X1 Carbon 20FB- CAN NOT install wireless drivers

Q: X1 Carbon 20FB- CAN NOT install wireless drivers

I recently reinstalled my windows 10 system and then can not find my wireless card. In the Device Manager, there is two hardware without drivers. 1) Network controller; 2) PCI simple Communications Controller.I went to the Lenovo support page and find out I need to install Huawei Huawei ME906s Wireless WAN Firmware Updater for Windows 10 and 8.1 - ThinkPad. However, I can not install this. It showed "Error code 10: Find port failed" Did I install a correct version. Or what kind of drivers I need to install for my wireless card. My model is :X1 carbon 20FBSystem: Windows 10 Thank you very much!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I recently got a X1 carbon 4th gen (20FB), and I have been super happy with its performance. However, it seems like whenever I have the laptop closed, the keyboard is leaving a mark on the screen. I sent it to repair, and they changed the screen, but that didn't seem to fix it. I noticed that the body and the lid are not perfectly aligned - one of the corners of the lid seems to be jutting out a little bit with respect to the rest of the body. I've attached picture to show this. I'm not sure if this is a part of the general design of the Carbon.  Can anyone with a X1 carbon 4th gen confirm that this alignment feature is not present in their machine? Thank you ?

Hello all, We've got the same problem here with our x1 Carbon 4th gen (20FB). Lucky, we just purchased 2 but not 2 dozen. Both of them have the same problem which same as Swhitcher. We've called the Lenovo support hotline and ask for the onsite support. The on-site engineer replaced the mother board for us, but after 1 hour, problem occur again. We're going to deploy those computers to the end user very soon.So please, give us the solution as soon as you can, Lenovo! Many Thanks! Willi

Hi, We are having an issue with our X1 Carbon's(20FB). The audio output via an HDMI cable works, we see the Epson speakers in the playback devices. After the user is logged on for a while, the speakers will no longer showup in the playback devices and the auidio will just come through the laptops speakers. After we restart the computer, the audio will again work and play to the speakers. Windows 7 X64 Any help or thoughts on this is greatly appreciated.  Thanks,John

Hi, does anyone know if there is a list of compatible embedded LTE chips that will work on a X1 Carbon 20FB?  The reason why I ask this is bec the current model, EM7455, only operates at some frequencies that some abroad contries do not support and the older models such as the EM7355 support those frequencies.  One being GSM.  I tired to install a EM7355 into my 20FB laptop but the bios isn't allowing it. Thanks!

A:X1 Carbon 20FB Embedded LTE Compatibility

EM7455 is versatile enough and supports a lot of 4G/LTE including LTE-A and 3G bands worldwide. It does not support 2G (GPRS/EDGE) access technology.

Hi, I've got an X1 Carbon 20FB (4th gen), and noticed it doesn't have Lenovo System Update on it, which I've found useful in the past. So I went to the Lenovo downloads site and found System Update, but it doesn't list the 20FB as one of the X1 Carbons it supports - it only goes up to 20BS, 20BT: http://support.lenovo.com/se/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-x-series-laptops/thinkpad-x1-... (See the "Note for ThinkPad X1 Carbon users") Should I avoid downloading System Update then? I've not noticed anything that's not functioning, but I figured it makes sense to keep things up to date from a security and features point of view. Why is it not included by default? Thanks for any advice!

Hello, I have this problem for month now :I close my X1 Carbon lid before going to bed, and in the morning, when I resume it from hibernation, the trackapd and trackpoint are totally unresponsive. Everything else work fine, I just have to wait, sometimes 20/30sec, sometimes a whole minute, to have the trackpad working. This is very frustrating to have a computer resuming so fast from hibernation but being unable to use it. I have the latest BIOS (1.15), latest UltraNav driver (19.0.17.98).Tried several drivers uninstallation/reinstallation, several fresh windows install, problem is still present. Actually on a fresh install of Windows 10 64bit (Anniversary update).

