I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

We recently moved to another location in the same city, but when I went to try to print from my Gateway Laptop on the Kodak 7250 printer, it says that the printer is disconnected. I have restarted the computer, turned the printer off waited and then turned it back on and have turned off the router and then turned it back on. In the printer tools section of the printer info, it lists the printer but then says disconnected beside it. I don't know what to do to fix this and I have tried a few things that were listed on the internet such as downloading new firmware for the printer but I don't know how to do that for the Cox Cable Router which was a suggestion.

A:Kodak 7250 won't print from wireless, says printer disconnected,

have you reset the kodak up on the new network - how is the kodak setup - fixed IP or to use DHCP
have a look at the network settings for the printer

and then on a PC post back here an ipconfig /all

ipconfig /all
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post the results in a reply here.
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and paste here.

We would like to see the results from an ipconfig /all - post back the results in a reply here.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD then press Enter to open a command prompt box
(A new dialogue box - black with white font, will appear on screen ):

In the command prompt window that opens, type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

ipconfig /all > network.txt & network.txt

It will export the results into notepad and then automatically open the notepad and display on your screen.

Now all you need to do is copy and paste those results into a reply here
to do that:
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Select all
all the text will now be highlighted
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Copy

Now go back to the forum - goto the reply and then right click in the reply box and paste the results.
The results from the notepad should now appear in the forum reply.

Help getting & installing a compatable driver for new Photosmart 7520.

Need to have 'Print Preview' in Printer Preferences. Newer Photosmart Printers have very few options under Preferences.

Have tried drivers for Office Jet 6100 & Deskjet 69800 as suggested in HP forums. Neither has 'Print Preview' in Printing Preferences.

My previous Photosmart C310 died, bought the 7520 as a replacement. If I remember correctly, when I upgraded to Windows 7 with the older Photosmart C310 I had to download an alternate driver. That printer worked fine for over 2 years with all the preferences. I failed to note the driver that worked with the C310.

Hope someone can help, or I'll return this one to Costco along with the $130.00 worth of ink.

A:Alternate HP print driver with 'Print Preview' for Photosmart 7520

After a week of frustration, I was able to locate an HP Forum with the information that works.
I used the alternate driver that was from my previous Photosmare C310.
Here is the link. Hope this is helpful for someone in the future.

I research genealogy and do a lot of text printing from my own compter files. The 'Print Preview' feature is crucial to how I print. It is next to impossible to find out if a new printer has this feature before buying. Sales people & manufacturer's website are next to usless.

I was printing a large list of flights from, and decided to abort the print job. Now my printer won't accept any print jobs from the computer, although it self-tests ok. Went through the troubleshooter, but it says it can't help me. Even uninstalled and reinstalled the port. New print jobs just sit in the queue for a few minutes then I get a print failed message. Hello. I am a first timer so please bear with me. My daughter bought a Toshiba laptop and when we installed the photosmart 1000 printer it printed a test page but nothing else will print. After much calling and installing updated driver everything seems to be working properly but now the page that comes out is totally blank. Sorry, don't have exact message but mentioned something about a driver so that is why I went to HP and downloaded driver but still does not work. Would really appreciate help. Thanks in advance for any help!

A:photosmart 1000 will not print

Is the software telling you it's printing when you get a blank page? if so you probably have a bad ink cartridge.

Cannot print black ink on my HP Photosmart C7280.
Issue with two mac laptops one running OS 10.9.1 & the other OS 10.6.8.
Tried several solutions to no avail. Can print colors.
Printer was unused for 9 months, as it is every year, but worked perfectly before that. Since last year I have used aftermarket ink but not refills.
What Iíve tried so far.
Although printer shows all cartridges had ink Replaced black (twice) & all color
Cleaned printhead
Reset printer using *,# 123 etc
Unplugged, waited 1 minute and re-plugged printer.
Used paperclip to clean out feeder tubes.
Soaked black cartridge in hot water/alcohol mix -dried and reinserted.
Aligned printer.
Any solutions we have not tried?

A:HP Photosmart C7280 won't print black

Inkjets shouldn't be left unused for long periods, the print head is likely clogged with dried ink and probably not recoverable. Using aftermarket ink probably hasn't helped either. You can order a new print head if available from HP or a third party parts site or replace the printer.

