Cannot connect to wireless router as admin wirelessly

Q: Cannot connect to wireless router as admin wirelessly

Cannot Login to Netgear DG834G router wirelessly from Dell Laptop

Hi heres hoping you can help me.

I have a wireless connection through a Netgear DG834G from a Dell M6300 running Windows XP which is working fine with respect to accessing the internet..

I also have a desktop (wired to the router) which is also running fine.

The problem is that I cannot log into the router wirelessly as Admin on 192.168.0.1
I can login to the router as Admin from the wired PC, but not the laptop !!
I get to the login screen to input password but when pressing enter the login box just re-appears with the password field blank again.
I know the password entered is correct and accurate as it works from the wired desktop

(note: I have changed my laptop recently from HP to Dell, I was able to access the router wirelessly as Admin to perform maintenance with the HP model)

Any ideas ?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Cannot connect to wireless router as admin wirelessly

Are all the settings correct for the wireless laptop.
encryption method WEP, WPA, WPA2
passwords

Does the router even see this new laptop?
Do you still have the older laptop?
Check to see if the DELL firewall is disabled under Windows, make sure it off.
Try opening up a session: ping 192.168.0.1
Does the laptop get IP by DHCP,

ipconfig /release wait.... ipconfig /renew wait... try it again does work then
try static IP then do ipconfig /flushdns and ipconfig /registerdns

If all still doesn't work try..
re-joining the wireless router
disconnect using the wireless in range method on the laptop
reconnect but remove the password then re-do it then click on connect see if the wireless laptop can connect.
If it does reboot the laptop and login with your login ID password
Now open the browser and see if you can get into your router
Make sure you do not have any spyware or popup blocker active..

Recently I bought a TP-Link WR841N router and, unaware of what it needed, there had to be an ethernet cable coming from the main router (BT Homehub 3) for it to work. Is there any way I can connect these two wirelessly? I don't mind whatever way I connect it to my PC.

A:Connect router wirelessly to main router

Why do you need the additional TP-Link router - is the BT hub not a combined N modem/ router ? A bit more detail of your setup would help understand what you're trying to achieve...

Hello, I recently bought an xbox 360 and have been looking for a cheap way to get around buying that $100 adapter. Since my router and xbox are in completely different sections of the house, a wired cable cant be used.

I first tried to connect two routers together wirelessly through a network bridge. Having no experience with that before, i had no clue how to do it, so I had to look it up on the Internet. I read that you had to disable DHCP, and all that, but after buyign a router, the first oruter couldn't recongnize the other, and I'm guessing that the router I bought had no support for bridging.

So, now I turn to switches. I heard from a friend that switchwes are like routers, but made to be easy for these kind of situtatioins.

I'm just asking will a switch be able to wirelessly connect to my router?

A:Cannot connect wirelessly to router

Try turning off the ipv6 in network settings.
Goto your network settings/connections, right-click on the wireless connection, goto properties.
Inside there should be a check box for ipv6
I've noticed ipv6 can destabilise some routers and it's not really needed for small networks currently.

I have two units for rent. Thus, I need a total of three separate networks so we don't accidentally share files. The two units, a duplex, and the main residence is about 20 meters away. I'm thinking of putting a router in each unit and have them connected wirelessly to the router in the main residence. I think they can connect to the main router in bridge mode but can them have their own network (I mean one has an ip address of something like 100.50.10.x, the other 120.60.20.x)? here's my problem - I can't connect via wifi to my router, but can connect to the internet with an ethernet cable.

However, my other computer connects via wifi without problems. I've gone through my troubleshooting and the wifi light is on, so that's not the issue. I also updated my driver (says it's working fine) and even tried to uninstall and reinstall it. I am not sure what else to do.

If I try to connect via wifi though, the computer recognizes all the available networks, including my own, but just won't connect. It says a cable is unplugged (which at that time it is, because it's supposed to connect wirelessly).

I have a HP Pavilion dv6-3147sb Entertainment notebook, and it uses Windows 7

OK, so basically I have no idea what I am doing. My desktop (that I am currently on) connects fine to the router but I can't get my laptop to wirelessly connect to the router.. it finds it and sometimes it says that it is connected but the connection is broken and can't be repaired. The wireless on the laptop itself says it is also loggen in. I really don't know what to do..

