I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

It is possible you have a faulty pack of cd-r`s, especially since the problem has only occured since opening the new pack.

Try some different cd-r`s and see if the problem disappears.

Hello! I have an Aspire P3 and have copied my 2 Recovery Disc to a USB FLASH STICK. When i try to restoreusing the copied DVD files on USB Flash it gets to 98% complete and ask for to put the Recovery Disk 2 in the optical drive and click ok. Why? I have both DVD recoevery disk on the flash drive. Is there a file missing for USB Recovery ?

A:Aspire P3 how to copy my 2 Recovery Disc to a USB ...

My guess is that the recovery disks are designed to be used independently, and the flash drive doesn't know the right file location for the 2nd disk. Not sure how you would fix that. You may have to try to get an optical drive to connect and recover the system.

You have to be careful, I'm not sure what discs you are copying, but not all times do the programs that are used to copy remove the encryption or protection. It very well could have transferred it to the copy as well.

I Am Using A Window Xp Home Addition Software

A:Copy Photos To Cd

Make a folder and put the photos into it. It is a lot easier to record from a normal folder than from Outlook Express, which I am guessing you are using.

If you aren’t familiar with making a folder, open My Documents > My Pictures. File > New > Folder. Type in a name for the new folder. Move the photos from your e-mail to the new folder.

First put a blank CD in the burner. Open the new folder so you can see the individual photo files. Edit > Select All. Edit > Copy. Find the drive that is your CD writer and right click on it. Select “Paste” from the right click menu. Windows will open the XP CD writing window. Have it record the images.

The XP writer records multi-session so you can add more images later. If you have other software you want to use for recording like Nero, RecordNow, Prassi Ones etc, let us know what you want to use.

I have a Toshiba Satelite (T2400) A105-S4134 laptop with 1.99 GB of Ram and I have never been able to highlight photos and copy them to a cd. Media Center Edition 2002. My cd drive and dvd drive are the same. I have never made a dvd either. I can copy to my memory sticks just fine. I am wondering if I have to set up my cd drive before I can use it? I have been able to make music cds, just can't copy photos. Any help would be appreciated. I am working with windows XP system and I bought my computer in Nov 2006. This is my first post. I have never had trouble doing this function with any of my other desktop computers. And where do I find my vista specs? I just guessed what mine was, it was not under system properties in my Control Panel.

A:Copy photos to cd

I wouldn't expect you to need to set up your CD drive in any particular way, but would expect it to have come with some pre-loaded software to allow you to copy files to CD.

What software do you use to make music CDs? I use Nero and this allows me to create both music and data CDs, but typically laptops that come with a burner will have some sort of pre-loaded application. Quite often these come from the manufucturer itself (so the program might be called "Toshiba such-and-such") so it might be worthwhile just checking your Programs folder to see anything that might be labelled in such a way

Also, you mention both XP and Vista. What OS are you actually using?

My question that I would like some feedback on is this---I have been told that it is not a good idea to store or backup your photo history onto CD/DVD discs as they do not last very long. Also apparently due to this poor life length of "DISCS" the selling &/or installation of DVD burners is decreasing. What are the thoughts out there?

Hi:
I want to print few photos which have 'copy-right.'
Copy-right means that I need a permission from the person who took photos, thus no way for me to print photos?

However,
Is there a way to print those photos with Copy-Right?'

Thanks for your help in advance.

A:How to print 'photos' with Copy-Right?

A very interesting question!

You do need permission from the copyright holder. The holder may or may not be the person who took the photo. It can be a complex issue in who actually owns the copyright too...

As a general rule of thumb, the person paying for or commissioning a photo to be taken owns the copyright.

For example, as an amateur photographer, when you take a photo, you own the copyright to it. If you were paid or commissioned to take it, say by me, then I own the copyright (unless a written or verbal contract waiving or transferring the copyright exists.)

You can only safely copy and print the image, conditionally on receiving written or verbal permission to so do from the holder. It will very much depend on several factors:
a) What do you intend to do with the print?
b) The demeanour of the holder. Are they willing to give permission and if so, are there conditions associated? (Such as a fee etc)

If the holder gives permission, they still will hold the copyright. The only legal way to print it, is to ask the holder of the copyright.

I selected a photo (jpeg format) by clicking on it, copying it to the clipboard, then pasting it to the Wordpad file. It shows up as a rectangle but not as a picture. Do I have to first reduce the picture before copying it - what else am I doing wrong?? Print preview also does not show the photo.
Tried to follow instructions in the help files, to no avail.

When I try to do the same thing on a new CD, I keep getting a message for each photo, saying Windows has encountered a problem trying to copy it. I get 3 options: Retry, Skip & Cancel. It seems to be stuck. Why won't my photos copy? Could it be to do with the files themselves? It worked before - why not now? Grateful for any ideas!

