Q: My Aspire R3-471T will not power up without an ext...

It runs just super with an HDMI connected monitor. But when I remove the HDMI plug, it will not power on. Does anyone have any ideas? It is a very nice laptop and it is a shame to have to retire it. Thanks,Marc

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Go on Amazon.com and search for active stylus. I would look at the ones with the most reviews and the highest 5 star ratings percentage.Read the reviews from the people who purchased and used them.Anything else is just an opinion from one person or two.

The battery is not considered user replaceable as far as Acer is concerned, it can be done though.

The memory is onboard memory and is not able to be upgraded.

In general I do not do BIOS updates without a reason. I also wait about a month for new updates (Win 10 is annoying that way) If it is working well, don't fix it. The R5-471T I have here is on BIOS 1.03.

I was trying to install windows 7 on this laptop without success until I found the Microsoft windows 7 USB 3 creator, the installation was successfull but now the big problem, USB is not detected in the windows, it needs a driver and there is no lan, wan, bluetooth, card reader, usb3 port, all that doesn't work unless I install the USB driver. How I can install the USB driver and everything is not detected?Acer claims the block port is usb 2.0 port but no it is usb 3.0 port.If windows successully installed, where are the native usb 3 driver used during the installation?

A:Aspire R5 471T-71W2 windows 7 USB problem

as far as i know, windows 7 doesn't have a native USB3.0 support by the way on your laptop an USB 2.0 (the one not blu) is available and this, normally works under windows 7. if you still have issues, you could try to create a slipstream version with some embedded drivers, nLite will help you do it (it's free):https://www.ntlite.com/http://www.askvg.com/download-nlite-for-windows-7-windows-8-and-windows-8-1/

So recently I need to get a Sony Tie Clip Microphone to work on my Acer Aspire R3-471T laptop, however, as there is only one audio jack, I do not know how to connect the microphone so the laptop identifies it as a microphone. I do recall very slightly a notification asking me which device Apple headphones where and maybe seeing a microphone option.  I cannot seem to find anyway to get the laptop to recognize the mic as a microphone and I would prefer not a purchase an audio apparatis if it can be avoided. Is there anyway to do this? or am I just spending time pulling out hair on a fruitless task?

Hi, I have a problem with my Aspire R5-471T in which I have no internet, and when I try to set-up a connection it says "Windows did not detect any networking hardware". I tried re-installing the drivers, and even doing a full reinstall via the "Reset" option. The laptop was having some issues for finding the internet connection in the past days but then it found it, but now it doesn't work at all.Any ideas or suggestions? Might it be a real hardware issue? Because I don't know what else to do on the driver side.

After downloading the Windows 10 Anniversary Update to my R5-471T-51UN laptop, my Logitech M535 Bluetooth mouse will no longer re-connect after either a power-cycle of the mouse or a reboot of the laptop; I have to re-pair the mouse with the laptop every time I want to use it. Uninstalling and re-installing the most current available version of the Bluetooth driver has no effect. I suspect that there is a compatibility problem with the Bluetooth driver and the Anniversary Update because: - I didn't have this problem prior to the installation of the Anniversary Update- My Logitech mouse does not require its own driver- When I turn off the mouse with the Windows Bluetooth dialog open, the status goes from "Connected" to "Driver error" to "Paired" Would appreciate any additional troubleshooting advice that I might be overlooking, or (preferably) an estimate as to when a fixed Bluetooth driver will be made available.

Hi, I have noticed that my acer aspire R14 (R5-471T) (i7 version) records fake touches when brighness is set on highest. Initially I had no idea why it was happening but after a while I noticed this pattern. Hi fire-fly,

Unfortunately, I don't have an answer for your question, but it does sound like a good idea if the technology is catching up. I would like to suggest taking a look at our Idea's platform (linked up top) and submitting this there. This is a great way for you to  find other users who are looking for these features and to show us how important these features are.

I replaced the DC jack on an Acer today with a new one. When the laptop has the battery in the power LED shows a power source(unfortunately the battery is dead). When I remove the battery and plug in the charger to the new DC jack, no LED. Hitting the power button results in a flash from the power button light and power LED for an instant but no POST or boot. I tried different chargers as I have a few universals laying around so that's not it.....What's the problem?

Daughter last used laptop on battery power and ran id down completely until computer shut off. She plugged in the power cord and it would not come on when pressing the power button.  Laptop was plugged in overnight and this morning same issue - the power light just blinks five times when you press the power button. This is the same behaviour whether plugged into power or not. I've tried holding down the power button. Tried with battery removed and A/C power, but then no light comes on at all.  I've tried removing the battery and A/C power, holding the power button down for 30 seconds, then install battery and plug in A/C power, but no difference.  I tried a different A/C power adapter and no difference. Any ideas?

