I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello, I have a problem with any Realtek driver since I updated from Windows 8.1 to 10 (x64).
On every boot, I have no sound on the rear speakers : the black pin switches automaticaly to "side". I have to reconfigure the black pin to rear every time !

Did someone had a similar issue ?

Here's my config if it helps : Asus Sabertooth Mark 2 and Logitech Z906 5.1 speakers.

I have had a speaker arrangement on my Vista x PC for 5.1 working not Left speaker Front configuration speaker in correctly some time Today the front left speaker decided to stop working correctly When trying to Front Left speaker not working correctly in 5.1 speaker configuration plug my headphones in to a rear jack on my motherboard onboard sound I noticed that sound was only coming through the right earphone I decided to give up with trying to listen through my headphones for the time being and plugged my speakers back in only to find that now my front left speaker wasn't working correctly I tried to adjust the balance on my speakers as I thought I could hear a whisper of a sound through the front left The front left speaker is producing sound but at a greatly reduced volume to the rest of the speakers I have to set the balance to the following to make FL and FR speakers 'the same' volume by ear FL volume FR volume I have my speakers plugged in to jacks on my motherboard out of The green jack for FL and FR The black jack for RL and RR The orange jack for C and SubW I have been unsucessful installing Realtek which is a shame because on my last motherboard I was able to solve the problem with that somehow but I can't remember how as it states the drivers are not supported Which I'm assuming means my motherboard doesn't support it My motherboard is an MSI Intel p Neo I have had this setup working fine for around a month My speakers are labtec but I don't see how that would matter I am currently using the normal drivers that come with Vista Any ideas Regards Graham

I try playing music with right channel sound and i can hear it very faintly if i turn it up. I was wondering if maybe its a common problem and an easy solution , i somehow doubt it though. Anyways thatnks for all input. Also ive downloaded all its latest drivers.

A:Realtek AC97, sound from one speaker only

Don't laugh now..

Did you plug the cables in properly? Do it again. Are you sure you haven't set the balance all the way to the left? Check it again.

Swap the cables around and see if you lose the sound from the left speaker now.

Hi. I'm using XP - but am not familiar with the sound system at all. My young son enjoys messing around with the AC97 Audio Configuration - which he accesses from the 'Sound Effect' icon on the toolbar. On his own computer (also using XP) the default playback device is Realtek AC97 Audio but he doesn't have an icon to access the audio configuration window. I'm assuming it's on his computer somewhere and I just don't know how to access it and create an icon. If anyone could tell me how to do so I'd be very grateful.... sorry if this is a duncey question - my son is autistic and very persistent when he wants something! Thanks!

A:AC97 Audio Configuration

Its usually only available if the implementation of the drivers for the particular chipset include it in the drivers.
At this location one PC has it as the chipset specific drivers include it, the other two do not as its not part of their drivers.

The AC97 is the audio "codec", it's implementation may differ (as will the functions offerred) according to the motherboard makers specific drivers.

A:AC97 Audio Configuration trouble

Check out this thread for a similar problem with ac97 audio drivers. Drivers worked in a fresh install of XP, but there was no audio when re-installed in a working copy of XP. This situation involved differing flavors of the ac97 audio drivers. The method used tracked down all the software programs listed in the device driver list for the audio.

When I plug a computer microphone into the mike jack of my new Acer T135 computer, two programs pop up - one called Jack-Sense, which tells me I have mistakenly plugged a speaker into my mic jack, and the other is AC97 Audio Configuration, which tells me the same thing.

And the mike won't work. I've tried the Sound Recording program that comes with XP, and also Adobe Audition, and I can't record with the mike.

What can I do?

Thanks!

Also a guide to the buttons on the AVRack recording screens would be good.

I'm not 100% sure where to post this, but here seems like a sensible spot. Feel free to move it if I've plumped for the wrong forum

I'm hoping this will be a quick answer for someone.

I'm trying to set up my Creative 5.1 surround on my pc. I set it up a while back, and at the time I found an option that allowed me to use the Audyssey microphone that came with my Onkyo home theatre receiver to set the levels for the individual speakers and subwoofer so that Windows 7 adjusted them all for my seating position relative to the speakers in the room.