Okay, lets see, about two weeks ago....we had one generic (black) ink in our printer plus our rather HP inks.

It said "INK FAILURE" (about black I think) so I took that cartridge out and put a new HP one in.

I thought that would solve the problem. WRONG!

It proceeded to still give a "INK FAILURE" message and would not print.

CURRENTLY, it will fax things (??!!) but will not print.

My husband reset it from scratch. Still will NOT work.

Any clue why? Any idea how to fix it?

All right--we need a high techie. If you have any ideas, would love to hear!

A:HP Photosmart 3310 INK FAILURE will not print

Does it have an error code? What is the exact wording? Ink system failure? Or ink failure? The "NEW" HP cartridge is brand new, or have you had it sitting around for some time? Is there an expiration date on the box?

Just out of the box, installed HP photrosmart 6510 using XP on an HP PC. when I went to align ink cartridges got a failure message. when I test printed some docs and photos it worked fine just once after that could not print any ordinary doc, no ink or just very faded..
Cleaned print heads several times - the test sheet came out OK but still can't print black, color photos come out but very pale.
what to do?

Hey all. I have a HP Photosmart 309g, that has been working well for a number of years. It sees periodic use, but not much. I have a W7 64-bit Ult. SP1 machine, fully up to date.

Yesterday, I tried to print a doc, which is black ink on white paper. The printer went through it's motions, sounded like it was printing, but spat out a blank page. I know printers don't last forever, but was wondering if anyone had any suggestions before I run out and buy a new one.

I have:

Aligned the printheads
Cleaned the printheads
Tried using a different computer (Vista, where it used to work as well), but have the same result
Printed a test page - there was color, but no black ink at all
Checked ink levels, which are fine

Anything else I can look into? Thanks in advance.

A:Solved: HP Photosmart c5180, can print but not scan (windows 7)

Did you install the full software package? Many, if not most, all-in-one devices can use the Windows built-in printer driver but require the manufacturer's driver be installed to access other functions. Also check your documentation if you're trying to scan over the network-I have a couple of all-in-one devices that support network printing but will only scan via a directly connected PC. (Note that the directly connected PC is networked so I can scan, from it, to any network drive. I've never seen that as an issue since you need to be at the 'printer' anyway to put the document to be scanned into it. I just go ahead & scan it while I'm standing there anyway.)

Whenever I print to the shared printer on my Windows 7 desktop, the print job will just sit in the print queue. If I stop and then start the print spooler, the job will print. It happens from an XP laptop. Print jobs sent from the local Windows 7 computer print just fine.
How can i solve this one ? :(

This issue with some particular laptop running windows Xp and windows 7 Home

A:Whenever I print to the shared printer he print job will just sit in the print queue

So, the Windows 7 Desktop has the printer physically attached to it and it's shared?
And the XP laptop is sharing the printer through the network? If I understand you correctly?
If so, on the XP Laptop, go to Start/Run and type devmgmt.msc and press enter. Are there any devices with yellow flags? Or Under Universal Serial Bus Controllers is there an Unknown Device? Or any listings for the printer? If so, right click it and Uninstall it. Now go to Start/Run and type appwiz.cpl and press enter. In the Add Remove Programs uninstall any drivers or software for the printer. Now,go to Printers and Faxes, and if the printer icons is there, Right click the shared printer icon and Delete it. And Restart the computer. Now when the computer comes back up, go to the printer manufacturers support/download drivers site and type in the model# for the printer and download the driver for the printer for XP and install it. Now, go to Start/Run and type the computer name of the Windows 7 machine (ex) \\ComputerName and press enter. A window should open up with the shared drives on the 7 computer, with the shared printer. Right click the shared printer and choose Connect. This will add the printer to Printers and Faxes again. Right click this printer/Properties and print a Test Page.

Whenever I want to print something from the internet my computer puts it into a file under "my documents". If I don't save it it will not print. This just started happening. How can I go back to just printing something?????
I recently downloaded some photos, what can I undo??

A:Computer is downloading everything I want to print

Look in the print dialog of your browser and see if it has the option "Print to File" enabled. If it does, uncheck the option.