Laptop is an Acer Aspire One Windows XP model number ZG5
Router is Linksis by Cisco model number WRT120N

It is Encrypted WPA2
I do have firewalls

I am just really confused..
It did connect for like 10 seconds and then nothing.

I don't know what else to put..
Sorry if this isn't enough info.

A:Laptop does not connect to router wirelessly.

Did this PC ever connect to your wireless?

Can you connect with encryption disabled? Do you have the latest driver for your wireless adapter (from Acer's web site if an integrated adapter)? Does the adapter support WPA2?

Hi guys, I'm a total idiot when it comes to computers so please feel free to make fun :

I just got a TL- WR740N router and somehow managed to configure it using my girlfriends Acer Aspire One Happy netbook.
The internet works fine when the netbook is connected to the router via cable but it can't connect wirelessly to the network I have created. At first some massege appeared saying that there are 2 identical IP's and there is a conflict or something like that. Now it just stops trying to connect to the network. I can connect with my own laptop tho.

A:Cannot wirelessly connect with laptop to the router I have just set up

can we see an ipconfig /all from the working wireless connected laptop and then one from the non working laptop
------------------------------------------------------------------------
ipconfig /all

If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post the results in a reply here.
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and paste here.

If you do not have another PC - do you have a phone connected to the internet - can you photograph the result and post the image in a reply
Note: you will see entries named Tunnel adapter Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface: we dont need to see that information - JUST the infomation above those entries

We would like to see the results from an ipconfig /all - post back the results in a reply here.

For Windows 8
To open a Cmd Prompt or an Administrator Cmd prompt from the Desktop. Use Win + X and choose Command Prompt or Command Prompt (Admin) from the list.
For windows version, XP, Vista, W7
Hold the Windows key and press R

Now type CMD

Now press Enter to open a command prompt box (A new dialogue box - black with white font, will appear on screen ):
In the command prompt window that opens, type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

ipconfig /all > network.txt & network.txt
It will export the results into notepad and then automatically open the notepad and display on your screen.

Now all you need to do is copy and paste those results into a reply here
to do that:
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Select all
all the text will now be highlighted
Next
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Copy

Now go back to the forum - goto the reply and then right click in the reply box and paste the results.
The results from the notepad should now appear in the forum reply.

I've just purchased a Netgear N150 usb wireless adapter to use with my DGN1000 wireless ADSL2+ modem router,
I can access the router's web-based interface wirelessly and wireless networks are visible from the Control Panels Manage Wireless Networks but I can't connect to the internet even though my wired connection works, I have no SP installed on my x64 bit OS.

My ISP's technical support couldn't help, the problem doesn't appear to be the signal strength or the wireless network mode which I have configured as 802.11g or 802.11b, do I need to tweak my routers wireless settings in some way or this is an OS issue?

I have set up my Linksys WRT150N router using the setup disk. I am able to access the internet (comcast ISP) through the wired ports of the router, but am unable to access the internet wirelessly. On the laptop which I used the install disk, the router is not detected wirelessly. On other laptops in the household, the network password is not recognized (WPA-personal) as correct. I've gone to the router setup website and used the same password to access the site. I've set the network mode to mixed, and the channels to auto. I don't know what else to do. Help

A:Unable to connect wirelessly to WRT150n Router

On the Laptop which can't see the Router, check the Wireless is on - I've been caught a few times! - generally a little switch on the front or sides, or one of the Function keys. Also, some older Laptops don't have the "newer channels on them, you could try making your Router broadcast at Ch9 or something.

As for the WPA being wrong, hook up by Ethernet, log in to the Router and try changing it to a WEP key thats easy to type in - ie 0123456789 -, saving & rebooting Router, and then entering that when prompted on your other machines. If that works, change it again to something more secure.

My laptop only connects wirelessly if it's in the same room (actually, at the same desk) as the router. I just installed a new router and that did not solve the problem. I took the laptop to a pc repair shop and it connected wirelessly there withouto a problem; I also took it to Best Buy and was able to connect wirelessly there as well). So, problem solvers figured it was the router (which was quite old). I've now replaced the router but still can't connect wirelessly unless I'm in the same room as the router!

A:Laptop won't connect wirelessly unless it's in the same room as router

In the same room, and again close by but where you have trouble ...

Please attach a screen shot of the Networks page (don't collapse the Radar, Connection or Signal History) of the Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector. If you need help with that see TSG Posting a Screenshot. FWIW to take screen shots with Windows 7 or Vista I prefer to use the built-in Snipping Tool.

