I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

hello, my computer had a Windows update today, and now the touchscreen (which was fully functional before the update) is not working.  it is not the screen, as this happened once before to me and I did a system restore to fix it.  I tried a system restor this time, didn't work.  I looked in the Device Manager, and there IS NO DRIVER for my touchscreen.  how do I reinstall, it is NOT listed in the driver list on the HP website for my product.  help! Ivan

Help my left hinge is broken like so many others and I'm out of warranty! I just spent 2 hours on the phone with HP only to discover I will be charged $220!! It's clearly a design error since it's happened to literally hundreds of others with this computer! There needs to be a recall it's not fair to have to pay for something that I've never dropped, etc. I've also read where some have gotten theirs repaired free of charge without being covered under warranty

Hi, I've recently formatted my Laptop HP Envy m7-n101dx (touch) and installed Win7  Ultimate (64 bit).  I have downloaded all drivers available on HP website and installed on my laptop.  There is only one unknown device left (acpi\msft010), and I'm unable to to find the correct driver.  My problem is I'm unable to use the touch screen of the laptop, I've googling and found that is there must be a problem with with the Human Interface Device, but when I've checked the Device Manager no Human Interface Device is on the list.  Please could anyone help me out.  Thanks in advance

Hello @JeffJadoo, Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! The Forums are a great place where you can find solutions for your issues, with help from the community! I understand that you are having an issue with the Touch Screen, and wanted to assist you! Did the notebook originally ship with Windows 10?  How did you go about formatting the notebook, and installing Windows 7?  You may be able to use the Recovery Manager to restore the drivers, however, based on how you installed Windows, the Recovery Partition may already be removed.  You can also try reviewing the following document, to see if the information helps: HP Notebook PCs - Touch Screen Issues (Windows 8) Please post back with the results.  It is possible that the Touch Screen may not be supported for Windows 7 on that particular notebook. Please let me know if this information helps you resolve the issue by marking this post as "Accept as Solution", this will help others easily find the information they may be looking for.  Also, clicking the Thumbs up below is a great way to say thanks! Have a great day!

If anyone is thinking of buying an HP Envy all in one touch screen computer then DON'T do it I bought one less than months ago The touchscreen failed and rendered the whole computer inoperable It took several hours on the phone to get them to agree to take it in for repair After three weeks they claimed to have repaired it and sent it back They changed all the settings and locked them so I could not put the settings back to how they were I don't like one all Envy touch HP screen in working on a black screen with white writing It took another couple of hours on the phone to get them to fix it Now less than two months later the exact same problem with the touchscreen has arisen again It has taken two days to get them to agree to take it back in for repair They cannot collect it until next Thursday It will take another two weeks after that before it's repaired and returned to me I am really really disappointed with this machine and warranty service especially so as it was very expensive

So these are two pictures of my laptop and Im not sure what the problem is. Up until two days ago my laptop was fine and now it looks like this anytime I open it and then close it. I'm scared to even move it from my desk but I kind of need to seeing as I'm in college full time. Is there a way that this can be fixed or does anyone know why this is happening. I take great care of my laptop seeing as my entire life is on them for college and work. I need a remedy if there is one and fast because I have classes to get to and need my laptop. Any advise would be appreciated or if HP would like to fix it I would be happy about that too.

After a windows auto update my touchscreen no longer responds. I think it is a driver issue. My windows is INSISTING that the best driver is this generic driver from 2006. The display also shows up in the wrong place in the device manager. It's not in the HID list. I'm also having issues with the wireless since an update. It, for lack of a better term, stutters. Other devices will connect just fine and stay connected. But this laptop will drop the connection or simply not 'see' the network. Any help is appreciated.

Hi, I have bought HP Envy Notebook 17T recently in US. But from start Touch was not working and I thought that this laptop doesnt support Touch. But after reading several post I found that this laptop supports Touch, but somehow the drivers are missing and I am not able to find the drivers for this Touch screen. In Device Manager, under "Human Interface Devices", I could only find "HID-complaint wireless radio controls" and "HP Wireless Button Driver". I didn't find any other options to enable touch in my Laptop. Hello all, I have HP ENVY 15T AE000 CTO (Touch) laptop. Mine is working just fine but since its now out of warranty period I was thinking of upgrading the display on the laptop. Currently I have 1366x768 resolution display. I want to upgrade it to the 1920x1080 (FHD) display. I have referred the manual for my laptop and found that the part number for the display 812690-001 for the FHD screen.I checked on the hp parts website but this one costs almost $500. Is there any alternative for this? and most importantly can I do it? I have replaced parts on the laptop before so getting this done with the instructions won't be an issue. The issue is the price of the parts. Is there any other cheaper option for 1920x1080p matte display?I would really appreciate some help.

