I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, im just wondering if there was any way of getting recovery disks if you have already wiped the hdd? I only formatted the c drive, not the recovery partitions.
I didn't make a recovery disk because I have made a image using a 3rd party image backup program. But when I put the disk in, it doesn't work.
I tried doing a system reset by pushing f12, but not even that works, I get an error message.

I installed Flux when the issue firt started, since then I've uninstalled flux and performed a system recovery to be double certain the laptop software was restored to its pre-problem state.

No luck,so I wanted a diagnosis from you guys, so I can figure out if its something I can fix myself, or if I should hire somebody to do it.

The laptop is only 3 months old, so still under warranty but as I don't have the receipt I don't know if I can claim against the warranty. - tried uploading through the forum but it didn't work

Hi troubled.user,

Try going to safe mode again and see if you are able to get internet access while in safe mode. Assuming you do, try downloading two programs called "HitmanPRO" and "Malwarebytes". Install them both and then first run HitmanPRO then Malwarebytes. Let both programs run and detect any viruses/spywares on your computer and delete them. Hopefully this helps you out.

Hi I'm having trouble fixing a Satellite C -A Laptop which was running Windows The main issue is a 'no bootable disk' bootable issue Toshiba C50-A 'no - disk'. USB Recovery Satellite error message The secondary issue which is Toshiba USB Recovery issue - Satellite C50-A 'no bootable disk'. stopping me solving the first issue is difficulty using the Toshiba USB recovery disk Any suggestions or advice on either of these problems would be much appreciated Troubleshooting this PC so far The laptop has only had months of light use I have no idea what caused the initial issue but it's now giving a 'no bootable disk' error message I'm not at all clear on how these recovery partitions are supposed to work And I'm not familiar with UEFI Secure Boot etc Does this error message mean that the boot partition and the recovery partition both became corrupted simultaneously Or are there some main boot files which might have become corrupt I used a Linux live CD to access the drive read-only and managed to recover data This would suggest to me that CD CPU and RAM are all working okay and the disk is still accessible I'm not sure if this is a correct assumption It looks as if Windows has got itself mangled during some quick hibernate process but I'm not competent enough to troubleshot a Toshiba partition Windows corruption issue from Linux So I reset the BIOS after using the Linux CD and purchased a Toshiba USB Recovery stick Ideally I'd like to just repair Windows if that is all that is broken and leave everything else as it was As a second choice a complete fresh install back to factory settings would be fine However I am having severe problems using the USB stick I have tried all USB ports and I am having the same problem on all of them It is taking hours and hours to load this recovery system It does appear to be working but in geological time I have to leave the PC for about hours after every mouse click before the next action is possible By this I mean it is hours of the little circle before anything happens Then hours again before a mouse cursor appears And hours again before a menu appears then hours again before I click which keyboard language and so on I have recovered netbooks from USB and laptops from CD before but this is a far slower response than I have ever seen before At this rate a normal install would take several weeks I'm not at all clear as to what is going on here I'm not sure if there is simply a fault with the USB stick from Toshiba or if this is indicating that there is a major underlying hardware fault with this PC I would have much preferred to get the recovery files on CD but this was not an option Is it possible to transfer the install files from USB stick to CD using another PC Apologies for asking multiple questions in the same post but I am not clear which question is most relevant to getting the machine functioning again Thanks

Hi there,

My Function Key seems to be on all the time. I have had some problems with it in the past,
but I could easily fix it by going to System setting > Keyboard > turn the standard F1-F12 mode back on.
Only the last few weeks, that solution doesn't work anymore. I recently updated to Windows 10 and I was hoping that the update would fix the problem, but it didn't. I tried all the other options like pressing the Fn key for 10seconds and stuff like that, but all my efforts were in vain.
So are there other solutions to this problem? Did you experience the same and how did you fix it?

I really appreciate any help you can provide,

I cannot believe this is not searchable on this site given it has plenty of mentions on the net.... I certainly cannot find an answer here already so sorry for asking again.

