i had to strip win10 from this laptop . . . . not suitable for my developed application. what a complex project for a machine have paid good money for! the only net drivers available are for win 10, but the mfgs must have suitable ones available for win 7. any idea who they are for the wireless and the lan chips? i can never go back to win 10 for this machine.
I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I've had real trouble locating this particular window in Windows 10. The only way I can get to it is if I create a manual entry for a wireless network. In Windows 7 you used to be able to get to it for existing wireless networks that I had previously connected to. Does anyone have any idea how to get to it? Many thanks

Running Windows 7 Home Premium, I've experienced this issue about five times in the span of two weeks.
When my wireless connection isn't found, sometimes Windows is unresponsive when clicking on the wireless icon near my system clock. It shows either the empty bars with a yellow indicator or the empty bars with a red x. When I try to click and bring up the list of available networks, nothing happens. Even right-clicking doesn't do anything.
Explorer has given an error and needed to shut down three of the five times this error has happened.
Any idea what could be causing this to happen?

hi and welcome
there are several things.
first if y ou are NOT using homegroup, you can disable IPv6. it is located in network and sharing.
Second next time it happens type cmd in search>type Ipconfig /flushdns, then ipconfig /renew. let us know if that helps
type device manager in search> go to the wifi tab. look for your wifi card, is it listed? does it have a yellow triangle on it? are there any other "unknown devices" with yellow on them?
Let us know the results
Windows is unable to connect to the selected network. The network may no longer in range. Please refresh the list of available networks, and try to connect again.

I have a question
I set up a net work with a linksys wireless router probably a year ago or so and it has a wireless linksys router. It is connect with two windows xp home computers and a windows 2000 and a mac and a windows 98 my question is
They (above) are all wired I am adding two window vista's with wireless built in cards, Will they hook up automatically or do I have to change the workgroup on them and if so where do I change the work group and is there anything else I would have to do to add them. Thanks
Assuming that you secured the wireless (preferably with WPA or WPA2) there will be no automatic connection. I do not remember whether the Vista default is to connect to any unsecured network or only to preferred networks. I think they got wise and made the latter the default, but I'm not at all sure.
If you want them to be in the same workgroup, then you will have to change the workgroup designation unless you named the workgroup "WORKGROUP." You change the workgroup on Vista similar to the way you do on XP--through the Properties of "Computer."
This is my first message on this forum - I am hoping to get any feedback on it OK this is the issue Earlier this week I installed a drivers Wireless : next network-card day gone wireless network card brand Belkin in the old PC of my parents Installation went smoothly internet through an Access Point and a wired router both brand Belkin works fine I am writing this on their computer right now PC specs Intel PII MHz Asus Wireless network-card : drivers gone next day P B-VM Intel BX chipset NVidia Riva TNT Model Mb SDRAM quot Wired network quot card brand Com Serial port ISA slot Onboard audio Windows ME Every time that my folks switch the computer on say days after having used it a previous time the network card is not working - i e Windows says no drivers are installed when checking in the Device Manager After re-installing the drivers or doing a system restore like today just a while ago the network card is quot found quot and installed and working again So how come Windows says no drivers are installed after seemingly every quot cold quot reboot Why does Windows seem to quot lose quot the installation of the wireless network card This might have been posted in the Win ME forum but I put it here since I rather suspect it to be a hardware thing it is after all quite an old computer by now The few other threads about wireless network cards don t help me any further and I am at a loss here So any comments are greatly appreciated nbsp
I reinstalled Windows on my Acer Aspire E5-411 laptop.

I'm not familiar with soft and programs so please explain slowly ^^ without using shortened words etc etc :P
Thanks in advance.

I have a network here at work that is using an NT4.0 server. I have a computer that is running Windows 2000 pro that needs to logon to the domain through a wireless connection (running in a trailer in the parking lot). I can get everything to connect and work if I log into the workstation itself, however if I try to log onto the domain I get an error message indicating that the domain is not available. I know that XP has the ability to initialize the wireless connection prior to login but I can't find anyway to do this with W2K. I am using a Netgear WG121 USB (G) adapter with a Netgear WG602 access point. I have WEP turned on in the open mode.