I am running Win7 Enterprise SP1 and have all the lastest Lenovo urgent updates installed and most of the recommended and optional updates installed too. The BSOD have been of the following types:KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (1e) on June 28thMEMORY_MANAGEMENT (1a) on June 30thBAD_POOL_CALLER (c2) on July 6thMEMORY_MANAGEMENT (1a) on July 7thDRIVER_CORRUPTED_EXPOOL (c5) on July 21st At first I thought it was faulty RAM so I ran MemTest (http://hcidesign.com/memtest) for over night for two nights in a row and no issues were detected. Has anyone encouneted this issue and know how to fix it? Any recommnedations from Lenovo? If required I can attached detailed log dmps. Thanks,Ian

I'm setting up a new X1 Carbon with machine type 20FB. It came with a Samsung MZNTY256HDHP SSD. I noted there was a recent SSD firmware update package for this laptop model, so I downloaded and ran the updater. It reported there were no updates. However, after digging a bit deeper, I discovered that the SSD firmware updater for the X1 Carbon 20A7/20A8/etc. DOES have an update for the SSD in this machine. What is going on here? Does this firmware update somehow only apply when the SSD is installed in a 20A7? Or did this particular model of SSD just get missed when Lenovo was putting together the firmware update package for the 20FB?

Hi, trying to get a Windows 7 Install done on a Carbon X1 2016 20FB w/ Samsung950 Pro. Bios 1.14 (latest as of May 2016)Special issue is, I need to get it done in a Legacy mode (BIOS,MFT style). I was able to install Win7 based on a win7 image that got the 950pro drivers and the USB3 drivers infused through NTLITE, and then I build an image with Rufus 2.9 (both UEFI/GPT and UEFI/MFT) worked, with the X1 BIOS was set up to UEFI only with CSM.BUT I need to to run on the BIOS setting 'Legacy' and in MFT style, b'cause the special Win7 installer I need to use does not support anything else. I know, sounds weird, but..... . So- is there a fundamental limitation against booting / installing a Win7 on a Carbon X1 2016 20FB - Samsung950 Pro in Legacy 7 MFT mode?

Hi all, I have the X1 Carbon 2016 (20FB) and it is running Windows 10 Enterprise. I have all the lastest Windows and Lenovo updates. It all works pretty well except when it comes to starting back from sleep mode. I have the laptop configured to go to sleep when I close the lid. However when I reopen the lid, the power button and keyboard lights come on but the display stays off. Opening and closing the several times doesn't help. The only way to get the display to turn on is to quickly press the power button. This puts the laptop to sleep. If I press the power button again the laptop comes back to life and the display works again. Anyone else have this issue? Any possible solutions? Thanks,Ian

Just got my brand new X1 Carbon (4gen 2016/20FB) with the 512 GB PCIe NVMe SSD (THNSN5512GPU7). Was expecting a blazing fast disk, but it felt sluggish something that AS SSD Benchmark confirms (see attachment). According to the specs this drive should offer up to 2400 Mb/s read and 1500 Mb/s write. But I get 1800 MB/s read and abysmal 113 MB/s write. The machine has all the latest updates from Lenovo (incl BIOS) and all the drivers for Windows 10. Anyone else tested their drives? Found a Dell XPS owner with the same drive that complained about the same issue. Turning off windows write cache buffer flushing does help, but that is not a good answer.

Hi, I updated my X1 Carbon 4th gen to 1.17 BIOS, and since then, opening the lid won't wake the computer from hibernation, except when plugged.Bios changelog states Disabled the power button when the computer is in battery mode and the
computer lid is closedbut when I read "power button", I don't think "this is gonna break the behavior of the lid". And of course, no rollback is possible from 1.17, so I'm stuck with a computer wich won't wake from hibernation correctly. I just can advise you all to not upgrade bios, and see what's inside the next version...

Hi: There can be more than one model wlan card HP could have installed in your notebook. Please post the hardware ID for the device you see listed in the device manager as a Network Controller, so I can figure out what model wireless card your notebook came with. To find the hardware ID, click on the Network Controller device in the device manager. Then click on the Details tab at the top of the Network Controller window. Now you will see a Property drop down list, and it will be set to Device Description. Drop down on that list, and select the 2nd item (Hardware ID's). Post the top string of characters that you see in the window.

its lists - NVIDIA Geforce4 Ti/ATI Radeon 8500 or higher
i have an intel graphics card that came with the computer, the latest update of the intel 82845G, does this mean i wont be able to run the game?
do you need an nvidia or an ati graphics card?
thanks

It means you are screwed unless you buy a graphics card. Even then a 2 ghz with 512 of ram is going to have hell dealing with the game.

It is time to think about retiring your machine to internet/email/office only if you want to game.

