I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

"AMD graphics card owners that have tried playing The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt or Project Cars are likely already aware of the fact that both titles run like crap on Radeon hardware."

At the risk of pointing out the obvious, "runs like crap" doesn't strike me as professional an expression as "runs terribly" or "are both exceptionally poor performers on..." It may convey the sentiments of the accompanying article comments, but those are supposed to be crude.

Your GPU maybe going bad, it happens from time to time and this is based on the fact you have uninstalled everything and tried again. Have you also tried lowering the graphics settings in both games lower to see if that helps? Also try making sure Physx is off because thats very demanding for a 740m since Batman has Physx.

My advice is to seek your notebook manufacturer if nothing I said helps and see if they can replace the card in it. I don't know what else off the top of my head you could try since you have done by the sound of things everything correct.

Hey Everyone,

I'm not sure whether this is the correct place to post this (I'm new here). Sorry if it's the wrong place!

So my problem is I am running a laptop on windows XP. Every time I start up the computer, it prompts me to install device drivers (HID-compliant devices and stuff). The weird part is, I've already installed those drivers when I first got the computer. I've learned to just press cancel every time those prompts pop up, but I'm wondering if I'm able to stop them from popping up every single time I start the computer. I'm also curious as to why it's doing this. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Specs:
Operating System: Windows XP Service Pack 3
Processor: Intel core 2 duo
RAM: 2GB DDR3 RAM
Brand: Lenovo R500
Graphics: Intel R 4 series express chipset family (on-board)

A:Drivers always prompting to re-install (windows XP)

I'm far from an expert, but why not let them install to see if it quits prompting you? If all else fails, you can roll them back. After all, they could be "updated drivers". Just my thoughts.

A:Nvidia vs AMD when it comes to drivers (who is best for long run)?

Bang for buck at time of purchase is usually AMD. Yeah, NVIDIA has better driver support.. but with a mid-range card I'd just go with AMD.

If you aren't spending money to keep up with the times, don't expect the latest releases to run like butter. That's pretty much it.

A:Can't connect to Internet even with new drivers

I think a first step here is to go to Device Manager and remove any/all network adapters you see there, and then reboot.

Second step would be to get the network adapter driver from Dell's site for your dell desktop and Windows 7.

If step 2 is able to be done (like they don't have a win 7 driver for it) you should still see something in Device Manager even if you don't have a proper driver for it. Windows should be able to give you a hardware ID for it, google that and get the Win 7 driver from the chipset provider/manufacturer.

Hey Burty,
A couple of very good CPU blocks for you. I have used both and they are excellent. They are nonrestrictive and are not TIM dependent due to the excellent contact they make. I have the 370 in mine right now and am moving to the 380 next week.
Here are reviews on those:
http://skinneelabs.com/koolance-cpu-370-block-review/10/
http://www.xtremerigs.net/reviews/water-cooling/2012-cpu-water-block-roundup/
Its a long-shot, but if I can find a review of this block and it's as good I am going to give it a try:

One of the very good rads out there is the Alphacool NexXxos XT line. They are all copper (channels, tank, fins, tank caps, even the mounting screws) They have a very light paint job on the channels/fins and are very efficient and low restrictiveness. They also have access to all three sides of the tank giving you more routing options:

http://www.frozencpu.com/products/1...pper_Triple_120mm_Radiator.html?tl=g30c95s161. As far as the size of tubing, pick the one that appeals to you aesthetically, and matches the need for turns and bends in your case. I prefer 1/2" ID, but it's a cosmetic thing mostly. You will not see a major difference in temps from the 3/8" - 1/2" unless you are cooling multiple GPU's in a loop.

