Preferred Solution: I want to change my email password back to my old password

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Windows 10 automatically attempted to sync my email information when I initially setup my computer. The problem is that is has an incorrect password (I have no idea what it is or where it came from). I've changed the password every way I can think of, I've deleted the account many times and even restarted my computer to no avail. The incorrect password automatically returns. Does anyone have any wisdom to impart on how to change this incorrect password so that my account will sync?

Hi group, I recently installed Win 8 and it asked for an email address and password, I used my Hotmail account and password but when I clicked OK an error message came back saying that I couldn't use the Hotmail account.
I then used my ISP domain email addy but now I can't sign onto sky or synch etc because it is not a Live email account.
I have set up a separate Hotmail account but how do I get rid of the original email address and change it for my live account ....... very frustrating

A:How do you change initial email and password

Hello Biro, and welcome to Eight Forums.

One option would be to create a new Microsoft account with this new address, change the account type to be an adminstrator, log out of the old account, sign in to your new account, then delete the old account.

OR

Another option would be to use the tutorial below to change the email address for your Microsoft account.

Microsoft Account - Change Email Address in Windows 8
Hope this helps,

Recently I got a email from "Mail Delivery System <[email protected]>" in which it said that the email that I was trying to send was not send, and the email content was typical SPAM ("Hi, Look what I've just found for you, you'll be surprised, more info here <Spam link here> ") . So I got worried and tried to change my password but when I go to Yahoo account info --> Account security, and click on change password nothing happens just the page reloads.

Just scanned my pc with malwarebytes no malware found.

PS In the recent activity of Yahoo info I have my account connected to several email applications that are from different countries.

Our Windows 7 users are prompted when their passwords will expire in 14 Days, however They are not forced to change thier password before it expires. If the users ignore the expiration warning they can only get logged into the network after having the helpdesk
reset thier password.
Is there a way to force Windows 7 users to change thier passwords on the day it expires. Our WinXP users get the 14 day warning and are forced to change thier passwords on day 14.
I have the GPO configured to notifiy users when thier passwords will expire in 14 days
Thank you,
Glen

A:Windows 7 Expired Password - Recvd Warning prompts but not forced to change password

Hi,

After applying above settings, the user can change the password by default at the expire day. Please create a new domain profile and test the issue on several Windows
7 machines. Can the user be enforced to change password at expire day? If not, please refer to the following steps to collect the information for research.

1. On the DC, open GPMC, right-click Group Policy Results, choose Group Policy Results Wizard, follow the wizard to collect a Group Policy result for problematic
Windows 7 client.

2. On the Windows 7 machine where GPO failed to apply, please perform the following steps to collect log files:

a) Please add the specified registry key to enable group policy log (%windir%\debug\usermode\gpsvc.log), and remove or rename it to disable group policy log after
collecting data. You may need to create the Diagnostics key if it is not there.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Diagnostics

Type: DWORD

Value: GPSvcDebugLevel

Data: 0x30002 (hexadecimal)

b) Then on the problematic Win7 machine, run command “gpupdate /force”.

c) Then on the problematic Win7 machine, run command “gpresult /v > gpr_win7.txt”, send me gpr_win7.txt file.

d) On the problematic Win7 machine, run command “eventvwr”, then expand to Applications and service logs -> Microsoft -> windows -> groupPolicy
-> Operational. Right-click on it and click “save event as”. Save the file as .evtx format and send it to me.
e) After that, please send me the above output files. (please zip them first and then send them to me).

- %windir%\debug\usermode\gpsvc.log
- gpr_win7.txt
- win7.evtx

Please use Windows Live SkyDrive (http://www.skydrive.live.com/) to upload the GPMC
result and the zip files, and then give us the download address.

Thanks,
Novak

You are speaking about BIOS password which you set up in the BIOS?
As far as I know you cannot remove the BIOS password if you don?t know the old BIOS password.
In such case just the Toshiba ASP could help you? just the Toshiba ASP technician could remove the unknown BIOS password

A:Seperate Windows Account, Email Password From PC Password

Hello Majestone, and welcome to Eight Forums.

You can sign in to Windows 8 with any "local account" or "Microsoft account" you want.