Old Pro M-series had to put new hard drive in, however whilst I can start the Toshiba disks (odd that its XP capable but disks are for 98?) or I can run installation of XP and format the disk when it reboots after first files installed or boots not with an installation disk I get

0201: Failure IDE #0

What do I need to do to the disk to get the laptop to boot from it, odd how it can be seen by the setup program and files written to it.

A:0201: Failure IDE #0 - Satellite Pro M Series

There are two IDE controllers:
IDE 0 -> HDD
IDE 1 -> ODD (optical disk drive)

It looks like something is wrong with the device connected to IDE 0?means HDD.

If possible try to boot the unit using an Ultimate Boot CD to test the HDD, or run Chkdsk c: /r from the recovery console to attempt to recover any bad sectors.
You can also try to boot once again from Win XP disk which contains the Repair option (while setup have to press R to get repair console)

This evening I bumped my computer screen as I rested it down (not too hard, but it slightly slipped from my grip).

The laptop appears to be functioning okay other than an issue with the screen. About 3 quarters of the screen is not working, it is just white background, with colourful streaks, and a large diagonal black line.

Is this likely to be simply a broken screen, that could be solved by replacing the screen itself? I am waiting to order a new screen but I don't want to spend the money if the problem is likely to be something else..

Also I've been told it's relatively easy to replace the screen yourself. I've done minor repairs on laptops/pc's in the past (new keyboard/track pad). I don't have warranty/insurance and can't afford a pro. Is it something I should be able to do myself?

the fan always run even in IDLE when lan power is on
thanks for all help, who can stop fan.....

A:Satellite Pro L series: Fan always run even in IDLE when LAN power is on

Just view questions:
What notebook model do you have exactly?
What system are you using?
What do you mean by LAN power exactly?

I can just tell you that the cooling modules are controlled by fan table stored in the BIOS.
Usually the cooling fan starts to rotate if the CPU would be loaded by some single applications/processes. It could be also possible that your fan rotates continuously with low performance in order to keep the temperature low. This isn?t a real notebook problem.

Are there any power lights at all? If so, can you hear the hard drive spinning?
If the CD drive will not open, open it by inserting a fine probe into the little hole on the fascia: insert your system recovery CD and reboot. If it boots you maybe have a hard drive failure, if nothing then the most likely problem is the power controller.

However, I have been told that I need to remove the initial password. Which I had been told is "BIOS password". To confuse everything, I have also been told it is not a BIOS password. #confused

However, regardless of trying to contact Toshiba non of the U.K. Numbers are working and the email no reply. I had followed the guidance from that website on Toshiba and tried numerous of time all day.

I want this first password removed that comes up, when I switch on my laptop.

I did not put this on my computer it happened with the upgrade. I know the password but I did not install this or remember setting this password.

I know it is very frustrating that only two months old notebook must be send to repair but I?m afraid that is your only option at the moment.

Does anyone know which battery the P300 comes with as standard as it only has a 2.6 hour battery life?
The battery offered in the accessories list is a 9 cell 6000mAH one, and I need to know if this is higher capacity or the same.

A:Re: What battery was delievered with Satellite P300 series

What P300-xxx do you have exactly?

>... it only has a 2.6 hour battery life
Please apologize this comment but 2.6hours are to short for you?
My small u400 runs only 2hours on battery power using just only IE for internet browsing.

However, the battery working time depends on the notebook usage.
You can extend the battery working time decreasing the display brightness and disabling some other devices like HDD or cooling modules.

These settings can be done in Vista Power settings.

Hi All

New to this forum I purchased an old Toshiba Satellite Pro 4300 series laptop recently as a starter machine for my son. The machine is currently connecting to the internet using 3Com Megahertz 10/100 LAN PC Card PCMCIA 3CCFE574BT with dongle connected via speedtouch hub.

Can anyone tell me if there is a wireless PC card that I can use with this machine without having to plug any wires into the hub.

