Processor suggestions for budget office systems to resell

Q: Processor suggestions for budget office systems to resell

I have operated a small one man IT company for the last several years Most of my clients are small businesses Lawyers Chiropracters non-profits Right now I have several client offices that are upgrading up from Pentium systems and a few others that want to add basic desktop systems to their offices to act as counterparts to their mobile computers that they use primarily These offices generally are interested in low cost systems that can adequately and relatively speedily handle their basic operations web browsing word processing email database and CRM access etc Anyways I have generally not kept a large number of systems in stock before usually reselling systems that clients trade-in to other clients or just helping an office choose a good system off of newegg or geeks Since I have had so many requests for systems lately though I have decided to start actively buying systems office to Processor resell suggestions systems budget for I have over a decade of experience refurbishing systems so I decided to shop around for used systems to fix up but I have been having a hard time deciding Processor suggestions for budget office systems to resell on a processor line generation brand to focus on I m considering the Intel Core Duo or a Turion or Athlon dual core Pentium D dual cores are very cheap but I know they are much slower than the core duos From their benchmark scores though it seems like a GHZ pentium d might be better than a Ghz core duo Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated in this regard My goal is to keep these systems under to sell and I don t need anything cutting edge nbsp

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I think a Pentium G2020 will bring you the best performance for $65. The AMD A4-5300 is another great choice for $55. I think the Pentium is probably the better choice because of the larger cache, but for web browsing, word processing, and basic activities, the AMD will be fine.

You need a good...but not great mobo and a great cpu. After you get your motherboard you will need to be sure that your pre selected ram will be compatible. It's better to get your motherboard and cpu bundle, then select the best ram for the job. Luckily, Corsair has a good compatibility to product ratio. I had to trade back OCZ revision 2 for Corsair. My Corsair (4x1gig) has 4-4-4-12- latency numbers @ 400 mhz. I only go 5-5-5-18 when over clocking. You will get a lot of opinions about your choices...I say 'use what I use'. ASUS P5N-E SLI mobo and an INTEL cpu. E6750 is a good buy. It's around $200...=2.66...can O'C well. The ASUS is about $120. Don't forget a PSU and a Video processor.

A:Advice & suggestions on first build under $3k budget

direct quote from member lehpron from the EVGA forums, sorry its huge but this sums up why I chose the type of mobo, GPU and CPU. but of course still subject to change

"Most modern games are threaded for between 2-4 cores, and it has been a slow progress adoption since quads have been around for six years, duals for eight years. meaning, a 6-core won't make a difference today. New games take 2-3 years to make from the ground up, so in that time, it will make a quad that much more important. Only get the 6-core for your professional work, not for gaming.

3770K is a 22nm quad and half the die area (thus half the actual power and thermals if set at the same frequency) as 32nm i7-3900's 6-cores; mathematically, they should overclock better, but Intel differed from tradition of soddering the CPU die to the IHS (integrated heat spreader) by using a thermal grease with Ivy Bridge which tends to artificially raise temperaturess. This prevents anyone from really being able to push it except for those using cryogenics; so in the end, all Sandy and Ivy processors reach a max of approx 5GHz regardless of number of cores.

So it all comes down to the board really; X79 can support up to 4-way SLI (in quad x8, or a pair of full x16) configs while Z77 is limited to just dual x8's. If you're serious about longitivity in terms of having the room for future graphics cards and not change the board (which definitely need more bandwidth than current), then X79 is the only option. For CPU, either get quad 3820 or 6-core 3930K depending on how often your professional uses need 12-threads or not.

BTW, as for the GTX670's, get the 4GB card. We'll soon see a new standard for mainstream monitors that used to be the reign of medicial professionals, their total single display res equals to a modern multi-display setup. So if you intend on at least one in the next two years and not upgrading graphics for it, then you should plan ahead with a 4GB model and get 3-way SLI by then to compensate.

TBGAPowa

Really looking for longevity and durability I chose a gtx 670 in hopes of being able to run graphic intensive art programs and gaming on high settings for at least two years before upgrade/new build.
This part will require an edit for realism.