* there might be a problem w/the drivers for the local area connection adapter
I am soo clueless!! MY actual modem is good as we have 3 running right now -
should i go to restore point " before avg n the critical update moments before i realizes this problem?? I am soo not tech ans my 15 yr old doesn't even know where to start!!
help me please i am afraid to mess up worse! TRACY
first of all relax
I doubt AVG would mess up your connection. . Assuming you are using Windows 7. Try these:
- Goto control panel, then open network and connection sharing, on the left panel click on change adapter settings. Then right click on your local area connection and disable it. Then re-enable it. Do the same with the wireless connection.
- If that doesn't get you online, then right click on My Computer, click Properties, on the left panel, click on open device manager. In device manager, find "network adapters", you will probably have two listed. Right click on each one and click uninstall. Then restart your computer.
Hope that helps
Hi all! Please help! My wife's notebook, (ASUS G71GX, Win 7, wireless card Atheros AR928X), wireless connection to our home LAN (D-Link DIR-655) suddenly stopped. It shows the available networks, but cannot connect to it. The hardware manager shows no problem with the wireless card.
I'm not sure what the problem is, but could it be the drivers, not the hardware? So far, I uninstalled and re-installed the driver for the AR928X. No changes, but maybe I didn't do it right.
Could someone help out, please?
Never mind. Thanks. I ended up deleting my home network, and then re-creating it. That solved the problem, even though I still do not understand how that worked
Hi, Try the Realtek wlan driver on the following link. http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp75001-75500/sp75236.exe Regards, DP-Khttp://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Software-and-How-To-Questions/my-wireless-network-drivers-not-found-in-website/td-p/5752350
I've tried everything to get it back. In my network connections, it only shows my local area connection. I can't connect to a wireless network, and my wifi light on my keyboard isn't even lit.
I don't have any switches or buttons on my keyboard either that would allow me to enable or disable wireless internet.
I do have a wireless card built into my computer, and I have been able to connect to wireless networks for the three years that I've owned this laptop. It basically just stopped working a few weeks ago.
By the way, it's Windows XP. Anyone have any idea how to get my Wifi back?

Hi I have an older model Intel Wireless Network card that was recently discontinued and I don't have the installation CD for it. And I was wondering if anyone could help me? The model number is G57005-002.
Windows 7 64bit
Is this card installed and running?
If it is you can download the Intel driver update utility which will search for your device and provide you with latest drivers.
Edited to add: When I did a Google search for this card I didn't find anything for the model you have posted.

Hi:I have a dell c400 and had no problems following video driver issues posted here to fix that particular issue.I have now got an issue with audio and wireless network drivers .i run the install on windows xp drivers i downloaded but windows won't let it take so any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
can you give us the service number to your pc? without it i'm not sure how much help we can be. this is an older model and the latest dell drivers are for xp so it's likely the reason you haven't found them is because they were never updated.http://www.sevenforums.com/drivers/57055-dell-c400-audio-wireless-network-drivers.html
Hello, my old laptop went down, so I bought a new one, which is Acer Aspire ES1421. I got it without OS as I have my old Windows 7 from previous laptop, however once I installed them, I can't get my Internet to work. Neither wired, nor wireless. The official website provides only the drivers for Windows 8.1 and Windows 10. I tried them, but they don't work on Windows 7. Is there any place for me to get the ones, which do work on Windows 7? I really don't want to get Windows 8.1 and especially Windows 10, because I really don't like them, and I'd really prefer Windows 7 over them. Even if I'd have to buy another license of Windows 7 for that specific laptop (if for whatever reason I can't share same Windows from my old laptop).http://www.sevenforums.com/network-sharing/388594-cant-find-wireless-network-drivers-acer-aspire-es1421.html
My Acer XC-605 desktop running windows 10 does not recognize any network. The connection should run through an ethernet cable. When i looked at the network drivers there are two with an exclamation mark on them:
Qualcomm Atheros AR5BWB222
Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller
It says they both won't start and they give a (code 10). Im pretty sure these guys are the problem.
Because i don't have a connection i can't update them, and uninstalling and reinstalling doesn't work either. I have a laptop with a connection, but i don't know where i can find any updated drivers to deliver to my Acer to fix the corrupt drivers.
Im pretty clueless of what i should do here, i hope someone could help me out i would be very grateful.
please i need the link were i can download Qualcomm Atheros AR9285 bluetooth adapters thankshttp://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Operating-Systems-and-Recovery/Latest-drivers-for-Atheros-AR9285-Wireless-Network-Adapter/td-p/5784877

