I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)
I've done no overclocking, no advanced work whatsoever. Every time I try to google my issue, all of the solutions seem to be based around the person with the issue overclocking their system thus causing high tempuratures. This is not that issue.
On to the actual problem, my motherboard reports temperatures of 69c when running any program that takes any worthwhile amount of system resources (and some that don't), in particular, most games. CPU and GPU tempuratures seem far lower, around 30-40c. Assuming the sensor isn't to blame (and it isn't, if the feel of the case is any indication), are there any reliable ways to lower MB tempurature with simple BIOS and power settings?
Running an old F1a55-M (FM1) on Win 7 Home Premium, SP1.
EDIT: The motherboard idles at 47, which also seems high. I've changed locations for better airflow several times and wonder if I just flat-out need a larger case.
Fans running, dust?
I recently decided I'm going to start using my old laptop again. I swapped the hard drive for an SSD and I'm quite pleased with the performance boost that got me. I am now looking for a ram upgrade from 2gb to 8gb.
I have a Dell inspiron n4010.
I went to crucial's website and did the system scan. The scan said that this would fit my needs.
Unfortunately, crucial doesn't ship to me. I'm forced to look elsewhere. I looked for something similar on another store's website. My question to all the experts out there is: will 2 of these work with my laptop and get me the 8gb of ram I need?
thanks for the help!
Yes. The specs are exactly the same. Over the years I have used both Kingston and Crucial many times for memory upgrades and both are excellent.
You can also do a memory scan at Dell's own website. Just don't buy what they offer because they'll tell you to only buy genuine Dell memory blah, blah, blah. The Kingston will do you quite fine.
I am planning on building a small form factor PC but it will need RS232. I don't know for sure if there will be room for an add on card for the RS232. Is there a usb to RS232? If so, will it work as good as an add on card?
Check out this link: TRENDnet USB to RS-232 . I do not personally own one, but I have used them at my job and they seem to work pretty well. You may have a driver issue, depending on the OS you will be using, but for the most part it works.
As seen on this site, the previous USB 3.0 drivers were v18.104.22.168 for Intel 8/9 Series Chipset. On Gigabyte's website for the Z97 boards, they also list USB 3.0 v22.214.171.124 as the latest for their boards. Now my question is, why on Intel's Download Center, is USB 3.0 v126.96.36.199 listed as Intel NUC drivers? Intel forum staff claim that version is for Intel NUC only, but it doesn't seem that way.
Hi, Guys (And Gals) I'm attempting my 1st PC build and HAVE used the various online power supply calculators... however I'd like to hear some feedback from you all. No matter where I look online I always like to come here to be sure. My specs for the build are as follows:
MoBo: GIGABYTE GA-F2A68HM-H FM2+ USB 3.0 MATX
Amd A6 5400K 3600Mhz Blk Edt 1mb 65w Socket FM2
Video Card: XFX RADEON R7 240 2GB DDR3 LOW PROFILE
RAM: ADATA XPG V1 DDR3 1600 4GB
HDD: Seagate 1TB Serial ATA HD 7200/64MB/SATA-6G
I would really like to use one of the 350W or 400W power supply I stripped from my previous PC's. I'm thinking of hooking it to an HDMI or VGA projector eventually though (Haven't bought it yet) Can I get away with one of these and play a game like World of Warcraft? or do I need to order something like the
SolidGear 650W PS2 ATX Power Supply on Tiger Direct?
Thanks in advance for any advice & thoughts
Over engineer the PS;
Calculate the actual needed power,
add a fudge factor and
multiply by 1.5.

I have question about backbone networks. Need Help!
If an organisation has 3 departments.
Key servers are in different departments ? so a user from 1 department X reads and writes to file servers in another department Y. And both users access mail from a server in department Z.
The traffic and broadcast storms originating in one department is causing bandwidth saturation in other departments.
The core of the network is slow and is unable to meet the response time requirements of various critical business applications.
What is the solution based on core technology design, LAN technologies and design solutions to address inter-departmental traffic issues?
The traffic and broadcast storms originating in one department is causing bandwidth saturation in other departments.Click to expand...
major faux paux. Broadcasts should not go beyond the current subnet.
I would guess
you're departments are co-located in the same building
and all are on one subnet
For large companies per the above, likely the 192.168.x.y is insufficient and your lan is using a subnet like 10.x.y.z for ease of network administration.
Broadcasts should be limited to resource online/offline and contained within the network segment where the device is attached. Users / systems in HQ do not need the status of a printer going offline the the shipping department.
segment the departments into unique subnets
then add static routes between them according to their need
eg: the company domain server would be needed by all (dept <-> srvr)
including the email and directory system.
FEW departments need access to the sales group or its data
You need to analyze the departmental workflow to begin this project, and implement one network change at a time.
I have a HDMI cable for my monitor, with a nvidia graphic card...
but now I have a big doubt, I dont know if my motherboard's graphic card's imput is not working anymore or if its my graphic's card after a FLASHY BLACKOUT today...
my nvidia control panel is not working anymore... whenever I try using VGA or HDMI with my graphic card it doesnt show any sign in the screen... so im currently using my normal VGA motherboard's imput...
I tried using an old graphic card and its not working, I tested the VGA cable and HDMI cable and they are working perfectly...
yet, after I set the graphic card in the slot, the fan it start working, if I unplug the graphic card but leave the curent cable, it doesnt start the fan so I guess the motherboard's imput is working
so idk what's the problem here, I have all the drivers and everythign was working perfectly before the blackout
Well... its too late and soon for expect an answer but...
I tested my graphic card in an old motherboard and it was working... it didnt load windows cuz of the diferent motherboard but connecting my VGA in my gpu worked, and the HMDI didnt work I guess because it need to be configured after windows loading etc
Hey guys I was wondering if I bought one of these if it would work it s a dvi-d to vga adapter The site says quot the adapter only works if your computer AND your monitor both support digital and analog quot I bought a new GPU but now I can t connect my vga output VGA question to DVI-D from my DVI-D to VGA question tv to my videocard There is a vga port but it s already occupied for my old crt screen On my older GPU I had a DVI-I port so I used a DVI-I to VGA adapter to connect the tv But now I ve got VGA HMDI and DVI-D ports I don t use the hdmi on my tv because the input lag is terrible cheap tv So I want to buy this adapter to fix my problem but I ve read DVI-D is only digital I m kinda confused on this My GPU and tv both support digital and analog as the site requests so is this gonna work or is it just a scam This also made me wonder why the hell they don t just put DVI-I ports on all videocards it s supports both analog an digital Which is far more convenient than having only a digital signal or am I missing something here Thanks for reading nbsp
I've also found this adapter/converter. It's more expensive but it looks more trustable than the 1st one I posted.
I'm looking for an inexpensive router, any suggestion? The current router is downstairs, I plan plugging it in upstairs to boost the wifi. TIA
ASUS and TP-Link have some pretty good routers.. Do you plan to have Consoles (Xbox One, PS4, Wii U) using the network?? If so just ensure the router will properly support it as some older models may not work well with them.
I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit SP1 AMD E 300 with Radeon HD 6310 Graphics.
I would like to be able to play a few of the newer PC games but when I try they seem to stutter and do not run smoothly.
Do I need to install a better graphics card? If so can someone recommend what kind I could buy and install without a high cost?
Thank you for any advice.

It appears you have a portable device that likely doesn't have upgrade options. If your device maker doesn't list upgrade options on their website, you can likely scratch this idea.
Portables (Phones, Tablets, Netbooks, and Notebooks) are not designed with upgrading in mind. They are small and very limited with cooling capabilities. And most of the time everything is integrated in small form factors and can not be replaced.