Also, if you are using Vista, or XP with Office 2003/2007, you will have one or all of the following printers (software engines) in addition to your hardware:
1) MS Office Document Image Writer
2) MS XPS Document Writer
3) Sent to OneNote 2007
4) Adobe PDF (if Acrobat or MS Office Save to PDF is installed)
5) Fax

Your hardware should have a green tick next to it to denote that it is the default printer.

If it does not, go to "Printers and Faxes" in Control Panel, right click your hardware, and select "Set as default printer".

Let us know how it goes.

My computer will not print at all. Every time I try, from any application, the print job automatically deletes itself.

All suggestions will be considered

OS: Windows XP SP2
PRINTER: HP DeskJet 3420 (USB)
ANTIVIRUS: Symantec Client Security
FIREWALL: ZoneAlarm Pro, SpywareBlaster

I did recently install Blackshift (

I re-installed the driver, but I am unsure if this is a hw/sw problem.

I can attach a HijackThis! file if you think it would help.

I have MYOB v.9. Have used it for years, no problems. Got a new computer, running Windows 7. Now MYOB won't print either Invoices or Statements. I print virtually from MYOB to Nuance's PaperPort. I tried printing both to PaperPort (got a blank) and to HP Officejet where I also got a blank page. Word documents print fine on the HP printer.

I have a new computer. It's a Gateway DX4860 running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. My printer is an HP Deskjet F4480. I have it hooked up to my computer via a USB cable.

I can't print from any program. I've tried Word 2010, ie9, Mozilla Firefox and notepad. When I open the queue, there is nothing there. I've also tried to print a test page with no success. I have downloaded and installed the most recent drivers from the HP web site with no success. When I run the fix it utility provided by microsoft, it does not find any problems. The printer is selected as the primary. What have I missed?

A:How do I print my computer screen.

Windows 7 has the snipping tool that allows you to take a snapshot of whichever part of the screen you want. You can save the image and then print that off. You can also use the Ctrl + PrtScn buttons together to take a snapshot of the screen and paste it into a document to print off.

The operating system is Windows 98. This printer was working fine but now when the computer and printer are turned on in the morning the first print job (whether an e-mail, Word doc, etc.) will not print. It shows under the print queue with nothing listed in the status column. When you restart the computer you get the message about the document in the print queue -- print it? cancel it? etc. After you print this document you can then print for the rest of the day with no more problems. Any idea what I can do so that I don't have to restart the computer every morning to enable the print function?

A:[SOLVED] Computer freezes when print

How are you connecting to the printer? Wirelessly? Or USB? If by USB are you plugging the USB cable into the Back USB port of the computer and not the Front or through a Hub? As these ports are weaker.
Go to Start/Search and type appwiz.cpl and press enter. In the Add Remove Programs uninstall any HP printer software. Unplug the USB cable from the computer end and restart the computer. Download the latest driver for your printer and install it Software & driver downloads HP Officejet 6500 Wireless All-in-One Printer - E709n | HP? Support during the driver install it will ask if you are setting this up for USB or Wireless, during the install, it will tell you when to plug in the USB cable in. Plug it into the Back USB Port.
If you still have problems, go to Start/Search and type services.msc and press enter. Scroll down to Print Spooler. Double click this. Make sure the Startup type is set to Automatic and the service is Started.

Both computers are XP. Computer 2 used to be able to print through network. After installing McAfee, he uninstalled the printer by mistake. Since then, we have uninstalled McAfee and gone back to free AVG . Now we can't get it connected to the network printer. When we go into printers, there is no printer installed, and we can't find it when we try to find a network printer/browse. All that shows up is to chose from is Microsoft Windows Network. No printer. Then when we type the name of the server computer and the name of the server printer, it says no again. Can anyone help us.

A:Computer can't print through network printer

Check the system with the printer installed and see if it's still shared properly. Does the printer show up in Network Places for the computer that it's connected to? That will indicate whether it's shared or not.

Can you ping by computer name both ways between the computers? Did you use the McAfee Removal Tool to totally remove any traces of it?
Let's see this for each of the computers.
Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD then press Enter to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following commands, one at a time, followed by the Enter key:

Note that there is a space before the -n or the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the - or / in the following commands.