Murd3d mate where did you get the OS from ie did you buy an OEM or retail version?
First of all this are the driver downloads Drivers & Software Support | Toshiba
Now there are three that I can see and we need to establish which card is in that machine.
To do that look at this
Using HW Info
You can test the volts on the PSU with HWInfo HWiNFO, HWiNFO32/64 -Download < download the right bit version andclose the right hand window select Sensors and scroll down to the power sectionwhere you will see what the volts are doing see my pic.
The original right hand window shows themachine running and is handy for that but for looking at the components in some detail close it and use themain left hand side panel
Open each + down into the componentitself and then click on it - in theright hand side will appear all sorts of details including brands speeds andother essential info that device. See pic for example.
Thsi I did up for volts on the PSU but in the pic you can open out in your case the Network + and see the wifi adaptors and see what is in the machine as we need to know the brand that the driver sis for.

You want the first file listed on the webpage. http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/chipset?os=Windows%207%20-%2064 Next, install the amd catalyst graphics driver and reboot. http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/mobile?os=Windows%207%20-%2064 Audio: Accept the agreement, download and install the second driver on the list. http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=24&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownT... The laptop: HP Envy TouchSmart 15 Notebook PC (15-j173cl)Windows 8.1 Pro The problem: I use an external monitor, so my laptop is usually shut. Randomly, my touch screen THINKS something is touching it, which disrupts whatever I'm doing. I would like to disable the touch screen completely, as I do not use it at all. I thought maybe the latch wasn't closing properly, but the screen resolution changes when I shut the laptop, so it KNOWS it's closed and switches to the proper resolution for my external monitor, but it DOES NOT disactivate the touch screen, and some dirt or something is touching it, changing where my mouse is pointed, where I am typing, etc. I have tried cleaning the screen and keyboard with compressed air. The problem happens randomly; sometimes when I CAD for the day, sometimes after hours of working.
Hello, @rockspeak Welcome to the HP Forums.I see that you're looking to disable the touch feature in your notebooks display. I will help you with this. You can do this by going into Device Manager > click the + or > by Human Interface Devices > right click on HID-compliant touch screen > choose disable. This will have disabled the touch ability. Let me know if this works for you.Thank you for posting on the HP Forums.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Video-Display-and-Touch/Disable-touch-screen-for-HP-ENVY-TouchSmart-15-j173cl/td-p/4555674

Connecting two (or more) SOHO broadband routers together
Connecting two (or more) SOHO broadband routers together
From a John Will Post
Note: The "primary" router can be an actual router, a software gateway like Microsoft Internet Connection Sharing, or a server connection that has the capability to supply more than one IP address using DHCP server capability. No changes are made to the primary "router" configuration.
Configure the IP address of the secondary router(s) to be in the same subnet as the primary router, but out of the range of the DHCP server in the primary router. For instance DHCP server addresses 192.168.0.2 through 192.168.0.100, I'd assign the secondary router 192.168.0.254 as it's IP address, 192.168.0.253 for another router, etc.
Note: Do this first, as you will have to reboot the computer to connect to the router again for the remaining changes.
Disable the DHCP server in the secondary router.
Setup the wireless section just the way you would if it was the primary router, channels, encryption, etc.
Connect from the primary router's LAN port to one of the LAN ports on the secondary router. If there is no uplink port and neither of the routers have auto-sensing ports, use a cross-over cable. Leave the WAN port unconnected!
This procedure bypasses the routing function (NAT layer) and configures the router as a switch (or wireless access point for wireless routers).
For reference, here's a link to a Typical example config using a Netgear router

