I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)
Hey guys, I am going on holiday in early June and am looking for a way to listen to music while I'm in the pool as I plan to spend a lot of time doing so.
The way I can see it is that I have two options:
Buy a waterproof case and waterproof headphones
buy a waterproof MP3 player all-in-one.
Obviously each option has it's flaws - otherwise I wouldn't be there.
Even if I buy a waterproof case how can I be sure that even though there is a waterproof case, where it contacts with waterproof earphones will be waterproof as 'waterproof' to some sellers just means rain-proof.
The problem with the all in ones like the Sony Waterproof Walkman is that they are very expensive for very little space, the 4GB alone being £50 and 8GB is £80.
Does anyone have experience in the matter, anything they can recommend, preferably I'd like to use my phone in a case for my 32GB MicroSD card, but whatever works I guess.
:big grin: My wife JUST purchase a waterproofed iPad Shuffle from waterfi.com
website is very descriptive and the device is AS Advertised - - she's very happy with it
When I play windows media player or any other mp3 player my pc begins to slow down a lot and mouse stutters and my internet webpage closes :/ any help please?

What are your system specs?
Some possible solutions: Make sure Windows is up to date. Try updating your sound driver (post your system specs and I will show you how to).
Hey guys, I've recently ordered a new PC and it should be here in a week. I'm a gamer and I like to write music and will finally be able to record with my new system. I'm just lacking a sound card. So basically I'm looking for a card that will be awesome for gaming and music. Any suggestions out there? I know I will need a PCI-E card. I'm looking to spend $150-200. Any help would be much appreciated
This is probably the best one out there: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829132010
That is the best of both worlds. There is a better card for gaming, but the Essence above is much better for creating music and phenomenal for gaming.
Having dredged the internet, I came across this forum amongst the many with questions relating to cd drives working but dvd not etc, but my issue is slightly different, i think.
CDs seem to play ok, and so do DVDs, but I seem to have a problem with my laptop reading a disc with DS games on it that it used to read no problem. The discs can be used in my other half's laptop, so it is clearly a problem with my laptop.
I'd appreciate if anyone could advise where I can start to solve this problem
You need to have the CD/DVD drive replaced. Internal lasers fail in strange ways. The drives are not too expensive and they are easy to replace
As a part time DJ i spend a lot of time playing the same laptop a Recording music from music in the same order so i was thinking what if i Recording music from a laptop could just sit down and record the tracks that i play Recording music from a laptop directly into one Recording music from a laptop big MP and then it would save me having to load and cue each track I use a program called ClubDJ Pro its a twin deck system with a predefined playlist i can usually just load a playlist and tell it to cross fade during the last quot X quot seconds of the song X being a set time between and seconds However i find some songs have an extended silence at the end that can when i first played them mess up the auto cross fade facility and as anyone will tell you silence is deadly when your doing DJ ing So is there a program i can use to either record directly from my program or use another PC or laptop to record onto i assume i would use the earphone out on one to the Line In socket on the other PC Laptop and then record onto that It would be good as it then means i can use different mixes of my own nbsp
you might use WavePad Sound Editor to remove the trailing silence
My speakers are Logitech Surround Speaker Z506 and motherboard gigabyte z68x-ud5-b3.
I havent got a soundcard but I'm wondering why i cant use 5.1? and what sort of plugins/codecs i need for it? it used to work for my old machine using realtek HD and all 5 speakers work but for some reason my newer machine doesnt work, anyone can help or lead me to find a solution?
What media player are you using and does it support Dolby 5.1?
Looking for the best headphones for gaming and music... Noise canceling preferred so I can use them in a work environment also. Planning on spending no more than $100. Don't need a mic I can just use a separate one.
What do you guys think?
I'm considering using a few more dollars to get the Audio-Technica ATH-A700's, hmm what do you guys think.
DMA is enabled...
The sound is synced to the voices, but the music seems to be playing slowly. Like in slow motion.
Have tried playing with several different audio players... VLC (VLC default codecs) and k-lite codecs as well...
Okay, soo my computer's memory is full and I want to clean it out. I was wondering if it's possible to export my itunes library on a 1TB external hard drive, delete all the music off the computer than be able to sync my ipod while my hard drive is plugged in. Thanks
I have a Dell Inspiron 530 with vista and every time i try to play a song from my external hdd i get an error message that says "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Set associations control panel.
This is the normal instruction for setting up a file association.
1. Open Default Programs by clicking the Start button, typing "default programs" and then clicking Default Programs in the pop up list.
2. Click on Associate a file type or protocol with a program.
This opens a list of extensions.
3. Choose the extension of the files that you wish to open then click on change program button.
4. Select the program you wish to associate the file with and click Ok.
If you have already done this try right clicking on the file and selecting open with then choose the player.

Can you take a screen shot of the actual error message and post it? You might just have to re-install the sound card driver, but who knows you haven't given enough info yet to give you a good answer.