I can't for the life of me find where that option is now and I have looked everywhere. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks

Hello,
I'm having trouble with my speaker configuration. I have a Realtek AC97 Audio Codec (ALC850), 5.1 Sound. The sound comes out fine for all the speakers (Front and Rear) except for the Centre/ Subwoofer. I can only configure the speakers to the point where sound will work for all speakers except the centre speaker, or all speakers except the subwoofer; never the centre and the subwoofer at the same time. (Actually, I can get the centre speaker to play its normal sounds, and the sounds of the subwoofer, but the latter is very quiet, almost impossible to hear- I'm not sure if this is significant.) I'm also not sure what informaton you require to help me with this problem, or whether I've already told you enough, so I will be happy to tell you whatever you need to know.
Thanks for your time,

I was having the exact same trouble. Was driving me mad.

Download the beta drivers from www.realtek.com.tw. Then, the actual 'speaker configuration' bit is hidden - right click the realtek icon by the clock (lower right), audio devices, configuration tab, speaker configuration.

Whenever I plug in my Sansa e260, my speaker configuration settings switch from stereo to headphones. This wouldn't be a problem, except for the fact that in headphone output, all bass is zeroed out and treble is maximized. The change happens more or less instantly.
I'm on windows 7 x64, and my soundcard is a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE SB0570LPVP with the v1.04.0090 drivers.

A:speaker configuration changes when I plug in an mp3 player

I have an Audigy SE sound card installed in a Vista 32 bit system and there is no problems with using headphones with it. The EQ (Bass/Treble) does not change using headphones.

Do you have the latest Windows 7 64 bit Creative drivers? If not install them and see what happens. If not you may want to reinstall what you have and see what happens.

Do you have the correct front panel connection to the Audigy SE?

Finally, how do you connect your Sansa E260? Is it connected via USB? and if it is, it is probably setting itself as the default playback device.

I'm having a problem with my audio on my computer. I have a d925xecv2 motherboard with integrated realtek HD audio 5.1. I'm not using my 5.1 sound and am only using stereo. When I go into Speaker Setup in windows 7, this is what it looks like:

As you can see, there are no speaker setup configuration options. There isn't "setero" or "5.1" or anything... How do I force Windows 7 to use Stereo Speakers?

I've uninstalled my realtek drivers and let windows 7 install the drivers, yet I still get no options for audio channels. There is also only the green jack plugged into the computer.

If I use the realtek audio drivers, when I go into those settings and try to set it to stereo, when I quit and open it backup, it automatically sets it to 8CH.

Thank you for any help.

This is just a quick tutorial so you can get the most out of a 2.1 speaker configuration, I was helping a member out on a different forum since he was asking if there was a Realtek HD Audio Manager option for 2.1 speakers and I thought this tutorial might be helpful if you guys want your 2.1 speaker setups to sound better. From doing this tutorial the bass coming from your sub wont have a bunch of static when you're blasting your speakers and from doing this everything will sound more clear when you're playing music at a low or high volume. Just open up Realtek HD Audio Manager and copy these settings from the screen shots I took on my computer.

A:Speaker mode (unable to change to Headphones)

You have to generally use the front panel connections to get that identification.

Since you are plugging it into the back panel the system basically assumes it's speakers. It can't actually tell the difference based on the plug... it's not a usb device that communicates with the system. So all the system has to go on is where it's being plugged in.

Does your system have front panel audio hook ups?

What do you have that you need 24 bit 192Khz audio for ? There is nothing that approaches that.

