Preferred Solution: Laptop NVIDIA GeForce Card - Dedicated Memory

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

The first screen shot suggests to me that the GT 750 has 4 gigs of onboard (dedicated) RAM and is using (sharing) 8 gigs of system RAM for a total of 12 gigs. Why it says 1 gig in system info I don't know? It might be its actually using the Intel graphics when you opened it. It's switchable graphics. Unless you forced it to use the NVidia GPU it may be using the Intel? You would think it would say Intel at the top though?

Hi people

I have a Geforce 7300 Le video card with memory i think 512 mb , in Windows xp it read the memory size correctly , on win 7 i got all confused as it reads only 256

I copied info from nvidia control panel

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E4500 @ 2.20GHz (2194 MHz)
Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate, 64-bit
DirectX version: 11.0
GPU processor: GeForce 7300 LE
Driver version: 191.07
Core clock: 450 MHz
Memory clock: 648 MHz (1296 MHz data rate)
Memory interface: 64-bit
Total available graphics memory: 1023 MB
Dedicated video memory: 256 MB
System video memory: 0 MB
Shared system memory: 767 MB
Video BIOS version:
IRQ: 16
Bus: PCI Express x16

Now how come the total memory is 1023 and 256 is only dedicated , i searched bios for any editable options for Video card but found nothing.

How can I edit dedicated video memory, as it affects Games performances Huge GTAiv is running so slooooooowly with screen glitches.

Thanks in advance.

A:Geforce 7300 dedicated video memory

makamiko, welcome to the forums.

How can I edit dedicated video memory

Short and simple answer is you can't as dedicated memory on a video card is actual physical memory. The only way it is possible to alter this is if your video card uses what Nvidia calls TurboCache which takes system memory and uses it as extra video memory; great in theory, but unless you have 2 GB or more of system memory it will cause additional slowdowns.

As for what most of those numbers you posted mean this should help explain it,

Video Memory Virtualization - A Brief Guide

GTAiv is running so slooooooowly with screen glitches.

One reason for that is from the system requirements for that game,

Grand Theft Auto IV - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

your 7300 LE doesn't make the grade as far as the minimum requirements go. Unfortunately for the most part if you want to game you're going to need a new video card.

I am using a program called Nvidia Inspector to fix this issue with games such as Tomb Raider. But GTA 4 is giving me a hard time.I have tried everything, even Nvidia Inspector does not help in detecting Nvidia Graphics Card.I have an Acer Laptop with Optimus technology which seems to be the cause of this.I welcome any fix or solution.I can even try overclocking. I just want to run GTA 4 on my laptop.

From what I understand, whenever you enter the game, it switches to your integrated video card instead of the added one? If that is the case, make sure that you have the priorities right in BIOS. I'm not an expert in laptops, just a shot in the dark.

I am upgrading the memory to 2GB from 1GB, could someone please tell me whether I can change the Dedicated system memory from 64MB to 128 MB or just leave it as it is. I have attached the current info.

A:Dedicated system memory for graphics card

Hello Brummy,

Since it appears to be a integrated graphics chip, then you may be able to adjust how much dedicated system memory you want to use in BIOS for it.

Hope this helps,

I have bought a Lenovo 3000 G530 4446 Laptop:

The man told me it is a 256MB graphics card (Onboard)..

But i have been wondering until now and have not yet made sure what graphic card it is can you please tell me?

What i see in the Advanced Settings in Windows about the adapter is this:

Can you tell me what is: Total Available Graphics Memory - Dedicated Video Memory - System Video Memory - Shared system Memory??

Is the Dedicated Video Memory the value of the graphics card itself?? 32MB??

Please give me a constant answer.....

A:Help with my Graphics card and Dedicated Video Memory, please!

Dedicated is just what it sounds like. I think of it as a "minimum," amount of video memory. The shared memory is basically what the rest of your unused pc ram will let you use.

In turn, he kind of lied, but not really. Or maybe he didnt know(giving the benefit of the doubt).

I have found that any Vista or W7 machine that has a "0" value indicated in the Dedicated System Memory fails to run my apps. So there is no easy way to change this value? i dont expect a user to change a bios setting.

A:Dedicated system memory for graphics card as zero?