You do not have to setup a "Microsoft account" when installing or setting up Windows 8.1. A trick to this would be to temporarily disconnect the internet when you get to this point to then be able to setup a "Local account" instead.

If you want a Microsoft account, then you could have two Microsoft accounts, and use one to sign in to Windows 8 with and the other for your emails.

Either way, you could easily switch to a local account afterwards.
Local Account - Switch to in Windows 8
...or switch back to any Microsoft account you wanted instead.
Microsoft Account - Switch to in Windows 8
Hope this helps,
Shawn

I've created a password for the guest account. Now I can neither change nor remove it.

Logging on as admin I can't find a setting to change or remove guest account's password.

Logging on as guest I am getting the "windows cannot change password" warning if I try to change or remove it.

On guest account using ctrl+alt+del>"change password", now I get a "access is denied" warning.

Any kind of help would be appreciated. Thanks.

PS: The whole issue has started with me seeing a warning on Bitdefender's Vulnerability module telling that the guest account has no password. I clicked on it and created a password for my guest account from within BD. That doesn't necessarily have to be related with the problem, just FYI.

A:Password Change / Remove Password Problem

uninstall bitdefender first, then reboot, next go to control panel, User Accounts and Family safety, User Accounts, select change your windows passwords and remove password from guest account and any other accounts you wish. Then reboot.

I am a newbie with Windows 8, so I am trying to teach myself how to use Windows 8.1 via a virtual machine on Windows 7.

I set up the user account using my Microsoft email account. I would like to use a different password on my desktop vs the email password. My email password since it is accessible via web is strong 16 characters long, random characters password and changed often. I would like to change the desktop password to something I can remember, still strong, but I don't change it as often since you have to get physical access to my desktop.

I assumed once I linked to the Microsoft account I could change the password on the machine without it changing my email password.

Is this not possible? I would prefer not to have to lower the security of my email account just to accommodate Windows 8. Never a problem before as my email clients stored the password.

So I've enabled password protected sharing for Windows 7 (for my first computer).

So now, when I used my second computer to access my first computer's shared files, it obviously prompted me with a password.
My question is, I don't know what's the username and password for that. I was wondering if someone can help me to find my username and password (or guide to reset this password) so my second computer can access the shared files with my first computer while preserving the password security.

A:How To Change The Password On "Password Protected File Sharing"

Use the username and password that you use when you log onto the first computer.

If that does not work, try
user = computername\user
password = password

...where computername = the name of the first computer.

At present I have my WIN 7 set to Boot up without a Password. I would now like to change that siuation back to a "Password Required" Boot.

How do I go about this ?

I have tried going into User Accounts >Change Passwords where I get the three boxes "Current Password", "Change Password" and "Confirm New Password" all blank as expected.

Its what happens next that has me puzzled.

I tried leaving the "Current Password" blank , entered a new Password into the "Change Password" box and re-entered this into the last Box .

I now get the message " The password you typed is incorrect. Please re-type your new Password"

What to do here ?

A:How To Change a "No-Password" Bootup Back to a "Password "Bootup ?

You might have windows set up to not require a password or automatically login (stored password), so you still would need to enter the password you had entered when installing windows. This is just a guess though don't hold me to this

You can change the password manually as often as you want from with in the OS of windows 8/8.1. You only need to be connected to the internet so MS can verify this action taken is from you.

If you are using a Microsoft account (Windows 8), you can reset it online. However, if it's only a local account, you may need to reinstall Windows.

Brought here today due to an intensely annoying new trick from Microsoft I could not login to my own computer today and nearly ran out of re-tries before I realised that Mr Gates had changed my Password change local machine password to be the same as my Microsoft account probably because yesterday I expanded my activity to be more than just OneDrive and using MS Office apps - I went to the Microsoft Store Password change what a distortion of user-friendly site design and use and purchased an App So what can I do I want my MS account at the store to have one PW and my local to have a PW which is something else entirely Can someone tell me how to do this Until yesterday's opening of an account at the store I was able to have an entirely different password for signing in to Live account and to Outlook online While I am here can anyone tell me the correct way to do a search on the MS Store I read about using Win C but that is not reliable and does not work if there is something on your computer which is same or similar named One of the things I was referring to in the comment about the awfulness of the Store

I suggest you use a local account as your computer's sign-in option. After logging on to Windows 10 as local account, you should be prompted to type your email password to sign-in to Microsoft Store.

