Spectre x360 touchpad

Q: Spectre x360 touchpad

hi i recently bought HP Spectre x with highest specs an d i'm facing some real serious issues with the touchpad clickpad as many others in this forum and reviewers pointed out the clicks are not being recognized In my case I'd say it is around of the clicks don't get registered and I have to click again to make it work That is really frustrating and enough to make me come here and post this question I really like the laptop and this is exactly what I've been looking for but this clickpad is a real deal breaker I followed some suggestions on this forum and also tried some troubleshooting myself since i Spectre touchpad x360 myself is a support engineer but Spectre x360 touchpad to no avail I changed the synaptics settings to try and remove too much intelligence from the Spectre x360 touchpad touchpad and at least get the basic functionality right but i continue to miss the clicks I also tried replacing the driver with synaptic one but the problem continues which tells me that it is something related to the hardware piece than the software driver can someone here please help me with this if i hadn't liked the laptop i wouldn't bother posting here to try and find a solution i'd simply get rid of it and go with lenovo yoga pro or something else but this laptop has really high build quality and classy looks but probably killed by this buggy piece of hardware nbsp

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Just ruled out malware in other section of this forum. Laptop's integrated keyboard suffers intermittent lock-ups for no apparent reason (sometimes works, sometimes doesn't, right now, doesn't). Touchpad seems deactivated (tried FN + F7 in case of accidental disable, but that's not the case), every option related to touchpad are grayed out in 'mouse' menu (config panel). Before malware check-up,tried system restore to last week, all problems were still there, so I reverted back. I have to use visual keyboard to type. Have to work with external mouse because touchpad doesn't work. Tried reinstalling touchpad drivers from Acer website, and didn't work. Computer worked perfect a few days ago.

A:Acer aspire 5749-6823 keyboard intermittent, touchpad a.w.o.l.

Sounds like you may have some system files corrupt. This can occur after a lot of spyware. Some times just removing it dose not correct what it has already messed up. Your best maybe to back up your personal stuff. Then do a factory reinstall.

I have a toshiba satellite pro and usually use the touchpad with my right hand rather than a mouse. I attached an external mouse for my daughter to use, and changed the settings to lefthanded. I disconnected and shut down. Since then, each time I restart the computer, the touchpad does not work correctly. Instead of double clicking on the touchpad, I have to rightclick. I have to go into mouse settings on control panel, and move the double click speed, click apply and then the touchpad works correctly then. Why is this? Please help.

Are you referring to the the right side scroll bars on laptop touch pads that allow you to scroll up and down pages?

I have this Hp Probook 4540s i3(windows 8, 64bit) for about a year and it was working fine but recently, I noticed that it had a problem. At times, the touchpad would freeze and I wouldnt be able to use it for a few seconds. At first this wasnt much of a problem due to the fact that I had an external mouse but now im travelling more often so this became a problem. I was jsut wondering if anybody knew what caused this problem and if they do, if there were any quick fixes towards it.

A:Touchpad Freezes

Go to the HP driver support for your model and get the latest drivers for the touch-pad.
You might have to find out who makes that touch-pad and get it from the manufacturer
Or see if there is Windows update for it.
Did you update to Windows 8.1 yet?
Also there are known issues with Windows 8 and some touch-pads know working correctly.

Hi Aarby,

Some computers have keyboard shortcuts which could be a separate key on the keypad or a combination of the Fn + any other Function key depending on the system model for enabling or disabling the touchpad. Since you have not mentioned the system model of your computer, some steps you may try are:

1.Go to Control Panel > Mouse > Device Settings>Click Enable (if disabled).

2.Check under Mouse Properties in Control Panel>Hardware>Mouse. There may be a check-box for Disable Touchpad/Pointing Stick when external USB mouse is present. If this is checked and you connect an external mouse to your laptop, the touchpad may be disabled.

Additionally, we recommend you check the system manual or try some of the steps mentioned in the link below.