Mine needs work, I am just waiting for a bigger upgrade than what is now possible. I am near the top.

Hello I m using Windows XP with SP I recently bought a cheap wireless PCI adapter on Ebay It s a Netcore NW which I ve never heard of before It comes with a driver CD with drivers for everything from Windows to Vista but the drivers say they re for a Realtek RTL adapter leading won't Wireless PCI drivers... install detect/cannot adapter me Wireless PCI adapter won't detect/cannot install drivers... to believe that this one I bought is from a company that just rebrands them Anyway to make a long story short after installing the drivers it doesn t do much of anything The adapter shows up as quot Ethernet Controller quot in the device manager Trying to install the drivers through the device manager proves useless and it doesn t detect a valid driver even if I point it right to the directory Every time I reboot it shows a quot new hardware wizard quot for the quot Ethernet Controller quot but it still won t install the drivers I tried downloading the RTL drivers directly from the Realtek site but they re more or less the same ones as on the disc and don t work either This is driving me crazy and I was hoping someone might know what to do but I m not sure Any help is highly appreciated Wireless PCI adapter won't detect/cannot install drivers... nbsp

Hello!

I knew beforehand that I needed drivers for everything, so I backed up the ones I could. I installed XP pro, all fresh.

The ones I couldn't find were related to wireless internet WLAN (which now is basically nowhere to be found on the computer), Ethernet Controller and PCI Simple Communications Controller.

Now the BIG problem is this:

There is no device in the manager for a wireless connection/card. This is very important.. When I try to push FN+F1 to activate it I just get a beep from the laptop.

I have a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo L7310. The website and drivers from it does not help me, seeing as I have no WLAN device to add the driver to.

Thanks, I really need this!

If it was the windows login - which is how you get into "your" user account. - then presumably you know what that is?If the wifi login (to access the router) you simply enter the SSID and the access key (aka incorrect;y referred to as the password) for the router. Providing you didn't change it from the default it was delivered with, it will be on a sticker on the base of the router...Incidentally it's generally wiser to change the access key from the default/delivered one to something else; and make suitable note elsewhere what you changing it to. If it's your home/router no harm to stick a note on the base of the router; and also email it to yourself...

I'm in over my head, as I'm not a techie.

On my Acer TravelMate 2480, I reformatted it and reinstalled Windows XP. There is not wireless icon. I went to the Acer webpage and downloaded the drivers I guessed I might need.

When I try to update drivers on the Acer, and choose my flash drive stick, the computer doesn't see any drivers on the flash drive.

I will probably end up having to pay to have the whole thing redone the right way, but was wondering if anyone might be able to offer some help.

Thanks.

Have you tried the manufacturer site? They usually have drivers. Did it come with a CD? That one should have the drivers.

Hey guys,
I just bought a Dell Inspiron 3537 with 500 gb hard drive capacity, 4 GB RAM, no graphics card and came with UBUNTU as its OS. So I made a clean install of Windows 8.1 pro myself. All the drivers that have been provided by the site installed perfectly, except for the 1705 wireless and bluetooth driver :/ Please help !!It says that the driver isnt for my platform .. wth :@I even tried checking my drivers via Intel and it says that it doesnt recognize my wireless card.

A:Dell Inspiron 3537 , can't install 1705 wireless and bluetooth drivers on Windows 8.1 pro

Dell Wireless 1705 is not an Atheros Card therefore the Intel download centre will say its an unrecognised device. Follow the instructions here and provide the hardware IDs for your wireless card as sometimes the Dell Service Tag gives the wrong drivers:
http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/downloading-drivers-checking-hardware-ids-and-downloading-and-installing-dell-system-drivers-in-the-correct-order/
Does it match:

Hi Support, I would like to change a setting, so that the Sierra Wireless Adapter only connects to 4G networks. In Windows 10, I cannot see anywhere where I can easily set this. I would expect there to be mobile management software where these settings could be changed. I never want to connects to GPRS, and would like my Sierra Wireless mobile card to only connect to 4G or not connect at all. This would prevent the card dropping down to GPRS when the signal is temporarily weak and force it it to try for a 4G connection. I have had similar functionality on prior USB mobile data cards I.e. Vodafone, and hence the expectation that there would be similar settings on the Sierra Wireless. Thank you, George

