I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)
Hi, as the title suggests I've got a bit of a sound problem:
I wish to record some of my digital sound (e.g. my friends in Skype) using Audacity and stereo mix. However, using the built-in stereo mix record feature Audacity has, no sound is being recorded. So I checked out the stereo mix device under 'recording devices' in 'Sound' and found that it was not detecting any sound at all.
I'm not totally sure as to how all it's settings must be, but it's like this now:
Listen to: enabled
Playback through: Speakers (Realtek HD Audio)
The device is set to be 'used' ofcourse.
Any help would be greatly appreciated...
Go to Edit -> Preferences and to the 'Audio I/O' or 'Devices' tab, and make sure the the audio INPUT is set to the source you want to hear from, in this case, the pc sound card or such, apparently Windows 7 does not change the input device when you select the Stereo Mix function for some reason.
If that's not the case, maybe your sound driver isn't allowing the stereo mix to work, you can try the Control Panel configuring method, which you can find at the audacity website (i can't set up links yet, but go to wiki.audacityteam.org/ and add this: index.php?title=Mixer_Toolbar_Issues#Using_the_Control_Panel) [sorry for this, but it's for a good reason, i'm not a bot/spam ]
kind of a pain to read through and configure everything, but will fix the issue.
If you don't want any trouble at all, you can just plug you speaker in the PC's 'Line In' plug (the blue one), and set Audacity's Input device to "Line in" or such.
According to MSI and Biostar representatives on the Computex 2015 show floor, speaking to PC Gamer, motherboards that feature Intel's new Z170 chipset will become available this August.
It better come with Thunderbolt 3 included, if they want to attract PC enthusiasts.
On a related subject, this new Thunderbolt 3 isn't as good as we hoped...
Thunderbolt 3 also includes an update to the DisplayPort side of matters, though likely not what everyone has been expecting. With the increase in bandwidth, Thunderbolt 3 is able to carry twice as much video data as before. However Intel is not implementing the latest version of DisplayPort ? DisplayPort 1.3 ? in to the Thunderbolt 3 standard. Instead they are doubling up on DisplayPort 1.2, expanding the number of equivalent DisplayPort lanes carried from 4 to 8, essentially allowing one Thunderbolt 3 cable to carry 2 full DisplayPort 1.2 connections. The end result is that Thunderbolt 3 will not be able to drive the kind of next-generation displays DisplayPort 1.3 is geared towards ? things like 8K displays and 5K single-tile displays ? but it will be able to drive anything 1 or 2 DisplayPort 1.2 connections can drive today, including multiple [email protected] monitors or 5K multi-tile displays.Click to expand...
So, basically, they had all the opportunity to have DisplayPort 1.3 included, but decided not to. That is just wrong... It won't even support a single-tile 5K screen. And if so, then what good is it, really?
A barrage of leaks over the past few months left little to the imagination once it came time for AMD to officially unveil its Radeon 300 series graphics cards. Regardless, AMD filled us in on all of the pertinent details...
Hmm so the rebranded cards didn't get an GCN update to 1.2 which blows
The increase in clock speeds and Vram isn't enough alone.
AMD's upcoming Radeon 300 series graphics cards may end up being rebadged 200 series cards with minor tweaks but it's not all bad news for gamers. WCCFtech has it on good authority (they're confident enough to drop the "rumor" tag...
Rebrands or no, that extra memory will put some pressure on NVIDIA's lower end cards.
Basically I think it s Laptop Samsung Ultrabook Series 5 Problems; been happening for a month now My laptop screen glitches - the images distorting and sometimes green text appearing - Laptop Problems; Samsung Ultrabook Series 5 before Laptop Problems; Samsung Ultrabook Series 5 righting itself and crashing The only way I can get the Laptop Problems; Samsung Ultrabook Series 5 laptop to function again is to turn it off via the power button or take the battery out and put it back it again It has also become slow starting up - taking at least five minutes before you can log in and then a further five before you can actually do anything The cursor sometimes gets stuck in the center of the screen - I can access things using the tab screen but the cursor won t move whether I use the laptop touchpad or my USB mouse The fan has also been sporadically speeding up before calming down again - even though I ve been doing the same thing for the past god knows when I ve done a boot-up scan using avast had a look through all of my files and gotten rid of any old files that I don t need on there in an attempt to create some space but I ve got about - gb free so I can t see why that should be a problem Nothing happens before the glitches crashes so I don t think I m causing it by moving it and so on About a month ago the charger port was fixed at a laptop repair shop and then the laptop itself was sent off to SAMSUNG to have the motherboard replaced because I mistakenly wiped the bios since one driver update shut the laptop off in the middle of the bios update so I don t know if something is loose and so on I m planning on selling it in a month or two so it s not that much of a problem but of course I don t want to sell it to someone if its being a pain in the backside I also switched from integrated graphics to a nvidia geforce graphics card that is in the laptop when I bought it so that might be why Basic Info Samsung Ultrabook Series Intel Core i GB Ram TB Hardrive bit Operating System NVIDIA Geforce GT M nbsp
This sort of problem is tough to troubleshoot over the internet. It could be quite a few things that could cause the symptoms that you're experiencing. With that said, I'd probably start with updating the discrete GPU drivers. Since you did switch from integrated to discrete, this could be the main cause for the graphic glitches which is probably crashing the system.
Moving forward, I think you should download something like CPU-Z to monitor the CPU load and temperatures during the crashes. It could be that your CPU is overheating and could use some attention.
AMD has quietly launched a new range of graphics cards designed for OEMs and system builders that fall under Radeon 300 series branding. Like with the HD 8000 series a couple of years ago, these cards are essentially all rebrands...
I really like AMD but they've been disappointing lately
I don't really know a lot about upgrading my computer. Any help would be great. Thanks.
I forgot to mention I am trying to make it run games like CS:GO and DayZ at a reasonable level.
Hidden in the latest AMD Catalyst 15.3 beta drivers, released alongside FreeSync last week, are a few pieces of information that hint at what might be in store for the upcoming Radeon Rx 300 series. Specifically, we might be in...
It saves money on R&D and manufacturing as you don't have to research anything new or get in/ change any equipment which is good for the business as it's saving costs, but it is poor for technology and comes across as incredibly lazy. It's 2015 and they're still releasing cards produced in 2012, at least Nvidia cards offer some improvements, even if they are a rebrand.
I've been playing World of Tanks on High graphics, but even just in the garage looking at my vehicles the internal temperature rises to a peak (so far) of 58C with my fan on 100%.
Is this too much for my computer?
No - especially not for an AMD card.
I'm sure im not the only one wondering... when are the 28-40 lane pci boards coming out that intel promissed us?
I have 40 GPU's that I need to stick in a board for extreme gaming....
Not sure if joke or legit question.
Nvidia's G-Sync technology is currently available on a handful of displays but the cost of entry isn't cheap. That's because the current crop of monitors require custom hardware to work their gaming magic - a requirement that soon won't be...
LOL the G-Sync module was only ever used to verify 100% that someone was using a Nvidia GPU. What a bunch of crooks...
My I-trigue speakers gave up the ghost the other day, so I bought a 2nd hand set of Creative A250 2.1 speakers from ebay for ten quid. These arrived this morning. I unboxed them to discover they were brand new: all the original packing, sticky labels, and box itself untouched. Impressed, I wired them up, plugged them in.... result was appalling. Deep hum as soon as I switched the speakers on by their rotating on/off/vol switch located on the right hand speaker. I have ensured all are correctly connected; checked the volume levels; ensured there is plenty of space between speakers etc to no avail. This kicks off immediately the speakers are switched on at the lowest possible volume.
Any suggestions gratefully received. I am running an Alienware X51.
If you have a microphone connected, disconnect it or disable it and see what happens. If that isn't the problem, return the speakers.
I need to figure out how to get my webcam and camera working and what drivers I need anyone gt that answer pls
Go here - http://us.gateway.com/gw/en/US/content/drivers-downloads
Then put "NE71B" in the product model box. You may also need to change the OS version to 64-bit, before a listing will show.
The camera software is listed under the application tab.
I didn't see a driver listing for the camera, so Windows may have generic drivers installed.
If reinstalling software doesn't work, I'm not sure what else to say.
Good luck with your repairs.

