XFX AMD Radeon and Aspire x1301

Q: XFX AMD Radeon and Aspire x1301

Hi, I'm trying to install the XFX Radeon HD 5450 1GB graphics card into an Acer Aspire x1301-U1312. So far, I physically installed the card into the PCI express port (x16) but it doesn't seem like it's recognizing the monitor. When I remove the card and plug the HDMI cable back in the integrated GeForce 9200 graphics card, it works just fine.

What's the best solution to this problem!?

Any whom, thank you.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Did you install the drivers before you physically installed the card? That would be my first suggestion. Check to make sure you put it in the PCI Express 2.0 x16 slot and not the PCI Express 2.0 x1 slot. Also, try the DVI or even the VGA connections on the card to see if those work instead. You might have a bad HDMI port on the card itself.

I failed in updating the BIOS as per Acer's instructions, and now I have a bricked PC.

I'm trying to restore the original BIOS, but not having any luck. The PC boots, I hear two beeps - one short one long, and then it hangs. The power cycles to the devices & the fan, but it doesn't do anything. I tried it with the BIOS jumpers set both at 1-2 and 2-3. No luck.

What are the key strokes I need to press to force BIOS reset? Or am I toast with this MB?

A:Acer Aspire X1301 BIOS update crashed

Hello gerry and welcome . Mate how old is the machine mate? cos if you have bricked it as you think you have you maybe up for a new one but.....

The other thing is why did you try updating the BIOS? and was this the one you tried updating from Acer Support: Downloads & Support Documents - Desktop / Aspire / Aspire X1301

There are plenty of Googles for that problem and from what I have come across two beeps usually refers to some things in the RAM here are some refs
Computer POST and beep codes

What I would try myself first is to remove the battery lave it for a good hour or so - I have had some IBM jobs that required longer - replace with a new one, reseat the RAM and try again.

I'll keep scratching round in the meantime. Found this if it is of any help but I still think the battery change will narrow it down a bit

Hi there I have an Acer Aspire Aspire as hard adding Acer SSD but additional - room! no drive X1301 X desktop pc which is running so slowly I was advised that installing an SSD would speed Acer Aspire X1301 - adding SSD as additional hard drive but no room! it up and give Acer Aspire X1301 - adding SSD as additional hard drive but no room! it a new lease of life so I purchased one Sadly however upon opening the pc case I realised that there was no spare space inside for me to be able to install the new SSD and retain the old hard drive for storage purposes - However I do have a quot optical drive in there which is broken and hasn't been used for years I have an external optical drive that I use when I need to So I guess my question is can I remove the internal optical drive and use that bay to house my new SSD If so is there such a thing as an adapter that I can buy to be able to mount the drive into the large bay Can I use the same cables or will the SSD require different connectors I would be very grateful of any advice - I haven't attempted anything like this before Thanks

I have an Acer x1301-U9052 desktop that I installed Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit on. Everything looks good except one driver, the "Other devices -> Coprocessor" driver shows the yellow exclamation mark.

It will not auto-install the driver. I have looked at the Acer FTP link in another thread on here, but there is not a listing for the x1301 desktop. I also cannot find it on the Acer USA drivers listing.

Any ideas?

Win HP 7 64-bit OEM.

I don't know if it is OS related or not.

When watching videos what ever the source it will make a buzzing sound and then crash for good. It is a daily thing, randomly. Always when a video is running. I added a ATI 5450 video card and it does the same.

I updated the BIOS and all drivers to the latest versions. Windows Update works well.

I checked my wife's computer for any kind of malware or viruses being present and all scans have not shown any. It takes about 4 minutes for her computer to get to the desktop. Very slow. Using CCleaner tool for Start Up I disabled some software she does not need to run and that did not make the boot up any faster. I went to Acer looking for updates of any sort and got nothing.
Can anybody suggest what might be causing this slow boot up? And how to fix it.