Also show for when you are connected ...

Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:
(For Vista or 7 type CMD in the Search box after Start)

Type the following command:

IPCONFIG /ALL

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.

Let's make sure that all necessary tasks are running:

Check your Services are Started on all PCs:
• COM+ Event System (for WZC issues)
• Computer Browser (computer browser will start when needed)
• DHCP Client
• DNS Client
• Network Connections
• Network Location Awareness
• Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
• Server
• TCP/IP Netbios helper
• Wireless Zero Configuration (XP wireless configurations)
• WLAN AutoConfig (Vista wireless configurations)
• Workstation

Note: You can check the services in Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services.

All of these services should be started, and their startup type should be automatic
If a service is not running, open it's properties and check the dependencies. Check each of the dependencies and see which one is preventing the service from running. Checking the event log is also a good idea here, there may be clues to what is failing.

Hello,

I have had this router for a few years and I have just moved it to the right place in the house, namely connected to the main phone socket... The desktop connected to the router via an ethernet cable is doing fine... Before I moved the router, my 2 wireless laptops were connecting fine as well... since I did this, they first showed limited connectivity, so I set the IP addresses up manually... they are now connecting to the network/router wirelessly, but I cannot connect to the internet; when I try to open Mozilla or Explorer, I get the message "server not found"... I tried everything, restarted the router, rebooted my laptops, but no luck... My operating system is Windows XP family on the desktop and Professional SP2 on the laptops ... any ideas would be welcome...
Thank you...
Solveig

By "connecting" do you mean simply broadcasting on the same channel, or do you mean actually communicating with the router (confirmed by ping or accessing the configuration pages)?

Windows 7 HP Compaq 615, Belkin N+ Router, Freecom 500gb NTFS HDD

I am trying to make a wireless connection to my external hard drive which is attached via USB to my Belkin N+ router. I use the router as the default gateway to the internet and have used the ping command to check I can send to and receive from the router. So far my laptop is not recognising the hdd even though my son on a Mac has had no problem in connecting to it. All offers of help gratefully received.

A:Connect wirelessly to router connected Hard drive

I own a Belkin N+ and have a WD 320 HDD attached to it. On the Belkin CD is a software package called Belkin Storage Manager which must be loaded on any PC wishing to gain access to the drive attached to the router, it lists the drive as Z:On Belkin N+ unless you give it a name then it will be Z:the name you gave it on Belkin N+. The reason your son's MAC see's it is the MAC finds everything attached to the IP and it essentially is attached to your router's IP table.

Hi there It s my first time on this forum so would be delighted if anyone could help me PLEASE can router Vaio not Netgear to connect wirelessly Sony I have just bought a brand new Sony Vaio laptop VPCEH I have tried to connect wirelessly to my Netgear router DG G The router and broadband is supplied by Sky The laptop is running Windows The router is sending a wireless sending fine to our desktop and two smartphones but the Vaio is unable to connect The Vaio finds the signal which is says is excellent but does not connect Using an ethernet cable the internet connection is fine I have been on the phone to Sky for nearly hours across two nights and they have given up We have Sony Vaio can not connect wirelessly to Netgear router tried setting up a new router password disconnecting and reconnecting establishing a connection in the Network and Sharing Cente using WPA security with no joy I asked them if the router needed a firmware upgrade for Windows and they were adamant that it did not - the firmware version is currently V I have checked the Windows compatibility listings for Sony Vaio can not connect wirelessly to Netgear router Netgear routers but couldn t find the DG G or the DG GT - which I believe is a newer version listed The funny thing is that when Sky did help me to create a wireless connection in the sharing centre is did work for around seconds where I was able to access around webpages The browser then stopped working and the connection was lost with yellow warning triangle across the signal to bottom right of screen I see literally hundreds of people on the internet have had similar problems with the Sony Vaio and windows all seemingly with very technical solutions which are over my head Another thing to note was that Sky originally blamed the fault on a McAfee update I looked into this and deinstalled McAfee and even spoke to them for a while and they confirmed that it had deinstalled and did some other tests and said it was definitely not their software causing the problem If anyone could help me I would be hugely grateful Many thanks in advance Craig nbsp

Is there a connection change I need to change in the laptops to compensate for the fixed IP addy?