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter to copy the contents to the clipboard.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

This started happening since yesterday.
I plugged the cord from the printer into my laptop.
And at the same time, an icon in 'Devices and Printers' called PC Camera popped up, instead of my printer's icon becoming solid. I dont know what the heck is happening. After selecting print, the print job does not make it to the printer, please advice.
Thanks, Allan

A:Computer sending print job to printer

Does the printer show up in 'Devices and printers' when you click on 'Start - Devices and printers' ?
If it doesn't show up check the connections to the printer - power, USB and/or wi-fi.
Very often, whether it shows up or not, a good starting point is to completely uninstall the printer software and re-install it, paying particular attention to the connection and installation sequence given in the printer's 'Quick start' guide. And re-boot between the uninstall and the re-installation. If you no longer have this guide you can download it from the manufacturer's web-site. Believe it or not, the sequence matters with printers !
This is very generic advice !  For the future when posting a problem like this it is a considerable help if you give the make and model of your computer and the same information for the printer.

A:Network print queue through local computer

So what you are saying is...

You have a Netware server with Q-based printing.
You had a Windows 9X box with a local printer attached to it.
The computer probably had printer sharing enabled on it and a static IP address.

I would think that if you setup file and printer sharing exactly the same way as the old box, everything should work for the Queue. Make the computer the same name as the old one and set the same ip address it had on it. Although you may not have to setup the static IP address. It has been way to long since I played with q-based printing. Probably 6 years.

Look at the print queue and see where it is pointing to.

Hello I am working on one of our business's many networked computers that will suddenly be unable to print anything until a reboot It is running Windows and is up to date It will be going along fine then suddenly the jobs just get lost You will see the print job appear on the local queue and then leave but you never see the job appear on the printer in the server Once the issue starts it will not print to any installed printers of varying makes and model until unable Randomly print Reboot to Computer but everyone else in the building can print to them just fine including the server so it is not an issue of the printer dropping offline Additionally we cannot even 'print' to an Adobe PDF Printer it will ask where you want to save the PDF - act like its going through the motions but the file will never appear regardless of Computer Randomly unable to print until Reboot where you save Restarting the print spooler does no good As soon as the machine is rebooted Computer Randomly unable to print until Reboot the PDF printer can successfully save new files and all installed printers will Computer Randomly unable to print until Reboot print from there on out - no previous jobs that were sent to the printers will ever print They just disappear Kyle

Uninstall the printer as per your manual, then use both of these. Then reinstall the printer.Run both of these, in this order.Run Wise Disk Cleaner ( Run the 1st three tabs, left to right. I use default settings, leave boxes that are unchecked, unchecked ) Reboot when finished. Wise Registry Cleaner ( Only use Registry Cleaner & with default settings. Don't use System Tuneup, that is for Experts, you really have to know what you are doing ) Reboot when finished.

I am running Windows Vista, Dell Computer Inspiron 518, 2.33 ghz and a Brother 1440 HL laser printer. The printer is connected to the hard drive via a USB port and the printer is plugged into a separate electrical outlet than the hard drive and monitor. My printer remains off unless I want to send something to be printed. Once I send something to print, the entire system shuts off and comes back on and has to reboot. Once the printer is on, it will print and this will not happen until it shuts off again. Any assistance is appreciated.

my computer is running Windows 7 Professional.

I have added and installed a shared printer to this computer. The printer is connected to an other computer that is running Windows XP, and the printer is shared.

Everything seems ok. The installation completed without difficulties.
When I am trying to print a test-page, the document shows up in the printer queue for about 30 seconds, saying that the document is being sent to the printer, then it disappears.
Still after 10 minutes nothing has been printed. Nothing happens.

I was almost certain that the problem was the firewall, but I turned off the firewall on both computers and it still doesn't work.

Last year I tried this out with two computers both running XP, and it worked out perfectly.

Does anybody know a solution to this problem?

A:Can't print through local network to printer attached to XP computer.

Hi again,

I found a solution to the problem myself :-)

It turned out to be a double issue.
One of the problems WAS the firewall. I did in the beginning of my troubleshooting try to turn off the firewall, and it didn't work. But that was because there was an other problem as well. I didn't think it was a double problem at that point. So I assumed the firewall wasn't the problem.
I then realised there was only a one way connection between the computers, since the Win 7 pc could access to the XP computer, but the XP computer couldn't get access to the Win 7 computer. I figured out that it was the firewall that caused this issue. Now I could send printing jobs to the queue on the XP computer, but it disappeared from the queue after some seconds and the printer didn't print anything.
The windows troubleshooting on the Win 7 computer couldn't find any problems with the printer connection. Then I downloaded HP's own troubleshooting application from the internet, and it found that it was a driver issue.
Then I did some googling and found a patch for many HP printers for Win 7 x64 (Deskjet 710/720/810/820/1000 Series printers - Patch for 64 ... - HP Support Forum). After applying this patch everything works like a charm.