I'm thinking that without gaming ambitions, the new Intel core i3 CPUs might meet your needs with their integrated graphics. These give pretty decent scores in
the Windows Experience Index, something like 4.9 for Areo, and 5.3 for business and gaming graphics. To the best of my knowledge, the matching H55/ H57 Intel chipset motherboards provide Fire Wire input.
You should first subscribe to Newegg's Email list, so you can grab your parts as they become available on sale.
Here is Intel's list of socket LGA1156 CPUs available at Newegg; http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...=2010340343 50001157 1051749233&name=LGA 1156
And the matching integrated graphics H55/ H57 boards in the Gigabyte brand; http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...01314 1070549182 107173338&name=Intel H55/H57 Be sure to pick one with 4 memory sockets. (4 out or 5 do). I have this one; http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128421
Please pay no attention to the bad reviews for this product, they were all written by imbeciles claiming, "high technical ability". I don't know squat about computers, and I had one of these systems up and running perfectly, with Windows 7 installed, in about 3 hours.
In fact, I'm hoping Newegg will offer "don't know squat" as a technical ability claim option. That way, I'll be able to check, "don't know squat", and report, "it works perfectly for me, 5 stars"!
Here is a test report done on a few of these boards at Techspot; http://www.techspot.com/review/259-intel-h55-motherboard-shootout/

My favorite music player is "Winamp Media Player"
1. Flash Music Player
2. sidebar music players
3. RealPlayer 10
What is your favorite music player?
i just use itunes, since most of the time I only want to have the music playing the bacground, i don't really care for the download options that it gives or the visualizer.
I have a strange experience with sounds lately I have no come background games of music sound How some different? idea why this happening or what is causing it but here it is How come some background music of games sound different? One day I was doing some light gaming on both my tower and laptop since both my computers meets the minimum requirements and while playing this game I heard some unusual sounds on both How come some background music of games sound different? my laptop and tower my laptop while playing the background music of the game seemed to be missing a couple or not few sound types in the game On my tower it sounded like it had an extra beat as if I could here that extra sound s with the background music playing I can t explain real good but to simplify this my laptop seemed to be lacking of some melody beats while my tower has it all and slightly deeper bass I turned my laptop speakers high yet no extra melody beat appeared I How come some background music of games sound different? did the same with the tower sounded the same as before but just louder I am sure I installed this game on both my computer successfully with no errors I reinstalled it again and same problem occurred I don t understand is the speakers more sensitive on the tower and giving it more variety of sounds or is the laptop speakers not so sensitive in outputting more variety of sounds Or both are wrong and it is just the matter of XP and VISTA or is it the software or drivers installed for the sounds Is something wrong with the speakers Do I need buy better ones Ones that s suppose to act normal nbsp
try updating your sound drivers first, then you might want to look into past problems others might have had with this games sound. Since this happened to both your computers at the same time it sounds like the problem is the game.
A simple test to see if your speakers are broke is just...play music on them. Does it sound fine? yes? then it's not your speakers
unfortunatly without knowing what game it is that you are talking about I can't really look into any problems others have had with it.
I am running XP/Win7 on my AMD 64 Athlon 3400+ powered Pavillion. I have an integrated Realtek AC'97 audio card and lately I've noticed that all music playback is choppy - whether it's iTunes, Windows Media Player, or Youtube. I've tried different speakers, headphones, etc., but reagrdless of the hardware I use, I still get the same problem. It sounds as if the music is being paused and then played very quickly throughout the song. I don't really notice it in Windows sound effects, but that may be because they are short in length. I notice this happening on both XP and Windows 7 and don't know why.
Try updating your audio and chipset driver. There could also be a program running in the background taking up to much memory or CPU cycles. If you listen to music alot you should get a dedicated sound card. You can get a really good Audigy on Ebay for under $15. Onboard audio is notoriously troublesome. Too many other things in the system can interfere with it.

Hey! My comp can play music but when I play DVDs or run .avis I only get background music and the vocal audio is so low it's almost muted. I can't figure it out. I have DivX installed and AC3Filter as well but I use WMP and Cyberlink PowerDVD, no vocals from either. Do I need codecs? How do I find out which I need?
I've been able to boost sound with the AC3Filter and get DVD vocals now through WMP but I still am not getting any vocals from my DVDs when played through my Cyberlink PowerDVD. Any suggestions? I'm sure I'm missing a codec or something but I can't figure out what. The website I used to go to to download audio codecs for WMP11 looks down for the count so I'm at a loss.
Bought my wife a Sylvinia SMPK4068, 4gig MP3 player. My son has a zune and an account. He was able to download to an OPEL RCA MP3 player with no problems from the zune site. However when we try to down load to the Sylvinia it states it's a bad file type or can't download subscription. This is a plug and play device with an disc included for conversion of AVI files. Any suggestions? Like all the options of this unit for the price just the problems with downloads from the zune site.
I thought that site was strictly for zune users, as I own one myself, i know you cant go hooking an ipod up to it either.
For whatever reason nothing will buffer here at home (youtube, myspace, etc) after a few seconds. It'll start out working fine and then just stop buffering.
We have a wireless network here so we can share a printer. I've tried all the computers in the house (Vista, XP), multiple browsers (Firefox, Explorer, Chrome), disabling the firewall, and clearing browser data. Nothing has helped. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
try uninstalling flash and install the newest version here

