Question about my stress test results for GTX 770

Q: Question about my stress test results for GTX 770

I recently built a computer with the asus OCII GTX 770 gpu and ran a quick stress test with msi kombustor. I set the setting to no anti-aliasing and 720p resolution (not full screen) and ran the furry and tessy (gl4) stress test. At about 7 minutes my gpu got up to about 83 degrees C with fan speed at 100 percent. I stopped the test as I still don't know too much about stress testing and how hot I should really let my GPU get. I know the NVidia website says the max this card can take is about 98 C but I was wondering if at 7 minutes, 83 degrees C was normal or if that is too hot even for this stress test. Thank you.

Preferred Solution: Question about my stress test results for GTX 770

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Question about my stress test results for GTX 770

For a stress test, that's pretty normal on an GPU like that, stress testing pushes the GPU to it limits which most of the time is more than games will even push it. As long as your temp stays below the threshold NVidia says (Which in your case is 98) then your fine. I would however, if you want to improve the temp, see if you can improve the airflow around the GPU area, the Asus Cooling system is pulling in air and pushing it down on the GPU which means you have to move the air once its been pushed over the card. I would try adding a fan around the GPU exhausting if your worried.

But honestly, your fine.

I remember about two months ago I was doing stress testing just to test the stability of my computer. Whenever I did a test that tested a lot of RAM, the test would fail within minutes and it would say "Execution Halted.."

Just recently I did an RMA with kingston and they sent me 2 brand new sticks of RAM which I installed. I just now got around to testing again but the test still fails within minutes - I am stumped.

Is it possible my memory controller / motherboard is bad? The RAM is brand new.

Hello,

I'm a bit curious about a discrepancy between results from speedtest.net and what my computer says is my internet speed. I'm not necessarily looking for technical help unless the problem is fixable, just curious about what causes it.

My internet doesn't seem exceedingly slow, but when I open the properties window for my connection, I see around 50 mbps as my internet speed. However, when I run a speed test through my browser, my download speed is around 10 mbps and upload speed is around 5 mbps. Is this normal to have this kind of discrepancy? If so, what causes it?

I'm running Windows 7 on an HP laptop with a Motorola SBG5680 modem/router combo.

Thanks!

I currently have my laptop connected to to a 34" high definition tv set via HDMI it is controlled by a remote keyboard & mouse from a USB infra red dongle. I was wondering, since the graphics and audio are onboard and have to share just 4GB of system memory will this setup be likely to shorten the life of the relevant components particularly as I intend to continue with the present setup? I should add both audio (Realtek) and Intel HD4000 graphics do an incredible job projecting video to a relatively large screen.

A:Stress test.

Hello there gervaise,I wouldn't worry that much, about them "relevant components".They are meant to "operate",work to their full potential,up to the level they are supposed to support.Unless "overclocked",under-maintained or mishandled, they should keep up for at least "ages"!Keep your machine in reasonable temperatures,dust-free,not a thing to fear of...
Pentium 3's are still operational,a 2013 laptop will sure survive a simple projecting task, keep the faith!

What is a good stress test for ram? I have 1gb of pc2-5300 and it is not enough to comfortably multitask in windows 7 and my computer is best matched to pc2-6400. I am going to get 4gb soon and was wondering about a good way to compare the efficiency of my 1gb of ram to the 4gb. What I am looking for is a quantitative measure of improvement other than a guess and the possibility of the placebo effect.

Hey

I was running some tests on my computer to see the Min-Max temperature , so i wanted a good program that stresses HD, Ram, GPU and CPU. Just like ORTHOS ( But orthos only stresses CPU And RAM ).

Oh, and is it possible to Undervolt GPU's? ( I think it is a dumb question, but..).

And if anyone know cooling solutions such as Undervolting, please post together with the program.

A:Stress Test

Hi for the stress tests your best bet is to use 3dmark you can get a trial version from Futuremark

The 3dmark test would put most stresses on the CPU and GPU. However the CPU and GPU should be the only real producers of heat in a system. The Ram should produce only minimal amounts of heat as should the hard drive.

As to the second question about undervolting GPUs yes it is possible. I only know from an Nvida point of view but the both Rivatuner and The Nvidia Bios editor would help and the process is mostly overclocking in reverse. Reducing core voltages and then testing stability, you may need to change settings to lower the performance of the card to accommodate the reduced voltage.