Dedicated system memory is what the CARD gives to the PC. So if you have an app taking most of your ram, the card will give it its own DEDICATED system memory. But your pc has dedicated GRAPHICS that is for aero and gaming. So if you have 1GB= 1024 MB and 64MB DEDICATED SYSTEM MEMORY, your COMPUTER can use 1088MB TOTAL for APPS.

hope this helps.

I don't know a whole lot about dealing with stuff like this so any help would be very appreciated. For my graphics card, it says it is an Intel G33/G31 Express Chipset Family. I know it has 64 MB dedicated to it and I'm not sure if I can increase that or if I have to buy a graphics card. As I said, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I recently installed Vista Business on my laptop and am now getting error messages when I try to play games. Games that initially worked on XP Pro are now giving me error message when I boot them saying that I only have 32 mb of dedicated graphics memory. However, my graphics card Nvidia Geforce Go 6200) is supposed to have 128 mb of dedicated memory. I am wondering why my video card no longer has the same amount of RAM dedicated to it, and how I might be able to fix the problem. All of the drivers have been updated with no success. Hi Folks,
My PC is built on an Asus P5N32-E Sli Plus mother board, Intel quad Q6700 @ 2.66GHz processor and an NVidia Geforce 8800 GTX 768MB graphics card, running Win7.

Photography is my hobby and I have recently been adding some simple 3D text on top of a few photos. The problem I?m having is that Photoshop crashes if I try to go above three words of text.
It reports that there is not enough memory on the graphic card. As my mother board will take two graphic cards, I?m thinking of putting another of the same in.

So would the whole of the combined 1536MB of memory be available to Photoshop and cure the problem?

Any advice would be appreciated

A:NVidia GeForce 8800GTX, not enough memory?

No The video memory in crossfire or sli that can be used will be the same as the card with the lowest amount of ram....both cards load all the image....they just draw half of the image....

Normally, in a non Win 7 laptop we can go to the bios and allocate more memory from the RAM.

I went to the bios and it is not the "old" bios where you cn change things.

Welcome to SevenForums.

I'm sorry to say that your GFX may be Faulty.

Try the Following.

1, Take the Card out of the Current PCI-e Socket and place in the other one.
2, Ensure your cards FAN is running when its on.
3, Cry - as this does not solve it your card is indeed DEAD.

I would enquirer about a RMA from the manufacturer as most cards have a nice 3yr warranty.

Go ahead and install the XP drivers. You may need to run them in compatibility mode.

Just note, your results are not guaranteed. There is a chance the card simply is not compatible.

I have an old Dell Dimension 8300 PC with a bad video card (128MB DDR NVidia GeForce FX 5200). I need to replace the video card but because this PC is in our spare room for guests to use, I do not want to spend much to replace it. Can anyone recommend an inexpensive comparable card?

A:Bad Nvidia GeForce FX 5200 card

Well the first thing I need to know is what bus the card is operating on. Most 5200's by dell were AGP, and I know they made the 5200 in PCI but I am not sure.

You have several ways to tell what bus the card uses.

1. You can use system info/everest or something similar to see.
2. You can just physically take the card out and look. Google AGP and PCI. They don't look similar so you should be able to tell.

Now after taking the card out, it may be worth it to look at the back of the unit. If you see another VGA port, that will be the onboard. I haven't worked with these generation dells in a long time so I do not remember off the top of my head. If that is present, simply plug the monitor in and see what happens. You should have video automatically, if so, since this is a spare machine it should work ok.

If you do not have another VGA port after you take out the card, you will need to buy a replacement.

Both of the formats are long dead, so the prices are pretty cheap. You can get replacements for the 5200 in AGP or PCI

You can also shop around for used/cheaper solutions if you so desire. You are not limited to the 5200 specifically, anything from that generation ATI 9xxx series should work fine.

Hi there

Try the HARDWARE settings on your monitor --you might have to use the handset to get the monitor menu (picture).

There's usually a setting "Auto Scan " / "Auto resize" or similar which should correct the computer W10 image to the correct size. (Aspect ratio setting).

