Windows IE11 non closing tab

Q: Windows IE11 non closing tab

Hi, I wonder if anyone else has seen this issue. If I open a couple of tabs in IE11 and then close one of them down. If I then put my cursor on IE11 in the task bar it shows the tab is still open with a revolving circle in the middle and does not close down. If I then try to go to the other open tab I get 'websitename not responding' the only way I can close down the tab is by using task manager to close down the whole of IE11. Any help gratefully received as ever. Al

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi. Internet explorer 11 stops working and has to close every time I bring-up my Log-in page for Yahoo. It's fine with everything else. I can even surf round the yahoo site itself, but as soon as I click the log-in button, a message says a problem has caused IE11 to stop working. It trys one more time to open the page, but then a message shows, saying that it can't display this page in a Frame...or something very similar. Everything else on the computer appears to be just fine. Can anyone help please?

Hi there

IE11 seems to have a strange "Feature". When you close a Web site with an active download the whole thing closes and the download disappears -- IE 11 shows no windows open.

However press CTRL+J and you'll see the download lists again. If there's no activity press PAUSE and then press RESUME and then it should continue from where it stopped.

To some this might seem obvious but I've seen people re-start a 2hr download because they thought they had lost their currently active download when they accidentally closed the web site.

Cheers
jimbo

A:IE11 Closing web page stops download but you can resume

Hi,
Interesting find I'll have to test that later this evening,
Are you mostly using metro interface or desktop ?
Cheers.
Just out of curiosity why would some close ie during a download ?

I have 7 email accounts on our Exchange server for different business and personal roles.  I have always used OWA instead of Outlook to segregate accounts on my desktop.  For quick logins I have been using "Keyboard Express"
Macro program  to insert USER and PASSWORD into OWA.   With some update applied in December 2015, Keyboard Express no long works on most of my Macro hotkeys because the IE hotkeys have taken precedence.  Such as ALT-H and other.
This same think happened to IE11 when I ran the Windows 10 upgrade 2 months ago, so I restored Win7 with a disk image to get rid of Window 10.
Is there a way to assign precedence between a Macro Program and IE11 Hotkeys ?

anyone seen this one?
on booting up 8.1, lenovo z410, the first few attempts to use IE11 from the desktop fail. "cannot open page".
connection troubleshooter produces nothing.

go to APPS > IE and it works fine.

after using chrome and the tile app for awhile, IE11-Desktop will gain coherency and start working.

is there a way to reinstall the desktop side?

this is a clean install with little/nothing loaded on it, about to be deployed for real work so its important.
I've never seen this issue before on 7/8 so kinda lost/bewildered

A:IE11 Desktop fails connection. IE11 Tile App succeeds

Maybe can not get that page immediately, try setting blank page for start-up. (about:blank) and than as a start page.

Good Afternoon,

I am running into issues trying to upgrade to IE11. It looks like there are several issues in my CheckSUR Log, but I am not sure how to fix them. I have ran SFC /scannow a couple times and no errors have been identified. I have been having this problem for a couple months now and have just been using Chrome. I have also had several issues with the Aero Effects and Themes as I have to troubleshoot that multiple times a day.
I am receiving error code '3FD' from Windows Update regarding IE11.

Attached is my log.

Thank you in advance for your help!

A:IE11 Update/Install Issue - Trying to Upgrade to IE11

hello and welcome skohon now personally I would download IE11 Download Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7 from Official Microsoft Download Center - it says on my machine I already have it if yours does the there is something quite wrong.

If it is not on your machine then you save the above to downloads and then do what is in this Install or uninstall Internet Explorer - Windows Help

I have done this myself on odd occasions and it saves you having to muck around with updates.

First you might like to run this though in safe mode if necessary
Disk Check and run the /f and /r switches if necessary.

I have a number of .mht files created some time ago (approx 2 years) with IE11 (.mht files are a specific IE format for saving a web page as a single file).
Now IE11 won't work with these files. IE just gives the message "Internet Explorer has stopped working".
But if I load the files onto an old XP machine (with IE7), they load absolutely fine.
I'm guessing that some (security) changes have been made to IE11 that have affected its workings.
I've googled for a solution / ideas, but no joy. Anyone here got any thoughts?

A:BSOD when resizing/closing World of Warcraft, also when closing Chrome

Hi Haxiel.

The zip you uploaded does not contain any crash dump.

Follow it: Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD
Go to Option Two, Point 2. Download the .reg file and merge it in registry by double clicking it.

Now wait for another BSOD. When it occurred, search the .dmp files manually in the default path: C:\Windows\Minidump or %SystemRoot%\Minidump. See if the crash dump is recorded or not (hopefully it will be recorded).Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

Dont run any disc cleanup tool before you upload another zip.