I just purchased a MP3 from Sylvania model SMPK4066. I connected my player with USB to my computer. Using Windows Media Player 11 and the sync option I synchronized my player 100% complete. Now my player reads No Files but WMP shows all of my music was tranferred and I see Folders on my MP3 screen with artists names but no music is playing and it still says No FIles. I need someone to help me get this thing to play my music. Thank you very much to whomever figures this out.

My cablebox has dozens of music stations. I would like to make music CDs to play in the car. I can copy to a VHS tape with my VCRs, or to a DVD through my computer. What do I need to do now?"
I think you could buy a TV card for your computer and "capture" the cable music that way
Endeavours to play a music CD on my desktop computer now prompt the following error message to appear. - "Canno convert CD Rom drive letter to ASPI information.. Digital reading is impossible."

So what is your systems make and model? What operating system are you running?
The title might sound a little weird but here's my problem. Yesterday i was chatting with my friends with a crappy headset then it broke.I just got a new one but this one is weird whenever i'm playing a music or something my friends can hear it too. I try checking it by using the sound recorded. It seems like they picked up the music in the background too. Is there anyway to stop it so i can use my mic alone?
Click start/control panel/Sounds and Audio Devices/Advanced and make sure the mic is muted on the playback side.
I pictures corrupt Music and will try to explain as well as I Music and pictures corrupt can My friend has been having some slight computer problems lately so I went over to take a look The first problem that the screen would get a lot of jibberish on it Pixels or what ever I tried Music and pictures corrupt a new cable and uninstalled and reinstalled the driver and Music and pictures corrupt no go I installed a new driver and the same Finally I tried a new video card and it worked great That is just the first of the problem I then noticed that one of his hdd on his raid had gone bad so I took it out and got it replaced In the meantime when I restarted his computer it did a disc check and did some things I had never seen before but it completed the check on the good disc All seemed to be working well until a few days ago he said that his music was doing crazy things so I went over to take another look I played a song and it would start in the middle of the song and play a whole nother song I would play Queen and Celine would come on but it would start in the middle of one of her songs Not all the songs are like that though We never did count but I would venture to say at least half are still good I then just out of curiosity went to his pictures and they also had problems A couple of them would show up and the others would not They still showed they had mb or mb in each folder for the pictures but nothing would show up He mentioned something about some power surges but he is proteced with a battery backup ups from APC What does it sound like to you nbsp
Sounds like a failing hard drive...
Whenever I have inserted a cd in a drive and selected explore, I have been able to see the file type. I bought a cd, karaoke style -- for all practical purposes here -- and when I inserted the CD I only found pdf files which hold the sheet music. I always make a copy of these cds in case one becomes damaged. On two computers I was completely surprised that I could see nothing except the PDF files. Is there a way to see the music files?
Purhaps you did not buy a CD with music on it. It may be a karaoke cd that gives you sheet music to some popular songs to let them play and sing it yourself (thus the karaoke).
I cant think of anything else because if thats ALL thats on the disk then the obove situation is accurate in my opinion
Can't figure out what is going on with my MySpace profile. About a week ago, all of the music vids I have on my profile stopped playing. The only exception is one YouTube video which still works. I re-installed a newer version of Active X thinking this might solve the problem. Still does not work.
Interesting though, when I view my profile on a computer other than my own, all of my videos play on my profile.
What do you think the problem may be? Has anyone had the same problem?

I have encountered a problem when I have tried to burn music to cd r. The drive will play music ok- so no problem there. However when I try to burn some tracks it will only record about 10 seconds. I will then get an error message saying that my cd is dirty or may be recording at wrong speed. Have tried other speeds without any success also tried downloading latest version of window media and closed all other applications that may have caused even a remote problem. Can anyone help or have any suggestions how to fix this problem?
Is this a laptop or a desktop computer.
It seems as if your CD drive is worn out of alignment. Either the read laser or the write laser is out of whack or it is just worn out. How old is the drive?
Burners last about a year, on average... less, if used a lot. It is easier and cheaper to replace them, than to fix them.
If you are in a dusty climate, you can remove the bottom from the burner, and use Dust Off or other canned air with difluoroethane gas to clean the unit. Do not touch the laser... just blow dust out of the drive.
There are some utilities that will reset the burner on some models. Do a Gurgle search for your brand and model.
(if this is in the wrong section, my bad)
for mlb 08 the show, you can choose to add your own music from the MS Pro Duo Card. I have songs that can be played in the mp3 player in the PSP, but when i want to load up songs to the game, it won't recognize the files and say i don't have any songs on the card.
I can't remember the last time I was able to playback audio cd's (store bought) but I am sure I was able to at one time. I'll insert a cd into the drive at the autoplay box does popup saying it is an audio cd, so the drive WILL recognize the disc. However upon attempting to playback or rip, the drive will endlessly try to read the disc, freezing whichever program I'm using to playback/rip. The hard disc action light is also at full blast while this is happening. I have tried several cds and programs to no avail.
The Drive itself requires replacing
You can also purchase cleaning discs to clean the laser, but the money is usually best spent on a new DVD R/W drive
my music folder use to arrange my mp3 files in order from oldest to newly added. i must have clicked something because it doesnt anymore. can you tell me how to make it so it will arrange them from when they were added, like it once did?