Hi Everyone, I am trying to deploy Windows 10 to a Lenovo X1 Carbon using Windows Deployment Services (WDS) from a Windows Server 2008 Standard Server. In order to perform a PXE boot my Lenovo requires the use of a ThinkPad USB 3.0 Ethernet Adapter. With the adapter I am able to boot with PXE however I am unable to install Windows 10 (or other operating systems). I am seeing a network device error message. Initially I suspected that this was due to the deployment image not containing drivers for the USB Ethernet adapter. I therefore added the adapters drivers to the deployment image, however unfortunately I am still receiving the same error. If anybody has any suggestions on how to overcome this issue they will be greatly appreciated. Kind Regards, David

Hi, I just cracked open my thinkpad carbon X1 gen 4. The purpose was to try and install a second WiFi card in the slot designed for the 3G/4G card. It was only after I had a look but the X1 carbon does not have miniPCIE slots. It appears to be a smaller form factor fro both the WiFi and the 3G/4G slot. Can anyone tell me what slot type this is? Many thanks

I have a new X1 Carbon. I tried to install Lenovo Service Bridge from the Lenovo site. The installation failed. Since then, every time I boot the machine, I get a windows permission error popup to the effect of: C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Apps\2.0\VDCNTLVL4.MP3\899Q09ZT.WCN\lsb...tion_2d7...Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item. This also occurs whenever I try to re-install, or un-install LSB. I've tried uninstalling via the Windows 10 "Apps & Features" approach, which leads to the error above. I've also tried the "Uninstall or change a program" approach through Control Panel. The control panel approach leads to a popup that says: "You do not have sufficient access to uninstall Lenovo Service Bridge. Please contact your system administrator." I'm running Windows 10, and my user account has admin privileges.

A:X1 Carbon G4 - cant install win7 on NVMe

I have installed Win 7 64-bit on a samsung nvme with great success using the same driver from your link.1. Are you able to locate the driver when you press "search" och "load drivers"? If not, ignore all USB 3.0-ports until Windows 7 are fully installed. According to TP X1 spec pdf, you have one USB 2 and one USB 3.2. What USB-port do you use when connecting your flash drive? (there are both USB 2 and 3-ports on your laptop, be sure that you Only use version 2.0 port when installing Windows 7. As title, trying to deploy Win 7 x64 on X1 Carbon, with new Samsung MZSLW1T0HMLH  SSD which I believe has sm961 Polaris Controller. It appears there are no drivers at all for this SSD other than Generic Window 10, anybody else come across this? I know these SSD are not fully supported on Windows 7 but at our organisation (and many others too I suspect) this OS is still the one of choice. All other drivers are available for W7 on the support site

First off, I have Windows XP.

For example, I have an older video card in my system now because I have to send my better card in for warranty repair.

I had upgraded to Direct x 9 and now I want to go back to 8.1. How do I revert or remove Direct x 9?

Also, what is the best way to install video drivers? I heard awhile back you should boot into safe mode or something?

THanks

A:What's the BEST way to install video drivers , new Direct X,and remove older drivers?

This method works best for me. First off, I use Norton Ghost 2003 to make an image of my Windows drive. When I make this image, I have already installed WinXP SP1 plus all the latest Windows updates I can get. Also, I have already installed useful and necessary programs like Norton Antivirus 2002, ZoneAlarm Firewall, NoAds, Analog X Cookiewall. I make sure that I don't have any videocard drivers installed. As for Direct X, it's the default one installed when you first install WinXP.

Now that I have the image, I go on and try installing new Direct X versions or new videocard drivers. If something goes wrong and messes up my system or I'm not happy with the performance of the new drivers or Direct X, I use Norton Ghost 2003 to restore my image. By restoring the image, I have everything back--WinXP SP1 + all updates, programs I've installed, etc. The process only takes about 4 minutes compared to reinstalling Windows + all the programs manually (3-5 hours).

With the image backed up to that original point, I try alternative drivers or Direct X files until I find a setting I like.

This is the way I test new Detonator drivers and Direct X files. It's fool-proof and makes me more bold in trying out new stuff.

If you need more background on the benefits of Ghost 2003 and its usage, check out this guide at Radified.com:

http://ghost.radified.com/

Hope that helped.

BTW, if you remember the date that you installed Direct X9.0, you might be able to go back to your 8.1 setting by restoring your system to that point using System Restore found under Start Menu and System Accessories.

