I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

When did this happen? If you know roughly the time period, you can do a system restore to just before that period and that should fix it if it is software based. Also have a look in the Real tech audio 'control panel' and the Windows sound one in case something got disabled.

Hey guys I have been trying to set up my tv so I can watch movies online... to say the least it is not going well.. I have been trying for over 2 hours and 2 trips to Best Buy to figure out why i have no sound on my tv.

My headphone jack does work.
There is a picture due to the vga cable.
I have a Y Cable plugged all in but no sound

Please someone help!!

A:Laptop to TV no audio with VGA cord and y cable

Hey, I've tried to set this up at one point.. VGA doesn't seem to give sound at least on some T.V's so if you have a sound input you could try:
amazon [dot ]

sor maybe you could get something like:
electgadget [dot]

play [dot] com/Electronics/Electronics/4-/20708900/Trixes-HDMI-Male-To-VGA-Cable-1-8m/Product.html?_%24ja=tsid:11518|cat:20708900|prd:20708900

However I don't with to take the blame if any of these don't work

Problem Solved, As suspected it was malware. To fix this launch task manager, then go to start up, go through the list if something dosn't have a icon or dosn't seem to fit in right click and open its file location. If you are definite that it is malware disable it, restart go to the file location and delete all the files.

Hello guys,
So I build myself a new PC and I plugged in the headset that I have and found out that audio is louder on the right side, and I got it centerd after a while but I had to go to Sound manager and manually increase the audio on the left! But then, the sound is more queiter and I don't want that!
I know that this isn't a problem with my headset because they work fine on other PCs and I tride some others headphones and they had the same issue(on this PC)! My audio drivers are up to date and they are Realtek HD audio!
Is there anyone that knows how to fix this?
Thanks in advance!

first I already wanna thank everybody who replies to this and try to help me. Yesterday morning I tried to download a sound driver that would make the Stereo Mix option available. It was not from the original website of Realtek or HP. It was from here: After I finished the installation and restarted my PC there was a red cross next to the sound icon and when I tried to open volumemixer it said 'No audio output device installed'. I tried to uninstall it with system restore. Than I also tried to install the latest sound drivers from the Realtek and HP site but both didn't work. Also I saw on another topic that maybe some services were stopped but that wasn't. Now I really don't know what to do. Hope someone can help me.

I even uninstalled SKYPE as suggested. The test in REALTEK is also okay. Please, any assistace would be more than appreciated.

Well, one way or another, your computer isn't using the device, so have you checked to see if it's disabled in any way? right click the speaker and go to playback devices, it'll come up with a list of your sound devices, make sure the one you're trying to use isn't disabled (right click to change that) if you're unsure which is yours, just enable them all lemme know if that helps at all

Hey ya so I'm having pretty much the same problem and I'm not finding anything you guys are talking about. Here's my problem. Like the rest of you I'm having troubles with recording the audio from my computer using the stereo-mix setting in audacity. This occurs only when my usb microphone is plugged in. I understand that it has something to do with changing the inputs or outputs or something I'm just having trouble understanding where those are on my computer. My setup is this. I'm running on a laptop that has windows technical preview. My microphone is directly plugged into my laptop via usb (obviously) and my headset plugged directly into the microphone. If someone could please tell me step by step where to go on the computer and what to do to fix this so that I can have my microphone plugged in and also record my computer that would be great. I know this is over 2 years old but I'm hoping someone sees this and is able to help.

A:Trouble recording audio

I am surprised no one has replied to this yet, but no worries, I will do my best to help solve your problem

So from the sounds of it, you are having troubles with Audacity noticing your Microphone to record audio. Now, I have never used this program before, but from the sounds of it the only thing you are missing is setting your headset/microphone to the default in windows.

Now, I have not used Windows Technical Preview either, but based on how window's has operated since Windows Vista I am going to say it's safe to assume I could point you in the right direction to the very least.

To start, in the bottom right hand corner (Near your time) you have icons. One of them should look like a speaker, right click it and select "Recording Devices" In here you should have the option to make your Microphone the Default device.

Another way to get to this option if it's no longer accessible the way I described is to go to Control Panel, if you have the option in the upper right hand corner of the screen that says "View by:" and change it to large or small icons. There should now be one just called "Sound" in there go to "Recording" at the top.