A:Satellite Pro 4300 series - Is there a wireless card available

As far as I know the machine does not support Wlan and has not been equipped with any Wlan cards.
If you want to connect the machine to the WLan router then I would recommend using an USB Wlan stick which would be the easiest solution.

There are different USB Wlan sticks which supports different Wlan standards; 802.11 A B or G? you should choose one which is compatible with your WLan router.

I just would like to know if Toshiba doesn't made the Satellite T110 any more? Because here in spain I don't find it anywhere to buy it.
If it's true that Toshiba don't made it anymore, is there an other toshiba notebook with a size screen between 11" and 12" ? Is just the size that I want.

Kind regards.

A:Satellite T110 Series offer in Spain

Hello Nicolas

T series is pretty old and I can imagine this model will not be offered anymore. If you check Toshiba Europa page or Toshiba Spain page you will see that Toshiba offers second generation of T series. This new model looks much better as old T notebook.

T series notebooks were reworked and now Toshiba offers them in new look, modern design and, I believe, with Win7 as operating system.

Visit Toshiba pages and check these new models.

Hi OliviaITlover Depending on the laptop/computer brand and model you have, you won't have the same lights as others. I've been looking for some information about my computer (which is Toshiba Satellite T135D-S1328RD) but I can't find it anywhere. I've been at the help panel, trying to type it in, but an error occurs.

Tracking my computer series doesn't work neither. T135D- there is no such option in choosing your computer from the list.
So I ask: where can I find it?

Some parameters are on the Internet, of course (for example here: []), but I wish I could get some professional help acording my computer on Toshiba's page.

I may add that my computer is from Japan, but the same - no info about it can be found on Japanese page.
What is wrong with that series?

Obviously this notebook model is designed for Japanese market only so you will not find it on any other Toshiba support page.

Hi out there!

Just wanted to inform you about an enoying but reproduceable BUG:

Toshiba Satellite Pro R50-B Series:

You have to disable the Intel-Management-Interface in Device-Manager otherwise the Notebook won't shutdown completely / Standbymode wont work.

Issue (Bios V1.4 - Intel ME 11.00.1166):

Work longer than 30min. Then try to shut-down. Screen goes blank - but LEDs on the front stay on, fan stays on until battery is completely empty. Or try to go to standby-mode. Same as shutdown.

Just disable Intel ME in Windows Device-Manager an you fine.

Waiting for any news from Toshiba - i m a reseller, so the same problem exists on >10 notebooks here.

Hello everybody,

I have two profiles in my laptop. One usual and one professional. In my professional (which is the one I used the most) every time I log in and I try to access program clicking on the start button (or press the key with the windows symbol) I get a CRITICAL ERROR message and tells me it will be repaired the next time I log in. Which hasn't happened. Also my usual PDF has changed and i can't read any f my documents!
Can somebody please help?
Thank you

My laptop started having trouble with the letter h, it does not work.
Is this easy to fix or do I have to take it in somewhere to be repaired.

I have tried dusting it out.

Following instructions I opened and cleaned the interior electronics after it developed overheating problems that would result in it powering down. Following reassembly the computer will eventually restart but only after failing bootup at leastg two times. At initial startup or boot from hibernation the computer does not appear to reach boot source but emits a series of beeps, first 1 beep, then 3 beeps, another three beeps, and finally 1 beep. These are all about 1 second long and seperated by 1 second. Pressing and holding the start button again sometimes resuls in a full repeat of the above or the computer emits the series of 1single beats, 4 beats, one second long and one second seperation. Eventually pressing and holding he power button will evenually result in hearing the computer attempt to boot from the CD ROM (which is second on the list after the Internal HDD). Any help would be appreciated.

A:Re: Using Expert Recovery Mode in Product Recovery CD for Satellite Pro M70-220

>will I be able to use the "Expert Recovery Mode" of the Recovery CD to reinstall the Win XP Pro (factory pre-installed software) onto my C: partition, whilst not affecting the D, E & F partitions

Yes, this should be possible. Using the Expert Recovery Mode you should get the Ghost window in which you could select the partition where the OS should be installed. In such case only this partition would be formatted.