The fittings were an expensive trial for me. I landed on a combo of BitsPower (the best fittings on the market IMO) and Monsoon.
Personally I won't use anything but compression, but thats just my aesthetics preference.
As far as fans go for radiators. I don't go with anything less than 2.0 mmH2O static pressure. Short of getting into the noisy (30+ dB) range.
I tried/tested more fans that I care to remember and ended up using these:

http://www.coolermaster-usa.com/product.php?product_id=2965&product_name=Excalibur (R4-EXBB-20PK-R0)
Thet run at 3.53 mmH2O and really pull a lot of air through a rad. This is not scientific, but
observational that the static pressure curve seems very steep and they hold a disproportionate amount of their pressure at a lower RPM. Either that or Static pressure ratings are not well regulated or measured differently by various companies.
If extremely quietness is more important. The Cougars are very good. @ 19dB they are rated @ 2.2 mmH2O:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835553002
Do yourself a favor and cut in a custom, easy to access drain point for yourself. It makes things much easier.
This is how I did mine: ***The orange Arrow is pointing to it. I just used a acrylic block with G-1/4 fittings on three sides at the bottom of the loop. I can have it drained in 60 seconds.
http://img39.imageshack.us/img39/4188/94c8f23aholodekquad.jpg

As far as tubing goes, You will get many impassioned responses to this, but I will say PrimoChill tentatively. I find it has more of a rubber feel to it, a great consistent gloss finish, and will take tighter radius's before kinking.
You should however read the latest feedback on how the tubing you choose is working with the fittings you choose, hazing, and other properties. Fittings such as the Monsoon line are particularly dependent on the O.D. dimension being bang on for maximum effectiveness and workability.
I tried one brand of tubing that made the Monsoon a 'non-compression' fitting because the O.D. was under sized. It's worth purchasing a 12" snip of each tubing you are interested in for a test fit IMO.

Hope some of that helps.

Hi all! Please help! My wife's notebook, (ASUS G71GX, Win 7, wireless card Atheros AR928X), wireless connection to our home LAN (D-Link DIR-655) suddenly stopped. It shows the available networks, but cannot connect to it. The hardware manager shows no problem with the wireless card.

I'm not sure what the problem is, but could it be the drivers, not the hardware? So far, I uninstalled and re-installed the driver for the AR928X. No changes, but maybe I didn't do it right.

Never mind. Thanks. I ended up deleting my home network, and then re-creating it. That solved the problem, even though I still do not understand how that worked

I currently have a gtx 560 ti and I'm acquiring a gtx 670. So, in the end, both cards will be under the hood. The 670 will go into the currently 560 ti slot and the 560 ti will go into the currently empty slot. Both use the same driver, do I have to reinstall it, or just stick the new gpu to the mobo and be happy ever after?

A:Do I have to reinstall the drivers when adding a new GPU?

Generally, I say you should always re-install graphics drivers when adding a new card.

What is the reason for running both cards at the same time?

I recently bought a 1TB external drive in the first month was the paradise of about three months here been hell ...

The problem is that the windows when i connect the disk, sometimes it correctly detects and installs the correct drivers, other times it detects wrong and installs other wrong drivers.
When you install the wrong windows drivers in Disk Manager says that is not present or does not detect the capacity, despite the indication that I have the the connected USB device. Another indicator light is always on the disc, rather than intermittently (indicating that it is accessing data) ...

To be even more difficult the drivers are registry keys ...

Have tested it on several PC with W7 and XP sp3 and the problem still occurs ...

Have I contacted the support of the disc but the impression I got is that understand of hardware even less than me ...

Can you help me please!!

A:Wrong plug-and-play drivers

OMG! what is the brand/make/model of the external drive in question?!? I have never heard of a known brand to do something like that unless the enclosure itself is hosed and/or beginning to fail. Post back & let me know, take care!

Hello Everyone,

Been a long time browser of TS and am glad to finally join. I am looking to utilize a Q6600 processor and the following system board and RAM:

ASUS P5G41T-M LX Plus
Corsair XMS3 1333MHz PC3-10666

The goal is to moderately overclock the Q6600 to 3.2 GHz. In my research, I have read many positive reviews about the stability of ASUS boards, and the DDR3 capability is significant to me. However, from what I have gathered, this board can be fussy when overclocking the CPU. Has anyone had any experience with a similar setup?

I would appreciate any thoughts/comments/suggestions.

Thank you!