I am having an issue that it looks like many other have run into trying to upgrade from IE to or Other Windows Updates go through fine but anytime I try to install IE or via Windows Update or from the offline installer it fails 9C59 error Windows cannot 32bit install IE10 7 Update Windows or IE11: with the error C A little backstory on this in case it helps We have a VDI environment so this is on our gold image Months back we updated IE to IE but found that we were having compatibility issues with an internal web app and had to downgrade back to IE via uninstalling the IE installed update It appears that I can still re-install IE but anything beyond Windows 7 32bit cannot install IE10 or IE11: Windows Update error 9C59 that fails with the info above I've tried many of the suggestions out there such as reinstalling the readiness tool resetting windows update agent etc but no luck so far The interesting thing that Windows 7 32bit cannot install IE10 or IE11: Windows Update error 9C59 I found is if i start fresh with this update again so i start with IE the quot turn windows features on off quot shows IE as an option to toggle on off However after I try the IE install and it fails i still have IE installed but the quot windows features on off quot window shows IE so its almost like it ALMOST gets there and fails Either way if theres any help someone could have for this I'd greatly appreciate it i'm happy to try and scans logs that might help thank you andrew

A:Slow browser, IE closing, Outlook and Yahoo closing

Hi Elise,
thank you. I ended up getting rid of PC Tools Internet Security and switching to AVG Basic Free. I think most of the major problems went away.
Yahoo has stayed up, Outlook has stayed up, browser seems to work quickly, facebook didn't have floating text and pictures anymore, was able to do some posting, sent some large emails. But, and not exactly sure, IE has frozen up, but not as often. The dds program you had me run this morning froze and I had to do a hard shut off, task mgr didn't respond and the weirdest thing of all, the clock stopped. Can't say I have ever seen that. So I am not sure what exactly is going on, if it really is malware or some setting is messed up. I wasn't able to run video on a site last night. Major improvement since I got rid of PC tools, but not quite right. Sorry, nontechie.

I see a number of threads here concerning problems Vista/IE9 8.1/IE11 Windows Speed vs. Windows Loading Page with IE and Windows I have read through many of them Each problem seems to be a little different and here is mine I have a new December HP desktop which came with Windows and IE I am Windows 8.1/IE11 vs. Windows Vista/IE9 Page Loading Speed using the desktop mode as my interface On this machine certain websites load slowly and erratically to seconds or more What is bothersome is that the page will not release the cursor or mouse wheel until everything has loaded The elements on the page that display slowly seem to be those with animations requiring Flash this is usually advertisements This has been the behavior since I started using the machine The main part of the page loads then the Flash-based advertisements take a long time to load and only then release the cursor amp mouse In the same room I have my previous computer Windows Vista running with IE The same websites load very quickly and seamlessly and release the cursor and mouse wheel within - seconds Both machines access the same router Airport Extreme and I am using Ethernet to connect to the router on both machines My antivirus is Avast same version on both machines Having Avast active or not does not alter the results The Windows IE machine does not have Java the Vista IE does have Java Unless there is something I am missing the Internet Options are basically the same for both machines I have not tried any other browsers on either machine as I have no experience with them I am probably missing something obvious but would be happy to receive advice from others here as to how get my IE speed up to my IE speed Thanks

A:Windows 8.1/IE11 vs. Windows Vista/IE9 Page Loading Speed

An example of a really slow-to-load web site on Windows 8.1/IE11 is:

62 Windows 8 tips, tricks and secrets | News | TechRadar

Takes about 15 seconds to release the cursor.

That opens very quickly (about 3 seconds to release cursor) on my Vista/IE9 machine. If someone would try it, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Newbie here having an intermittent problem with IE11. Coupla' times a day I have to restart
Windows 10 because I can't get it to open IE11. Sometimes it's when I click on a link in an email, sometimes just clicking on the Explorer icon the basic framework of IE11 comes up, but with no URL and it refuses to take a URL. So I restart everything and it works fine. What's the problem here?

A:IE11 sometimes won't open with Windows 10

No guarantees. Do a browser cache cleanup. If that does not help, then do a Reset of IE11.

Browser cache cleanup :
Open Ie11 > at the top, Tolls < Internet Options > at Browser history, click Delete > make sure the top 4 items are checked > click delete again > click OK when done.

IE 11 Reset :
Back to Internet Options > at the top, click Advanced tab > at the bottom, click Reset > follow the prompts.......

Please be gentle - this is my first post.
My problem is since updating to 8.1, whenever I fire up IE11 on desktop mode a Windows Installer box shows in the middle of the screen saying "preparing to install" and the box continually flashes and the webpage will not load. I have no idea why this happens! IE works fine in metro mode and I cannot find any logs in Event Viewer with regards to this problem.
Can anybody help please?
PC is a Dell XPS8500, seven months old.
Many thanks

A:IE11 and flashing Windows Installer box

Hi Techny,

Welcome to the forum. Can you give us any additional information about the box that pops up? Maybe a screenshot of it so we can get a better handle on your issue? Does it give you the option to click a button to continue or does the box just sit there and flash forever?

Also, just as a precaution. Now might be a really good time to do a complete malware scan of your Dell XPS.

Hi there I see that Ms has now decided to support IE on Windows - and there is no Enterprise preview of W Microsoft promises IE on Windows - ComputerworldUK com click original tab to get rid of annoying commercial -- people who advertise like this cause REAL irritation to users - I note these offenders and go out of my way NEVER to use their products This rather suggests that Ms seems to have given up on trying to make corporations large businesses switch to W W8 abandons for Businesses it Windows Ms for IE11 seems 7 and that W is likely to be around for a VERY long time will it become as others have suggested in IE11 for Windows 7 Ms abandons Businesses for W8 it seems the past the quot New XP quot Support is guaranteed until at least by which time I shall have certainly long since retired from the business of having anything to do with computers -- I'll probably be running a Bar or a Garden Center and become a quot bog standard user quot just using a machine for accounts taxes etc There are a few features that I DO like in W - such as Virtual ISO mounting and the very useful WINDOWS TO GO feature enterprise version only though but workwise it's still W for me at the moment I've been running W for some while now but I can't see it going anywhere in the direction I'd like it to --and I'm not a Metro user in any shape or form so I've gone back to running my main Laptop and desktop on W again while just keeping W W on virtual machines just in case anything useful emerges I DID give W every possible chance and while W has gone a little in the right direction it's still not for me -- and now that IE is going to be made available for W I have no hesitation in reverting back That's my view -- and I'm sure I'm not alone -- W was an interesting trial W obviously an admission by Ms that some things were royally hosed up but they need to UNHOSE stuff PDQ bring out W quickly for Enterprise for example OTHERWISE THEY ARE IN BIG TROUBLE ON THE WINDOWS FRONT IE seems good -- although some online services still report quot Unsupported Browser quot and the fact that Ms is now fixing it for W shows the way the market feels currently Cheers jimbo

Obvious to anyone. You have three malware apps running live at the same time. You have Avast, Kaspersky, and AVG.

You need to remove them all and install Microsoft Security Essentials AT LEAST TO TEST.

If you continue to crash even after removing them upload the DMP file as you have old drivers that need updating.

Any free utility I try to download starts, but then I get message "download interrupted" or "publisher not recognized."

Also, I'm getting "this page can't be displayed" for an alarming number of routine websites.
I tried disabling SmartScreen and Protection Mode but it didn't solve the problems.
Would appreciate any advice on these issues.

Hi

Toshiba laptop running Windows 7 Professional, 4GB RAM, Microsoft Security Essentials.  Appear to have been infected such that IE11 runs CPU at 100% and can therefore not load sites etc.  Then downloaded/installed Firefox in Safe Mode with same result.  As CPU running at 100% can not run any other applications.  Switch wifi off and, though it takes a little while to run down, CPU usage returns to "normal" and can carry out other tasks.

Ran a full scan with Microsoft Security Essentials - took 15 hours to complete - nothing found.

Downloaded RogueKiller in Safe Mode - idenitfied and deleted four instances of a pum - restarted laptop but same symptoms - respawned?

Downloaded Malwarebytes in Safe Mode - nothing found.

Have now removed Roguekiller and Malwarebytes.

Any help much appreciated.

Try ccleaner and leave the basic stuff checked as well as dns cache under system.

CCleaner - Delete Junk Files

Have you scanned your system for malware?

Such as with malware bytes or avast?

You can download them and run a full scan in my signature.

I have a new HP Envy running W8.1 64-bit and IE11 with Windows Defender. By default SmartScreen Filter and Protection Mode are enabled.
Any free utility I try to download starts, but then I get message "download interrupted" or "publisher not recognized."
I'm mainly trying to download the latest free Advanced System Care at this time.
Also, I'm getting "this page can't be displayed" for an alarming number of routine websites.
I tried disabling SmartScreen and Protection Mode but it didn't solve the problems.
Would appreciate any advice on these issues.
Thanks TSG members!

A:Windows 8.1 IE11 download and website problems

I can't help on your current issues, but my advice for avoiding some future problems is to not install Advanced System Care.

Have you installed any other free utilities (that could be causing your current problems)? Or any problematic browser Add-ons?

Ever since the Windows Anniversary update my laptop has become extremely user UNfriendly.I am forever having to tap the "recover webpage". I have already reset the IE11 to default settings and I have disabled all of my add-ons (I read somewhere that perhaps the add-ons were corrupt) and I still have not solved the problem. Any thoughts for a correction would be appreciated from any brilliant techie! If at all possible, please try to keep the solution fairly easy/simple since paralysis of fear kicks whenever I attempt to complete anything overly complicated. Since I am not tech-savvy, my initial response to a task is "OMG, I don't have a clue as to what I am being asked to do"!" Honestly, on the tech-savvy scale, I am a negative 1. Just lay it out as if you're talking to a newbie. :)message edited by geekiamnot

Simple really.
GPEDIT "turn off page zooming functionality" does not seem to work in 8.1 on my Toughpad 4K.
Am I missing something? A check of the registry shows that "ZoomDisabled" or whatever it was = 1 yet pinch zoom still works on 8.1
Notes: 10 is not an option, this is for embedded. Chrome et cetera are also not options for the same reason.
Registry, real working GPEdit good.
Requiring specially coded HTML if it works might be an option but I would prefer not to have to explore that canal.

I enjoy playing Hearts and Spades on the MSN Game Zone.
However with IE11 on Windows 8.1 there are ongoing problems in connecting to these games.
One has to jump through a series of hoops in IE11 to get these games to function. In addition it sometimes it two or three attempts to achieve any success.
Then after two or three days, or weeks, the problem resurfaces.
Does anyone know of a guaranteed method of making the games work and keeping them working on IE11?
Is the fault with IE11, Windows 8.1, or the MSN Game Zone?

A:Isuues with IE11 and MSN Game Zone on Windows 8.1

Update:
Not the fault of IE11, Windows 8.1, or the MSN Zone on this occasion.
Narrowed it down to a recent automatic update of aVast Internet Security.

Got a work around, but still waiting for a definitive solution.

To my mind the script error issue is quite random. I do some 1:1 computer teaching and I have one or two clients who are plagued by it. Constant pressing the esc key seems the easiest way to clear it as you can use your left hand!I have experienced the problem myself at times but then it goes away. Most people I help have the Google toolbar, including myselfIt does seem more prevalent with W 10 users (and IE 11).My perception is that its a Microsoft error and that they should fix it!

Hello KKOP and welcome to Seven Forums. To help us help you could you please fill out all of your system specs?
You say you tried a few solutions to no avail could you please give us a brief description of what solutions you have tried?

Have a look here and follow the steps lined out by Microsoft for update errors.

Hello,
We have over 1000 Windows 7 SP1 64bit machines that we are going to be pushing out IE11 to. I've created a custom IE installer for IE11 and have it setup in SCCM for deployment.
Before the IE11 upgrade, the client PCs have the default shortcuts for IE9 (both an "internet explorer" and "internet explorer 64-bit".
Once the IE11 upgrade runs and is finished, these shortcuts have been replaced by a single "internet explorer" shortcut. BUT it points to the 64bit version of IE11!  Is there something that can be changed within the install package to prevent
this? Why is this happening?
We cannot have end users using 64bit IE11.

Thanks

How can 'autoplay of next video' be stopped?  I don't want to be advanced by You Tube, or Fox News (as examples) randomly to the next video 'they' want me to see.  I want to stay in one spot as there may be other videos related to the subject I'm looking for info on, and instead autoplay white arrow circle begins spinning and it blows my concentration trying to stop their selected next advance.

While the settings gear lets you stop it 1 time in a row (maybe), it drags you right back into its process on the next video.  You wind up "mud-wrestling" with an auto-process for control over your own computer!

Another annoying auto-process is: you're reading an article of choice and suddenly the page drags you back to a new video ad "they" want you to see/hear.

It's my computer!  How can I keep it from "their" taking away my control?!

Does anyone know a solution?

A:Windows 7 IE11 Stop Autoplay of Next Video

Hi Keepon, and Welcome.

The problem is these are site based settings (not based in your computer)

The you tube can be done by turning autoplay off with the slider (at the top of the video list) this may well default back if you have cookies disabled(You tube saves your settings as cookies)

As far as the other sites without visiting them I can't comment

Hope that helps a bit

Is there a FREE way to speed up Internet Explorer 11, please? It frequently takes minutes to connect to my home page or some shopping sites and I get the message "Internet Explorer is not responding".

A:Looking for Free ways to Speed up Windows 7 IE11?

Firstly, in IE go to Tools > Internet Options > Advanced tab. Try the Reset button there. You will lose your add-ons but they soon come back with usage.Another possibility is malware, so if the above doesn't help then run these two programs for starters (in the order given) - they are focussed on browser malware:AdwCleaner:http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/dow...(blue Download button near top - not anything else on the page).Download and "Save" the file somewhere. Just noticed that clicking on this option doesn't open it in file explorer like it does on my Windows 7 machine. I can browse my FTP drive fine from within internet explorer 11. It's not a major issue as I can type the address in file explorer and get it that way. It's just a little frustrating this option doesn't work. Anyone else notice the same?

It seems using file explorer to navigating to the internet ftp location is the only way to do this this in WIN10. It will not work from within IE11.

During update, W8.1 restarts, and goes to the boot screen. Then gives this error:
We couldn?t complete the updates, Undoing changes. Don?t turn off your computer.

All updates that were installed get undone. And if you install updates again, it will do the same thing. The reason is because of one update:
IE 11 Windows 8.1 - KB2962872

Has anybody else had this problem? Anybody know what to do?

my windows 10 has the Blue E that states 'Microsoft Edge' when mouse hovers over the taskbar avatar .. but My MSN videos play videos back in black screen( no video) and sound is OK .. BUT every where I look for a fix remedy says to fix this within IE11 settings where is IE11?

"When upgrading from an earlier version of Windows to Windows 10, Microsoft Edge will automatically become your default browser. Microsoft Edge is a new internet browser introduced with Windows 10 ."

in the mean time have made my default browser google chrome and have no problem with MSN videos ...

A:Running windows 10 AEd . confused over IE11 and EDGE

Windows 10 comes with both IE11 and Edge built in. Edge is Microsoft's recommended browser and the one where all future development will concentrate. But the business world would throw up their hand in horror if IE was removed - many bespoke company Intranet applications will only work with IE because only IE can run Microsoft ActiveX controls. Indeed Microsoft's own Update Catalog website will only work with IE for the same reason.

You have IE if you really need it but MS don't really want you to use it, so it's hidden away on an infrequently visited part of the All Apps list. It's to be found under 'Windows Accessories'. The only other place you can find it is (ironically) in Edge. Open any webpage, click on the 'three dots' icon at the top right and one of the items in the menu that appears is 'Open with Internet Explorer'. However you get to it, once running you can pin it to the taskbar.

But finding IE isn't necessarily going to help you fix Edge's video problems, the settings you need to change may be in Edge, not IE. I'm not clear what you mean by 10 A.Ed. Can you type Winver in the search box next to Start and run it. To be of more help we need to know the full set of numbers shown there for the version and OS build.

What I can tell you is that for my version 1607 (OS Build 14393.187) Edge has no such problems showing videos from MSN.

I'm using Internet Explorer 11 and Windows 7 Pro. Recently, many of my selections in the Favorites drop-down menu either don't open at all and just 'hang' - or they open onto a blank page which indicates it's trying to go to whatever website I've selected but never does. I performed a search in this forum for a method to change the border/title bar from white to a different color..at least for me, the white color is WAY to bright..and it is very distracting. Doing a search about it elsewhere on the web..didn't help, in fact most result's state " it can't be changed ". I still feel like it can be..I KNOW I could go into the registry and change it. But before doing so I thought I'd get some feedback in here first.

A:IE10 Disappears after Windows update to IE11 Turned OFF

Since it's an update try to remove it:
Remove an update

Weird, IE11 should make place for IE10 with the above procedure.

There is no way to use IE9 on Win8.

If nothing works and IE11 remains, try changing the developer tools (F12) browser mode (Alt-B) to 'emulate' an older browser if possible.

This is driving me crazy The live stream at MSNBC TV Digital TVE - Lean Forward The digital home of MSNBC TV MSNBC seems to have broken recently when on 8.1 IE11/Windows MSNBC Issue Live 64-bit Stream using Windows IE -bit It think it may be a Flash update issue The archived video streams like one at The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell on msnbc plays fine MSNBC Live Stream on IE11/Windows 8.1 64-bit Issue Also live streaming works on Chrome although choppy I've checked the Flash settings for storage permissions and all seems fine Could someone check to see if the live MSNBC stream works for them on Windows IE -bit The live stream actually works when logging in through my cable provider's site MyVerizon so it seems it's something with how MSNBC is doing the stream directly versus through the provider Thanks for the help This is weird since the archived streams work and the live stream doesn't I've deleted cookies etc and about everything I could think of P S to access the live stream you must subscribe to a cable service included on their list and sign in using that account information If your provider isn't on the first tiled list click see full list below the tiles for a more complete list

A:MSNBC Live Stream on IE11/Windows 8.1 64-bit Issue

UPDATE:
Although no one seemed to care (or had any help) I'm posting this to close out the thread.

I discovered that the now.msnbc.com and cnbc.com/live-tv/ sites have a problem with default document mode that is being used in IE 11. The default is "9" for these sites is but changing the document mode to "10" produces the live stream video. In IE, hitting F12 brings up the emulation screen that allows you to see and set the emulation for document mode.

I wanted to share the cause and a workaround.

FYI the default document mode for this forum site is also "9" which is apparently not the latest standard ("Edge"). See Document Mode in Internet Explorer | Testing made easier in Internet Explorer | modern.IE if you're curious about what I am writing about here.

I have been unable to get Windows update to install Security Update for Windows 7 (KB2872339) and Internet Explorer 11 for many months. I currently have IE9. The Update window use to include IE10, but that no longer is listed even though the computer is running IE9.

I've tried all the fixes I can find on the interent. Nothing has worked.

I tried downloading KB2872339 from the Microsoft website. When it tries to install it, I get the message that it is not applicalbe for my machine.

Just to confuse the issue, when Windows update runs, it states that KB2872339 was successful, only to have it listed again that it needs to be installed.

Any help woukd be appreciated.

John

A:Security Update for Windows 7 (KB2872339) & IE11 will not install

well; if i were you; do not install ie11; as ie11 is really designed for windows 8; and will get rid of any gadgets you have in 7 and cause other problems. I had that problem with 11. I installed it only to find out that my gadgets were gone. To resolve the issue i uninstalled 11 and went back to 10. You should still be able to find 10 on microsoft's site somewhere. As for the security update; make sure it says whether or not its designed for 32 or 64 bit windows 7; as ive had updates come up via the update; that i thought were designed for my version of 7; but ended up being for the other one for some reason. Also; as for it not installing; i would read what the error says and click on more info and see what the page for it shows.

I am new to windows 8.1. I have a Lenovo Yoga 2.

I want to be able to read web pages that I have saved as "favorites", online, while I am offline. I will not have access for a week and would love to read articles, pages that I have saved.

Can someone tell me how to do this step by step?

Thank you so much in advance!

A:Windows 8.1 IE11: How do I save web pages to read offline?

Hey mate,

You can save the webpage; it worked for me when I was offline:

Go to the web page in Internet explorer, click on Tools (the cog wheel), select file, then Save as...
You can save the page to the desktop, a folder you've created, downloads, or anywhere really. Then you'll have a list of pages that you can view later on.

Hi,

I'm currently stuck with a strange problem occurring only with Windows 8.1 and Windows 10.

We use a Bluecoat Proxy appliance but it may be the same with other proxies using web filtering.
Actually, on a Windows 7 with IE11 installed, when a user browse an Internet page trying to open a denied website in an iframe, we receive the custom websense page hosted on our Intranet telling that this is not allowed without problem.
When testing the same site with Windows 8.1 or Windows 10, Internet Explorer is asking the user's credentials to display the custom page in the iframe. When clicking on Cancel, I have a 401 error in the iframe, when entering the credentials, I receive the
custom page.
The Windows 7, WIndows 8.1 and Windows 10 are using the same GPO.
Any idea ?

When I watch YouTube video screensaver kicks in.

when I watched YouTube video on windows 8 it was IE10 (I think it used flash player plugin) everything was ok while video playing no screensaver.

After upgrade to windows 8.1 and ie11 I noticed that it is HTML5 video and screensaver started appearing while video is playing.
So question is how can I disable screensaver while HTML5 video is playing in IE11?

Well...if you paid for that particular Dell package...my advice would be to use it.  IMO, it's just another instance of a developer taking advantage of system puchasers but caveat emptor is the basic rule of life in this part of the world.

Your complaints or other comments regarding service received...probably should be made to Dell, not here, IMO.

You do not need to install Flash Player."

I went to Tools -> Manage add-ons and saw that Shockwave Flash Object is enabled.

I went to Tools -> Safety and made sure that "ActiveX Filtering" is unticked and that the URL bar doesn't show a blue No Sign. I also tried ticking "ActiveX Filtering", but that didn't help, so I unticked again.

If I go to a Web site that uses Flash, I see a prompt that says "This website wants to install the following add-on: 'Adobe Flash Player' from 'Adobe System Incorporated'." I click "Install". The Adobe Flash Player 18.0 Installer proceeds, but then says "The installation encountered errors: Your Microsoft Internet Explorer browser includes the latest version of the Adobe Flash Player built-in. Windows Update will inform you when new versions of the Flash Player are available."

I checked for Windows Updates, but I'm up-to-date (all optional and important updates have been installed).

Enhanced Protected Mode is disabled (it's unticked).

All my zone settings are already set to the default levels.

I exported my IE11 settings, turned the Internet Explorer 11 Windows feature off, restarted, turned the Internet Explorer 11 Windows feature on, restarted, and Flash was still undetected.

I tried uninstalling the Flash Player Windows update (currently KB3079777), restarting, checking for updates, and restarting, but that didn't help. I went through my update history for other instances of Flash player and then searching for those KBs in the list of installed updates, but only the latest one was installed, so I assume that uninstalling the latest one is enough to completely remove it.

My C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash has activex.vch, Flash.ocx, Flash64_18_0_0_209.ocx, FlashInstall.log, FlashUtil_ActiveX.dll, FlashUtil_ActiveX.exe, and FlashUtil64_18_0_0_209_ActiveX.exe. According to what I've read online, I'd expect to see FlashUtil64_18_0_0_209_Plugin.exe, but I don't see it. I made sure that hidden items are displayed.

I tried searching my registry for "FlashUtil64_18_0_0_209_Plugin.exe" (as key, value, or data), but it wasn't found. I also tried searching just "Plugin.exe", but nothing was found.

I tried searching "This PC" for "FlashUtil64_18_0_0_209_Plugin.exe" and "Plugin.exe", but neither were found.

I tried running "regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\macromed\flash\flash.ocx" in an Administrator Command Prompt. It said "DllRegisterServer in c:\windows\system32\macromed\flash\flash.ocx succeeded", but Flash is still undetected in my browser.

I tried opening https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html with IE11 Metro (rather than Desktop), but it was also unable to detect Flash.

I tried installing Firefox 39.0 and going to https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html, but it was unable to detect Flash.

My "Add or remove programs" list doesn't list anything related to Adobe.

My Windows 8 came with my computer (I don't have a separate install disk). I don't have any restore points and can't recall if Flash has ever worked on my computer. I don't feel comfortable resetting Windows because it will be very time consuming to reconfigure everything.

I have restarted my browser and/or computer after each change.

Anyone have any idea what the problem might be and how to solve it?

I loaded IE11 preview a few days ago and it has worked flawlessly. Today I ran Windows Update and after this IE11 would not open - I just got an error message saying IE could not operate. It took a number of closing of the error dialogue box to get the error boxes tto stop appearing. I have gone back to IE10 and have no problems again. I tried reinstalling 11 and it worked fine again - until I ran Windows Update again same problem happened. I am sure there is some conflict with an update or more - KB2879017 looks a likely culprit.

Grateful for any advice on how to get IE11 to co-exist with Windows Update. Thanks.

I'm running W7 Professional 64bit. Entirely stable system - no problems.

Run it - The tool can take anywhere from 5 mins to a couple of hours to run (or 'Install') depending on how much it has to do, and may exit silently - it may appear to freeze for most of that time, but be patient.
The result is logged in the C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log file - and an archive …\checksur.persist.log file

Then zip the CheckSUR.log and upload it to your reply.

Pleasefollow the WindowsUpdate Posting Instructions and post the requested data
If the file is too large (8MBcompressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file isbelow the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (theforum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

Hey guys so I tried installing internet explorer 11 via windows update. It said the download had been successful so I restarted my computer opened the browser and saw nothing had changed. It was still internet explorer 10 so I checked the installed updates list and it wasn't listed. So then I went back to windows updates but now I cant even find it there. No error code or anything came up so im wondering if anyone else has had this issue and was able to solve it?

A:Windows IE11 update downloads successfully but doesnt install.

Your forum system specs do not specify which bit level of Windows 7 you are using. 32bit or 64bit?

Try downloading this stand alone installer for IE11 from Microsoft:
32bit
64bit
Use the 64bit link if you are using a 64bit version of Windows 7.
Use the 32bit link if you are using a 32bit version of Windows 7.

Hi all,
I have upgraded all the other Windows Update for Windows 7.

I uninstalled my IE 9 following the suggestion at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2872074 .

I have also updated the Intel HD 4000 graphic card driver.

I have also followed the suggestions in FIX Error Code 9C59: Internet Explorer Installation failed (IE10, IE11) - wintips.org - Windows Tips & How-tos . This includes deleting the folder at C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution .

I have tried to install the IE11 through both "Windows Update" and through using the IE11 offline installer.

I have also downloaded and ran the System Update Readiness tool (DISM).

However, the same 9C59 Error appears whenever I tried to install

Computer: Fujitsu SH 572
Error: 9C59

Since the CBS files are ridiculously huge I have uploaded them to dropbox:https://www.dropbox.com/sh/f8g8wl5m8...BvrClgT_a?dl=0. I have also attached the IE11_main.log file for reference. Thanks loads

This is on a friends Lenovo B520 running Windows Home Premium 64 bit.

I've found that this PC has been failing to install updates for some time now. It's still running IE9 - I can see previous failed attempts at installing IE10 and now it's failing to install IE11 in the Windows update control panel.

I've run the SURT and sfc /scannow

The CHECKSUR.log lists 127 corrupt MUM and Cat files but I'm unable to locate good versions of these to start attempting repairs. I've attached just the log files from the CBS folder as including the CABs meant the attachment was too large.

Thanks for any help you can give.

A:Windows update fails to install IE11, error 9C57

Here's the summary from the CheckSUR log...

Code:
Summary:
Seconds executed: 4517
Found 254 errors
CBS MUM Corrupt Total count: 127
CBS Catalog Corrupt Total count: 127
Luckily, they all appear to relate to one update - or I'd have been reluctant to attempt anything short of a repair install.

The SFC results appear to have rolled off into the Persist files - please post the two latest CBSPersist files so I can take a look at them.

I'll post a fix for these file later (maybe tomorrow, though)

Hello Yesterday I found some spare time and I decided to upgrade my Windows TH build to the new Windows Anniversary Edition After the upgrade was complete I loaded IE as usual and browsed to mail yahoo gr to read my e-mail I then saw the quot classic quot Yahoo interface and a warning message at the top of the page stating that I see that because my browser is not supported classic Windows Yahoo interface 10 1607 mail IE11 and I should download and install another browser This is exactly what one sees when opening Yahoo mail from a browser such as IE with the important exception I was using IE Immediately I thought I had some compatibility setting for Yahoo screwing the modern interface and resorting to the classic I opened the Compatibility View there was nothing on the list until I noticed a check box in quot Use Microsoft Compatibility lists Yahoo mail classic interface IE11 Windows 10 1607 quot I tried to uncheck it and reload Yahoo mail that was it Now Yahoo Mail appears in the modern interface as it should So if you experience similar symptoms in a webpage try unchecking that box see photo below When I have more time and examine the new features or bugs of Windows Anniversary Edition I'll post again

Presence indicators display fine in IE11 on Win 7, but not in IE11 (or Edge) on Win 10, do however show in Outlook 2013 on Win 10. Applies to sites both in Intranet zone and trusted sites zone. Zones are managed through Group Policies. Compared
IE settings between Win 7 and Win 10 machines - no differences.
Applies both to onsite SharePoint 2007 site and SharePoint 365 site.
Both machines joined to Domain and in the same OU.

Hi Seen some very helpful posts on here whilst trying to resolve my issue mentioned above so thought I'd join up and see if anybody could advise on my issue Trying to install IE on a Windows bit machine with SP installed Machine previously had IE went to IE direct download from the website which resulted in an error saying it had failed to install Tried performing the update from Windows Update on system restart the machine had IE installed 64bit IE11 Error install 7 Windows won't Machine, on 9C59 with the error quot C quot having researched this error code it seems it's not very informative Microsofts suggestion for this code was to uninstall IE and try again I uninstalled IE tried again and then uninstalled IE tried again IE11 won't install on Windows 7 64bit Machine, Error 9C59 same result each time I then ensured all Pre-Requisite updates had been installed by manually checking each one from microsofts IE11 won't install on Windows 7 64bit Machine, Error 9C59 website then repeated the installation attempt no luck Ran the SUR tool which seems to indicate no issues Then SFC which has highlighted a few errors I've attached IE11 won't install on Windows 7 64bit Machine, Error 9C59 the CheckSUR log CheckSUR persist log and the SFC details from the CBS log Hopefully somebody has some pointers into how this issue can be resolved Thanks in advance your time and expertises are greatly appreciated

A:IE11 won't install on Windows 7 64bit Machine, Error 9C59

I'm no expert so wont try to read logs but Googling this as "ie11 install error 9c59" I would say you need to ensure two things. That you've done an Elevated Disk Cleanup (Tutorial Step 6 HERE) and ensure that your system is otherwise fully up to date. IE11 wont install until SP1 is installed and you haven't mentioned that. Is your system totally up to date otherwise?

SP1 installs easier if you disable any antivirus during the process.

A:Windows 7 and IE11 - inability to select 1080p video in Youtube

I see the same thing with IE11 on two different computers. Both fail to offer 1080p on a video that Chrome will play at 1080p. (but I'm not on my regular ISP at the moment).

Java has no bearing on the issue. I don't have the Flash add-on for IE11 on either of the two computers that I tested with.

I've never noticed this before - since I tend to play videos in Chrome.