Now in this window, find out which one is your device, easiest way is to make sure the mic is not muted (a lot of headsets have a mute button on them) and just speak into the mic, you should see the bar fill with a bit of green when you're taking, this indicates it's picking up sound. Set the "Default" to the headset you are using and then close and reopen Audacity (most of the time if the program is open when you change the default, it wont pick up on it)

let me know if any of that worked, didn't work, or you have any trouble finding what I have mentioned.

I just got a new computer...with Realtek HD Audio. Specifically: Realtek ALC888S.

The computer has no bass. Music played through YouTube, Winamp, WMP, iTunes, or through games have essentially nothing coming out of the sub.

I do have 5.1 selected, that is what my setup is.

Here is the weird thing. When I plug my MP3 Player into the Line-In and play through there, the bass sounds great. When I play from inside the computer, there is none. Can anyone point me to some places to look inside the Realtek HD Audio Manager? I can't seem to find anything useful in there at all.

A:Realtek HD audio, no bass

have you checked the bass management and swap bass and center option? you might want to try checking those option to check if it bring back the bass.

btw also try the 5.1 speaker test to check if all channels sound properly.

Hi. I am looking for a new PC/Laptop mainly for audio editing and some amateur video editing. I have read around the web and found a few things I probably want in on my computer:

Firewire or IEEE 1394 input,
An SSD hard-drive or atleast an 7200rpm hard drive
A half-decent video card for video editing
A decent sized RAM (atleast 8 gb I think)
Processor which isnt a slug probably

I was looking at a refurbished Mac Mini for 579. (
It has some good reviews online and since Im not too experienced with computers an Apple product would probably give me less headaches. The Intel HD 4000 isnt too good though, which might be a problem for video editing. The hard drive isn't fast either, but I read, that that can be replaced.

Hi there, I've been having some real frustrating experiences trying to get my speakers to work. it all started when I replaced my hard drive after the old one died. The speakers I plugged in via audio/ headphone jack stopped working. The computer doesnt recognize any playback devices through the jack. But it will recognize my usb headphones no problem. I've tried every possible solution to this problem already listed on other sites (updating drivers, checking sound to enabled disabled audio devices, ect.) and none of them have worked. Any ideas? Also please dont post the whole "go to device manager and update drivers, or check sound to enable devices", I;ve already done that and it didnt work. Im looking for some real insight, not just a "solve all" solution.

A:Windows 7 will not detect speakers via audio jack.

The title says it all. I recently started playing Medal of Honor and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and on both games I get a frozen screen with looping audio which forces me to shut the computer down via the power button.

after doing some searching around on the net and trying various solutions, I have determined the next step is to disable on board sound. I know this sounds like a noobish question but, is there any way to get sound out of my computer? is there a BIOS setting that allows me to disable the on board sound but still get sound out my PC? these 2 games rely heavily on being able to hear what is going on,

I have an ABIT IP35 Pro with no secondary sound card.

A:Can I get audio if I turn onboard sound off without a sound card?

No that'd be impossible. if you turn off the onboard sound, how are you gonna get some sound delivered to your speaker or headphone?

you should try disabling the onboard sound and check if it fixes the issue. if it did, also try to uninstall your current audio driver and install the newest one.

looping audio does not always means the onboard sound is faulty. it usually goes on loop because that portion of the soundtrack is already loaded into RAM. therefore it still plays even when the computer froze.

the problem might lies in other thing such as video card or overheating CPU since you indicate it only occurs when you're playing games.

I am just trying to come to grips with possibilities using my new Asus Xonar DG Soundcard.
It's a well reviewed but low cost card @ $28 & I selected it to replace my failed on-board Card.
So I now have my desktop amplified speakers set up, but they are budget variety & somewhat limited, although I do not expect or need high volume.
I happen to have several small (ex car) amps, & several pairs of reasonably sized reasonable quality speakers, so I thought "what about a 4 speaker set up"?
Is this possible & how can it be wired up?
If done this way should I hook up a double gang log pot to control volume rather than use the on screen slide control which is not that easy when you are doing other things.

A:Making best of 5.1 sound card without 5.1 audio files

There should be a 'speaker fill' checkbox or similar in your audio manager.

Alternatively, you can use a splitter to split the L/R audio between the front jack and rear jack, giving you the same sound coming from the four speakers.

Or, you may find that it's annoying....