Bought a brand new Envy last Thursday, touchscreen did not work.  Called support and they remotely worked on it for a few hours ultimately having to restore to factory settings, still did not work.  Exchanged laptop at store yesterday and the touchscreen on this one does not work either.   Per the sales person at the store the touchscreen should work with computer in laptop or tablet mode, is this correct? Is there a known issue with these that I should choose another model?   Is there something that has to be enabled?  I have checked the drivers and all is newest version and enabled. Thanks for any help.

Hello, I bought an HP Envy 15-J170us laptop which now has a cracked touch screen. I don't know how it got cracked, I put it in my padded PC backpack and set it in the back of my car, with nothing on top of it, and when I opened it up it had several cracks in the display radiating from one of the microphone holes (at least I assume it those are microphone holes) in the top of the glass. If this could be covered by my warranty it would be great, but if not, I need to know how I can get the touch screen replaced. Thanks, Mathew Pierce

If you purchased accidental damage protection plan, then this would be covered as a part of this plan. This is not covered as a part of standard warranty. You can go to Manuals section and download the Maintenance and Service Guide which has the part number and the procedure to replace the screen: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Home.jsp?prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=5354982

I have the exact same problem described on many discussion boards.   Envy 17  - the corner of the case is spreading apart. Closed, I can press it back together, but when opened the corner pops open again.  It seems to get worse every time it's opened. Note also, the hinge on that side (left) looks like it is sitting lower than the right when open.I've read TONS of this complaint on the Internet. Is it true that these hinges are GLUED in place? Has this been officially recognized as a design flaw by HP yet? Has there been a warranty extension issued? This seems to be a very widespread problem. Thanks!

It seems from the forum posts that there are many many people with the same issue, and no solution to the problem!  When will HP take responsibility for this issue and provide a solution? The issue is the "Touchsmart" screen is no longer responding to touch!!!  What's the point of a touch screen laptop if it does not respond to touch!!!! I have been through all the proposed solutions ... device manager... etc. etc... but still nothing... Under System: Pen and Touch it says: It says no pen or touch input is available for this display Please can HP help its customers resolve this issue?

A:HP Envy - Touchsmart Touch Screen Not Working - Windows 10

Hello @HP-Envy, Welcome back to the HP Forums! I came across your post and want to help you restore the functionality of the touchscreen on your HP ENVY TouchSmart m7-j120dx. This seems to be a driver related issue, but could be related to something else as well. To being, please perform a hard reset. Next, I recommend restoring the BIOS so the notebook will research the hardware that it has installed. HP Notebook PCs - Restoring the BIOS Once the BIOS restoration is complete follow the steps in this touchscreen troubleshooting document, I know you have completed most of the steps from it but doing it after the BIOS restoration is key. HP Notebook PCs - Touch Screen Issues (Windows 10)(If component tests is not an option in step four of that document, use the testing for hardware failures document) HP Notebook PCs - Testing for Hardware Failures (Windows 10, 8) I look forward to your reply with the results!

My ENVY 23 Touch screen dioeds not start. I tried all the suggested steps that I could find... As we have two power cords exactly the same wattage, that has been tried as well... Ther light at the back comes on when the power cord is plugged in, but the start button coes not work. Unplugging and holding the start button down for 10 seconds and re starting does not work.Restartting with F10 key down does not work. Nothing seems to do the trick. It happenerd once before and I was able to restart it with a hard start (holding the power button down for 5-10 seconds with power cord off) and restarting. It did work about three weeks ago. Now it does not. Any suggestions?

The touchscreen stopped working suddenly. At first i though it was like a normal failure and that will get fixed by turning the pc of or restarting so I did not pay attention to it until now that I had restart my pc multiple times. Currently running win10. I started to believe it was because of an update a few days ago since it was when the problem started. I have checked for the HID-compliant Touch Screen driver.

The laptop: HP Envy TouchSmart 15 Notebook PC (15-j173cl)Windows 8.1 Pro The problem: I use an external monitor, so my laptop is usually shut.  Randomly, my touch screen THINKS something is touching it, which disrupts whatever I'm doing.  I would like to disable the touch screen completely, as I do not use it at all. I thought maybe the latch wasn't closing properly, but the screen resolution changes when I shut the laptop, so it KNOWS it's closed and switches to the proper resolution for my external monitor, but it DOES NOT disactivate the touch screen, and some dirt or something is touching it, changing where my mouse is pointed, where I am typing, etc. I have tried cleaning the screen and keyboard with compressed air. The problem happens randomly; sometimes when I CAD for the day, sometimes after hours of working.