> will I be able to format the C: partition, using the "Expert Recovery Mode", without formatting the other partitions?

Yes, theoretically this should be possible.

> what is the exact "Expert Recovery Mode" procedure ?
As I mentioned above, this mode allows you to restore the OS on a certain partition and only this partition will be formatted.

> where can I find further info on the "Expert Recovery Mode" procedure ?

I want to update my graphic accelerator driver which is Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family.
On the Intel's website I've found for this accelerator and Win XP OS new driver which has been released 31.3.2009, its version is

Though I can't install it because this driver isn't verified by Toshiba and on Toshiba's website is driver which is one year old (of course I've got this one). So, is some way to install new driver from Intel or can you please this driver verified?

BTW If latest drivers are more than one year old, it doesn't look like good support.

Anyway have you tried the drivers from a newer Toshiba model?

Is there a reason you want to update the driver? i.e. Do the new drivers fix a problem you are seeing?

Hi there,

It then just moves to a blue screen and never actually gets to a recovery page or where I can enter login. If I press start windows normally the same thing happens.

Is there a way I can reset to factory without starting laptop?

Thanks for any help.

What can i do?

I even remove the HDD from the laptop and place it into a desktop to make sure it was completely formatted correctly.
Even had the ram replace.
oh.......hmmmmmm the laptop keep beeping
Any ideas? :suspiciou

The beep codes can tell you a lot. Look elsewhere on this site for Beep Codes

How old is the hard drive?
Could it be over-heating caused by air channels plugged with dust and lint?
How much memory do you have installed?
Did this happen after you upgraded something, or installed new software or a new device?

"Usually" the Acer recovery partition was a hidden partition; inaccessible by the usual means; at least it was some time back. Sometimes called a PQ partition if I remember correctly (at least for Acer laptops a wee while back). It was usually first item on the hard drive too.You seem to suggest that the system was initially Vista; then you took it up to win-7... Possibly in the process of going to win-7 the (Vista) recovery partition was destroyed; or at least overwritten by a win-7 version? This rather olde post has a very helpful response from Johnw - it's the best answer entry too. John's routine and see if you can "see" any evidence of a recovery partition? This is another approach too: this may also explain "your" particular drive partitioning as was and possibly is now: would appear that in some more recent systems the PQ/Recovery partition is now flagged as D: ; and thus if per chance your IT chums got at that D partition on your laptop.. then they erased its contents when they reformatted it...?

A:Satellite C660 stuck in an endless BSOD loop after Win 10 upgrade

Toshiba released an list with all Toshiba models supported for upgrade to Windows 10

Satellite C660 PSC1GA is not listed there and this means that this model isn’t supported for Win 10 and will not get Win 10 drivers.

Nevertheless the Win 10 should run on this unit because it meets the essential hardware requirements.

I guess that the BSOD loop appear due to some drivers which are not fully Win 10 compatible and probably these drivers must be removed before performing the Win 10 update.

To check the compatibility follow this steps:
Right-click the “Get Windows 10 icon” (on the right side of the taskbar) and then click "Check your upgrade status." In the Get Windows 10 app, click the h menu (3 lines) and then click "Check your PC".Now you should see the list of compatibility issues

Also this kind of issue could be fixed by Microsoft update as mentioned in this article:

Try this workaround:
Power up the unit and press F8 button
Now the Advanced boot menu should appear where you could choose between different options.
I would recommend you to try the option ?Last known good configuration?.
If this will not work, try the option: ?Repair my Computer?.
Here choose the first option above.

Of course booting from the Linux live USB flash memory stick would allow you to get the access to the data and to backup the important files.

