A good fit for my motherboard

Q: A good fit for my motherboard

Wondering if someone professional could help me out with my mini dilemma I am having. About to start fresh and buy a mostly new everything. But I keep stopping at the computer case portion. I found a great motherboard but not many a decently priced case that utilizes front usb 3.0 ports.
Will the usb ports still work if the motherboard utilizes 3.0 and the case only has 2.0 available? I'm probably worrying over nothing, but I would greatly appreciate some advice.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

They will work only if you connect the front USB 2.0 to a USB 2.0 header on the motherboard. If the case only has USB 2.0 front connectors, you cannot connect them to USB 3.0 headers on the motherboard because the connectors are different.

I happen to be using this case for one of my PCs: SilverStone. It has two USB 3.0 ports on the front panel.

how can i tell if my motherboard is good or bad? Its a soltek sl-54u5 with an amd 450.......i put in new memory and it wouldnt fire up,put in old memory and nothing happened. Just a blank screen ever since.Any help would be appreciated.

A:motherboard good or bad?

well you could spend lots of money on testing hardware/software or you can remove the board from the case and set it on something flat (not a metal table ) and boot it with ONLY 1 memory stick, video card and processor.

if the powersupply, processor, memory and video card are known good, then that leaves the board.

Hello, Ladies and Gents.

I am looking to upgrade from an Athlon II x4 645/Biostar 785g motherboard to a Sandy Bridge Quad-Core/Z68 Motherboard.

I am a guy that likes to mess with my power settings. I know at exactly what voltages my current Athlon II needs to run at any speed between 3.5 to 2.4 ghz. I just love to screw with the thing. It undervolts to 1.2375v at stock speeds and overclocks as high as 3.317ghz without increasing the stock voltage (1.35v stock). This system has seen more than 2 weeks worth of Prime95 in its life. I mostly game and browse the internet, but do some photoshopping and media converting as well.

I know Sandy Bridge processors can turbo up from stock speeds, but what I want to know is can I control the voltages at which they do so? Is there a motherboard that will let me control turbo state voltage if it is not a common feature? I generally undervolt my PCs, I like to have full control of the vcore.

I really want to buy a Z68 board for a future upgrade to Ivy Bridge and a Radeon 7000 series card. So should I buy one of the cheaper quad-cores (newegg has the i5-2320 for only $175), or go for a 2500k? Will I miss the minor loss in clock speed when gaming or the unlocked multiplier when doing photoshopping?Click to expand...

You like to mess with stuff, so, you should go for Gigabyte / Asus / ASrock mobos because they provide the most tweakable settings!

But, I don't know why you're trying to upgrade man, your current setup looks good enough for your regular computing.

The 2400K is pretty slick according to a couple reviews I've read, I'd go for it instead of other i5s if I can spare the dollar. I think it's pretty much a "black edition" because of the unlocked multiplier, pretty good for what you're trying to accomplish.

Well if your going with ati, then you can save yourself a decent amount of money by getting a nforce 4 ultra, rather than nforce4 sli. Sli would be of no benefit to a person using ati cards. The ultra is basically the same, but without the extra pci-e slot. I'm using a Chaintech vnf4 ultra. It works well for me, but I'm more of a high-middle end guy, not high end. I've seen people overclock a 3000+ to 4100+ on the board model I have. Ultra boards are about $50-100 less than sli. But from what I can guess about you, money isn't really an object like it is to me. (Not an insult, It'd be cool to have tons of money lol).

Windows says Good clear Regardless I m buying an extra hard drive I never want to have a scare like this again nbsp

A:Motherboard say HDD Bad. Windows says Good

No way to override it, and its likely not wrong either. Windows only tests the file structure and checks for bad sectors(if you tell it too), it does not test or monitor the drive for internal failures which is what SMART is designed for.

You should always have AT LEAST two copies of any data that you consider important, and preferable you should keep one copy in a secure location away from your home.

Your WD has a 5 year warranty from WDC - they will replace the drive for you if its found to be faulty. Go to their website to test the drive and apply for warranty. However, first make a backup copy of the data.

im looking to spend 200$ max on the mobo. so any suggestion?

on the side note anyone knows untill when PCI-E 2.0 is gonna be around?

A:What's a good overclocking motherboard?

For overclocking in General, anything w/ an Intel P35 or X48 chipset would be ideal. You would be able to Crossfire and overclock the P5Q-E, it has two PCI-E slots... not sure what speeds they run at when linked; has the P45 chipset. On a side note, nVidia's 680/780i platform is also pretty good for overclocking if you wanted to go that route. EVGA makes some pretty decent boards in that category. For Intel P35 chipsets, Gigabyte makes some really good boards which have a lot of overclocking potential.