Are you worried about temperatures and if it is the system in your Profile be aware that laptops usually run pretty hot. Are you experiencing graphic errors or shutdowns due to overheating?

Hello,

I wanted some expert opinions on what program would be the best to use in order to test if a CPU is 100% error-free. If there is no way to be 100% sure, then whatever will get me closer to that percentage.

I have been using Prime95, but I am now reading that it's "known" (to who?) to have some issues, therefore a CPU that passes, say, 4 hours of Prime95 torture test, may not be 100% reliable. So which test would be in your opinion the most thorough to test my CPUs (intel x86)? I don't care about it taking a long time (if it's less than 2-3 days).

For each CPU that I test, I run Prime95 for 24 hours. Is there anything more thorough than that? Some people mention SuperPi, but what do you think?

A:Best software to stress-test a CPU

Prime95 is pretty much sufficient... Use OCCT in addition if you want to be 0.05 percentage units more sure about stability.

Basically this is a new system, however it does not come with a modem - the modem is required because they use dial-up. So my customer purchased one of his own, ever since the laptop has been experiancing a 0xA bsod. When the usb jack is not plugged in we still experiance the bsod.
The jack is a Zoom 56K Modem Series 1063 - we installed the 64bit drivers seeing as we have a 64bit OS here.

I debugged the dump files myself and received two process names:
win32k.sys
ntkrnlmp.exe

Specs:
- Windows 7 Pro x64
- This is the original Acer installation of Windows
- OEM

- What is the age of system (hardware)? System was purchased on Feb. 1st 2012
- Age of installation is fresh - barely even a month old

A:Bsod during stress test 0xa

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

If you are overclocking STOP

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

Quote:
* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

Quote:
* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

Trying to run a stress test to see if my 3.5Ghz overclock is stable 100%. Prime95 is not using all 4 cores at 100% or even close, should I take this as a good thing as in my overclock is fine and prime couldnt even crash it or should I be worried.

Not good, you want it at 100%, cos you're looking at stability, try running 2 stress programs, its the same thing.

I have an intel core i7 4770k and I'm not overclocking it at the moment. My idle temps are around 28 degrees Celsius. Is it still necessary to run a program like prime95 and stress test my cpu even though I am not overclocking?

A:Do I need to stress test if I'm not overclocking?

It's not necessary, but you can still check the stability of your system, regardless of whether you are over-clocking. I've heard many times, servers are done so to prepare them for future task. Running the test will allow them to potentially catch any issues before they are brought on-line.

I have recently made myself a computer which I hope will remain a top of the line computer for some time. I purchased all the hardware individually and assembled the machine with some help from some of the IT people I work with. Now my problem is that usually it takes just long enough for warranty and RMA?s to expire before you find a problem with 1 of your RAM DIMMs. So is there a software, Utility, or something out there that will put my newly assembled machine through torture to see if it is up to what it?s supposed to be?

My machine build is listed in my profile.

A:Real PC Stress Test

Nice setup.

Intel Thermal Analysis Tool will max your CPU. You may also want to try something like SuperPi for a pure CPU test. CPUs are rarely faulty, but these softwares will see if you have any cooling issues. SuperPi may also indicate if you have some RAM issues by throwing some errors the longer it runs..

Memtest86 is really what you should do to test your RAM, that is going to take forever to do with the amount of RAM you have, even with a fast setup. So this is definitely something you should start in the evening and check on the next day. The bad thing is you can't use your new setup during this time.

As for graphics, I'm not sure what people use for that. But until someone that knows more about it than me I'd just tell you to run whatever the newest 3dmark is and look for any issues developing over time (like screen tearing, weird colors or artifacts). Its a good idea to have the latest drivers before doing this.

Hello,

does anyone know of or can recommend a stress test application.

reason for asking.
installed new motherboard to desktop computer and it drops out occasionally. see new motherboard - windows 8 resets randomly for details of issue.

I want to run some tests before looking at new purchase of windows 8 OEM.

The issue seems to be when running games (high res) so maybe issue with GPU or processor.

many thanks in advance.