Hello Windows 10 blue screen error. What a freakin joke. Acer computers should be smashed into pieces. Windows 10 is also the worst. They force you to automatically download a AMD Radeon driver that makes the computer stop functioning. You have to go back to an older 2015 driver to bring the computer back to working slow again instead of not working at all. I hate this computer. It is terrible and has always been slow. You can't even watch a movie or youtube clip without it bogging down and lagging. Its only a couple years old and they actually sold this piece of crap to people. Whats a good normal laptop to buy that isn't a piece of **bleep** that isn't an Acer? Windows 7 seems like the best OS created to me. Should I switch back to that or is there something better?

Hello everyone,

I just thought I could write on this forum to see if anyone could help me.
I have a Gigabyte motherboard (GA-7VM400AAM(F)) with an ATI videocard X850XT AGP and 1 GB of Kingston memory (2x512Mb). I also have an ATI All-in-wonder video card. What happens is that when I use either of the video cards, I cannot watch flash video on my computer such as on YouTube or others. It says that Explorer or Firefox must close and sometimes the system even crashes. I know I have an old rig, but still it should work. I have no idea of what is happening and I am suspecting a compatibility error between my motherboard and video cards.

My wife's computer with Windows 10 recently prompted a download of AMD's Radeon Crimson. Ever since the download was performed there have been more prompts for both Radeon Raptr (which seems to have been included with the Crimson) and Gaming Evolved, also a prompt to update Radeon Crimson. lately the prompts occur for Raptr several times throughout a day. We originally thought the AMD Crimson was an updated version for the AMD GPU on the computer. Neither my wife or myself play any online games and or not inclined to do so.My question then concerning this software is--is the Crimson an updated version that enhances the overall GPU performance of the computer, or is it meant strictly for gaming performance? If the Crimson is not improving performance for the computer's graphics sans games, how do I remove and delete the software for it and the Raptr?Any advice or information concerning this software is apprecated. Thanks, jusmeyall

You would be taking a step backwards as your 2 5970's are faster than the 6990. Also you would be trading 2 cards in Crossfire for a single card with 2 GPU's on it that also runs Crossfire.

A:Wait for the Radeon HD 7xxx series or get the HD Radeon 6950 2GB?

i would get the 6950, thats a very powerful crd as of now with great driver support, even though the 7xxx series is coming out it usually takes like 2 -3 months for decent driver support and longer sometimes with crossfire support in games. as for the crossfire question, u can crossfire cards from the same generation so 5xxx series only crossfires with 5xxxseries and the same for 6xxx, my friend has a 4870x2 and was starting to lag a bit in BC2 so i got him a 4890 and we put those in crossfire, works much better. But yeah i would get the 6950 now and like u said the nice 7xxx series prob won;t be out til after CES in early 2012

So i recently upgraded from the Radeon 6670 to the Radeon 5770 and I haven't noticed much of a huge graphics increase and i was just wondering why this might be, defective graphics card not enough power from my power supply bottlenecking at the processor. My power supply is 520 watts

My processor is the AMD Athlon II 2 x4 635 processor 4 cpu's 2.9 ggz\

I'm sure more info is needed to help figure out whats wrong, but i will need to know how to get that info and what info is needed.

Just curious about AMDTI's current naming system, both ranges overlap eachother in that an X700 is comparable to an X1600 so they obviously must have a unique difference. I heard it was that X1xxx boards have H.264 HD technology or something similar, but my new X850 is stated as supporting all current High Definition standards so I'm missing something.

Hi all, (sorry for bad english):
I bought a new graphics card (PCI-Express) to replace the old one that came with my computer:

the old one is the ATI Radeon X1650, with 512 MB DDR2 memory;
the new one is the ATI Radeon HD 5670, with 1 GB GDDR5 memory.

I run Windows 7 Professional on an Intel Core 2 Duo CPU (E6300 dual-core Conroe, 1.86 Ghz, 2 Mb L2) and i have 2 GB RAM DDR2.

I usually use my computer to play games like Unreal Tournament 3, Command And Conquer 4 or to run PS2/Wii emulators, at a resolution of 1600x900.
Will this graphic card improve my gaming experience? For example in Unreal Tournament 3 with ALL graphics options turned on i get 18 FPS (bad! ), and to get 60 FPS i must play it at a resolution of 800x600... will this change?