Click on this Microsoft link to troubleshoot Mouse, touchpad, and keyboard problems in Windows:

Hope this helps resolve the issue. Please reply if you have further queries.

Thanks & regards,

So I needed to disable the touch pad on my laptop and the icon in the task bar was not there like it was, I needed to re-install cause things were getting slow everything works like it should now. But I went to the Control Panel and went to where you would disable the touch pad and the disable button is grayed out. I don't know why and I want to disable it.

I have a Toshiba Satellite E205, Win 7. A small icon with a picture of the touchpad keeps appearing in the middle of my screen, quickly followed by a similar one, but with a red circle. The mouse or touchpad then freezes briefly. By looking in Task Manager, Processes, I see that this is accompanied by the appearance of touchpadED.exe, which then disappears from processes. I think it started when I unplugged a USB hub with mouse and keyboard from my computer while it was still on. I removed and reinstalled the Synaptics Touchpad driver from Toshiba, ran virus scan and malware software, and cannot stop the process in Task Manager. How can I get rid of this problem??

Hi! First of all, as I couldn't find a cause, I didn't know where to post this thread. If I posted somewhere wrong, please, move it to the correct place. Thank you

Today, I was using my laptop normally when, out of the blue, my touchpad started to behave strange. It would not move around the screen by itself, but its functions were all messed up. I tried reinitialization, restoring the system, removing and installing the synaptics driver, removing the driver again and installing no driver. Nothing worked. In safe mode was the same. The "touch click", however, worked a little. The touchpad now can't be used.
It's Win7 Home Premium 64bit. I was using at that moment, Skype, Opera, Gom Player, iTunes, firewall Comodo, antivirus Avira, Yahoo widgets and other system softwares I can't remember.
What can I do?

A:Touchpad functions messed up

Yes that tpad need to be replaced. Drivers can only do so much. I have since 2005 and it acts so bad, but can't get parts for it. I just use one of those mini blue LED wireless mouse from MS or Logitech with the mini USB dongle. To fix your issue depends if you in or out of warranty. Cost and labor will add more than buy $40 buck or less wireless mini mouse. My 2010 Windows 7 64-bit one seems to act up already. I just got MS 3500 blue LED mini mouse to use with it. To send it back for repair wont' be cheap I would have to foot the bill to sent it back in on 15.6" Still tpad works but if I type to fast and the pressure from my palms is where the trouble is.

I am thinking that maybe that is a 64bit, if so then you are having a driver conflict, i suggest that you make sure you have the right drivers from the Dell website for your Laptop, or check you Even viewer logs to see what could be the cause of that problem.

You should be able to disable the touchpad in the bios but that will most likely disable the pad and the buttons but it should be permanent.

I have acquired a slightly used D620 however the touch-pad and track stick do not seem to be working at all. Neither of the buttons on the touch pad work either. My external USB mouse is functioning perfectly. I have reinstalled drivers from Dell Support, tried drivers from other models, and reinstalled Windows when I noticed the hardware manager wasn't even detecting the touch-pad at all. I also tried to change around the touch-pad options in the BIOS settings but nothing has led to success. My next step is to remove and reconnect the touch-pad and track stick/ keyboard. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks a bunch, in advance, for your help.

I opened up the laptop lifted the keyboard and noticed the poorly designed touchpad cable attachment system. It is so closely stuck to the palm rest/ keyboard boarder that it disconnects from the motherboard with the slightest lift of the palm rest. My guess that an inexperienced Geek Squad member probably cleaned out the unit and didn't bother to check for the attachment of the wire to the motherboard. Anyway, my problem is solved.

Fairly common problem in that model if the laptop gets rugged use.
Often that problem is caused by a small wire plug-socket becoming detached.
You can remove the bezel and keyboard, and reseat it and usually ahve success... if not, purchase a used bezel... because the operational chips are attached to the bezel electronics. In some cases you have to replace the keyboard and the bezel... total cost about $45 on eBay.