Ok first I know this is the hardware section but because of the nature of my question this is the best place I feel it should go I am upgrading my motherboard Upgrading cpu question mobo and and CPU from Asus M A TD-V EVO USB Xtreme Design ATX AMD Mobo and an Amd Athlon II x Ghz to ASRock Z Extreme LGA Intel Z HDMI SATA Gb s USB ATX Intel Motherboard and a Intel Core i - K Sandy Bridge Quad-Core GHz GHz Turbo Boost LGA Upgrading cpu and mobo question W Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics Now all hardware does work but my issue seems to be a software issue more likely than Win bit which I need to get a hold of the disc my brother has was a family pack thing Anyway my question is pretty simple I Upgrading cpu and mobo question hope Without doing a fresh install of Win bit is it possible in any form to get the new mobo and cpu working like maybe using the repair method or installing over the current installed win Os so I do not have to back-up a ton of data and re-install lots of programs Also is there Upgrading cpu and mobo question any other work-around that might help I do have a Tb external Hdd I plan to backup my C drive with either way but it would be great if I did not have to do a fresh install Again sorry if this is in the part of the forums nbsp
Just back it up, bite the bullet, and reinstall Windows to get things right. An intel mb is not going to work right with the AMD drivers installed.
Hello, I was recently given a Dell Dimension 2400 from a friend. It had absolutely no upgrades, however I had old parts sitting around and I gave it a bit of an upgrade. I put in 4gb of ram (however found out it had only supported up to 2gb, so I had to remove a card) and added a Visiontek Radeon 9200 graphics card in. Now, I have two processors here that look like the might fit, but I wasn't sure. So, I was hoping to get a second opinion from someone who has a bit more experience with this than I do. I have two spare processors
one of them is a Pentium 4 3.00Ghz (http://ark.intel.com/products/27479...g-HT-Technology-2M-Cache-3_00-GHz-800-MHz-FSB)
the other is a Pentium 4 1.6Ghz (http://ark.intel.com/products/27424/Intel-Pentium-4-Processor-1_60-GHz-256K-Cache-400-MHz-FSB)
Would either of them work? Also, would upgrading to windows 7/vista increase the support for ram? Thank you.
Pentium 4 3.00Ghz is LGA775
Pentium 4 1.6Ghz is PPGA478
That is two different architectures.
Specs for Dell Dimension 2400
Intel Pentium 4 that runs at 2.2 or 2.4 GHz
internally and 400 MHz externally, or 2.266, 2.4,
2.53, 2.66, 2.8, or 3.06 GHz internally and 533 MHz
Intel Celeron that runs at 2.0, 2.2, 2.3, 2.4, 2.5,
2.6, or 2.7 GHz internally and 400 MHz externally.Click to expand...
Please note this would be PPGA478 architecture not LGA775.
What CPU is currently in the computer?
Greetings. I have an Asrok Z77 Extreme 6 Motherboard.
I currently have an I5 3570K in there. I believe my Mobo is LGA 1155.
Can I pull out the 3570L and drop in a I7 4790K? I 'think' they are the same socket.
Not sure if I will see any real increase in performance. I over clock the I5 to 4.2.
Any advice is welcome.

Sorry, no. While your motherboard does have socket 1155, the processor i7 4790K is socket 1150. You'll need a new motherboard.
This ink cartridge http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/jsp/Product.do?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&sku=T048120
Is labelled as "T048120-S" on some online stores... others it's labeled just as "T048120"
What does the "-S" mean? single cartidge?
Probably means standard capacity.
Hi all. So I was wondering if you guys had any opinions on gaming headsets for pc. My headphone jack for my computer isn't working so I don't think I can use any wired headsets (if I'm wrong on this please let me know). So I was looking into wireless ones, preferably $100 and under. The three I narrowed it down to were the corsair 2100, turtle beach px4 or 5 (from amazon or ebay) and the PDP afterglow kral. Anybody have any opinions on any of these ones or any other ones you would recommend? Thanks for any help on this!

based on newegg product, it seems able to handle 'full sized cpu coolers'
This review is from: Rosewill LINE-M Micro-ATX Mini Tower Computer Case, Dual USB 3.0, come with Dual Fans, Support up to 4 Fans, 12.5" card-Retail
Pros: Size, Appearance, USB 3.0 Front Panel. I own two of these one with fx8350 and one intel 4770 both with r9 280x gfx cards. Cable managment is tough but I expected that with the amount I packed into this form factor. Keeps my gfx cards around 70 degrees on stock settings. Fits full size CPU coolers. This is just about the perfect size for a computer case in my opinion.
Cons: bent the back panel slightly removing cut outs for PCI and PCIe mounts other than that no complaints really.
Other Thoughts: Get a modular PSU for this case.Click to expand...

My gaming computer turned in February and now that it s no longer under warranty things are going wrong This week in the middle of a project the machine rebooted on its own It restarted but shortly after did replacement PSU question it again and again I still have free tech support and two tech s offered help on what could be causing it First I replaced the cooling system thinking the PSU replacement question one installed failed and the cpu was overheating doing it It still rebooted I purchased software called Hardware Monitor to see if the power supply voltage was bad but it seemed ok then I swapped out the memory in case there was a bad stick It still rebooted My support tech feels it still could be the power supply and suggested I replace it I was told that I would need to buy the exact model and that buying any other would require a complete rebuild of my PC Since the computer is years old the power supply isn t sold anymore I was wondering if it s true that my computer would need to be completely rebuilt if I bought a PSU that wasn t the same The power supply is a Enermax Galaxy EVO w model egx ewt My computer was made by Digital Storm More system details available if needed nbsp
1. What hardware do you have in your system that needs such power? We need your hardware specs: CPU, GPU, amount of RAM, drives, etc.
2. Why does he believe a complete rebuild is necessary because that particular psu isn't made anymore? Is it a special size? If your case is to standard specs then see point #3.
3. Who is this support tech? Does he work for Digital Storm by chance? Check these psu's that will more than meet your power needs: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...07657 600479299&IsNodeId=1&name=1200W - 1499W
4. Before you spend any $ find someone who has a digital volttage meter and test your psu to see if that is really the cause.
My wife's Galaxy was hacked and sent emails out to her entire contact list.
The message contains a link that may provide a clue to who did it.
Is there a way to possibly isolate and open the link to view it without letting whatever it is destroy/spread/etc?
Hey guys just another quick question about my motherboarding and CPU. Currently I am not satisfied with my CPU at all and I'm thinking of upgrading to this
and my current motherboard is this
on that ^ website it says that my current motherboard supports the CPU that I linked, however my PC technician says that I also have to upgrade to a newer motherboard that can support that CPU that I want. My question is is that really the case? Can my motherboard run that CPU or is it really too old?
Again thanks for reading/helping

No, that motherboard is LGA 1156 while the i5 4670 is LGA 1150. You would need a new motherboard to go with that CPU>
I am using a corsair H60 liquid cooler. Am I going to get better cooling results by putting the radiator on the top of the case and sucking room temp air in through the radiator and then pushing it out back with another fan(plus a front fan intake also). Or am I not going to notice anything by just having my front intake fan and push the air out through the radiator with a fan? Thanks.
It is probably best to push air out of the case with the radiator since that will probably lessen the amount of dust that comes into the radiator. That is my opinion though. Maybe someone else thinks otherwise.

Does your current system not support SLI?
And does you PSU provide enough power for the two 660Ti?
I'm new here so I'm not very aware of the things going on. But I'm desperately posting this because I want some good answers and advice regarding my PC. And I'll appreciate any response.
Now here's my question. I recently bought a PC but not the kind you'd want as a gamer. I want to know if it's possible for me to replace its current Video card to Higher one, I mean a Graphic card capable for gaming and compatible for my system. Also about the RAM, I want to know if it's OK for me to change it to like 16g? My current Video card is NVDIA GeForce GT 620 1g. -
It mainly depends on your power supply, motherboard, and your computer's case on whether you can upgrade your video card. Chances are your power supply will be the most limiting factor on your machine. You could bump up to something like a 750 Ti without much concern about the PSU but anything higher and you'll likely need to change that part out also.
