I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Password types :

Power On Password (pop). this password can be reset by unplugging the cmos battery for a while, and plugging it back in.

Supervisor/bios Password (svp). this requires reading the eeprom chip (8 leg or 14 leg) with an electronic device by using another pc's serial port or by paperclip method if model type available.

Hard Drive Password (hdp). this is usually tied to svp, but not all the time. it requires special software and a library of known manufacturer's password. but can be cracked either recovering the data or wiping the data.

My laptop keeps asking me for my facetime, icloud and messages password. I've entered the password but it keeps popping up. Even if I enter the wrong password it accepts it and asks me again in about 30 seconds. I have a Macbook Air but I don't know what system it is though. What can I do to stop this?

I have a toshiba satellite C870-11H. It used to ask for the password whenever it went to sleep. I checked and the system is still set to do so.

Some time ago I got fed up with the clowns at Microsoft thinking their latest update was more important than whatever I happened to be doing and destroying the work I was doing so they could load their rubbish. I set the system to ask me before doing an update. Well it doesn't bother to do that and now very rarely it does load an update without authority. Could it be that my system is now way out of date?

Is there a customer focused operating system that I could use instead?

Thanks.

A:Laptop stopped asking for password

Every OS is customer focused. Microsoft is for non-Mac machines and getting things done. Linux is more powerful but requires more techy-ness to use.

Maybe try Mac OSX.

But there's nothing wrong with Windows. Sounds like you have a decent amount of problems.
Run WIndows update, make sure it's completed every update.
Run CMD.exe in admin mode, run sfc /scannow

Hello all,

I use an ADSL modem for accessing Internet in my home. I think my wifi password is stolen. I wanna change it but I have a computer only in my office and use the Internet in my home by my iPhone. Is there a way to change that password with my iPhone or should I surely use a computer to do that work, please?

A:How to change the Wifi password of an ADSL modem without a computer

Hello abbasi ,
You can use your iPhone to log in the router and change the wireless settings, however this isn't usually recommended. If something goes wrong when configuring the wireless settings and you are not able to connect to the router you'll need a device that can be connected via Ethernet cable to restore the access.
If this router is supplied by your ISP you can ask them if they have remote access to it to change the password.
Hope that helps.

I have no clue what the password is and I need help to see if it can be reset. I have looked on the internet everywhere and have had no luck. If I pull the battery will that reset it......help me please. Thanx

A:Forgot Password On Asrock Motherboard

Removing the motherboard battery and waiting a couple minutes before replacing it should reset it to where you can gain access again. It should help you. If not then reset your jumper to clear the CMOS. You can get the jumper resetting instruction in the motherboard manual.

I have a Windows 7 computer wired into my home network. It has a printer attached to it that I have set to share. I have a windows 7 laptop and an XP laptop. Both 7 machines can see open the shared drives on the XP machine but when I try to access the shared drives of either 7 machine from any of the other machines I am asked to give a User ID and a password. This is a private Home network. I have no passwords set up on any of the machines. I'm trying to set up the printer on the two laptops and I can't access it without the User ID Password window popping up. Does anyone know what the problem is?

A:Home Network asking for user ID and password

This is all normal operation for print/file sharing. If you really want sharing without using passwords (imo a security risk), then you need to google for "anonymous sharing"

Hi Friends ... I have this laptop that has been given to me by my company and the USB ports have been blocked in manner such that I can copy stuff from my USB drive on to the machine but cannot copy in the reverse direction, ie. from the hard drive to the USB. A:Encrypted Micro SD card... forgot password

I don't know for sure that it does, but if it uses any remotely decent form of encryption then you're going to need to remember that password... it's kind of the point of encrypting it in the first place. If anyone knows differently please chime in.

I?ve never had to set the BIOS password, but the kids are growing up and I need to lock access to my PC.

My Bios has two Password Options: Supervisor and User.

The Supervisor password was accepted, and before I attempt to change the BIOS settings, the Supervisor password is asked for.

Then I set the user password.

However, when I boot up the PC, I am not asked for any password and windows loads as usual.

What am I missing?

The BIOS is Award Software International, Inc. F4 HI 07/03/2007

Do you have the option mentioned below?

Setting a BIOS Password

...
Now you'll want to set your system to ask for that password every time it boots, so select the BIOS FEATURES SETUP option, to see a menu something like this:

Fairly obviously, it's the Password Check option we're interested in, so select it and change the setting to ALWAYS.

etc....Click to expand...