Open the music folder and then click on the 'Date Modified' tab at the top. You may have to click it one more time to get the latest file on top.
Hi Guys, i build an 5 channels amp and i have 5 speakers, i have an SoundCard with 5 channels Output, i found that if the song is just 2 channels the output will be to the Front Speakers, is possible to send the output to the Front and Rear Speakers?
Thanks in advance.
as long as you have front, rear inputs for your

You might have Temporary "files waiting to be written to the disk" in explorer.
put an empty disk in the drive open my computer and double click on the CD/DVD-RW drive, if any files appear in explorer greyed out then delete them by clicking "Delete these temporary files".
if you have any open windows that are showing the contents of the drive then you should close them too. other than that then there's probably another program monitoring the drive, could be a media player that you set to monitor your Drive for playable media.
hi.. i'm a music producer... and my main tool is Reason 4 software from PropellerHeads... and i want to buy a new PC... and my dilema is the CPU..
which one do you think i should buy.. the new 45nm E8400 or the old Q6600??
the problem with Reason is that it's not biult for multi core CPUs so i guess the E8400 should do the job better... but recently i saw some tests with Reason running on a Q6600 and i was amazed...
really dunno what to do here. and my mainboard of choice is the Gigabyte G33-DS3R... hope someone could help me on this one!
thanks in advanced!!
To Err Is Human....To Forgive Is Not in the Nature of Computers...
Either the 8400 or the 6600 should give more than adequate performance with music files. (By "more than adequate", I mean spectacular). I don't want to overstep my knowledge here, but I'm guessing that music files don't present the same degree of difficulty as 1920 X 1200 High Def Video encoding. Which I'm sure software engineers are currently rushing to adapt applications for quad (or more), core use. Point being you couldn't go wrong with either CPU.
BIOS updating can be a tricky and risky affair. That being said, I would check which BIOS version is present in the Motherboard before making a decision on which CPU to buy. The E8400 would absolutely require a BIOS update, whereas the Q6600 might not. IMHO, the plug and play part always wins.
Then there's always plan "C": wait for a 45nm quad CPU.
I found this to be quite interesting, I have Nero 6 which is not at least 3 years old. When I use the"advanced analysis" function in "Recode" (essentially "DVDshrink") on my machine with a Pentium Dual Core E2200, task manager is telling me that BOTH cores are operating at 100%. I didn't think that this version of Nero was even written for dual core CPUs, but there you have it, clipping along at up to 1000 FPS, firing on both barrels!
Music is getting interrupted when losing focus from Winamp or I open some other application in my Windows XP system. The system ia having 1GB RAM and 80GB HDD with Dual core processor
You probably have a lot of temp files on your hard drive... Open Internet Options in IE and delete these type files and cookies
Toshiba lap top satellite M115-S3144
Windows XP Media Center Edition

Periodically playing music is skipping, crackles, garbled, etc. After "out of box" restore will work OK for awhile.....then starts garbling up again.............
Follow these four steps:
Do a clean boot. Clear temp and prefetch.
Create a restore point and then update the sound card drivers.
Also try to install KLite codecs from filehippo.com
Do Windows Updates.
Ok first off i really couldn t find the best forum to post this in so please move as requried Right brass tacks I m creating a fully cat e and probably coax too while i m at it embedded network in the house i m about to move into I ve just installed Vista Home Premium as a dual boot on my main pc and it links nicely to the xbox for the media center bits n bobs My intention is to put c d pc s in each of the kids rooms running Vista HP too They will also eventually have tv cards in so they can watch tv from their rooms I would like to put a NAS box on the network for central storage and create a library NAS...etc dvd Creating on a a library of all our dvd s on there so the kids can just use their media centre to select a dvd and watch it rather than finding the disc and playing it through their dvd drive How do i successfully copy a dvd film to the NAS so that it populates the media center list and can be watched by clicking its thumbnail Drag n drop TS files etc or is there specific software that will do it all for me If kids wanted to watch either the same film or different films at the same time from their own bedrooms would they experience stuttering due to the load Indeed can the same film be watched simultaneously by pc s on the network Bearing in mind my first point about flooding cat e through the house i thought i d flood coax in as well for tv radio quality to each room Any other cabling to consider The answers you nice people give may raise more questions so be prepared nbsphttp://www.techspot.com/community/topics/creating-a-dvd-library-on-a-nas-etc.94868/
Winamp's being... temperamental, to say the least.
I have a music library of ~2000 songs which I want to get it to sync to my MP3 player. It recognizes that my player is connected to my PC just fine, but when I tell it to sync all 2000 songs in one shot the program freezes and crashes.
I really do NOT want to have to sit at my PC for hours and sync my music library 50 songs at a time. Is there a workaround for this problem or am I just going to have to bite the bullet?
EDIT: Mods, please delete this thread, I reposted it in "Misc. Software". Thanks.