In two years, a pair of GTX670 will have the performance equivalency of a future mainstream card (I.e. "GTS850" )and unable to run those games appearing then at high details without having the frame rates dip whatever is high-end at time. So either plan to get into 3-way or 4-way SLI (meaning you need to get a 4-way capable board in the first place, I.e. X79), think about upgrading your graphics card much earlier than two years, or settle for less visuals as times passes especially if you plan a higher resolution monitor someday. Most games are GPU-intensive, so if your resolution doubles the pixels, you cut your frame rates in half.

The only way you can truly have longivity is if your expectation is much lower than what is available for purchase. If you want max detail at smooth rates, then that is only possible today, it isn't possible next year with this year's configuration running next year's games. Just so you know, many folks on enthusiast websites like these upgrade often as a hobby, they choose to keep up with technology in order to maintain their preference level in every new game; I personally see it as a hassle. So you have to decide your upgrade tendencies beforehand and plan ahead, beyond this upcoming build. "

A:Budget Build - Custom Desktop - Suggestions?

Either buy a case without a pw supply and then purchase a decent one OR buy an antec case with a pw supply. What you have selected is what I call a junk unit. Really just think about it for a min or two. A decent 500W pw supply alone is going to cost you $50~75 or so. What kind of quality do you think you are going to get for $29 case and pw supply?

This is one item you do NOT want to go cheap. Here is an example of a quality pw supply for an average build.

A:Water cooling suggestions, budget is 160 to 170 pounds

you don't need anything elaborate if you are just looking to cool the CPU; a single radiator setup would probably work just fine and be more compact. check out the inventory @ www.frozencpu.com for liquid stuff. they are a US-based company but they ship worldwide. they have one of the best selections of CPU cooling products on the market.

i would recommend a pre-configured kit with 3/8 I/D tubing and preferably an LGA-1366 cpu block (that doesn't require any modification or mount swapping).

Hi,

I'm after a new processor, on a budget. I've been told this - http://www.processorghz.co.uk/u/pp/...ghz-2mb-fsb800-btx-box/bx80547pg3000ft/274735 - will suit my system, but I'm wondering whether it's good enough? I mostly use the relevant PC for just general web browsing and listening to music..

Thanks!

A:Looking for budget processor for gaming

Judging by your pricing I'd probably go with the E6500. Except for the lower L2 cache (2mb) compared to the E7500's 3mb the CPU's are identical except that the E6500 is branded "Dual Core" and the E7500 is a "Core 2 Duo". Both are Wolfdale (Penryn 45nm) CPU's.
Theoretically the E7500's larger cache should make it faster in some applications, but the E6500 should still provide 90-95% of the E7500's performance .
This review of 131 CPU's includes all the processors you have listed, and as an added bonus includes a Crysis benchmark. The only downside is that the review is in French, although Google translate might help you out. The graphs of course are self explanatory.
Here is a Crysis optimization guide to help get the best out of the gamehttp://www.tweakguides.com/Crysis_1.html should you need it.

Well, i am seeking some of you folks expertise in this area. I've been browsing all over new egg, but man there is so much to look at.

Basic Guidelines:

-I'd like to stay under $150.00-160.00 for the pair.

-If it will need external graphics card, we should include that in the price. It can go a little over but not much in this case.

-Best performance and features for the money is what I am after.

Thanks much!!

The goal is that sales people can easily use the headset to make phone calls without being disturbed by surrounding noise and the customer also should not hear background noise.

• Headset should be under $50 each

• Headset should have a microphone that eliminates ambient noise (Digital? Noise Canceling? Unidirectional?)

• Headphone earmuffs should eliminate noise from environment (Closed? Active noise canceling?)

• Headphones should work on PC and MAC

I've done some research and found the following headsets, but have no idea if they are best in class or which one is the best choice:

• SteelSeries Sibera V2 - $20.00 - http://www.ebay.com/itm/221830713073
• Microsoft LX-6000 - $41.99 - http://www.adorama.com/MILX6000.html
• Logitech G35 - $55.00 - http://www.ebay.com/itm/371406573411
• Razer Kraken 7.1 Chroma - $59.49 - http://www.ebay.com/itm/301170054868

Are any of these the best choice, or some other model?

