I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Need help with finding a new motherboard

I dont know a lot about the insides of the computer, just the basics, I bought myself a gtx 660 graphics card and installed it in my very old gaming computer and it takes a while to start up (for example I need to prime it like a lawn mower before it will load up on my monitor) at first I thought it wasnt getting enough power so I bought a decent power supply, but that didnt fix it, so on a different post someone mentioned I may need a higher end motherboard.

anyways after all that being said I would like to buy a new motherboard but dont care much for upgrading my processor as of yet but I dont know what motherboards both my graphics card and processor will work in.

I have:
geforce gtx 660 superclocked which I believe is this one > http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130826

and all I know about my processor is it is a intel i3-550 which I believe is this one > http://ark.intel.com/products/48505

the motherboard I have now is this one > http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128457

and as you can say even that is discontinued haha, so with all this information I would greatly appreciate if someone could find me a motherboard compatible, preferably from newegg.ca or any other known computer sites within canada

my personal budget for a motherboard is between $70-180

thanks

If what you have is 256MB PC2100, and that works you can just get the two 512 MB PC2100. Brand doesnt make a difference, in compatibility.

Here is a site I got from google searching M830LR, I have a M810LR

Friend of mine asked me to help her find a motherboard for her computer. She has a Compaq SR1103wm. The model # for the motherboard is ms 6577 version 4.1 I believe it is a Giovani board. I have looked on newegg.com and tigerdirect.com even the HP and Compaq sites also ebay and have found nothing. It does have an Intel P4. If anyone could point me in the right direction as to how to find one and get a price on it, would be much appreciated.

A:Help finding motherboard!

Compaq buys OEM boards that generally are not sold to the general public, in this case a MSI Microstar MS-6577 (a search on their website says no such number).

If you have to have the exact same board, Compaq is your best bet. If it doesn't have to ve the exact same board, find abother that supports the other hardware. If not the same exact board, you will likely have to reinstall XP Pro though.

My friend needs to find out what kind of motherboard he has without opening his tower. I tried looking but, I kinda am having trouble. It really never tells me EXACTLY what motherboard it has.

My friend has a emachine T2958. He really wants to know what slots he has so he can buy a new graphics card.

Thanks a lot.

A:Help on finding Motherboard

According to Emachine's website, the motherboard has onboard graphics and it does not mention an AGP slot. Although one could install a PCI graphics card, recommending these cards aren't generally done because PCI graphics cards aren't the ideal situation for gamers.

If you'd like to try Everest to see if it will tell you the motherboard, I doubt it will but sometimes it surprises even me. Also it might tell you how many pci slots the board has. The link is below:

I'm helping my brother find a motherboard/processor combo for his Northgate computer.

He bought a motherboard/combo (celeron 2.8 ghz) for an ATX case from Microcenter & it didnt fit. He's thinking he needs a micro atx.

I'm going through the manual & it looks like it's a P4XMS main board.

My question is, how do you specify what type of motherboard he needs for the case he has.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

A:Help finding a motherboard

Take the measurements of the current board and look for one with the same size.
The P4XMS from Elitegroup (or ECS) is of the MicroATX format.
Any other MicroATX mobo will fit.
Check that your current CPU and graphics card are suited for the new mobo.

I think the features you'll struggle to find are the midboard USB 3.0 header and the second PCIe x16 slot. I've just been through the three Micro-ATX boards ASUS offer and they're the two missing features on all of them. I'll keep looking though.

I have been searching for written material on my motherboard:
Intel Corporation D915GSE AAC77848-104. I am particularly interested in information on the onboard video hardware. Have googled and binged. Nothing from Intel either. While I know through reading threads here about disabling the onboard video, the purpose of my specific interest, I still want to learn more about this motherboard. Perhaps just curiosity, but your help or source for info would be appreciated.

A:FInding information (Manuals?) on motherboard

The G915GSE motherboard is a Gateway proprietary motherboard.

This site indicates the board is a standard BTX form factor board.
http://skyline-eng.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&product_id=5791

On proprietary motherboards (which would have a proprietary BIOS) the only factual information you could get would have to come from Gateway. Gateway used code names for their boards, so you would have to ascertain from Gateway the code name for the board to find information at the Gateway site regarding the board.