If the temperature is climbing there must be a reason. Though a little high it is not drastically so. I would be checking all the fans and clean them. Get a can of compressed air to blow the dust of of the fans. Also check the vent slots and holes in the case.

I asked on Yahoo Answers and someone suggested a Ga-78LMT. It's cheap, that's all I can really say about it. Is it good? I notice it says "2x DDR3 1333(OC)/1066/800 MHz memory modules" does that mean that it will not accept memory faster than 1333mhz?

A:What is a good motherboard for an AMD Phenom II X6 1100T?

OK, I think I've actually managed to get everything sorted. This is what I plan on getting:

MSI 760GM-P23 (FX) AMD 760G (Socket AM3+) Motherboard

G.Skill RipjawsX 8GB DDR3 PC3-10666 1333mhz Single Module

Then I plan on sticking them in this case: Zalman Z9 Plus Black Tower Case - Black (No PSU) - With Fan Controller

Are they all compatible? From what I can tell they are but what do I know.

The fastest you can get for that is a Barton 3200+, and you probably can't get that up to 2.8, but at 2.2 it should be plenty fast.

Last time my motherboard sang it was bad news. I used the HP diagnostic tests and it showed up nothing wrong. The only thing new is that sometimes icons disappear from the taskbar. I go into taskbar, uncheck something and check it, save it and all's well. But there must be a bug. The only new thing was to download Brink's shortcuts to the power profiles but Brink's stuff's always good stuff. I had a new video card put in about 6 months ago with a new power supply to go with it and my mechanic guy seems to know what he's doing. How much time do I have? What's the best course of action? I try not to overreact with computers. Thanks in advance.

A:My motherboard is singing: this can't be a good thing

Hello pxfragonard,

When you say singing, what exactly does it sound like? A whining, squealing, or whistling type noise?

Does this happen all the time, or only after your system gets hot?

You might open up the case and see if you may be able to determine exactly where it's coming from. Some possible sources would be any fans, video card fan, or HDD's.

Hey guys,
I was looking for a motherboard with pc3200 ram capability and a socket 478 for a p4 celeron. I was looking on newegg and saw a ton of great value boards but i need something with an AGP/PCI lock and other features so I can overclock the processor. Can anyone help me out finding a good overclocking board?
Thanks,
Jonathan
Oh yeah, I need 533Mhz or better fsb.... Thanks

A:socket 478 good overclocking motherboard

The things you need are agp/pci lock, adjustable fsb, and adjustable memory dividers. The best way to find if a board has these is to find a board that you like(one that's a good candidate), then dl the manual and look at the bios section. If it has the settings, it should work. I was in a similar situation, but more limited, as I needed a matx(as opposed to atx) board that could oc, which is much harder to find. I settled on a gigabyte 8IG1000MK, it only lacks vcore adjustment, which limits how far I can go a little bit, but still, my 1.8p4 was at 2.5ghz stable, a good oc for stock voltage.

Hi,

I'm building a new system, and looking for a decent motherboard for it. I have my eyes on Gigabyte P35-DS3R as it seems pretty popular, but it's also a 2007 product.

So, shall I go with it or is there a newer, better product for my use?

I put my computer under heavy use (tasks running in the background, multi-tasking, web development and some graphic design), but I rarely play any serious games on it.
Appreciate your help

A:Solved: Looking for a good motherboard for my new system

You could look for a P45 board if you want something a little newer. It's only been out a few months. Some of them cost about the same as a P35 MB.

I just installed a Foxconn P45A-S MB in my system and think its great.

PS: From reviews there's not much difference in performance or features between the two chipsets.

There are a lot of options you can choose but to narrow it down you may consider a Gigabyte GA-F2A88X-UP4 or an ASRock FM2A88X Extreme6+ as they both support Crossfire and SLI and both has USB 3.0 Headers.

It really depends what you want to use the machine for, if it's games then simply read the reviews and buy the best you can afford, if its more work-based tasks (yes, you can do work on these things too!) then a cheaper one will suffice. As far as the board goes, as long as it's AGP 4x or greater pretty much anything should work just fine.

Hi everyone!

After some time and some money, I decided to bump my Celeron D 335 CPU and get a real AMD CPU.
So I chose the Athlon 64 3000+ Venice CPU. It should be a great boost over my old celeron CPU.
Now I need a motheboard for it. I found this one:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813138264

I donīt mind about the microATX form factor. I donīt have a SINGLE PCI card.
The motherboard has a good chipset and a good integrated video.
Please keep on mind that my budget is limited, because I was planning to get a cedar mill celeron, and then I decided to get an AMD because theyīre better for gaming.

