Preferred Solution: Good processor for good price?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Good processor for good price?

Well, the best processor you can get is the A10-6800K which will work perfectly with your budget of $200. I believe the CPU is only about $150.00 at most retailers online.

I am building a budget computer for someone and need a beige case that is well built. I have used the slk1600 from antec in the past but that is hard to come by. Is there a model out there that is the same price point as the slk1600? Around 50 -55 delivered? Also the same quality build? I really like antec. I can't find it for under 65 now except one place and they only have two and others had it but can't get it any more. HELP>

What are people's opinions on what CPU is good for the price? I was think of upgrading to a Barton 2500+ since this has been the deal since I can remember. Its still a deal yes?

A:Good CPU for the price

Barton 2500+ is definitely the best lower end CPU you can get. Newegg has them for $86 ($91 for retail)

If at all costs, I would like to suggest going retail. You get 2 versions of the same OS.

I am thinking of selling my current machine to a relative and building my own. My relative just wants a half-decent PC as the one he has is very poor, but i'm not sure how much to ask for my machine.

These are the specs for my machine :-

AMD Athlon 798MHz CPU
384MB SDRAM
Toshiba DVD-ROM/CD-RW
NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 Model 64/Model 64 Pro (built into motherboard)
56k Modem
Windows ME

If anyone has any knowledge of buying/selling second-hand PC's and has any advice, let me know

G.Skill, 8 GB kit (4x2GB), PC2 6400, DDR2 800 MHz.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231151

For the $175 price tag, is that good RAM? I've heard rave reviews about G.Skill, but only from a few people that don't really know much about computers, and I've never used it. I looked at that and the old saying came to mind "You get what you pay for", but I've seen better prices on newegg, they never fail to deliver.

So, coming from people who have probably used this RAM before, would I be crazy to get this, or crazy NOT to get it? I have 4 GB (4x1GB) now of DDR2 5300, 667 MHz, but moving up to 8 GB would help with gaming and all sorts of other stuff. And before anyone asks, yes, I have Vista Ultimate x64, so I can handle 8 Gigs.

Comments?

A:Is this good RAM for the price?

You could buy two 4GB kits of cas 4 memory, which is faster, for a little less money.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231148

I've been pleased with the g.skill ram I've bought. I haven't had any problems with it (knock on wood).

Edit: I'm using this ram, and am happy with it so far. If you don't want/need ddr2 1000, then the 800 kits will be better as they have lower latency.

A:is this a good system for the price

Does it come with any software? Keyboard/mouse? Speakers?

I am tempted to say that no, this is not a good deal. It's not a BAD deal really, but certainly nothing special. At least it has a good monitor (or so it seems).

This system above has three big negatives against it:

1. It has a sempron CPU. Semprons are designed for budget level systems. Practically speaking, this means they are in general, slow. Now, if all you ever do is browse the internet, and write word documents, you will have no complaints I suppose. You system will boot a bit slower than a system with say, an Athlon64 CPU, and will "unzip" files slower, etc.

2. It is a 754 socket system. These types of systems are already one generation behind, and will be 2 generations by the end of this year. In other words, it severely limits your upgrade options.

3. It's graphics. Onboard graphics can be fine for some users. Again, if you are only browsing the internet etc., then you'll have no complaints. However it is important to keep your upgrade options open for future considerations. For example, windows will be releasing "vista" soon. This will require more powerful graphics. Or if you ever decide you want to try some PC games, you will need stronger graphics. The system above has an open AGP slot so you can add on a graphics card later. This again is limiting your upgrade options. There are some very powerful AGP cards on the market still, but this is slowly changing. AGP is the old generation, and are slowly being replaced by PCIexpress graphics cards.

Hope this helps!

depends what you intend it for, modern gaming will be a no no. older games and movies will be ok. or just to speed up day to day things, normally hogging RAM

A:Is this a good price for this computer?

I don't think so, but it should run COD4 in med/Hi details in 1024x768 just fine.