Intel discontinued further developement of the BTX form factor in 2006.

Yes the motherboard is going to have to match what you have. Unlike desktop computers that may use the same motherboard for several different models, Laptop motherboards are model specific.

Hi (a post after a long time)

Ok, now i'm trying to put it in a standard larger ATX casing. I've fitted it in and everything works fine except the front panel connections. I cannot identify the front panel connections and could only manage to identify the power switch pins on the motherboard.

I've searched over internet and couldn't find a manual of the motherboard (found manual for the PC on www.nodevice.com but it doesn't tell how to connect front panel)

so can you guys please suggest me the connections for front panel LEDs, Audio and USB.

and i really believe that you TSG guys are up to it

I could use some creative customer service here. My M3800 shipped with the known power-on motherboard defect. It was replaced at no charge, which was very nice. However, the replacement (2nd motherboard!) is now having the same intermittent dead / no power problem.
To get the computer running, I have to remove the case (12 screws) and un-plug the internal battery to 're-set' the electrical fault. After I put it back together, the computer starts normally. This is not very convenient, especially when meeting with new clients.
The problem is that I am being told I am outside the 3-month repair warranty. I think this stinks! It's a known issue and I would like someone at Dell to step up make my expensive computer work normally all of he time.
Yes, I have run every diagnostic known to man and the internet.

Okay, so as the topic title implies, for the life of me, I cannot figure out which motherboard model I'm supposed to get for this Dell Inspiron 1300 here. Only info I have is that it has the Centrino sticker on the palm rest of the case, and I also have the service tag, but that doesn't seem to give me much information from what I've found.

I've taken the motherboard out of the thing and looked it over, but no luck, as I don't see the model number on it.

Will someone please tell me how I'm supposed to figure out the motherboard model number so I can get a new one?

hey guys, does anyone if there are any other drivers for this board? i'm looking at this page after selecting 'driver' and 'win7 64 bit'. http://gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3166&dl=1#dl i only see 'audio', 'chipset' 'LAN' and 'RAID'. on the other boards i've seen, the driver software was much more comprehensive and contained several different pieces of software.

what's the main driver i need to install after installing win7 for the motherboard? just wondering if i'm missing something and need to install something else for the 'main features'? or are there main features found in the BIOS before win7 boots up? how does win7 recognise the board btw? does the board have drivers built in already? how can winxp recognise mboards that have been made very recently?

thanks guys

A:Gigabyte motherboard: P55M-UD4 some questions on motherboard software

Those are all the drivers you need, and really all any motherboard needs to work. You also have some Utilities under the drop down menu of "Download Type" but these are optional tweaking and similar utilities not required for proper operation of the system. Any version of Windows will have limited driver support, enough to install and run until the correct drivers are installed, or for a SATA or RAID controller under Windows XP drivers are loaded via the F6 prompt during the initial stages of the XP install to allow it to detect the hard drive. There are no drivers built into the hardware itself.

I'm trying to be a bit cost effective for college by replacing parts of an old computer in order to get it to run CAD (specifically making it possible to run Solidworks 2016) better, but I am new to modifying computers. I currently have a Dell 15r 5520 with no modifications. I have found a 15R 7520 motherboard on eBay to replace it but it says with no video. Does this mean I would have to buy a separate graphics card? If so, any recommendations? Would I be correct in assuming that it comes with the i7 processor? Also any input on upgrading to a SSD?

The 1 TB Hitachi HDD in my 8 month old HP Elite Win 7 x64 desktop crashed the other day and my Tech says that he can replace it with the G3 SSD of my choosing. The 120 GB size would be great and I've been cruising Newegg looking at SSD's from Intel, Crucial and Corsair, but I have very little knowledge and even less experience with SSD's and when I read that the new generation of 25 nm SSD's are about to be released I knew it was time to come here and get some expert advise on which SSD to get rather than to wish I had later.

.