This is also happening when using the arrow keys on the keyboard when scrolling in a long web page. Now I am noticing input lag while typing. It does not do this when using a USB mouse(the mouse lag only). I have tried to restore, uninstall drivers, install new drivers(synoptics and Toshiba ones) and it still does it. I tried with and without a battery. I Turned off virus protection. Nothing has changed the input lag yet. Wondering if I need to reinstall windows 7 64bit as this really annoys me.

Hi . Have, or do you do any maintainence to Windows? With a problem like this, I would do some work on the registry, I use the Freeware program called 'Winmend registry defrag 1.3.4'. You can download it from It is a 'light' program, and unlikely to do harm (as some can). Do a backup of your current registry as a safety precaution, before the scan. Also try 'CCleaner', as a general scan of your system to clear up any further 'problems'. I use these programs often, along with 'Auslogics Disc defrag 3.1.'

You could try, in device manager, right-click on 'Mice and other pointing devices', choose 'uninstall'. Then re-boot. Windows should discover the touchpad again. I was asked to look at an Acer Aspire which had the same problem. I think I would lift up the keyboard, see if it's possible to find the plug from the touchpad to the motherboard. Unplug it. Re-boot windows. Shut down. Plug it back in, re-boot Laptop and if all is well it should force windows to find it again and install the drivers.

A:Laptop touchpad and keyboard problems

Zif cables

You need to be really careful when taking apart a notebook..the ZIF cables (Zero Insertion Force) sometimes called Flex Cables are extermely fragile...the connector on the motherboard has little slides that you pull out, then remove the ZIF connector, the cable will go in/out with "Zero Force" To install make sure the slide is OUT, then put the ZIF cable in and you push the slide back in...cable connected. If you just pull these cables out and try to force them back in you will shred the ends and the keyboard/touchpad/etc won't work.

if only SOME of the keyboard does not work, like a small area, maybe the 1, 2, q, w, a, keys..that means the ZIF cable is not inserted all the way...reseat the cable and it should work fine..

Many of these cables can be bought for $5 or so on eBay if you need to replace them...I have bought several of them from a guy..I can get his information if you need it.

I hope someone can help me with this weird problem
My laptop is Satellite U405-S2833 with 1.2 GB Core 2 duo.

It came with a Vista home premium operating system, but I later added XP professional to it (Dual booting)
About 10 months ago, the touchpad as well as the 3 USB ports stopped functioning. Two of the ports will not recognize peripherals, but could power the items, while the third was totally redundant. Since then, I have been using an express card USB adapter for attaching an external mouse and other peripherals. The problems were occurring in both operating systems.
Laptop technicians have had a look at it to no avail.

Here comes the weird part: On occasions when I had to repair or install windows, the pad works perfectly, only to stop working after windows has fully installed.

NB: I have updated the BIOS to the latest version (4.0). Windows 7 RC also exhibited the same problem

BIOS provides USB support before Windows starts which is why it works in BIOS but not Windows.

I suggest the best place to start is recovering your files/folders. You can probably just skip to Step 2 for your case See How to recover your folders/files when Windows won?t boot

Then you can comfortably try fixing your computer (which might need a full reformat/reinstall)