Google for Driver Cleaner Pro and make sure all instances of the Audigy drivers are removed. Go to Creative's Support site and download the Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS latest drivers. Install them and see if your sound returns to normal
i have a slight problem on my hands. when i play oblivion, the in-game music skips a lot. all the other sounds like footsteps/swords/battles/environments play perfectly fine but the background music won't stop skipping. I use a creative x-fi soundblaster xtreme music card to which i recently updated the drivers to and a sennheiser hd555 headset as well. I can provide any extra info needed.
thanks in advance,
Do you take care of your oblivion disk? It may have a really bad scratch...
Currently I have 3 Temp monitor (BIOS included). Currently I have a E6550 processor, stock everything. When I play games it goes up to 70c (Core temp wise) and Im idling at 42-43(core temp). but on CPU cool 8.0.4 and BIO's im idling on 35+'s and full load at 50+'s. Subject is, which monitor is giving out the right temp?
Well, if you have 3 programs, find a situation where 2 of the programs produce the same values, and then I'd go with them. This is because all the programs read from the same temp probe, but some could stuff it up. BIOS is normally correct, but there could be a malfunction of some sort.
I have used Mediaplayer 11 for about a year. Iopened last week and it stated that there were no items and I had to add my music to my library. I try to do this by specifying where the player should monitor but nothing happens. When I go back to that window my manually added folders have disappeared. I have rolled it back to media player 10 but it states that the file wmplayer11 is where wmplayer10 should be and asks if I want to download the newest mediaplayer. I have done this many times, done a system retore, run a virus check, even tried to remove it from the computer, and start over, but it will not let me do it. I am at a loss. I cannot get this to work whatever I do. Any help that I could get from anyone would be appreciated. Thanks.
I installed a creative sound blaster xtreme music in my computer, and shows error code 12, i tried already to disable some things but still not working.

I restarted and since then been having the CODE 12 error. I have reinstalled the drivers about 3 times and tried different pci slots. this sucks really bad cause onboard sound is crap
I hope that this is in the right section It may not even be a computer problem since the problem is solved when the computer is relocated however I could sure use a suggestion on who might have an answer When I play any music whether stored on the HD play a commercial music CD or a home burned plays music stutter with a All CD at some point about seconds into the music it takes a second long stutter followed All music plays with a stutter by a very short slow-down much like dragging your finger on a vinyl record as it plays then the music plays normally for maybe minute or so The periods between the stuttering is random Now I All music plays with a stutter have computers in my office network This is happening on every PC in the offices To test the possibilities I burned a fresh CD and played it on every PC The stuttering took place as usual randomly each time it was played I took it out to my car and played it There was no stuttering I packed up my PC and took it home to my home office I set it up and played music again There was no stuttering Music from the HD commercial CD and my home-burns all played fine The only variable here is the electricity Each PC is plugged into a UPS unit so I suspect the lines are clean coming in I know electricity can be dirty but I ve talked to two expert electricians and they have both looked at me like I was nuts They think that this is not an electrical problem So here I am in that impossible spot with a problem that just defies all logic There must be an answer Can anyone suggest who might be capable of answering such a problem nbsp
I know this sounds odd but you dont have roadworks or any building work near you by any chance? I had a wierd problem like this when there was a lot of groundwork being done outside my house. As soon as the builders packed up and left it was fine.
I have had my normal Audigy2 card for years now, and it is starting to play up, like cutting out in games, and often when i'm facing someone who is talking to me I can't hear them and will have to turn to the side to hear them, things like that lol.
I was planning to upgrade the card anyway, but i'm not sure whether I should get the X-Fi Gamer or Music. I hear they are essentially the same thing, although the Gamer is the newer edition. More people swear by the Music though.
I would love some advice, as they are both available, and both basically the same price.
OK, thanks. I can't imagine using Vista anytime soon, and even if I did, a patch would probably be out by then to add support do you think? I am using XP Home at the moment.
Hello, i have a tv tuner, but the sound needs to go from the tuner to the line in. I have a cable which connects those 2, but i am unable to figure out how to listen to the audio coming into the line in... I have vista OS. Any ideas?
OMG, I have so many questions that are killing me! and mostly they are related to mp3's! Please answer these if you have enough knowledge!
1. If I download music (by payment) on the internet, can I choose which format/bitrate I want it in? And can I choose lossless .wav format? I don't buy music online.
2. What are these numbers followed by the word Hash? What are these things?
3. What are these things - when I check the properties of an mp3 in it's comments/description tag, I often see numbers and letters in groups like this: http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/1835/commentsordescriptionxx6.jpg
So, as I rock my tunes on WMP....and surf the web using Firefox. As I load new pages, my sound breaks, and when it stops loading...it's fine again.