A:stress test application

Hello ascomputers,

I would suspect a possible GPU issue right off the bat because of the gaming issue. With that said, I would start off by downloading GPU-Z and monitoring my idle and gaming temperatures to see in any issue arise in that area:

Just download and run. Right click anywhere on the GPU-Z screen and select "always on top" when running. If you notice a high temp condition, maybe start off with a general cleaning but I would avoid any stress-testing software at this point to avoid permanent damage.

Download TechPowerUp GPU-Z v0.7.3 | techPowerUp

Good luck.

Hi I ve run Prime a few test Stress failure times lately with no problems but last night one of my CPU cores failed after Stress test failure about hours which may explain the occasional BSOD during heavy gaming The advice in stress txt is that unless you re overclocking - which I m not - it s probably an overheating problem I know that s not the case since even after an hour of Metro on high settings the hottest any core has got is C My Zalman cooler works a treat The zip file might help but it doesn t seem to offer any other solutions Even though my CPU never overheats is it normal for one core to run - C higher than the rest It s only like this at start-up and all temps level out after running a while Apparently it s core that failed the stress test which is not the same as the warmer core in the Word file attached Thanks nbsp

Hopefully I'm in the right forum for this question as it pertains to overclocking my CPU. I haven't overclocked it yet as I am still reading up on it and researching before I do anything and understand that the best way to find a stable overclock is to do it a little bit at a time and to run some kind of stress test program to make sure it stays stable or if I need to bump up the voltage.

So after a little bit of looking, I learn there's quite a few of them out there. Some of the ones I come across are Toast, Prime95, Orthos, SuperPI and 3DMark. I don't think 3DMark is the right one because that's more for graphics, right? So which one is the best one? Please keep in mind I am running a Core 2 Duo and would need to stress both cores, of course.

Thanks!

I was considering undervolting and decided to see how hot my CPU would get under load before I undervolted. Two days ago I ran Orthos for a few minutes and watched my CPU get into the mid 90's C. After I terminated the program I noticed that TZ00 in HWMonitor stayed at 105 C for a couple of minutes and then the PC shutdown. The CPU temps returned to normal.

Since then things have been OK but the TZ00 temp is still about 10 degrees higher than the CPU temps. What exactly is the TZ00 sensor and after this episode was permanent damage sustained?

Thanks for any replies.

Hi,

I set the CPU core ratio to CPU1:46 CPU2:46 CPU3:45 CPU:44 (don't know if this is a lot..) and didn't overclock ram or GPU. And the stress test I used is Aida64 and the temps weren't getting higher than ~62. I don't really trust myself with overclocking and want some advice on this. I also have a feeling that my PC was not stable before the overclock because of crashing at some games (it didn't happen many times). I have included the minidumps and a picture of the cooler that I have that should be able to handle overclocking lol. All the drivers and the bios are up to date.

Hi,

I have a problem where a new set of computers randomly blue screen while being used.

These computers are all identical, ordered at the same time, have all shown the same symptoms and are recording the same eventlog events etc. I have already narrowed down the fault to the Intel(R) Matrix Storage Manager driver. So I have downloaded the latest driver to install on these desktops.

But here is the part that makes this frustrating. The fault is intermittent and occurs relatively infrequently but I know there is an issue. I need a definitive way of making the computer fault if it is going to fault.

I have tried using HeavyLoad from Jam software but that didn't bring the fault out on a PC I know has the issue.

Any suggestions? Bearing in mind its the iastor.sys driver causing the issue.
Cheers

After a while of playing 1080p streaming video it sometimes pixelates, smears, multiple images, etc...
That will start in a small area and rapidly spread across the whole screen.

If you stop playing the video and restart, it is ok for a while then happens again. It only happens after a while into various video and not right away.

Okay, so

Lately I've had crazy boot and load times, and what appeared to be disk issues (usage was 100%, read/write was little-to-none). Disabled a few things in services.msc (superfetch and windows search), which fixed the 100% constant usage.

But boot and load are unaffected. and i've also found that in games(Ark) and stress tests (prime95 blend), i can't get ram usage over 5.6/8.

I'm not sure if the problems are related. This is my first foray into 10forums, and my tech knowledge is limited.

This points to a hardware problem. In the majority of these logs, a hardware problem was detected by the CPU and reported to the operating system in the form of an MCE - Machine Check Exception.
The results of that problem are contained in the logs above, and the problem reported was a cache error.
Have you been overclocking the system much?
As most of your crashes are caused by running Prime95 and relate to CPU/cache issues, then it leans
toward CPU/Cache being at fault. First we can run some tests.