A friend asked me to look into why his Aspire One (P1VE6, 722-0879) doesn't power up. The transformer is putting out 19v so I assume it's okay. But with the transformer plugged into the netbook there's not a flicker of life after pressing the power button, regardless of whether the battery is installed or absent.  One possibility is that the battery is dead, and a battery must be present for the netbook to power up. Can anyone confirm if a working battery must be present for an Aspire One to power up?  Thanks.

My laptop, aspire E1-510P will not power on. A blue light will come on for a few seconds then it shuts off. What is the problem & What can I do to fix it?

A:My acer aspire E1-510 will not power on

On Acer Aspire notebooks, blue light indication has different meanings depending on whether you are using your laptop on battery or by connecting it to a power adapter. To know more, the following link can be helpful:http://acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9674/~/how-does-the-battery-indicator-light-on-my-a... In your case, it is recommended to check if there is any issue with the battery. To do this, remove the battery from your laptop and connect the laptop directly to power adapter. If the laptop works fine now, there may be some issue with the battery. To confirm this, you can try using another battery (if possible) and see if that resolves the issue. Hope this will help you.

I have a 17" Aspire V Nitro Black Edition. About a week ago, it wouldn't wake up. It was plugged in, but the power light was not on. I have tried 3 different power cords, hoping the power supply was bad, but that's not it. I have tried resetting the internal battery using the paper clip method, waiting 4-5 minutes and reconnecting power, but that hasn't worked either. I guess it's a problem with the connection between the power and motherboard, or the motherboard itself. Does anyone have any other ideas?  It's not under warranty. I've never had any problems at all with this machine. What are my options?

After intalling win 10 my Acer Aspire S7-392 sometimes will not turn off. Especially if my Acer has been on for a while. Also when I close the desktop lid and later open the lid, the computer will not start (black screen). I have to manually turn off by pressing power. Have anyone the same issue on their Acer Aspire S7-392? Please respond if you have a solution...

A:Acer Aspire s7 392 - power will not turn off

I FINALLY found the solution for the power-off/sleep problem; Go to Control PanelClick on DevicesUnder System Devices  find .....Intel Management Engine Interfaceclick on it, then right click to find propertiesunder Driver it will tell you which version you have.Mine was ver. 11 --- which is the culprit.I choose to roll driver back to 9.5.xxOnce I did that roll back.....I no longer have the shut down issue.Hope that works for you.

Hey,
So I have an Acer Aspire 5830TG-6659 that doesnt power up. When the AC adapter is plugged in, none of the lights are lit. Warranty expired so no returns. Yes the AC adapter works, tested with multimeter and with another laptop. I'm thinking either a faulty motherboard, loose connections, or a fried motherboard... I have opened it up and cleaned it and looked for any loose connections but nada.

Any suggestions?

My friend gave me his Acer aspire laptop to do a fresh install of windows on as it was running very slowly The laptop has recently been repaired by a local shop after a only showing a black screen on power on And has been working fine but slowly for weeks Diagnosis was graphics card So i insert the acer restore disk and things go normally until the laptop has to restart itself during install Restarts normaly but during the spash screen it makes an audible click and powers off instantly power leads in battery has charge too Trying to power on the laptop again just results in the same click and instant off So i give it power Aspire 5535 issue mins to cool Aspire 5535 power issue down and try again it works again No problems even restarts with no issues Then some hours later after installing updates it restarts and does it power off trick again Now im confused I give it more mins and power on again And try to run prime to see if its an overheating issue with the cpu Cpu reaches a toasty yet stable c under full load and is quite happy for mins I replace the hard drive with a working one i have spare Powering on the laptop i get to the windows splash screen the the click and instant off I am really confused as the laptop seems to run quite happily for several hours until after a restart then its pot luck I have also noted that it will also instant power off even if you enter the Aspire 5535 power issue bios and stay there during boot up Any suggestions would Aspire 5535 power issue be much appreciated nbsp

What is the condition of the battery? Will the laptop shut down with the battery removed? That audible "click" could be a failing internal fan. Open up the laptop and make sure that the fans are clean and that they move freely

Hi everyone! Just got my new laptop last week and it won't power on unless it's connected to power. I've tried resetting the battery on the back with a pin. It didn't work. I push the power button and the blue light comes on for 15 seconds then goes out and then nothing.....Plug it in.. turns on no problem. The clock has also been acting up and stopping. I have never had to adjust a clock laptop so many times. This laptop is only a week old ! Any suggestions would be appreciated.