Hope someone can offer some insight. I see where many, if not all the brands, Asus, MSI, etc. have guys asking for vBIOS updates in various forums to solve problems with display. What is the general incompatibility issue? Any light that can be shed is appreciated

It depends on what you are referring to, there is not real issues with the R series GPU's in terms of display output. Most of the associated problems people are having involve a few things:
Some of the 4k monitors (The AOC for instance) use a very odd way to refresh which caused the display to flicker on the R9 series GPU's which was resolved in a recent patch.
Some high refresh displays using DP
and some others
However I would not worry, most of the problems if any are fixed via patches and catalyst revisions. If the manufacturer has to update something like the this its normally involves something like with their own software or certain things in environments not working together properly. I would not worry, I have done nothing to my PowerColor R9 290X trio and they all work great.
Just recently, my laptop suddenly became mute. This occurred while I was watching a video. My laptop put itself to hibernation or something, because it was running out of battery life. After I recontinued my session, I had no sound at all. I've tried several attempts to fix this, but to no avail. When I plug in my earphones and try to hear from them, they work perfectly fine, but when I unplug them, everything becomes mute.
If anyone can, please help.
I have a Toshiba Satellite A505-S6005 with Windows 7 64-bit.
Attached to this post is a summary generated by CPUID PC-Wizard.
With your headphones unplugged, does your volume meter in the tray icon area (bottom right) indicate volume at a reasonable level? Sounds like the drivers are working OK, might be something simple hopefully.
so I was watching a video but then decided to take a break and put my old Dell laptop on hibernate for about a few minutes. when I came back I logged back in played the video back but then there was no sound.
I checked if if I was just on mute. nope. on the audio tray I can see considerable activity on the volume gauge in sync to my video playing.
I tried to connect a headset. still nothing.
I tried connecting to my TV using a HDMI cable.... audio came out of my TV just fine
So I stll was perplexed why I had no audio on my laptop even through the headphone jack
I tried a system restore. still nothing
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the device.. nothing
restarted multiple times through all of the process...
anyone got any idea whats going on here ?
Have you tried shutting it down normally, let it sit a bit & restart it?
I wouldn't of done the system resore, but....
So my Packard Bell Easy Note MX37-S-200 has suddenly started making persistent " Crackling " and " Popping" noises from the moment I boot it. The noise is coming from the speakers and the sound is now distorted. I have very recently got it back from the repair shop after having my AC jack replaced... I would really like to rule everything out before I start pointing fingers at the repair guy
Things I have tried - Disabling sound driver - Noise was still there and laptop just installed it again.
Running avast scan through it - Scan picked up nothing.
Played with the sound setting - Nothing changed noise still there.
Plugged in PC speakers - Noise still coming from laptop but sound came out of the speakers fine.
I have noticed also that when the laptop first starts up the noise is louder and more spaced out. I'm wondering maybe whether it is the fan? But I don't no why the noise would be coming from the speakers.
Would really appreciate any help
My guess is that based on the information provided that the wires for the speakers have either been damaged or crossed in some way where they are touching something they shouldn't causing distortion. My advice would be to take it back and tell them whats going on and make sure to have them fix it for free if they opened it and caused this problem.
I have an HP Probook with Athlon II dual core. It starts to overheat as soon as it comes out of sleep mode. It will get up to 200*F with the fan running and the whole case gets hot. If I shut it down and restart, the temp will stay normal, 120*, for as long as it stays awake. But if I let it go to sleep and wake it up, the overheating starts. It gets hotter everyday. Was only going up to 180* yesterday. Any ideas? Thanks
Check Task Manager processes on what is chewing your CPU.
I feel like there is some truth to this since nVidia doesnt really need a major refresh like AMD does.
Guys,I m planning to buy a new cpu.Just come to know that very soon this series will release.I have budget about 255$ for gpu.can u tell me when will it release?so I can afford more powerful gpu with this money.
Well, I wouldn't expect to see any HD 8XXX series card this year. However, I'm not so sure about Nvidia.
Okay so here s the history The other night I came home to a high pitch noise coming from my turtle beach headphones Upon removing the headphones from my computer I the sound started coming from my speakers I then shut off my computer I removed everything except the power cord I could hear a different yet similar whine Upon opening my computer I heard the noise coming from within I then took out the video card and started the beast back up Same thing After hours of browsing forums on my phone I decided it was either my CPU or PSU I then removed the PSU and jump started it to check whether or not it was making the sound Whining coming speakers from and headphones noise It ran fine and made no noise However upon connecting it to the motherboard and starting it I then heard the noise again When I listened closely to the CPU I heard nothing then I listened to the PSU which was outside of my case this time and I could hear not only the high pitched whine but also a slight crackling noise It was then that I jumped on newegg and ordered a new PSU http www newegg com Product Prod After long unbearable night and into the morning the PSU was here and I spent hours carefully setting it up and organizing the cords in and around my computer NOW THE GOOD STUFF Upon turning on my computer everything seemed fine I quickly jumped on youtube and started a video no sound coming from my headphones I then pulled out my headphones from the jack No sound coming from my speakers It was then I realized I could hear the ever so dim whine coming from my speakers As far as I can tell there is no noise coming from my new PSU I can hear the sound JUST fine when I plug in my samson go mic and plug my headphones into THAT microphone yeah I know it sounds weird but think of it as a little mini external sound card or something When I play youtube videos with my speakers plugged in I have Whining sound coming from speakers and headphones to crank the volume up on both the speakers and the computer and even then it s super quiet When I play videos with my headphones plugged in in the front of the computer it makes no noise until the volume is around but the sound is just a crackly distorted version of whatever I have playing I have never had an issue with my computer so far so I m honestly not too sure what s going on The sound seems to start when Windows starts loading I have run a CPU stress test and the sound remains the same throughout I have also tried switching which outlet I am using for my computer Here are my computer specs Intel i - k CPU GHz GB DDR RAM -bit Windows Ultimate Fatal ty Z Professional Gen http www asrock com mb overview asp Model Fatal ty Z Professional Gen Updated BIOS NVIDIA GeForce GTX GB OCZ Vector SSD with OS installed on it TB WD Drive TB External WD Drive COOLER MASTER HAF X http www newegg com Product Product aspx Item N E - Not that it really matters Here s my -bit DxDiag http pastebin com sF B rrJ So yeah aside from knowing my motherboard is failing what can you tell me to convince me otherwise lol I refuse to believe that it could be my motherboard because well its been a good board thus far and I haven t seen anything like this when searching google so I feel like it can t be so isolated The only thing I can think of is I just bought a Doctor Who levitating tardis which uses a magnet to make the TARDIS well levitate The magnet is inside the tardis itself and isn t really powerful at all The stand does something that keeps the magnet from reaching the top somehow Nevertheless this thing was on the top of my computer for a week before my computer started making these noises I don t think it s related to the issue as it wasn t exactly all that close to any of the parts nor do I believe it to be any stronger than magnets you might find in a speaker that sits near your computer If anything it s a lot weaker than that So I m guessing its not that but I figured I d at least add that in nbsp
Does it sound 100% like whining or maybe an interference type sound?