Also set brightness / contrast / colour / sharpening correctly -- makes a HUGE difference. If you have a GAMMA control on the hardware settings use that as it's often better than brightness + contrast combo.

people often forget the hardware menu - especially when using TV's as monitors.

Here's what a quick Google turned up. They're effectively the same, if I understand correctly, except with better heat management on the newer card. Also, what type of VRAM do your old 8600s have? What is the "cost" you're citing?

Well basically my hard drive broke so I bought a new one, had to obviously reinstall windows etc, and everything was fine. I installed the drivers from the disc (as I lost them) and everything was okay until I turned my PC on one day and it just beeped loads, I tried lots of different things to see what it was and I changed my graphics card and now it works, and whenever I have my GeForce FX 5200, my computer won't turn on, it's as if there is no graphics card installed.
I had this problem when I first got it, but I moved it about and it worked - I just assumed I didn't fit it in properly, but I know this time its a problem with the card. Any suggestions?

A:nVIDIA GeForce 5200 FX card not working

Are you sure you did not physically damage the card (the connecting portion) when you last took it out or fitted it in? When you "moved it about", you DID turn off the computer first right? Do you know what the usual operating temperature of your card is? 'Cuz it could be fried for all I can think of.

A:Can i get PNY NVIDIA GeForce FX 5500 ( PCI ) graphics card on this?

If the intel graphics is integrated into the motherboard, you
can disable it in the BIOS.
If not,remove it.
Make sure you uninstall the drivers for the old graphics
hardware first.

Does this card support dual monitors? I found someone selling it. He says it has nView, Power DVD, TV-out, D-sub, DVI but ive seen somewhere on the internet that some cards may have the 2 ports, but dont support dual monitors. Is this the case for this card?

Can any one help me on this matter, I have tried many things to get this card up and running on Windows XP but with no luck. I have tried the latest drivers and NT4.0 drivers but with no luck. It just keeps freezing the screen and I have to restart the pc and take it out and do the same procedure again and again. One driver halfed worked the NT driver which came with the CDROM but it cant play any games over 16mb so I know the card is not faulty. Am I missing something ? Thanks

Okay, i tried to Upgrade my Graphic Card for better perfomance.

I watched videos, when i tried to Upgrade it, it said No Updates (i forgoted it)

But im confused, did Microsoft stop working on Windows 7? Or NVIDIA stopped working with Microsoft? Im confused

A:Is NVIDIA Geforce GT 320N the last Graphic Card?

No NVidia are still I guess working together
I seem to believe most of these newer driver updates are focused more for win-10 instead of win-7

You card is pretty old so it might not work well on the newest NVidia driver
I'm still on 368.39 you didn't say which driver version you're using though or how exactly you attempted to update it ?

I'd usually use this

If the "blue locator" you mention is at the back end of the card slot, this is a release latch. Press it down and then you should be able to remove the card by pulling it straight up.

I have been using this pc for over 2 years. In the Spring of this year the pc kept crashing. I have found out that the graphics card is reaching temperatures of 105 degrees C when playing games. I have cleaned all the fans in the pc with air.

I have been told the heat sync is probably no longer functioning correctly.

GPU temp is 66 deg C when the pc is in normal use and fan speed 40%.

As soon as I play games the fan goes to 100% and the temperatures rise until the card crashes.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

A:Nvidia geforce graphics card 320 overheating

I was having problems with the Nvidia chip in this laptop. Blowing out and cleaning the fans didn't seem to do any good so I took the advice of others and cleaned off the old thermal paste and applied new. It definitely appears to have help. No laptop shut downs since. I used Arctic MX-4. Search Youtube for instructions.

Also, for peace of mind, I uninstalled any temperature monitoring program.

I have recently been having a few problems with my graphics card running at a high temperature so i read a few things online on how to clean it and then i did so. Now when i start up my computer normally "start windows normally" i get blue screen and the computer re-starts. When i run dxdiag it says i have no graphics card so im not really sure if its broken or if i have re installed it incorrectly.

Any help with what the most likely cause of this would be is greatly appreciated.