Did you check the CPU temps? What were they?
Did you apply new thermal paste when you reassemled your machine? Adequate Airflow?

I also noticed evidence of Registry corruption.

You could run SFC to check the integrity of all Windows 7 system files:
Click on the Start > Type in search cmd
Right click cmd at top and Run as Administrator
Type SFC /scannow at the prompt (note the space between SFC and /scannow)

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html

Also please Run chkdsk /f/r in an elevated command prompt.

A potential power surge crippled my PSU, and so I replaced it. Later discovered that a fan was dead on my GPU and the hard drives were potentially dying. Replaced both of them. I've now reinstalled windows and will have BSODs whenever I am stressing the system. I've checked CrystalDisk, and all seems to be well there. Recently, I also lost the use of my Ethernet port. I'm wondering if more hardware needs to be replaced?

Attached are my crash dumps and PC build.

Hmm, this is really a failing CPU. This could be a bad cooler or a failing CPU. I'd try to replace the cooler and see if that works.

Am having a hard time trying to get my system stable on vista ultimate 64 on xp pro 32 bit it worked great

am getting the bsod when i run orthos prime 95 and occt
VCORE 1.42V
FSB CORE 1.4V
FSB 1616 @3.636Ghz
Memory 2.1V

I added more virtual memory

Initial size (MB) 4393
Maximum size (MB) 6139

and it seems the bsod stopped but orthos and prime 95 will get errors and stop 3 to 4 hours in instead of bsod in 3 min into it

So far gaming on crysis, cod4, assassins creed, guild wars, call of juarez, ut3, star trek armada 2 and command and conquer tibwars and kanes wraith i have not crashed or locked up

only games i lock up on or crash are bf2142 and bfme2

and droped down the fsb from 1616 to 1600 or 400fsb depends on how you look @ it.

but still with overclock and stock i still get errors any ideas why? <!--IBF.ATTACHMENT_214084-->

Hm.. well you should be able to hit 3.6 GHz decently easy.. and with less volts than that. I can hit that with my Quad on those volts. I know all chips are different. but you should be able to hit that..

Have you tried loosening the RAM timings.. have you done anything with ram to Rule the RAM out first? changed Divider or something.

A:Dell xps 9100 System Memory failed stress test

Hello!  Normally if a memory test fails the memory chips are going bad.  What you could do is go into the computer, take out the memory and put it back in.  This is called re-seating the memory.  Make sure you unplug everything including power, hold down the power button for about 10 seconds to make sure there is no power to the motherboard.  Once you re-seat everything run the test again and if it fails you might want to consider getting some new memory chips.

Hello,
I am trying to play Counter Strike : Source with my X800 PCIE card. I run the video stress test in the game and I get an average score of over 100fps. When I join any server, I get fps around 20. I don't understand what could be doing this. I've downloaded the latest Catalyst Control Center and drivers for this card and tried almost every option (at least I think) that I could.
Here are some specs:
WinXP Pro
Catalyst 5.11
AMD64 3000+
X800 PCIE
I'd appreciate any input...
Thank you in advance,

Hi,

I recently ran a scheduled diagnostic test of my PC with the manufacturer's diagnostic software. I received two error messages and the advice to promptly replace my hard drive. The first message was Failed (Error code: WHD20-1VR) and the second was Failed (Error code: WHD16-T57). The apply to Targeted Read test and Smart Short Self Test respectively.

So I ran Chkdsk for the C: drive and received no error messages.

Which is correct and what should I do about it? The error message won't go away on the software.

Thanks for helping.

A:Question: Failed Targeted Read Test and SMART Short Self Test

CHKDSK is a very basic check that mostly checks file system and can be set to scan for bad sectors. The manufacturer's diagnostics actually check the physical drive to make sure its operating within the designed parameters and is more thorough.

You should replace the drive.

Hi,
My PC recently started to freeze so I did a PSU test with a tester & it showed no -5v LED when testing the 24pin connection. I bought a new PSU and had the same problem with the PC. I tested the new PSU and again it showed no light for -5v. What is going on?? Is it coincidence both PSUs failed on -5v or is my set damaging the PSU? The old PSU was an enermax 650x and the new one is a coolermaster 600w. I don't really need the wattage but it was always in case of an upgrade.