1 - Both tthe included "420watt" and 500watt PSUs (I don't think anyone actually gets those 420s) are junk brand. Antec, Coolermaster, Thermaltake make some decent low-end 500watt units for $50 or so. Best ones are $80~110 : Corsair, Seasonic, PC Power & Cooling, OCZ.

2 - Rather OLD OLD motherboard. Limited to AM2 CPUs. Being that its a budget system, its a bit expensive board - in which 1% of users actually upgrade to 2 cards.

3 - when listing items, please remove "NONE" items are they don't apply.

4 - PMPO speakers? Sound like $10 speakers. A good set of $40 20watt speakers from a better company will sound a lot better. Get this for $50, these look great, sound great.. and about the best on the market for the price: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16836113016 (PS some people complain, but many speakers BUZ when the cell phone is getting a call - also, Subwoofers belong on THE FLOOR)

But here are some choices for under $50 (note these REAL speakers are 6~30 watts - and a quick google search says those 600watt in your list ARE $10) http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2010370060 4025&bop=And&Order=RATING

3 - a company that sells junk cases, junky PSUs and junky speakers are not to be trusted. "Major brand powered by Nvidia"?? pretty much any maker of video cards are KNOWN.

4 - Below is my QUICK LIST of budget home/Gaming system a person could order/build from www.newegg.com

$416 = TOAL : BASE UNIT

Note: The mobo has onboard graphics with DVI and VGA output, recommened for Vista office and basic home usage. Will play games made before 2005 okay.

$100 = Vista Home Prem. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116485 Or Windows XP PRO ($135) (Media Center gone, XP is no longer manufatures - limited avail) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116400

$100 = GPU: ATI 3870 card : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125086

Total = $616~645.

You can get parts in 2-3 days, build it in 1-3hours.
Has a better case, better PSU, better motherboard, better DVD and faster GPU.

In a previous post (can't link due to anti spam feature) I was deciding on getting a new PC but since then I've come to the conclusion that the best performance for my PC would simply be a new graphics chip set since the processor and mobo are still up to standards and probably don't need to be touched for awhile longer, so I decided to budget for a $300-$400 (may be more) card(s) and would like some opinions on what would be a good buy, I'm looking to run games like Mass Effect, UT3, Supreme Commander, Oblivion, Spore, Crysis etc. and any new gen games coming soon that utilize the Physx and DX10 technology. Currently I'm looking to upgrade my dual Geforce 7950GTs and put them into a second more economical PC for home use.

A:Good Vid Card for the Right Price?

Because its not always up to the GPU to provide all the game performance, but also depends on other components, such as the CPU, it would be best for us to know your other specs first.

Just in case because you might be better off with a CPU upgrade as well.

I'm out of the loop as far as GPU's are concerned (Current: Gigabyte 670 Windforce 3x) but am considering an upgrade. I was kinda sold on a 970, but have since been made aware of the 390 & have been told (by many) that for the price, there isn't anything better at the moment.

Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Cheapest place to pick one up?

A:R9 390.. good card for the price?

Hi George,

The R9 390 is a strong card, and for the money it's probably the best high-tier card on the market right now.

At $330, it's a little cheaper than the GTX 970 which is also a powerful card for the money, but I've witnessed a couple of people having trouble with GTA V on highest settings with it, while the R9 390 runs it just fine.

If that matters to you, you'll definitely like the AMD card more.

Hello, I have been on a long journey to try to make my computer good enough to be World of Warcraft worthy. I was trying to upgrade my parents' Dell Dimension but was having no luck (First, it is almost non-upgradable in the first place thanks to Dell, and second, we had a $100 Dell Giftcard that I was using to upgrade our computer which we got a month ago and we placed the order and it still hasn't been confirmed). Now i am just really mad so I'm gonna try and buy a totally new computer (I wanted one for my room anyways). So, to the point. I was wondering if anyone could reccomend a decent gaming computer with plenty of upgrades available, the only catch is that it can't be over $1000 and if possible $700 or less would be awesome!
Thanks in advance,
Tenko

Hi muckmail.
It is always best to build your own.it really is not difficult,I recommend you read the sticky by crjdriver above. As we do not know what country you live in we can not recommend a custom builder for you.But what I would suggest is that you give the operating system a lot of thought,as to what you are going to do with your new PC,If gaming is your thing it may be better to stick with XP for the next 12months,But you will need to check out vista before you buy it.
All the best

Hello,

I've Been looking in getting a new headset for my PC and I'm not good at figuring out any sound devices really. Are there any good headsets for about $100 or less? I'm not looking for anything fancy just something that's good and wont c**p out after a couple of months. My top two priorities are sound quality (the louder the better) and good comfort for long usage.