A:Nvidia geforce 240 gts graphics card issue

Relevancy 69.23%

Hello.I've had this issue for about a year now, but since it was never really that important, i just let it go. BUt now, I would really need a fix. Basically what happened is that I had an issue with my cooling fan, it was ful of dust. So i had it cleaned out by a company, but when i got my laptop back, my dedicated amd graphics no longer worked. But not only that, it was literally gone from every scan. Cant find it under device manager, not in the dxdiag, not anywhere. SO my guess is that it must have been somehow disconnected. My question is, how can i reconnect it. Where on the motherboard do i find the connection between the graphics card and the motherboard. I dont know if these 2 are connected, but my cd/dvd rom also no longer works.

A:Nvidia GeForce FX5500 video card Trouble

hmmm did the 32 mb card work properly?
did you uninstall the 32 mb card drivers?
try having your minitor cable linked straight onto the motherboard monitor connector if you have one and i think the reason the picture would not boot from bios is becouse some drivers are still installed.
did you uninstall the fx 5500 drivers before putting the 32 mb card back in.

check if the graphics card uses too utch power and check if the monitor is connected onto the graphics card properly.

the problem you are facing could be due to motherboard related problems or you may have a faulty graphics card or you simply might be installing the graphics card wrong (read the instruction booklet carefully)

A:Computer won't Detect Nvidia Geforce 730 Graphics card

You need to tell use more about your computer, what is the make and model of it, what is the model of the motherboard, what is the model of the power supply? What version of Windows?

Is it the Geforce GT 730 you bought or something else? What is the intended use of the new graphics card?

And what graphics card or GPU did you have before adding this card?

Do you have the monitor connected to the new graphics card or do you by chance still have it connected to the integrated graphics that many computer have? It needs to be connected to the new card before turning the computer on.

Have you made sure the card is seated fully in the slot?

Have you tried using the latest drivers from the NVidia website:

Do you have access to another computer to try the card to make sure its not defective?

A:Upgrading my video card from Nvidia GeForce 6150SE

if you were to follow the game's minimum requirements i would recommend at least a 400w PSU, but it depends on the power supply itself as they are all different. if the card needs auxiliary power then it will most likely tax the PSU too much if you have a lot of other components, but you could always try. the radeon X700 isn't a very demanding card so i wouldn't be surprised if it worked fine with the unit you have. on the other hand, 400-500w power supplies are cheap nowadays and it can only benefit your system if you choose to invest in one, but it's your call. just because you don't need high end stuff doesn't mean a beefier PSU is a bad idea

My XPS 435/9000 with an (i7 quad core processor 920) desktop originally came with an Nvidia Geforce GT220 GDDR3 graphics card.  I have been having video issues so I just purchased an (PNY) Nvidia Geforce GT740 DDR3, thinking this card would be an upgrade.  (I have an HP Pavilion 27xi monitor).
Maybe I was expecting too much, but to me it seems like the quality of the picture with the new card is not as good as the original card???  I swear I was getting 2560 x 1440 resolution originally, but I can only get 1920 x 1080 now?  It says that is the "native resolution".
Thoughts?  I don't game on my computer... mostly office stuff and videos etc...

A:XPS 435/9000 and Nvidia Geforce GT740 graphic card?

Both cards are capable of higher resolutions, but your monitor is only a 1080p monitor so that is the max resolution.  Its possible some settings like cleartype were reset when you swapped graphics cards as well.  I would try adjusting them to see if that helps, even go so far as to download the latest NVIDIA drivers.

Try the link below then click on the one that says "Graphics drivers", let it install the software that checks for which card you are running then it will show you the best driver for your 7950GTX.

This should get you up an running with the right resolution with aero, you may need to go into the Nvidia control panel to adjust the resolution but you can do it in Windows by just right clicking on the desktop and choose adjust resolution.

You should also rerun the Windows Experience Index after the driver install and reboot which should get aero going for you again.

Has your hardware ever worked in Windows 7?

Windows 7 is pretty good at including drivers, but it may not include drivers for your nVidia nForce 570 SLI chipset. (I had that with my nVidia/AMD laptop.)

They're available at Make sure that you get the correct bit depth (32 bit, from what you've posted), and the AMD version (not Intel).