Every so often, my WiFi on my PC will just stop working. It will disconnect from my wireless network, and then when I try to manually connect, it's not listed. Sometimes a restart works, sometimes it doesn't. This last time I had to restart twice. I know the WiFi router is not having problems, because my phone and AppleTV stay connected and stream just fine. The first times I noticed this, I was actually browsing the web and talking on Steam when it occurred. The last two times however, I left my computer on to finish up some downloads, came back in the morning, and it had disconnected and corrupted my downloads. Any help is greatly appreciated, so thank you in advance.
Hello and welcome to 7 Forums ShaneLj.
Is this wifi adapter plugged into your PCi or PCIe slot in the desktop or a USB type adapter?
Would be helpful to also know what brand and model the wifi adapter is in order to Identify any issues that a manufacturer might already have a fix for.
My wireless card in my Compaq Presario works fine and Windows 8 detects it and said it was compatible. For some strange reason though it's not working in Windows 8. It hasn't detected my wireless network. Currently I am connecting using a cable.
The card is Qualcomm Atheros AR5007 802.11b/g WIFI Adaptor.
I am trying to do a Google search on this issue, is it me but is this device not compatible with Windows 8 despite Window 8 saying so? I have updated the drivers through Windows Update, but it still can't find my Wireless network even though Windows 7 did originally before my upgrade.
I have done a diagnosis and here's what it says (if this helps)

all of the relevant drivers can be downloaded from the acer website for your laptop.
you can gain access to the internet from the acer by plugging an ethernet cable in directly from your router/modem.
only download from trusted sources, and when it comes to drivers only download from the vendor. just go onto the acer website, click support or downloads. and fill out the form. making sure you choose win 7 64bit as well as the correct model of laptop.
I have a LAN with two computers with Windows 7 SP1 Enterprise, a NAS and a network printer multifunction.
This network is managed by a hardware firewall. The two computers do not have any firewall and antivirus and all network devices have the same workgroup.
On the network window of a computer, all network devices are displayed immediately. While, on the other computer, the computer with Windows 7 immediately appears; however, the other network devices were displayed after a long wait.
Since yesterday, on this computer, only this network devices are no more displayed; while the other computer displays all regularly.
Will Windows7 use the same drivers as vista? or will we have to wait months/years again until the product manufacturers catch up.
Hello loopyloo, welcome to Seven Forums!
We're all just going to have to wait and see together.

Hi @DarrelSilv, Welcome to the HP Forum! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips. For you to have a rewarding experience, I would like to include the following link for your perusal and reference. First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More I understand that you have downgraded your operating system to Windows 7 and are now looking for drivers. When I checked the HP software and driver page for your notebook, Windows 7 is not listed as a supported operating system. This does not mean that it will not work, only that it has not been tested so the outcome is unknown. Have you downloaded and installed the HP Support Assistant to aid with acquiring drivers? Please review this post by @Paul_Tikkanen Re: Window 7 drivers for g6 2301ax. As he stated do not install the BIOS files from there. Please keep me updated on your progress. Hello ayochukwu, You can find your drivers here: http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=5229456 Winos.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Video-Display-and-Touch/Drivers-for-window-8-1-PRO-64-BITS/td-p/5672936
I am going to install window 8.1 previously I have window 7 preinstalled by dell.....now I want drivers for various factory fitted hardwares but on dell support website for my model no there is no option for divers on window 8 os
my model number is Studio1457 help will really be appreciated..
Start with the chip-set, identify it and then look for a driver. If it's Intel go to Intel. Then Video, audio etc. A lot of stuff may work with the default 8.1 drivers. You won't know until you do the install though. Unless somebody here with that same model has already done it. You might want to change the title to "Windows 8.1 drivers for dell Studio1457". The tricky part with laptops is some of the drivers are custom modified so the special function keys work. The volume up down, LCD brightness etc. For my laptop its a separate utility.http://www.eightforums.com/general-support/45479-window-8-1-drivers-help-needed.html
Where can i find the Intel d845grg2 graphic driver win 7 Ultimate 32bit, i have just upgraded to windows 7 from XP and when trying to download the drivers from the internet it seems their is no any compatible driver. Intel seems to have stopped supporting win 7 in that particular motherboard.