I have tested old speakers with the OLD audio card, which is still installed above my new Audiphile one. Old speakers work PERFECTLY, so it is NOT the CPU or PC. It is either the SPEAKERS or the AUDIOPHILE sound card. How do I find out? I have no other speakers that connect to the Audiophile card, and I have no other PC with a card that can test the speakers.
Anyone have an educated decision? A popping noise every 10 seconds or so, on and off, sometimes never happens...audiocard most likely, right? The speakers were bought brand new, M-Audio Studio Pro 3's. They seem just fine.
Hi i need to find out the bitrate, Hz and the type of file (e.g. mp3, ogg, acc etc)
Does anybody know an application that exists that will alow me to load a music file into it and in return it will display detailed information about the file.
OR does anybody know of a simple way of getting said info???
Any help would be great,
In Windows XP, you can right click on the file and select properties. Click the summary tab, then click advanced.
In Windows Vista, the info will appear at the bottom of the explorer window.

Hey, guys! Does anyone know of the game Croc 2 for the PC? It has really good music. The problem is, the music is unplayable in its current state. Is there a converter that can convert this music file? I went into another forum, and it says that the files are "headerless mono ADPCM packaged into an ASF file". ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED!!!
Look for an ASF extracting program, if there is one. Then you can open the PCM files with Wavelab or some program that can open those files. Just do a google of "ASF extract" and "audio converter"
What you could do very easily is get Goldwave and do the following steps:
Create an hour-long document in Goldwave
Set Recording properties to "Stereo Mix"
Hit record on Goldwave
NOTE: ANY sound will be recorded! Get to the part ingame where you have the music you want and just sit there until the track is done playing
Press stop in Goldwave and edit to your liking (remove unwanted header/trailer)
If you have any questions feel free to message me.
I am looking for help finding a music server software that i can place on a server and use to access my music from other computers on the network. prefurably something that has a easy to use user interface. does any one have any thoughts? i currently have 45,000 songs
You just want the server or do you want to access the songs on the TVs in the house also and play the music over the network to the TVs directly to your home theater system. This is the way I do it. One PC on the network stores all the Music, well I have more than one with Music. I can access the songs into a nice GUI which will display Visuals tell you what's currently playing things like that.
There is a lot of free stuff online that can do this..
Or like you want to access the just audio over the network to other PCs can be done also.
Using T-Player http://pages.infinit.net/tplayer/download.htm it's free and works on the local and network drives to pull in all the songs. You can create Playlist to control your massive songs.
Media Monkey is another way too also free..
If you want a good GUI that you can run all on the PCs and pick and choose what you want to watch it also does video and if you have a S-Video you can connect it to your TV and use a wireless keyboard and mouse to do the same.

Hello! Welcome to TechSpot
Judging by the specs:
Compaq Persario 5320 US
Intel Pentium 4 1.5GHz
nVIDIA Vanta 16MB video card
Sound max on board sound
It appears to me that your comp is getting aged
for some of the games you like and the video 16mb
seems to be your bottle neck.
I'm certain it's been good to you just alittle outdated.
2 possible solution would be to upgrade the video card
to at least a 64mb or even better a 128mb.
The other is to consider a fresh machine (non-proprietary)
though I would try the video card Ugrade 1st.
Why is it everytime i put on music and i am talking to a friend my friend can here music but not much talking. isen't thre anything i can do so i can talk and listen to music at th same time without th other person hearing it
What are you using to talk to your friend?
Some how today, I was listening to some music and all of the sudden the song got very distorted for some reason. I thought it was weird and just changed the song. Same problem. Now every thing I listen to has lots of distortion in it. I am using Winamp. I tried using other media programs like ITunes to see if it was just Winamp and it wasn't. I also tried plugging in headphones to see if it was just my speakers but it did it on the headphones as well. Anyone please suggest on how to fix my problem?
well first thing try uninstall /reinstall your audio card.
remove audio card and reset it as well.
windows media player won't play music had harddrive that would not boot up installed it as slave drop and dragged music to primary harddrive device manager shows that multimedia audio controller did not install properly. i have windows xp home i have a chaintech ct-7njl6 motherboard with onboard audio i downloaded the drivers for the audio from chaintech but they did not install properly. what should i do?
Did your computer come with a disk from the motherboard manufacturer?? After you reformatted your hard drive, did you install the drivers for the board from that disk??