I have one wireless router connected to the internet. I would like to use another one to connect to it on a portable piece of equipment. I would like to be able to access the network and internet on the first router from the second router.

How do I configure the second router to wirelessly connect to the first router and allow access to the internet and the other network?

A:Connect two wireless routers together, wirelessly

The second router has to support "range extender" mode (or whatever it may be called by the manufacturer) (most routers don't). You may have better luck with an access point - these dedicated devices usually have more wireless-specific features.

So this is with the pc connected directly to the router via an ethernet cable?
Go to My Network Places, and on the left theres a thing that says "show all UPnP devices" or similar. Click on it, then go to your LAN settings and set your IP address to auto, or 192.168.2.3 vice versa. Plug in/turn your router back on and it should come up as a network place. From that doubleclick it and enter admin etc..

This is the idea, I have DVR for CCTV and I need to configure it for port forwarding, and since it has only LAN connection it is not possible to connect in pocket wifi, so i used to have a wireless router since it has a LAN connection. But I do not know how to do this connection as the wireless router to be a bridge in my pocket wifi to DVR, Anyone know how to do this? Thanks!

A:How to connect pocket wifi to wireless router, to connect the dvr for cctv?

I'm not at all sure I understand. Are you trying to use the wireless router as a Wireless Bridge (to connect to the pocket wifi via wireless and the DVR via ethernet)? If so, does the router have wireless bridge (or AP Client) mode?

My small home network is connected to a Z100G Zone Alarm router via wires. This router has WiFi but I do not use it as it is not wireless N capable. I would like to have wireless N to stream movies to a wireless N BluRay player. I would like to keep the Z100G because of the firewall function.

Can I just connect a new wireless N router to the Z100G? If so, would it then be best to connect all the network computers to the new router either via wired or wireless?

Thanks...

Hi,

I have been racking my brain for ages over this to no avail.

I am a professional designer with a digital press (canon imagePress C1)
What i want to do is connect the printer to a router and then some how connect that router to the main router where the internet comes in Wirelessly.

I cant plug a computer into the printer. The computers are upstairs and the printer is downstairs. There is also no way of connecting the printer to the main router(A)

My general basic idea is connect the printer to a router(B) via small ethernet cable.

Then me being optimistic Router(B) wirelessly sees router(A) so then I can print to it wirelessly from upstairs.

I hope this makes sense?!?!?!?

Thanks
Joe

First I would like to say hello to everyone in the community as this is my first post. I would like to set up Linksys wireless router(wrt160n) with a Dlink wired router(DLR-604),The wireless would be the host router and I would like to isolate the wired router from that network,to protect my main computer's(2computer's plus network printer) from from my children s and friend's machines I connect to the wireless or wired ports on the Linksys. Thanks in advance, any advice or assistance would be greatly appreciated .Cheers

A:Solved: Connect wireless router and wired router

This should be pretty easy. Just connect the D-Link router's WAN port to one of the Linksys router's LAN ports. The computers connected to the D-Link router will be isolated from the Linksys connected computers by the D-Link router's NAT firewall.

Hi there, I'm having a bit of an issue with one of my computers. It's fairly new, running on Windows Vista.

I am able to connect to a wireless router (Belkin), but I am not able to connect to the internet on this one particular computer. Another desktop computer on the network is able to access the internet. I just get the error "Internet Explorer cannot display the page" on the laptop whenever I attempt to open IE.
I've read through quite a few similar problems on other sites, but have yielded no solution. Any suggestions?

A:Uninstalled/Reinstalled Wireless Network Adapter - Can't connect to Wireless Router

Make sure you have the latest wireless driver from your laptop manufacturer's web site.

Delete all wireless profiles. Then try again to connect.

Please attach a screen shot of the Networks page of the Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector and show ...

Hi,

My laptop can't connect to my router, everyone else can but mine just wont connect. It has connected to the internet through the router a couple of times but it will only last for a minute or so and then the connection would be lost.

I have a windows XP laptop, my router is a Netgear Wireless-G Router WGR614 v9, and is connected to a modem.

My wireless card detects the connection but it just can't connect to it. When I tried to set up the router using the provided installation CD, it detected said that the modem wasn't being detected.

I appreciate any help I can get on this!

Hi all,
I just connected with WiMax, problem is I have the wimax wireless router in the house(all good).

But my office is in the garage! I was hoping to run an ethernet cable from WiMax Zylex router to my Belkin Wireless Router.