Buy some headphones and plug em in?
I just replaced the Motherboard today for a customer, it worked just great! I went into the bios and recalibrated the battery. Problem is that I think it burnt out the laptop because the laptop will not power on at all, just like before I replaced it.
What I ment was that I think calibration caused the burn-out of the board
Laptop motherboards can fail quickly. Was this a new or used board. I really doubt that a battery calibration would damage the motherboard. Have you tried starting the laptop with the battery out?
Just installed an Intel 330 120GB SSD on my computer running Windows 8. This is an older system with a Penryn1600SLI-110dB (Asrok) mobo, Q6600 cpu.
I see the drive in the BIOS. I see the drive under Hard Drives in the Device Manager.
I do not see the drive under File Manager. I do not see the drive under Disk Management.
When I try to use the Intel Solid State Toolbox, it says
"The Intel SSD Toolbox cannot communicate with the selected Intel SSD.
Consider changing to another storage driver compatible with your system and try the tool again."
I'm a noob so I guess my questions are what driver should I use and where would I find it?
You are going to have to configure the SSD to be able for Windows to see it. Do you have the Intel Rapid Storage utility installed?
At random times, the CTRL key on my laptop will act as if it is constantly pushed down. I am unable to type and it is annoying. I have turned off sticky keys, and have tried pushing both the left and right CTRL keys simultaneously to turn it off. The only solution is a reboot of the computer. Is there anyway I can fix this??
It may be time to replace the keyboard. They're not expensive and relatively easy to replace
When is DDR4 likely to float up into the market? I'm needing to build a PC with the fastest working memory possible while still remaining 100% stable while running 24/7/365.
If it's going to be over 3 months, what would be my best option for the absolute fastest RAM on the market by that time? I plan to air cool, but will throw a big fan on top of the RAM modules for added stability.
It's a bit early to tell whether a DDR4 will hit this year. But of course, there're plenty of powerful RAM to choose from. I prefer both Corsair or G.Skill, because they have gaming potential. And some of the features are probably good overclocking, and longevity.
As far as I'm concerned, Samsung has manufactured a DDR4 module already, maybe last year.
Building a new pc Its been since since I did a brand new overhaul Things to consider -I have a tj and a mountainmods ascension case capable of holding quad rads on front lower panel -Yes I will liquid cool the monster -I have an Areca raid controller capable of running time! You don't need anywhere near $4-5k to play MMOs even on a 2560x1600 screen. The most demanding games are FPSs and some RPGs. If you're doing a lot of CPU intensive work then go with an X79/3930K build but otherwise a 3570K will be fine, and you'll have a lot of your budget left over.
Hey guys, so I've been getting a few questions lately regarding the intel vPro processors.
Now I've heard about these before, but only scantily, so what I've gained in terms of knowledge is that I believe they are used for business computers or something of the sort (?)
anyway was just wondering if somebody with some actual knowledge of these curious CPU's could help me out with a few general pointers.
1. What are the vPro series used for primarily? Gaming? Servers? Number-Crunching?
2. Could you give me a rundown of how they stack up against some other popular CPUs?
I look forward to seeing any potential answers, after all I'm keen to learn
This should answer your questions:
I am looking for a RAM card for an old HP 6600 series computer running Windows 95. Does anyone have any suggestions on a card.
Wow, I haven't seen an old HP Pavilion 6000 series computer in a good long time! Your going to be a little hard pressed when going to your local computer store and trying to buy a stick of RAM for this thing. Man, a 6600 running Windows 95, I haven't seen a computer run Windows 95 in eons. Well I'll try my best to snap out of my little "shock and ahhhh" thing and get back to talking about the RAM.
Again, going to your local computer store might be pointless, most likely they aren't going to have anything for you. But by happens chance I took the liberty in doing a bit of searching on-line for a supplier that still provides RAM for the old HP Pavilion 6000 series. Give the following place a look...
Arch Memory Store
Now seeing what I saw on that web site made me shake my head and think to myself that upgrading this old dinosaur of yours might not be worth it. This web site only provides 3 different memory sizes for your computer. (1) 32MB's, (2) 64MB's and last (3) 128MB's of memory! I'd hate to hear what your system currently has as far as the amount of memory it has. With a bare minimum of 64MB's of RAM your system will run really bare bones and "no thrills" with something like Windows 2000 Professional! Your going to have to pump it up a notch and maybe try for 128MB's of RAM, if you want to install and run things, again at pretty much "no thrills" with something like Windows XP. But with Operating Systems like Windows Vista, Windows 7 and the up and coming Windows 8, I don't care how much RAM you try to squeeze into that old computer, it isn't going to be close to enough.
Again, if I'm on the mark here and truly found your computer and this is the one, I would again think twice about upgrading it! Plus with it running Windows 95, finding product support for that via the web is going to be impossible, Microsoft stopped providing support for that product 17 years ago.
I'll shut up now, just due to bafflement alone, I can't stop rambling about this!