A:Aspire R5 won't turn on unless connected to power.

Sounds like a failed power system & need to return the unit for repair or replacement. The clock going wonky at the same time is unusual since there is usually a seperate button battery for that.

I am currently helping a friend with his lap top The computer is An Acer Aspire series Model Problem Power Aspire Acer ICL I believe I have narrowed the problem down to the power system First of all while the charger is connected the charging indicator light does not come on If I press the power button while it is attached to the charger The screen will quickly flash the quot Acer quot logo then shut off once more The machine will not turn on at all without the battery attached What I want to know is if my suspicions are correct I believe the problem is the charging port Acer Aspire Power Problem Does anyone know if these particular computers are known to have this problem Is their any definitive way to test this I do not believe the problem to be the cord itself because the little green light is on and does not appear to be damaged or stressed in any way And the lap top did Acer Aspire Power Problem boot up once without a problem but shortly after logging on began to beep loudly battery low warning before shutting off nbsp

A:Aspire S7-392 Power-Off/Sleep Problem

Hi! I have the same problem. My Acer Aspire S7-392 has trouble sleeping by closing the lid. Shutting down is no problem, but whenever I close the lid, the blue indicator light remains lit, although the screen turns off. To sidestep this problem, I must sleep the computer without closing the lid. What I mean is pressing Fn+W keys, which sleeps the computer or going to the Settings Charm and then choosing sleep. However, even manually sleeping the computer doesn't work. This usually occurs when I have apps open, especially Google Chrome. When I manually sleep the computer while Google Chrome is open, the monitor turns off but the blue light never does. I notice that the computer doesn't truly sleep, as any music that was playing remains playing after the monitor turns off. After the monitor turns off, there is no way to turn it back on. I have to do a manual shut down (by holding the power button for 10 seconds), and then restart, losing everything I had before sleep. This problem existed only after the Windos 8.1 update. Nothing like this occured before. A friend of mine who bought the exact same computer at the exact same time has the exact same problem. Would really appreciate it if Acer could release a driver update sometime soon.

I would like to buy an extra travel power adapter (US plugs) for my Cloudbook.  Does anyone know the part number for the adapter? Also, I would like to use an external battery to charge the Cloudbook while travelling.  The external battery has a regular USB 2.0 that's on most external battery chargers, and I would need a cord that goes to the power of the Cloudbook.  Does anyone know of a solution? Thank you.

Hi there I have an Aspire This has been a great laptop for me but over the past few weeks the power adapter connection has been really sketchy The issue seems to be at the connection where it plugs into the computer itself The power cord seems to come disconnected somehow frequently If I unplug it from the laptop and then put the plug back in again this fixes it for a few seconds but then the power button light starts flashing and it's disconnected again nbsp I was hoping it was an issue with the adapter itself so I bought a replacement one but it isn't any better than the one that came with the power supply Aspire 5750 laptop Is this a common issue I assume it's a problem with the connection inside the laptop where you put the plug in but I'm off warranty and have no idea what to do to fix it Do I need a new laptop While I'm fairly decent with most software programs hardware for me is a totally different Aspire 5750 power supply ballgame Any help would be appreciated nbsp Thanks

The power socket is soldered to the power board  and repeated pulling and pushing it can sometimes pull loose or crack a solder connection. You will need to disassemble the laptop to resolder/replace the power board. New board http://www.cdsparts.com/p-3374-new-acer-aspire-5350-5750-5750g-5750z-series-power-board-cable.aspx?C... Disassemble https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=maoRU9NhyJo

I used an Aspire 93500 laptop with Windows XP.When XP retired, also the screen started deterioratingand I gave it retirement using Xubuntu Linux. The screen slowly gave up, and I connected a spare monitor. Enough to play with, but not mobile...Now I was given an almost identical Aspire 9500, that was equipped with Windows 7. Slow as hell, of course. Now I want to give it Xubuntu as well, but I cannot get the machine to boot from the DVD. It also does not show the Acer logo and the Start-up options (F2 or F12 while booting) like my first one does.Just trying F2 or F12 stops the booting with a beep of about 5 seconds What can be done?

Hi everyone! Just got my new laptop last week and it won't power on unless it's connected to power. I've tried resetting the battery on the back with a pin. It didn't work. I push the power button and the blue light comes on for 15 seconds then goes out and then nothing.....Plug it in.. turns on no problem. The clock has also been acting up and stopping. I have never had to adjust a clock laptop so many times. This laptop is only a week old ! Any suggestions would be appreciated.

if you are out of warranty, you can try to open it and look about that "noise" inside your laptop.if you are still under warranty, give Acer support service a call. you did a lot of troubleshoot so i don't have more to add.