It sounds like a hardware problem to me. Try removing the battery and running the laptop directly off of the charger.

A:How to set password for my IO Data Landisk?

you're into a bag of worms - - is this a personal LAN attached NAS or a commerical problem?

for background on the subject, see this PDF

The process to secure access to a NAS storage device is:

take ownership of the root folder and replace all children's permissions
create a group name which implies NAS-access
grant desired privileges to that group name
now go back and add your desired user-logins to the new group name
To revoke access, delete joe-user from that group list

I installed a d-link 2310 wireless router but did not see an option to create a password. The disk no longer works and I am not able create a password to keep neighbours from accessing and using my internet connection. Can you help?

A:Creating a D-Link password

forget the CD - - doesn't do squat for this issue.

1) access the router using your browsera) use only a wired connection'
the default address for Dlink is: http://192.168.0.1
the default user/pwd is: admin/ <leave it blank>
2)once inside, set a new Admin Password and save it. This will restart the router and disconnect you from it - - just log back in
3) now go set the WiFi SSID and encryption as required

A:Can't remember password on router

If you read the manual, it will explain how to reset your router, and return it to default settings (including the default password). On Linksys it usually involves pressing the reset button, and rebooting the router while holding said button in. But check your manual first. If you don't have your manual, Linksys online will have it for you to read.

You'll unfortunately need to set it all up again, so make sure the first thing you do is change your SSID (wireless broadcast name), and setup security on your wireless.

A:HP Mini admin password unknown

You need to talk to HP, after changing the registered ownership, and may need a document about the fate of the previous owner. You may have to send it to a certified HP service center with a formal notice of change of ownership included.
As for TechSpot, there is a policy to not provide assistance with passwords.
What you want to do is usually very difficult in the best of circumstances.

Hi everyone. There are several threads that are available for help with reseting a Dell D620's bios password here. And I understand they have all be closed b/c all the information has already been discussed. But within those threads all the links to the dstcd.iso are dead now. Would anyone have or could point me to a working download for that file? Google came back with shady links that I rather not use so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

A:Dstcd.iso Link is dead, need help with Dell BIOS password rest

There really isn't a valid solution. The D620 is unusually difficult to impossible for password repair, and the idea was chewed for a year. Solutions that supposedly work are perhaps illegal and certainly dangerous. They turned out to be a good source for malware and infestations without being helpful. All the solutions are as expensive as replacing the system board or the computer.

Hi guys,

I wanted to move some files to my laptop to save PC disk space (i have 80GB)
I connected my PC with laptop over LAN. There was no problems connecting it, but when i go to "Run" and type \\192.168.0.2\FolderShare, small window pops up with User and Password fields. I don't know what password should i enter. I've done this before, and i've never been asked for password. Anyone knows this?

A:LAN Password required

Use a userid/password that's already defined on the 192.168.0.2 machine and has access rights to the folder/files you want

/* edit */
Oh.. you also might be forced to create a non-blank password for the userid if it's currently blank. There's actually a method to turn off the non-blank password requirement but for your own network security, its best to use non blank passwords

How ironic, I've presently got the same issue

What I'm going to do, is use a pin (or pen) and push and hold the little reset button in (I think its 5 secs on mine)
The reset button will be located on the router somewhere (look closely, mines at the back)
Anyway, you will obviously need your Username and password for the Internet to be put back in the settings area, again (in the router)

A:HP 6730B bios admin password problem

hi,
I asked for the same problem in this forum but my threat was deleted with the suggestion to read the Forum FAQs.
I read them but I didn't find why they did it. So I want repeat the question adding it to the yours one:

HP CompaQ nx9005
hash code [ 15656]
I need the system password

I wrote and I just wrote again at the hp forum about it whitout any help, and the hp chat doesn't start because of a bag (I'm not the only one having this problem).

I read all messages of the reference topic about the same problem (as suggested) but I didn't find my needs.
I think I will have to ask about it a lot of time. Hope to find someone who can help me.

Is there any programs I can run?

Thank you

Unfortunately, if you don't know the password, you will have to do a complete reset. The settings for the most part should be default so it shouldn't take long to put it back the way it was.