When I open the file it shows all of the photo folders, along with default logo thumbnails as opposed to an actual thumbnail of the photo. When I click on properties of each photo it shows the size of the photo as well. But when I click to preview the photo it won't open and shows that the photo may be corrupted, damaged or unsupported.

I no longer have these photos on my hard drive, as may disc's before this one burned properly, so I deleted as I went.

I recently pruchased a new computer with Windows 7 and it recommened making a copy of the OS since they don't furnish a OS disc. How do I make a copy of just the OS? any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

A:OS Copy Disc

Often with new machines there is an option in the Start menu somewhere to create a set of recovery disks. The disks can usually be purchased from the manufacturer for a nominal fee (like $20). But that restores the machine way back to when it was bought, something you would rarely want to do.

Your hard drive probably has a "recovery partition" that will restore your machine if need be. But it is useless if the hard drive fails and you need to replace that. A good disk image backs up everything, your operating system, all your files, and all your installed programs. Making one once a week, for example, means that you can never lose more than a week's changes on your machine.

A better choice is to get the machine set up the way you want and then make an image of the entire drive on an external drive (or DVD's). That way, when you restore the image due to hard drive failure or other problems, you are restoring the system to the way you want it set up instead of all the way back to "factory" settings. You can make other "images" to restore to along the way, too.

Free Disk Imaging Tools:

EASEUS Todo Backup
Runtime Shadow Copy
SelfImage (Open-source)
O&O DiskImage Express
Macrium Reflect
PING (Partimage Is Not Ghost) (Free alternative to Ghost with more features)
Paragon Drive Backup Express
Drive Image XML
G4U - Ghost For Unix (Platform-independent, floppy or CD)
DiscWizard (For Seagate or Maxtor drives - contains reduced version of Acronis)

Don't forget to make the boot CD whichever one you choose. If the machine will not boot the operating system, you can still boot from the CD and use its tools to restore the image you made on the external drive.

The very first image that you make should probably be of the entire drive so that the recovery partition is backed up, too. After that, you only need to make an image of the partition with Windows on it since that is the only one that changes in any way.

A:how to copy my xp onto disc

I suspect the salesman was referring to copying a drive image of your primary partition to a DVD or several CDs.

I just bought an Acer brand that had it's own version of drive imaging software for that purpose when I started the comp for the first time.

As I also have Drive Image 2002, I also copied a drive image onto cds in that format.

If a hard drive fails, use the self booting cds/dvd you made to reinstall the same OS back onto your computer with a new hard drive.
If you get severe corruption from malware, those CDs or dvds are much quicker than going thru the old reinstall procedures.

Also what's nice, is the ability to image that partition after you've installed most of the software you use. It puts you back up and running in minutes instead of hours.

A:Unable to Copy DVD+R disc? Please help.

If the DVD was not compatible with your optical drive or PC, it wouldn't play in PowerDVD.
To make an exact copy of it, you just need to copy it as a "Data" disc using any popular data burning software.
You can either do the copy from "Disc to Disc", or the preferred method of making a "standard ISO disc-image" from the original, then burning the ISO image to a blank DVD+R (using R/W media for recodings you want to last a long time is not recommended).

Burnaware is available as a free version, and should be able to do it: http://www.burnaware.com/burnaware_free.html

1) What free software programs are available, that will be able to copy a MRI disc to a blank disc?

2) I forget how to copy one disc to a blank disc!  :oopsign:Can someone please provide me with directions?

Thanks

The loading bar for makes a tiny bit of progress. When I cancel the process, some files did successfully copy. It seems to just get stuck on .bin files.

There is not error message or crash, it simply the bar just stops moving. It even still reports the speed (always incorrectly, the real speed is 0).

While this has happened before with another disk, I have copied .bin files from disks lots of other times without any hiccups, so it must be something about these specific disc and not my computer.

Also, I doubt this means anything: The icon rather that being the usual generic .bin icon is the VLC traffic cone, and under file type it says "VLC media file (.bin)." I don't think that means anything.

A:Can't copy files from disc

I would guess that the file is corrupted. Especially if it is a large disk image file. It could be that one or more of the sectors holding the file data have errors.

Best to check that disk with chkdsk /r. If I'm correct, that might repair it, but I would make a new image shortly afterward anyway.

A:CD Audio Disc Copy

Hi, first I suggest you get this program http://download.cnet.com/downloads/0-1896422-100-1693537.html then you will have a tool to do what you want to do. (it's free) If your music files are in mp3 format , it is easy, simply make a folder such as "My Music" Open it and then minimize it to half screen, then insert your disc, if it is a mp3 format, you will see a list of files(songs) minimize this screen to the other half of the screen and drag and drop the files you want. The program mentioned above will convert wav to mp3, mp3 to wav, cd to wav, etc, several programs will do this, but Simple seems to be the easiest to use, please post back if you have anymore questions...Rhett

I had 2.4 gigs left of space on my C drive. Well I copied 3 music cds to blank discs and when I was finished it had only like 600 megs left! My question is when you burn and copy cds, does it store them somewhere? And if it does, where can I delete them?