A:New project: LGA 775 board w/ DDR3 needed -- thoughts please?

Firstly, why do you need to overclock it? I'm guessing its more because you want to, than necessity, but my thoughts are below.

I run the exact same CPU in my system 24/7 and while it might be long in the tooth compared with most systems on here, it's certainly not lacking at stock speeds as it is.

Not sure if system specs is easily read right now, but for the sake of doubt, mine are: Intel Core2Quad Q6600 G0 stepping (at stock OC with Corsair H50 (push/pull) providing cooling), Abit AW9D-MAX, 8GB OCZ Gold series DDR2-1066, HD6870, Antec HCG-620 PSU, a SSD and six mechanical disks.

I wouldn't call 3.2GHz a moderate OC on the Q6600, that's more like 2.8-3.0GHz. I used to have mine overclocked but the difference was so minimal (in real terms) that the additional heat it gave off and power it consumed made it pointless. I was never able to achieve 3.05GHz or above either, but I've no doubt that more experienced hands would have managed it. Overclocking is my weaker subject in the field of IT generally speaking, and I can't say I've ever really pushed the envelope very far in that regard.

Though that said, I've always found Gigabyte boards to be much more forgiving when it comes to RAM settings. Asus in my experience can be a real nightmare with recognising the default timings and voltages for RAM, and in "my experience" need much more work to achieve the same result.

Another point that needs to be considered is LGA-775 is legacy hardware now, so you'd be spending money on defunct hardware. If you have the CPU it might be better to grab a second-hand board off of eBay or something, or maybe look to something newer and more current.

I have an Xbox (not 360) and an old computer and am in need of ideas and preferably a guide of something that i can build out of the old parts. The computer has a monitor and keyboard and the xbox has one controller. My major problem is I do NOT have a soldering iron so many project ideas are not possible for me. I would also like to keep this project low budget.

XBox Linux?

I'm sure you've already ran across that though.

Whats wrong with just soft modding it and getting emulators for older console systems and playing old ROMs?

Hi guys, bought a new PC recently and got everything set up fine, except the GPU.

Its all installed correctly but when I go to install the drivers from either Windows Update or the given CD and restart to save changes, I lose video signal.

I see the boot screen and Windows 7 loading bar, afterwards my screen says "Mode not supported".

I'm using the Nvidia 560 Ti and my screen is a Samsung LE19R86BD.

Is the installation possibly switching to 1080 while my monitor isn't supporting it?

A:No video signal after installing GPU software/drivers

I've read that there are times when the driver can't properly read the EDID data from the TV, and causes display problem. Can you boot into safe mode, change the display setting to 1440x900, then reboot into normal mode? Looks like your nVidia card has both HDMI & DVI connection, maybe try changing connection from one type to the other?

The driver I found on nVidia's site is version 285.62. Is that what you have?

A:Grandpa/grandson low budget PC project advice

I built this PC for myself 2 weeks ago and I LOVE IT!!! It will easily last me the next 3-5 years before I would have to do any MAJOR upgrade.

Antec 300 case $35
Intel i5 2500k cpu
Asus p8z68-v lx motherboard (bundled with cpu for $250)
OCZ ZX series 650w power supply $80
Sapphire Radeon HD 6870 1GB ($145 after rebate from newegg)
SanDisk Ultra SDSSDH-120G-G25 2.5" 120GB SATA II Internal Solid State Drive ($125)
8GB Corsair XMS 1600 RAM ($45)
Samsung DVD-R OEM ($20)
Windows 7 Pro 64-bit

Please note that HDD prices are triple what they should be due to the mass flooding in Taiwan. If you buy your listed HDD now you will pay the same as a 1 Terabyte HDD in a few months. The SSD drive will be MUCH MUCH faster and will get you through the price increase. and you can add a mechanical drive in the future. SSD will easily hold Win OS, most frequently used software and games.

Hello, First of all thanks to anyone who can help.