I am trying to install some widcomm bluetooth drivers but everytime I plug in the usb adapter windows install it's own drivers. I tried manually updating the drivers from device manager but it doesn't allow it.
Is ther a way to stop windows from installing the drivers to begin with?

A:Trying to install widcomm drivers. Getting overrun by windows drivers

First. Do not connect the usb device.

Install the drivers for the device, and only connect the device when either prompted to do so, or after the installation is complete.

I recently tried to install a wireless network at work due to tech guys playing games after being hired. SO i install on PC, it locks up and crashes, causing me 2 days of headaches tracking down and installing/repairing windows. I get it going and the tech guys come and install the wireless cards around office.
Then they get to this PC, and does same thing did with me locks up but doesnt crash for them. Its a custom built PC by the way, they play with it a good hour and a half,
then say that I have to deal with it and suggested I first reinstall windows with the PCI reciever thing in, and then try and track down drivers for the mobo.

Anyone ever had an issue like this?its running XP Pro,

A:Drivers wont install, tech guy says MOBO drivers bad

Can you get it going any way at all - preferably in Safe Mode? If it fires up, hit Fuinction 8 and select the option to disable automatic restart on system failure. That should leave a blue screen error message on for long enough to read it. If you can go all the way to Safe Mode or Safe Mode with Networking, see what the Event Viewer has to say in Control Panel>Administrative Tools.

HiI own a X1 Carbon Gen 2 thinkpad and wonder if it is possible to replace the current keyboard with a X1 Carbon gen 3 keyboard (with proper mouse buttons), or if it will not fit?I have tried to check the manuals and the connectors seems similar although some things, such as the fingerprint reader, seems different. I have no problem "loosing" the adaptive keyboard and fingerprint reader if I can have all the functionality of the keyboard and trackpoint on the new "keyboard" (i.e. the gen 3 frontpanel).

A:X1 Carbon Gen 3 Keyboard on X1 Carbon Gen 2

I am interested in this exact topic as well. Looks like the Gen 3 keyboards lack the adaptive keyboard - that clear stripe on the top that changes. The FRU for these X1 Carbons seem to be the whole keyboard, adaptive part, trackpad and bezel - they go for 150 USD or so. Problem is we don't know if it will work given the model year differences. A nice alternative would be just to replace the trackpoint. They came close with this one, but it is no macbook in terms of tactile feel of the pad. I really am having a hard time with it and it's been about a month.  Lenovo please help!

Hi all.
I'm trying to reinstall Intel MB drivers on my HTPC computer, after a power breakdown at home:
The computer shutdown abruptly of course, and when I reopened it, I noticed that I can't use my USB keyboard or any other USb devices.

By checking Device Manager I saw that all USB devices had the yellow exclamation mark on them. Snapshot:

Tried to reinstall my mb's chipset drivers but it wouldn't install. I get an error when it wants to install USB drivers. Weird stuff:

What would you suggest me to do before I waste two hours of my life to reinstall windows?

HI, I just installed windows 2000 professional onto my computer. Everything works fine except that the resolution is really grainy. On some web sites I cannot even make out what the words are. I found out that when I go into my monitor settings in display properties I am unable to install the drivers for my monitor. Does anybody know a way in which I can get around this.

A:monitor drivers unable to install on fresh windows 2000 install

Are you really referring to the monitor drivers or the Dispay Adapter drivers? The symptoms you describe sound like the latter issue.

Monitor drivers are no big deal to install, and even if you don't, Windows should use compatible plug and play drivers. Still it's a good idea to install them -- but you get them from the Monitor vendor site. You get the Display Adapter drivers from the Display Adaptor vendor's site.

What Display Adapter model do you have? And are they properly installed?

To install a Monitor driver, you download and unzip the .inf file from the Vendor. Then you select "update driver" and browse to the location of the file you unzipped. Once installed your Monitor should be recognized by model number.

I purchased a Toshiba Satellite C50 loaded with windows 8 but want to revert to windows 7.

I have downloaded the necessary drivers and have mounted the .exe files onto a USB pen for installation.

Before I proceed to wipe windows 8 I'd like to know - if I install 7, will my trackpad stop functioning?

If so, how do I install the relevant drivers from the USB pen?

Thanks, John

A:Clean install of windows 7 - how to install drivers from USB memory stick?