I've look at ones such as the Thermaltake Shock Spin HD or SteelSeries 4H. But I'm stuck, I don't really know the difference (beside the fact that they look different).

Any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks!

This is great backup software!!!! I bought this version a couple of years ago BUT the latest version is 10 and 11 is on the horizon. Still though, version 9 does a great job for me and I have restored my PC over and over with an image of my hard drive; an image that was made at THAT time. I bought it for $30 with a $20 matching coupon and I hardly think this will ever be cheaper; not in a BOX delivered to your front door. Postage is probably an extra $5. Your call. (I have bought from this vendor before---no problems.) Some may think it is pirated software but I would not know!! And I doubt there would be support from Acronis for it!!

When I first started building my own rigs decades ago I used Computer Shopper magazine to help find the best prices. Then, with the advent of the Internet I moved to PriceWatch.com. That site fell in popularity and functionality and I, like most everyone else, moved to PriceGrabber. Now I don't find PriceGrabber all that useful. Are there any good price comparison sites still around or does most everyone do like I have been and buy from Newegg and Amazon?

Thanks.

A:Are there any good price comparison sites still around out there?

PC Part Picker is a good one it can see what parts cost at a given time, and has a pretty good device database. Here's a link to my system as an example. Intel Core i7-4770K, MSI GeForce GTX 780 (2-Way SLI), NZXT Switch 810 (White) - System Build - PCPartPicker this is what I have put into it but if you click the merchant tab it will show you what those parts cost per merchant currently. There is also if you know the part number google shopper can detect this stuff.

I only really know of verizon, sprint, and atnt. I'm guessing there's a few others, but I was wondering which works the best. I am also hoping to not spend over 35/40 a month. Not quite sure of what you are asking is this something you are doing for someone else because in this forum really isn't the place to ask about recompense for helping someone out.

I personally will do things for nothing except charge for parts of course (if those parts are reasonably pricy) and I have to incur a cost of new part/s and I just like the challenge of doing whatever is being asked for.

I recently had my headphones short out in one ear and need new ones but I don't know what ones to get cause I don't want to keep having the same problem. So recommendations would be nice. I just want good sound quality with a mic on it. Preferably something like the ones I had (see link) but I heard those always short out after a year or two so I don't really want to deal with the problem in the future.

$50 is as high as I'd like to go, I don't know if that too low to find good quality headsets though.

Circuit City has 40 GB Harddrive for $29. I rely on http://www.dealsofamerica.com for bargain recommendation. They usually mark hot deal if its around $0.50 per GB.
Is there any good rule of thumb as to what is cheap and what is not ?
Another question I have is wheather I should by external or internal Hard drive ? External is expensive but has its own advantages...
For now I am looking for cheaper hard drive around $20-$30 and I can get enough disk space to watch movies.

A:What is good price for Hard Drive (40GB for $29 ?)

HDs being cheap as they are, you should look for something like a 120GB disk with 8MB cache, rather than a puny 40GB. You get more value for your buck with them.

Hello Everyone. I am new on this forum.

I just opened up a tech shop in Dominica and I am planning to take on some cases for HDD data recovery. At my previous job we used PC3000 and DeepSpar DDI3 and DDI4. However these are incredibly expensive for my operation. Each one is over 3500 USD :-0.

Software, no matter how well it?s built can?t do recovery right because of PC limitations itself. Does anyone know if there is a hardware solution (Data Recovery Imager of some sort) that doesn?t require to sell a kidney and one of my kids? Any experience that you had in the past?