My ENVY m6-AQ003 x360 touch screen function clicks itself. It clicks really fast in a straight vertical line. I havn't used it in a couple days so when I turned it on and it started clicking my first thought was the mouse was acting up or the touch pad. so I unplugged the mouse and restarted the computer. It continued to do it after the restart so I tried to turn off the touchpad. But the screen kept clicking before I could. Although it has stopped after i played around with it. It seems to keep doing it from time to time a few clicks. I know it is the touch screen function after I realized that the touch screen makes circles where you click and the mouse and touch pad don't. I hope there is a quick fix so I dont' have this problem when I travel in a few days.

My laptop hasn't stayed on for couple of days now. Whenever I turn it on it will in a page that says automatic repair then turns off. Then I attempted to turn it on again it won't turn on. I tried the hard reset but didn't do anything to the laptop. This laptop is just 1year and 3 months old. It would be a complete waste of money if I couldn't use it anymore. I need help please!

I am not sure which OS is on this unit so I am assuming it's windows 8. I want to load a linux disc to attempt a data recovery but I don't know how to enable the legacy boot option to boot from USB optical drive? The down arrow will stop at Network Adapter in the UEFI Boot Order. I have attached a screenshot of the BIOS, help please?

Just enable Legacy Support and disable Secure Boot. If disabling Secure Boot gives you access to Clear All Secure Boot Keys, you may need to do that too.

Asus n56vz laptop
win8.1
64bit

After updating to win8.1 from win7 there is a slight delay from when I attempt to use the touchpad to move the mouse there seems to be a slight delay. I have changed the pointer settings already regarding an inherent delay of mouse movement when the keyboard is accessed. I have restarted my PC just incase the change need a fresh start.

I have also check the drivers for any needed updates using WinKey + x and then right clicking on the options and checking for any updates. No luck. Though I could have just missed something.

It can be from a .05 delay of action to a 4 or 5 second delay of action. It acts as if the touch input was never there, not like it is a tracer of any kind, if that makes sense.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hey guys I m having some wacky touch pad issues and I was wondering if any one knows what might be wrong I am by no means a technology expert but I do expect it to be some sort of hardware issue About a week ago regular use of my touch pad was starting to act up I couldn t scroll or make use of tapping left clicking or right clicking When on the desktop tapping or left clicking would bring up the actions panel where I clicked as if I tried right clicking but I still couldn t right click Regardless I would still be able to move the mouse icon around When I plugged in my wireless mouse I could use the touchpad somewhat normally - Touch pad issues I Touch pad issues could move it and tap left click but still couldn t scroll or right click And just Touch pad issues this morning I find out that I can t use the mouse pad - at all None of it will work I can t even move the icon around on my screen Touch pad issues I am relying entirely on my wireless mouse and the portability of my laptop is essentially gone entirely which is a high inconvenience given my reliability on it to take notes in class Would any one know what s going on Or should I have it checked out by a professional If the latter does any one have any suggestions on whom to call for support Thank you for any help you might be able to provide ETA Also I am using an Acer Aspire on Windows If you need any more information just let me know and I will provide it nbsp

A:Y70 Touch Bluetooth Issues

hi J,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

Can you please try the following:
1. Create a system restore point (for backup purposes).
2. Uninstall the Bluetooth Driver.and reboot the system.. After the reboot, the bluetooth device should now look like this in the Device Manager

3. Download and run the Bluetooth Driver installer
     - this will identify the type of Bluetooth Device installed on the system (eg. Qualcom Atheros, Intel, etc.) and it will install a generic Bluetooth driver. If successful, try pairing the bluetooth keyboard and observe.

If everything goes well, try installing the official bluetooth drivers by navigating to the D:\Drivers\Bluetooth folder and check if you can connect the other bluetooth devices.

4. Run Windows Update to get the latest patch and bug fixes for Windows.

Let me know how it goes.

Hi -

Do you know that like a mouse, the touch screen does not process until you release? Check it out. Put your mouse over a link, hold down the left button, move the mouse and release the button. Nothing happens. It's the same for the touch screen.

How can I change this? I want the touch screen to activate when touched rather than removed. I believe this is in the mouse setting since it is acting like a mouse and performing the same job. I have looked all over the Internet and cannot find the answer. By the way, we have a HP Touch Smart computer running XP Home Premium.