I just got a new CPU, it's an AMD FX 4-core unit. I tried upgrading my motherboard's BIOS (my MB is a GA 880GM-USB3) to the two most recent BIOS, and it just makes my computer not even boot up with the new CPU in it. Even when I try putting in my old CPU, it won't boot up sometimes, so I have to keep swapping out processors until it boots up. Please help!
Dont have a Fx series myself, but as far as I know they should work fine in an am3 motherboard. being backwards compatable (am3 +)
Clear your cmos after installing the new cpu, Reset your bios to optimal/auto, And double check your motherboard supports your cpu.
If that wont work I would RMA it if possible.
Hope this helps
so I was making a video coming from sound or CPU GPU? It's not fan? the Buzzing/sizzling in sony vegas pro a few minutes ago and noticed a buzzing sizzling noise coming from my computer so I opened up the side panel to take a look I think it s either my GPU or my CPU but the weird thing is it s not the fans because I stopped them with my finger and the buzzing continued also another MAJORLY weird thing is that the buzzing only occurs when the video is playing when it s paused- nothing Ive also noticed this happening during gaming could you guys please inform me of what you think is happening because I m at a loss and yes I m sure the buzzing is coming from my GPU CPU or Motherboard and not my speakers please help me I dont like Buzzing/sizzling sound coming from CPU or GPU? Determine exactly where the noise is coming from. Its more likely to be your power supply than your gpu, and least likely to be your cpu.
Hi I posted a thread in quot viruses malwar quot After running a some all coming at slow, not running freezing, Computer up games check on the computer they saw nothing malicious suggested it is a hardware problem and suggested I post something here When I restarted my computer the other day Windows loaded normally boot time was seconds However when I clicked on the icon for Google Chrome nothing happened I tried others and the same thing I was sitting there thinking I may have picked up a virus and Google Chrome opened I discovered that it just took awhile for the programs to open so I updated and ran SE and MWB then did a disc cleanup The computer was fine The next evening I turned the computer on and the same thing happened So I repeated the process Since then the programs are sluggish to open and some of the games I play won t open at all I have Windows and have only had the computer since Sept Oct of I am not great with computers but have cleaned a computer in the past through TechSpot so I can follow instructions Any ideas nbsp
well the first step is making sure you dont have a ton of programs running in the system tray (next to the clock.).
If you could click the windows button, right click computer, click properties, and tell us what is written down in system, it would give us a better idea of the caliber of PC we are talking about here.
I just reformatted and reinstalled windows, totally updated all my drivers and everything is like it was before -- no change in hardware configuration either, but now I notice a buzzing/scratchy noise coming from my speakers all of the time.
Under inspection of the volume board, I see that under Realtek Audio output, the entry "Front" is the one controlling this sound, when I lower the volume the sound goes away. However, all other sound is lowered too.
I don't know what this problem could be since I never have experienced it before and I did not do any hardware changes that could have resulted in any kind of wiring issues.
Try getting the latest driver from the manufacturer of the sound card, or if its onboard sound, from the motherboard makers website.
Following instructions I opened and cleaned the interior electronics after it developed overheating problems that would result in it powering down. Following reassembly the computer will eventually restart but only after failing bootup at leastg two times. At initial startup or boot from hibernation the computer does not appear to reach boot source but emits a series of beeps, first 1 beep, then 3 beeps, another three beeps, and finally 1 beep. These are all about 1 second long and seperated by 1 second. Pressing and holding the start button again sometimes resuls in a full repeat of the above or the computer emits the series of 1single beats, 4 beats, one second long and one second seperation. Eventually pressing and holding he power button will evenually result in hearing the computer attempt to boot from the CD ROM (which is second on the list after the Internal HDD). Any help would be appreciated.
There is a very good explanation of "Beep Codes" here:-
Hope it helps.

As you have already found ou, there will always be another "best" or another want... Get it now... Build it now, then use what you learn to design a better one, and sell this build to a friend. Don't wait... or you will wait for a new SSD... or a new Windows 8, or a new Super Duper...
What are your thoughts on this new case from CM i like it but am not sure weather i should get it or not.
no thoughts on this case?
I recently bought a creative 5.1 sound system for my pc, but every now and then (usually when a new screen opens) the sub woofer makes a noise.
Ive tried several things and I think ive narrowed it down to windows sound effect or sound card. The sound effect is when there is a screen change which is being detected and played by the bass woofer. I'm not sure where I would find this in the control panel I have looked and cant see where to disable.
Regarding the sound card, if your monitor has built in speakers and your sound card is getting confused between the different systems.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
I think you can find all the Windows sounds under Control Panel->Sound->Sounds tab. You can select a system sound and then hit the Play button (it's the right arrow button) to play and hear it through your speakers. Don't know why you're having the problem but is one way to check system sound playback
I would just like to know your opinions on waiting for the Radeon HD 7000 series. It is more discussion like then a personal question.
I would like to know if you will wait for the HD 7000 series, and why.
No, the 6870 should do me if I decide to upgrade my 4870.
I have a Hp Pavilion with a 4.2 score, AMD Turion II P560 Dual-Core 2.50GHz, 4gb ram 300 gb storage, and a AMD M880G with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250. I can play games like minecraft well on High performance and HD, 3D graphics but I want to play more games like Battlefield and Black Ops, MW2 MW3 -Beta. I use Game booster but it only seems to end my processes, how can i run my laptop to be faster for gaming without lag?
go into battery settings and change to high performance, also most the time with laptops specs dont handle like there advertised due to battery and "saving space" issues. On top of that just try doing the normal, clear off empty hdd space, and use a good defrag program like auslogics and optimize to read the data faster. Trust me gaming is hard enough with just BF2 on my dinosaur of a laptop stuck to windowed resolutions of 800x600
Hello TechSpotians I have been thinking about gettin myself an upgrade for my PC You may have seen many of my threads and may have called me quick at changing my mind 6950 Radeon the 7xxx the series or for 2GB? get HD HD Wait Radeon looks at Leeky As the title states I would like to get myself a hd GB I have read something up on the future hd xxx series and articles Wait for the Radeon HD 7xxx series or get the HD Radeon 6950 2GB? said that they would have more processing power and etc I have heard that AMD might be releasing some of the hd xxx series Q and start mass manufacturing in Q But as AMD starts the production of the office cards first Wait for the Radeon HD 7xxx series or get the HD Radeon 6950 2GB? and then up to the high end cards it might take a while So my question is will it be worth the time to wait for the hd xxx series or just get Wait for the Radeon HD 7xxx series or get the HD Radeon 6950 2GB? the hd Thanks EDIT I don t think it is known if the xxx series will support CrossFire with the xxx series but I heard that you can CF a xxx series with a xxx series Is that true nbsp
i would get the 6950, thats a very powerful crd as of now with great driver support, even though the 7xxx series is coming out it usually takes like 2 -3 months for decent driver support and longer sometimes with crossfire support in games. as for the crossfire question, u can crossfire cards from the same generation so 5xxx series only crossfires with 5xxxseries and the same for 6xxx, my friend has a 4870x2 and was starting to lag a bit in BC2 so i got him a 4890 and we put those in crossfire, works much better. But yeah i would get the 6950 now and like u said the nice 7xxx series prob won;t be out til after CES in early 2012
I am thinking about upgrading my current system. I will possibly get the GPU in a about a month or so, and I will buy the CPU and the motherboard and the Cooler possibly during Christmas. Are the FX series gonna be out by Christmas or should I go with the Phenom II x6 1100T BE?
I will be using the:
Noctua NH-U9B SE2 CPU cooler
The FX cpus should be out around september i would think so i would wait if i were you.
I installed SpeedFan yesterday, and shortly after I started hearing this barely audible sort of "screeee.. screee" coming from the fan area. I can hear the fan is working fine, and SF says my temps are normal (around 48c to 50c when idle, maxing at just over 60c when streaming video or playing a game) so my fan doesn't seem to be dying. But I don't know anything about computers, so I don't know.
I talked to an ACER guy (my laptop is an Aspire 5252) and he said use an air duster to clear out dust. I did, and I think I did it right, but the little whine is still there.
Do I need to send my laptop in for repairs?
I have noticed noises like that in a lot of computer components and laptops. For example, my video card makes an audible noise like the one you described that is not the fan during the loading screens of certain games. From what I have read, this is not a problem, and is just a byproduct of current flowing through certain components.
AMD have released their new-ish graphics part numbers for systems that pair Llano APU?s with desktop discrete cards.
The standout seems to be HD 6530D or 6550D (APU) + HD 6670 (discrete) = HD 6990D2, which seems to either a huuuuuuge step up in hybrid crossfire, or a guaranteed source of confusion (at the very least).
An already mind-boggling and congested graphics market is about to hit eleven on the one-to-ten scale.