I would really appreciate your help

Since it says that it is a mobile processor, I assume that is for a laptop. I have never used a Turion, but I have seen a lot of laptops with it, and the specs aren't bad, so I would guess that it is as good as any...unless you decide to go the Intel route. But, since I don't have recent experience with Intel, I don't know what their laptop processors are like.

You're not going to get hyperthreading on a amd64 cpu, although an amd x2 cpu(dual core), will be better than hyperthreading. You mainly need ht or dual core for serious multitasking.

You can build a very good pc with your budget. A basic gaming rig will cost about $800-1000(tower only).

Hi people, i am in the market for a new processor and i just wanted to know what are some good one made by intel. I have heard of the i7's and i5's but i'm wondering which kind i should get. The main purpose I want to buy a new processor is b/c of gaming mostly and some video rendering. The current processor i have now is a intel Pentum D 2.8GHz, and its a about a six year old PC. I have upgraded the ram and GPU thats a 06 model. So is it worth it to upgrade or buy a new PC and will i have to get a new motherboard if I upgrade my CPU.

A:Whats a good processor to get(intel)

Yes you would also have to buy a new motherboard to upgrade to a more modern CPU since yours is so old. You can do some research by going to the Intel site and researching new motherboard socket types and processors and be sure to match the socket type to the processor you are interested in. You would also have to upgrade ram and quite possibly the video card depending on what type of games you want to play.

You can either buy a new computer or build your own which will get you more hardware for the money and you may be able to use your old case, DVD player, power supply but prior research is the key.

First: select a budget for your build/new computer.
Second: select hardware, and features that you want ensuring hardware compatibility
Third: ensure power supply is powerful enough to run all your modern hardware, Newer higher end cards require a 500 W+ power supply. Most store bought computers also contain a low rated cheap power supply.

Fourth: Keep posting as you choose hardware/features of your own build or pre-built computer so other members can advise on whether items/computer chosen match your needs, are a good deal and most of all compatible.

A:Good Video Encoding Processor

The Phenom II X4 940 is the best choice IMO.

And yes, I think AM2\AM2+ coolers will work on an AM3 CPU. Not sure, but since the slots are physically identical (aside from having a different number of pins), any AM2 cooler should work.

A:cyrix mII 333 processor no good 4 games

Hi jimmy_doll

I have also heard that the cyrix prossor is not good for games. It is supposed to run good for business applications. If you want better games you could upgrade your prosessor to an Intel or AMD. Check your board specs In the seup guide to see what is the highest speed processor the motherboard can support. You can probably get a used processor very cheaply for your system.

Will a AMD FX-8350 Eight-Core do well for streaming games/music with a lot more programs such as skype and such in the back ground with xsplit? sorry for the vague question, my computer keeps giving me the blue screen.

A:Is will a top end AMD processor be good enough to stream games in HD?

To me it sounds fine, i have a high end AMD processor too. I played some LoL and SC2 on xsplit. The computer could handle it just fine. But remember that having a good graphics card is also important when you are streaming.
But it should take most of the CPU, so cooling is a very important factor.
You should read up on efficiency on streaming aswell. Sharing the cores etc. for a better performance.
Hope this helps

Thats a question that only you can answer for yourself. If you are still happy with it then it is still good enough for your use.

Personally for Intel CPU's any quad core is still plenty of power for an average user. I might shake my finger at a LGA775 dual core but not a quad.

I'm new to building. I'm looking at a processor but havent quite learned how to pair it with a motherboard. I understand that Intel processors have to go with Intel compatible Mobos and that graphics cards have to be supported by the mobo etc but I still dont understand fsb and ports etc.

Im looking at an Intel core i7 2600K processor.
3.4 GHz quad core.
max memory 32 GB
with a LGA 1155 socket.
it supports DDR3-1066/1333 memory
it doesnt show any fsb but instead says its replaced fsb with whats called DMI 2.0. Any tips on a solid motherboard to go with this.