A:Help With Finding the Right SSD

Maxxwire,
You may want to consider the OCZ line as well as many here are very happy with them. I have the Crucial Real SSD and it's been great. I will say that going from a 1TB spinner to a 120GB SSD is a flawed logic. I would consider the purchase of both and put only the OS and all Applications on the SSD then all data goes to the spinner with another for a back of the main spinner and an image of the SSD. You are always on the cusp of the newest technologies and I would say that short of waiting for the latest SSD's to hit I would jump on one of the four brands mentioned and enjoy. I remember having this problem on a reformat and it can be a pain in the XXX to get drivers, especially for ethernet. Well, what you are going to need to do will be this:

1. Find another computer that has drivers already installed and can access the internet (you are using one right now)

2. go to this link: http://www.e4me.com/support/product_support.html?cat=Desktops&subcat=W%20Series&model=W3615 (emachines driver link for your model)

3. you can get all the appropriate drivers there.

Get pc3200. It will run fine at 333mhz, as long as you configure it do so. Not that you need to run it at 333mhz anyway, Bartons overclock easily, you should be able to push the FSB to 400 with no problems....maybe a little extra voltage, but it should go pretty easily.

ipconfig/all

A program like ActivePort s (available from http://www.protect-me.com/?from=prog_aports, under Choose aproduct select the Freeware option) will show all active TCP and UDP ports on your PC.

I have noted the following as a result of not being able to copy from cmd exe to notepad exe Copy paste does not work between these two applications CBS Log Finding on Windows Pro- Bit Right click in cmd window select all and then Control C In notepad Control V Curiously this function does work on Windows Home Premium I was trying to copy the output of ipconfig all to Notepad to save as a text file for e-mail attachment to an outside party assisting me with a Linux networking issue I was able to find a workaround which required typing the following at the command line in cmd exe - ipconfig all gt c ipconfig txt Also curious cut paste seems to work on all my other Windows app ie from browser to e-mail etc and also CBS Log Finding from within Windows apps ie select text then Control C and place cursor somewhere else and Control V I ran sfc scannow at the cmd exe CBS Log Finding command prompt and a CBS log file was generated which I have attached The problem is with the rdpclip exe and rdpclip exe mui files which is noted at the end of this file Is there a way to resolve this CBS Log Finding without having to go through this Repair Install I look forward to a response on the above

A:CBS Log Finding

I don't think there's anything wrong with your system nor is there any difference between home premium. You actually don't need to CTRL+C, in fact that's the problem. Just right click in CMD and select Select All, press ENTER on the keyboard, then PASTE (CTRL V) into notepad. Try that.

Where is the best place to find lap tops cheap?

A:Help with finding a lap top!!!!!!!

Your question is too vague. It all depends on what you want in a laptop. On the low end of the scale, you can buy one for about $500.00.

Walmart, Staples, Office Depot, Best Buy, CompUSA are all good places to look.

Hi, I bought my computer like 4 years ago and its getting really outdated. Ive bought a new video card(Geforce 9800) but im looking to find a new CPU. Only problem is that i have never installed one and im not sure which one is compatible to my board (Nagami-GL8E). On the specs it claims the board is compatible to only a few CPUs but i have a hunch thats not 100% accurate and was hoping you guys could give me some input. At the very least i was really hoping for some sort of dual-core. Price range is $80-$150. Thanks alot

Here is my machine

A:Help on finding a CPU

You have a very old PC that frankly can't be upgraded much at all. It's a single core CPU with DDR RAM. It's a branded HP machine which also means your motherboard and BIOS are crippled. So the info on your mobo might not be right after all it's worse then you think. Typically an OEM manufacture will lock the BIOS and even change the mobos so that they will only work with a very limted range of CPUs.

You can't get a dual core CPU in this computer period. Also technology has advanced quite a bit since you got your PC even a modest $350 custom built PC would run circles around it.

I looked on the HP site and sure enough it says you cannot any download drivers for 98 and ME. I agree it sucks you can't even download old drivers, but that is HP. Maybe contact them directly and tell them you need drivers?

A:Need help with my M/B and finding a new CPU.

It will only run the 100mhz/200mhz processors, not the 133/266 so you will need to make sure you get the right cpu

According to the latest manual I just downloaded it will take a 1.2gig with a note that this was the highest at time of publication.

You will probably need to flash your bios to the latest to get the microcode for the latest cpu's

Hello, I posted th is on another thread, but apparently it's been lost to the numbers.

Ok, what I need to do is, recover my XP Pro CD Key off a failed XP Pro loaded on my other harddrive. Basically when I bought my computer, it came with Pro installed, but I was given Xp Home.