Also will my WEI score change? i get a score of 4,7 for Windows Aero performance and a score of 4,1 for game performance...

A:Ati Radeon X1650 ---> upgrade to Radeon HD 5670

theres about 2 years difference between the 2 cards so by that alone would indicate improved performance as they are both on similar levels within there range. i cant find too much details about the x1650, ati's site doesnt offer much any more.

When I play my games I find that I get less lag and less problems with the 8500 then my 9600.. Mind you a 8500 was bought second hand..

The computer with the 9600 haves better and more of Ram, cpu, and motherboard a newer model..
Sence I started to play Wow my 9600 is acting up with the Gamma. Every other game that I do play my gamma keeps reseting on me.. Even on my desktop. It gets realy dark..

How could this make sence, that a old used up 8500 works better then a newer 9600? Could it be my powersupply? 350W

A:Is Radeon 8500 better then Radeon 9600?

Hi Ludwig,
The 9600 is an AGP 8x, DirectX 9.0 videocard.

The 8500 is a DirectX 8.0(8.1) videocard and therefore is limited in support when games query features.

Running a game on the 8500 may be a totally different game on a 9600, as the 9600 can enable much more detail, higher pixel/vertex shader support and a plethora of other advanced features. For this reason, even a beefier system may perform lesser than a slower system with an 8500. It's because many of the newer DirectX 9.0 features also take a toll on the CPU/memory and mainboard performance.

As far as Gamma goes- this would suggest something may be misconfigured with your installation of the ATI drivers on the 9600, or that system may have left-over components from previous drivers. This is pretty easy to have happen. I'd recommend obtaining Driver Cleaner Pro at Install this, run it's Live Update to get the latest cleaners... but don't run it. Use the Control Panel/Add-Remove programs and uninstall ALL ATI drivers here first.. then reboot in safe mode and run Driver Cleaner Pro (safe mode/administrator).. After this, in normal mode again, try the latest drivers from ATI.

OK so i was in best buy and decided to grab the ATI Radeon 4350, i like it, but i want something a little more powerful. I was thinking the Radeon 4650. I was wondering if the Radeon 4650 Would be any better than the 4350. There Both 512 DDR2. I noticed the 4650 Doesn't need a 4-Pin Power Connector. Because i have a 480W PSU however it doesn't give the 12V of Power a High-end Graphics would need.

A:ATI Radeon HD 4350 Vs. ATI Radeon HD 4650

Heres a link to GPU listings: Graphics Card Hierarchy Chart - Review Tom's Hardware : Best Graphics Cards For The Money: Jan. '09

You would jump 9 tiers by getting the HD4650 and heres what they have to say:

"I don’t recommend upgrading your graphics card unless the replacement card is at least three tiers higher. Otherwise, the upgrade is somewhat parallel, and you may not notice a worthwhile difference in performance."

So you should see a noteable increase in performance however the HD4670 are really cheap just now so if possible id advise that over the HD4650. The price difference between the two shouldnt be that much.

Is the card better overall than the X850? I've found some on eBay and they are dirt cheap, too cheap which is getting me wondering as to why they are? Are they worse than the X850's?

Would the 2400 Pro work perfect for playing youtube and doing ENC mapping as in OpenCPN?

OpenCPN | Official OpenCPN Homepage

I know the 2600 Pro is better.
AMD ATI Radeon Chips Comparison Table | Hardware Secrets

Consider that this will be for an older AGP Intel server MB with 2.8ghz pentium CPU.
Currently it has an x1300 and it sometimes has issues with video performance.
at what point would it be not worth getting the better video card?

The pixels per clock is that a very significant measurement of performance vs gigabits per second?
Which has the greater weighting?