Additional info:
Im also looking to plug TWO GeForce graphics cards into my mobo.
Also im planning 24GB of ram.
SATA hard drive and dvd rom drive.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

A:What are a few good choices of mobos to go with my processor?

Probably the best place to start would be for you to give us some information on your budget for the build and what the primary use of the system will be. There are a wide range of motherboard choices for the the i72600K which would be influenced by the factors already mentioned, same applies for a SLI configuration. Also, is there a particular reason you want to go with 24MB of memory?

Hi

Here are two processors with integrated graphics. Which is better?
AMD Athlon 5350 APU
Intel Celeron G1840

I have the 5350 and it's graphics performance is great. It's like a full-featured GPU!
But! I'm thinking to get this Intel one for an other computer . Do you think ir's graphics are as good as the AMD? Or is Intel's graphics still as bad as it was before?

A:Which processor (with good integrated graphics) would you recommend?

depending on what you use the graphics for, you may be better of just getting a cpu that doesnt have integrated graphics, and then get and actual gpu, which will actually provide better performance than integrated

My Processor is it good for gaming cause im wondering if i shud buy a new one cause when i play CSS ( Counter Strike: Source) its kinda laggy well its more laggy than not laggy at all. Plus the graphics ar pretty bad, but im able to see everything ( not clearly ). So Im wondering if my processor ( AMD Sempron 3100+) is good for it or i shud get a new one and shud i get a new graphics card (SiS 760)? My RAM is 512MB maybe i shud get 2GB RAM or 1GB????any suggestions?

A:AMD Sempron 3100+ Processor(1.81 Ghz), Good for gaming or Bad?

It looks like from your post that you are using on board graphics. This would be one cause of the lagginess. Your processor may also be slowing things down. Since it is a Semperon, you would be limited to getting another socket 754 processor. The Athlon 64 is still available in socket 754, but this socket only supports single channel memory, unlike the socket 939 which supports dual channel memory.

So, to help you with a video card, what does your Motherboard support: AGP or PCI-e graphics cards? If you don't know for sure then tell us your motherboard make and model and we can help suggest an appropriate video card.

Here is a possible processor upgrade: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103483

I need both. A video card good enough to handle most new computer games. (like grand theft auto 4 and sims 3 for example)
And a processor to speed up this slow piece of junk. It's a compaq pererio (from 2002 I think) and the other computer that needs the video card is an e-machine. (from 2006 I think) I do not have the model numbers right now. But I was hoping to replace the emachine card so I can play games, and use the one it has now for the compaq. Then also buy a processor for the compaq.

But what will this cost, about? In US dollars.

I have a AMD Quad-core processor A6-3400M and a graphics card that is AMD Radeon HD 6520G with 512 MB. Is my computer good enough for the hd hauppauge? If so should I get the regular or the gaming edition? so if i can run the roxio game capture could i run either of these?
the specs needed for the regular are.....
Processor Requirements (minimum): Dual core CPU 2.0GHz or faster
Windows 7 (32 and 64-bit), Windows Vista or Windows XP service pack 2 (32-bit)
Graphics with 256MB memory (or greater)
Sound card
CD-ROM drive for installing the HD PVR software

A:Is my processor and graphics card good enough for the regular hd hauppauge?

According to your specs and their recommended specs you should be fine as long as your OS is one of their recommended ones. As far as regular or gaming edtiton - gzrabbed from another site -

Differences between the HD PVR model 1212 and the HD PVR Gaming EditionThere are two versions of HD PVR: the HD PVR model 1212 and the HD PVR Gaming Edition. Here are the differences:
•HD PVR 1212 includes a IR blaster cable to control your cable or satellite set top box channel changing. HD PVR Gaming Edition has a Component Video cable for easy connection to an Xbox 360 or PS3.
•Both HD PVR and HD PVR Gaming Edition have our "no delay pass through" for recording live TV or video
•HD PVR model 1212 contains Arcsoft Total Media Extreme plus Arcsoft Media Convert. Media Convert allows you to change the format of your recordings so you can view them on a iPad or other portable media player. HD PVR Gaming Edition contains Arcsoft ShowBiz with capture and upload to YouTube. A media converter is not included in the HD PVR Gaming Edition.
•HD PVR uses a blue record ring to indicate that recording is taking place. The HD PVR Gaming Edition uses a green record ring."""
Thats all the real differences!