I don't see any either, you can try using Compatibility Mode on the older driver.http://www.sevenforums.com/drivers/373545-window-7-graphic-drivers.html

Hi: Install all the drivers listed under the chipset section. If your model has an Intel graphics adapter, just install the Intel HD graphics driver listed under the graphics section. You need the Realtek ethernet driver under network. You need the Realtek card reader driver under storage. I don't know what model wireless card your model uses, so please do the following and I will figure that out and tell you what drivers you need for that. Go to the device manager and click on the device named Network Controller. Then click on the Details tab at the top of the Network Controller window. Now you see a Property drop down list and it is defaulted to Device Description. Drop down on that list and select the item named Hardware ID's. Post the top string of characters you see in the window that start with PCI\VEN. After you install the drivers I suggested you should have most of the devices installed. You can find the hardware ID for any remaining devices needing drivers using the above approach and I will post the links to those too. Unknown devices first line will not start with PCI\VEN. But post the top line for any of those too.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-System-and-Recovery/DRIVERS-FOR-WINDOW-7-32-BIT-FOR-HP-240-G3-MODEL/td-p/4781872
I have a HP ProBook 4520s that had Windows 7 but when Windows 10 was released I upgraded.
Now the question is can I down load drivers for Win7 to Win10?
If the hardware is compatible, Windows will install most drivers. It may only install the generic, basic function, High Definition Audio Drivers instead of the correct hardware driver.
What specific driver do you need? (what doesn't work?) Some Win 7 drivers are compatible and some are not.
I upgraded to Windows 7 from Vista and can no longer run wireless. My wireless service is fine. I am missing drivers to run it. I contacted Toshiba, they said contact Microsoft. No luck. Any idea where I can get these? I also need the software to run my HP Deskjet 3740 printer. Thank you!
What is the exact model number for the computer? Also, please Publish a Snapshot using Speccy.http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/326194/window-7-upgrade-missing-drivers/
This is very old question but links in previous related thread is not working... Looking for window 7 drivers for Envy M4-1115dx. I need to downgrade because my company uses win7. Hi: You should be able to use the W7 x64 drivers and software from the m6t-1000 notebook on yours, except the BIOS and firmware files. http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-m6-1000-Entertainment-Notebook-PC-series... Solved: Re: Lenovo G500 WIndows 10 drivers - Lenovo Community
Lenovo does not make drivers, it is just a reseller. If the hardware is not supported, there is nothing it can do.
That said, everything might work, 8.1 drivers are mostly compatible with 10, so you will not know, until you try.
How do I manually update drivers on Window 7. Auntomatic updates are not working, no matter what I do. I've tried everything posted.https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/be0175b7-2210-4212-8533-8ff9c9c065f6/manually-update-drivers-on-window-7?forum=w7itprohardware

I upgraded my Asus K53U laptop to windows 8 and ran the refresh utilities to remove bloatware because there was an error message about missing files. the refresh cleared that up but also disabled the multi-finger gestures for the touchpad. I loved that feature!
I have downloaded the drivers for this laptop from the Asus website but they won't install.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
UPDATE: Ok, I figured it out. There are no Windows 8 drivers. I had to install Windows 7 64 bit drivers. And not the Synaptics drivers that everyone says to try. My laptop touchpad is Elan something. Once I searched the Asus website for Windows 7 drivers I found them.
I love my touchpad with Windows 8! It's almost like having a touch screen. Sort of. :-)

I have some problem with missing drivers. I have dual boot window 7 and Window XP professtional. All window 7 drivers are properly installed yet Window XP currently show missing drivers as following.
missing drivers in XP.JPG 16.03KB
I already install Audio_Realtek_220.127.116.1158 , iAMT_Intel_18.104.22.1689 , yet unable to find SM BUS Controller driver. Would you please help clarify which driver i am missing ? Also, I would most appreciate if you would provide direct link to download.
When trying to find appropriate drivers...it helps if we know the system manufacturer and model. If self-built, then the motherboard manufacturer and model. There are no universal drivers for every system, other than those for keyboard, mouse, monitor, optical drive, and USB function.