I'm looking for suggestions for my new processor (old one burnt out i busted the fan and couldn't shut down comp quick enough).

Anyone have any suggestions as to what processor would go good with the setup?

I understand that this mobo runs in syncronous mode at 333mhz, so the pc2700 is matched for a nice Barton core AthlonXP. For bang for your buck go for a 2500 or 2600 (333 core) Barton.

Many power supplies have an on/off rocker switch at the back. I would make sure it didn't accidentally get turned off. If that isn't the problem, I would suspect the power supply has failed.

Well im no gfx expert so im not even going to go there but as your only talking cpu and not mobo then i take it your sticking with the LGA1155 (?P5Q Pro) socket so depending whether your board supports 22nm gen 3 ivy chips or not will be a factor and then your price limited to what you want to get but IMO thats not a bad processor and cant see it limiting you in games but if you are going to change it then its how much you want to spend and if you want to step up to i7

Just to make sure...killing the power to it for a few seconds won't clear the CMOS if there is a battery on the motherboard. If there's not a jumper to clear the CMOS then try unplugging it, taking the battery out for a few minutes then putting it all back together.

A:Need Help With Monitoring logon activity on Systems in office

Hello,
I have the MCTS in Win 7 Administration as well.

If I am understanding this right, this person wants to log all the local machine logon times for each computer on this office network, which, as you stated, can be done with the Event Viewer. Or is it a situation of logging in remotely to a shared machine for file sharing and storage, and he wants to know who logs in and when? That can all be monitored via the same method as well.

OR, does he want the logon, etc. logs for each individual machine sent to his computer remotely? This can be accomplished via the subscription feature in the event viewer.

Supposed you buy the retail win 7, load it on a computer and activate. After a few months usage, you decide to go with Ubuntu, or sell the machine without harddrive in it,whatever. Point is your not using win7 anymore.

Can Microsoft "de-activate" the product key so if you put the win7 pack up on ebay, the new owner can activate without any problems? Does the EULA ban re-sale in any way once activated?

A:Can you resell a used Win 7 license?

Hi there

I'm thinking about going to Windows 8 and I'm wondering if It's possible to De-Arm/Deactivate my License for Windows 7. I hold full ownership of a genuine Windows 7 retail. Though I'm not sure where to begin as from what I've found out seems to be abit of a grey area. I'm In the UK. Whether or not that effects me, I'm not sure. Please help as I would like to know which route to take as If I do buy Windows 8 I would like my 7 to be sold to help fund It.

Please advise

hi

after latest updates are pushed on systems office 2010 is gone . it is affecting office 2010.
the windows in question is windows 7 enterprise and office is pro plus.

we are in a domain environment . updates are pushed through wsus server.

the symptoms are that when launching outlook we get some mapi32 dll not found error.
also in start menu word.excel are not visible.. infact non of office applications are visible under office menu in start menu.

looking in the instalation directory (program files x86 etc) in office folder we do not have winword or excel exe files there as well.

repairing existing office 2010 installation doesnt works

the only solution is to remove office 2010 and install office 2013.

Please help in finding the cause/solution of this issue.

I purchased a custom build PC in the spring with a 120 GB SSD boot drive. I have Windows 10 Home (OEM 64 bit) installed from a disc.
In short, Windows 10 has turned out to be a nightmare, worst OS ever. I HATE it. I want to get rid of Windows 10 and install Windows 7 Pro instead...

I wanted to simply sell the Windows 10 install disc (possibly with the 120GB SSD) and put the profit towards a copy of Windows 7 Pro...but I've read that OEM copies get tied to the exact PC they are first installed on? Is this true? Is there any way to rid myself of Windows 10 other than just throwing this disc in the garbage?