As far as the RAM goes it's all motherboard and what you've already got installed. You might end up having to remove some of your memory modules in order to put higher capacity ones in. That shouldn't be an issue with the Core i3 though - 16GB should be easily attainable.
So I built my system using this SSD caching It works really well My hard drive is terrabyte and my Cache drive is a gig ssd Lately while a Intel Storage Rapid Technology question.. playing Star Wars the Old repubic I have been freezing Intel Rapid Storage Technology a question.. in game This freezing completely locks the computer I run Teamspeak and I can still push to talk and my friends can still talk and I can talk to them via this during the freeze What is odd is Cnt alt delete will not bring up the control panel to allow me to kill the game I am just stuck Normally I would say this is a Video driver issue I did cleanly reinstall the latest Nvidia driver and this will still occur sometimes Now when I disable RST I never get the problem I can play and play and play When I reactivate RST to maximized I can still play but its like a timer After about or days the Freeze will happen So my RST question is has the driver been updated since when I built my computer and is it possible to update this driver now without having to re-install Windows and all my programs If I am left with having to re-install I am likely to just fork over the money and just buy a gig SSD and keep Windows and or of my favorite games on it and use the Terrabyte drive for Music videos and storage nbsp

Can you please provide more specific information of your laptop's specifications and operating system used.
I have a Lenovo Thinkpad T430 that I configured with 4 gigs of RAM (budget constraints at the time). It is in single channel (Lenovo never mentioned this tidbit of info; the sad part is both my wife's and daughter's 1st Generation Thinkpad Edge came with 4 gigs of dual channel at 7 timings). My CAS Latency is currently 11.
I am wanting to double the RAM to 8 gigs dual channel and I have the option of CAS Latency at either 9 or 11.
This laptop is used for business such as Office work, internet, email, streaming video, etc. In real world applications would I even notice the difference between my system running either 9 or 11 timings?
I dont think it makes much of a difference. But of course, lower latency is better, but it doesnt mean it will bring a big performance boost. The boost will be miniscule.
So newegg is offering the Acer 29" B6 B296CLbmlidprz IPS monitor for about 350. Seems like a pretty good deal but I can't find many reviews on it. I was wondering if anybody had any experience with this monitor and/or if you guys have better options for someone who is looking for an IPS monitor below 400 bucks. I want to game with it as well as do some 3d modeling and photoshop work. So I need reasonable response time for gaming. I was also looking at the HP ZR2440w and was gonna get that until I saw this deal on newegg for a larger monitor. 24" models are fine but if there are good deals on some 27" inch ones then I would be interested in those as well. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Heres the link for that monitor.
I have to be at a meeting in about 2 hours. We are on the beach in South Carolina. Our ISP, Hargray, constantly goes out. We are a condo association and have a group connection with little radio connectors in each building. We are more out than on line. I did a speed check and get a dl of 11.24, and an ul at 1.18. Does this matter in affecting my internet connection? I have an ipad and laptop and both get get nada. Please give me something to take to my meeting to make an intelligent statement. Thank you.
How did the meeting go?
I Made a mistake buying Samsung laptop model NP350V5C-A0EUK. It worked exactly for 1 year I.e till warranty period within 1 month from the date my warranty expired one of my RAM's stopped working - I bought a new RAM, after that my hard drive got bad memory sectors - I replaced it, then one of my RAM slots was dead, now there is a problem with the second slot.
My question is - By any chance can we get RAM slot repaired ?? - I suppose answer may be NO - I may be wrong as well
If the answer is NO, I suppose I can use other parts of the laptop like processors, RAM, HD, Key pads, display screen so .. on. Is there any way that I can replace some thing like mother board alone to get back my laptop to life ??
Thanks in advance for your suggestion
One friendly suggestion out of scope of this question - never ever ever buy Samsung laptops
I'm willing to bet there is not one repair shop willing to take on the task. Not only would it cost more to do the labor than the motherboard is worth, it would take specialized equipment. Motherboards are dated so quickly, it doesn't pay to repair them. Unless the damage is very simple to work with.
I have a 128gb samsung SSD. I was wondering what updates I can remove to get more space on the SSD because windows7+all updates are currently using half of the SSD space and somehow only 119gb of the SSD space is displayed so I'm guessing that 8gb is reserved or something.
I'm currently removing the extra languages and those are giving me and extra 5,5gb space
Somehow I think you have more installed than Windows and updates. Internet Explorer, Bing Bar, and Bing Desktop are the only updates I have hidden. All other Windows Updates have been installed. I wouldn't put all the blame on WIndows, if you have an install using 60GB.
Anyone with more than 8GB memory and still has Pagefile and Hibernation, by default has more than 16GB used by these two files alone. I recommend using them only if needed. I personally don't need them and have removed them both.
Check and see if you have a Hibernation file. If you don't use hibernation features, the file can be removed.
Windows 7 ? Delete Hibernation File (hiberfil.sys)
To turn off or disable hibernation, type the following command at the prompt:
powercfg ?h off
This will disable hibernation and will remove the hiberfil.sys file from your system.Click to expand...
Monitor your memory usage and if you have more memory than you ever use. The Pagefile can be minimized. I currently have mine turned off, with 8GB installed. But caution though if you turn the Pagefile off, Windows will not be able to compensate for a shortage of memory and the Windows session will crash. While I am comfortable not using a Pagefile, I do not recommend others do the same until they are comfortable doing so. I recommend lowering the Pagefile size to 1GB, and if Windows needs more, the size will be automatically adjusted.

How new are these devices? Are you using new 'patch' cables? Is DHCP running on only one of the devices? Seems weird that "touching the cable" caused a change.

Hey guys, I've been looking for a GFX card to upgrade my HD6870. I've already decided to go with an AMD R9 280X, I just don't know which model to buy yet.
Right now, the MSI 280X seems like the best option to me. But I use 2 monitors and the MSI 280X only has these connections:
Dual-link DVI-I x 1
HDMI (version 1.4a) x 1
Mini DisplayPort x 2
The monitors I use are a BenQ XL2411T (144hz) and a NEC LCD22WV (old).
The BenQ has: D-sub / DVI-DL / HDMI x 1
The NEC has: VGA 15 pin D-sub x 1
Would I be able to use my NEC screen with the MSI 280X and use my BenQ at the same time, with 144hz refresh rate? I read somewhere that a newer type of HDMI supports at least 120hz, though I couldn't find a clear answer to that. I am willing to purchase converters if needed.
I'd connect BENQ via DVI, then use miniDP > DVI > VGA adaptors for the NEC.
Also I don't know what games you are playing, but you're not going to get 144fps @ 1920x1080 with a R9 280x on most games.
This is not intended to be a sob story but I just want you to know what it is all about. I have a niece that is slowly deteriorating from MS. She does not have much that she can do anymore but one of her enjoyments is playing a game called WSOP Challenge (world series of poker challenge). Right during Christmas the game stopped working and Sprint can't seem to help her get it back on her phone. She called me asking if I knew what to do and I tried but could not find any info on what she needed to do to get it working. Sprint told her to delete it from her phone which was not a good idea because I have found no where that she can download it from and put it back on her phone. Would anyone be so kind to give me some advice on how to fix her problem. Time is not on her side but what she does have left I want it to be very enjoyable. Thanks so much for your help.
Recently bought the GPU and realised that my current power supply wasn't quite good enough, so I went and bought an "emergency" PSU locally. Specifically an 850w PSU by Power Zone.
Now the GPU is amazing but sometimes I struggle to run some games on full settings, such as Assassins Creed 4, Shadow Warrior, etc. , and obviously I bought the card with intentions of running games on ultra with decently good FPS.
Now to the point, is it the PSU that could be holding me down? The recommended wattage on the AMD site stated it to be 750w. and I do believe that my system specs are pretty much good enough.
I'd also like to point out that a friend recently got a Radeon 7950 and claims to run above mentioned games on full settings with no problems. Again so he claims
Also included dxdiag info
May we ask what you and your friends PC specs are? It could be other variables at fault.