What do you think about this?

Thanks!

PD: I really like AMD now!!

A:Good mid-range to high-end Intel LGA 1155 motherboard suggestions

The best board I've used thus far -a combination of stability, feature set, ease of use and overclock ability would be the Asus P8Z68 Deluxe/Gen 3. It features a PLX bridge chip which allows use of virtually all features concurrently ( the third PCIe x16 @ x4 isn't downgraded to x1 for instance if you use most/all of the SATA 6Gb/USB3.0 ports).
If you don't need a full-size board then the ASUS Maximus IV Gene-Z/GEN3 at around $180 might make some appeal. Both these boards have no facility for video-out (no onboard HDMI, DP, DVI, D-Sub) - not a great concern for most people looking at Z68 boards.

Word of warning: Z77 boards are reportedly due for release on 8th April. While they will offer very little (if anything) over Z68 boards, it will mean that Z68 board prices will take a nosedive. My advice if you need a board right now and want to save some cash, would be to pick up a functional and well regarded cheap board such as the P8Z68-V/G3 (which still a very nice board) and maybe look to replace it with one of the top-end boards which will surely drop in price. It does mean that you would have the hassle of finding a buyer for a board, but on the plus side you may find yourself happy with the P8Z68-V.

You'll notice that all the selections are Asus based products. Asus -at least for Z68, seems to be putting out the best boards overall. Some other vendors are having QC problems. Gigabyte, which are normally my first choice in mobo making, have some infuriating reboot loop issues with some boards that still remains even with the latest BIOS updates.

I am on a very tight budget, and this Msi board caught my attention http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130219

Then I checked the MSI website to get more information on this board
http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=proddesc&maincat_no=1&cat2_no=&cat3_no=&prod_no=1711

This board catches my attention because....

Its New
Its a Micro Atx with the Pci express x1 below the Pci express 2.0
Drmos Really caught my attention because it states that it makes the board energy efficent, offers a lower tempature and a more stable overclocking enviorment

Do you think its a good budget motherboard for a gamer and an overclocker like me??

A:MSI Digital G45M Digital a Good Replacement for an Old Biostar Micro Atx motherboard?

The Gigabyte GA-EP43-DS3L will do the job nicely and help you save money. It is also a more reliable choice compared to the MSI board.

Hello,
I am new to the forum, but not new to computing. I recently started having problems with this Vista Home Premium box not being able to resolve DNS names for only computers on my home network (all others XP boxes or Windows Server 2003). It can ping the IP addresses of the local boxes. It doesn't have a problem connecting to the internet. But this is a big problem when it comes to sharing files within my local network.

I have disabled Windows Firewall and McAfee Firewall and Services to try and diagnose the problem.

I have been googling this for a couple of days looking for ideas, but I have none. I have validated that DNS is running. NETBios over DHCP is enabled. Subnet mask is 255.255.255. DHCP and DNS server IP is correct.

Anything that anyone could point me to try? I am out of ideas.

A:Ping on Workgroup Computer Names Bad / IP Addresses Good / Internet Good

Unless you've got a DNS server running at home, it's rather unlikely that DNS is being used to resolve names of your home computers when pinging by name. Instead, the machine does a broadcast (on the local segment) to the effect of "if you're called XYZ, please get back to me and tell me your IP address".

If that's not working for you, my first inclination would be to suspect firewalls on the other machines - not necessarily on the machine exhibiting symptoms. Try disabling and even uninstalling (3rd-party) firewalls while you're troubleshooting, and also test what happens when all machines are booted to [safe mode + net].

There s a very common problem with computers nowadays and that is that mass-produced factory you're A here Look - PC = a Security Good purchasing Start if Good computer such as Dell and Compaq HP prefer to not only install what they want on your new off-the-shelf computer but they also insist on backing up the operating system to a partition on your hard drive and refuse to give you a physical copy in the instance that you ever need to format and reinstall The backup partition that they create is not invincible and can be easily infected and overwritten during your online adventures which means that you will never A Good Start = Good Security - Look here if you're purchasing a PC get a clean start no matter how many times you format and reinstall Once warranty has expired it s costly to get any help from these factory companies and Microsoft usually won t have anything to do with you insisting that you re using the factories OEM software and therefore have to refer to your PC manufacture for most situations The alternative when buying a new PC is using your local neighborhood mum amp pop shop If you can find a local freindly computer shop that you trust you can pretty much insure yourself that you re going to get A a clean install amp B a hard copy of your operating system on disk Also if you keep up a good relation with mum amp pop you don t ever have to worry about the expiration of a warranty or having to sit through pricey and outsourced calls to tech support because you can always walk back into the mum amp pop shop and speak directly with the man or woman that built your computer A good start will save you from many headaches years down the road Something to consider if you planning on buying a new computer and seriously consider if you re buying your first computer nbsp

Does anybody know of a good music player that has a good Equalizer? IMO, the equalizer sucks for WMP 11, realplayer free, and my sound card.