I replaced hard drive yesterday and had a few minor hichups. One is part fixed after reloading Office2003 I hope.

However, there seems to be some sound issues.
Board is Intel Perl 865 and uses onboard sound (Sound Max) and all was great before hard drive replacement including original hard drive.

When starting PC all seems fine as I can use Media Player and Creative to hear music. I can start il2 (flight sim) and sound is fine. However when I start up Microsoft CSF3 (also flight Sim) I get no sound. When I then check sound in other items mentioned above sound is gone. I have copied backup over CSF3 but nothing changed.

When doing disc copy with WD Lifeguard it said some files had a problem. I'm thinking that a file related to sound has a problem and activation of Microsoft CSF3 causes problem which cannot be rectified without reboot.

Cheers

I think your best bet would be to buy one of those scratch dr kits where you wipe in little swirls or one of those things you put the cd in and crank the handle. It reads with a laser, if its damaged or too scratched, theres nothing for the laser to read.

You need to burn it to disc using your writing software (Nero?)

Also check:

Start--> Run--> services.msc
IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service is not disabled, and is started (you can just double click on the service to change its startup)
This will allow you to drag and drop directly to blank media in My Computer

i already made some research on how to make it but nothing seems clear to me on how to really perform it. thank you in advance.

You didn't need to reinstall the OS just because it was in French, you could have changed the Default language in the Control Panel/Region and Language. If you have a Windows 7 DVD, you have the choice to make a second partition

A:how to reinstall a fresh copy of vista without a disc

Welcome
You can restore to factory specs
You can check online or use your manual to find out how
If you did not receive a manual, the method involves hitting an f key during boot.
Uusually f11 or 12
If you have problems post your computer make and model and we will help.

You must have had Vista on the computer ,when purchased, as you never installed it yourself.

I have just purchased a Video DVD which the author recommends copying to a hard drive as a backup. It is not copy protected. A Google search suggests copying to a disk image and then copying the image to the HD but does not say how to. If I succeed in making the copy will I be able to run the programme (A tutorial) in the same way it runs from the DVD drive which is rather noisy? Ideally I would like a solution that is not too expensive!

A:Solved: Copy a DVD video disc to a hard drive?

Simply make a folder on your HD. Put the DVD into your drive and 'Explore' it. Now simply Copy, then Paste the VIDEO_TS folder from your disc to your hard drive. Exploring the VIDEO_TS folder look for the VIDEO_TS.IFO file, double click it. You might to associate it with your media player first. You could create a shortcut to the file on your Desktop for quick play.

Is it safe to burn a W7 installation ISO image using the 'exact copy' option, meaning making an exact duplicate from an already existing CD. Or is it safer to burn a CD from the original ISO file? Wouldn't the 'exact copy' option have higher chances for data corruption, especially since it is a boot/installation CD?

A:Is it safe to Burn an exact copy of Windows 7 Installation Disc

I'm not sure of your questions. The official .iso file is an exact copy of the disc in file form. Whether you copy the original disc or make a disc from the original .iso file, you should end up with the same thing. I'd probably opt for the .iso file, because the burn would go faster, but that's the only difference.

New to the forums kind of a novice with computers and I'm at a loss with what to do Okay so my Acer Aspire running Windows Premium Home bit was acting funny so I decided to do a system restore So I put in the Acer Recovery Discs that I made when I first purchased the computer Now I have Recover failing Disc missing, to copy... BOOTMGR Acer used this discs before with no problems at all So I put the first disc in selected the option to do a complete system restore back to factory defaults It's my understanding that this completely wipes the OS off the HDD So the first disc ran with no problems I put the second disc in and got an error message Fail to copy to HDD D Patch Modules WIncre WOP OX TCB SWM Press BOOTMGR missing, Acer Recover Disc failing to copy... OK to continue I press OK to continue and it boots back to the BIOS screen Then it goes to a black screen and says BOOTMGR IS MISSING PRESS CTRL ALT DEL TO CONTINUE So I put the recovery disc back in to try the process over again and same thing happens Any help you guys could offer would be greatly appreciated

A:BOOTMGR missing, Acer Recover Disc failing to copy...

According to the Users Guide:

Quote:
To start the recovery process:
1 Restart the system.
2 While the Acer logo is showing, press <Alt> + <F10> at the same time to
enter the recovery process.
3 Refer to the onscreen instructions to perform system recovery.
Important! This feature occupies 15 GB in a hidden partition on
your hard disk

See if that works for you.