Is this the way to go about, sharing my internet connection? Also can anyone
give me any pointers on how to go about doing this.

cheers,
LiverKing.

A:Connect WiMax wireless (Zylex) with my Belkin N wireless router

I am no expert but will try to help. If I have understood you correctly, you only require the one router.
If the router in the house is a wireless router and your computer in your office is equipped for Wi-fi you could connect wirelessly. You will need the access code for the router when you try to connect. I think it will be a WEP or a WPA PSK code.
Otherwise run a ethernet cable from your house router to your office and connect it direct to your office computer (not too a second router) This is probably the safest method anyway if you do not need wireless.
You will then need to set up a network by going to "Control Panel" and clicking on "Network Setup Wizard" and following the instructions.
Hope that is of some help to you.

Try putting static IP addresses in to your wireless network connection.
By the looks of it it seems your wireless connection cannot get an IP address automatically via DHCP.

I also have a non-wireless Modem that when connected to the wireless router everything works great. But i have to return the non-wireless modem.

I think it might have to do w/some gateway settings on my wireless modem. Any help is appreciated.

A:Can't connect Wireless Modem to Wireless Router

"won't work" means what? Both devices refuse to power on?

What modems are these anyway? Dialup, cable, DSL, some special wireless connection?

Gateway settings on the wireless modem? If that modem cares about gateways and such, then it is a router device and you should connect it to one of the LAN ports of your wireless router. Disable the router's DHCP server and make sure you don't have any IP address conflicts.

Hi all.

I have a wireless laptop. And a computer in the dining room.

My computer is currently connecting to the internet through the cable modem which is in the kitchen, and there is a white bt box on the wall where the wire runs from cable modem.

So my boyfriend give me his Peak wireless router, which I want to use so that my laptop can connect wirelessly, but I still want my computer to connect as usual.

I cannot however, connect the BT wire in the kitchen to the router, because it is actually fixed into the cable modem.

How do i do this?

Sorry if it is confusing i will explain more if you dont understand.

Thanks

Okay back again, after I talked to my ISP about the slow speeds, they said they would get it fixed.(http://forums.techguy.org/networking/648221-slow-speeds-wireless-router.html is the topic I had about it)

Now today it was shut off for 2-3 hours, and it came back on, and I notice when I try to connect with my linksys adapter I enter my password for it and it wont connect : (

I hook it up to my computer without the wireless, and it works..All my router settings are the same as before the internet went down...

On other weps around my house, I can connect to those and it will say connected but internet is not found, from the bad password obviously, but mine wont even connect it dont matter if its the right password or not ; (

Hi all,

Am unable to connect to my wireless router through its ip. I am able to connect to the internet however, through wireless - but not being able to connect to the router itself, if I understand correctly, means I can't set a password for the router.

I've tried opening up my browser, putting in an ip address (from various sources; 'command prompt'/DOS; the material that came with the router etc.) - but it can't find it.

FYI: Windows XP, SP3; VAIO VGN-AR25 (built in wifi, so I'm not using the USB stick that was provided with the router - have tried this, but didn't work either)

Any other info that I can provide, let me know

Your assistance appreciated,

Hi,

I have had some problems in the last few days regarding my wireless router. i am using a Sony Vaio VGN-NS30E laptop with a TP-Link Wireless N Adsl2+ modem router. ISP = Utility Warehouse. Network Adapter = Atheros AR928X Wireless Adapter.

I can connect via Ethernet, but as soon as i try and use my wireless it comes up with "unable to connect". I also have a Print server running in the other room to allow me to print wireless. I have had all the wireless connections working up until this week (monday).

Called technical support after losing internet connection repeatedly and internet getting slower. ISP know reckons i should be getting up to 11.5mb's per second download, but connecting is the problem now.

If there is anyone how can help i would be very much grateful.

When I search for a wireless device it picks it up, Then I click Connect, Shortly after I just get a trouble shoot message that doesnt help me at all. I have tried turning of the WEP key and connecting and still get the trouble shoot error message.

I am not sure what to do, I unplugged the ethernet cord out of the computer and into the laptop too connect to the internet and that worked fine. So I am not sure what wrong with the wireless.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Do your other laptops run Windows 7? What router do you have (model number, please)? WEP is a very old encryption system, and it's not recommended at all anymore. If you try using WPA2 with AES you probably will connect.

its not actually OK to connect to his network - he will be breaking the T&Cs of his contract by allowing another premises to use the broadband supplied to him

also its against our rules to assist here

Hi

I have Vista Home Premium with a Fujitsu U810. I can see my D-Link Router, but when i connect, it fails. Windows is unable to identify the problem. The XP machines that I have can connect without any problems.