A:Radeon HD 2400PRO vs Radeon 2600 PRO

Assuming that you could actually find an AGP version of the 2600, I would buy that one. It has double the data bus width of the 2400 Pro and a faster GPU clock. It also has double the GB/s due to the double data width. If I'm not mistaken, that's a good indicator of the card's performance when doing a comparison.

More data throughput = better performance.

The only problem that I can see you having is actually finding an AGP version of that card. It's probably been out of production for years, as PCIe took over the graphics standard years ago.

I just picked up the xfx radeon 5450 1gb 64bit ddr3 card for a new build but realized i have an ati radeon 4650 512mb 128bit ddr2 from the old build that i could probably still use.

which of the two cards is the better card?

im sure there are a few other differences but the main ones im seeing are the xfx is ddr3 and 1gb with 64bit and hdmi output while the 4650 is 512mb ddr2 with 128bit and no hdmi

does ddr2 or 3 matter? would i notice a difference between the two cards?

the computer's not for any heavy gaming - mostly watching videos and light editing work.

A:xfx radeon 5450 vs ati radeon 4650

Unless you are doing something like gaming, which stresses the gpu, you aren't likely to notice any difference. The newer card has faster RAM because it has a faster processor. But card speed is irelevant for normal everyday PC use (ie: email, office apps, web browsing, watching videos, etc.).

I am getting the Radeon HD 6770 for my new system build. I cant really decide which one to get; the regular edition or the flex edition.

Flex: flez

I want the regular edition because its cheaper, but I want the flex edition because of the dual-dvi. My question is that can the regular edition output out of multiple ports? I want to use two monitors with only one video card. Maybe even three monitors in the future. I have 2 different monitors right now, and both of them have only 1x VGA and 1x DVI, so I understand I might have to buy an adapter/converter.

A:Solved: Radeon HD 6770 vs Radeon HD 6770 Flex Edition

It will output to two monitors easily.
Easiest way is probably a HDMI to DVI adapter for the HDMI port.
Might be able to run 3 with eyefinity.
Might want to check the manual at the manufacturers website.
I don't know how well it would run with 3.
More monitors means more graphics processing power is required.

after many attempts to fix the problem of image corruption on my sapphire radeon 9700. i have just about given up on it. I am thinking of selling my 9700 and buying a sapphire 9800. so my question is, is the sapphire 9800 any good, and if it is, should i get the sapphire 9800, or the sapphire 9800se.

A:radeon sapphire 9800 or radeon sapphire 9800se

The 9800SE is a "crippled" 9800. There are 4 pixel pipelines rather then 8 & it's generally fitted with 3.3ns RAM rather then 2.8.

Is the difference between the SE & the non-SE very steep ? Otherwise get the non-SE.

PS. Are you sure the image corruption is because of the 9700 ? It would suck for you to get a new card & have the same problem.

First, each model has multiple hardware specifications. So I have no way of knowing the hardware configurations of either unit that you have.

Second, upgrades are limited on OEM PC's. Your only options will be RAM and the video card. And in the case of the video card, the power supply may not be able to handle a decent card.

Just wondered if anybody had this graphics card and what your thoughts of it are? Also how do you install it as I have read it requres a supply of power from the PSU to the card? What is the best power supply to have for this card?

A:Radeon 850 XT PE

Depends on what the rest of your system specs are. I'd say at least a 400 watt to be safe not knowing what you have. The more the better for upgradability so get the best one you can afford. On the affordable side I would look at a Tagan 480watt. On the more expensive side I would look at an Antec,OCZ,Enermax,PC power+cooling(very high end). The OCZ modstream 520watt is a good choice in that lineup especially if you want to overclock as it has adjustable voltage rails.

Essentially a good power supply costs a good amount of money. At the very least you might look at a e-power puma II 450 watt that runs about 45 bucks. For the most part though a good high quality PSU will be 80 bucks and up.

What should i do?

A:radeon r9 290

your R9 290 will have the following ports.
firstly you have DVI
Next you have HDMI
and finally displayport
there is no difference in HDMI sockets other than HDMI varients. v1 1.1 ect but they are all compatible upto a certain resolution.

the only blue and white ports i can think of are VGA being blue and DVI being white.. yes you can get an adaptor for these but you dont want to.. VGA is analogue and DVI is digital, youll be loosing performance and good visuals.