Never mind! Just noticed the specs are listed in the txt file.
Lately, My laptop is very slow in recognizing my usb stick, or my Hard drive (usb 3.0) or my sxs cards through my express card slot. It 's also slow in recognizing my sd-cards through my card reader. I have a very fast laptop. A lenovo W530.
I just started a while ago, and I can't get it to recognize faster . Everything else works just fine and fast.... but it takes up to 4 minutes to recognize these things.
Can somebody help?
Hey tidri. 2 things come to mind if it previously worked. One is a reinstall of all the drivers for the mobo, and the other is a full AV/Malware/Rootkit scan. If everything checks out, a full format and an OS reinstall would be my third move.
For Christmas I got another mm case fan aerocool shark rpm and I tried mounting it at the top of the case to suck out hot air as I have intakes and exhaust already but I couldn t seem to get the right screws to screw it in at the top my case aerocool fan cooling Case question strike x gt came with long screws for the top of the case but they are too thin to screw into the fan So instead I mounted the new fan on the side door on the top fan slot by the CPU as an intake and today when I played a new game that I got for Christmas BF I noticed the CPU temps would get rather hot I am using the stock intel cooler bear that in mind I was getting a max temperature of about degrees C after a roughly Case fan cooling question hour gaming session Would I benefit from making the new fan an exhaust by the CPU or would I be better off or is there a secret way of mounting a fan up there at the top as an exhaust that I son t know about as I imagine that way would be the best way to do things Also my graphics card could handle BF at all max p with FPS Thanks EDIT - To clarify I have intakes at the front one rear exhaust and the new fan as an intake on the side door by the stock CPU cooler nbsp
For Christmas I got another 120mm case fan (aerocool shark 1500 rpm) and I tried mounting it at the top of the case to suck out hot air as I have 2 intakes and 1 exhaust already but I couldn't seem to get the right screws to screw it in at the top, my case (aerocool strike x gt) came with long screws for the top of the case but they are too thin to screw into the fan. So instead I mounted the new fan on the side door on the top fan slot by the CPU as an intake and today when I played a new game that I got for Christmas (BF3) I noticed the CPU temps would get rather hot (I am using the stock intel cooler, bear that in mind) I was getting a max temperature of about 80 degrees C after a roughly 2 hour gaming session. Would I benefit from making the new fan an exhaust by the CPU or would I be better off, or is there a secret way of mounting a fan up there at the top as an exhaust that I son't know about as I imagine that way would be the best way to do things. Also my graphics card could handle BF3 at all max 1080p with 60+ FPS. Thanks. With stock coolers, the fan on the intel cooler is pulling the air through the heat sink off the CPU and into the case away from it. By putting a fan blowing air down on the CPU, you are pushing the air back onto your cpu thus keeping the hot air hovering around it.
I would suggest swapping to exhaust.
I have a Compaq dc5750 that would of had pc 5300 ram but it has none atm, but I have some pc 6400 will it work? I mean all the other specs are ok, but it's pc 6400. thx
There is only one way to find out. That is to try it. If it does work it will not run at 6400 unless the motherboard supports that speed. If the motherboard only supports 5300, the memory modules will down clock to 5300.
If I'm able to, how would I go about running a network hub from an existing port on the router?
In theory I'm trying to run a wired connection to my room and have the ability to have my PC/TV and any other devices connected to the network physically, my wireless strength isn't exactly good and it's very inconsistent at best when it comes to my internet speeds makes it a bit harder to watch Netflix/Play games.
Any insight would be wonderful!
Modem > Router >
Then use a LAN port on the router to connect to a LAN port on the hub.
Is there a way to know where on a laptop/tower the wi fi signal enters the computer? I'm just curious. TIA
The WiFi signal enters though the antenna... In a laptop the antenna is around the display. In a desktop the antenna is either attached to the WiFi card directly or contained inside a USB WiFi device
My motherboard is a Z77 Asrok Extreme 6.
It has four dimm slots. I have One kit of 8 gigabyte memory from Gskill that is DDR3. 'dual channel' (11-11-11-28) PC 2133.
If I get another kit of 8 gig from ANOTHER vendor and its different timings can I put them into the alternate slots and have it work? Say I buy Corsair (9-9-9-9) PC 1600. Would the two kits work against each other since they are different timings? Is this NOT recommended?
Here is another better question. What if I buy the exact same memory from Gskill and drop them in as well? So I have two kits of dual channel 8 gig ram for a total of 16 gigs. Both kits would be same type/speed and latency. Will this work or do I need to use 'quad channel'?
Edited for spelling.

I'm thinking that different timings will cause issues with Dual Channel functionality. I'm also thinking that Dual Channel only functions if all modules can operate in dual mode. If you are not planning on operating in Dual Channel mode, I don't think it matters. However the modules should operate with the same timing, if they are to be linked together.
Anyway without actually knowing for sure, those are my thoughts.
I recently built a computer with the asus OCII GTX 770 gpu and ran a quick stress test with msi kombustor. I set the setting to no anti-aliasing and 720p resolution (not full screen) and ran the furry and tessy (gl4) stress test. At about 7 minutes my gpu got up to about 83 degrees C with fan speed at 100 percent. I stopped the test as I still don't know too much about stress testing and how hot I should really let my GPU get. I know the NVidia website says the max this card can take is about 98 C but I was wondering if at 7 minutes, 83 degrees C was normal or if that is too hot even for this stress test. Thank you.
For a stress test, that's pretty normal on an GPU like that, stress testing pushes the GPU to it limits which most of the time is more than games will even push it. As long as your temp stays below the threshold NVidia says (Which in your case is 98) then your fine. I would however, if you want to improve the temp, see if you can improve the airflow around the GPU area, the Asus Cooling system is pulling in air and pushing it down on the GPU which means you have to move the air once its been pushed over the card. I would try adding a fan around the GPU exhausting if your worried.
But honestly, your fine.
My friend has a laptop and needs to get SD connectivity to be able to download into his computer. He has an HP 6565B laptop with an express card 54 slot. Is there an express card that has an SD adapter built in? Is the express card slot faster than usb 2.0? If not, I guess a usb 2.0 external card reader would be fine. Unless someone has a better idea. Thanks.
it's kinda weird but last few months my pc was getting slower and slower, and when I decided today to format my pc it wasn't needed anymore, cause I started my pc on, typed pass and right after I typed the pass it goes directly to my desktop, programs starts directly all the same. It's like my pc is fast again...but the question is why???
I am not really sure what the cause of this is, but it happens to me every once and awhile.
Hi, in the sound Blaster Z control panel should I set my headphones to stereo or 5.1 for the best surround sound experience? They are stereo headphones.
You'll only get virtual surround. Set it to stereo, then enable virtual surround (or whatever it is called).
Alright so I got an Aspire M since One day it suddenly card Graphics or slot? the is broken it wouldn t start up Beeping noises are heard from the CPU long short After a bit of research it seems Graphics card broken or is it the slot? that the computer could not detect the graphic card which results in it not starting up So I reinserted the graphic card Failed Did it again Failed Repeated for hour Still hearing long short beeps Then after a few maybe hours I tried again reinserting the graphics driver connecting the monitor cable and turned it on It worked Graphics card broken or is it the slot? I didn t know what happened but it worked After Graphics card broken or is it the slot? I was done using the computer I turned it off The next day today the problem came back Reinserted plugged monitor cable turned on and it works Now I don t know whether its the graphic card or the slot Wonder if replacing it will work I m afraid that if I turn off the PC the problem will return Any help would be appreciated I never opened the CPU since for cleaning nbsp
Hey Falconet. I think I would be far more likely that the graphic card is flaky since in your research the beeps point to the graphics card. If the slot were damaged, chances are you wouldn't get it to work at all, and since it worked one day and not the next, and since the slot itself won't break on it's own, I would suspect the card first. It wouldn't hurt to check both connection points of the cable the next time, although the beeps indicate the card's operation itself as not being right.