Here is my problem: I just built my brother his computer for Xmas and everything is brand new and the computer is "working". Yet every time I start a game or try to get the system rating the comp either freezes, restarts, or blue screens. I've updated the video card half a dozen times and It says that it is updated yet problems still occur.

Here are the specs

OS- Windows 7 64bit
Video card- AMD Radeon HD 6900
Processor- AMD 6 core 6100
Motherboard- 990FX Sabertooth
Ram- 8gs
Power- antec 900w
HD- 2 terabyte

A:Drivers are updated, but PC keeps freezing

Although that processor is supported by the motherboard, it's possible that the BIOS is an older version, pre-FX.

Hi all i have what porbably are dumb questions but i need clarification all the same please i just bought a XFX HD GPU upon your recomendation and was wondering if i should uninstall all the nVidia stuff in add and remove except the driver before i remove the card or just remove the card install my new one then uninstall the nvidia stuff I have a spare gigabyte GT GPU which i would like to give to my dad as he has an old Pack-Bell iMedia which he uses in the lounge to watch Uninstall for installation? drivers fresh GPU films on and browse the net Uninstall drivers for fresh GPU installation? The PSU in this old machine is only a watt and the GT reqiures a w minimum but as he wont be playing games or doing any photo editing etc only watching mp films would the PSU still power it reason i ask is it has a HDMI connection and his stock card is the old blue pin plug so i thought is would get a better pic using my new card also the GT is mb and the stock one is only mb Your thoughts please Thanks Lee nbsp

A:Uninstall drivers for fresh GPU installation?

1. Yes, you can remove all the Nvidia components through Add/Remove, although it's probably easier to download a utility such as Driver Sweeper which will remove the driver, PhysX, HD audio, Update etc in one move... Just remember that the system will likely revert to a lower VGA (640 x 480) screen resolution.
You can then power down, replace the card and install the driver/catalyst control centre etc.
Once you're up and running it would pay to bring up the Device Manager, click the "View" tab and check "Show hidden devices", then expand the "Display adapters" heading. If your previous card shows up -right click and select uninstall.

2. You say that your dad's computer is an "old Pack-Bell..". Power supplies gradually lose their effective output over time as components in the power supply wear, so his 250w PSU is likely much less. The GT210 isn't a power hog by any means (30.5w max) but picking up a suitable (and relatively cheap) PSU might be a good investment in any case, especially if the computer/PSU are 5+ years old.

Any ideas? The mouse is a "Wireless Optical Mouse M/N:SM-502C"

Finding drivers

I have been using the free download program called 'Drivereasy' from 'www.drivereasy.com'. I use the version 2.6.1 which scans your PC, lists all the drivers missing or needing updates, and you can choose to download and/or install. In fact the free version is quite slow to use, but you can pay for a faster version if wanted. I find the information it gives about the drivers is accurate, so you can get them elsewhere if you like. The biggest drivers on my PC are the Graphic card, but I know to get that one elsewhere. This site does not charge for the downloads either, unlike many. Worth a try.

A:No audio after drivers installed

Are you using a laptop, or a desktop? What model HP are you using (if it's a laptop, the model # will be on a sticker located on the bottom of the laptop. If it's a desktop, it should be on the front, or back)? Instead of Everest, try Belarc advisor's free download .

What OS are you using?

Right click on "Computer" on the desktop, and select "Manage". Under "System Tools" on the left side, select "Device Manager" and look to see if your sound card is working properly. Don't worry about the services just yet.

As for your Driver Robot program, I suggest you uninstall it and get a refund. http://www.computing.net/answers/security/driver-robot-blitware-scams/28802.html Get a good antivirus program as well, and follow the steps listed here

Firstly, am new to this site so sorry if this has been posted before.

I have a problem with my USB memory stick. I was using it fine with no problem but now when i plug it in a bubble comes up saying it has not been recognised and has malfunctioned - when i click on the bubble it says unknown device and then when i click on that it says in device status box that no drivers are installed. How do I get drivers? Memory stick was free from an ICT company, laptop is a toshiba?

What do I do, memory stick has so much work on it that I need!

Please help me!

PS...
Am running XP, my other memory sticks work???