I have attached a file to show the current configuration of my hard drive. Historically, I purchased the computer with Vista OS and then added the Windows 7 and Windows 10 partitions later as as these OSs became available. Using the MiniTool Partition Wizard I change the Windows 10 partition to 'Active' but when I rebooted my computer it would not boot - the error message was "BOOTMGR is missing, Press Ctrl-Alt-Del to restart". A:0662 Configuration Change Error

I work on several of these. Really bad design. Very crowded, no air circulation (heat) and underpowered (poor voltage=hard drive errors, system file corruption, etc...)
I assume you've tried this procedure:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/si...F06-D0212.html

If the settings do not "stick" I would do the following:

Reseat the RAM.
Remove CMOS battery, clear CMOS (test battery while it's out. If it's low, replace it.)
Try disconnecting all peripherals (hard drive and optical drive) and see if the problem changes or stays the same.
If you can't get the symptom to change at all, I'd try reflashing the BIOS as a last resort. The motherboard might be bad. Might be power supply. Those power supplies cost more than the whole box is worth. Is this your machine?

I have 2 settings that we need to turn off in Access 2003 - Autocorrect (under Tools\Autocorrect) the very top selected line needs to be unchecked. Also the macro security level (under Tools\Macros\Security) needs to be set to Low.

While this is only a required configuration for about 5 machines per site it is something we want to ensure is setup on the image before we take the machine to the users.

The problem is both settings seem to be user specific so once we get it out to the users and setup on the domain we then have to reset these settings again AND they are the only ones able to use this program until the other users make the same changes on the machine logged on as themselves.

Is there ANY way to make these changes on these 2 settings apply globally to ANYONE who logs onto these 5 PC's?

I also add this user to Network Configuration operators local Group.
Then the user i unable to change system time.

If i remove user from Network Configuration operators local Group, the user

Is there a possible workaround to have a user with this privilege belonging

I hope I ve chosen the correct category for this issue I have a Dell Inspiron S desktop computer currently running Windows I need to be able to move around my home from room to room with a single speaker not a pair of speakers that provides good volume to overcome other machine noises not extremely loud noises but not a quiet environment either I have tried blue-tooth two different doggles and several blue-tooth remote speakers single-speaker but the volume is not good and the reception is generally bad The distance is not more than feet or so but it is through walls and sometimes up one flight of stairs and my blue-tooth reception has been sporadic at best I haven t tried any speaker quot sets quot because I often move from room to room and multiple Speaker portable, single-speaker... Computer Setup - Remote, speakers are too cumbersome I gave up on blue-tooth and decided to try a wired USB-powered speaker I bought a foot USB extension cord and two different USB-powered speakers which worked fine as far as the reception went of course but the volume was insufficient on both I verified that the volume was up on computer as well as on the speakers themselves I have small BOSE computer speakers positioned at left and Computer Speaker Setup - Remote, portable, single-speaker... right sides of monitor connected to my desktop computer for normal computer activity like movies and playing music and they sound great and I never have to turn the volume up more than about half way I would like to be able to accomplish the same with a portable remote speaker which I would mostly use for listening to games baseball and hockey racing NASCAR and audio books Sometimes I may want to listen to music but I m not looking for BOSE quality sound for this speaker setup Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can accomplish this without spending hundreds of dollars Thank you for your help Kaffrum nbsp

I am running Windows 10 Professional with current up-to-date updates on my Dell Inspiron Laptop.

Several days ago I noticed that plugging in current headset no longer muted the internal speaker. I know that it is not the headset as it works perfectly on another computer.
.
Doing a web search has not resulted in finding the problem, let alone a solution. Further my anti-virus is up-to-date, as are the microphone and speaker drivers.

Pointers in the direction of a solution will be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

A:External Speaker Fails to Mute Internal Speaker

What audio codec does your laptop use?

It will be listed in device manager. The VEN DEV combo will be enough information.

You'll find it in the device properties details tab, specifically, the "Hardware IDs" section.

It will resemble this:

Code:
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0288&SUBSYS_10EC0191&REV_1000
Usually the audio codec chip itself will detect an external speaker is plugged in. Have you checked your audio device's configuration software? It should have a shortcut in the classic control panel.

Hello Expert, I see lots problems same as me but not get right solution. Echo coming to my laption while typing or make noice near laptop, it won't stop until mute my speaker. I have windows 10 64 bit. Please help if we have any solution. ThanksP

A:Echo when speaker unmute. Stop while mute speaker. Please he...