Hi So I m helping my friend build his PC and we ve got everything assembled correctly at least we think we do Only thing that is missing is a dvd-drive which will arrive this week but we figured that it wouldn t be needed to only boot the system into BIOS When we pressed the power button for the first time the system did not boot and the motherboard Asrock p pro gave us a handy quot Dr Debug quot message We had no clue what it meant so we googled it We found a huge thread somewhere with someone saying that if you left only one stick of RAM in in the farthest most slot from the CPU it would boot just fine Only it didn t and instead gave us the debug code and still without visual input We only got error if we put in one or both sticks in the WHITE slots and the white slots only beeps, fans of visual, long no series Continuous triple spinning If we put any ram in any blue slot Continuous series of triple long beeps, no visual, fans spinning We just got the error again We tried removing the ram but that just gave us the missing ram POST triple beep code In short Dual-channeled RAM in the blue slots Dr Debug code Single stick of RAM in any blue slot Same story Single or both sticks in any or both white slots Dr Debug code No RAM Regular no RAM triple error beeps We have no idea what to do next and would appreciate some help Marty nbsp
How certain are you that the RAM is compatible with the motherboard? What brand and model RAM are you using?
I have tried everything to get my Laptop ( win vista ) to communicate with my Lexmark printer. All my network connection and sharing seem to be in order. The only 'unconnected' thing I see is my Local Area Connection is unplugged. But, I am running on a wireless connection and my router along with my key in is perfectly fine...I think. The error message reads; Unable to connect with printer/computer...and tells me to check my ports, wires, and firewall. Check, check and check! I really wish I was more savvy when it comes to these sorts of things. I would truly appreciate any help I can get. I am trying to print my resume for 3 upcoming interviews.
hmm; story goes like this;
If the printer is directly attached to another system, then Print/File Sharing will control access to the printer.
If the printer is directly attached to the router, then the device is a 'network device' and it is an issue with networking.
Your WiFi connectin to that router SHOULD be sufficient for access to all network devices (assuming all systems have the same subnet) and any Print/File Shares(assuming all systems are on the same WorkGroup Name...).
Okay so I'm not technologically savvy but I'm guessing to make most of the games that I download to actually run, I need a better graphics card?
Whenever I play games with decent to good graphics, my system just won't function right. They lag until my computer freezes and stuff. So I just wanna know what I can do to actually play games.

I recently got my net back on. I did all suggested driver updates. After installing a game and turning off the comp, when I went to turn it on all I got was a high pitched noise from inside the comp along with no use of my monitor mouse or keyboard. I took the video cards out cleaned them and put them back in, Comp ran fine till I put the game back on the comp. I am now in the same position of high pitched noise along with no keyboard, mouse or monitor.
I have a
Dell 630i quad core
GeForce 8800GT x 2
OS- Windows XP
I have removed each of the video cards and tried running the comp, but still not working same high pitched noise.
Please help!! I want my comp back in working order