A:USB flash drive malfunctioned? No drivers?

I have this issue sometimes with a SDHC card I use for readyboost in Windows 7 on my laptop.

I find that ejecting it via My Computer (right click the icon and eject) or from the "Safely Remove" hardware icon on the taskbar, and then re-inserting it solves the problem and its recognised again.

I sometimes have to do it several times though before it recognises. I'm sure there is an easier solution, but it works for me.

I have two webcams, one by Nexxtech and another by MIOS - rather non-descript USB Camera.

The Nexxtech camera seems to need a driver - I have installed it. But the MIOS likely uses the one in Win XP SP3. Why is that? Why won't one driver work for both cameras?

Rationale: I want to develop some software to process the live video, but could one piece of software be used for both cameras?

I am a noob about web cams and video processing.

Regards,
Lou.

A:Two webcams - why separate drivers?

Hi louarnold

A few comments

The drivers which can be used by a web cam are dictated by the web cam manufacturer
The mfr programs a set of "IDs" into each of their devices (such as web cams). The device sends its IDs to Windows. Windows uses these IDs to find suitable drivers which will match (i.e. "support") the IDs. (Window can find zero, or one or even more then one match!)
> If Windows finds zero driver matches, you get a "No Driver Found" type of error
> If Windows only finds one driver match, it uses that driver
> If Windows finds more then one driver match on your machine, Windows chooses what it thinks is the best match of all the matching choices it found on your machine.

See Plug and Play Overview: How Windows Finds Drivers for USB Devices

I am a noob about web cams and video processing.Click to expand...

Am just curious though, if you say you're a noob, will you know how to do all the video processing to do what you want?

I have an ATI Radeon HD3650 AGP series card in my PC & it plays most games great, but the only thing is the support for drivers.
I've tried quite a few & there's always a problem, so i currently have a hot-fix installed.

Anyone know of any custom drivers for this card ?

A:Realtek AC'97 audio - drivers installed properly & services running but no audio

Hi muazzam

Is best to upgrade to SP3 (if only because MS has dropped support for SP2) but can start, for now, looking at your problem while you continue running with SP2

Let's start with these initial steps
1) List any Problem Devices

Make sure all your devices are connected and powered on
Click Start->Run, enter: msinfo32. Click the + sign next to Components to expand it
Click Problem Devices. Anything appear?
If yes, click on it, Ctrl-A to select all, Ctrl-C to copy it, Ctrl-V to paste into next post
2) Generate and attach a DirectX report

click Start->Run, enter dxdiag
Notice progress in lower left window corner
When done, click Save Information button and save to your Desktop
In TechSpot, use the paper clip icon to attach the report. (If you don't see icon you may need to first click Go Advanced)
3) If there were no Problem Devices (step 1 above) then also check on your Windows Audio service if Status=Started and StartupType=Automatic

I'll have a look and we can take it from there

Hi folks

I'm developing a project in C++ and I want to get the best performance possible. My software code should be platform independent, so I can run it in any OS. My knowledge about hardware is almost "null", so I came here to ask a newbie question
Today, I am compiling the project only for 32 bit machines, forcing the OS of 64 bit machines to translate the compiled instructions.

My question is: This approach I've chosen (compile only in 32 bit) impacts the performance negatively if I run it in a 64 bit machine? Is so, would it be slower than a 32 bit machine (completely equivalent machine, but 32 bit), or it would have the same speed?

Thanks in advance for your attention

A:32-bit vs 64-bit for C++ project

I really know almost nothing about this, so fools rush in. A 64 bit computer is a 32 bit computer until something tells it it isn't. So, many programs are 32 bit and a 64 bit deals with them as such. To the best of my very limited knowledge, you don't actually have to "force" a 64 bit machine to deal with 32 bit software, it does that natively.

As to speed of execution a 32 bit program would have slower execution speed than a 64 bit, all other things being equal.

With that said, probably a more important consideration is to write code that is capable of taking full advantage of the current crop of hyper threading and multi-core CPUs.