Hi everybody I recently finished my first build and am currently trying to work though some problems that I hope someone can help me with So as soon as I got it working I decided to test out my games Hitman Blood Money and Left Dead worked perfectly fine I decided next logical test would be Team Fortress When that started up it worked initially After a few minutes and graphical tweaks it started trying to redisplay the game It flipped out stopped displaying text and buttons and then only displayed slightly different colored giant squares on the screen I 9500 Geforce Grainy Issue Nvidia Card Graphics hit alt F and ctrl alt delete to try and get out which didnt work The computer just restarted on its own Luckily it started back up without a hitch so I tried Garry s Mod Same Nvidia Geforce 9500 Graphics Card Grainy Issue thing happened At this point i decided to reinstall the graphics drivers After that finished I tried again same thing happened This time i was fortunate enough to alt F out in time so it didnt restart After this I decided to look towards my Nvidia options for the answer I changed the refresh rate to hertz Highest Option and changed the performance settings from quot Quality quot to quot Performance quot After this again I tried TF and it finally worked temporarily I got into a game and it seemed to work great until I exited out and a new problem arrose The previous problem only happened in games but this one was both in and out of them This one was leaving stray pixels on the screen whenever refreshes happened Like when i moved the window Its really hard to explain so I took a picture and uploaded it to my Photobucket account http i photobucket com albums rr xxmintybreathxx WTFness jpg After monkeying around trying to fix it I gave up only Nvidia Geforce 9500 Graphics Card Grainy Issue having come to the deduction that quot Quality quot and quot High Quality quot cause some games to go haywire and quot Performance quot and quot High Performance quot causes Nvidia Geforce 9500 Graphics Card Grainy Issue everything to go haywire Here are my specs The graphics card is a GeForce GT with gig of GDDR RAM Using a Ghz Dual core processor with a P N-E Sli mobo Need more specifics just ask The OS is Windows XP What I ve been assuming is that my graphics card has some hardware issue of some sort This seems most logical to me I hope someone has a clue whats going on here Thanks in advance nbsp

A:Nvidia Geforce 9500 Graphics Card Grainy Issue

Sorry for the double post, but the Edit option was gone... ? I think... weird...

Anyway, If any of your think this is more a game issue, could you please tell me. That way I can move onto the steam forums instead. I think it belongs here though, because to me it seems like more of a hardware issue

If it is a problem with my graphics card then I'll need to know before the end of the month so I can ship it back to newegg for a replacement so please if any of you have any idea (Even a slight idea) I would greatly appreciate it.

Hello guesscomplex,
If you go to C > Windows > Minidump, zip up the files and upload them with your next post, you may need to copy them to your desktop first.
Chances are its a driver thing, but the dump file will give us more info.
Can you include some system specs in your next post too, thanks.

i have a geforce fx 5200 8x agp 128 mb graphic card. it worked fine for me for about an year. but now suddenly only 64 mb of video ram is detected by my system. i checked the 'dxdiag' dialogue box and it also shows only 64 mb of video ram. reinstalling the drivers, the card itself and tweaking different bios settings has not worked for me. what to do? how can this happen? can a part of video card memory just die like this? if not, then what can i do to restore the 'hidden' 64 mb of it? any answers, suggestions etc. will be greatly appreciated. thanks.

A:GeForce Nvidia fx 5200 128mb graphics card, only 64 mb is detected?

I haven't looked up the specs on your card, but usually they are split in two ie 64 + 64 = 128Meg . Even though it's only one card.
I know my 512Meg Vid card does this. It reports two cards in Device Manager as 256M (even though it's only one card)

I don't know all the ins and outs, but I suppose it's faster doing it this way

Should I upgrade the power supply?

Thanks in advance.

A:Black and White 2 freezing with NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 card

quite possibly the lack of power in your comp. make sure you have the most up to date drivers for the vid card and the most up to date direct x. a neat little tool that you can use for analysis is the direct x diagnostic tool. go to start, run, and type in "dxdiag". (no quotes) this'll tell you the main things that you need to know about your comp. Feel free to post it here in the thread.

This wasn't what you asked, but -

Can you install the Vista graphics driver?

I had to do something like that with my Compaq notebook (8200M graphics). Since doing that, I was able to get drivers from Windows Update or use the generic nVidia mobile drivers. I can't tell you whether it was necessary, but it may have helped.