Hi, Some things to check for? You will first want to ensure that this ?echo? effect is not being caused by a third party application. The easiest method would be to test the default Windows sounds, then try configuring the speakers, and if the issue persist to try Safe Mode - to eliminate third party software or services as the cause. Use the default Windows Sounds 1. Click Start, click Control Panel, click Hardware and Sound, and then click Sound.2. In the Sound window click on the Sounds (tab).3. You will see a box with a list of items one being Asterisk.4. Click on Asterisk, or any item in that box, and then click Test.5. You should hear audio coming from your system.6. If the clip was not long enough select another item, and then click Test.7. Determine whether or not the distorted audio is present. Configure the speakers 1. Click Start, click Control Panel, click Hardware and Sound, and then click Sound.2. In the Sound window right-click your Speakers and select Configure Speakers.3. Follow the on-screen setup, and Test the available configurations.4. Indentify whether or not one configuration appears to have less of an ?echo? than others.5. If the issue is resolved by modifying the configuration then you do not need to do anything further. Boot into Safe Mode This is done to determine if possible software that came with the speakers or if third party software may be causing this unexpected behavior. If the issue does not persist in Safe Mode then the cause is most likely a third party application, driver, or service. Regardless please let us know how the troubleshooting works for you, and the results of each step. 1. Restart your computer if it is powered on.2. Tap the F8 key after your computer initially powers on.3. Once you see the Advanced Boot Options menu you can stop tapping.4. Use the up/down arrow keys to highlight your selection.5. Select Safe Mode and press Enter.6. You should see drivers loading, and then Please wait.7. You should then be at the Welcome Screen.8. Logon to your computer using an account with Administrator privileges.

Uninstall anything that you don't need, then let us know if things still show up on that Startup tab that you don't want.

Hi,

I remember deleting something named "Realtek HD blah blah" from the below screen.

http://www.sevenforums.com/attachmen...1&d=1341120073

From then my normal speaker (audio jack) at the back doesn't work. But my USB speaker works.

I tried to reinstall the audio driver from my motherboard CD and nothing happens.

Please help. This is very annoying.

A:Analog Speaker not detected. USB speaker works

If you deleted RealTek, that is a PC sound (Integrated on the motherboard) and most likely why your speakers are not working. You must have a PC sound device, other than a USB connected device, for the speakers to work.

First step is to reinstall the RealTek drivers. Its best to get the driver either from your PC vendor or Motherboard vendor, as applicable and install that as the first step. Then make sure your "speakers" (sound card) is set as the default playback device in the Control Panel/Hardware and Sound/Sound panel.

If the volume is low everything works fine, but once you turn it up using the volume button, the left speaker stops working. This only happens when I use the button, and not when I adjust the system sound.

I tested it with the audio configuration, and I can hear what's supposed to be the left speaker sound coming from the right speaker. Once again this is only if the volume button is turned up high enough, and it works just fine otherwise.

Another strange thing is that everything not only works right when the volume is low enough, but also when it's high enough. So the problem is not that the left speaker can't handle that much sound or something. It's only in the middle where this problem occurs. Does anyone have an idea what's going on?

A:Right speaker thinks he's a left speaker

Hi welcome to the forum.

Have you tried the speakers on another system or another set of speakers on yours. Try reinstalling the driver.

Each user will be assigned access for certain folder or files and certain applications, like internet explorer.
And all usb ports and dvd drive will be blocked. Only the admin will be allow to have full access.

So i need to do something that allow ( managers) to monitor employees activity on the system during working hours.

On one pc is windows xp pro on the other os windows 7 home premium.

Any idea how i can acomplish this task?

I.was thinking of group policy on both computers but on home premium there is not group policy.

Also the users will be using almost all the same programs and files just the with different information.

Thank you in advance.

Read this
But for Windows 7 Home Premium you will not have the
Local Security Policy so you may need to upgrade to Windows 7 Pro for that.

This is easier to control with a server like Windows Server 2003 or 2008.

Is it true that any PCI card is better than any onboard solution? My epox-9npa+ ultra comes with this AC97 Realtek AKA Nvidia Audio onboard solution. A:AC97 vs anything

It's been a while since I use on-board audio, however my experience has always been there is a lot of difference if you want to play games or play music on a good set of PC speakers (anything like Logitech 2.1 speakers or better). Even a standard Audigy should prove way better than on-board... however I would still wait for more users input in this thread before you make up your mind.