Please help!!

thanks

A:PSU test results - what does it mean?

Either your tester's dodgy or you've got a case of really bad luck and two faulty PSUs. If the -5v rail test light isn't on, I can only assume that there's no current going through it. If it's the type of tester I think it is;

Green = in range (close enough to the correct voltage - think tolerance is about 5%)
Red or Orange = out of range (too high or too low; faulty)
No LED = Immediate fail or the pin isn't conducting properly with the tester

Check out the pic below (hope it works) and see if that pin is connecting with the corresponding pin on the tester. If it is, then yeah. Broken tester or broken PSUs.

Most testers are fine, but just like all other electronic items it could be faulty... I'd be tempted to try another tester or confirm with a 3rd power supply - preferably one that IS already tested to be okay. It's highly unlikely your tester is breaking the supplies.

If it's starting to freeze, give your machine a RAM test and Hard Drive test. If they both pass it's likely (likely! not definitely!) software - nothing a format/reload can't fix

Hope that helps mate.

In other discussions on Results Test this forum I've discovered that considering test results of the different AV programs seems to be a controversial issue here So far I've mainly seen consensus in favor of the opinion that first-hand experience should be considered more highly than test results My own opinion is actually opposite Please let me explain by offering a parallel situation that I think holds key commonalities with the selection of an anti-virus program Car safety is a good example of the way I think people should be thinking about their anti-virus software A person can go his entire life feeling safe driving in a car that has no air-bags or even using seat belts The illusion of safety is created because a single person on their own rarely encounters very dangerous situations What you want to be prepared for though in terms of car safety is that unusual moment when you are suddenly in Test Results danger I've heard people here say they have been using X product for years with no problems Well the same could be said for most car accident victims Driving with no airbag or seat belt worked perfectly well for years until Test Results the day they were killed Its an extreme analogy but the dynamic of the risks is similar Just as in car safety tests where cars are put to the test of the most dangerous situations only namely impacts again and again in order to thoroughly test how Test Results well they perform in just those situations so day-to-day typical use of an antivirus program doesn't seriously test the protection value of the software One thing I should mention is my own experience I was hit by a very persistent difficult-to-remove virus in this past year That virus was originally on a computer that was protected by AVG free It ended up on my own McAfee-protected computer by way of a USB thumb drive Neither program detected it I also ran Bitdefender's online scan and that also did not detect it For anyone interested in the details I sought help with this virus on this forum and also on techsupportforum com -- you can search and find the step by step process of what needed to be done to get rid of it and how major AV programs totally failed to deal with it or even find it So for myself and I guess it should be the same for anyone what is most important is finding an AV program that simply has the consistently highest rates of detection and also is best at catching viruses that are not yet in its own database what they refer to as 'heuristics' -- the ability to spot something that appears to be a virus that hasn't yet made it to their updates of recognized viruses So for me listening to people's first hand experience just isn't enough No program will catch everything but some surely tend to catch more than others But by listening to individual users' experience only there is no serious way to compare them Individual users can't intensively test their own program vs many viruses or versus other AV programs A whole lifetime of a single user's experience is far less intense than a single anti-virus test where millions of virus samples are thrown at an AV program in one go A single user doesn't keep track of their results A single user is just going by gut instinct alone That's a completely unscientific approach to the subject You can take the anecdotal evidence of the user who had no problems for years with AVG and put it next to my own where I got killed using AVG McAfee and Bitdefender and what does it total up to You're in the dark I've heard people talk about the fairly useless 'bells and whistles' that come with paid programs -- I tend to agree with that view The purpose of an AV program is to protect the computer from viruses If it can't do that well it's not a good program The UI is low priority All the bells and whistles are too But to find out how well it does its main job I can't see how anyone can refuse to look at test results I've been trying to find good information about test results and have only come a... A:Test Results

Just came across this list of a test reported last month on Virus Bulletin (tests done by AV-test.org): http://www.virusbtn.com/news/2008/09_0234 different programs tested. Details of the tests are better than I've seen from this group before (about 1 million viruses and 90,000 spyware samples used), though they don't give a breakdown of what kinds they used, as AV-comparatives does. These results have a lot of overlap with AV-comparatives' tests. For fans of free AV, the good news is that Antivir performed very well. The bad news is that AVG had mediocre performance.