I think that multi-threading in a 32 bit program, would likely exceed single thread performance @ 64 bit.

They will be on the website of the manufacturer... or with help from their tech support site.

A:Recent reinstall lost drivers help

Reinstalling Windows will require the installation of those drivers. You didn't do anything wrong. It just is. Go to the PC manufacturer's (Dell, HP, Acer, etc.) for most of those drivers if you don't have a driver CD. If the PC is self built or custom built, then go to the motherboard maker's website for those drivers. Go to the graphics card maker's website for graphics drivers.

I have a motherboard that came from HP xw3100. Part number is 323091-001. HP d530 has the exact same mobo, based on the part number.

Strangely, on HP's website xw3100's BIOS and drivers have not been updated since 2003 whereas d530 has more recent versions. So, can I use the BIOS and drivers for d530 on this?

Thanks.

A:HP mobo BIOS and drivers

If your Computer was manufactured in the Model run that you quote as "2003 era" then this is your BIOS driver. The difference between the two MoBo might not be that significant but if you really want check get a magnifying glass and check all the stripes on all the DIODES. One different colored line or different combination of the all the same colors but in a different sequence is an actual difference in manufacturing technique. Maybe you should use a microscope just in-case the difference is only that big.
I use a BIOS driver for my Gigabyte GA-8GE800 Pro MoBo that were last released in 2004. I update with these in-case my current drivers become corrupted eg. refresh to make new-like

I can't explain why but suddenly none of sound drivers including the Windows defaults are showing in the Control Panel for sounds or audio. I've reinstalled the driver for my Delta 44 card three times, ran repair on XP Pro twice and still no show or sound. All drivers are listed as working in Device Manager. I see on the internet that this is not uncommon, but how do you fix it?

A:Sound drivers not showing in XP Control Panel

Hmmmm.. Are you saying the default Sounds and Audio is also missing from Control Panel???? Is your sound otherwise working OK? It's just the stuff missing from Control Panel???

I don't know i have an answer.. but here's some info/things to try
> Note the "drivers" are what you see in Device Manager (so good they're still there!)
> The stuff in Control Panel aren't the drivers.

To try restoring the Control Panel applets try
> Look in Add/Remove programs. Do you see an entry for your Delta 44? Uninstall it
> Reboot and then try reinstalling the Delta44 stuff

Also, you should also be able to start the standard Windows Sound and Audio applet by Start->Run, enter: mmsys.cpl then click OK

I'm still learning.....

When I log on computer, screen shows "The ATI control panel
failed to initialize because no ATI driver is installed, or ATI driver is not working properly. The ATI control panel will now exit".

I know that has been discussed here, but this is my question: Isn't ATI a video card? I have Nvidea GeForce FX5500 in my system (XP, 1 G Ram)) yet this error message always appears. When I pull up display adaptors in device mgr, my Nvidea shows, nothing for ATI does.

So, do I need both? I just updated drivers on my video card and direct x due to a game freezing. That didn't help. Then I remembered this error message and wondered if it had something to do with it.

Thanks alot for any help.

A:Do I need Ati drivers if I have Nvidia video card?

You don't need ATI drivers-they are for AMD/ATI graphics cards- uninstall them.
Use Driver Sweeper here:
http://downloads.guru3d.com/Guru3D---Driver-Sweeper-(Setup)-download-1655.html
in preference to "Add and Remove Programs" in the control panel. I would uninstall both the ATI and nVidia drivers and re-install the applicable nVidia driver to ensure you get an uncorrupted install.
The DirectX update should be fine.

You should only have the graphics driver from your graphics card vendor ( the manufacturer) i.e. Gigabyte, MSI, XFX, EVGA etc. If the card is an OEM product then download from here http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

FX5xxx branded cards (not OEM) may not run with the nVidia Forceware drivers so make sure you use the manufacturers recommended download if available.

Hello all, hope you had a good Xmas, and looking forward to the New Year.

I'm wondering here whether any hardware people do beta testing in public.
I have done some beta testing on software, but never hardware.
Does Intel, Asus, NVidia, BFG, ATI/AMD, or any of the big guys have a public beta on their latest products?