after installing the drivers of my video card (radeon hd 5770) i restarted the pc and i couldn't open any programs, i saw the desktop but no icons. taskmng.exe didn't even work. when i start the pc in safe mode and uninstall the video card it works fine.
Are you installing the drivers from the CD or did you download them. If it was from the CD you should download the latest drivers for W7.
This is assuming this is a desktop system. If it is not select your own drivers At ATI

Make sure you have the latest wireless driver from your laptop manufacturer's web site.
Delete all wireless profiles. Then try again to connect.
Please attach a screen shot of the Networks page of the Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector and show ...
Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:
(For Vista or 7 type CMD in the Search box after Start)
Type the following command:
[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]
Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.
If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.
Hi I have an IBM T Thinkpad laptop running Windows XP with CISCO Aironet Client Utility installed to manage my wireless networks I don t understand the point of this utility as I find the Windows XP wireless connection management more reliable and straightforward but I don t know how to disable this thing I would if I could and I have tried although not that Wireless LAN CISCO PCI Auto-Connect Adapter Won't Wireless to (Aironet) Network hard Anyway I was using the CISO Aironet Client Utility or whatever it s called CISCO PCI Wireless LAN Adapter (Aironet) Won't Auto-Connect to Wireless Network fine then I visited a friend s house and needed to get on his network He started poking around and one day it was working and the next it was broken It kept saying CISCO PCI Wireless LAN Adapter (Aironet) Won't Auto-Connect to Wireless Network it couldn t find a radio signal or that it was off I came home and it wasn t working for a month or CISCO PCI Wireless LAN Adapter (Aironet) Won't Auto-Connect to Wireless Network so One day I messed around with it and it started working again Only problem now is whenever I shut down my laptop and re-open it it never reconnects to my wireless connection automatically I always have to do it by hand Any suggestions here How can I get it to reconnect automatically and if I can t how can I get it to use the Windows wireless features that are built in and bypass this CISCO stuff Thanks nbsp

I have a problem with my home wireless network. My network operatates at 2.4 GHz and so does my home wireless phone. Everytime my phone rings I get disconnected from my wireless network. Is there anything I can do to fix this problem?
Welcome to Tech Spot
Do you have 802 B or 802 G wireless?
When I was in Best Buy, one of the sale people mentioned how 2.4 GHZ phone interferes with 802 B Wireless networks (uses same frequencies).
He mentioned that 802 G wireless network were not affected with the phones.
when i double click the icon in my systray of the the flashing monitor, which opens my wireless network connection status window, the number next to Speed fluctuates between 11.0 Mbps to 54.0 Mbps. I just updated my dlink wbr 2310 routers firmware to 1.03 from 1.02 because previously i was getting randomly disconnected. Its only been a couple days, but i havnt yet noticed that ive been randomly disconnected anymore, but now my connection speed fluctuates, where with the old firmware, i never once saw it change. what could be causing this change? as its screwing up my online gaming, causing me to lag when it drops way down. I never had a problem with the speed changing before, and cant find any setting that looks like it could be linked to such an event, though im no networking expert, so i may be missing something. what does anyone think of this problem? thanks.
google for a program called Network Stumbler. When it runs, you can see other
wifi systems near by and the real asset is the disclosure of all the channels in use.
pick a channel that is not used
monitor what activities you are performing when the connection rate changes;
it's likely that it only occurs when you're gaming. In that case, the stress of the
networked game is the actual cause of the rate change.
I have a Linksys WRT54G router. 2 my laptops are running Windows XP Service Pack 2.
Router configured as follows
-SSID BROADCAST DISABLED
-WIRELESS MAC FILTER ENABLED
- Permit only PCs listed to access the wireless network (2 MACs entered)
- PASSWORD CHANGED
Despite all these configuration steps network considered as "UNSECURED WIRELESS NETWORK".
What to do to make it secure?
The reason it says that is because you are not using WEP, WPA, etc to secure the network. If there was a network key required then it would say "secured" if not, it says "unsecured". It does not detect that you have mac filtering, only that you have no network key.
Your network is just as secure with mac filtering(probably more) than using WEP.
If you'd like to test this, just remove one of your mac addresses then try to access the network.
If you still want to secure it using a network key, just look in the section for wireless security, you should find encryption settings. Just enter a WEP key using 64 or 128 bit HEX, I'd not suggest using ascii and you might want to stick to 64 bit if you are using cross branded hardware.
I have a wireless-G linksys USB network adaptor (2.4 GHz 802.11g) that cannot pick up my wirless network. It is however picking up numerous other networks surrounding my house. Right now I'm using my Toshiba laptop that is connected to the same home network that my linksys adaptor cannot find.
Can anyone offer my any advice as to how to find my wireless network through my USB adaptor hooked up to my desktop computer? I know how to access my router information (Enter 192.168.1.1 for linksys and all that other good stuff) but do not know what exact settings I may needto change in order to have my desktop computer recognize the home network.
Is something perhaps hidden on the router information? Or is my adaptor out of date? Any info would be appreciated. Thank you