I have a GeForce GTX 660 Ti FTW+ 3GB and I want to add a second card.
My question is do I need to buy a second card that has the same amount of ram or can I buy a 2GB and save $50 bucks since it doesnt use that ram anyway
I have an 800w power supply so that shouldnt be an issue.
You need to match the cards most of the time, however on ram differences, from what I understand it will just limit the total amount of ram accessible to the lowest amount (In your case 2gb will be useable on both cards). That is at least how it works on the GTX 680 4gb versions if you mix a 2gb together.
I would recommend getting a matching pair, it causes (Or has the chance to cause) more issues then just putting a twin right next to it.

You're spending way too much on CPU/MOBO, with a low-end cooler, instead of pumping cash into GPU.
- Get a HD7970 or a GTX770 at minimum.
- Maybe make changes to that PSU, it's not the best brand I hear, and 700W doesn't leave room for expansion.
- You can safely drop down to an i5 (saving $100) and drop down on your mobo (save $100).
Hello, I am looking a new screen for my sony vaio, the sticker on my screen have this Number: LTN156AT01 plus this three (3) additional numbers "S03" But I see on ebay, many sellers with the same part number LTN156AT01 with differents additional number like : H01 S01 S02 S03 T01 U01 V01 W01 My question is: I have to match, only the first part number LTN156AT01. without regard the other three (3) number whatever it is??? I need to replace the screen, but I am not sure, that I only need the first part number LTN156AT01 also many sellers have this part number for many brand of laptops to replace the screen. Thanks for any help
I would go with the last 3 numbers to. It possible their are different version of that part number.
So I have a monitor 1366x768 and I wish to upgrade to a 1920x1080 im currently running a gtx 660
at this moment my pc is connected to my tv which is a 30 inch 1920x1080 and I do struggle abit on games which I get on the near 40 fps at max graphics full resolution but I was wondering is there any difference in fps between a
23 inch monitor 1920x1080 and the 30 inch tv 1920x1080
and is it even worth it of me upgrading my monitor
There won't be as they are the same resolution, the fps depends on the resolution, and the quality settings on the games itself - and good hardware (CPU and GPU) to play it with as well!!. The size of the screen won't affect the fps unless the resolution changes too.
I am building some PCs for a video editing class we are starting. I have most of the materials picked out what I will be using. The CPU will be the Xeon E3-1230 V2. We cannot overclock so I am going with a Xeon cpu. Anyway my question is with video editing and no gaming, Do I need an aftermarket cooler? Thanks.
I would recommend one (Maybe not the fanciest) but a decent one to help with the cooling of a xeon. Though like I said, I would not recommend anything fancy, just something to add a little airflow especially if your case is not huge and moving a lot of air.
Hey there So I have this board Asrock Twins-HDTV I found out that with my processor I cannot use this board BIOS Upgrade question unless I upgrade the BIOS Thing is the most recent version is P I have P The question is there is a newer version of the board called the R supporting Core Duo using the same chipset Should I upgrade to BIOS Upgrade question P or will that brick my board And will I gain Core Duo support with that Remember my board is the quot R quot not the I have this question really because I m a bit of a suck for quot latest versions quot and in the description there are things like quot Modify USB code quot Can I trust ASRock s website in giving different bios files to the and the Regards The website of my board http www asrock com mb overview asp Model Twins-HDTV and the newer one http www asrock com mb overview asp Model Twins-HDTV R nbsp
BIOS updates are always considered risky and recommended only when necessary. With that said I have never had issues while updating, but that doesn't mean I never will. What I'm trying to say is no one can guarantee 100% success.
After studying the links you provided, I'm thinking you have a Core2 processor that your motherboard will not support.
BIOS updates are software updates. Board revisions are hardware updates.
The P2.10 BIOS update seems to require the V2.0 board revision in order to support the CPU in question.
In other words it looks as if the BIOS update supports your CPU but also requires the V2.0 board revision. Without the needed hardware, the software update is useless (unless you need the update for another reason).
My computer. Lenovo IdeaCentre K300 has a slot, about 3/4 as long as the memory slots. Does anybody know what it might be for? Because I'd sure like to fill it. I just feel a computer is not complete with empty slots.
Pre-thanks to all who reply ;0)
I'm not following. I've called up a few pics but I don't see anything other than PCIe, PCI, and DDR slots.
I overclocked to 4.5ghz, and the intelburn test passes.
However, in speedfan I am a bit confused on the temperatures it is showing me.
Specifically the CPU temp vs the Core 0 temp.
The cpu temp stays nice and low during stress test (47c), but the Core 0 temp jumps to 87c.
What's the difference in those two readings and am I running too hot?
I wouldn't even use speedfan to monitor temps. Download real temp or core temp and report back.
All right here s my problem I m looking into buying a new laptop and I ve broken it down to two choices an Asus model Q A-BHI N with an Intel HD Graphics card and another Asus model Graphics Card Question U VC-DS with a nVidia GT card Both have GB of active memory and GB of hard drive space Either way I want Graphics Card Question a new and better graphics card installed and what I really want is the nVidia GeForce GTX Ti possibly even a little higher But I don t know if it is compatible with either of the Graphics Card Question above laptops The last time we bought a new computer and got a new Graphics Card Question graphics card for it the system power requirements for the card were not met by the computer and a better power supply had to be installed for the card And there may be other things that would make the card incompatible with the two laptops as that I don t know about Can anyone help me out Any help would be much appreciated nbsp
If I may ask, what do you plan on doing with the laptop? Do you plan on playing "graphic intense" games or will it mostly be a little gaming and watching movies? It might be easier to look at other laptops if you really want the GTX 650 card inside. Also, what kind of budget are you working with?
I am not a computer savvy and all I wanted to know what is PCI, PCle x16, PCle x1 slot. As, my mother board had came up with these facilities and I don't know what the use of this slots and how can they helpful for me. So need a detailed explanation over these structures.
Has my mother board has 1 x PCle x16 slot
1 x PCle x1 slot
2 x PCI slots
The PCIe x16 slot is for GPUs, it is the highest bandwidth of them all. I can explain more later, I am in a rush now.
Can anybody Help Me !!
I have set up a Server type machine on a HP Touchsmart running Vista
I have purchased a Seagate 2TB Expansion Drive with its own power source
I desperately want to know how this external drive can be seen by other devices on the network
I have other external drives with their own power supply and non of them can be accessed by other computers on the network....Is there a trick to these devices!!!
I have external hard drives with NO power supply just USB connection and I can access them from any computer on the network and any media device on the network
I'm not very technical and would like to know if its just the type of device and I should be buying usb connected hard drives for music and movies
You need a router that has a USB connection. Then you can connect the external storage to the network. That is only for a USB drive though. Do you have one of those passport drives with a battery?
Hi Guys I am now working for a company that has implemented a function in there machines Printer copier wizards.. This for advanced networking/proxy question is an MFDs The function is explained in the next paragraph Basically many companies hire these machines and what we have implemented is an automated billing meter that This is an advanced question for networking/proxy wizards.. is required to talk out of the clients network and back to our billing team in some cases the clients use a proxy server There is a problem when I am talking to the customers trying to gather the network details so that our technician will be able to go onsite and enable this feature on the machine If someone on here can solve this problem I am about to mention They are GENIUS because I have talked to people that really know what they are doing and so far I have got an answer Here is the problem when I talk to the IT guys sometimes or actually of the time they are not the guy who actually set up the network and it can be a real pain to retrieve information even if they have full admin rights on there network I need to know what Proxy authentication scheme the customer is using whether it be basic NTLM digest etc Is there any free detection tools I can use or maybe there is a way I can guide them to the place in windows where they can get this information for me I was just thinking is there something in the registry that tells me this information Please if anyone has the answer they true champions and I really will appreciate it Regards AR nbsp

Puzzled here. Authentication is logging into a secured connection, so what is the user logging into?