Hey Guys,

So I need to decide on which printer to buy for the office. It needs to be wireless as everyone is going to print wirelessly. It needs Scanner etc, pretty much a all in one. I was thinking this:

https://www.google.com/shopping/pro....5&ei=izJIU5zkMuKysAS8kIHwCQ&ved=0CNcEEKYrMAI

It's a Canon Color imageCLASS MF8280Cw Color Laser - Fax / copier / printer / Scanner if you guys can't see the link. I'm just looking for something that won't break the bank but will be reliable. Also if you are wondering color will be needed and that the printer doesn't crap out on me when printing large colorful powerpoint and PDF's files over wireless if needed.

Thank you for your help!

A:Solved: Which Office Printer to Buy (Suggestions)

If you're going to get the printer you linked to in an office situation, you better be using it for light duty work. A printer that costs $250 isn't going to have the most robust internals. You need to look at what the printer is rated for in terms of duty cycles and monthly page volume. It really all depends on how much usage you are going to put through a printer.

I was given a Dell multi-function color laser for free...brand new in the box to be a temporary/permanent replacement to the Xerox Phaser 8560MFP/D which just died on me. Even with it being free, I couldn't stand dealing with the printer. I ended up breaking down and buying the current generation Xerox replacement to my broken 8560....the ColorQube 8700/X. Even though the printer cost me quite a bit, it has been worth every penny with the useability and probably the reliability over the Dell printer. The Dell printer weighed all of maybe 15 to 20 pounds. The Xerox tips the scales at around 100+ pounds.

You also have to look at the consumeables. As with inkjet printers, the cheap color lasers don't reveal the actual cost of ownership of the printer as you'll find the color toner to many times cost more than the cost of the actual printer.

I have an HP 2000 Notebook that I am selling on ebay.

I delete my Microsoft account, used the Recovery Environment and Minimized Image Recovery to do a full system factory restore, deleted my networking information, etc.

Would it be safe to sell this laptop on ebay now or could my files still be on this computer? I didn't have anything like passwords or bank numbers on it, just family photos and wordpad files.

A:How to safely reset a computer for resell?

How about using CCleaner to wipe the free space against the possibility that someone might try to recover your files ?

If you install CCleaner on the machine, in the basic cleaner section at the very bottom of the scroll down list called 'Windows' you will see an entry marked 'Wipe free space'. Tick that box and run Ccleaner. I imagine - I've never done it - that it will take quite a time longer to run than a normal scan but should wipe any file remnants off your drive.

This will not wipe your drive to military standards but it should be enough to make life very difficult for anybody trying to recover data and it is a simple and easy method. If you don't have a copy you can download it here -

So I got a slingbox for Christmas and I need more ports.

I currently have 5 windows xp computers, a printer, Apple time capsule w/wi-fi AP, and a vonage box connected to a Netgear 8-port FVS318 connected to another Vonage box which is in turn connetced to my dsl modem.

So I'm looking to move to a 16 port router with some type of QoS support so that I can prioritize the traffic from the vonage boxes so they don't cut out when I'm on the phone & transferring files or using my sling box.

I have been browsing around and I found Netgears FS116E but I'm not quite sure if this would be a good fit or quite how it would best fit into my network since it is a switch.

I have also been told I should look at something with gigabit capacity.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

What I'm wondering is how do other schools handle this huge problem? What kinds of discipline is enforced? And what kinds of things have you tried?Click to expand...

sounds to me the teachers need to be sorted out first and that comes from the heads

and this is clearly the root cause
The problem is the teachers do not pay attention to what the students are doing and in one 40 minute class they can strip all the keys off one computer without being noticed.Click to expand...

20 kids a class and not noticed - what are the teachers doing,

I dont teach at a school but my wife does in a private school in UK and the discipline is very high , doors opened by the children , and they all have laptops, but they pay for them them selves
My niece goes to a normal school and all have laptops , parents have to pay for them

thats seems the issue - no consequences and no investment or accountability

do the teachers have budgets at all - charge them a fee for using in the year and all a fee for the repairs

but it sounds more like a lack of discipline from the heads and teachers

Lately, I've heard some people say that the Unix code is more secure than the Windows code and that the Windows code has many holes and bugs in it. Before, I always thought Unix systems (for example, Mac) were less likely to get infected by viruses only because they had a lower market share. However, I'm starting to wonder if the Unix code is really more secure than the Windows code. Is this true? Also, does the Windows code really have that many bugs and holes in it?