99.9% sure that W7 will identify the trackpad and install it. You just run the exe's using file explorer or Start >Run then browse. You may decide to leave the laptop as the W7 install left it but you should check Device Manager to ensure there are no unrecognised devices

Hello everyone this network install boot-up after XP sp3 problem Windows and install Hi! drivers is my first time here Hopefully someone can shed some light on this problem as it has made everything grind to a halt My main computer just died so I figured I'd take my old computer which was never hooked up to the internet in order to always keep it clean as a baby's rear end and use it to run either diagnostics and or data recovery software on my malfunctioning C drive from my dead computer The Hi! Windows XP boot-up problem after sp3 install and network drivers install old computer had XP pro sp on it with a P processor and an Intel board The first obstacle was getting it online Simply plugging in the networking cable did nothing After endless amounts of reading it seems that because they computer was never meant to be online the networking or LAN drivers were never installed After many tries and much confusion I finally had someone find them online for me put the drivers on a thumbdrive and after a few attempts I was able to get this old girl connected But I must say for those who don't really know what they are doing very well the procedure for setting up the network connections was anything but easy The automated system for doing it failed every time No reason way So I finally managed to do it manually somehow To be honest I don't even remember now When you attempt to do something for hours in a row trying every possible solution it's easy to forget specifics Anyway I got hooked into the internet The next step was upgrading to SP which I had already placed on the desktop of the computer years ago That seemed to go well In addition to the LAN drivers I also had a bios update The person who got those for me knows far more than I do so I simply clicked on the exe for the bios update without questioning it which I assume was the latest version made for this old motherboard the Intel D PBZ After it was started it said to wait at least minutes An hour later the screen was still black Something was clearly wrong After more exhaustive trail and error it seems the bios update changed what I guess is called the Boot order I think So I figured out how to get into the bios I'd already been warned to NEVER change anything there without advice from an experienced individual Sure enough the st boot device was set to a floppy drive which the computer doesn't have Not knowing which of the three hard drives the OS was on I simply kept changing the boot order and on the second try Windows booted up All was well Or so I thought I started the long process of putting Firefox on it and making small changes All of this was for no reason other than gearing up for the upcoming data recovery attempt on the dead C drive from my other system I started browsing all of the many programs available for this purpose and R-Studio was decided upon Again all seemed well I had not yet even got the point of downloading the R-Studio recovery software yet when something horrible happened Sorry for taking so long to get to the point but I am always afraid I'll leave something important out which will help you guys advise me At this point I had to restart the computer for some reason Can't remember why After seeming like it was going to restart as usual it was taking to that black screen which asks you if you want to boot up in safe mode safe mode with networking normal mode or the last known good configuration Huh Why on earth did that happen I hoped it was just a minor glitch and it would be resolved after the restart So I selected Start Normally if that's what the terms were and it didn't work it just brought me back to the same black screen asking which mode I wanted to boot up into This time I selected Safe Mode Same thing right back to the black mode selection screen So I tried Normal again and it didn't work of course But I did notice something which might be important During the first few seconds while it was attempting to boot into Windows normally I... Anyone run into this problem?
Existing install of XP - added a Seagate SATA drive - XP comes up and sees the new hardware (Raid controller) - and asks for drivers. I point it to the correct drivers (tried several different versions) - and it seems to start going along ok - and then comes up with the following message:
Cannot Install this Hardware. An error occured during the installation of the device. The system cannot find the file specified.

The strange thing is - is even though the Raid controller is in a state of ... hanging there with an exclamation mark on it in device manager - the system then comes up and sees the actual drive. But if I click on the raid controller in device manager - it says it is not working properly and cannot tell me what drivers are running it.....

Any help would be appreciated!!!

However it is occurring on all my hardware and Mac. IPv6 installs by itself and also creates a IPv6 tunnel on my router which I have tried to disable however it keeps reactivating. My ADSL service also looks compromised but my isp insists that I'm not even though I'm on router number 4 - this has been occurring for 3 months- I'm rebuilding every couple of days and it's driving me crazy!!! A:IDT Audio Drivers Won't Install - Win7x64, clean install

Do you actually have the newer IDT audio chip or an older SigmaTel audio chip. In most cases the newer IDT drivers will not work with the older SigmaTel chips.

If the drivers are Vista compatible and the correct IDT or Sigmatel (32 and/or 64) they should work in Win 7.

When you reinstalled did you install any motherboard chipset drivers? Generally, on a reinstall if the chipset drivers are not installed then some device drivers and especially sound drivers will not install.