As I previously mentioned in a prior thread, I found out after the fact my W7 tower has built in wifi.
Before I knew that, I obviously had my DSL in all the time.
I've since got my XP on DSL & using the wifi only on my W7.
When DSL is plugged into the W7 and or the XP,XP, does it automatically dis connect the wifi? Yes, my XP has both DSL & USB wifi although not built in.
It dose not on my HP. I just went in to the control panel under networks& shareing and disconnect my wifi.
I found a CD/DVD today NOT in its cover & am wondering if it was put in a CD/DVD player NOT hooked up to a computer or internet, could it / would it infect or damage a CD/DVD player only hooked up to a tv if it "was" infected? I know I won't try it on my pc's, but am curious, thank you.
I have every intention of destroying it either way, but I'm just curious.
As long as the CD/DVD player isn't hooked up to something with a storage solution it should be all fine!
I want to build a little computer for only one purpose, watching films on my tv, nothing more.
Now I have a question, does the motherboard "M3N78D FX" support this cpu "AMD Athlon II 270 X2 Dual Core 3.4Ghz", if not which does?
your opinion is always welcome, because I have little to no experience in making computers.
AMD Athlon II 270 X2 Dual Core 3.4Ghz
Asus GeForce GT610
Kingston HyperX DDR3 1600 PC3-12800 4GB
WD Caviar Blue 500GB SATA3
Power supply b-move 500W
I have already a case lying around in my house
My Max budget 240 euro (311 dollar)
That CPU will work with the motherboard just fine and the setup in general would be perfect for watching films and television on, as long as you're not looking to stream at max HD (I dunno what the standard is anymore...1080p?) I'd go for a CPU with more cores, however, if it were up to me, as I tend to have other applications running in the background or multitask while I watch shows, etc. Dual core is perfectly fine if this is strictly, as you say, for watching films on your TV. Are there better possible builds? Likely, yes, but this one will get the job done at a price range you're comfortable with. I give it the nod, especially since you can upgrade the processor down the line, up the RAM to 16GB if needed and graphics cards are always swappable.
This has got to be the strangest thing ever to happen to me. I had an AGP ATI video card with 256 mb on board which I do not remember the exact model number. It was about 8 years old. I have recently bought a flat screen 1080i 24 inch led TV which works great as a monitor ( and I mean great) Eventually the ATI card went bad and a friend had lying around an older NVIDIA TNT2 model 64 pro64 with only 64 meg on board. I almost flipped out to find that this older NVIDIA card was a 100 times better. Now everything is so crystal clear even at 1920 by 1080 my screen looks almost like an apple retina display. even the colors are so much brighter. The biggest complaint I had with the ATI card was poor contrast which I blamed on my TV/monitor, But no more. How could this possibly be? it makes absolutely no sense.
Not sure. But I had an opposite experience many years ago. I had a p2 300 with an ATi Rage Fury Pro (I think) and played EV Nova on it, shortly after I built a 1Ghz Athlon Thunderbird system and had a GF2MX 32Meg card and it didn't look as good as the ATi.
Perhaps you didn't have the correct/best driver installed.
I bought a sdd and I want to install it on my computer, intalling the os in it oviously.
I am going to do this and I need confirmation that it will work:
take off the hdd, plug in the sdd and the windows 8 cd intall windows 8 on sdd, then set to boot sdd preference.
turn off plug in hdd and turn on booting through sdd.
then format the hdd and finally intall all driver on sdd!
WOULD THIS WORK? really appreciate if you coment fast THANKS!
When I try to play Aion, the graphics end up being terrible even though the game auto-configures my settings to high. Even if I turn everything to low, the problem remains. What happens is that lines of color shoot from just about every object in the game above the ground. My graphics card is an ATI Mobility Radeon HD5650. Why are the graphics not behaving even though the game presets the settings to high based on what it detects for my computer's graphics capability?
http://I.imgur.com/n2Wbvim.png is a screenshot from the game.
Try updating your graphics drivers from here.
I have H61M-ITX board with 1 x PCI Express 3.0 x16 slot (blue @ x16 mode)
I wan to install there PCI Express x 4 card:
I made clean Win XP SP3 install + all MB drivers on top. After I inserted pcie x4 card and boot up. Win XP didn't detect the card (though leds on card are blinking from periodically)
I then tied LAN adapter I have to check if all is fine with MB. I took this one:
same behaviour - system doesn't see it but if I plug eth cable then leds on lan card blink.
please tell me what is wrong I do? I checked bios for anything related to PCIe and found nothing.
Have you tried updating your Intel chipset drivers? They can be found at Intel.com in the download center. They would have updates for the PCIe drivers and other assorted H61 chipset features.
I read in here someplace where if you had your pc hooked up to DSL & wi fi at the same time, one would cancel out the other? Is that how it is? TIA
Not exactly. But if the wifi and DSL are on different networks (or similar other complicated stuff) then it has an effect.
Best practise: connect to only one.
I have an older Inspiron 531 and I wasn't planning on replacing it anytime soon as it plays all the games and does everything else I need. I was wondering if there is a way to boost its speed and power a little more though. Right now I can play most mmo's on med settings, but I wanted to get a little more out of it. Currently I have a Athlon 64 X2 4400+ (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103546) processor in the PC. I have an AMD Phenom X4 9150e (http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=HD9150ODJ4BGH-R) sitting around right now, my question is, can I replace the 4400+ with the 9150e and is the Phenom faster?
Unfortunately, you cannot use the 9150E for your machine. It uses a completely different socket then the 4400+. You will need a board that supports AM2 sockets to use the 9150E.
Ive only had the privledge (and by that, I mean, enough money) to build a single CPU (with my brother, it was his) in my life. I recall it has (still works apart from mobo, only recently replaced) a intel core 2 quad. I see people talking about bent pins and stuff on CPUs, but I dont remember pins being on the core 2 quad. that was the easiest part I recall, just literally placed the chip in the socket (the heatsink, that was a headache). I dont recall any pins. Are pins literally pins as in thin rods sticking out of the bottom, or what?
Most modern CPU's (Intel at least) no longer have pins on the CPU, but instead the pins are on the socket.
The newer socket 1155 and 1366 (and 2011 for that matter) are just like the Socket 775 you are experienced with the Core 2 Quad you installed, just slightly larger sockets.
It is still very possible to bend pins though, but in this way, you damage the motherboard (with the CPU socket) vs. the CPU. You must be careful when inserting the CPU since dropping it on a corner into the socket CAN bend and damage pins.
So if you've built a system with Socket 775/Core 2 Quad, you should have no problem with Core i3/i5/i7 and newer Intel sockets if this is what you plan to do. Everything is basically the same... just slightly different socket and DDR3 memory vs. DDR2, which are also very similar and just snap in the DIMM slots similarly.
I hope that helps! Good luck!
Hi, I have a gtx650ti with VGA, HDMI and two DVI-D outputs
my monitor is a Samsung SyncMaster S22B300 with VGA and DVI-D inputs
I plan on connecting my TV through the VGA output of the card
and I was wondering how should I connect my monitor before I go and buy the appropriate cable
my best guess would be DVI to DVI (obviously) but is there any benefit from using the HDMI output?
HDMI gives you sound.
I'd use HDMI for the TV. Unless you don't have a flat-screen TV - in which case I'd question why you're hooking it up to PC.
Hi I have just installed a new pc monitor which is capable of HD but my computer which has a HD card connection is connected by HD to my hd television is it possible to install another hd connection so I could connect my pc monitor in hd as well.Since I posted this I now realize I can connect using DVI to HDMI on tjis card as well.Regards Martin.
HDMI to DVI converter would work, yes. Or, another graphics card (which is way more expensive).