How often should one change password?? Thank you. YOYO

A:Change Password

Depends on password to WHAT?Passwords to sensitive data or secure applications should probably be changed at least every 6 months- - -more often if you share the computer with others or habitually get a lot of malware on your computer. These passwords should never be kept on the computer itself, but written down and kept in a secure location away from the computer.Regards,John

Hello,
I have a weird situation here. I have a user on a domain that has changed their password this morning. After they have log in, she is getting a popup in the taskbar saying that her password will expire in 2 days. I though that after she has changed her password,
it would reset the counter. It's not. Is there a way to fix this? All of our computers are joined to the domain and she is the only one that is having this issue.

Hello Peter,

Usually, it doesn't take very long or up to 24 hours at most if the PC has an internet connection.

Are you able to directly sign in on the PC to see if it will sync then?

I tried to change from the USER CP but that does not work.

If you are able to login, go to User CP, click edit Email & Password and change them from there. What do you mean it does not work? The save changes button is inactive? It rejects your new password?

You need to log into the router's administration page (you can do this by connecting to the router by ethernet cable and typing in a web address that you can probably get by googling for the router's brand on google). From there you can change the security code.

I was attempting to change the password but it seemed that it had already been changed, even though the very same day I used the same password to open my OS.....? So I tried many different passwords that I have used in the past but nothing worked. The next morning I went back on the computer to see if I could change the password again and miraculously the password was back to what it had been for the past 3months. Also, NOBODY has access to my computer... at least from the front door.

Any ideas what that might be?

NOTE: When I went to sleep I just turned off the monitor and closed out all windows. That's how I was able to try again in the morning.

A:How do you change your wi-fi password on the Acer ...

Your wi-fi password needs to be changed from the router settings. Typically you can access that my entering this URL in your favorite web browser. Be sure you're using a PC/Laptop or your personal Mobile device that is already connected to the network to access this web address.http://192.168.0.1, then continue to log in to your Router with either the Username and Password that may be located on your router, or if it's a personal router you're using such as a D-Link/Linksys/Netgear or so on just leave it blank as you see it and log in.From there locate the Wireless settings and you should see your current Wi-Fi password and the options or blank boxes where you can enter the new password you wish to use. Apply the settings and then using the Acer Quick Access, enter the new information and it should have no problems connecting to your Wi-Fi.

Hello, I am a coop student working for a company that has off-site employees logging on to the domain over VPN on Windows XP. We are getting a lot of helpdesk requests from these users regarding password changes. When users attempt to manually change their passwords over VPN by pressing CTRL ALT DEL and going to the change password option they are able to enter their current password and new password. However, after they have clicked the "OK" button to accept the new password, they get an error message saying they could not connect to the Domain.

This is becoming a big problem, as many of the users are being locked out due to their passwords expiring, and a lot of work is being created for the the helpdesk employees. Any help you could provide would be very welcome. Even if you had some perspective on what exactly the issue is, I would be very grateful

My PC is not on the company's domain when I boot, it's a stand alone PC.

Any thoughts welcome!

This can be entered as 5 or 13ascii characters or 10 or 26 hexadecimal characters." HUH?

A:change my router password

Just enter 26 characters in the range of 0-9 or A-F, and use the same key on any connecting devices. I recommend ONLY hex keys using WEP encryption.

Any reason you don't use WPA? What is the make/model of the router and all the wireless machines?

The only suggestion I've seen to avoid this issue is to turn off password expiration entirely which I can't do However the endless prompts to change my password are driving me nuts Here's the message Your password is going to expire in 'n' days Would you like to change it now Generally this defaults to days and a Windows computer will ask me if I want to change my password - every single time the computer is restarted over the next days Here's the crazy thing if I set my password to expire in days I want to change my password in days not days days At the very least I would appreciate one of those handy quot do not ask me again quot options so that I'm not prompted again until the days has passed This is one of the most-annoying features of Windows close behind the User Account Control which asks me if I'm really sure I want to run some program I mean after clicking a link choosing to download the file when prompted and clicking quot Run quot in that dialog window if using IE I might not be certain I wanted to run the Change prompt password executable right

A:how do i change my network password?