Hello! So ive had an hp 15-g029wm (generic af, I know) for over three years now, and I'm finally getting hit with an issue. I can turn the device on, but after doing so, it says "Preparing Automatic Repair" and then after a five minute long black screen "Diagnosing your PC" and then "Repairing disk errors. This might take over an hour to complete." And then it kind of chills there forever. Also, I originally had windows 8 when I bought it, and then I was given a free upgrade to Windows 10. I don't know how to enter the bios menu or whatever, and I feel like I've mashed every button to get some sort of reaction out of this beast.Let me know your thoughts

Windows 7 RC 64-bit

Tried to load a 64-bit IPSec vpn client and received a bsd.
Rebooted into safe mode and perform system recovery.
All went well until reboot.
Now system continually returns to System Recovery Options even when I boot to safe mode.

Please help, really don't want to have to do a complete reinstall.

Hi steiner and welcome to sevenforums.

Do you have a backup to restore from? have you tried booting from the win 7 dvd? we could also porbably use some sys specs.

HP laptop would boot to "blue screen" - could not read error quick enough - finally decided to restore to original setup through HP Recover Manager. Made a backup of files and proceeded with reinstall. Everything looked fine - HP software installing, desktop was there, installed video card driver... Installed the video driver, laptop shut down and now stuck in a loop with Recovery Manager. Keeps asking if I want to recreate a factory image. Already done that...stuck in a loop. Help!

So I custom built my computer for gaming. I used Windows7 Pro as an OS. It worked great for 2 weeks but when I was playing Minecraft it froze and I had to reset my computer and now I'm stuck on the Repair Loop. I've tried a lot of things. I really don't wish to reinstall Windows. Helppp! I've also tried chkdsk/r and /f. R worked the first time but when I rebooted again it returned to the loop.

What other things have you tried as you stated? I would recommend test your HDD by using diagnostics tools. From another pc if possible.

Downloading UBCD which is in my signature.Burn the ISO Image to a blank CD using Imgburn (How to burn a ISO Image using Imgburn) burn at lowest speed. With the newly burned cd boot with the cd go to HDD>Diagnostics>The make and model of your hard drive, Seagate, Maxtor, Drive Fitness which is Hitachi, Or Western Digital. Perform a short and long test. Could also be called "Standard" and "Extended" test or also "Comprehensive" test. Seagate HDD diagnostics tools will work on most Hard drives.

If you can not find the right test for your hard drive your OEM computer may have it's own hard drive diagnostics testing tool. Refer to your OEM computer documentation to find out how to access these test. Also try going to the manufacture of your machine to find documentation about it. Also consider going to the manufacture of your hard drive to look to see if they have hard drive diagnostics test. The ideal test or method would include an ISO that could be burned via an image to a cd which would be made bootable.

A:X-Fi Platinum Champion Series issue

I take it you installed a new motherboard. Most motherboards have integrated (on the motherboard) audio. If you are using a separate sound card you need to disable the Integrated audio in the BIOS. It can conflict with the separate sound card and cause many problems.

In regards to a video card with HDMI audio, go to the Control Panel, Hardware and Sound and finally the Sound Panel Playback section and set your sound card as the default playback device.

So recently for the last few months my PC has been running oddly slow and about 4 days ago the PC would not boot up BIOS. The HD seems fine, I took a look at the caps on the Mother board and they look ok, but who really knows since I cant test  for leakage and etc. has anyone else had this issue with the 500 Series. I did roll back win 10 to an early version of win 10 but I think this is more of some part on the main board going bad.

Last week we purchased two different Lenovo Yoga 710 series laptops. Under the "Enter" key, the "page up" key and the "shift" key are reversed from normal keyboard position. Both function properly but are unlike any other keyboard I have seen. As a result, typing is interrupted  as I have to lift my fingers/wrist from the keyboard to reach the right shift key. This appears to be a major quality control defect in this series. Besides interrupting typing speed and causing typing errors, this can lead to potential carpal tunnel issues. I have been told that this is the "remodeled keyboard, " however, this is actually an incorrect placement of these keys. How will this issue be rectified?