My question voltage GPU main gpu is a gigabyte gtx GV-N OC- GD and I also have a gtx ti for physx I GPU voltage question downloaded evga precision tool so that I could overclock the ti and squeeze a little bit more performance when using physx I started adjusting the voltage for the ti and after pressing quot apply quot I realized that the software does not have quot per gpu quot voltage adjustment It looks like it s some kind of master voltage adjustment GPU voltage question instead I m not even sure I would like someone to explain me what it really is On the other hand I m quite sure I read on many articles about kepler based gpus that it s voltage adjustment is totally different from what we ve seem so far Based on that it s quite impossible I may have tempered with it s voltage meaning that the voltage I changed could only be the ti s one My intention is to leave the at stock settings and do some overclocking on the ti alone Here are some images http imageshack us photo my-images gtx tiprecisonvoltage png http imageshack us f gtx precison png In this video here they also talk about the new voltage system Thanks in advance nbsp
have you tried overclocking without a voltage bump? Is it also a stock cooler or a custom cooler on the 560ti?
Hi all Every years I tend to take my desktop PC and make it my business backup and get a new build Currently I have an i - SSD gb WD EVGA GTX Antec P Corsair TX Kingston gb Hyper X and a Cooler Master Hyper I am looking to do Question about a components for silent build a Silent build with an i can t see going back to an i I do Question about components for a silent build not play any games on the computer This is for business use Excel Word Quickbooks Browser skype and I process my own pictures for business using Photoshop and ACDsee which is where is higher processing comes in as I hate to wait for RAW pictures to open up and process What parts would be good for a Silent Build What in terms of my existing build do you consider quot Overkill quot that I do not need that I went over on my current build Since my businesses are online it is quite important for me to be up and running and have a strong backup hence taking the current machine as a great backup that is ready to go in case there is a hiccup Thank you Elliot nbsp
Well if you want a silent build then ditch that GTX 470 for sure. Get a newer generation card with an aftermarket cooler, it will be more efficient and quieter than the 470 which is pretty much the worst card you can have for a silent setup. What card to get depends on how GPU intensive your programs are.
Your Antec P183 should be pretty quiet but if you don't have one already you'll want a fan controller so you don't run the case and CPU fans at full speed all the time.
As for the CPU I'd get an unlocked 3770K because the potential 20-40% increase in clock speeds will really help with your work and it's only marginally more than a 3770. Just make sure you get a Z77 mobo to take advantage of the overclocking capability. If you're not into overclocking then you might as well get a cheaper Xeon E3-12xx V2 which is the same as a 3770 but without the HD4000 onboard graphics (which you don't need by the looks of things).
If your cooler allows it then get some Scythe Gentle Typhoon AP-15 1850rpm fans in push/pull, they will be way quieter and perform better than the stock one. At the full 1850rpm they aren't silent but with a fan controller they'll run silent up to 1000rpm.
An exam question asked "True or false? Given a five-tuple can any TCP connection on the internet be uniquely identified." I said false because you only need to know the source IP, source port, destination IP and the destination port. Is this right? (technically the statement may be true since if your given one more piece of information it doesn't make it false).
Long one (video Ah last question card) story short I have ordered all but the video card Have to wait for my account to be credited probably Monday Tuesday before I can reorder it So its a few more days to think I m trying to find the best bang for the buck video card that would last me years I want the CPU to be the reason I can t Ah one last question (video card) run games anymore not the video card Cause there s really no point in upgrading the i K The motherboard can hold two video Ah one last question (video card) cards I m only getting one now and maybe one in the future if need be I have a w power supply which I think can run two of any video cards Which should I Ah one last question (video card) get I ve been eyeing up the GTX and the Radeon the is cheaper thanks to a sale on tigerdirect wasn t much of a thought last week cause of the price but it s just about as good as the and it comes with free games instead of one So do you think one of those big dogs be enough to last for years could two just be overkill and make the CPU bottleneck Or should I just get a lower down video card and buy one now and one in two or three years when the prices drop and I may need one I just don t want to spend more money then I need to I know the whole one nice video card is better then two cheaper ones but that s why I m not planning on buying two cheaper ones right off the bat I do want at least GB of vram Don t yell at me just doing my best to futureproof this thing Thanks for reading all that jibbirish Any opinion s are welcome this thread is more of a guessing game I think nbsp
If the HD 7970 is cheaper than the GTX 670 then buy it.
One enthusiast level card is generally less hassle than two mainstream boards- the vagaries of Crossfire/SLI driver profiles and all that.
If the HD 7970 you're looking at is the reduced BoM (bill of materials) Sapphire card with the blue PCB ( model 100351SR) be aware that the build quality ain't that grand, so overclocking might be restricted if that's on the agenda. This card is also prone to coil whine. Any other 7970 shouldn't have any issues
EDIT: You mentioned Tiger Direct. They seem to have a pretty good price on the GTX 670 at $320, the HD 7970 deal must be pretty amazing- although the 3 game bundle does have appeal, especially if you were planning on buying the titles anyway.
It is on a computer running XP SP Now it shows up in My Computer but with no statistics and I cannot open it The drive does not show up in Windows Disk Management I have gone thru the Seagate website s External Drive Trouble Shooter for WinDOWS xp as hard aborted worked a conversion expansion fine I until Seagate drive compressed to a drive well as contacting Seagate Support with no success I have tried Windows Format DOS Format Seatools for Windows HD LFF Low Level Format testdisk win and Disk Wizard with no success The drive showed up but they all reported failure in testing and or accessing the disk Seagate expansion hard drive worked fine until I aborted a conversion to a compressed drive Seatools for DOS sounds like it would do the trick but it didnotrecognizeeitherofmyexternaldrives theotheroneofwhichisworking Can anyone recommend a fix Seems to me that it is a software problem not a hardware problem so there should be a software solution I have very limited funds and Seagate expansion hard drive worked fine until I aborted a conversion to a compressed drive can t afford to replace the drive right now It is used as a backup drive so loss of the data on the drive is not an issue I ll just run another backup when the drive is restored to health My boot drive is not backed up on this drive so that is not a problem nbsp
Have you tried reinitializing the drive?
I have a question:
If the NVidia card is broken, but the cable is still attached to the discrete NVidia graphics card out, does the video get "pulled" from the integrated (CPU) graphics chip?
No, it does not. You will have to connect the cable to the correct output.
Hey guys here are my specs.
AMD 64 X2 4600+
WINDSOR AM2 socket
nforce 720a chipset.
xfx nvidia 9500gt
bios american megatrends inc.
my question is what cpu can I upgrade to that will give me a good boost on this computer?
im going to also be buying a new card in a few months as well.
how hard if this board will allow me is it to upgrade it to handle am3 cpu.
Who is the manufacture of your motherboard? You can not upgrade the CPU to AM3. If the board was designed for AM 2. You would have to replace the motherboard.
Hello, im currently working on building a new computer, the PSU I got unfortunantly only has 1x6pin PCI wire but the graphics card I wish to get require's 2. I was wondering if any one could help me with this situation. any advice would be nice.
Computers specs listed below.
Kingston 4GB 1333MHz DDR3 Non-ECC CL9 DIMM Memory x2
650 WATT Power supply Alpine Black 650 WATT Silent Quiet PC ATX PSU
CiT Mars Midi Tower Part-Mesh Computer Gaming Case with 2 x Red LED Fans & LED Display
ASRock B75 Pro3-M Motherboard (Socket 1155, Intel B75, DDR3, S-ATA 600, Micro ATX
Intel Sandybridge i5-2400 Core i5 Quad-Core Processor (3.10GHz, 6MB Cache, Socket 1155
Using a HD and CD-D from previous computer.
That's an absolutely horrendous PSU, return it and get a decent Antec/Corsair/XFX unit. It should tell you something that a PSU apparently rated at 650W only has one PCI-E connector, I.e. it's bad quality and won't output anywhere near 650W.
Out of interest what GPU do you have?