A:CD-RW Configuration - from slave to single configuration?

The jumper will fit on the pins, based on what is imprinted or embossed on the drive. It is usually very difficult to see... but if you use a flashlight or other device you can place at different angles, you can see how the jumper choices are stamped into the metal. Most often the center two are Slave, the right is Master, and the left is Cable Select.
I suggest you jumper it as master.
If it is a known brand, you can find a drawing on the website of the optical drive manufacturer.

mgary welcome to the forums.

What you're running into is old hardware with no support for new operating systems. In your case it is the old C-Media audio chip that has no support any more and no driver even available from C-Media.

One thing you can try (short of buying a sound card that does have Windows 7 support) is try the XP driver from here,

ASRock > Products > Motherboard > P4VM800 > Download

and install it in Compatibility mode,

Compatibility Mode

Just make sure to uninstall any previous driver that you have installed before trying the above.

hey.

my (old, 2003 pIII, integrated ac97 sound) pc, when using a sequencer can recieve data(notes or event data) from my midi keyboard (with a slight delay). but the software i got with the keyboard says it cant detect the midi device. i suspect the sequencer isnt detecting what it should either.... lookin around here im wondering if my sound device is midi compatable at all, though the device manager has midi(mpu401) specified. iv enabled the midi and joystick ports in bios. hopefully im missing something obvious. dont ask about the seq software, i still havent settled on what i want (makin sure i can use this pc at all first). any help would be too cool..

thanks.

I can't find where on the Sound Effects you set up for a Sub-Woofer w/ 2 speakers?
Can anybody direct me to this solution, I had it set up that way previously but my computer crashed and I had to re-boot & lost my settings before they were saved, now I can't get back to where I found that setup field? HELP PLZ? OICU812

A:Realtek AC97

I think:

Right click the Task Bar Volume icon - click on Options, Properties and add Sub Woofer to your display.

Click OK.

Right click the Task Bar Volume icon - click Adjust Audio Properties, Audio and under Sound Playback click Advanced and under Speakers select 5.1 surround sound.

You'll only use the 2.1 capability with your speakers.

I have searched all over the net and found a few people have the same problem as I have but I cannot find a fix.

I hav an EPOX 4SGM8I motherboard with a P4 3Gig. It has an onboard AC97 soundcard. The Bios is the latest version. Running XP home SP2.

The sound is enabled in Bios and I have installed th latest AC97 drivers (wdm_a365). All the drivers install fine. However i have no sound. The card is "working properly" in device manager and in the sound manager utility it even detects my jack plug connections so i know that XP is detecting it. All volume controls are full but not a single peep. Anybody got any ideas????

A:AC97 Problems

The driver I'm seeing from their global site (for some reason couldn't get any files from their USA site) is "Realtek_Audio drv_V3[1].61.zip". Have you tried using a set of headphones into the jacks to see if that works? Do you have both front and rear jacks on your machine connected and, if so, are both sets enabled? I had a similiar issue with my Asus board until I finally got it narrowed down to that.....no issues since.

Perhaps you have the incorrect RealTek AC97 driver installed? or that it doesn't like your repeatedly plugging in the speakers.

I have an old computer, and have been downloading drivers lately to try to make it perform better. I found out my motherboard name, and downloaded some drivers from here. Upon restarting my computer, I have no sound. This is the first time I've updated my drivers, so the Realtek Sound Manager program was downloaded. There, I noticed in the "General" tab some specs.

Audio Driver Version: 5.10.0.5700
DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0b
Audio Controller: VIA(3058)
AC97 Codec: N/A

I figure the absence of a codec is why my sound is not working. I am using Win 98SE, by the way.