If so, how do I get a shot to get into the program?

?? Frank

A:Beta testing hardware?

First, a resume to show you know what you are doing, and that you have the qualifications and experience. That is a big hurdle to get by.
Then you can contact them with a full technical description, along with what sorts of testing are needed.
Most folks designing something have the connections already, as rarely does anything just pop up as a good idea.
You can do the test yourself, to the extent of your limits, and write it up for publication online on in one of the appropriate technical journals, or "Amateur" publications.

Unigine has released a DX11 benchmark tool called 'Heaven' V 1.0, It also runs in DX10/DX9 mode as well and will give your GPU (s) a run for their money. I downloaded and ran it in DX10 default mode (everything on high) and witnessed temperatures that my 3x 4850's have not seen before, even after the likes of an hour of crysis. If you decide to download it and have a go, you will understand why. Its an intensive and impressive looking 23 part benchmark that will move your VGA to tears with impressive depth of field, shading, and volumetrics effects, it also extracts every last polygon your graphics card can muster
Unigine 'Heaven' can be had here http://unigine.com/download/#heaven

Hi all For several months I have been trying to diagnose a problem that occurs on my Viewsonic VX monitor connected to a BFG GTX I had been running a BFG card with no problems at all but wanted something faster on this aging system Asus P AD -E Premium and got a good deal on the It worked great with the drivers included on the install CD That driver was dated When I installed the later driver I started to see video noise lines running up and down both sides of the screen when in the max resolution of x HZ The noise would become more intense trouble VX2000 and NVidia Viewsonic drivers as the monitor warmed up but would reach a point where it would not get any worse but the monitor would flicker occasionally as though it were receiving a signal out of its range When I reduced the resolution to x or x the noise was not present I got tired of trying to fix the issue so I rolled back the driver to the older one But every time I found a new driver on Nvidia s web site I would try it in hopes that the Viewsonic VX2000 and NVidia drivers trouble issue might be fixed It was not So I resigned to using the older driver Upgrading the driver really had no effect on any of my games anyway so upgrading the driver was really just a geek kind of thing that I like to do So everything was fine in XP land But this morning I installed Windows Ultimate on the same machine I created a dual boot so I can always go back to XP as needed When Win installed it would not use the older Nvidia driver so it installed the latest one Guess what I ve got the problem back I cannot avoid using the new driver anymore unless I want to stick with XP but that s not what I want to do I tried several things The only thing that solved the issue for Windows was removing the card and re-installing the old When I did that the problem was gone I could run in Windows at the highest resolution x without the noise But doing this was not a workable option because what would be the point of having upgraded to the card if I wasn t going to use it I was going to and may still do so take my box over to my brother s house where he has a nice flat screen monitor that is better than my Viewsonic I would confirm that while the card was plugged into his monitor I did not get the noise at any resolution But that won t happen until sometime this weekend and it s EDT here in New Jersey and I want to fix this problem right now I just wanted to confirm that the video card was not the culprit I hadn t been suspecting this since there was no problem with the older driver and because of the fact that I could get a few minutes of clear screen if I switched off the monitor for a few minutes Yet I was grasping so I called BFG support by phone I waited about minutes and got a live person to discuss my problem with While talking to the guy at BFG and he put me on hold twice to ask another technician the questions I was asking I was getting very technical asking about waveforms and timing I had a thought that the driver update could have caused the waveforms to change so the monitor would not be able to handle it But he came back on the line and assured me that the driver was not affecting the waveforms While I was waiting on hold the second time I was playing around with different resolutions I found one x HZ that worked with no noise at all This pretty much gave me the answer I have been looking for since April The problem is the lousy Viewsonic VX It s specs say that it will display resolutions up to x but it will do so only at Hz I don t know exactly why upgrading the video drivers with or without upgrading the OS caused the problem to appear and i don t expect I will ever know enough about how the hardware works with Windows and its drivers but I have learned something about this whole episode Don t buy another Viewsonic monitor I should have known I was going to have trouble with this monitor right from day one When I first put this system together I had purchased an ATI card The monitor would ... Trying to install latest catalyst suite V 9.9 and I get as far as "ATI Parental Control & Encoder" and it seems to hang. Task manager says it is still running but it has been this way for over 1.5 hours. I have already canceled once and tried to install again. I recall in previous updates this would take some time like 5-10 minutes but never this long. I have searched AMD's web site and the INTERNET and find no similar reports. Video card is ATI HD4850 operating system is XP-PRO with SP3.