Hi I got from a friend his old computer that according to him it wasn t working anymore The MB its a Gigabyte GA- I p-G I got it running My idea for the computer is to use it as a small media server to stream to my tv s Now HDD motherboard IDE regarding about Home SATA question server & here comes the Home server question about motherboard regarding IDE & SATA HDD question this motherboard has Home server question about motherboard regarding IDE & SATA HDD IDE ports and SATA ports Can I use ALL of the ports I want to get it fill with HD s to save all my media thats why I am asking Will it work with all the ports full I dont want to spend money in a entire new computer right now I dont know if it can work with all IDE used plus adding SATA HD I want it to end like this IDE GB HD MASTER DVD DVD-RW SLAVE IDE GB MASTER GB SLAVE SATA TB SATA TB I am Home server question about motherboard regarding IDE & SATA HDD just missing right now the sata HDD s and plan on buying them but I want to be sure I have the manual but it doesn t say anything about conflicts or something do you guys know anything about it Here is the link for the MB specs and manual http www gigabyte com products product-page aspx pid sp nbsp
I recall comments re mixed IDE + SATA but don't recall the specific reference.
What should work is:
bootable system on one device (eg IDE)
storage device(s) shared (eg SATA)
A friend of mine is taking a class & she needs to know how to disable an XP wireless laptop? Can she do such with the Task Manager?
Evidently the other students will have to fix it once they're disabled.
If I get more info from her, I'll add it. TIA.
Disable the laptop???
Or disable the wireless?
For the later, one easy approach is in the Control Panel... Network Settings...
you can disable your Lan, Wireless, Firewire, all right there.
Another approach is to Right Click on My Computer,
Select Properties, the select the Hardware Tab, find the Wireless Network adapter and disable it there.
There are other things that could be done, but I am hesitant to mention them, lest this is really in the realm of a malicious prank. There are reasons to sometimes disable the wireless as I have mentioned above... but not usually by other methods.
Where do they hide the harddrive?
I think I've found it via this link http://midwestitonline.com/wp-conte...in-a-Dell-Optiplex-GX260-Desktop-Computer.pdf
Got it out. Clamshell pc's are weird.
I have a Crucial 128GB SSD as my OS/Program drive, and a 750GB WD Black drive which contains all my music/movies/photos etc. My issue is that it goes offline or into like a stand-by mode after a certain period of time. So lets say I go to open itunes, it will take 8-10 seconds for it to access the drive and load up the program with my music. It's definitely going into some stand-by type mode, because I can hear when it goes into it, and when it comes out of it when I open a program or file that happens to be on the HDD. So I wanted to know if there is a way to disable that so my access is instant. Any info appreciated, thank you.
Could it be the "Turn off hard disk after" setting in the Power Options?
Hey all I just had a quick question about my processer, I have a i5-3570k cpu at 4.2ghz and a zalman 9700 110mm fan and when I play guild wars 2 I see my processor temp on speedfan hitting 72c is there a way I can get it any cooler or it is safe?
Try to find the lowest possible stable voltage for your CPU, Ivy Bridge is known for getting very hot once you start ramping up the voltages. At 4.2Ghz I'm guessing you should be using something like 1.0-1.1V.
Can anyone please answer a question about using Homeplug powerline networking devices such as this:
Netgear 1-port Powerline Adapter Kit
1. Does this act as a switch or does it create a new network like a router would?
2. Can multiple computers connect to a single source adapter?
I have a server that needs file sharing to other computers, not just port 80. Can I plug one of these into my existing router and the workstations into other Homeplug adapters and still access files on the server?
I played around with powerline ethernet at one point. here's what i can tell you
> Think of the powerline connection as tho it were an ethernet extension cord. It's like running a longer ethernet cable
> I did do some benchmarking and the speed over powerline was slower then if it were truly a simple cable extension
> Depending on how your house electrical is wired, it IS possible powerline ethernet won't work (no connection can be made between the two outlets) so i'd advise buying from a brick and mortar store, or at least somewhere where you can return easily if any problem or not works the way you want
If my video card has 1 HDMI port and another port (Not sure which one, DVI or VGA) am I able to hookup two monitors using each of those ports? Or must I have both monitors be connected through HDMI or VGA/DVI?
What video card is it? If it's got 2 outputs then it should mean you can just plug one monitor into each.
Hi, I'm new here, and I have a quick question regarding my laptop. I have been wanting to upgrade to a gaming PC for a while now but I don't have the money, so can someone tell me if my current laptop has good parts, and what games I am able to run?
Is the Intel graphics card the only one in the notebook? Some have a discrete and an integrated and use switching technologies to save power. You will run into a wall trying to play just about anything modern on that integrated chip.
What games were you interested in?
My landlady wants to know how to delete a wi fi account on our maintenance persons laptop?
This person will be replaced tomorrow & my landlady don't want this person to have future access here.
I was going to google this, but decided the pro's in here could help faster, thanks.
not sure how to go about the deleting of accounts, but wouldn't it be easier just to change the WiFi password? that way the landlady can just inform everyone of the new password, and the maintenance guy no longer has access.
I just have a quick question about Crossfiring. And before you ask, yes I have Googled this, but the results I came up with were conflicting and unclear. I just want a straightforward answer. I have a HIS IceQ HD 6950 with 1 GB of memory in my computer right now. I want to know if I can crossfire with a different brand and a card with 2 GB of memory. From my understanding, this will work, but again, I just want to be sure before I spend the money.
No it won't work because of the difference in memory. A different brand 1GB 6950 is ok though.
Hi there, so I recently got a pc with a GTX 560 SE graphics card, and after experiencing some crashes started looking for the problems. My PSU is 500W and has two 12V rails, one at 15A and the other at 16A. Is this enough output for the card, or should a single rail be higher? I don't know much about combined rails, and can only find specific info on the Ti card (that is that it requires ~30A; so does that mean my PSU would even run that?).
So I missed the part in the guide, this must mean the total is 31A? Is it likely at all then that the crashes (bluescreens + restarts) are power supply related? PSU is: http://www.xigmatek.com/product.php?productid=41&type=specification .
Hello I am in the market for a new notebook and I am stuck The site that I am buying off of recently updated to allow you to chose the GTX M and as much as I would love to stick with Nvidia upgrading to it would cost a whopping more where as upgrading to the M would only cost more From what I about technology Optimus Question Nvidia's have read the framerates that the cards offer are comparable with the M actually beating out the GTX M in some scenario s Therefore Question about Nvidia's Optimus technology I am going to base my final decision on Nvidia s Optimus Technology does anybody know how much of an increased battery life I would be looking at when I am not doing tasks that are graphically demanding AND I Question about Nvidia's Optimus technology read a little bit about AMD s Optimus like technology and heard that there are still a lot of problems with it Does anybody have any experience with it It would greatly influence my final decision if it works well Thanks Matt nbsp
Optimus will increase battery life, it really depends on what are your other specs on the laptop you are choosing. And is an additional 300+ dollars really worth the optimus technology and the 680m when the 7970m is almost as good for cheaper? As long as there are powersaving features enabled for both chip you should see pretty decent battery life depending on the rest of the computers config.
Okay so I have the Corsair Force GT Series 120GB SSD. Its port's are Sata 3 and well my motherboard is a MSI Pro-E long story short it does not have a sata 3 port. So my question is there anything out there I can buy that does have a sata 3 port like something that will hook on the PCI slot's or something. I basically dont wanna have to buy a new mother board but I still wanna get the amazing speeds because right now im getting half its peformance anyways please write back soon. If you give me a link to a product I prefer www.newegg.com and my max budget is $50.
You will need a free PCI-E slot. But this should get the job done.
I do not know much about the brand. But it does have 5 Eggs on Newegg.
I'm very familiar with dial-up since I spent my first 10 years on it & loved it.
I then graduated to wi fi/DSL.
Ok, my question is why do I hear so much bad mouthing about Satellite being so slow? How can it be so slow when the signal travels thru air?
I can understand DSL, Dial-up & cable being slow because it travels thru wire, but not satellite.TIA
Satelite broadband has high latency due to the signal being bounced from earth to space and back again. ( around 22 miles). Other conditions such as weather and line of sight can also affect performance.
Edit : 22 thousand is correct