You would need to go to the router setup page using your internet browser.
You should be able find instructions at the router manufacturers website
support section.
If you don't remember the router login, you should find instructions to
reset it at the website also.
The password should be under the wireless settings, but you can
just run the setup wizard and go through the steps to set it up again.

You are not authorized to change password.

We are on a windows 2000 domain with the latest service packs and updates.

Our users are on Windows XP professional.
When first logging on the users are required to change their password.

They receive the error "You are not authorized to change password."

Has anyone seen this? Does anyone know a solution?

We did receive a patch from Microsoft to fix this error but it doesn't seem to be working.

Unfortunately, if you already set a password, you'll need to remember what you set it to in order to change it, or the router will have to be reset to default values. You'll find information regarding your router set up in the user's manual that should have come with it, or at the online website for the manufacturer.

That is all the help we can give in assisting passwords, per the forum rules. I will close this thread now.

welcome to TSG.

Unfortunately, we cannot (generally) assist with password, but there are a few exceptions.

Can you boot into windows at all? Where are you hitting the password prompt? If you never set one, just leave it blank and go past it.

One of our boxes(W2000pro) on our LAN is configured as a simple file server. But every month, the damn thing automatically request a password change. The computer in question is without monitor or keyboard and is used as a file server on or LAN. It is very inconvenient to confirm the password every month (no KVM switch). Is there a way to configure W2000pro such that passwords changes are done manualy instead???

OS W Home There are two user accounts an admin account with password and a std account with password The following happened when i changed the password of the admin account I gave in the old password then the new one When i clicked on a program to run it with admin rights i logged in with the new password and as expected the program could be started So far so good However after restarting the computer and trying to log in to the admin account the new password was not accepted but neither was the old password I then logged in via the std account and did a system restore When asked for the admin password password change Admin i used the new password which was accepted After the sytem restore the old password was valid again and was accepted when i Admin password change logged in to the admin account on the welcome page I am compltetely at a loss Could it be that all this is due to the user account control being set at quot always notify quot Somehow i doubt it but what could be the cause that no password was accepted any longer by the admin account on the welcome page wheras the new password was accepted anywhere else once logged in via the std account Thanks for any suggestions

Yes, I know this question sounds like one a thief would ask. I'm not a thief. I've depended on biometrics on my computer to log on for so long, I've forgotten what my password is. My fingerprint scanner inexplicably stopped working, so now I can't log on. The account is the administrator account, so I can't change its password from another user. Is there a way that I create a password reset disk or something, maybe from another user?

How can I change password on router? I think that there are others using my wifi connectionPlease help!

A:how can i change password on wifi?

We need to know your router make and model number. However, you can access router settings from your browser (IE, Firefox, Chrome or whatever). It is an IP address and will look something like this 192.168.1.1 (although the figures will probably be different). To get in there you have to type a Username and Password. If these have not been set, then look in your router info for the default settings - often something like "Admin" with a blank password. The password above is for router settings access and is not the one you are seeking. Once you get into the router settings look for "passphrase" or "pass key" (the former being the correct terminology). When you find it you input your current passphrase and then replace it with whatever you require. You will then also have to change that on all devices that use it.If your security is high enough, WPA2 for example, then others shouldn't be accessing it unless they are very well versed in this sort of thing. What evidence do you have which makes you feel this is happening? Sometimes sharing the same channel with your nearest neighbour can slow things down (if that is the issue). Channels 1, 6 and 11 are usually selected to minimise overlaps. Routers by default just select channels automatically but that does not mean that they necessarily chose the best one. There is a lot to be said for manually selecting one where others using it show weak signals. Unfortunately Windows does not provide any indication of what channels are being use and by whom. There a little freebie programs that do this - here is one:http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/wirele...It also shows signal strengths on the same page and can be run from a shortcut rather than continuously in the background.Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanksmessage edited by Derek

Hi,
I am using sftp for transferring files through cute FTP but now I am not able to change the password for sftp application.Could you please help me out to change the password regarding the same.

A:not able to change my password for sftp

Welcome to TSF

Quote:

* If the remote FTP site is related to your own domain or Web site then contact your Web hosting company for help. Most Web hosting companies have instructions for FTP access or technical support available on their Web site. You may even have direct access to your FTP account details via the Web hosting company's Control Panel for your account.
* If the remote FTP site belongs to some other company then contact the technical support department at that company for help with your FTP account.