A:Are Unix systems more secure than Windows systems?

It is rather debatable, its harder to compare two completely different codes and say one is flawed and one is not.

Though Unix/Linux does appear to be a bit more secure, which is why Apple's OS X (their baby), is based on a unix-code.

I recently upgraded to a HP,Media Center editon pc, Windows XP, AMD Athlon 64 3800+2.4 GHz Processor.

When trying to install Photoshop Album 1.0, I receive this message, "This operating system is not supported by Adobe Photoshop Album. We support Windows 98SE, ME, 2000 , XP Intel Pentium III or 4 processor".

Could my problem with installation be the Athlon processor? When purchasing this computer, our salesman convinced us that the Athlon was just as good as the Pentinum Processor. Any thoughts on this? My computer is less than a week old and having serious thoughts about returning it. I have had problems with other installations. Am I to expect more problems with software and the Athlon processor. Any helpful suggestions will be appreciated. I am getting desperate for advice about the processor.

A:Athlon Processor versus Pentinum Processor in Windows XP

What the message is telling you is that Windows Media Center Edition 2005 is not one of the operating systems that Adobe Photoshop Album 1.0 supports. It has nothing to do with whether an Intel processor or an AMD processor is installed. I checked the system requirements for the newer version 2.0, and it also is not supported by Windows MCE 2005.

By the way, Adobe Photoshop Album 1.0 has a 13.5 MB patch for it and will upgrade it to version 1.0.1. You can get it from here.

We are wanting to up-grade our current Office suite Office 2003 to either Office 2010 or Office 2013.  Our PC's are running Windows 7

I would just like to know what peoples opinions and advice is on this?

A:Up-grade from Office 2003 to Office 2010 or Office 2013

I can't speak to Office 2013, but I've done numerous upgrades to Office through 2010.  When you install the new version, you have the option to keep the old version or just replace it.  Starting with Office 2007 the familiar menu bar has been replaced with the ribbons which take a lot of getting used to for folks used to older versions.  There's a little program called UbitMenu that will add most of the menu bar functions back in the 2007 and 2010 versions that a lot of folks find helpful.  If you do opt to have two different versions installed at the same time, what happens is that when you switch from one to the other, it goes through a juggling act that takes a minute or so.  It's a bit of a pain, but if you need it, it could be a convenience.

Good luck.

I need to order a new desktop for my office to replace a 3 year old machine that runs at 3.2 Ghz. The new machines that Dell offers only has this option:

Intel® Core™2 Extreme QX6700 (8MB L2 Cache,2.66GHz,1066 FSB)

I don't think there is a standard measuring stick that is used to compare all the processor speeds that I can find or understand. I work with CAD programs that use up a lot of resources and I typically get the fastest available and max the RAM. With all the latest software that I have to install, I need the new machines to run faster than the ones they replace.

Can anyone tell me how this 2.66GHz processor compares to my current machine? I don't have the exact specs for it, this is what it lists on the dell support site for my system - PROCESSOR, 80532K, 3.2GHZ, 1M, 533, M0.

A:Diff between centrino processor and core 2 duo processor

In a word nothing, the centrino branding does not refer to any specific additions to the processor, it is simply a label that is attached to laptops which use intel branded processor, integrated graphics and wireless chips.

Centrino is more of a marketing tool that Intel use to boost sales of their graphics and wireless chips, so you can pretty much ignore it

A:$200 budget what can I do.

Basically nothing. TF2 relies too much on the CPU for a graphics+power supply upgrade, which you could afford, to make any difference. A new motherboard, CPU, RAM and OS are out of your budget. ~80 $ for a decent motherboard, 110$ for a really good one, 50-80 for RAM, 80-130-150-190 for a CPU, 90-150 for an OS.