So I've always used pro without thinking about it, and it's now crashed hard and won't load up. SO I need someone to tell me how to get the Xp Pro CD key while I'm logged on to Xp Home from my other hard drive.

Please any help would be so greatly appreciated.

If you own a computer no matter the model or brand, and the police or FBI come and arrest you and go and check out your computer and all of it's files, content, etc. Can they manage to find everything thats ever been on it? Even files, folders, audio, video, etc. that you have deleted, and had your computer restored, erased, etc. Can they still find out all that information no matter what you do to your computer?

No, not everything, any files and data that was overwritten will have only last data available.
There are some programs that can erase data by overwriting it several times.
Download [email protected] KillDisk - MajorGeeks will destroy any data on whole disk
Download Eraser - MajorGeeks will let you shred data files selectively.
or
Download DeleteOnClick - MajorGeeks
But before you securely erase files you may want to clean your tracks and internet and file history with something like this:
Download Privacy Eraser - MajorGeeks
On the other hand, security agencies and military consider only physical media destruction by shredding disks and melting it under special conditions so I guess there is a chance of retrieving some data from erased disks. It's not exactly like in movies but I guess you would have to be a really bad terrorist for anybody to go very far in trying to revive some data.
Of course, there is internet to consider, whatever got there, it stays there.
If you are selling computer, best way is to erase whole disk truly first and eventually install new OS without your credentials.

I need to know if the HDMI motherboard in a 60" Samsung Plasma TV can be used in a Sony Bravia 52" TV. The motherboard in my Sony died and I have access to one in a Samsung Plasma that's screen cracked.

A:Is a 60" Samsung Plasma HDMI motherboard compatible with a 52" Sony Bravia HDMI motherboard.

No, it would not be, in the past I had to repair a tv for a friend that had his board shorted that was an LCD Sony Bravia 52 Inch and its board was very specific as with all Sony Products. The Boards on the TV's are the hearts and the companies that built them don't allow for parts to be interchanged easily. Your best bet is ebay and finding the part number to find a board, that's how I got the one I used to fix it.

Hello.
I have read the forum on sysprep, however I see that there are some procedures which must be completed before the old HHD is removed and input into the new motherboard.

Problem is.....My old motherboard crashed and I cannot implement sysprep on the old system, how would I get along doing this if the hdd is not botting up on my new motherboard?

A:motherboard died and need new hdd on a new motherboard

For what it is worth, Windows 7 seems to be pretty tolerant of new motherboards. Quite a few people have reported here that they swapped boards, reconnected the old hard drive, and booted OK. Without using Sysprep.

Hey guys

i just finished my build and i have no idea why i went for a motherboard with 2 slots for ram it can hold up to 16gb but luckly ebuyer sent me out an extra 4gb of kingston hyperx ram so i have 8gb all together but theres a problem theres 4 sticks !

obviously i wouldnt want to send it back so what do ya think either upgrade my motherboard and smash the extra 4 gb in there or keep to my original one i dont have money to blow atall im really struggling if its something that will really make a difference ill go with it if not then ill just keep to my original and when i come to buy a graphics card i will get a 2gb graphics card to help with gaming all i really do is gaming i dont really do anything else

thankyou for your time

A:Motherboard 4gb Max or change motherboard for 8gb ?

I'd go with 4 gigs until you had a major reason to believe it wasn't enough. If that ever happens, consider your next move. Most people do just fine with 4 gigs.

I considered 8 gigs on my 4 slot board but decided against it and don't regret it.

Hey to all the people seeing this! First of all thanks for viewing this thread ^^

Right, You may have seen my posts about a faulty motherboard not giving video, If not then it doesn't matter to much because this is the story:
I needed to replace a motherboard as the old one was bad.
The New motherboard came, Still no Video, Dead motherboard
Sending the faulty one back for a refund

NOW heres the dilemma:
I can't find the motherboard again so I'm going to replace it with another ones (make/model not yet decided) But how do I go about installing the drivers for the new one? I've searched Google yet the only thing I could find is being able to boot up the computer to un=install the old ones? Is there anyway to do this without booting it up prior to installing the new MOBO? Many thanks, Mark ^^