I have tried with and without security, but the results are the same.

If I connect the LAN cable, it works fine,

Interestingly, the vista Fujitsu can connect to the network in the Westin Hotel!

Any suggestions greatefully received.

Fujitsu are at a loss to explain the problem.

Thanks.

What is the make model and version number of your router?

Are you using 32 or 64 bit version of Win7?

I bought this gembird nsw-r2 802.1b/g 54m wireless router and (my knowledge isn't great) don't know how to connect it. What should I do to connect it? I mean, basic information... not exactly for this router but in generall. How to connect a wireless router? If anyone has the time for answering annoying questions like this, please reply.

Thanks.

A:How to connect/set up a wireless router?

You need to connect an ethernet patch cable between your computer and one of the LAN ports on the router during configuration. Open a web browser and type the IP address for the router which is 192.168.16.1 into the browsers address bar. This should brung up a web based menu.

You will want to setup wireless security using WPA2 AES, and enter a pass key. Also change the default SSID to something else (not so much for security, but so there aren't multiple routers with the same name). Be sure to save the settings. Most other defaults can be left alone.

You will need to setup the wireless adapter on your computer to access the router with whatever SSID you chose, using WPA2 AES and same passkey you entered in the router setup. Disconnect both ends of the ethernet cable and reconnect it from the modem WAN or ethernet port to the router WAN port..

Did it stop working after updating the driver? Sounds like you loaded the wrong driver for the machine.

My linksys wireless router does not want to connect to my hp pavillion dv 6700. I had tried already tried resetting it, and it still hadn't managed to solve the issue. It might be something wrong with the IP address, or other settings. I can connect just fine to a modem. What do I need to do to resolve this and get back running wirelessly?

A:Can't connect with my wireless router

what equipment do you have now - router and a modem, or was the router a combined router/modem

can you post the make and models of the modem / router

what devices do you have available and how connected

need to know the setup a little more to give any further advice accurately

if you have a separate modem can you connect by cable and see if that works ok

it maybe the modem supplied is a router and that would require a different setup to connect your router ?

also do a powercycle when you make any changes
------------------------------------------------------------------------

How to power cycle

“power cycle” process to reboot or reset the modem/router

Switch off all the devices modem, router and computers also unplug their power cables.
Wait at least 1 to 5 minutes,
Plug the power cords back in, but don’t switch them on.
First turn on the modem and then wait for a few minutes for it to settle and all the lights to become stable.
Next switch on the router (if a separate device) and then wait for a few minutes for it to settle and all the lights to become stable.
Now turn on your computer, You should now be able to access the Internet.

my computer wont connect to my router. i have 2 others that do connect. one is windows 7 and the other is vista.

all have avg free AV

I can connect to other networks but not mine. it is currently unsecured until i resolve my problem.

things Ive tried so far:

1. uninstalled drivers and restarted allowing generics to be installed.
2. used networking card from a different acer laptop
3. uninstalled syntec as far as i know. (norton associated i believe)
4. deleting all networks and restoring firewalls to defaults

then i tried safe mode with networking and it did connect. but not upon restart in normal mode

any help would be much appreciated!

Hello, I actually was having the same exact problem as azngamer135. My laptop connects fine to the ethernet connection as well as to any unsecure connection. However, when I put in the key for my secure router connection at home...it says waiting to connect and then just stops. When I was connected through the hardwire...I typed in the IP address and generated new WEP keys adn that still didn't work. Do you think theres any way that I can connect to a secure wireless network? (Also, I noticed that you were asking azngamer if they have a cordless phone and Im pretty sure all of the phones in my house are cordless). Thanks alot!

A:Can't connect to wireless router

Ballin1129 - it would be best to start a new thread - however, try changing the channel you use - best channels are 1 or 6 or 11 - that may stop the cordless phone problem - sounds like a typical secruity problem

whats the answer to the question ?

What firewall / security suite or anti-virus do you currently have on the PC - or you have ever had on the PC in the past - any trial ware - like Norton, kaspersky or Mcafee or any free security suites like zonealarm, AVG , Webroot etc