So I took the test at http://www.systemrequirementslab.com to see how my computer would run GRAW and everything passed but it says this about my CPU:

CPU
Recommended: Pentium 4/Athlon XP or better
You Have: 2 processors running - Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.80GHz
PASS

CPU Speed
Recommended: 2.8 GHz
You Have: 2.79 GHz Performance Rated at 4.19 GHz
PASS

Why would it say that it's rated at 4.19 GHz?

A:What does this mean? (SR Lab-test results)

Because a dual CPU setup is not 2x faster than a single CPU machine. As you can see, this dual CPU is rated at 1.5 times a single CPU. This is pretty much the same weight I would give, considering that computer games are not very SMP-friendly.

Below are the errors. I am new at this, so can someone please confirm the errors, and that my computer's memory is bad? I hope so because otherwise, if it's the CPU and it'll cost $500+ to replace. thank you in advance.

3 million errors after 1 hour:

It had up to 14 million errors after 2 hours and 28 minutes. The test never went through Test 4, and I had to manually stopped it :

I manually selected test 12, but it didnt get too far:

I'm hoping it's defective RAM (it's weird because RAM was replaced once before under warranty about 1 and 1/2 years ago).

Hello,
I was wondering why my download speed is 1.58mb/s when its suppose to be 3.00mb/s. I have the [email protected] DSL pro internet package, and its advertised as having 3mb/s download speed so why am i getting 1.58?
Ive tested it on a few sites and they have all came up with about the same results:

Any ideas on how to get it near 3mb/s?
Thanks.

Unfortunately there isnt much you can do. ADSL (and pair gain adsl) is dependent on distance from the switching statation. SBC (and att+t) dont promise the 3 Mb downloads they say it is optimum or normal. In fact they dont even promise 24 hour availability.

I had DSL for 3 years so I know your pain.

Do we as PC users, choose our security thro actual test results ( detection etc) or simply the reputation

A:Test Results vs Reputation?

AkumaSama said:

Well its obvious that reputation is a large part of the decision making since not every PC user reads testing reports and a even bigger group does not even know they exist.
So usually reputation or advise from a friend is the "go by" method in selecting a security solution.
That is also a reason why the security industry agreed a baseline level of security that guarantees that whatever package you take they all at least meet the minimal protection level which is sufficient for the bulk of the internet users.

I recently installed a new stick of generic 1G, PC2700 DDR RAM in slot 01 on my old but faithful PC to compliment the 512mb i already had in slot 0 started up and it seems as if my PC is performing much better now, cpu-z detects it as being 1024mb(1536 total) no problem as does my advanced system info in XP SP2 and Advanced WindowsCare and various RAM monitors however when i run SpeedFan it detects the new stick as being only 4mb why is this? PC Wizard 2007 does the same. Can anyone shed some light on this ? Just curious as i thought this to be odd.

Independent test lab AV-Test has completed a series of tests for antivirus/anti-malware products on Windows 8 and 8.1.

They compared both business and consumer solutions. For each, they tested with the then-current version last November and December to increase confidence in the numbers. They compared the business solutions to Microsoft System Center Endpoint Protection and the consumer solutions to Microsoft Windows Defender.

A survey has been done by a very well known monthly magazine which has tested online security packages, some free and some paid for. Results are just out.

The testing involves old and new viruses and all sorts of malware being exposed to the security packages and checking how they dealt with them.

The one which was considered the best of the bunch was Bullguard which cost 18. Only just behind in the survey was Microsoft Security Essentials which of course is free.

Third was AVG (paid for version at 30) and fourth was AVG Free, only just behind.

It then went Norton (28), F-Secure (18), Avira (35), Avira Free, Panda (30), and in 10th place Kaspersky (24).

So it looks as if MSE is, by far, the best value for money.

I've just installed it.

A:New PC Security Test Results

Aye, I was cynical that a Microsoft product that dealt with security could be any good but Mucks convinced me it was ok and I use it now. Together with a coupla free Malware progs.

I suppose Microsoft could be at the forefront of this market as they are constantly being targeted by the Blue Meanies with viruses and Malware.