Sound from the on board ac97 on a Gigabyte motherboard running windows XP was alright until I was using Winamp to convert CD's to MP3's. Then the Chipmunks took over. The Winamp was delated and reinstalled with no change to the sound. It sounds the same whether using a CD in the CD player or running a file off the hard drive. It sounds like this whether I am using Winamp, Media Player or Real Player. There must be a setting somewhere that needs to be reset to the default. Any help would be appriciated.
My AC97 on gigabyte motherboard sometimes don have sound until i have to resense the jack the only the sound comes back.

I'm doing a wedding next year sometime and I was wondering if anyone in here has a list of great music for a wedding? I have some right now, but I would like to find more but I'm having some problems on finding it at this moment so I thought that I would like to ask anyone in his room or this site if anyone has any list of good music for a wedding? I mean for example, (Top hits, 80's, 90's, country, hip/hop, R&B, etc.)
If anyone can help me out with this that would be great

I'm currently having problems finding out on how to make playlist profeshinal looking, so when I put it into a binder it looks really nice, does anyone have any sudjestions on any software or programs that will do this? and be able to print it out as well?

This is what I've used once or twice its called Mix Meister BPM Analyzer and it doesn't really work that great, but thats the only one that I can really find...
It is a good question my sudjestion is to just take screenshots and bind them together. Thats what I had to do
Just a quick question, im looking at getting a X-Fi Xtreme Music soundcard, and am just wondering what the difference is between the OEM and the Retail versions as the OEM is alot cheaper but is there any essential software etc that you dont get with it, and is it possible to get this seperately or is it best just to pay the extra and go with the retail version?
What are the buying the sound card for. Better sound quality, inputs, outputs e.t.c. Because I have the sound card you are about to buy because I wanted some inputs it came with. However quality wise I realy cant tell the difference between my built in sound card and th X-Fi.

Sounds like your HDD is on the brink of collapse!
Once you finally boot into Windows (Safe mode even), have you tried searching your HDD for *.mp3 or *.wma or whatever?
If your HDD is still showing the original disk size then chances are they are somewhere. Possibly written to bad sectors though.
You haven't enable System Restore have you? If so, roll back to a day you know everything was fine. If not ... remember it when you re-build next time!
Good luck! :grinthumb
WELL i went ahead and ordered these for my pc tell me what you think and how good they will be..
* 1 of: Logitech Z-5500 Digital 5.1 5-Piece Speaker System with Subwoofer
* 1 of: Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic Card ( 70SB046000007 )
from what i heard these 2 together will be loud as hell and those speakers are the best out by logitech..so give me your ideas on these items i got..should be getting them friday did a 1 day delivery.
Well those speakers are generally for people that like good sound rather then just "loud" noises but it's also very capable noise-wise so you should be fine.
Every time I try playing anything thats like videos online, they show up with a lot of bright colors. Can anyone tell me how to fix this? Whats the lastest codecs out?
Just google for free codec pack.
I would like to stream my itunes songs from my computer to my stereo system.
I have an existing wireless network, and don't want to run audio cables around the room so I think I'm looking at a "box" that would be placed at the stereo and connected to the wireless router (which is at the stereo as well).
I currently have a regular PC doing this, but something is wrong with that PC, and before I go out and spend $$ on a new PC, I would like to look into a device made specifically for audio streaming over ethernet.
I have read about some that are available, but as I recall most of them got bad reviews on audio quality.
Something like this?
Ecost has many..
System running xp pro
768 meg ram
sound blaster live 5.1
cambridge dtt2200 5.1 sound system
wm player 9
When playing back mp3 files the volume of the sound will either all of a sudden drop or get louder.
You would think someone was sitting at the computer turning the volume knob. This can be a very random problem (once or twice in an hour)or can happen often throughout a song.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
It happens to me to.... i can't explain it. I think its a ghost Once the volume shot all the way up.
i have recently purchased and installed a new Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Xtreme Music sound card but i noticed before i put it into my computer that the card had plugs on it..one is a AUX plug but the other looks like a connector for a power lead (like the one you connect to a floppy disc drive) does anyone know what this plug is for?
Is THIS it?
Unless there happens to be a front panel attatchment, like the audigy, I'm not aware of any powered SC's, there maybe something to it.
How is it working?
Since you picked the nic:

Please give your threads proper titles. That way members know what to expect.
Then try and explain, what it is you want, so that members can understand better.
I had to Google to find out what you meant.
I formatted today because I was sick of seeing 7 windows OS's and two partitions, so I backed up my most important stuff (music being the highest as it took the longest to collect) and I put the DVD I backed up my music to, and it had so many write errors and gaps in it (you can see it on the disc) and I have ISO Buster, does nothing (false adevertising..?) so I was wondering if there is any phisical way of just getting partial names of all the songs back at LEAST. Please help me on this, I threw my box of unwritten Strathfield DVDs into the wall.
You do know that in order to extract UDF data, you need the paid-for version of IsoBuster?
I'M A SMALL TIME DJ AND I USE A DELL 9300 & 6000 WITH iTUNESTO PLAY MY MUSIC (LAPTOP TO MIXER OUT TO THE SPEAKERS) AND I'M GETTING STATIC THOROUGH THE SPEAKER WHEN MY POWER CORD IS PLUGGED INTO THE LAPTOP AND WHEN I UNHOOK THE POWER CORD IT CLEARS UP, THAT WITH THE 9300. ON THE 6000 IT DOESN'T MATTER IF THE POWER CORD IS HOOKED UP OR NOT, I STILL HAVE BAD STATIC. IS DELL LAPTOP BAD ABOUT THIS OR DO I HAVE SOME OTHER PROBLEM. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATFUL.
when you have a laptop hooked up to a mixer (pluged in to mains power), it will cause the static or buzz because mainly due to the ground issue (laptops are DC converted from AC current - there is no ground to help unwanted electricity off the laptop) and when its running on battery there is no ground to cause any issue..
the 6000 i dont know about (exactly) but maybe check the connection/cable/plug..
oh yeh.. dont forget to check caps lock
With my new PC I have been trying for the first time to burn music tracks onto a blank CD. On the face of it, no problem and the CD does play when played through the PC. However, when I try to play the CD on normal CD players there is no response and the players don't seem to recognise that there is even a CD there. I initially used a normal CD-RW, then a CD-RW specifically for recording music - but still no joy. Copyright is not an issue since the tracks are taken from CDs that I already own. Any suggestions, please?
I'm not positive but you might try closing the session on the cds that you're burning. Have you tried other burned cds in the cd players your testing with before?
OK Well i got my custom pc built just finished it today came out awsome i also heard there is a way to make it so that the lights aka the lighted fans can blink when music plays how do i go about doing this do i need special lights???
As far as I`m aware you`d need to have sound activated pc lights.

does the same thing all over again
i can play video files (ie avi mpeg) and also midi BUT no sound!!!
how to fix this?
this prob is driving me crazy >.<
there was 1 error message:
Cannot connect to audio device or another application is using it
please help me out
and please dont just give 1 solution at a time >.<
things you can do:
-reinstall the soundcard and update the driver
-use system restore to take the OS back to a time when the sounds worked fine, will remove files created since your restore date.
-check to see that you can access the files listed in your playlists
I use Windows Media Player to rip CD's and Winamp to play the songs, how do i put it in an order so it can be played from A-Z, not A-D-S-Z-X-Y-G that kind of crap, I DONT WANT IT IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER!!
I got it now, I pput the numbers I want to play in the front. xD
Piddly problem, I guess, but still a problem. Installed new mobo, re-install Windows (XPPro), licenses from Walmart downloads denied (I know its the cheap way, but I'm on disability, so cheap is a way of life) Got them to re-issue licenses, Windows media Player (10) can't/won't access them. Have all the files, can't play/burn 'em. As everyone knows, trying to get coherent (or any other kind) of assistance from Micrtosoft is like trying to find an honest man.
Any suggestions out there? Thanks
I recently downloaded some music from Walmart.com, but every time I go to play the songs, a message pops up that says "the required security upgrade cannot be validated". I tried updating the service pack for Windows (I have ME) as well as my media player, but nothing seems to work. Can someone please offer me some info on how to fix this? I would really appreciate it!
what happened to winmx
This what you're looking for?
i have an emachines with double layer burning 8.5 gb max capacity dvd+/-rw that all of a sudden will not read burned data/music/blank cds. I can play original program, game, music, dvd's but can no longer read or burn data music help please
I found one possibly related thread: Can't read or write DVD-r, dvd+rw's and cdr's work!
Maybe you need to reinstall mainboard drivers, like the last poster there did?
I have a PC-Chips M848 ALU V2.1 motherboard with an onboard soundcard, C-media CMI9739A 6 channel audio.
I have downloaded the latest driver from the PC chips website, as the one that came on the CD didn't work at all. I also have the AC97 Realtek drivers installed.
My problem is that if I try & play an MP3 or a DVD the sound gets really jumpy or if it's missing part of the track out. It sounds like when there is a thumbprint on a CD & it skips over it.
Now I'm new to this so it might be something simple like it is set up to play through 6 speakers or something & as I only have 2 that is the problem, if it is great but can someone tell me how to do this. If not can someone suggest some other solutions??
I'm running XP Pro.
Onboard audio can use alot of system resources and you will get audio artifacts when there are programs running in the background, system memory is low or you have an under powered processor. Win XP Pro has alot of crap running in the background. What are your other system specs? You may want to think about getting a sound card. Good ones run $20-30.