I am trying to upgrade a windows pc with a Gigabyte GA- ZXE motherboard onboard sound- ac The problem [SOLVED] Audio AC97 is that even though the sound chip is detected by win and the installation of drivers goes fine I have no sound Device Manager shows no problem with the sound but I have no volume control on the task bar and under multimedia playback there is nothing to choose I have also tried to go to sound in control panel and when I highlight a sound the quot play quot does not highlight so you can click on it I have tried removing drivers in safe mode and reinstalling I have tried resetting [SOLVED] AC97 Audio bios to defaults and tried turning [SOLVED] AC97 Audio off and then turning back on sound in bios Nothing seems to work Like I said at the beginning I am upgrading so this is not a fresh load of win But at this point I know from my experience that it is the only way to fix it BTW I also ran a registry cleaner to no avail I have had this same problem before with MSI motherboards and onboard sound --- if I was doing an upgrade I usually couldn t get sound to work but if it was a fresh load sound worked fine A few months ago I talked with MSI tech support and they had no idea how to fix my problem Hasn t anyone had this problem doing an upgrade to one of these boards with pre exsisting win load There has to be a fix I have run into it too many times and there has to be a better answer than format and reload Any help with this matter would greatly be appreciated Thanks nbsp

Uninstall the drivers if they are listed in Add and Remove Programs. Remove/delete the sound card in Device Manager. Reboot, Windows should find and install the drivers. You can then DL and install the latest drivers available.

My Device Manager says that it is installed properly, but no sound is coming.

A:My Realtek AC97 would not work

What is the brand and model of the computer, or the motherboard, or the soundcard.

There is more to RealTex AC'97 than just the driver on many models.

You might get by with Media Player 11, or WinAmp, or ITunes, or Quicktime, or RealPlayer, or ITunes, or others, and you perhaps need one of them to complete this install to make everthing work.

A:AC97 Sound Problems

You have to download the correct sound drivers from Matsonic's website(matsonic.com) and install those. Make sure you uninstall all the old drivers first. Using a different AC'97 driver will give you the trouble youre having. Make sure the driver you download is for XP as well.

the modem has nothing to do with the sound - they're independent.

Hello, I have been struggling with this problem for awhile and can't fix it. My speaker will not play sound.

But, when I open the config. program for it called "Multi-Channel Audio Configuration"... and go to connector sensing (where it shows headphone, line in and microphone connectors)...and hit the start button to test for anything that is connected, i hear the song that is playing in another window.

I have no idea what is wrong.

All i can think of is that another audio driver (i think*) is activated and this one (the right one) only activates when I test.

Any help???

Thanks!!

Driver error, is my guess.
I would totally disable the driver for audio, in Device Manager, then download a new version from another source. AC'97 drivers are all over the place. Otherwise, it is your sound card that is defective.

Check:

Volume in windows volume panel and on the speaker, make sure the speakers are being powered as well.

Also check to see if you have the speaker cable plugged into the green hole on the back of the computer usually there are 3 to 4 sound input output holes use just the green hole for 2 speaker setups.

I dont mind if i could change it to 4 speakers and just use the 2 fornt, centre and Sub, when i Click Test the Centre, Sub and rears play nothing yet the Sub plays when i put music on. i have tried god knows how many combinations and i still cant get them all working. Thanks in advance
Here is my Dxdiag Dump:

A:AC97 RealTek Problem

Did you set windows "sound and audio devices" speaker settings in control panel to 5.1 speakers, too? Also, music off of a CD or MP3s are only recorded in 2 channel. You'll need advanced sound card controls (drivers and software) to mix them any differently. A lot of 5.1 soundards don't have those features. That's one of the reasons I like nVidia's SoundStorm audio; DD encoding on the fly.

I installed this HD Windows XP Pro by repairing via "R" previously used on another old Fujitsu Siemens Scaleo with SoundMAX audio.

However, one soundMAx leftover folder cannot be deleted “access denied” as SoundMAX was not properly uninstalled before setting automatically Realtek AC97. This undeleted folder, I believe, maybe causing the automatically installed Realtek AC97 not to produce any sound despite being properly setup with the latest driver
In Command Prompt the file is visible as <DIR> soundMAX and as Administrator I cannot delete it. Even by running Registry Mechanics of PCTools have still no sound from my speakers.
Thank you for any advice, solution or else.