Also, the Which survey is just a snapshot, any given AV software's status in a league table is constantly shifting as each one battles to stay ahead of things.

Just a thought

A:Smart test Failure on HD. What do these results mean?

A smart failure tends to mean ...well failure is pretty imminent you probably should backup data now while it's still booting. It could hold out for as long as a year in that state, or it could die completely tomorrow.
From my own experience that's pretty much it.
A SMART failure always means some key component in the drive is on it's way out.

Hi,

I did a network test with Passmarks Performancetest. I'm running a 10/100 network with all devices connecting at 100Mb. On Performancetest there are 2 tests to run for Network speed, TCP and UDP.

The TCP speed test came back with an average 62000kbps (7.5Mb), and the UDP was 89000kbps (10.8Mb).

As I'm running a 100mb network, shouldn't the results of been higher?

A:Network Speed Test results?

The 100Mb refers to your local area connection (LAN) within the house/router/another computer etc but the TCP speed test is the speed of the internet connection and that`s set by what your ISP offers and what wiring the line supplier has running in your street at the time.

I`m not sure how it is in the C.I. but on the mainland UK, 7.5mbps is not too bad for a standard connection so unless you`ve got cable, everything seems to be okay.

I'm not computer literate as most here so bear with me. I was checking security of my ip via GRC and failed miserably. However, after reading several forums I've learned that there is an external IP that is being tested and not the one for my router??

My question is: When I changed turned off my ZA free firewall and switched back to windows 7 offered firewall I actually gained a couple ports being stealthed(still failed miserably with pings and all) that I didn't have when ZA was activated.

Technically this shouldn't even happen and there should be no difference since the external IP is the one being scanned, am I correct???

A:GRC test results are different with windows & ZA firewalls??

Your router/modem that connects you to the Internet has (at least) 2 IP addresses: the public IP address (connected to the Internet) and the private IP address (connected to your LAN).

GRC is scanning the network interface with the public IP address of your router.

Disabling/switching firewalls on your machine should not make a difference in the results of GRC, except when your router has port-forwarding to your machine enabled.

After months of posting to forums, and talking to my ISP's tech people I am no closer to a solution to my problem (which seems to be widespread) than I was when it started. My problem is this, I am unable to access secure (https) Web site/pages. I have tried suggestion after suggestion (as to how to fix this problem) with no favorable results.
Today, I happened upon a site that offered a free "extensive browser test." This test (which I took) yielded the following information (on my browser's capabilities) that has me baffled.
Property
SSL____ True
SSL Enabled____ False
SSL Active____ False
SSL KeySize____ Not available with SSL disabled/blocked
Does this mean what I think it means? Both SSL 2.O, 3.O, and TLS 1.O are enabled, So, what do I make of this? I have IE 6.0 SP 1. Can anyone interpet this information. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

A:Confusing results from browser test

It looks to me that they are NOT enabled or active because it says the value is false. Try going to start, control panel, internet options, click the advanced tab and under security check the boxes SSL 2.0 and SSL 3.0 (TLS 1.0 if you want to). I also see that you have service pack 1, try downloading service pack 2 that might correct the problem also.

Greetings:

I own a new Dell XPS13 (9350). Seems to work properly, but I have questions about Dell SupportAssist Test results. When I ran the Simplified System test series (10 minutes), I got a test result: "Module Failed to Start", but Passes for all components listed.

But when I next ran the Extended System Tests (Manual) (15 minutes), I got an Overall Test Result of "Internal Error", with several reported failures:

The L2 Cache Module Failed to StartThe Math Register Test Module Failed to StartThe MMX Module Failed to StartThe Prime Number Generator Test reported an Abnormal ExitTCP/IP Internal Loopback Test Failed to StartThe PCI Bus Subsystem Configuration Test reported an Abnormal Exit

Can someone help me to understand these errors and whether they represent a problem that I should have fixed under warranty? It's hard to believe that my brand-new XPS13 is so broken...

Thanks,

Airpilot

I'm in the process of using MS Publisher 2003 to make a multiple-choice test that will appear on a website. At the bottom of the test, I'd like to include a "Tabulate Test Results" button that, when pressed, will cause calculated values (e.g., percent correct) to appear in otherwise blank fields on that document.