I like the PowerAMP app for my android, the equalizer has a sick bass. but it's not available on pc.

A:good music player with good Equalizer?

I have no idea what you mean by "good" or "sick", but most players have equalizers.

Media Monkey and I-Tunes, for instance.

Equalizers either lower or raise certain frequency bands--if they don't do that, they are broken. Some may control different bands than others, but they all use the same principles.

Im new to the forums so if im not following forum rules feel free to correct me Ive tried reading a bit and im getting that my black sceen problem is fairly common and that i can have several reasons Now for more details Ive had my computer for years months back i decided to install an gb SSD drive for my system disk and upgrade to win After the upgrade and install I was all smiles as the performance boost from the SSD was all it was cracked up to be and more Then struck after approx weeks as the comp would not wake up after hibernating The mouse cursor was visible but nothing on the screen Restart didnt help and starting in safetymode gave the same result As i actually have good back up in place yey me i didnt bother much about it and went ahead and did a system format and clean install That worked great for no good. Saftymode Restart good. - BSOD no a total of days and it happened again Ive once again reinstalled but as it annoys me to the brink of throwing my comp off the porch id like to find the source of the problem A relevant issue may be that ive had a bit of problems with my cabled network connection since the upgrade Every now and then it loses connection to the cabled network and jumps to the WLAN When i BSOD - Restart no good. Saftymode no good. tell it to repair it works and it says that an IP conflict has been fixed Ive gathered from what ive read in the forums that error dumps and logs are essential Obv i dont have any BSOD - Restart no good. Saftymode no good. due to format Also I guess hardware specs is important Ive ran Belarc advisor and updated my specs as best I can If i need to attach any reports or specs id appreciate guidance on how to Sort of a long post but wanted to provide the background

A:BSOD - Restart no good. Saftymode no good.

ASUSTeK Computer Inc. - Motherboards- ASUS P5Q PRO

You were very specific in your specs thanks for that, I don't see any note of bios updates applied.
Asus has quite a few of them one apparently to address a display initialization issue.
When updating the bios you only need the most recent. Make sure you know how to use the EZ flash feature of the asus board to. It's the best way to flash a bios I know of.

Also are you using the marvell ports or the intel ports to plug in the ssd?

A:What think about advanced system care ... good or not good ...

Well there's many things to address here ... In this moment i use adwcleaner and combofix when it is request, but i dont use a complete suite how ASC.ComboFix is a very powerful reporting and scripting tool that was developped by sUBs, used by members of the malware removal team here on BleepingComputer (and also on other forums). This tool can easily break a Windows installation if poorly and/or wrongly used. It can make the whole system unbootable and also delete everything present on your drives (leaving you with close to no chance of recovery) or damage your Windows installation so badly that you would be forced to reinstall it. Therefore, you should not be using ComboFix unless you are in one of the two situation listed below:You have been trained in an online malware removal forum to use ComboFix;You are using it under the supervision and instructions of a trained malware removal professional on BleepingComputer or another recognized malware removal forum (UNITE forums for example); If you have any questions or concerns about ComboFix, quietman7 wrote a FAQ on it and you'll find all your answers in it.ComboFix usage, Questions, Help? - Look hereAlso be aware that BleepingComputer doesn't provide any advice on how to use ComboFix on your own, due to the nature of the tool and how dangerous it can be when used without supervision or proper training. Hi community, what think about advanced system care? it's a good program or not ...I saw this program installed in many friend's laptop/notebook, and some of them report me, that after they have used this program for clean and tuneup their pc, they have found a problems and malfunction of their systems...I have used it for much time, and i havent found a problem ir malfuncion in my system.Advanced SystemCare is "PC Booster". "PC Booster/Tune Up" programs are part of the worst programs you can install on a system. When it comes to messing up your system (Windows), these are as worst as malware. They are completely worthless and useless to use. The worst is that they'll often take action on your system without you knowing, nor authorizing it, which could lead to your system being altered in a way you don't want it to be or even worst, a "broke" system. Every feature they provide, you can either do it natively under Windows, do it via another standalone executable (which is way easier and safer to use) or they aren't providing something you need. Here's a few examples:Cleaning temporary files: TFC (standalone executable), CCleaner (installed), Cleanmgr.exe (in-built);Managing start-up entries: Autoruns (standalone executable), CCleaner (installed), Task Manager and Registry (in-built);Driver Updater: Not needed, all you need is to go on your manufacturer website so you'll be sure to get the right, official, working drivers for your computer or hardware;Registry Cleaner/Defragger: Completely useless and also dangerous;Disk Defragging: Disk Defrag (in-built), O&O Disk Defrag (installed), Defraggler (installed);Powerful uninstaller: Not needed, only needed when you have to make sure a program is completely uninstalled. Revo Uninstaller have a portable version you can use;"Enhanced" Task Manager: Procexp (standalone executable), Process Hacker (portable or installed);"Active security": Any Antivirus and Antimalware can beat that, easily. These programs aren't made to replace Antivirus or Antimalware products and shouldn't be seen as such;Repair Hard Drive issues: Simple chkdsk /r command under Windows (in-built);Having such program installing on your system will just bloat it down and you have more chances to have issues by using them than without. These products are advertised as a program that can solve all your issues, remove every malware, speed up your computer performance over 100%, etc. The truth is that there's not a single program that can do that. First of all, these programs aren't made to remove virus and malware, leave this in the hands of Antivirus and Antim... Read more