Hi I had been searching round for hours looking for a startup password problem for a toshiba equium a200 1v0 and found a thread on this site for a toshiba a205. See link for (How do I reset eeprom on Toshiba A205?) Reading down I found the bit about removing the memory etc. I found on the equium a200 you don't have to remove anything other than the black tape (and put at least the lower piece of memory back in).
I used a old meccano screwdriver as instructed and it worked a treat so my thanks go to the people on the above forum. I hope i have helped anybody struggling with a equium a200.
Sorry I can't put the actual link in Forum rules I haven't posted enough.

I've had great success in unlocking locked HDDs (10+ different types and brands 10-80gb) using Hiren's Boot Disk 7.3 (& later versions) using "HDD Erase 4.0" under "Hard Disk Tools". Just persist in trying to erase it per Master-Password (which I did NOT have!) and press ENTER without typing anything. It asks you "do you want to proceed with erasing..." and all you need to type is "y" + Enter. NO MORE DOORSTOPS! Who says one can not unlock password protected HDDs? Mind you, there is no data left on the HDD once this program has run - sometimes it fails to finish, BUT the HDD IS unlocked! So, everybody worried about data-theft can calm down again! ~>) Carsten

I have a client's machine on which one of his darling little brats has created or reset the BIOS password and now denies all knowledge of the thing. I seem to recall there is either a means of generating the default password from the Service Tag or, failing that, shorting out one of the motherboard chips. That I have done before but would prefer to know which chip it is.
The system is a Dell Dimension 3100.
Anyone able to help before I condemn the thing to perdition and a drop kick into the neighbours wheelie bin?

A:Missing Dell BIOS (boot) password

Difficult task.
What you describe will not happen. But you can check with Dell support to see if the computer is registered to that owner. Then Dell will send someone out as an authorized service rep with a little disk that runs the fix... and has a cost.
I would first see if the hard drive can be accessed while installed in an external USB enclosure.
If it can, then even if passworded, you can put in a replacement drive. And Dell XP install disk will work.
Then you can buy a Dell motherboard on eBay. Many Optiplex boards are cheaper, and work better than the Dimension boards... for a cheaper price... around $70 to $85.... or refurbished Dell government computers are for sale at PCSurplusonline for $120 to $180 with shipping... just move the board into the 3100. And the dell OS will work.

Dell Inspiron 1521 Tag 595b this laptop has a pice of plastic chipped off the right front cornner; impact is most likely the cause. I have a password via masterpw.exe V2.20 for tags ending with 595b. At the grey screen of password entry ..... I see no field with curser as I type in the password and the password used fails. So, what could it be bad Mobo, bad password or both?

Appreciate any kind of help.........please, thanx.

A:Bad Mobo or Password

Probably a bad password... That one is a tough one if you did not set the original password.
If you bought the laptop from Dell, you can ship it back to them for removal at a price. Otherwise, keep on trying.
When you first press the on button, can you then immediately press the <F1>. <F2>, <F10>, or <F12> key and get a setup screen. If so, the motherboard is OK.

I have a WinXP pro box set up for password protected sharing. I set permissions for "Everyone" to be allowed and I can access the share over the network just fine. But when I remove "Everyone" from the permissions list and allow a different user that I simply named "User", then I cannot access it.

I run Vista and just get an access denied message (no login box??). When I use a file manager (servant salamander), I at least get a login box. I type in "User" and the password for "User" but I just get an access denied message.

I also tried creating another account with the same name that I use to log into the Vista machine but still no luck. I really can't see anything I've done wrong :S Any ideas?

I have a Dell XPS M1710?

I know there is other trends in here but none about how to download the software..

A:Password Authentication System error

Not in the way you describe the problem.
There should not be a BIOS password or Boot password unless you installed it yourself... and Dell is not much help once it has been passworded... but they will repair the password problem for a fee if you ship the computer back to them after verifying that you are the legitimate owner.

I saw a similiar thread on here but it didn't help me. I networked a Vista and a XP computer together. And the Vista can access the XP with no problems. But when I try to access XP to Vista, it ask for a username and password. Both computer do not use any password whatsoever. The XP has two users on it but there is no login password. I open the the window to: User Account-Advanced-Manage Password and it was empty. And so what do I need to do, to get rid of this password box. Or what do I put in the blanks? I never enter any password for networking. I'm puzzle can someone help me?

A:XP wanting networking password

On Vista, using an ADMIN account, cp->User Accounts.