Personally, I would call Dell on this one. Who knows, maybe you're still under warranty and you'll get a free motherboard replacement.
Hi everyone Let me start by explaining the problem that s occuring here everytime a graphical processing application a heavy one like games starts running it starts making this annoying buzzing humming sounds that won t stop until you stop the app Now i m pretty sure it s the gfx card causing this noise cause when I start my driver and test the from (what card graphics Buzzing believe) sound I coming D settings the noise occurs till I stop the D settings Now this might be the cause of some interference between my mobo with onboard soundcard psu wireless card but to be Buzzing sound coming from (what I believe) graphics card honest i have no frickin clue of what really could be the problem Another weird thing is that if I wear headphones i Buzzing sound coming from (what I believe) graphics card can actually hear the noise through my headphones and it coming out of my pc at the same time Even when using a VoIP program other people can hear this noise Buzzing sound coming from (what I believe) graphics card and even louder than myself I believe through their speakers only when my mic is activated though This problem has been occuring for about almost a year now but i never really tried anything because it didnt bother me that much as my music is always on but it can t go on like that forever right system specs ati AMD X ghz Asus M A T Deluxe PSU OCZ ModXstream pro W now i dont think the rest of the specs really matter I hope anyone can help it would be really appreciated nbsp
It might also be the power supply. I suggest substituting a known good graphics card and then power supply to find the source of the problem.
Just curious if anyone has tried mixing the FireMV series with the consumer-side 4000 series, or any modern consumer series from the 3000's to 6000's.
I may need to do this for a workstation environment where only my primary monitors are handling video and such, and I have a couple of 2-D business apps being displayed on the x1 FireMV 2260 card.
Anyone worked with this?
Thanks for any help.
you could probably install both, but you would most-likely need to leave one disabled at a time to eliminate driver conflicts and connect the display to the corresponding card.
Hello all I recently picked up a Gateway E which has the slim case I know its old but it was free I did purchase a new HDD for it as well as a DVD-burner Other than that it already had GB of memory and a slim MicroATX Gateway solutions for a Cooling Series - case E GHz M Pentium processor I would really like to use it but it is VERY loud I don t see how someone could work with Cooling solutions for a MicroATX slim case - Gateway E Series it on their desk annoys the Cooling solutions for a MicroATX slim case - Gateway E Series heck out of me I removed the heat sink cleaned off the old grease and blew out all the dust Cooling solutions for a MicroATX slim case - Gateway E Series and reinstalled with new grease This seemed to help a little but not very much At idle the processor temp hovers around C is that normal for this processor The fan speed depends on the case temperature or processor temp so when it gets warm the fan is really turning up to rpm I saw Its not really the fan itself that is making noise but its the air flowing through the case fan that makes it sound like a jet engine Are there any suggestions I really don t want to put any more money into it but I was thinking about just getting a different case This would require me to buy a new PSU and heatsink fan also Having the slim case is not a big deal to me Thanks nbsp
No, 60C at idle isn't normal. You were on the right track with changing the case. Most of my CPUs run in the neighborhood of 35 to 40C at idle. (The exception is my Prescott P-4 in an Emachines T-5026, which ATM, is 53C under light load). I haven't seen 60c since the last 100 degree day in my non air conditioned house
I'm curious about the CPU, you've included everything except the actual part number.
You should also investigate to verify that your motherboard is an actual mATX form factor, so that it would mount correctly in a standard case.
One quick question, were the temps that high before you remounted the HSF?
Last night I powered off my laptop, I got into work and powered it on, and to my disliking I discovered that it would turn on, the lit wifi buttons and volume controls would turn on, but the pc would not boot up. To add to the mystery of this the num lock and caps lock lights keep flashing. Anyone have any ideas as to what is wrong with my laptop?
problem resolved, my CPU went bad.
For a while now, I've been curious to know what the differences are in the Western Digital Caviar Series.
So far as I know, Black is high performance, Green is eco-friendly and slow, but I'm not sure what the Blue series has to offer, other than a lower price tag.
Can anyone clearify what the techinical differences are between Black and Blue? For high performace reasons, I bought the Black series for my tower, but what would I have been missing out on had I gone for the Blue series?
Thanks in advance.
In theory, the Black is supposed to be the faster drive. In actuality, there isn't much between them. Speed rather depends on platter size and cache - The Black drives are either 32 or 64Mb cache, while the Blue drives top out at 32Mb.
Black drives carry a five year warranty, while Blue drives are three years which is probably of more significance.
I've been looking into purchasing a new Nvidia GPU that supports DX11.
I have an EVGA motherboard, however, the GPU does not have to be from that subsidiary company. I was looking between the 460 and the 470, and couldnt decide whether or not the extra hundred bucks for the 470 would be worth it or not. I will not be using 3D vision, so count that out.
I didn't want to get the 480 since thats around 500 bucks.
What are your opinions? I will be playing games such as Crysis 2 when that comes out, Battlefield BC2, Medal of Honor, Dirt 2, Metro 2033, Mafia II, etc.
My system specs are as follows:
EVGA P55V 120-LF-E651-TR Intel chipset motherboard
Intel i7-860 Quad CPU @ 2.8ghz
OCZ Gold 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 1333mz PC3 10666 (OCZ3G1333LV4G63581470)
as of now i have the EVGA nvidia ge-force 9800 gtx GPU
and my PSU is an LSP Ultra 750w ATX.
460 is far more useful.
I'm no computer genius, but I knew that having unused programmes on my laptop can't be helping my running speed etc, so in a bid to be quicker I decided to have a clean up.
I went into my add/remove programmes and got rid of a few things...
- MSN messenger
- Adobe Photoshop
- And a few other things I deemed unnecessary.
After that I had no sound. I tired a system restore, nothing, and I've been on the acer website and downloaded the audio driver, still nothing.
I'm running XP, as I tried vista and my laptop didn't take to kindly to this upgrade.
So any help would be very much appreciated. I'm not a major rush, so if it take a week or so of process of elimination I honestly don't mind, its just terrible sat with a silent laptop.
Thanks a lot, Eleanor.
Are you sure you installed the correct audio driver ?
I use, a free program from 'Drivereasy.com' It will scan yout PC and get the right drivers for you. But its a good move to uninstall the old one in 'Device Manager' first
Any chance you have just muted the speakers ? ( left click on the speaker in the taskbar and push the marker up to about 15).
I'm trying to decide between two different Acer Aspire Notebooks.
2.20 GHz AMD V Series V120 single-core processor with 512 KB L2 cache and 1066 MHz front-side bus
250 GB SATA hard drive (5400 RPM)
3 GB of installed DDR3 RAM (1066 MHz; expandable to 8 GB)
ATI Radeon HD 4250 graphics (with 256 MB of discrete video memory) It provides up to 1919 MB of total shared system memory
The other has:
AMD Athlon II X2 dual-core P320 processor
2.10GHz, 1066MHz Front Side Bus, 1MB L2 Cache
2GB DDR3 system memory
250GB SATA hard drive
ATI Radeon HD 4250 graphics with 256MB of dedicated system memory
Which would be better for simple computing, surfing, and streaming videos?
IMO the dual core, but it obviously takes more power, though you don't mention battery life or portability.
hey i've got an aspire mini notebook and the power will come on but the screen doesn't show up. i cant really tell if its booting or not. i hooked it up to a monitor and the light on it flashes from green to orange and keeps flashing back and forth and nothing else. if anyone could give me some sort of idea what might be causing this to where i wouldn't have to open up the laptop i would be so thankful.
Perhaps the inverter for the screen has burned out, it rests behind the screen ad the bottom, and is long, like a pencil... just plugs onto a two-wire socket. The difficulty is that it takes some work to disassemble the screen. The inverter is available, usually on eBay, and from the manufactuer... $7.95 to $49 depending on where you get it.
I recently acquired a laptop with no visible brand...anywhere ! The only data is on the bottom and denotes : Ew2
which I've been able to decipher as : Quanta Ew2 motherboard sold as either a PC Club or an Optima system. My question is this : does anyone out there have any idea where I can get a replacement keyboard as 4 keys are damaged. I've Googled until my google got swollen, I Lycosed until my lycos was RAW and I finally in an act of desperation I Binged until I was truly sick. Which only took a short time as I'm fully MS intolerant
Any leads will be greatly appreciated..

Have you tried connecting an external monitor, boot, press and hold F8 and try to get into safe mode. Have you installed any software recently that might have cause the reboots? What were you doing on the computer before this started happening? If you can get the computer to stop rebooting with F8 you can restore Windows to an earlier date with Windows Restore.

memory slots to fill, while every motherboard of that type I have researched only
has 2 memory slots. In addition, most of the Series B desktops I looked into

Because my motherboard has 3 memory slots, would I be allowed to insert three 256MB memory sticks, giving me a total memory of 768MB? I'm told that you should
not exceed the required limit of memory. Would someone care to comment on my

Hello I have a Dell Mini 2.5 I should Series Vertex do with my SATA OCZ What SSD? II with a GB SSD in it I don t save many files on my computer so until recently the GB hard drive was more than enough for my use and I found the speed to be very good I decided to upgrade to a GB SSD but when I purchased it I mistakenly bought a OCZ SATA II GB hard drive rather than the PCI-E compatible drive Obviously an embarassing error on my part but now I need to decide what to do I got a great deal on the GB OCZ drive on tigerdirect com I could return it but after paying the shipping to return the item plus a restocking fee I have done the math and figured I might as well just keep the drive My What should I do with my OCZ Vertex Series 2.5 SATA II SSD? question is what is my best option for getting the most for my money Buy a new or refurbished laptop and use the OCZ drive for that or use the drive for a future use and go ahead and buy the correct SSD for the Dell Mini I would also consider an option to buy a desktop and use the SATA drive for that Appreciate any suggestions anyone might have nbsp
Sell the ssd on ebay for the price you paid and buy the correct format of ssd you need. If you plan on getting a desktop soon I'd consider keeping it, but I wouldnt get the desktop just because you have the ssd.