Laptop is an advent So I ve got problems with my touchpad in as much as it doesn t work To make it work I have to go into the device manager and uninstall the Synaptics PS Port Pointing Device then restart and it works fine Only problem is Windows automatically detects it when you restart and the next time you restart it finishes the installation and then the touchpad doesn t work again I can t disable only uninstall issues Laptop touchpad I can disable it through the mouse options in Control Panel but that doesn t make any difference I ve tried using updated synaptic touchpad drivers and none at all just the generic one s Windows installs even did a fresh install of XP I m giving it to my dad anyway but that didn t make any difference either The BIOS is pretty limited and there is nothing Laptop touchpad issues resembling legacy USB support so I can t turn that off I also found two files under Driver Details through Device manager C WINDOWS system drivers i prt sys and C Laptop touchpad issues WINDOWS system drivers mouclass sys deleted both of those files just to see if it would make any difference but it didn t do anything As soon as you restart it Laptop touchpad issues doesn t work again I m getting around it at the moment by disabling the plug and play service but that s not a fix my dad will be mainly using it for watching movies and tv on the go so needs the plug and play functionality for external devices The laptop is fairly new a few months and I haven t even been using it the touchpad for like - months it s been on my desk being used with synergy and my normal mouse keyboard I only noticed it didn t work when I went to take it somewhere the other day and I couldn t use the touchpad That s why I wasn t too bothered about reinstalling XP as I thought maybe the synergy installation had messed with it somehow but even after a fresh install it s the same The touchpad works just not when Windows installs what it wants to to get it to work if I could somehow stop just the auto update for the touchpad it would be fine Any thoughts nbsp

Knowing someone's location in the world can be extremely helpful, even if you just put a country.

Also remember to post any problems or questions that you have in the appropriate forums

With regards to your problem, it sounds like a hardware problem, but you could try going to the Sony website and downloading the latest drivers that they have for the touchpad and keyboard, this may solve the problem.

Sony's aren't always very reliable so if installing the drivers doesn't work, it sounds like it's faulty I'm afraid You could use an external mouse and keyboard, but that kind of defeats the object of having a laptop, really.

My laptop ACER Aspire is struggling The symptoms are It started with the keyboard behaving oddly First random keys didn t work mostly the s key Then whilst booting usb touchpad, Laptop and keyboard, - pcmcia malfunction beeping sounds would prevent the booting process However I was still able to boot by using f Both these symptoms indicated that a key was being pressed assuming the s key since this was usually the one behaving strangely Therefore I removed some keys and cleaned underneath This didn t seem to make much difference More and more keys would stop working after booting However once the laptop has quot warmed up quot minutes or so after it has been turned on all keys are again working The touchpad has stopped working The ACPI reports battery power incorrectly It indicates that there is only minutes of power left when charged However I Laptop - keyboard, touchpad, pcmcia and usb malfunction have verified that there is actually minutes When the battery indicator reached around I Laptop - keyboard, touchpad, pcmcia and usb malfunction let the computer run until the battery was drained This draining took more than half an hour where it should have been a matter of minutes considering that the indicator said that only was left The PCMCIA slot has stopped working The mobile phone that I connect to the laptop via a USB port is having trouble getting reasonable Internet speeds I have tested the phone on another laptop with the same configuration and the same cable and here speeds are as expected My assumption is that the laptop is not generating enough power which results in these strange patterns Can anyone offer a diagnosis and advice on how to proceed nbsp

A:Laptop - keyboard, touchpad, pcmcia and usb malfunction

No solid ideas to offer you. I suggest that you experiment a bit.

Run on battery only (since it is capable of being fully charged).
Use external keyboard and mouse. Some laptops accept a ps2 y-connector so both can be used at the same time. Mine does not, as an example.
I have not tried USB connectivity for either the KB or the mouse. While battery is considered a stable power source, remove the battery and run off the adapter. This will check out the filter & regulator.

Yours symptoms are many. However, replaceable parts on a laptop are hard to do without professional help. Opening the case & looking for loose or pinched cables may not be worth the risk/hassle.

We tried to plug in a usb mouse but no electricity activity can be seen in it too. USB's not working either. But there are no errors and windows seems to start without any problem. Have a suggestion?

A:Acer 5101 keyboard usb and touchpad are dead

Hook-up and PS/2 keyboard and mouse to your laptop if you have that hookup or use USB Keyboard and mouse. You need to get into the BIOS and see if the keyboard and mouse is enabled.

Also by doing it this way you can also see under XP what happen. Try removing the battery from the laptop and try it again...