IMHO I would go with the regular and not the gaming because of the lack of video converter and the fact I don't use component video for anything these days but your situation that may be a + for you.

This probably is a stupid question If I was doing a clean install of Win Pro with SP and on the reboot right before the quot setup is preparing your computer for first use quot display when the machine restarted the screen was black for some hours and I had to do a hard reboot and when it came back up the quot windows did not shut down properly quot message displayed and I started Windows normally and checked the system logs to find Log Name System Source Microsoft-Windows-WHEA-Logger Date PM Event ID Task Category None Level Error Keywords User LOCAL SERVICE Computer computer Description A fatal hardware error has occurred Reported by component Processor Core error on not install Processor Core probably good is fatal hardware Error Source Machine Check Exception Error Type Unknown Error Processor ID and even though it seemed to be acting normal this is one error you probably dont want to see at installation time and I should probably consider the whole installation as not to be trusted and should reformat and reinstall no I'd rather do that then having it choke after it does all the updates and I install all the applications etc

A:Processor Core fatal hardware error on install is probably not good

Does the installation complete when you start it up now?

If not reboot into DVD, delete all partitions using Drive Options as shown in Step 7 of Clean Install Windows 7, create new as you wish to format for reinstall.

Do you have an overheating problem that could have shut down the processor? I'd run Core Temp in the system tray to monitor it for awhile. YOu may need to blow out dust or repaste the processor.

I currently use the Microsoft Works Calendar as a PDA keeping track of appointments, birthdays, etc. but find that I can't print out reports according to categories. Hello,
I am new to the forum, but not new to computing. I recently started having problems with this Vista Home Premium box not being able to resolve DNS names for only computers on my home network (all others XP boxes or Windows Server 2003). It can ping the IP addresses of the local boxes. It doesn't have a problem connecting to the internet. But this is a big problem when it comes to sharing files within my local network.

I have disabled Windows Firewall and McAfee Firewall and Services to try and diagnose the problem.

I have been googling this for a couple of days looking for ideas, but I have none. I have validated that DNS is running. NETBios over DHCP is enabled. Subnet mask is 255.255.255. DHCP and DNS server IP is correct.

Anything that anyone could point me to try? I am out of ideas.

A:Ping on Workgroup Computer Names Bad / IP Addresses Good / Internet Good

Unless you've got a DNS server running at home, it's rather unlikely that DNS is being used to resolve names of your home computers when pinging by name. Instead, the machine does a broadcast (on the local segment) to the effect of "if you're called XYZ, please get back to me and tell me your IP address".

If that's not working for you, my first inclination would be to suspect firewalls on the other machines - not necessarily on the machine exhibiting symptoms. Try disabling and even uninstalling (3rd-party) firewalls while you're troubleshooting, and also test what happens when all machines are booted to [safe mode + net].

Does anybody know of a good music player that has a good Equalizer? IMO, the equalizer sucks for WMP 11, realplayer free, and my sound card.

I like the PowerAMP app for my android, the equalizer has a sick bass. but it's not available on pc.

A:good music player with good Equalizer?

I have no idea what you mean by "good" or "sick", but most players have equalizers.

Media Monkey and I-Tunes, for instance.

Equalizers either lower or raise certain frequency bands--if they don't do that, they are broken. Some may control different bands than others, but they all use the same principles.

A:What think about advanced system care ... good or not good ...