I'm not sure how to go about doing this. I've assigned numerical values to the option buttons in the test, but I'm not sure where to go from here. I've tried adding a Submit button to the document, but that seems to be useful only if I want to send the test information elsewhere. What should I do? Does MS Pub. 2003 have all the features necessary to make a document of the sort I'm trying to make? If not, is there some other program I should use?

Thanks,

I am very much a novice in building databases I am trying to build a database to store test results I have created two tables so far one for Test 2000) Results database (Access details of the person performing the tests one for the test results Included in the test results table is the following quot Tested by quot Customer info Details of equipment Test Results database (Access 2000) serial number subtype Test Results database (Access 2000) etc Yes quot N A quot tickoff for test procedures carried out Output power measurements for up to ports My question is whether there is a better way of doing this There are many many fields in the test results table I tried separating the output powers into a separate table on a one-one relationship by serial number I couldn t figure out however how to enter the data into two tables from one form Another question I have is whether the format appearance of a query can be based on a word document The results were previously stored as word documents which were printed and sent to customer I want to be able to create and print the same reports from this data base Thanks in advance Michael nbsp

Yeah! Go COMODO!
So many firewalls in the red range... mostly from security bloatware and Internet Suite companies. Including the newly released AVG 8.0
You can see how good the companies are just by looking at their comments on the bottom. Some apparently don't care about their firewalls

Security Essentials did a good job at blocking malware in new performance tests from AV-Test.org.
The free standalone antivirus product has caused a stir since its release last week, as might be expected when the words "Microsoft" and "free" are involved. But following AV-Test.org tests last week, it looks to have the goods.

How do I figure out the Mbps?

A:Are these good download/upload speed test results?

Mbps is Kbps divide by 1000. If you want to convert Mbps to Kbps, then multiply by 1000.

So:
11.934 Mbps download
1.567 Mbps upload

Because I needed to reapply the thermal paste on my era quad core W that came with a QM I decided to upgrade the CPU nbsp While I was at it I upgraded the to / 2720QM 2960XM from test results W520 2860QM heatsink fan to the W model the W It's very easy to do this because in North America at least you can buy the official part directly from Lenovo IBM My machine came with the W heatsink and fan the W which looks identical and even comes with exactly the same fan W520 from 2720QM to 2960XM / 2860QM test results nbsp I was unsure which CPU would meet my needs better so I purchased both from eBay and tested them They are both nbsp reasonably priced these days relative to their introductory price at W520 from 2720QM to 2960XM / 2860QM test results least The XM has a Mhz faster base clock and MHz faster turbo clock than the QM but runs at W vs W nbsp In brief I found for my needs the QM is probably the better choice because it throttles less when under sustained heavy load If instead I needed sporadic short sharp bursts of power the XM would likely be the better choice nbsp I ran a demanding benchmark that is meaningful to my work Before sharing the results I want to make one thing clear these results are indicative and not definitive because I ran each test only once However I did ensure intensive Windows background services had had a chance to run e g the Windows Modules Installer Worker nbsp Moreover what makes comparing the CPUs more tricky than might be imagined is the fact that installing the heat sink fan is a lot more difficult than with a desktop computer Specifically very small changes in the angle of the plates that cover the CPU and GPU can cause significant changes in thermal performance for better or for worse For instance the plate s might set too high above the CPU GPU or not be positioned so that the entire surface area is covered I had to spend quite some time getting that right with the W heatsink nbsp Additionally I probably had too much thermal paste on the CPU when I tested the XM nbsp So with those caveats in mind the following is what I found when running Piccure Piccure uses all cores and runs for a long time It can use the GPU but the Quadro M is too old for Piccure to do so so it's a good test of the CPU Using a megapixel panorama GB in size the results are in minutes nbsp Intel XM W heatsink Intel XM W heatsink Intel QM W heatsink The XM throttled plenty of times whereas the QM did so only once and that's the difference Throughout the test the QM was very regularly running at degrees Incidentally the QM ran minutes slower than the QM i e almost hours but that's only because its performance was severly constrained by its too-old thermal paste nbsp It's possible the W heatsink result is poorer because the angle of the plate above the CPU was not as optimal as with the W model Or it maybe that despite looking exactly the same the W model is in fact different The fan does sound more abrasive in the W version I have despite being the exact same model fan as in the W version nbsp nbsp