I am eventually going to build a budget pc, but for now im trying to understand the parts as much as I can. For the cpu i wanted to know what the discription of the cpu
is, for Ex. "Intel Core i5-3470 Ivy Bridge 3.2GHz (3.6GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155 77W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 2500 BX80637i53470"
For the "3470", I wanted know what that means, like if its overclockable by that much. as well as the "Intel HD Graphics 2500", does that mean what type of graphics card it is compatable with are something else. If any one can help explain these things to me I would be very much greatful. those discriptions above are the only ones I need thank you.

Greetings everyone. As a result of my recent lemon from CyberPower, I have decided to just build a new gaming rig myself.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Tonight I am going to tweak and further research some build ideas, but there is always some one on here who has some useful insights to offer.

A:$1,900 budget

Hi PYGMUS. I'm assuming your budget excludes the cost of a monitor and peripherals such as mouse, keyboard and speakers.

Intel Core i7-950 Bloomfield 3.06GHz - $299.99
ASUS Rampage III Formula LGA 1366 Intel X58 - $299.99
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 6GB (3 x 2GB) DDR3 1600 - $139.99
Seasonic SS-850HT 850W Power Supply - $119.99
2x MSI N460GTX CYCLONE 1GD5/OC GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) 1GB - $439.98
Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB - $74.99
COOLER MASTER HAF 932 Black Steel ATX Full Tower - $139.99

Total - $1,514.92

With the remaining cash you could get yourself a good aftermarket CPU HSF and other components of your choice and requirement. You could look towards getting a Blu Ray Drive or SSD if you're interested.

I have $700 to use for a PC setup. I originally was just going to customize a Dell from the Dell web site until I saw how severally overprice many components were and even way outdated! Therefore I want to build my own with parts through Newegg.

Here's what I have so far:
http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=12032652
I already have a Sata hard drive and THIS power supply so those 2 items can be excluded.

Can anyone tell me for sure the processor, motherboard, memory and case that I picked would all be compatible with each other?

I play on adding a video card down the road also. I remember reading but not sure if it was this specific motherboard, but one of them said it didn't have integrated video so I'm curious as to how you'd even install a video card with no video to install the drivers?

A:$700 Budget for a PC

$700 is a bit more than a budget computer...

You have an OS to install? At least until Windows7 comes out?

I would go with the following (order of your list)
1 - Case: Pretty much anything that is Rosewill = crap. Want a good basic black case with good airflow, try this:
Antec 300 $55 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129042 (IS your PSU 24pin and 4pin wires very long? Many of todays cases such as the 300 has the PSU on the bottom)

2 - Keyboard, $7 keyboards won't last long. A good cheap keyboard is an HP or Logitech for $15+ But none of them are as good as what was made 10-15years ago.

3 - Spend $40~50 more on a 24" Samsung. Acer tends to be washed out. Over at Costco, they sell the 24" Samsung for $200. $250 with HD-Tuner and HDMI input. (Add $50 from newegg) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001280

http://www.costco.com/Browse/Produc...=0&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Nty=1&topnav=&s=1

4 - With AMD DDR2 boards, its generally best to go with DDR2-800mhz: RAM 4GB DDR2 800 - $47 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E1682014518 G.Skills are good, I use them.

5 - Mice : Check out Logitech... $5~10 mice tend to live for a month or so. Spend at least $15+ Good mice are $30~50.

6 - Motherboard The 790 doesn't have onboard graphics. Not sure what you're asking. If you buy a motherboard without on-board graphics and you don't add a video card, you DON'T get video. If you buy a motherboard with onbaord graphics, you do. Here are two ATI 785G boards with onboard video... they are quite good. Cost less, just as fast and newer than the 790.

MB Gigabyte 785 $90 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128395 (ATX 2x 16x slots)
MB Gigabyte 785 $80 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128394 (mATX)

Your 500w OCZ PSU is good enough for ATI 4850 and 5700 series video cards. I'd go for a 5770 or 5750 which comes out next month.

So spend a bit less on the mobo and case, put a bit more money on KEY / mouse and monitor. A 24" screen is sweet.