A:Catalyst install problem

First, go into Add/Remove Programs (or Programs in Vista) and ensure that Catalyst is removed and any other video programs that may conflict with it are removed. Then try installing Catalyst again.

Repost with results.

HP DV6000 notebook,
has a nvidia go 7200 vid card

was having issues with secondary monitor, so went to reinstall the drivers. a bunch of posts suggested using these custom video drivers from http://www.tweakforce.com and i foolishly figured it couldn't break anything.

Restarted after install to no image and post beeps: one long and 3 short which im assuming is something video related.

I pulled the hd figuring i would just delete the driver files, but even with the hd unplugged i get the same beep which leads me to believe that the driver install somehow altered the bios.

Suggestions? i don't even know a way to reset a notebook bios.

A:PC froze while updating drivers

Which drivers did you update?
Try to 'rollback' the drivers, run Ccleaner, and try to update the drivers again.

First off System Specs:

Asus G60VX Series Notebook
Windows Vista 64-Bit Home Premium (Yes, im sure it is 64 bit)
Nvidia GeForceGTX 260M CUDA 1GB
4GB RAM
RealTek HD Audio

IF you need to any other specs just ask.

PROBLEM:

Basically I bought this computer for gaming and several games Ive bought recently wont run so I figured I would update the graphics driver just to be safe and then go from there. I download the installer for the latest nvidia driver just fine, and when I go to install it says Im not running Vista 64-Bit when I clearly am and closes. And when i try the 32bit installer it says it cant find compatible hardware for the drivers, an also untrue statement.

Help please?

I had a geforce GT in my computer It recently died I took it to a technician to diagnose the problem He ordered a new graphics card for me and installed a quot replacement quot card for the half week interim Now when I say he installed it I mean he put it onto the board and nothing else He didn t have the drivers CD or anything like it He simply said quot I think i have a spare in the back if you want to borrow it for a while quot I said card/drivers Graphics problem quot okay quot It s an ATI Radeon x MB I m having problems getting drivers onto it correctly I tried to go the ATI site but they want me to buy some BS driverrobot software in order to update my drivers So I found and downloaded some replacement display drivers but I keep getting errors upon install I get to the installshield wizard for ATI and choose express intallation It says quot you Graphics card/drivers problem have chosen to install Catalyst Control Center the minimum NET framwork required is Please install before launching application quot I press OK It then continues on for some reason and gives me an error stating quot setup did not find a driver compatible with your hardware and operating system quot I pres OK and it exits intall setup Edit I also don t know if this plays a roll But upon starting up for the first time windows recognized new hardware but when trying to find software for it off of the internet the installation failed Likewise when I ran dxdiag to find what model of ATI card had been installed it didn t display ANY video card in the display section There s also no quot display adapter quot heading in the device manager nbsp

A:Graphics card/drivers problem

First go to Guru 3D and download and install DriverSweeper. Then make sure your nvidia drivers are uninstalled via add remove programs. Then remove any ATI drivers you have installed. Go to device manager double click on display adapters then double click any adapters that show in the drop down menu. Go to the driver tab and click on uninstall. You'll get a warning that you are uninstalling the device from your system. Click on OK and reboot your system. In program files delete any nVidia or ATI folders left from the old installations. Then run driver sweeper to make sure any remnants/orphan files from the old drivers are removed. Your resolution should be really large. don't worry about it. Reboot one more time and install the ATI drivers you have downloaded for the card. If you still get the no compatable driver error try downloading an older driver.