Corsair is generally considered to be a slightly more reliable brand. I personally would suggest a single 12V rail with high amperage. Do you require a modular PSU? If not, then the Corsair 650TX is cheaper than it's modular counterpart, the 650HX.
I think that for a single PowerColor HD 4850 the Corsair 550VX will be more than sufficient. However, if you're looking to keep the system more "forward compatible" (not future proof because nothing is), the Corsair 650TX should do great. I would think that the 650TX would be the best choice for CrossFire with 2 HD 4850s.
Whenever I'm watching a vid or playing a game from time to time I hear this high frequency sound coming from my PC and the vid or game starts to move like in slow motion for a while then it's back to normal again until it happens another time.
I'd probably be looking at an RMA for the graphics card if the noise is coming from there. A lot of nVidia cards produce coil whine as what amounts to a standard feature, but in this case it's more likely that voltage regulation circuitry producing audible vibrations during routine operation is indicative of an impending capacitance fail state due to microscopic shorts and/or trace breaks.
If the noise is emanating from the PSU then replace it ASAP- no good can come of keeping a faulty power supply hooked up to the system.
Could someone give me a link to a motherboard beeper as this board does not come with one?
thank u Nick
How about this one? http://www.cwc-group.com/8ohm.html
I have the above PC and was hoping to increase the Ram size from 2gig to 4 gig.
I had a fruitless chat with Sony tech support (as usual) and they inform me that 2gig is the max for my machine.
The mobo has 4 ram slots 184pin config and at the moment is carrying 4 x 512m memory sticks type PC3200U and was hoping to fit 4x 1gig type PC3200U sticks. Unfortuately the PC takes for ever to boot with 4 x 1gig sticks in.
Can anyone advise if this machine is at its max of 2gig or can the BIOS be pursuaded to see 4gig?
Hopefully I can workout the new 4 x 1gig sticks config, if not I will have to return them to the supplier. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hmmm....guess my enquiry does not attract the same attention as game machines and building new computers...did get 63 viewers though but no enlightenment.
I came across this from Guru, In a related link they claim that they have something up their sleeve for the release of the 59xx series. i was wondering given the monstrous length of the these things (13.5") if it might be a triple GPU or something like that?....HMMMM
Come on man! They hardly can get performance out of two gpus there's no need to go three IMO:haha:
Waiting for nvidia launch... The competition would get really HOT:evil:

What is "restore disk"? Are you talking about system restore feature in Windows or a disk image backup utility or something else?
Does anybody know anything?
i have looked everywhere, cant find anything.
all i can find is what prices to expect.....
Haven't heard anything... probably because ATI doesn't plan on releasing new GPUs anytime soon.
Hi guys So the hard drive in my computer System cards? graphics reqs and games up coming for and just became corrupted or something and I lost all my data Since my computer was pretty old anyway I figured it was a good excuse to get a new one There are a couple things I want to know before I buy the computer though I m and school s about to start so I absolutely NEED to get a computer right now I like to game but my parents only allow me to over the summer when it can t interfere with my schoolwork So I guess what I m asking is what s a good computer to get now that will support the newest DX graphics cards and games next year Recommendations on a CPU RAM and power supply would be awesome I m System reqs for up and coming games and graphics cards? thinking about getting a computer with an Intel Pentium Dual-Core E Ghz CPU gigs of RAM and watt power supply I have heard though that CPUs with something in the E xxx or E xxx would be better and that I would need around a watt power supply for some of the better video cards Any suggestions would be great thanks nbsp
can you tell us a little more about what you want from this machine/ like what res do you want to game at, what is your budget, do you want to overclock, do you do any video editing or rendering, etc. actually if you supply the answers to these questions http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic119618.html it will help us get you better recommendations
Okay, so my sister's Sony Vaio VGN-NR120E has a damaged keyboard.
I found a place to buy the part (ebay, various other sites, etc. all sell them...) but for the life of me, I cannot figure out how the heck to get the keyboard off of the thing to replace it.
Has anyone replaced a keyboard on a Sony Vaio VGN-NR series before or knows how to do it? I'm fairly confident in my abilities but I want to avoid dismantling parts of the computer I don't need to, so any insight on how it's fastened on there would help.
sony laptops use (like most do) very small clips at the top of the keyboard, usually 3 or 4 of them along with screws from the bottom,, finding which screws is a trial, unlike Dell who mark the screws (k) for keyboard, (p) for palmrest etc etc.
Once you find out which screws they are get a credit card or similar and slide it across the top of the keyboard between the top and the case, you will feel the clips, use another card to gently lift the keyboard at the same time, be careful once done as their is a ribbon cable on a plug that connects to the motherboard, a gentle pull should pull it out if its a molex type, or else it may be a lift up the black bar type and slide the cable out, or slide a little lug on either side up (to the side etc) to remove the cable.
i have the exact this problem of this guy mentioned before in this forums
i have this problem since 4 months around and i dont know how to fix it, i was about to reformat but the answer there says that the problem is not a conflict with the drivers and the system.
You need to give us proper information, pc specs,

will my computer be able to run something with the requirments of Pentium 4 3.0Ghz/Athlon 64bit 3000+
Hi all, I have a thinkpad 1411 i series from 1998. A workhorse. I always use the machine plugged in. Original battery.
Was getting a battery bad/drive OK message, then I would hit enter and it would boot up.
Now will not boot at all.
Can't it work with just the plug or do I have to buy another battery?
I just use it for a word processor and family photos now. but I like it for that. I have a dell dual core /quad for the web.
Shouldn't it work with just the plug, I don't get it?
Thanks for advice
Not all notebooks will work without a battery. I have a Toshiba A70, and had issues a while back which I thought was the battery, so I tried running without it. Try taking the battery out and see if it starts. Keep in mind that it's a good idea to cycle batteries in notebooks even if they are always plugged in, they should be discharged maybe once a month or so.
Your particular error seems to be coming from the CMOS, maybe you can look at that, considering its been 11 years, maybe its due for a change.
I have a radeon 9000 series graphics card, i have it working and everything but when i try to play half life 2:episode 2 it pops up with a "need to update drivers" message but when i go to the ati site none of the drivers work for me coming up with "missing inf file" "connect a vga cable"
If you could and if anyone had this problem and resolved it please send me the link with the update
Computer Specs are
pentium 4 cpu 2.93ghz 2.93ghz
2.49 of ram
radeon 9000 graphics card (which i am able to use)
What Operating System are you running and it is fully updated using Windows Update?