Any help is greatly appreciated. I need this to help my daughter who has developmental delays. You can get more information about her at The Grub ClubŪ - About Us.

After replacing my previous Lenovo Laptop because of my screen going black, my wife purchased this y50-y70 touch as a gift. I only had this since January 2016 and I'm already having problems with this too. I use this as a work computer so it is usually on at least 8 hours a day. The screen has a discoloration at the bottom left corner. It looks like when someone put a magnet next to an old TV causing the display to discolor. Also, the screen flickers a lot. And just today the display turned green.  I've updated all the drivers which didn't have any effect on the flickering. After reading some other posts with similar issues, I went ahead and changed some display settings in the graphics properties. I hope someone can help with these issues. I've had this computer for less than a year.  I currently have Windows 10 Pro installed.

Here is the Service Manual: Manual Hard drive replacement is shown on page 36 of the Manual. Your laptop, by the specs, came with a 500 gig 5400 rpm drive. This model only uses the superslim 7mm hard drives so that is what you need to buy. There are also options for an M.2 solid state drive or a regular-sized SATA solid state drive in lieu of the slower 5400 rpm mechanical drive. In other words, this would be your opportunity to speed it up a bit.  This would be a 7200 rpm mechanical drive of 500 gigs and would be a nice replacement at a low cost: http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Laptop-7200RPM-Cache-ST500LM021/dp/B00ISKS416/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1462017567&sr=8-2&keywords=7mm+laptop+hard+drive Solid state drive which would replace the hard drive: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-2-5-Inch-Internal-MZ-75E250B-AM/dp/B00OAJ412U/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1462017682&sr=1-1&keywords=Samsung+850+Evo If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

In case anyone is interested...
Which monitor is listed as being Pen and Touch enabled depends on which one is set as primary. Changing it didn't resolve my Photoshop problem.
However, I took a shot in the dark and disabled "Pen Flicks." That solved the Photoshop issue.

My left hinge malfunctrioned and cracked the screen on the V5-571P-6657 notebook. I took it to a shop to be repaired. They replaced the screen digitizer. The touch screen is now jumping all around and there are bubbles on the screen. The shop told me there is nothing that can be done and I have to disable the touch screen. They said the problem is with a driver that can't be updated because the company was sold. This doesn't seem right. The touch screen was working perfectly well until the hinge malfunction cracked the screen. I have spent a fortune to get it repaired and now they tell me I can't have a touch screen. Can anyone give me some advice? I don't know if the problem is with the digitizer board, but know one sells these anymore

I've had my y50-70 for about three weeks now and in the past week or so, I've had issues with the touch/mousepad. I'll be using it and suddenly it just stops. I don't mean to SPAM this board with the same issue that othyers have previously reported and discussed but this iPod sync issue doesn't seem to ever get solved in any of the threads that I have read I've seen this problem reported hundreds of times and almost always the symptoms are reported slightly differently I think the with Sync iPod Touch... issues reason is that the storage device that the sync software is trying to access is not actually the iPod and the error the user gets is based on what kind of device they have installed that is quot in the way quot I have this problem when I connect to an external WD My Book e-Sata and it has Sync issues with iPod Touch... an assigned drive letter D I disconnect the external drive and the iPod instantly syncs successfully I aslo have the issue since installing my USB-connected HP All-in-One and it used drive letter D for it's internal card reader In either case I can get the iPod to connect and successfully sync just by disconnecting the conflicting device If I have either one of them on then the sync process just hangs or sometimes gives me a device-related error The iTunes log file specifically says that it is attempting to access an invalid un-recognized device I tried changing the drive letter assignment of the external drive and that worked When I connected the iPod Touch it immediately brought up iTunes and synced However if I change the drive letter assignment of the printer's card reader -- the only DLA associated with the printer that I can find -- it does not solve the whole problem The printer then begins to give me a printer scanner error There is no issue between the external drive and the all-in-one printer if the Apple software is not installed It's pretty clear to me that the iPod iTunes installation will assign a device id that is already being used It's also clear that when other devices are installed after the iPod they do not detect the drive assignment already in use by the iPod I just don't know how to get that last little bit of absolute confirmation The iPod Touch by design does not show up on the drive list when connected like the older iPods did and when I look in Device Manager Sync issues with iPod Touch... it just shows it as a portable device without a DLA What I need to be able to do is to confirm the device access assignments for all of the installed devices Does anyone know how I can do that

A:Sync issues with iPod Touch...