When you have the corrected FTP account login information, you can then edit the login details that are stored for that particular site in the CuteFTP Site Manager. To make changes, first open the Site Manager (press F4) and then in CuteFTP Home, click once on the name of the site and then make the necessary changes on the right side of the screen. If you are using CuteFTP Pro, right-click on the name of the site and then click Properties and make the necessary changes.

I don't think so. Before you can change a password you first need to log in. After that you can use the provided methods.

According to Wireless Network Watcher, I have an occasional "hitchhiker" on my network who must have gotten a lucky guess on my router's password. I want to change the password on the router in hopes of keeping the thieving person of questionable parentage off but I have no clue how to do so. The router is a Netgear WNR2000 and was set up by the ISP. It's located on a shelf in the linen closet in the bathroom (the only place I had room for it, the modem, and the telephone modem).

A:How to Change Router Password

Hey Lady Fitzgerald,

Do you wish to change your wireless security password or the password needed to enter your router setup?

If you wish to change your wireless security password then you will have to reassign all of your wireless devices with the new network password.

Your routers Manual - http://documentation.netgear.com/wnr...FullManual.pdf

Page 2 will show you how to access your routers settings.

Page 36 and onward will show you how to change your wireless security pass phrase

Hope This Helps,
Josh

My daughter has been given a second hand Acer notebook with Windows 7 Pro O/S. It came with a username and password which she would like to change. I tried to help change the password through the Control-Alt-Delete route. This did not work. I also tried via the control panel/user account, again without success. At one attempt, I cannot remember exactly what I had just done, the following message appeared on screen:- 'Confirmation information could not be read from the domain controller, either because the machine is unavailable or access has been denied'.

Could someone kindly guide me what steps I need to take to enable me to change both password and username. I would really prefer that the username requirement to log in is removed altogether. Username is not needed when I sign on to my own laptop in Windows 7 Home Edition.

Many thanks.

Ever now and then, I get a message when I start Vista that says something like, "Your password will expire in 11 days. You should think about changing it now." If I am the only one using this computer, why in God's name do I need to change my password?! Why does Microsoft feel the need to make me change my password?! I have always changed my password when I get these messages (grumbling all the while) but I was wondering what will happen if I don't change the password, and is there some way to disable this nuisance? Thanks in advance.

Ive only ever changed my password there once before, and clearly that worked out fine. The whole site basically has secure connections (not sure if this is for ONLY the payment area), and unless you have a certain setting, will not display any other web address on the bar (eg, in the forums, site will still display www.runescape.com even though it probibly has more to it). You possibly may have to be more detailed in your question (or other things). Here is my own screenshot of what you probibly want to achieve. I ran this in firefox, so it may have failed, but it would easily work in the windows client.

As soon as i woke up this morning my wife hands me her laptop and change it. password expired, but can't asks me to fix it it is running Windows ultimate bit When you turn it on it says quot your password has expired and must password expired, but can't change it. be changed quot First off she has never had a password on her laptop if you press cancel it just goes back to the same screen So i pressed ok it gives me the old password new password confirm password text boxes As i mentioned she never had a password and doesn't want one so i just left all the feilds blank which is what i did when not wanting password expired, but can't change it. a password and pressed the arrow button it says that it's changing the password then it says 'Configuration information could not be read from the domain controller either because the machine is unavailable or access has been denied ' To me it sounds like it is trying to boot off the network but why it would sudenlly decide to do this after six months i have no idea i thought well i'll try the homegoup password but that returned the same message of course the next thing i thought about doing was doing a restore however even though she has a DVD drive it doesn't pick up the windows disk even though i changed it to boot the optic drive first i found a program that is suppose to change the password but i can't get to it because when i try to go to comand prompt guess what it says i need a new password

A:password expired, but can't change it.

Not being able to boot the installation media from the BIOS sounds unusual, unless the disk/drive is faulty.

You should be able to press F8 at startup, boot to safe mode and log in via the built in administrator account (this should not have the password problem)

The next thing to do is create a new user account and see if you can log in with that.