Today I bought a Geforce 6200 graphics card because my computer met all the requirements. When I installed in my computer and turned the power on there was a beeping noise and the computer screen was black. I don't know what I did wrong. My guess is my computer is not compatible or somethings up with the card or dirvers, I really don't know since this is my first time installing a graphics card. The requirements of this graphics card is: petium 4/III/II/celeron, AMD K6/Athlon. An Agp 8x or 4x motherboard. 256mb of memory at least. windows xp. a minimum of 250w power supply.
I have a AMD Sempron 3100+ 1.8ghz, an agp slot 3.0, 8x. a 250watt power supply. and windows xp. If you could help me out in any way I'll be very greatful. Thank you for your time.

A:Problems installing Nvidia Geforce 6200 agp graphics card

Power cable out
Push in the on switch (releasing all internal voltage)
Touch the frame of the computer (inside - and don't shuffle your feet -antistatic issue)
Take the card back out
Boot up with original onboard video
Go to system bios
Confirm 1st startup set to AGP
Change the meg to 256
Save and exit
Turn off the computer
Reseat the AGP card (push in securely - goes in a long way)
Put the monitor back to the AGP
Power cable back in
Turn back on

Looks like you do have a PCI express X16 slot for a card.
The 6150 is integrated.
That 250 watt power supply is weak, even for a 9400GT.

Hi, new I'm here and have worked on my computers for many years with success. i have a problem with a new Nvidia MX4000 video card with an Asus P5P800-MX/CHANNEL-UAYGZ motherboard. All works well except there's no video signal until the Windows XP boots up and loads the driver. This means I can't see the Bios setup or dual boot screen on startup. It works fine with the built in video on the motherboard but I'd like to use the dedicated video card. Has anyone had this problem and suggestions to work around it.
Thanks, Don Black.

The same problem as what I posted in this thread.

Basically, KotOR is not working on my new, better, computer. I believe it's a driver problem, but don't know how to find out. My video card is a NVIDIA GeForce 6600 256MB, but the game recommends GeForce4 Ti or better (128 MB VRAM). So that's my other assumption as to why it doesn't work.

I can play a few minutes into the game, but then it makes a loud noise and my computer restarts. I thought it was a program called Smart Doctor that came on a CD with my video card, because I uninstalled it and the game let me get a little further into it, but when I went back to playing today, it restarted on me within 1 minute. My file only has 7 minutes in it, and I'm very disappointed.

Can someone help?

A:Solved: NVIDIA GeForce 6600 256MB video card with KotOR

The 6600GT is a much better and newer card then the the GeForce4 line of cards.

Your problem sounds like a heat or power issue.

What are your CPU, mainboard, and video temps?

What is the brand and the wattage of the power supply? Did you remember to plug in the auxilary power connector into the video card?

If your motherboard didn't come with an temp and voltage monitoring software you can try using Speedfan:

it would also help if you posted the complete specs of the computer including the operating system.

Hey guys, I have searched a lot of forums but haven't found any relevent answers. I am sorry if this is a repeat.

What happened is that I disabled my nvidia graphic card from the control panel and it was too late until I realised my mistake as I had already pressed the restart button. Now I try to start my pc but all that happens is that I hear the sounds I always hear but nothing appears in the screens. I have tried several monitors. I have unhooked the monitor from the nvidia and connected it to the onboard gpu and still no luck. I tried resetting the bios but that didn't help either.

You'll not make that mistake again and neither will I. You can't see anything when Windows boots but you know it's there. Maybe there's a way round this but I never found it and ended up reinstalling Windows.

It is 128MB shared memory. Meaning if the laptop has 512MB RAM, 128MB will be used for video and the remaining 384MB is available to Windows.

The final BIOS for dv9200 series is F2D, it has been almost 2 years HP not updating the BIOS for this model.F3D is more model shipped with AMD processor. Many of dv9000 owners that have geforce 7600 have to let their notebook rest in piece due to Nvidia issue. If you have a working notebook, than I'm suggesting not to force it run too much, just use HP drivers and take extra caution with the temperature fluctuation. Download Hwmonitor to check the temp, hereIdle temp for GPU around 60C, check yours. Use it always with external cooling pad and never ever play serious game in it.