I've had wireless on this pc before A while back we had a tech come out from out internet provider to fix a few things and we told him we already have a few other devices on our wireless network so it may be a better idea to connect through an ether-net cord to our main pc for a more secure connection That has worked fine for the most part but now there's a different problem and I think I need to be able to connect wireless in order to fix it If it matters the problem is that any game I try to patch via the game launcher times-out I actually spoke with a CSR from Square Enix he said it may have to do with the port-forwarding then I spoke with a rep in technical support from our local provider and she said there is no port forwarding through the ir ether-net but it wireless longer driver/Can't has Computer a detect wireless network no is available through wireless So that's essential what has brought me here I'll upload a couple of pics so you can actually see that A Computer no longer has a wireless driver/Can't detect wireless network There is no wireless enabled on my pc at all and B There's no wireless driver - just the one on my driver list that tbh I don't know much about I've already tried uninstalling the driver then re-installing didn't detect anything Computer no longer has a wireless driver/Can't detect wireless network I've tried power-cycling my modem I've messed around with every option in the quot Network and Internet quot settings in my control panel I've checked all around the outside of my pc JUST IN CASE it's weird and has a switch somewhere that enables disables wireless Just to confirm yes there is indeed wireless being transmitted throughout our home We have phones a DS and a smart tv hooked up to it So does anyone have any recommendations beyond what I've already done