When I diseable the "Synaptics Pointing Device" the L-click is L-click, buy R-click does nothing. Here what I did allready:
-No virus.
-Vista fully updated.
-Drivers updated.
-Restore point did not work.
-Safe Mode has the same effect.
-External devices work fine.

In any case the R-click does not work. I have kind of pushed the idea away that the Button is malfunctioning, since this is 3 month old laptop, but who knows...

I am dumbfounded?!?

Download the latest drivers, and the previous versions. The Gateway support site works well.
Uninstall the old Synaptics software... even to the point of using something like RegClean to get ALL evidencel out of the registry.
Then shut down. Cold boot, shut down ALL security software, then reinstall in SAFE MODE.
Also, Gateway tech support people are still very good. Talk to them on the phone before you do anything more drastic to protect your warranty.

Hello. Long time no see. My mom has a Gateway mx-3230 laptop that she only wants to use a mouse on. The computer has had a fresh install of XP SP3, and I'm unable to disable the touchpad so she will only have mouse control of the computer.
I've gone into device manager and seen that the only things listed under mouse is the usb mouse that she wants to use, and an item for Microsoft PS2 device. The mouse can be disabled using the "usage" feature at the bottom of the screen. But when I switch to the PS2 listing, "usage" is ghosted out and I can't change that setting. So presently, both the mouse and the touchpad are functioning.
I'm not at her house right now, and can't run SIW etc. to find out the particular touchpad info. Until I can do that, does anyone have a suggestion for disabling only the touchpad? Thanks. Jim

A:Disable touchpad in XP

Laptops which don't automatically disable the trackpad when you plug a mouse in usually have a 'switch' in the form of the Fn key and one of the 'F' keys. Look for a key that has a representation of a mouse or a trackpad on it or even both. I've seen all three variants. And I can't tell you which 'F' key it will be on, this is one aspect of keyboards that is not standardised !
When you do find the relevant key, press and hold the 'Fn' key and press the relevant 'F' key at the same time, then let go. You should get some notification that the trackpad is disabled and it should stay that way until you press the same key combination to switch back at some future time.

A:Pen for HP Pavilion 130 x360

Unless I'm missing something, this is a touch screen which you use your finger to navigate rather than a mouse.  If you are more comfortable using a mouse you can use a usb type with the laptop.  I personally don't know anyone who uses a stylus on a laptop touch screen.
Just out of curiosity, where did you read that you needed to use a "pressure pen"?

Note to Admin: I think this is the operating system itself, as I remember there have been updates inbetween (and after). If this is some sort of virus, I apologize and please move to appropriate thread.
On my HP PC with windows 8.1 I've always been able to just log in. The last 2 days though, the touchpad/keyboard won't react (so I can't insert my password) when I first start the computer. When I then command "restart" (with the mouse, which does work), I get the same loginscreen but this time I can use my touchpad/keyboard.
So this problem is manageble (just always restart after just havign started the computer ), but I would like to understand why it goes wrong at the initial start up. Any ideas?

Granddaughter has new Toshiba laptop with Windows 8.1 and the cusor keeps freezing. I can usually hold down FN+F5 and get working again, but that is temporary. I can plugin my mouse and works all the time.

A:Touchpad keeps freezing

Have you tried cleaning your touchpad? Here's how:
Take a small cloth or paper towel.
Click the left or right key down and rub the key thoroughly. Try to get under the key a bit.
If still needed, take a toothpick, click the key and carefully rub the tooth pick beside the key.
Otherwise you may want to use a mouse, take it to the repair shop or follow another member's advice.

I used to have a lot of problems with the touchpad intermittently freezing; it then worked well for a while but is now misbehaving oddly.
The right and left buttons on the touchpad work normally, but instead of moving the cursor, trying to use the main part of the touchpad scrolls the screen up and down instead.  A USB mouse connected works normally.
It started yesterday.  Only thing I did was run AdwCleaner and delete a registry key it found (I think I had downloaded adware on mistake so I was cleaning it).  It started this behavior a little while later.
ScrollLock doesn't seem to be on and I have tried disabling and re-enabling the touchpad.