Well there's many things to address here ... In this moment i use adwcleaner and combofix when it is request, but i dont use a complete suite how ASC.ComboFix is a very powerful reporting and scripting tool that was developped by sUBs, used by members of the malware removal team here on BleepingComputer (and also on other forums). This tool can easily break a Windows installation if poorly and/or wrongly used. It can make the whole system unbootable and also delete everything present on your drives (leaving you with close to no chance of recovery) or damage your Windows installation so badly that you would be forced to reinstall it. Therefore, you should not be using ComboFix unless you are in one of the two situation listed below:You have been trained in an online malware removal forum to use ComboFix;You are using it under the supervision and instructions of a trained malware removal professional on BleepingComputer or another recognized malware removal forum (UNITE forums for example); If you have any questions or concerns about ComboFix, quietman7 wrote a FAQ on it and you'll find all your answers in it.ComboFix usage, Questions, Help? - Look hereAlso be aware that BleepingComputer doesn't provide any advice on how to use ComboFix on your own, due to the nature of the tool and how dangerous it can be when used without supervision or proper training. Hi community, what think about advanced system care? it's a good program or not ...I saw this program installed in many friend's laptop/notebook, and some of them report me, that after they have used this program for clean and tuneup their pc, they have found a problems and malfunction of their systems...I have used it for much time, and i havent found a problem ir malfuncion in my system.Advanced SystemCare is "PC Booster". "PC Booster/Tune Up" programs are part of the worst programs you can install on a system. When it comes to messing up your system (Windows), these are as worst as malware. They are completely worthless and useless to use. The worst is that they'll often take action on your system without you knowing, nor authorizing it, which could lead to your system being altered in a way you don't want it to be or even worst, a "broke" system. Every feature they provide, you can either do it natively under Windows, do it via another standalone executable (which is way easier and safer to use) or they aren't providing something you need. Here's a few examples:Cleaning temporary files: TFC (standalone executable), CCleaner (installed), Cleanmgr.exe (in-built);Managing start-up entries: Autoruns (standalone executable), CCleaner (installed), Task Manager and Registry (in-built);Driver Updater: Not needed, all you need is to go on your manufacturer website so you'll be sure to get the right, official, working drivers for your computer or hardware;Registry Cleaner/Defragger: Completely useless and also dangerous;Disk Defragging: Disk Defrag (in-built), O&O Disk Defrag (installed), Defraggler (installed);Powerful uninstaller: Not needed, only needed when you have to make sure a program is completely uninstalled. Revo Uninstaller have a portable version you can use;"Enhanced" Task Manager: Procexp (standalone executable), Process Hacker (portable or installed);"Active security": Any Antivirus and Antimalware can beat that, easily. These programs aren't made to replace Antivirus or Antimalware products and shouldn't be seen as such;Repair Hard Drive issues: Simple chkdsk /r command under Windows (in-built);Having such program installing on your system will just bloat it down and you have more chances to have issues by using them than without. These products are advertised as a program that can solve all your issues, remove every malware, speed up your computer performance over 100%, etc. The truth is that there's not a single program that can do that. First of all, these programs aren't made to remove virus and malware, leave this in the hands of Antivirus and Antim... Read more

Hi I am really unsure if this is the right section or not but I really need to know if this is a good laptop Good Comp? Deal/Good (Laptop) and I am getting my moneys worth Again if this is the wrong section PLEASE move BTW This is a laptop I might be purchasing the following for LMK wut u think Dell Inspiron Laptop Pentium Processor GHZ Upgraded Liquid Crystal Display with ultra high resolution options GB Kingston RAM upgradable to GB MB ATI Radeon Mobility Video Card GB Harddrive DVD-RW So we're looking at basically gig ram GHZ The whole comp itself is basically upgraded to all ends The Good Deal/Good Comp? (Laptop) screen does look really nice as it is a liquid display The RAM is very high for a laptop and the processor beats the doors off most of the previous comps which I have had GHZ I am getting a laptop Good Deal/Good Comp? (Laptop) because I travel mostly I also game alot I know the video card isnt best for high end games but I play a game called Diablo mostly which requires next to nothing altho I will replace the video card soon How much would it Good Deal/Good Comp? (Laptop) cost to upgrade to a decent one do u think So I think its a pretty fast system good deal