1) Go into BIOS setup. What BIOS version is running? And make sure you've looked through each BIOS menu page? (There might be different BIOS tabs. Does the BIOS screen display indicate any other ways to get through the its menus? e.g. some BIOS may also use Page Up and Page Down)

I also remember installing malwarebytes to try to clean up my computer and I remember it sayin it deleted a trojan in system volume restore or somethin like that. I system restored to a bunch of points and that didnt work. I checked the BIOS and everything is normal. I've tried to install many audio driivers.I've gone to the device manager and I dont know if my sound driver is even there anymore nor do I know what it was. Please help, trust me I've googled this topic for at least a month with no avail.

Strange is the only word I could come up with.
I( am using an on board audio on ASUS M5A97 r2.0. Which is Realtek.
For some reason the output is often only comes out of only one speaker (left). I thought that it could have been something wrong with my speakers, but I noticed that whenever I play games the sound comes from both speakers. I have also disabled the HDMI sound device for my video card, to no avail. I thought the two might have had a conflict. I tried changing various settings in Realtek control panel and Windows own sound settings, but nothing worked. I am out of ideas.

Anyone know what I can do? I have a 2.1 speaker setup, for now and the sub works just fine.

For the last few months I have been having random sporadic audio cutouts. I will be listening to music or playing a video and it cuts out. The oddness continues when I don't have the same issue playing a game, or when using my turtle beach headset (except when the head set hits interference). I have tried replacing the speakers and it seemed fine for a couple days and now the issue has returned.

A:Audio cuts out sporadically

What antivirus/anti malware programs are you running?

Ok. It seems that the green output plug is broken, because all of the sudden it only sends audio to the left speaker. So...

1. I plugged my speakers into the blue input
2. Changed the behaviour of it to output audio, in the realtek audio manager
3. Worked fine!

But after shutting down or restaring the PC, the selected behaviour goes back to normal and I have to manually configure it from input audio to output audio.

What can I do? Please help

A:Realtek audio in/out plugs don't keep configuration after restarting

Perhaps you have damaged your sound system by over-driving the unit. Do you have replaceable parts.

Have you tried uninstalling all audio drivers and rebooting, then let windows install it's generic audio driver and see if there's sound? Sometimes another program or driver will corrupt the audio driver and requires un-installing the hardware (in Device Manager) and re-booting, then see if Windows finds a driver for it. I looked on Asus website for the latest audio drivers, but for the 4 versions of this motherboard, none have driver support for Vista or newer, only up to XP. Why are you using Vista, anyway? That's arguably the worst OS in existence, mostly because of driver problems. Still, Vista should have generic drivers for on board audio in it's driver database or you could try using the XP drivers from Asus . If that doesn't work you may have a fried sound card. I've seen this problem a few times on older systems, either all drivers and everything looks good but still no sound, or drivers won't install because this hardware has a problem. In these cases I was forced to assume the output side was fried (after hours of troubleshooting and trying 3rd party drivers) and just install a cheap ($20) audio card (which probably sounds better than the on board audio anyway). I see you have PCI and PCIe slots so any card will fit. Here's a decent card for cheap;
Good luck!

Try using slimware utilities. It may be able to pick up some drivers for you.

You may have to go to the laptops website and try some of the original drivers. For that model. I have have had success with computers. Before going from vista to xp using the original drivers.

Hopefully someone eles will give you a hand to. That might know of some good websites to get drivers.

Make sure you have the latest version of Flash installed. Does this occur on all browsers? Do you have any plug-ins running or audio codec's installed? You could even go as far as checking to make sure your video drivers are all up to date.

if the mouse is being moved while it is stuttering, it will freeze with the same frequency as the audio!Click to expand...

When this happens. Does the computer it self freeze or just the video?

Pls anyone who can advise me on how to fix this minor issue.. So I had a windows welcome tune whenever I on my PC.. but after a few minutes, there are no sounds when I watch online or some movies on my pc.. and when I click the audio icon on taskbar, it states that there are no active audio mixers.. So I just go to services.msc and windows audio then start it, then everything's fine.. not until I restart my PC.. it is set to Automatic but it just stops on its own after every restart.. I thought of having a system restore but afraid of what might happen.