Which is better 1gb ATI Radeon HD4850 vs 1.8GB NVIDIA Geforce GTX 260 on an HP Win 7 computer?

I don't play a lot of games, but I do play multimedia and do use computer graphics for visual effects reasons. Which is better card and why?

Currently I have this hp computer with the 1gb Ati Radeon 4850 installed and techs have been telling me that the reason I am unable to see a clear screen resolution and display the full 1920 X 1080 that my LCD screen is able to display is because of my graphics card. I have played around with the screen resolution and hertz, but not fix this issue. So if anyone can help understand this issue, I can fix it. Thanks

A:ATI Radeon vs Nvidia? Which Better?

The brand is usually just preference, I prefer ATi for example, johngalt prefers nVidia.
As for the two choices though, the GTX 260 is better as the 4850 is an older card, and also the 260 performs better. I said this because it wasn't my preference of card, if it was I would have said 4850, but based on your needs I have to be fair to both companies, in this case nVidia has the advantage.

As for your screen problem, probably software issues, i doubt it has anything to do with the actual card.

A:How far have you OC:ed your ATI Radeon 8500?

295/295, with no extra cooling. It lasts a good 4 hours before becoming unstable during intense gaming. Otherwise, it's always stable.

High instensity RTCW sessions seem to heat it up a little too much for it's teeny fan to handle Those new 6037 drivers are pretty good. Not a HUGE improvement, but an improvement nonetheless. (couple more fps it seems in RTCW)

---I have the official ATi Radeon 8500. (only $140 at all Best Buy's for the time being).

I have a Radeon HD3450 and installed the new direct x10 and when I restart my comp, the Catalyst Program fails, it says it won't respond. I did a system restore to before Direct x10 was installed and it works fine. I am talking the latest update for dx10. Any suggestions?

Hi All

I installed ATI Radeon X1650 PCIE on my windows XP home edition and the hardware is a hp Pavilion a1640n (intel core2 duo). After installing the hardware and then the drivers. Afterwards my computer started crashing/rebooting, i went into the safe mode with networking and here are the error and the minidump, i'd really appreciate if if someone could tell me what's going on and how can i fix it.

A:Bad_pool_caller ATI Radeon

Your minidump: 0xC2 BAD_POOL_CALLER error; are usually caused by faulty drivers or buggy software. Since it appears your issues began with your video card I'd begin with updating those drivers first.

I recently overclocked my Card, HIS Radeon HD 6670 From the default clock speed 800 Mhz to 900Mhz als the Memory From 1000 Mhz to 1150 Mhz, At 100% Load the temperature is hitting Around 75 Degrees so i wanted to ask if this temperature looks ok or is it too high. Also i wanted to know if there are any better programs that speedfan to control ordinary fans as my fan is really loud and everytime i have to go to speedfan to put it to 50% and i dont think i get the option to make it permanently so are there other programs that give that option?

A:HIS Radeon HD 6670

The AMD drivers have a fan control option for some cards, I think MSI's Afterburner utility also does and it works on pretty much all cards:

75 degrees for a graphics card isn't bad at full load. But you don't wan to lower the fan speed so much that the temps get hotter as that will damage the card.

Does anyone know if there is any way to enable to the 8 pixel pipelines that are disabled on the X700? I think I remember reading somewhere that it was possible, I just don't remember where. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

A:Radeon X700

I dont believe it's possible. Think that was only on the X800 VIVO (A Mod Which I preformed)

A:XFX 1GB Radeon HD5770

I have this card along with the 1GB 5750 CrossFired. Works for all the games I own with high for most game settings (but, as I stated, CrossFired)

I also have used the Overdrive utility to overclock the cards to 950/1435 for the 5770 and 860/1420 for the 5750 (850/1200 and 700/1150 stock clocks).

No problems to date.