There s a very common problem with computers nowadays and that is that mass-produced factory you're A here Look - PC = a Security Good purchasing Start if Good computer such as Dell and Compaq HP prefer to not only install what they want on your new off-the-shelf computer but they also insist on backing up the operating system to a partition on your hard drive and refuse to give you a physical copy in the instance that you ever need to format and reinstall The backup partition that they create is not invincible and can be easily infected and overwritten during your online adventures which means that you will never A Good Start = Good Security - Look here if you're purchasing a PC get a clean start no matter how many times you format and reinstall Once warranty has expired it s costly to get any help from these factory companies and Microsoft usually won t have anything to do with you insisting that you re using the factories OEM software and therefore have to refer to your PC manufacture for most situations The alternative when buying a new PC is using your local neighborhood mum amp pop shop If you can find a local freindly computer shop that you trust you can pretty much insure yourself that you re going to get A a clean install amp B a hard copy of your operating system on disk Also if you keep up a good relation with mum amp pop you don t ever have to worry about the expiration of a warranty or having to sit through pricey and outsourced calls to tech support because you can always walk back into the mum amp pop shop and speak directly with the man or woman that built your computer A good start will save you from many headaches years down the road Something to consider if you planning on buying a new computer and seriously consider if you re buying your first computer nbsp

Im new to the forums so if im not following forum rules feel free to correct me Ive tried reading a bit and im getting that my black sceen problem is fairly common and that i can have several reasons Now for more details Ive had my computer for years months back i decided to install an gb SSD drive for my system disk and upgrade to win After the upgrade and install I was all smiles as the performance boost from the SSD was all it was cracked up to be and more Then struck after approx weeks as the comp would not wake up after hibernating The mouse cursor was visible but nothing on the screen Restart didnt help and starting in safetymode gave the same result As i actually have good back up in place yey me i didnt bother much about it and went ahead and did a system format and clean install That worked great for no good. Saftymode Restart good. - BSOD no a total of days and it happened again Ive once again reinstalled but as it annoys me to the brink of throwing my comp off the porch id like to find the source of the problem A relevant issue may be that ive had a bit of problems with my cabled network connection since the upgrade Every now and then it loses connection to the cabled network and jumps to the WLAN When i BSOD - Restart no good. Saftymode no good. tell it to repair it works and it says that an IP conflict has been fixed Ive gathered from what ive read in the forums that error dumps and logs are essential Obv i dont have any BSOD - Restart no good. Saftymode no good. due to format Also I guess hardware specs is important Ive ran Belarc advisor and updated my specs as best I can If i need to attach any reports or specs id appreciate guidance on how to Sort of a long post but wanted to provide the background

A:BSOD - Restart no good. Saftymode no good.

ASUSTeK Computer Inc. - Motherboards- ASUS P5Q PRO

You were very specific in your specs thanks for that, I don't see any note of bios updates applied.
Asus has quite a few of them one apparently to address a display initialization issue.
When updating the bios you only need the most recent. Make sure you know how to use the EZ flash feature of the asus board to. It's the best way to flash a bios I know of.

Also are you using the marvell ports or the intel ports to plug in the ssd?

Hello,
I am trying to learn how to enable and disable certain start-ups and services in msconfig so that I can see if it makes a significant difference in boot up and performance speed on my Lenovo, running Vista Home. Is there an analyzer software that can look at my start-up and services and tell me if its good or bad to enable/disable, or what it actually does? Or do I have to google each individual item to find out what each one does?

Thanks,
cway1

A:Good/Not Good msconfig options

First, be sure to only use msconfig as a diagnostic utility - do not use it to make permanent changes. Second, be careful when making changes to services. Third, if you have a specific issue you might just want to tell us what it is and maybe we can help.

But to answer your question, here are a couple of sites:

A:battery good ac good no power up in dc

i have an old pentium3 NEC notebook..
i also have the similar problem as yours. Then i took it to a technician who told me that it was a motherboard flaw. he said that it neither gives nor takes enough power and voltage from and to the battery. yet the battery showed to be charging as well as being fully charged. my battery still works on other notebooks and gives a 2 hour back up on a netbook modified to use the battery.........

yours maybe the same problem as mine..........
GOD Bless