Man I didn't even know how to title this one My Objective here is very simple but getting there complicated by hdwe amp sftwr issues The objective is simply to move a Win image from a big old-style desktop SATA copy for issue prep machine ... migration Thorny other disc drive to a lean cool tiny laptop drive - in this case the laptop drive is gb and the old drive gb Should be a piece of cake on a robust machine but it is on a little Aopen XCcube that isn't quite healthy it has two banks x sata ports but for unknown reason can only read SATA so I am Thorny migration issue ... disc copy prep for other machine really limited on how Thorny migration issue ... disc copy prep for other machine to get a bunch of stuff up simultaneously I used Paragon to shoot the image but their recovery media is having a lot of issues trying to work with my hdwe bios SOOOOO I'm copying the archive over to my lab mule which is a very different sys than the little XCcube Then I'll put the laptop HDD cleanly blank formatted into the quot quot position on the lab mule and the working mule drive in the position and boot from it run paragon recover the image to the laptop drive and then go back to the 'cube MY QUESTION is this When a blank drive is in the SATA position when the system starts up is the BIOS going to trigger something to be marked on that drive that is going to cause me activation or boot issues on the intended target system

A:Thorny migration issue ... disc copy prep for other machine

You can try imaging it using Acronis 10+ with universal restore which removes all the drivers and activation to prepare it to start on new hardware.

Paragon Adaptive Restore CD can do the same thing before starting the reimaged HD.

Or you can use SysPrep on the source HD to do the same thing with the Win7 installer, then image it over to the laptop using free macrium Reflect or Paragon 10, even Win7 backup imaging: Windows 7 Installation - Transfer to a New Computer

Suggest you remove activation before reimaging using slmgr -upk command, then if necessary on the new install slmgr -ipk followed by a space and Product Key, then activate at Computer>Properties or using slmgr -ato.

Can anyone help me to get a movie that I downloaded from Amazon to play in my DVD player? I bought and downloaded the TV show/ShowTime movie "Dead Like Me- Pilot" from Amazon. It doesn't play very well on my computer and when I right click it and click on properties it says it is a
"Windows Media™ Video File".
My new Sony DVD player says its supposed to play Windows media files, plus a bunch of others. I used my Nero program to put the file on a DVD disc but my player doesn't think that there's anything on it. Is there any way to get it to play in a regular DVD player?
Thanks

It seems that any time I edit a photo in Windows 10 Photos (i.e. crop, filters, etc.), then save a copy of the edited photo, Windows 10 automatically reduces the resolution of my photo. This is causing an issue when I then try to print the edited photos or use them in photo books. Is there a way to save the edited images in the same high resolution as the original photo?

Hello.

I want to copy all photos to my pc. I followed this tutorial: Transfer Files via Bluetooth Between Phones & Windows 7 PCs

My menu does not have receive file. Do I need any other software?

A:How to copy all photos from windows phone to windows 7 pc?

Hello Lovew7,

Is this a Windows Phone 8?

If so, you could also use OPTION ONE in the tutorial below with the Windows Phone app. The Windows Phone app allows you to easily move or sync files between your Windows Phone 8 and a computer. When you install the Windows Phone app, you would just need to connect your Windows Phone 8 to your PC using a USB cable to be able sync using the app.

Windows Phone App - Sync with your PC

Hope this helps,
Shawn

It looks like your recovery partition is corrupted. You never want to rely on the recovery partition, because if your hard drive fails, the recovery partition goes down with it. The erecovery manager should've prompted you to make the recovery discs when you first started up the computer. It doesn't cost any money to make them. Since you don't havbe erecovery discs, it looks like you are going to have to clean install Windows 7 (which I prefer because it doesn't have all of the bloatware that you would have if you ran erecovery) To clean install Windows 7 on your computer, please follow this tutorial and post back with any questions: Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

I have Vista Home Premium with Microsoft Photo Gallery on my Dell Inspriron 1721 laptop. I?m using a machine to transfer slides to a SD card then uploading them to Photo Gallery. Photos transfer Ok except the order of the photo gets scrambled somehow during upload. In other words, the photos on the SD card are in chronologically order but after uploading, when I view them in Photo Galley, the order is all mixed up. I know you can manual move them around but it?s hard to be sure of the original order and it is very time consuming when you have hundreds of photos. I would appreciate any suggestions on how to fix them. FYI I would call myself a novice user of Photo Gallery.

A:Uploading photos from a SD memory card into Photo Gallery scrambles order of photos

Will the Photo Gallery sort by name? You could prefix the photo names with numerical sequence. A utility like
Introduction - Bulk Rename Utility will do it easily. It's free.

Edit: if that looks too busy, the multi-renamer in FreeCommander is a bit simpler to use. [c] before the name prepends a number starting at what you select and incrementing by what you choose. Just press F2 when in the folder.