Is there anyone here who has an iPod Touch and an All-in-One, preferrably an HP All-in-One, printer working successfully together on a desktop machine of any type and Windows OS?

I would love to hear from you if you do.

I keep plugging away. Yesterday I started with a Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit build with just the HP 6500 All-in-One and the printer and all of its functions were working perfectly. I plugged in a Sony Video Cam via a 1394 connection and it found and loaded the driver and popped up the dialog to capture the video. The popup occurred just before another popup informed me that the HP 6500 had gone offline. I then turned the camera off and the printer came back on line. I removed the vid cam driver and left the camera off.

Then I plugged in the iPod, after having installed the newest 64 bit version of iTunes, and it detected the device but wouldn't complete the driver installation. I powered down the HP 6500 and the iPod installation completed.

I then turned the printer on and it appeared to work but the iPod wouldn't complete the sync process unless I turned the printer off.

Then I changed the drive letter of the HP all-in-one from "E:" to "G:" and rebooted and it appeared that everything was working. I brought the scanner up but didn't actually scan anything but, still, no disconnect messages. Finally, success I thought.

Today my daughter tried to send a fax from the computer. It started the scan, stopped after only partially scanning and said that the printer was disconnected.

She then rebooted and tried to scan a photo and it did essentailly the same thing -- a partial scan, froze, and then reported the printer offline.

Sigh...

Hi KeatonBeutlich ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

The best guys that can decipher Result Code: WVC003002-UL7VON would be calling in technical support .
Otherwise you can simply proceed in manually installing display drivers from the device manager (  Intel then 970m) either from the support website or directly from manufacturer.
Related discussions here and here for review.

For the freezing issue , updating the BIOS can help. Check on this discussion for the steps including the readme files from the support driver site.

Disabling the caps/num lock indicator you may follow this steps from this article Similar also here or this  this post.

Let's try it a step at a time .

Hi guys, The webcam on my laptop works when I open the Youcam app or skype without moving the laptop. But when I try to move the laptop it says webcam not detected. Same thing happens when I touch the black border around the screen. I am guessing its a wire connection issues or something. And HP support does not have techinical support page to contact them. My laptop is still under warranty BTW. Thank you.

HP has almost completely moved over to a web-based warranrty service model. You have to start an online support case.  http://h20565.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/public/scm/home?ac.admitted=1473163150139.1123376534.4928...

Always difficult to help someone who is already not a satisfied customer but I think the unsatisfactory battery life you have experienced may mean you got a bad battery from the factory. It could also explain the heat issue. The battery, I know, is internal so there is not a lot the end user can do to troubleshoot except HP does provide a battery diagnostic test in the UEFI routine which you can access by tapping F2 as you power up. It is also possible the charging port has gone bad and that is a separate replaceable part so at least does not require motherboard replacement. Since you are likely out of warranty (usually 1 year) you may be willing to try replacing the battery yourself if that is indicated. It is not terribly difficult but does require removing quite a few screws and observing some precautions. Here is the Service Manual in case it comes in handy: Service manual There has been a low drumbeat here of battery complaints on this model. Some, like you say they get under 2 hours while other say the get the 7 or 8 hours the marketing suggests. I can only think battery quality control must not be great. I, like most of the Experts here do not work for HP.  If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

not sure why. My scanner cannot work with my laptop. Zero response. The message I obtained is   CANON DR P215II IS AN OLDER USB DEVICE AND MAY NOT WORK WITH USB 3.0 Plug the device into an available USB 2.0 port, and click Next. Otherwise, click Cancel I do not know how and what to do next. My concern is I change anything, I may affect something else

A:USB ISSUES - USING WINDOWS 10 / ENVY

sunbloom Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums! The USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 are different specifications, such that not only is USB 3.0 a lot faster, it also supports devices that draw a lot more power than USB 2.0 devices -- which is why you got that warning. With something like a USB stick, this is generally NOT a problem as they don't draw much power, but with things like portable hard drives, that can be a serious problem. Since your scanner is likely powered by AC current (meaning, it plugs into a wall outlet), then it is not drawing power from the USB cable and should work fine -- just slower than it would connected to a USB 3.0 jack.Good Luck

On the Right Shift Key issue, I would like you test in Recovery Environment, if we have same issue...To do that tap F11 on boot, that should take you into the recovery partition, on the recovery manager screen, Click on "Ran Computer Check" .... In there will be MS-DOS option...check there if you have the same issue....Standby on Numlock issue...