Existing Install the excellent Tutorial on Driver Installations at bleepingcomputer I noticed it did not seem to say that uninstalling drivers usually needed to be done before updating them However I read the following quote Install Drivers Over Existing Drivers? today that that seemed to contradict my understanding quot Before installing any new Install Drivers Over Existing Drivers? drivers make sure to go to Add or Remove Programs under the Control Panel and uninstall any previous drivers for your device then reboot Windows and install the new version quot Quoted from The Tweaking XP Guide at must download http www tweakguides com TGTC Install Drivers Over Existing Drivers? html Now I must be missing something because it also seems that most drivers are not listed in Add Remove Programs either I would like to update most of my drivers so I just wanted to get a feeling for what was the general rule of course I will TRY to see what specific update sites say Thanks everyone - yardcat

A:Install Drivers Over Existing Drivers?

Hi Yardcat,

For myself, unless the update specifically says that I need to uninstall the previous driver, I just allow the update to install over it.

I have never had any problems with doing it this way.
Hope that helps.

Hello I am getting ready to do a clean install of windows 7 on my PC. What would I need before I do the clean install and what is the proper order to install drivers. Also where would I get the drivers from? Should I let Windows pick the drivers or get them off my manufactures website?

Here Are My Computer Specs:

A:Doing Clean Install, Order To Install Drivers?

Visit the support page for your motherboard and download the chipset driver and LAN driver. Install those following the install and then run all rounds of Windows updates until no more are offered.

A:Can't install Display Drivers after clean install

Hello Mp5shooter

There are lots of drivers on that Dell Resource CD which you need to install.

See this help from Dell. It tells you which order to install them.
Installing the video driver will probably fix your problem

During the installation process of W7 it is possible to load drivers, e.g. the downloaded SATA, LAN and Graphics drivers for a specific motherboard (MoBo ASUS P7P55D).
However, these files are compressed zip files and Unzipping delivers a set of folders with in each a number of files. Which are the device drivers?
In other words: what is the extension of a device driver? Inf? And how to present it?

No, not during installation. The Windows 7 DVD normally has all drivers on it. When you have completed the install, it will search the internet for drivers and DL if needed. You should be OK.

..and won't install my network card or printer. They all have a question mark beside them in Device Manager.

I recently performed a driver update on this computer using Driver Genius then I had to format and install a new drive on to which I've been trying to install XP

I can't connect to the Net although I have one 1394 connection installed.

Any ideas most welcome. In fact my first born may be available....
Thanks in advance

My mouse keyboard usb dac and virtual dvd drive are all having problems with drivers I can own, install can't let Windows on me won't its install. manually drivers plug my keyboard in wherever I want and use it in the bios but once i get to windows i have a whole two usb ports that my keyboard works in anymore This is the result of a number of failed attempts by windows to find and install generic driver software which I don't actually need Windows can't install drivers on its own, won't let me manually install. because the keyboard works just fine in some ports and before i accidentally let windows try to find the drivers it worked smoothly in the others as well This is the case for all of the listed devices Whenever I ask windows to install driver software it tells me that i have to insert a disc incidentally Windows can't install drivers on its own, won't let me manually install. none of these devices come with discs because windows si supposed to have the drivers by default When I click other options and set it to browse my entire drive for drivers it gives me an error message that says that it found driver software but the selected file could not be found For everything and then whatever it is is unable to work in that port again I tried downloading microsofts intellipoint drivers and that didn't work Windows can't install drivers on its own, won't let me manually install. Please help me fix this so I dont have to re install

A:Windows can't install drivers on its own, won't let me manually install.

It sounds like you're not logged in as the administrator?

If you right click on one of the .exe files and select "run as administrator", does that work.

Hi Zini , have you looked at the website Support for NP-R720E SAMSUNG ,It could be the intel, realtek or atheros wireless card you have , what was the original operating system that was installed when you bought the laptop new ? that information may enable us to determine the original device installed

I do not have the OEM drivers for my internal wireless LAN in my Toshiba Satellite 1400-S151. Windows does not have any compatible drivers on the OS CD and it will not find compatible drivers through Windows Update. Does anyone know where I can find these drivers for OS Win2k Pro? Thanks. -Josh
P.S. The Win2K install was a clean install so there will be no OEM driver installs already existing on my system. Thanks.