Change Guest
Enable the account
Set a password
click ok to close

Go back to Change Guest

now disable the account (which will only stop keyboard logins)

Assuming sharing and the firewall is setup correctly, enter the Guest Password

There is probably no easy way.

The passwords on laptops are designed to not be easily bypassed or reset.

99.5% chance it that reset button works

1) make sure you in fact have the right button
2) It takes more then a quick press (so you don't accidentally hit it and reset). Hold it pressed until you see the LED lights start to blink in pattern (tho shouldn't be longer 10-15 second press tops)
3. if still not work and you're in the .05% probability, buy a new router!

Read failure on internal hard drive
The problem seems to be caused by the following file: partmgr.sysClick to expand...

Looks like a fault with the Partition on the HardDrive (Fat32 or NTFS)

You could just use a Windows CD, remove the partition (prompted innitially when setting up) and then install Windows on a clean Partition

You may be able to repair the Partition too (as long as it's not a hardware fault with the actual HardDrive)
Have a look at Gparted bootCD for that

Edit:

Or run a Drive Diagnostics on your HardDrive

Read your manual under pass word or reset your bios section.
You should be able to change the jumper setting to reset your bios.
You will have to recheck your bios settings after the reset

A:BIOS password set by accident on Dell laptop

For the record, let's get this straight. You messed up your mother's computer, you scared she'll find out. But in no way can the come close to "Help help life and death emergency". So let's leave the drama out! You should also never post personally identifying information such as the ID and tag numbers of her machine. You have now also put her system at risk.

Quite frankly, unless you were specifically given permission to get into the BIOS as a means of repairing the operating system, you should not have entered it at all.

You can look on the follow site for help witht the BIOS problem:

Okay here goes. I recently purchased new memory for my Dell Latitude laptop model CPx. after installation nothing happened. Got a hold of seller from ebay, told me to try them one at a time to confirm both were operational.

The computer booted up for two seconds and read as follows. "The amount of system memory has changed.

Well the next thing you know I'm staring at this screen asking my to enter the HDD password for authentication. That is truly something new for me.

It has "Hard-disk #*********-595B" on the screen. I saw some other questions about this earlier. I'm no genius, but i don't carry a book on cracking security codes on laptops. Any help out there for this Dell user wishing he never bought more memory...................

We're not here often so the password that we once knew is now forgotten.

Is there any remedy for this?

Is it possible to just start up a new network with the same modem?

Hello all & RUSTAM,

My name is Jordan, an Account Manager in Toronto.

A year ago I set a password on my Inspiron 2200 and forgot it. Judging by the forums, you might get these requests frequently so I'm sorry if I'm just another person asking for help.

My SERVICE TAG is 7YGPW81-595B, I was wondering you would be able to email me my code or old pass. What bugs me is that I remember setting it to something simple like 1234 or 12345 or asdf. You might see that if its in the service tag. I tried for hours already.

My email is [email protected], or I'll be happy to give you my phone number via email.

Anyways, IF YOU ARE EVER IN TORONTO, I would like to buy you a drink or show you the town. Let me know. I hope you get this soon!

Thanks.

A:Password Problems

First of all,

You posted in the wrong forum.

Second of all,

Remove your main battery and set it aside, there's a small hidden battery compartment for BIOS, open it and disconnect battery, and let it sit for few minutes, and reconnect everything, and you should have your laptop back.

This only works with Latitude D6XX

A:Forgot the password for my dlink-615 wireless router

Really don't need to use the CD at all, it's main purpose it to help you get the router going if you never ever done anything like that before. Think of the CD has Mr Virtual Network Tech. Now if you forgot the password, and boy how I stress users to write that down and lock it in box or somewhere safe. Make sure power is to the router, and press the reset button for 30 seconds to 60 seconds. Then unplug the power and do it again with out power press the reset button for 30 seconds to 60 seconds.

Now after all that wait 30 seconds more.. Plugin the power and give it a try now...

Hi Djboy,

Is it the grey screen password at power on or just the BIOS password you need.

I ask as you say you have read all the threads on here, so you will know there are 2 types of passwords (actually there is 4 ) but you dont say what you need help with.

As you may have read, member name removed can supply 595B passwords (something I cant yet) or you can go down the shorting method, which despite looking scary has been performed by a few thousand people, I say a few thousand as the hits on my site(addy in my tag) stand to date at over 7000 , I like to think this means at least half of these have followed the shorting guide.

Let me know i'll help as best I can....