We have two accounts. Mine works fine with touchpad, but on the other account the cursor may not be present and if it is it is always frozen. It is a couple week old laptop and both accounts worked fine until today. I can connect a mouse and works fine on both account. I have looked at mouse settings on the non-working touchpad account and can't see any setting that would affect this problem. The non-working account is my granddaughters and having to use a mouse for homework is not always handy (ie. laptop). If this can't be fixed I guess I can have her set-up a new account and try that.    Thanks in advance. mhoss49

Hi mhoss49
May I ask you what is your laptop brand and model? It can easily be found under the laptop, on a sticker, or by going in dxdiag. To do this, press on the Win Key + R keys and enter dxdiag then press on Enter. If you get a message with Yes or No, click on Yes and wait for the dxdiag window to load. You should have two lines called "System Manufacturer" and "System Model". If you could please give me these informations, it would help. Also, I need to know if you're using Windows 8 or Windows 8.1, 32 or 64-bits. You can find this by dragging the mouse in the bottom left corner of your screen, right-clicking on either the Windows logo (if you have Windows 8.1), or the small preview icon that will open (if you are on Windows 8), and from there, click on System. In the window that will open, you'll see which version of Windows you are using. I'll need both of these information as well.

I have a Gateway NE57005u and recently after i replaced the screen my laptop will randomly shut down and the touch pad will sometimes work and sometimes not. If it does work and i swipe to fast on it, the screen will go to grey static and won't reverse to normal until i turn it on and off again. After i replaced the screen the laptop was fine for about two months and now it started doing this about a week ago so i don't know if it is because of the replacement screen or what. I appreciate any help on this matter. Thanks!

Can somebody please help me? This is driving me nuts.
For about a week maybe more, I cannot get the laptop screen to scroll when I use my touchpad.
I have Windows 8, 32bit operating system. I use Google Chrome browser, and my computer had/has Synaptics Device Driver on it. I went into the control panel Mouse section and I get this pop up message (attached). I am not sure if I can uninstall this because I don't know if my mouse won't work at all? I tried installing the driver again, but I don't know if that did anything?
I don't really know anything about this and would be grateful if somebody would help.

Win 7, MSI 7200, Firefox 39....recently I have noticed increasingly that when I try to control my touchpad cursor to hove over a link or anything in a precise way, it is kind of jumpy. In fact, if I simply try to put my finger on the touch pad and hold the cursor still over some object, it moves on its own 1/8 to 1/4 inch. I ran Malwarebytes and it turned up nothing. I checked Device Manager and tried to update the Sentelic finger sensing pad driver and it said it was up to yellow triangle on anything in Device Manager. Any help appreciated.

Alright so I have been having a very The touchpad. possessed strange problem with the touchpad on The possessed touchpad. my netbook I have an old-ish ASUS Eee PC Seashell Series with windows starter on it Since day one of owning it from new I've used a USB wireless mouse and have the setting for the built-in touchpad set to be disabled whenever a USB mouse is being used It has worked fine up until a few weeks ago when the touchpad suddenly began giving me trouble aka working The problem is that with this small computer and incredibly over-reactive pad even with all the sensitivity settings turned to their lowest the touchpad goes utterly nuts while trying to type It's an ELAN Smart-Pad Anyway so I've checked The possessed touchpad. the settings in control panel gt mouse and it's still set to be turned off when the USB mouse is in I've also tried to disable it from those settings and while it lets me check the box and hit apply nothing actually changes A bit of googling gave me the idea of just deleting the drivers for the touchpad The first time I did this it worked after restarting and worked fine for a week or so until I had to actually shut the computer down rather than merely hibernating it Now whenever I go in and uninstall the drivers from the device manager upon the restart it automatically re-installs the drivers on its own I would really appreciate any input anyone has on fixing this the issue is making my computer almost unusable Typing this has taken at least twice as long as it should have due to the touchpad losing its mind constantly and I'm out of ideas as to what to try next I'm The possessed touchpad. getting tempted to crack the thing open and try to unplug the touchpad from the motherboard but this computer is really sealed up tight and I doubt that would go well

Honestly...if you have an HP should get your drivers for basic functions from the HP website.  Theoretically, all drivers for a specific item SHOULD be useable...but "should" is a word that often does not apply to OEM systems, IMO.