I've been looking for the front panel pin layout on the Dell Dual Xeon Motherboard with Dell P/N: 0WN7Y6 (it is a # zero, W, N, #7, Y, #6).
The front panel connector is 27-pin...28 spots with one pin left blank. The pin layout isn't included in the manual and I'm trying to boot two of these motherboards without the 27-pin connector. I just need to know which pins need to be jumpered in order to test for boot to BIOS.

Hi (a post after a long time)
I've a F90M motherboard (with intel 915G chipset - i gues chipset doesn't have to do anything with front panel connections, but ... ). It came out of Acer 3700GX PC (i think its a bit old ).
Ok, now i'm trying to put it in a standard larger ATX casing. I've fitted it in and everything works fine except the front panel connections. I cannot identify the front panel connections and could only manage to identify the power switch pins on the motherboard.

I've searched over internet and couldn't find a manual of the motherboard (found manual for the PC on www.nodevice.com but it doesn't tell how to connect front panel)

so can you guys please suggest me the connections for front panel LEDs, Audio and USB.

and i really believe that you TSG guys are up to it

Thanks in advance

To get the computer running, I have to remove the case (12 screws) and un-plug the internal battery to 're-set' the electrical fault. After I put it back together, the computer starts normally. This is not very convenient, especially when meeting with new clients.
The problem is that I am being told I am outside the 3-month repair warranty. I think this stinks! It's a known issue and I would like someone at Dell to step up make my expensive computer work normally all of he time.
Yes, I have run every diagnostic known to man and the internet.

A:battery good ac good no power up in dc

i have an old pentium3 NEC notebook..
i also have the similar problem as yours. Then i took it to a technician who told me that it was a motherboard flaw. he said that it neither gives nor takes enough power and voltage from and to the battery. yet the battery showed to be charging as well as being fully charged. my battery still works on other notebooks and gives a 2 hour back up on a netbook modified to use the battery.........

yours maybe the same problem as mine..........
GOD Bless

Hey People! I'm new here... Greets for everyone!

Anyway, I wanna build new system and now I am looking for the best processor to use?

As motherboard I am using Biostar Hi Fi A85W and I wanna put 6 GB DDR3 RAM on it. My graphics card will be my prior GTX 450. what do you guys think? my budget will be 200$

A:Good processor for good price?

Well, the best processor you can get is the A10-6800K which will work perfectly with your budget of $200. I believe the CPU is only about $150.00 at most retailers online.

Hello,
I am trying to learn how to enable and disable certain start-ups and services in msconfig so that I can see if it makes a significant difference in boot up and performance speed on my Lenovo, running Vista Home. Is there an analyzer software that can look at my start-up and services and tell me if its good or bad to enable/disable, or what it actually does? Or do I have to google each individual item to find out what each one does?

Thanks,
cway1

A:Good/Not Good msconfig options

First, be sure to only use msconfig as a diagnostic utility - do not use it to make permanent changes. Second, be careful when making changes to services. Third, if you have a specific issue you might just want to tell us what it is and maybe we can help.

But to answer your question, here are a couple of sites:
