I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, Vendors now only sell the whole part. Please check the following list which shows all availabe parts for your machine: http://partsurfer.hp.com/Search.aspx?SearchText=L0T71UA If you only needed a small piece, you may have to buy whole part or working out part for that piece and search on eBay. Hi,
I would like to be able to add a media card reader to my 3010MT Optiplex Dell PC system. I noticed some machines were equipped with one 5.25" bay sharing a slim optical drive and media card reader in one bay.

What options do I have, do I have to change out my current optical drive or can I buy a media card reader that will fit with correct caddy etc in my current available 5.25" space below my optical drive.?

Basically wanted part numbers for 19 in 1 mcr for my 3010MT. Also, would a generic 5.25 device work?

Thanks

I have a superficial crack on the lid on my HP 15-p030NR Beats Special Edition notebook. I had some plastic welding done to keep the crack from spreading too much, but it has cracked again. The hinge seems to be unaffected. Display is also unaffected. There seems to be some damage to my wifi adapter since I got it patched by plastic welding- the driver malfunctions every now and then.  Now that the lid has cracked again over the welded spot, I want to just replace the part. I'm having problms locating the right product on the HP Part Surfer. I see Product # 764081-001 Base Cover Cap listed, but I'm unsure if it is compatible with my model. Please help! *pictures attached show laptop BEFORE plastic welding

I have a wireless modem connected to my main desktop in a downstairs room of my house (where my Comcast internet connection is located). The wireless connectivity is fine throughout the house for the most part.

However, if I want to connect to a slingbox to my tv upstairs which requires a hard wired ethernet connection, what are my options?

I will have no permanent computer upstairs.

Can I configure an access point for this or will I have to look at one of Cicso Power type options for this type of needed connection?

Hello,
I'm looking for the correct part number for a replacement keyboard(US style) for my laptop.
Product Name: G4S61UT
Description: HP 350 G1 NOTEBOOK PC
[personal information removed]

I checked the Part Surfer website and I am getting 758027-001. I ordered that keyboard but it's a few millimeters too short on each side.
I looked around the web and seeing that there are different version of this keyboard(the distrance from the edge to the nearest key):
- 0.2mm side edges and 0.5mm vertical edges
and
- 0.4mm side edges and 0.7mm vertical edges

My question is what is the replacement part number for the US style keyboard with wider side margins?

Thank you.

Cooling Fan is inoperative.  Receiving 90b error message. I plan to order a replacement fan, but need to determine which part number to order.  Per the Manual:  P/N 666527-001  (For use with computer models equipped with an AMD processor and a graphics subsystem with discrete memory)P/N 666526-001  (For use with computer models equipped with an AMD processor and a graphics subsystem with UMA memory)How do I tell if my laptop uses UMA or discrete memory?  The laptop has an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4530 Series graphics chip.  I understand that it has 512 MB of GDDR3 memory on the card. From this I assume that this system is considered to have discrete memory and therefore I should replace the fan with part number  666527-001. Please confirm the use of this part number or advise otherwise.  Thank you.

Hello folks,
At the risk of sounding thick.
I have a LaCie 500gb formatted with Fat32, this was for use with my PC AND PS3. I have about 150gb used. I now want to back up my pc to make some hardware changes but i cant back this up to my EHD because its formated to fat32. I don't have enough room on my HD to save the data from my EHD, format the EHD to ntfs and save it back.
Is it possible to format an EHD to part fat32 and part ntfs?
Or is my only alternative another EHD?
Thanks for any help

try Partition magic or Disk magic. You may be able to re-activate your partition with those. Otherwise you'll need a program to recover your files. I just used File Scavanger ($40) to recover files from a hard drive that got trashed from a major system failure. I regained 80% of my files, fortunately about 95% of my most important ones. Most of the other programs are $90 & up. Good luck and make your sister pay for these programs

Some sellers also say don't order by part number as the same number is used for different layouts and they have more than one part number listed for the same keyboard. The noise is usually caused by a failing fan motor bearing. You were at the wrong item name. What you need is the discrete thermal module, which contains the fan an heat sinks for the CPU and video. The part number for your notebook's product number is 682061-001. By the way you can do a bit better than this on price.  If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

Does anyone know a part number for the white plastic heatsink frame retainer 'screws' that were used in some of the GX270-era Optiplexes?  Or a source for buying replacements when they break?
Thanks in advance for any help.

A:Part number or replacement source for GX270 plastic heatsink retainers?

The GX270 part page does not list screws. All I can find is this but it is black and green?

Is this the correct picture?  Google is showing me a simpler adapter without the USB portion (i.e. passive adapter).  I wish to be able to use this to connect my dual-link DVI only monitor that is 2560x1440 to my laptop (radeon 8750m) which only has VGA or display port.  Is this the correct adapter?  The description does mention 2560x1600, but I'm a little skeptical due to the differring picture results from my Google search.

About 6 days ago my Ethernet cable and some of my USB ports stopped working so i called ASUS (my motherboard manufacturer) and the technition told me that the problem may be my powersupply. Sure enough when i bought a new one it worked. But what I also have noticed is that now other things on my computer are dieing. My DVD drive can not read most disks, the only one i was able to get it to read was Minority Report, and just yesterday windows explorer stopped working on my computer even after a restart. i looked online and found that this could be because windows cant find hardware that should be there. i dont know what to do. im getting the vista disk from a friend today to reinstall but i have a feeling that thats not the problem.

A:Dell Inspiron 15 5547 DC Power Jack Socket Port and Cable - replacement part in UK???

Hi JS246 ,
What is the exact issue on the system? Have you checked with another Dell OEM power adapter? Is the current adapter working fine? Is the adapter frayed?
If you have isolated the source to be indeed the dc power cable, then assuming there is no warranty on the machine, you could contact our team to get a quote for a paid service call - http://dell.to/1vnT6CQ
If you are looking to replace the parts yourself, then you could contact a 3rd party Dell parts seller - http://bit.ly/28SYFVc- they ship parts to UK. Or check on Amazon UK - http://amzn.to/28QNXQ0
Write me a private conversation with the service tag and your contact details(Name and Email) for case records.
Let us know if you have any other queries.

Anyone out there have a spare Compaq laptop motherboard P/N 311282-001 for under 250$? This is for a Presario 1500 that has only 1 problem - the small power button lead (not the plastic bezel portion you push down on but the part afixed to the MB) has snapped of making it not power on.

Either that or does anyone know who does MB refurbishment cheap enough to get a new power button connected onto this one? Other than this one problem its in pristine shape and I can't see spending the 400-700$ I am finding this MB part online for a simple power button being snapped off.

(And no I didn't break it so don't tell me to stop being heavy handed the user already got chastized I am just trying to save a few bucks on the companies investment.)

Alright here is my issue as best as I can explain it. I have two drives, one with a system partition one with my boot. The one with the boot is the drive I want to use as my primary. I want to format the drive with the system partition.

How can I move the sys partition to the boot drive so that I can format the other since right now disk management will not let me format the drive with the sys partition.

Picture for more info
Disk 3/Vol6 is what I want to save and align sys/boot too. Disk 4/Vol7 is what I want to format.
Thanks a lot!

A:Help! got "Windows Repair" Rogue virus now part of C: drive gone!

Update: I clicked show hidden folders and the things that were gone have now re-appeared as hidden folders/files. The things that disappeared that are now back are as follows. The desktop background is still black and the dock is still not there on the right.

Under Computer --> Libraries

Documents, Music, Pictures, Videos which had previously disappeared are now back. All the folders/files in these categories are hidden.

Under Computer --> OS (C:)

the folders - dell, Drivers, Intel, Program Files (x86Digidesign, ProgramData, PSQLINSTALL, TDSSKiller_Quarantine, temp, and viruscleaner have all re-appeared as hidden folders. All the sub folders and files within these folders are also hidden.

A few folders in Program Files (x86) re-appear as hidden, and some folders that were not hidden, but empty before I clicked show hidden files/folders such as Program Files (x86) --> Image-Line now have all the sub-folders shown as hidden.

I attempted to run several programs from my C drive to see if they would still work. I tried to run Pokerstars and it would not launch, got the error "Unable to get latest software version from this server Error code -2/-79 Please contact support @ pokerstars . com
I also tried running FL Studio (I assure you this is a legitimate, purchased copy..proof of purchase can be confirmed with image-line.com) and I got the "FL Studio engine launcher has stopped working" when I try to launch it, I'll also get an application error if I click cancel while it's "searching for a solution" which reads "Exception EStringListError in module FLEngine.dll at 0001E3D1". Then when I click OK to close that box I get another error that reads, FL Studio "Cannot create file "C:\Program Files (x86)\Image-Line\FL Studio 9.8 beta\System\Config\Browser\Snap1.scr". Access is denied.

However, I did just now try taking the whole Image-Line folder off of hidden and tried launching FL studio and it started up fine with no errors. So the issue with Pokerstars not launching I'm guessing was just due to it being hidden.

Lastly...I picked up the Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit "Reinstallation DVD" this morning, so if need be I have it here ready to use.

Everything I download ends up with a exe.part file. It's never just .exe. I tried download registry cleaners and what not but I cant open any of the files. Everything online says download this program to fix .part files but those files are also .part . Anyone know anything about this issue that can help direct me on a clear path to fixing it. Im not to computer savvy. But some clear information would help. Thanks a lot!

A:Need help with .Part

What browser are you using?

.part is usually the extension given to a file that is currently downloading and is then renamed after completion. Are you sure all the downloads are actually completing 100%?

Have you tried removing/removing the file to remove the .part? ie rename "file/exe.part" to "file.exe"

I am trying to play a video. The audio is AC3 and plays fine, but the video looks like a television with poor vertical hold combined with a rainbow. No picture really, just colorful rolling horizontal lines. The video for it is something called H.264 which I thought I had but apparently do not. I have amassed a large codec collection but apparently needed this one. I thought maybe someone will read this with the same problem and have it solved.

Take out your ram and use an eraser to clean the contact points, and reinsert it. Try with just ONE stick of ram in.

Also recheck your PSU connections to the motherboard.

Have you tried scaning for virusses - i had a similar problem with explore, you could try using mcafee's free scan program - check for viruses and then try 2 reinstall explorer (try a repair)

Your Malwarebytes Anti-Malware log indicates you are using an outdated database version. Please update it through the program's interface (preferable method) or manually download the definition updates and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install. Then perform a new Quick Scan in normal mode and check all items found for removal. Don't forgot to reboot afterwards. Failure to reboot normally (not into safe mode) will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware. When done, click the Logs tab and copy/paste the contents of the new report in your next reply.Your database shows 1945. Last I checked it was 2031.alternate mbam-rules.exe download link 1alternate mbam-rules.exe download link 2Mbam-rules.exe is not updated daily. Another way to get the most current database definitions if you're having problems updating, is to install MBAM on a clean computer, launch the program, update through MBAM's interface, copy the definitions (rules.ref) to a USB stick or CD and transfer that file to the infected machine. Copy rules.ref to the location indicated for your operating system. If you cannot see the folder, then you may have to Reconfigure Windows to show it.XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareVista: C:\Documents and Settings\Users\All Users\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

Hi,

Twice now, I have downloaded iTunes, version 8 I believe, and I see the progress line go all the way across in the Downloads window and the installer appears on my Desktop as iTunesSetup.exe.part. It won't open and when I look at Properties, under General Tab it shows as having 0 bytes and in the Details tab, it shows as having 1.55 mb.

How do I get this app to download in full? Thanks!

A:exe.part ??

.part is a suffix added to a filename by firefox's default download manager, the fact that it's all you see means firefox isn't properly compiling the file after the download completes.

While I'm pretty sure that's why, I don't know what the fix might be. If you have downloaded other large-ish files with Firefox before without issue then I would suggest just using IE to download the file. If Firefox won't compile anything I'd either update or reinstall the browser software.

Hello

Where does this message come from? Since it has 'Enter Setup' as an option, I'm guessing it is not part of the system bios. Is it part of the motherboard or the OS (Windows 8.1)? I get this window when I press the delete key during bootup on my ASUS A55V laptop. When I disable Secure Boot and enable Launch CMS I get additional options to boot to ie; the CD/DVD and my thumb drives. I have learned much from this forum...I'm glad I found it

JustDave

A:Is this part of the OS?

Probably the delete key enters in the "Boot Media Selector", what is a feature of the BIOS. In most ASUS boards the key is F8, maybe yours is different.

A:VX2 and CWS Part 2...its back!

You may have one of the newer infections, which takes a bit to remove, but we won't know until we have done the following:

Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. Restart your computer. After we are finished with your log file and verified that it's clean, you may turn it back on and create a new restore point.

Please download Ad-aware SE and install it if you don't have it already. Make sure it's the newest version and check for any updates before running it. Also go here to get the plug-in for fixing VX2 variants. To run this tool, go into Ad-aware->Add-ons and select VX2 Cleaner. Then click Run Tool and OK to start it. If it's clean, it will say Status System Clean. Otherwise, you will have to click on the Clean button to remove the VX2 infection. Also make sure to customize the settings in Ad-aware for better scan results. Run the scan and fix everything that it finds.

If you have a fast internet connection (broadband), run an online virus scan at TrendMicro. Make sure to select the Autoclean option. Otherwise, make sure your antivirus program has the latest definitions and run a full system scan.

Open a new HJT log and check all of the below to be fixed:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = c:\winxp\system32\blank.htm
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar,LinksFolderName =
O1 - Hosts: 69.20.16.183 auto.search.msn.com

O1 - Hosts: 69.20.16.183 ieautosearch
O1 - Hosts: 69.20.16.183 ieautosearch

Then, with all browser windows closed, click "fix checked".

Reboot and post a new HJT log.

Here is a challenge for you excel gurus. I want to double click cell F5 and find a specific string (" - ") in the file name and insert everything to the right of it in cell E7 without the extension, which is always xlsm. Anybody have any ideas?
This is what I have so far:

Private Sub Worksheet_BeforeDoubleClick(ByVal Target As Range, Cancel As Boolean)
If Intersect(Target, Range("f5")) Is Nothing Then Exit Sub
fname = ActiveWorkbook.Name
Range("e7").Value = Mid(ActiveWorkbook.Name, InStr(ActiveWorkbook.Name, " - ") + 3, 30)
Cancel = True
End Sub

If you have not done so, include a clear description of the problems you're having, along with any steps you may have performed so far.Upon completing the steps below I will review and take the steps necessary with you to get your machine back in working order clean and free of malware.STEP 1 - MBAMNote: In the event that you already have MBAM installed, you do not need to reinstall it. Simply Updating it and doing a Quickscan is sufficient. Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (v1.44) and save it to your desktop.Download Link 1Download Link 2MBAM may "make changes to your registry" as part of its disinfection routine. If using other security programs that detect registry changes (ie Spybot's Teatimer), they may interfere or alert you. Temporarily disable such programs or permit them to allow the changes.Make sure you are connected to the Internet.Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application. For instructions with screenshots, please refer to the How to use Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Guide. When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings. When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:Update Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareLaunch Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareThen click Finish.MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan.If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the definition updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install. On the Scanner tab:Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected. Then click on the Scan button. If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button. The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient. When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.Back at the main Scanner screen:Click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad. The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply. My computer has been running very slow of recent.

For certain reasons i booted up using the XP Installation disk yesterday. I received a message saying that XP was part installed and did i want to remove it or repair it.

I chose to repair and not long after starting, i receive a message saying that a certain file was corrupt and could not continue.

Could this be the reason behind why its running really slow?

Hello,

I bought a Dell Inspiron Duo in December 2011, and it has been fine up until a couple of weeks ago, when the 2 OS's that were installed (Windows 7 Home Premium & Windows 8 Consumer Preview) had suddenly disappeared, so I got hold of Windows 7 Ultimate, but when I went to install it, I realised that the 320GB that I had before had gone down to just 298GB, as well as losing all of my files and programs, this space does not show up in any partitioning programs either, it just shows the single partition with Windows 7 Ultimate on it.

Is there any way to get this unusable space back, or am I stuck with a smaller hard drive?

Thanks in advance,
Connor

A:Part of HDD Unusable

welcome to Seven Forums. What size hard drive is it and how much space does it show? 298Gb is the correct formatted size for a 320GB hard drive. Do you have an OS installed now? If so please right click computer, select manage, in the left column select disk management, expand the screen so we can see the top and bottom and post a screenshot.

A:crazysoccerboy HJT log part (2)

Please don't post your log in someone else's thread!

You have an outdated version of HijackThis. Click here to get the latest version of HijackThis.

Download and install Spybot S&D. Run Spybot and click on the 'Search for Updates' button. Install any updates that are available. Next click on the 'Check for Problems' button. Let it run the scan. If it finds something, check all those in RED and hit the Fix Selected Problems button. Exit Spybot. If you keep getting the DSO Exploit entries, even after you updated Windows and fixed them, then download the Spybot DSO Exploit Fix and install it over the current Spybot installation.

The Temp folders should be cleaned out periodically as installation programs and hijack programs leave a lot of junk there. Download CleanUp! (Alternate Link if main link don't work) and install it. Run CleanUp! and click on CleanUp! button. When it asks you if you want to logoff, click on Yes.

Post a fresh HJT log. There will be another round to come.

A:What is taskeula.exe (part II)

I can find no info on taskeula.exe but it's residing in the Config folder which should be empty anyway so it's not needed as it isn't a windows file. Disable system restore and try the following.

Reboot into Safe Mode (hit F8 key until menu shows up).

Make sure to close any open browsers. Go into HijackThis->Config->Misc. Tools->Open process manager. Select the following and click Kill process for each one if they are still listed (they shouldn't be but make sure)

C:\WINDOWS\Config\taskeula.exe

Check and fix the following in HijackThis if they still exist ..

C:\WINDOWS\Config\taskeula.exe

Delete the following Files/Folders in red according to their directory (if none, just do a search for them) and delete them if they exist.

C:\WINDOWS\Config\taskeula.exe
C:\Program Files\nzsearch\nzsearchenh.dll
C:\DOCUME~1\FETROF~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\alueksat.dat **Note** Empty your TEMP files and clear your cache. There should be NO .DAT files in the TEMP folder listed.

Run MSconfig from the start..run box and see if C:\WINDOWS\Config\taskeula.exe is a startup item. If so..uncheck it and click OK. If it's there you will need to enter the registry and remove the keys associated with taskeula.exe. Make sure you back it up first before your attempt in case of a mistake.

Reboot into Normal Mode and post a new HijackThis log when your done. Please keep ALL your posts concerning this issue in one thread as it's hard to tell what others have helped you with since your posts are all over the place...thanks!

Afterthought::: Is your copy of windows legit and activated?? taskeula.exe could be a Task file for Electronic Users Legal Agreement which MS uses to protect their products.

I have just gone over to XP SP2, (from SP1 !!!!!), and I keep getting the odd site only part opening, i.e. it qotes, "Done", at the bottom left but ther is no sign of the site. Also, the odd picture does not open, just a blank pane with the red cross top left. Can it be a security setting somewhere ?

Hey guys,

I'm having video issues. Shadows in games are dis-colored (red/brown/green shadows), edges are pointy, massive pop-in, etc. I'd put this in the games section, except even watching youtube, the video is messed up with messed up shadows - basically put, my video is crewed up horribly in all aspects from videos to games.

Now, I've switched out my video card and the card is not the problem, the issues persist even trying a different video card.

So, what other parts could be causing this issue? I don't know a lot about computers but I assume RAM/Processor can't cause such major video issues, and it is the mobo where the video card connects?

Please let me know, I just want to replace whatever part could be making this problem happen, it's not the video card.

Microsoft XP support ending April 2014 and my 23739FU T41 won't run Windows 7 or 8 and I don't like Vista so I am forced to replace my bullet-proof T41.  I don't know how to keep it and make upgrades to update O.S..  Don't know which Thinkpad to buy so starting with basic QUESTION: Has Lenovo kept the solid look and feel of the T41 keyboard?  The key relief and rock solid feel of the T41 keyboard is a favorite attribute of the model.  I don't like the "mushy" and flat feel on keyboards of some other makes like Dell.  Can anyone here tell me if and how the keyboards on newer Thinkpads compare with my 2004 vintage T41 23739FU?

Solved!
Go to Solution.

A:Hate to part with my T41 but.....

The T61 is a nice choice, it has a similar keyboard and is a landmark model being the first to be fully 64bit, dual core, support 8gb ram, SATA2 support can be enabled, last model available in 4:3 aspect and one of the last in 16:10.  Selecting the proper one is important, you're probably best going with Intel graphics, but if you want nVidia I'd be prepared to pay more and get one from an expert that can certify it was manufactured after the nVidia problems were fixed and still has the original system board. From a reliable source you can expect to pay anywhere from $200 (or less) for a low-end model upto $400 or more for a high-end model with the more reliable gpu chip. Of course prices will vary by location, condition and other factors. Alternately you might want to consider trying Vista, it's really not a bad operating system. The problems it had back in 2006 have long been fixed and when updated it's not much different than windows Seven really. I have Verizon FIOS wireless router for my internet service I have computers wirelessly getting internet from it - desktop - laptops - iPad the latest to be connected It seems ever since my iPad came on board my desktop has been slower Question? 2-Part to get to the 2-Part Question? webpages amp often freezing Here's the nd issue I don't remember if this was before or after I wirelessly connected my iPad I think BEFORE but my desktop screen of my desktop went all black but the icons are still there The message box says to activate with my key code My code's back at my parents' house so I don't know when I'll get that CD-ROM Which has to do with my suddenly slow freezing desktop My new iPad making it the th computer hooked up with this router OR that the Windows Vista wants activation for some unknown reason to me What do I need to do Who's tech support do I call to get my desktop moving faster again internet provider OR Microsoft people

A:2-Part Question?

The iPad has nothing to do with your desktop freezing or being slow.
Freezing is usually caused by overheating or a Failing Power Supply Unit. Shut down the desktop and open the side and clean out all dust and blow out all fans with a can of compressed air. Take a look at the label for the PSU and report the make, model# and Wattage in your next post. Start the computer and make sure all fans are spinning.
You can also try a Clean Boot. If this works, add one startup item at a time until you find the culprit.
As for Activation
1. Click Start, and in the Search box type: slui.exe 4
2. Press ENTER on your Keyboard
3. Select your Country.
4. Take the Phone Activation option, and call the Number and hold on for a real person.

This is my PC. Can someone recommend me which part needs upgrading?

A:Which part should I upgrade for my PC?

If possible could you try to upgrade the motherboard and ram together? Go with 2 sticks of ram so you can do dual channel. And a better motherboard would give you more future upgrade options.

Hello i had given my girlfriend my old computer and of course.... (i think she broke it LOL) So it will not turn on. I know the power supply is working because the light comes on, i do not think i could see a light on the mother board and i was sure it had one to tell that it was getting pwer to it. I guess it could be the cpu but i doubt it.

So in trying to figure out what is wrong, is there a guess? I assume the memory could stop it from running but it doesnt make sence, would the logical thing be that the mother board blew out? It is a little older DFI mother board.

Any help would be grateful as she is begging me to fix it but i dont want to but 700 bucks worth of stuff and it be the one thing and be out of the money lol.

A:Which part could be blown?

Hey Devonsteele

From what you've said it sounds like a Motherboard issue.... might be a power surge problem. Either way, you'd have to take it in to get it tested.... don't think there's any way around this one.

Good luck

Hi hsaj. . .

Welcome to the Tech Support Forum - Vista Support!

If you would like to dive down into your system and look for some minidumps, I may be able to help you with a possible solution to your system's two day BSOD binge.

Each time a BSOD appears it [should] leaves a memory dump behind that I can run through a debugger and hopefully give you information related to the most probable cause. So... please get those dumps, copy them to your desktop via Windows Explorer. Once on your desktop, you can zip them all and attach a single zip file to your next post (preferred). If zipping them is not an option for you, then upload the individual dump files and attach to an email and send it to "TSFjcgriff2*at*hotmail.com".

The files should be located in c:\windows\minidump\ and will be named similar to "Mini031708-01.dmp". Get them all - regardless of the number.

Regards. . .

Hello I'm so glad I found this forum my name is John and I don't know much about computers other than some basic Mac stuff I am however a mentor moderator on another unrelated forum Anyway I had aHP laptop windows xp sp I think and I seemed to download a trojan or at least some adware I believe from a myspace question... 2 part application because it crashed as soon as I opened it and then the pc started acting goofy on the restart freezing redirect windows pop-ups I already had McAfee Security 2 part question... So when I installed the virus or whatever McAfee was already installed and I called them and they wanted money to help me I thought that was crazy considering I bought their three pc license version of their so called total protection so I searched other means of trying to fix the problem I then downloaded cyberdefender pc tools doctor something and malwarebytes All three scanned and showed tons of infections like over - range they would delete them but then they came back it seemed to be related to the found trojans one was the Vundo or whatever and the other was some kind of injector trojan 2 part question... Actually the malwarebytes was the only one that was finally able to get rid of them or at least the scanners said they were gone But after the scan and restart I couldn't get much done because the computer kept freezing at start 2 part question... up and wouldn't let me do anything so I got fed up and sent my pc to a local pc guy He says he thinks the motherboard is going out because of the pc shutting down with out warning And told me I should buy a new pc so I did So my questions I have read and done some research on here and I'm wondering Do you think my motherboard is fried Or could it be compatibility issues with the pc doctor and McAfee at start up Or even possible infections still present I was able to remove the cyberdefender before the freezing problems because I heard it was questionable But I did still have spysweeper running in my task manager I don't even know where that came from And I have McAfee and Malwarebytes installed on my new computer Is that ok Because I now realize the McAfee may not be bad it just isn't very good at adware malware right Please advise Thank you And sorry this is so long

A:2 part question...

It may have been the virtumonde trojan? Not sure. And I don't have that pc back from the local guy yet... I should get it back tomorrow.

I just want to know if there is other possibilities, before I go trashing that one. And try to educate myself with protection options for my new one.

Thanks for your help.

Hi,
this is the second part of calvary I've been going through. The quick story is in link belove:
BSOD on restarting W7 64 bit and surfing in IE

But I will write it here in short, HP ProBook 4440s (altho it was 4540s before motherboard gone), now just when I've thought that I've passed BSOD's appeared while I was trying to use USB 3.0. Then few days after I gave up and went again installing everything from start, Windows 7 64 bit, step by step drivers and when it came to USB 3.0 and just after finish BSOD struck. I've thought that it is cause drivers from HP page are old, then I've tried uninstall them and install again, but same thing happened, same bug check, parameter.

Dump file:

A:BSOD USB 3.0 second part...

This time BSODs are indicating to USB3 drivers.

And the driver is somehow old.

Search in HP for any possible updates. Search in Intel too.

For any further issue, post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions and upload the list of all the third party drivers Using NirSoft DriverView :
Download and execute Driverview
View > Hide Microsoft Drivers
Edit > Select all
File > Save Selected Items
In the Save dialog, Set the path to desktop, Put "Driverview" in the name field, and save.
Zip the .txt file and upload it.

Could you please have a look at my system specs and give an opinion on what part i should consider upgrading next.

Could i please have an answer

A:What part should i upgrade first.

Hi,

I would definately upgrade the RAM first - 1GB is barely adequate to run Windows 7 in all its glory. 4GB of DDR3 RAM would be ideal for 32 bit Windows 7, but make sure its compatible with your motherboard.

Regards,
Golden

1. I use my computer for trading. I am concerned about the consequences if my hard drive failed..and the ordeal of loading a new hard drive. I would like to install a second hard drive and update essential data to it. Question: is it necessary for both hard drives to be identical in make and storage capacity?

2. Does Microsoft permit me to install Windows XP onto the second hard drive, since it is on the same computer?

A:2 Part question

Hmmm, the first one is easy. If the hard drives are of similar but not exact size it wont matter. So long as the second drive is of sufficient capacity to hold what you plan to move to it.

The second question is a brain teaser, if it is on the same computer but a different hard drive one would think that it may be alright. But in the EULA it states that you are permitted a single installation on a single computer unless of course you have a multiple license version and have paid for the second or more license. So it kind of contradicts the first part. If you do a second installation it will ask you to Activate it again and you will probably run into a problem there. Of course you could try the installation then when you run into the activation problem it will prompt you to do the activation over the phone. you could ask them about it there. if the Microsoft answer is NO then you would just uninstall windows.

Here is another possible way, if you are just looking to back up your hard drive for safety then you can use a program like Ghost, or even the software that comes with a new hard drive should allow you to make a ghost image of the old drive.