To summerize:
The firewall was one problem.
And the other problem was that the printer drivers from Windows Update didn't work on Windows 7 x64 (it shouldn't be a problem with the 32 bit version of windows 7).

I have just installed Windows 7 32 bit on a computer with is hosting a HP Laserjet 1600 printer to which I would like to print to from my laptop running Windows 64 bit. I have added the network printer from the host machine but it won't print. Both systems File and Printer sharing is turned on in the advance sharing settings for both computers and I can share files OK. I have also allow Print permissions in the Security tab under the networked printer properties. However the spooled document print when I restart the Host computer??? Any help would be appreciated.

checking your power settings ... If you are running on desktop and that is where the printer is located. make sure your power settings say "High Performance"

That should stop the hard drive from shutting down...

also go to device manager and right click to properties -->> Power Management >> uncheck "allow the computer to torn off this device to save power..

reboot the computer and see if that works for you

A:Use my laptop to print from a printer attached to a networked computer?

Here is a wizard way to set up file and printer sharing.

Run the Network Setup wizard (found in Control Panel of XP). Tell it each of your computers connects to the internet via "residential gateway" and that you want to enable file and printer sharing. Create a disk at the end only if you have a Windows PC other than XP or 2k Pro.

Windows XP firewall (if SP2) will be properly configured by the wizard. You must uninstall or properly configure any 3rd party firewalls on each machine. Unique computer names and same workgroup, of course.

The Shared Documents folder is automatically shared. Any other folders (or drives) or printers you want to share, just right click on them and sharing ... . When sharing a printer, accept the offer to load other drivers if your other PCs have different Operating System(s).

When you first go into My Network Places there will be nothing there. The first time you click on 'View Workgroup computers' will probably result in great disappointment. It takes awhile (20 minutes or so) before all the computers in the workgroup get up-to-date and accurate lists of the other computers. Often you can speed up this process via Search for other computers.

When computers show up in My Network Places, double click on one to see its shares. If that includes a printer, you can right click on the printer to connect to it.

Hello to all It has been a while since this problem first occurred Now it has become unbearable When I try to print use print preview or enter page setup Microsoft Word freezes The same thing also happens with other Office programs like Microsoft Excel I am not sure if there is a problem with my printer driver the printer is an HP L n by the way as setup enter 2003 print to freezes or trying Office page use preview print, when I have reinstalled it many times AND I have no problem using it as a network printer and can print the same word documents FINE from laptops or other desktop computers in the house Thus I know that the documents aren t corrupted I can also print pdf documents fine from this computer I think this problem started when my laser printer driver disappeared and when I tried to reinstall it I got a spool-related error I reinstalled the spool driver and then when I tried to print a doc file I was unable to do so The problem may most likely be linked to Office itself but I have tried options like deleting the data key and renaming the Office 2003 freezes when trying to print, use print preview or enter page setup normal dot template all which have failed to alleviate the problem I think that is all the information I can offer to assist anyone trying to help me with this matter and I hope that the problem can be fixed without me having to reformat or something like that Thank you in advance P S Not sure if this will also come in handy but my OS is Windows XP Professional SP nbsp

A:Office 2003 freezes when trying to print, use print preview or enter page setup

In Office, On the Help menu there is a 'detect and repair' option. It wouldn't hurt to run that. This could also be a sign that the hard drive is going bad (loosing stuff here and there)...

I have an HP C5280 printer running wirelessly via a TP Link wireless print server and D Link Di 624 wireless router. I can print successfully from either my desktop (which is connected direct to the D Link router) or either of my laptops (wireless). However, when I select the double-sided print option I get a print error message after re-inserting the odd number pages to print the other side of the paper and then click 'continue'.

Could I resolve this by connecting the printer both direct to the desktop using USB AND leaving it connected via the wireless TP Link print server? This would enable me to print double-sided from my desktop (as I did before when the printer was only connected via the USB desktop port).