Are there any differences between office 365 home and office 2016 pro when you compared their installations of word, excel, power point and publisher?

I tried with tech support to get the original license key installed and not the O365 license but it didn't work.
So does anyone have the proper steps I need to take to install the one time license key?

Im currently looking for a 144 hz monitor. Preferably 27 inch but obviously doesnt fit my budget (below $300). Therefore I have to go with the 24 inches (not bad either). I'm currently deciding between 3 monitors all in stock on amazon.
Amazon.com: BenQ XL Series XL2411Z 24-Inch LED Monitor: Computers & Accessories

Amazon.com: Philips 242G5DJEB 144hz, 1ms Extreme Performance 24-Inch Professional Gaming Monitor: Computers & Accessories

Amazon.com: AOC G2460PQU 144hz, 1ms Ultimate Performance 24-Inch Professional Gaming Monitor: Computers & Accessories

It's hard to decide which one since i have no experience in these monitors.

A:Best budget 144 hz monitor

Graphic card specs? I'm not an expert with graphics, but I do know that sometimes a midrange graphics card can limit performance on a great monitor and vice versa for an average monitor hooked up to a great GFX card..... just food for thought.

From personal experience the best thing you can do when buying any monitor (or TV) is to look at it yourself. You can't always hook up your own device to it, but by checking it out in person you can see what really pops and what looks good to your own eyes. Try to get over to a best buy or microcenter or someplace where they have these monitors you're looking into and check them out yourself! Doesn't have to be the same exact size as the one you're looking for, if they come in multiple sizes, as long as it's the same family of monitors.

The CPU is a vintage model - but probably optimal for your socket.. Can you even find a new one. Here is a refurbished one:

It's a dual core CPU, no dedicated GPU and no OS. I would look for something with at least 4 core CPU, that has a dedicated GPU and with an OS installed. That price range will be around $400 to $500 (USD). For $500 USD, you could build a very good PC for just about any computing task.

Does the TS budget box seem like a not so good value?
I mean, you can get a phenom II quad core 3.2 GHz for 130ish. Throw that on a mobo that has some usable integrated graphics (until you are able to add a decent graphics card) with 4 or 8 GB of ram, and a hard drive of choice, and a cheap yet solid case, and finally a DVD drive and you are probably around 450-500ish.

I dont know, it just seems like using the A8 for anything but laptops or micro (or other small factor) ATX is pointless.
Just my thoughts.

A:Is it just me or does the TS Budget Box seem like a poor value?

they are pretty much designed for graphic card replacements (not anywhere near yet though) and very low power use so yes good for laptops but not for desktops at the moment

A:Looking to Upgrade on a Budget.

Cheap doesn't equal high end gaming. I honestly don't know your definitions of both.

In tech forums, most would tend think $600 graphics card for high end gaming. Such as nForce 6800 GT.

I can't recommend any mobo or CPU that are cheapest and for high end gaming.

Hi everyone,
I am new to this forum and would like some help picking my christmas PC. Obviously on a low budget I can't be looking for an amazing gaming PC. But I would like something that could run things smoothly such as WarRock, and WoW. I've been scouring Ebay and have found some interesting PC's but cannot differentiate them enough to understand whether or not I am being ripped off. I am 16 and on a budget of about £350 (do not include anything apart from the actual PC no screen keyboard or mouse needed).

Any help would be seriously appreciated

Mike

Those are just a few I have found... Any other suggestions appreciated... Also home build could be a possibility if cheaper.

try this configuration, leaves you room for speakers, optical, etc

good for performance at 1680x1050 on high for most games

If you really need to start shaving the cost down because of peripherals, a few suggestions:
go with the 7750 or 7850 BE and OC it. (will need a different Motherboard i believe)
two, if you have a little faith the 4830 is different in two ways from the 4850 it has 4-shader clusters for 640 total, and 8 less texture units (32). the major vendors of ati cards (in order to get a competitive advantage) have turned on the 5th shader cluster, and the 8 texture units to make them effectively 4850's. and can be had for $89.00. i would also recommend the 4770, if a guy could find one.