I was using a thread on this Microsoft Support to fix my cd rom drive as it wasn't showing up on My Computer, I'd done it before and it worked perfectly fine
I went on the registry subkey:
And deleted 'upperfilters' as per instruction, however there was no 'lowerfilters'
After this I restarted my laptop to see if it worked and my touchpad and keyboard wouldn't work!
I've had to borrow a friends USB mouse but have no keyboard (currently on my iPhone)
I've had to go onto a guest account on my laptop as I am unable to type in my password on my administrator account
Any way I can fix this with just the USB mouse?!

Hi, Any issue with the Touchpad driver or hardware would have no connection to the USB mouse problem. The problem if both are not working sound like a windows issue. With the USB mouse plugged in does it show up the Device Manager? It should show up and load drivers that are provided by Windows. Have you tested the USB ports to see if anything else plugged into them is working?Have You tried System Restore to go back in Time to when the Mouse / Touchpad worked? System Restore should be accessed by going to Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Restore. Our Tutorial on using it is hereWindows Vista System Restore GuideIntroduction to System RestoreSystem Restore is a system recovery feature of Windows that creates snapshots, or restore points, of the state of your computer at various intervals or before you perform a certain task. These restore points can then be used to restore your computer back to the state it was in when they were taken. When these restore points are created, and restored, the only files affected are the Windows Registry, programs, and system files. Your data such as spreadsheets, documents, images, and music remain untouched between restores. You may be wondering why you would want to restore your computer to a previous point. The reason being that there comes a time in every computer user's life that they install a new program, install a new driver, or just turn on the computer and find it no longer works as it did the day before. You have no idea why, can't resolve the problems, and are left with two options. You can either backup your data, reinstall the operating system, and then reinstall all your applications or you can restore your computer to a previous snapshot in the hopes that the problems will now be gone. By using System Restore to restore your computer to a previously known working state you can save considerable time or money compared to reinstalling the entire computer.Good LuckRoger

I have just upgraded from windows 7 to windows 10. everything seems to be fine till now apart from the touchpad.
The problem is that every time I press a button on the keyboard the touchpad stops working for about 4 seconds.
another things is that most buttons do that, but for example the ctrl, function, alt and windows keys don't cause this problem.

Any Idea what can cause this? and do you know any solutions please??
I tried updating the drivers for both keyboard and touchpad, but that didn't solve the problem.
It's very frustrating and I'm considering to goback to windows 7!

Many Thanks :)

I upgraded my Toshiba satellite to Windows 10 and ever since I have not been able to use the touchpad longer than 5 minutes after turning it on. I have been told to use my arrow keys and go to the control panel and then go to mouse and to Exon but my keys don't allow me to get there? I can get to the mouse setting but I can't get the the Exon Tab. I'm really confused and I use my laptop often, so I need help fast

Hi everyone. I made a mistake on a Toshiba laptop. I turned off the touchpad in Device Settings. Now the touchpad is dead & I don't have a mouse to navigate with. I need to restart the touchpad without the use of any mouse. Is there a way to navigate in Mouse Properties to Device Settings to restart the touchpad?

A:Need to restart touchpad using just keyboard.

hi well you could use the tab and arrow keys and the enter button to navigate to device manager.

I have a HP Compaq 610. The touchpad stopped working a while ago. I have recently changed the touchpad and also tried different drivers but to no avail.

The buttons seem to work but nothing else.

Help please...