I have a Acer Aspire AX3400G slimline case and am experiencing a problem when powering up. When pressing the power button the computer begins to power up then stops. The fan is running but nothing else. If I unplug then replug the computer it will start normally. This started intermittently but now is doing it every time I turn it on. I believe I need a new power supply? The power supply is a Liteon PS 5221-9 230 max watt. Does this sound like a power supply issue? And if so could someone direct me to a good replacement PSU? I only use the computer for Email, Facebook etc. and don't require any serious power usage.

MyMy Z5761 will not boot up as described in my earlier post. I have told that there are two voltage levels. The lower one powers the lights, the bigher one powers the computer. Is this correct, and if so could the loss of the higher one be the reason why it is not booting up and what can be done to remedy the situation?

I bought this laptop in September 2007, then all of a sudden it started giving trouble to power up.

The battery and the charger work perfectly in another Aspire 5100.

I have to really fiddle around with the adapter for the laptop to get AC power, and it wouldn't start up unless the charger is plug in.

Once i get AC power i could power on he laptop fine, remove the adapter from the laptop and it will operate off battery power fine, but it would not start up on battery power, even if the battery is fully charged.

Any help will be appreciated.

thanks.

I bought my acer aspire one back in March of 2009. A couple days ago, the adapter started to go out on me, and when i move the cord a certain way, it disconnects and goes to battery. If i move it again, it works again.

Considering that i unplug and replug in the laptop at least once every day, is this the average life of the cord or is there something wrong with the cord itself?

Clearly something wrong with the battery on my Acer Aspire 7740 laptop. Preloaded with Windows 7, 64-bit o.s. [would love to get rid of that]. Battery, which is always fully powered, allows only 1 1/2 to 2 hrs use off power. Transformer is functioning, connection to laptop is good. I have a lousy battery, right? This product is under warranty, was purchased about 4 months ago.
Lots of problems. Have attempted to work with Acer support, but the communication is not only difficult, but virtually useless. Most of the time they can't understand the problem.

Hi,
I'm going to be very quick and blunt. Mainly because I'm annoyed.
There was a power outage last night.
My laptop had been plugged in, but plugged into a almost industrial surge protector.
A while later I remembered to check on my laptop.
It had frozen solid, and would not shut down, even by holding down the power button.
For some reason, the laptop did not go into autohibernation upon low battery.
Now, when I tried to turn the laptop on, the computer clicks in, as it usually does.
However, the screen appears to be off completely even after I power on the computer.

Can anyone help?

When I pressed the button to boot my pc nothing happened, I checked the power supply and all ok even tried an alternative power supply still no better.

However when you plug in the power supply one of the lan socket leds comes on, even though there is nothing connected to the pc apart from the power plug.

Is this a common fault with this pc, would it be some sort of short on the motherboard?

Thanks

Dave

A:Solved: Acer Aspire L5100 no power

Common? No, but hardware fails all the time. Typical cause would be the power supply or motherboard.

I have owned my Aspire R5-471T laptop for about 4 days.   It appears to work just great except for 1 quirk.  It intermittently disconnects itself from my home network (other computer devices in the house do not do this).  It takes an adapter reset (through selecting troubleshooting) to reconnect.   any ideas?

If you still have problems...... Make sure you have the latest firmware on the ASUS router.  Go to ASUS website and search for firmware for your router model.  After you flash latest firmware...reset ASUS to factory defaults by pressing and holding the reset button for more than 5 seconds.  And then reconfigure it manually from scratch.  Don't try to restore previous settings.  It's best to use as many of the default router settings as possible unless you really know what you're doing. Delete (forget) the old wireless profiles on your computers.  And then restart your computers.  And then reconnect. And if you're still having problems after that........ 1.  Disable IPv6 on the ASUS router2.  Unplug the ASUS, your modem, and any access points from the electrical outlet.3.  Power down all of your computers.4.  Plug in ASUS. modem, and access points.5. Turn on computers.6.  After everything is working ok for 48 hours, enable IPv6 on the ASUS. I had something similar happen on a different computer model, and it was due to me tinkering with IPv6.

My R13 (R7-371T) DC Power Jack is loose and continues to flip-flop between charging and on battery, despite being plugged in.  This is the second time I have had this problem! The first time it was under warranty, so I sent it in to Acer who replaced it.  Warranty period is now over, but I have the problem again. I do use the laptop quite a bit, probably 10 hours per day, and in two different locations (home and office), so it gets plugged in and unplugged probably four times a day, every day.  But this in itself should not be a reason that it has this problem... Any suggestions on what to do here?