Of the games you listed, I have Mirror's Edge and Dirt 2--can play both with settings on high (beating a dead horse, but in CrossFire)

Using Guide+Plus with ATI Radeon All-in-Wonder

I was wondering if anyone has the ATI Radeon All-in-Wonder? I used to use it with 98, and when I updated to XP it said that the Guide+Plus didn't work with XP. I have been waiting for them to release a new versoin compatible, but no luck yet. Anyway, I have emailed ATI asking about this, but no response, I have tried 4 times. I didn't know if anyone has this software working under XP, and if so please let me know how and what you did to get it. Thank you ahead of time, as ATI said a new version would be out at the beginning of the year

A:Using Guide+Plus with AIT Radeon All-in-Wonder

Hey Poert,

You may have this or seen this already. I was poking around at ATI the other day and found this for you, I too use ATI stuff and am always poking around their site. Anyway, don't know if it will help but it was worth a shot.

Hi i want to know is there are performance diferences with these cards, cuz i know there are tech diferences, but at last what a gamer whants to know if is going to give more fps in games.

thanks =)

ps: i know the gf4 gives more fps but is it worth it?

A:IS the radeon 8500, better, than gf3 or gf4?

I think the GF4 is above and beyond the GF3 and the ATi Radeon 8500. Between the GF3 and the Ati its a toss up. Personally I go with the Gf3 because of Nvidia's excellent driver support. They are both very fast cards with excellent imaging. I feel that Nvidia's AA is better than Ati's.

I'm planning to get 2 of these cards for xfire, i'm looking at 3 versions:

1 by ATI:

No built in cooling

1 by Powercolor:

This card has an artic cooling cooling device. there's also a 256 mb version

1 By Sapphire:

this one has builtin zalman cooler

I prefer to get the 2 ATI cards, mainly because i wont loose any PCI-e x1 or PCI slots, so my questions is this, how hot do these cards run? If they do run too hot, then i can either get aftemarket cooling like a zalman vf700 or 900 or get either a Powercolor or Sapphire version, in each case i'll lose those slots. Does the ATI version require any aftermarkwet cooling?

A:Radeon x1950 pro: how hot do they run?

No aftermarkety cooling is needed but I HIGHLY reccomend the SAPPHIRE, that is a Vf-900 on there.

But some better advice is buy a 8800GTS and destroy these 2 in crossfire.

Is a GREAT deal though. Has ATI cooler.

You need to plug your power supply into the card so it receives the extra power it requires. Is it plugged in?

Hi Roman-BV,
This may be an issue with the driver. Please uninstall the video driver from safe mode. Follow the steps below.
Tap F8 during startup > uninstall the video driver from device manager. Please follow the steps below.
Start > in search box type in device manager > under the sound, video and game controller > select the video driver and right click on it and uninstall and check the box (delete the software for this device). Restart your computer. Install the video driver using the link below.
In this link punch in the system service tag or express service code and select the appropriate operating system, under the video category select the latest video driver and install it.

I have digital cable thru Comcast which requires a set top box to watch the digital channels. I am looking to buy an ATI Radeon 9600 All in Wonder (for both gaming and VCR to DVD). Will I be able to capture the digital channels without a box or would I have to run thru the cable box and then into the card?

Thanks in advance,

A:Comcast and Radeon

There are two questions here...from each side of the fence.

1. Can a Comcast cable be DIRECTLY connected to a Digital capable TV, without their box in between? Comcast should be able to answer that question for you.

2. The other question is, are there Input jacks on the card that would allow direct connection of a Cable?

After looking at several articles via Google, with 9600 Radeon specs, it appears that there ARE Composite Video Inputs. Here is a paste for one such site:

Dual VGA

Stereo audio, S-video, and composite video inputs and outputs

External stereo connections to sound card's line input and output

Dolby digital stereo audio output (S/PDIF)"

I used to use a 7500 series All-in-Wonder, that I had directly connected to our cable. However, we did not have Digital, or Pay channels. I did not use a cable box.

So, I believe that your answer lies with #1, which Comcast should answer.