Hello TSG Forums I Network Adapter Not Working! Missing Icon; Wireless Wireless ve got quite the challenge for you guys Missing Wireless Network Icon; Wireless Adapter Not Working! I ve gone through two different tech support lines three computer savvy friends and every troubleshooting trick and tip I could scour off of the internet All efforts have been in vain thus far Missing Wireless Network Icon; Wireless Adapter Not Working! So as to not make this post too long I ll get to the point I recently bought a new wireless adapter to connect to the internet with Previously I was using an older adapter that my room mate was lending me a Motorola Wireless USB Adapter WU G to be exact At first when I installed the motorola it didn t work I can t remember what I did to make it work for the life of me but I eventually twisted my computer s arm enough that it gave in Now it s uninstalled from my computer along with I hope all the drivers and programs that were using it So I bought a new adapter Belkin Wireless G Plus MIMO USB Network Adapter - F D read the instructions carefully and made sure that it was installed just as the manual says Install the software wait for the prompt etc etc Everything seemed to be going smoothly until I tried to configure my connections Where the wireless detects all the access points and you put in your WEP key etc The wireless adapter seemed to be doing nothing The device manager showed the adapter with no problems and no errors but the program was stubbornly pretending that my wireless adapter didn t exist After trying multiple USB ports uninstalling reinstalling with no progress I concluded to myself that the adapter must be defective The LED light came on now and then but it was slow and very seldom I assumed that it was only recognizing that it had power So after ensuring that the previous adapter was completely uninstalled I take it back to my retailer and trade it off for a new model of a similar price D-Link DWA USB n Adapter - DWA This one upon installing at least seemed more active The LED light would blink now and then as if it were pinging for a signal of some sort So I install it again making sure that I m following the instructions to the letter When the installation finishes and it goes directly into the connection configuration it gives me an error And I quote quot Wireless Adapter not found Please insert the adapter now quot Again windows recognizes the device no errors no visible problems Also when I open Network Connections there is only my LAN line listed I have no wireless network icon and I can t seem to get it to appear So after several hours of tech support and no progress I turn to my friends who are equally baffled The last hours have been mostly dedicated to scouring the internet for clues to the problem So far I ve gone through a whole bunch of dead ends and a list or two of troubleshooting ideas Nothing so far has helped Here are the things I ve tried so far Everything described on this list unless it pertained to dial up networking Uninstalling and reinstalling the driver and software several times Installing the driver without the software Installing with Wireless Zero Configuration stopped in services msc I m running a Sony VAIO with Windows XP Media Center Edition If you need to know anything else about my setup just ask Please assist if you can I m running out of options Elliot nbsp
I have been having issues with my the Linksys Wireless card I installed in my Desktop computer for some time now For some reason the connection just drops but it still says I am connected I leave a dos window open to watch as it happens by pinging the router All of the sudden it will say quot request timed to connected card says wireless router Wireless ping I but it's my cannot network, out quot but the icon shows that it s still connected to the wireless network I have tried just about everything to overcome this but nothing seems to work Rebooting the router will allow it to work for a few minutes and then it times out again Sometimes it will continue timing out sometimes it will reconnect and sometimes it will says limited or no connection Sometimes hitting repair will do the same thing make it work for a few moments and they down again I have other devices that connect to that router wirelessly and they have no issues at all so I m not prepared to blame the router I noticed that my desktop s event view shows this entry frequently The system detected that network adapter Linksys PCI Adapter Packet Scheduler Miniport was connected to the network and has initiated normal operation over the network adapter Would seeing this event frequently not indicate that the card was dropping often and coming back up I m pretty much ready to run a ethernet cable to the computer but I thought I d check with you guys first before I completely give up on the wireless card nbsp

The each can access the internet perfectly fine...but how do I access the desktop from the laptop. How do I print from the laptop on the printer connected to the desktop. Please help....I have been looking for hours on how to do this and have found no solution.
you can do a remote desktop connection, provided that you enable it on both machines. you'll need the DNS names of both machines, btw.
I recently switched ISPs going from DSL to Cable and that s when everything went wrong In order to get the new network up and running I needed to use a new router I setup this network and everything seemed fine all computers could see and connect to the new network and even the printer could see and connect to the new network For whatever reason I could not get any of the computers one laptop running Windows and one running OSX Snow (I have work wireless Solved: network HP new on tried printer everythi won't wireless Leopard to see the printer wirelessly works fine via USB Solved: HP wireless printer won't work on new wireless network (I have tried everythi It would always say quot printer offline quot Uninstalled an re-installed all printer drivers on all machines printer is an HP Photosmart Solved: HP wireless printer won't work on new wireless network (I have tried everythi C all in one The printer network diagnostic page came back clean indicating that everything was connected correctly but when I pinged the IP address of the printer from the windows machine I d just be bet with a quot timed out quot message This lead me Solved: HP wireless printer won't work on new wireless network (I have tried everythi to think it was something to do with the router so I bought a D-link router and set everything up again Exact same scenario Even after setting the network up with no security options no WEP or WAP security This lead me to do a hard reset on the printer After booting it up again I ran the network setup wizard via the printer s LCD screen and tried to connect to the network This time however the printer won t connect the the network at all I printed the wireless network diagnostics page and it fails the quot No Filtering quot test HPs recommendation came back saying I should check to see if the router has MAC filtering turned on I went back to the router configuration page to see and no it s not conducting any MAC filtering Short of buying a brand new printer or buying some HP support it s out of warranty I don t know what else to try Any ideas would be greatly appreciated and just let me know if you need any further details The cold hard facts Mainly trying to get this working on a Windows laptop but I also have a Macbook pro running Snow Leopard that is experiancing all of the same problems Printer is an HP Photosmart C all in one Routers I ve tried both of these and they seem to have identical results Netgear WPN D-link N this is the router currently installed on the network Cisco modem and our ISP is Time Warner Cable nbsp
