was running fine after I restarted but the next day I turned on my machine and the blue screen appeared with some kind of error saying quot PAGE FAULT IN NONPAGED AREA quot and also in a black screen said keyboard failure I tried to boot in safe mode and I guess the keyboard wont let me Also on the black screen that it takes me to with an option to take me back to the previous point where it was running fine comes up Blue screen and keyboard failure/can't get to SAFE mode I cannot use the error key to select that choice So it times out and the blue screen appears Somepne please help I'm a dummy Will a computer repair guy know how to boot it up so I can use GOBACK that is installed

A:Blue screen and keyboard failure/can't get to SAFE mode

what model of Dell demension and what are the exact numbers of the error? (this is for the more advanced tech support pple. I'm mainly a hardware and configuration kind of gal, tho I do have a fair amount of xp knowledge)

You might want to try a new keyboard, it could have went out coincidentally at the same time you had trouble.

Worse comes to worse you might have to replace your mobo (since the keyboard component of almost all dells are onboard) or disable it in bios and use a usb keyboard. Most recent bios chips will recognize a usb keyboard, although not all of them do.

Another thing to do is examine all keys to make sure there arent any stuck ones, Dells are fickle beasts that don't like their keys stuck and will disable the keyboard if it does find one.

Edit: what program was it that was trying to update? Can you recall the name? I'm pretty sure your local pc shop can fix it, but why pay them when itg might be something simple to fix, remember patience here. I'm on my way to bed, I subscribed to this thread and will check back in the morning.

Right, I plugged a wired keyboard in and got keyboard access. I then ran through each Safe Mode option but every time the page hung on a list of partitions/system32/drivers, and then went back into its reboot loop.

Works in safemode. Doesn't even turn on or have a light in normal mode. Also unplugging and plugging the mouse/keyboard into any other usb port makes an usb device failed error sound instead of successfully plugged in sound.
Works flawlessly no problem in safemode? What gives??

If so, right click and update drivers.

Hi,

I've had this problem for a while now and I REALLY got tired of it, so here goes: every time I put my PC to sleep mode, when I "wake it up" by pressing the power button, my Mouse and Keyboard either aren't recognized at all (although theres the normal LED flashing on them as if they were working) or they have other bugs, like for example the Keyboard is locked with a certain letter like A or something and it keeps spamming AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.

The only way to fix it is to pull the USB plugs and put them in again - then everything is fine! But as I said above I got tired of unplugging+plugging the USBs of my keyboard and mouse every time, especially since I use sleep mode a lot throughout the day.

Thanks for your tips in advance,

Hashmeister.

Hi everyone,

I have a weird problem where my mouse and keyboard (and possibly other usb devices) stop working after turning on my pc from sleep mode. This only happens if I have bluetooth drivers installed for my bluetooth dongle. I have looked over the internet but could not find an answer for my specific problem... My system is Windows 7, btw.

Thanks

A:Mouse and keyboard not working after sleep mode

I'm hoping you don't already have Service Pack 1 (SP1) installed, because I know quite a few of my friends had your problem but installing SP1 fixed it.

If you need SP1, go here: Learn how to install Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1)

Did you load any software which came with the new USB devices?

I am using an Optiplex 9030 All-in-One machine. I have a second computer and have connected both computers to a KVM switch so I can easily switch between the two. The problem is that the switch obviously can't change the video setting from "Computer" to "HDMI In" automatically, so I would prefer to use my other monitor as the one that switches.
However, it seems that whenever the AIO is in "HDMI In" mode, the keyboard and mouse inputs are disabled. I can see why this might be done, but it's still not very convenient. I'd like to know if there is any way to disable this feature so that I can keep using my mouse and keyboard on the other monitor. I looked for BIOS settings, but I didn't find anything obvious. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
Thanks!