Why AMD? You can build an Intel system that is much more powerful for the same price.

Hi, It's my first time to build a custom PC, and I would like one that I could play a lot of games like diablo 3, NBA 2K12, Dragon Age 2 and other high specs game. The problem is I don't know how to build a custom pc. I don't know what parts work with other parts and what parts doesn't synchronize with the other. Just seeing AMD FX something vs Intel i3 gets my mind baffled.

Really need some suggestions on what to get. Thanks in advance. Oh and also If it's compatible with a 2TB HDD. Thanks again!

I'm looking for a motherboard for my current ATX case. Currently, if you look at my specs, I am using an ECS L7VMM v1.1 with an AMD Athlon XP 1700+ processor and 512 MB DDR SDRAM. I will upgrade the RAM soon enough but I'd like to know what would be the best solution on a $200 budget, maybe $300 if I can get a halfway decent processor on the cheap. Must have AGP 8x/4x as I currently use GeForce FX 5500 and would like it keep it that way for now. Wouldn't be for anything special other than DOS playability via WIndows 98 and VB programming via Win 2K/XP.

Just some thoughts amongst the community about which one would be the better overall product for me.

Thanks in advance.

A:Upgrading on a budget

Well, are you hoping to recycle any parts from your current setup or are you wanting to have 2 total?

Take a look at this bit I stole from Rage_3k_Moiz in this thread.

Try this build:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ Brisbane 2.6GHz 2 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2 65W Dual-Core Processor - Retail - $59.99
GIGABYTE GA-MA78GM-S2H AM2+/AM2 AMD 780G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail - $79.99
G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail - $34.99
Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD6400AAKS 640GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM - $74.99
Antec earthwatts EA380 380W ATX12V v2.0 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply - Retail - $39.99
Antec Three Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Retail - $54.95
Grand Total = $303.92 without considering shipping on some items (Shipping is free for most of them). A nice sturdy system that will last long and will do everything you want it to effortlessly. It gives you expansion options too, with a PCI Express slot on the motherboard and a PSU capable of supporting any card upto an 8800GT (Just in case you think of delving into the addiction that is PC gaming ).Click to expand...

I think you'll have some difficulties getting 98 to run properly on a modern system, so you may be better off running 98 in a virtual machine from within XP on that.

That machine obviously doesn't have an AGP slot, but its not worth buying a motherboard now that has one because it limits you so much on everything else, trust me, I did it once. Plus that FX5500 probably isn't any better than the onboard video on the motherboard.

A:AMD or Intel CPU Budget

7750 or e5200, the difference your not going to see.

go with whats cheaper.

i tested the 7750, it is no doubt amd's best dual core chip in the athlon x2 line.
i tested it against the x2 6400.

clock for clock, the 7750 came out on top, and the temp difference was amazing.
the 7750 ran 10C cooler in the same system.

3.4Ghz is a good stable overclock on the 7750. (2.7 stock)
thats a 700mhz overclock.

i cant speak on the e5200 overclocking, because i have not owned one myself.
im sure it can overclock past 3.4 tho, given you have a good cpu cooler.

but what im trying to say, either chip you get, the performance is almost identical to the other.

here is my 6400 vs 7750 chart i made @ another site after a couple of bencharmarks were completed.

test system:
asus m2n-e 570 ultra mobo
ocz platinum ddr2 800 ram
evga gtx 280
x2 7750 and x2 6400

the 3dmark score is cpu score only, the actual scores both are in the 12k range, but that is thanks to the gpu.

edit: get a getter video card than that x1900 series.
if your going ati, grab a 4830 if you can afford it, its about $100
if you want nvidia, grab a 9600gso, its less than $100, and its a great budget card.

Heya there, I have a budget of around about £150 and I'm looking for the best AGP card to fit that price, preferably NVIDIA as I've had issues with ATI in the past. I want to be able to run games like Half Life 2, or Elder Scrolls Oblivion on high quality.

The rest of my PC is pretty decent, 1GB ram & 3.4Ghz P4. Just need a better GCard.

So, any recommendations? And thanks for any help you can offer