Hey guys I ve got a few questions regarding audio recording or rather the tech involved Right now I m using a laptop asus K E biggest mistake of my entire life I want to do some audio recording but there s an annoying hum in the background I know that this is either because of the Audio questions recording fans buzzing Audio recording questions or the fact that I m using an onboard quot sound card quot hooks up straight to my motherboard I plan to do some podcasting and just some plain fun with audio recordings so I need crisp quality with no negative artifacts Seeing that this is a laptop with a warranty which I do not want to void Audio recording questions I am considering a different take on things I want to get an external sound card Audio recording questions via the method of USB or a USB mic headset I know a few audiophiles not an offensive word and they have told me that every thing related to audio that is done externally sounds a lot better than anything an onboard system could do So any tips I ve got my eye on a soundcard and a few headsets and mics tho I don t know which option to choose So the sound card Probably ganna go with the Creative X-Fi Go Pro it has a lot of nice reviews and stuff but they mainly emphasize on audio output and not input so I could be throwing in the water My second option is a USB headset or headsets I don t know any good ones so any tips would be great Third last but not least A USB mic I d like something like the Blue Snowball vanilla or not makes no difference to me So that s about it any ideas Thank you for your time nbsp

A:Audio recording questions

constant humming may be result of poor grounding. make sure you use 3-pin plug from your notebook adapter and the wall plug supports grounding. that being said, onboard aren't designed with quality in mind so it probably have some low hissing. somehow in my experience noise from desktops' onboards are way worse than laptop ones.

but if you're going to do lots of recording, I'd suggest an proper USB microphone. for the same amount of money as the Go! it'd probably have a better input quality. if you already have a good mic, try X-Fi HD USB instead.

A:Onboard audio problems after moving components to new case

Hi, If you replaced all the cables as they were then you should have no trouble.
The front panels are in 2 groups. The USB sockets are 1 group with a cable that runs over to the motherboard.
The front panel audio board has 2 cables that run from it to a single free socket, and that plugs onto a connector on the motherboard that has 5 pins in one row and 4 pins on the other row, with one pin empty.
But I would think it's more likely the problem is the settings in Windows.
Right click on the speaker icon in the taskbar, choose 'playback devices', and if your speakers are plugged into the back of the pc, you should see them in the list. They should have a green tick over the speakers.
If not, right click on the speaker line, and choose 'enable', that should put the sound signals onto the socket where your external speakers are connected to.
* Might also be worth testing that your external speakers are working by plugging them into something you know works, such as a mp3 player, mobile, or tape player output. It's possible the speakers are not getting power. (Power LED on one speaker).
*Also check for muted audio in Windows, and the 'on/vol' control on the actual speakers.

Hello this is my first post in here so sorry for lack of knowledge and crappy english Since two days I have a problem with my audio It started after installing codemasters Dirt I also installed F after that and know they both come with rapture d Problem however is that even when using software -setting instead of rapture the sound is good for a few minutes then fades to left-speaker for another few minutes and then it s completely gone This only happens when playing games playing songs watching movies audio on f e youtube or other internet-apps gives no audio-problems The strange thing is that I already had Codemasters Grid installed and played it for a few months without any problem Now the audio-problem also appears when playing Grid Also after the problem has occured the sound stays gone for a few minutes so no sound on other then gaming-applications Specs of PC ASUS P H D-M Pro motherboard Intel i - processor using build in HD audio realtek ALC codec win Ultimate speakers two creative speakers subwoofer on jack Things I already tried - changing Rapture D-settings - set audio to software-driver instead of rapture - uninstalling rapture - uninstalling realtek audio-driver and re-installing from asus site - changing speaker settings on realtek-app from plain stereo to - puting speaker jack from back- to front-input Really getting desperate because it s so Audio fades and dies frustrating to have good sound first few minutes only to discover that it still fades after minutes and thus have to exit game again Hope someone can help me with this one nbsp

A:Audio fades and dies

Yesterday I firstly 'undusted my motherboard, graphic card,...', because saw that temperature in PC was getting very high
(suspect that this was the main cause?)
then went by 'method of determination?':
- deleted Dirt 3, F1 2011 and rapture from PC...
- tried audio in Grid (no audio problem)
- installed F1 2011 + rapture (no audio problem)
- installed Dirt 3 (no audio problem)

Played Dirt 3 and F1 for more then an hour without fading sound,
so hopefully the issue won't come back