Suggest you begin unplugging cables and power sockets to see if you can make it stop... that may be a strange way of trouble shooting... But you may have audio feedback from a defective device... and first you have to find the device.
I assume you have carefully checked each and every cable and connection... an assured that everything is fully plugged in...
I would suspect the Sony optical drive, as we have seen noise emissions linked to that unit.
Try to get down to power supply, hard drive, one memory module, audio socket, and speakers... And also test the speakers on a friend's computer.
There are a great number of devices that, when defective, will cause this... so a systemized approach, with notes, may be helpful.
This happens to broadcast engineers all the time... and it is usually a mistake they have made with one cable or connection or another.
Ok, this is my first post here, just made an account to post this.
I want to be able to play Second Life and I need a better graphics card. Here is the system requirements:
(would have the link, but its my first post)
I am on an XP, and I would like to get a compatible card from the recommended list.
I have looked at some other posts, and I am really confused. I understand the basics of computers, but I have no idea about this. I think I may need to upgrade my power supply? I have no idea what to post here, but I will try.
Here is what I have:
Pentium 4 CPU 2.80 GHz
2.79 GHz, 1.99 GB of RAM
Physical Address Extension
This is from dxdiag:
Intel 82519G/GV/910GL Express Chipset Family
My driver is already updated, and it still doesn't work.
Ok you said upgrade your video card?......so what video card do you have in there now?
Also you will have to either take the panel off your computer and get the brand and watts of your PSU (power supply) or look it up. So far your CPU and RAM look good.
Just get the other info and i will be able to help further
today i have heard that the nvidia gtx and 9 series have a cooling and temp's problem and he(the seller) told me that these cards performance are great but they have a temp problem, and the reviews or nvidia wont write this problem, and that nvidia produced this card before it's time because ati has produced the hd 4890 with it's great performance ,he told me to ask the users of these cards, and i want to buy a new gtx 295 graphic card
so guys who use nvidia gtx or 9 series,is that right?
please post your comments and thoughts about these products
and thank you
lol, I own one, no temp issues, it operates at about 55-65C with the stock cooler, make sure you download something like evga precision and you can control the fan speed yourself. I'm currently using a dangerden water block for it to keep temps down for my over clocks.
I would like to upgrade the CPU on an older model Compaq Presario 5000/K series desktop. Currently installed is a 900Mhz Duron. I'm not sure what the model MB is, but presume it to be a micro ATX of some description. Would it be possible to "pop" in an Athlon XP 2.0 and if that is possible would the BIOS need upgrading as well?
Can you be a little more specific on the Compaq part number or provide a number like 5002US? A 900MHz Duron, but what about the motherboard bus speed? I saw a listing for the 5002US model with only a 200MHz bus speed... This could be your limiting factor in deciding what CPU would work for you
Hey guys as the title states I am having constant problems with my graphics driver crashing with the following message quot your graphics driver has stopped responding to commands quot something along ATI Radeon 9550/X1050 problems series constant those lines anyway lol I am using an AMD Athlon processor With the ATI Radeon X series MB VGA graphics card MB DDR RAM I recently tried updating to the latest drivers from ATI but had severe installation problems and ended up having to do a system restore So i am using the standard driver I can play counter-strike and battlefield reasonable consistantly Wont crash out for a few hours or ATI Radeon 9550/X1050 series constant problems so Which points out this cant be an overheating problem But when i try to play WoW i get about - minutes game time before it stops responding If anyone has any knowledge about how to fix this it would be great Edit Since doing the system restore my CPU speed has gone from ghz to mhz wtf is up with that nbsp
Try "undoing" system restore. You should get get back your 2.4ghz processor speed. Since you are running only 512 mbs of ddr ram, you are operating with minimum ram. Try doubling that, it will help and might stop the crashes. Does your "paging file" (virtual memory) have at least 1 or 1.5 gigs? You have to have that. Good Luck.
Hello I arrived back at university with my pc yesterday and tried to LAN/VPN coming since back uni problem to connect to the university s LAN/VPN problem since coming back to uni vpn after setting up a vpn network connection exactly how the university tells us to I did previously have the internet working on this pc before I went home with my pc for the easter holidays But now that I m back I couldn t get it to work Vista was telling me that I was connected to the ethernet and therefore I could get onto internal university services but when I tried to connect LAN/VPN problem since coming back to uni to the vpn and put in my username password and domain vista just stayed on quot verifying username and password quot for about minute and then said it couldn t connect to the network I have tried the same cable in the same LAN/VPN problem since coming back to uni ethernet wall port with the same username and password on my laptop and it is working fine that is how I m currently on the internet to write this After plugging the cable back into my pc I have noticed that one of the lights on the ethernet port is orange and the other flashes yellow I m guessing the orange light means error It now wont even be connected to the ethernet and just says there are no connections I have also used the motherboard s support CD to reinstall the ethernet drivers to no avail I have turned on the option in BIOS to check whether the lan is working in POST and it always says quot lan cable failiure quot Now I really don t know what to do at all except for change motherboards Is this a hardware problem or OS problem Any ideas Thankyou for your time Blekk My PC Specs Asus Striker II Extreme Republic Of Gamers Edition It has Ethernet ports neither work Intel Q Gh Quad-Core Corsair Gb DDR Mhz Seagate Gb SATAI Gbps Hitatachi Tb SATA Gbps Asus GTS mb PCI-E Windows Vista Business Ultimate bit nbsp
I would use View Network Connections to delete the Lan Connection and then
use the Network Wizard to create a new one -- be sure to declare the network as
Then follow the VPN setup for the University
I hope someone can help with this. I have a Toshiba Equium L40-156 laptop that had been working fine as recently as this morning, stopped for breakfast and the laptop will not come on. There are no lights, screen totally black, no sounds of motor running or anything.
Any advice would be helpful. I'm not too computer savvy so simple instructions would also be most appreciated.
Check your power cords, power strip, and the connector at the laptop. Reset the power strip, wiggle the cords, etc. Make sure the wall plug has power. Sniff around the laptop, see if you smell that burnt electrical odor - that might indicate a burnt motherboard or power supply. Overheating is a possibility, let it cool off for a while, and make sure there are no blocked vents. If none of that works, you are probably out of luck, it would be expensive to repair if the power supply on the laptop is bad. The hard drive and memory can be removed pretty easily on most laptops, so you could get your data back. There are adapters that will make a laptop drive fit in a desktop, and you can get external usb cases to fit the 2.5" hard drive.
I have a Compaq and used to have no problems with audio until recently. The problem started when I was looking (just guessing) for a driver for my cell phone using one of these driver repair programs offered on the internet. After scanning and downloading the drivers the program said I needed. The sound ceased to work. The message I'M getting is "no sound chip installed or is in use with another program. Any suggestions? I've done everything I could think of but still no sound. Please advise...Thanks again
NEVER USE ANY OF THOSE ONLINE DRIVER PROGRAMS!! (cannot stress that enough)
You've probably just stumbled across the same problem a friend of mine ran into. After using one of those so called "Driver Detective" programs online, his sound, among a slew of other things, stopped working and it was actually malware. The system detected no sound device installed, though the drivers for his sound card were installed, and all of the mixing software was inaccessible. After hours of scanning, looking through registry entries and installed drivers, I couldn't find what was causing the problem, so we had to reinstall the OS.
Hopefully I'm wrong and your case is different. Check to see if the drivers for the sound card are still installed and if they are not, reinstall them yourself. You may even be able to roll back to a previous driver in Device Manager. Good luck.
I have a friend that called me about his computer. He had just moved it and hooked it back up and when he turns it on now he's getting one continuous beep that sounds much like a "flatline", you know..when someone dies? lol I've only heard it over the phone so far and don't have details on the computer specs and such, but i was wondering if anybody has had this problem before and could give me an idea on what hardware might be the issue. I was thinking RAM originally like maybe it disconnected while moving it, but I had him re-seat it and it's still doing it. Thanks in advance.
I'd say power connector for addon Video card has fallen out
Hey dudes i was wondering if you could help me figure out what s going on here though i might already have a guess i d like to get opinions as well as solving matters I m helping my friend v3000 Wireless issue Presario Series on Compaq solve a problem Wireless issue on Compaq Presario v3000 Series with her laptop where her Compaq Presario v AU suddenly just stopped detecting the wireless card even in device manager Now we ve tried reformatting running it in linux or win vista and I ve even gone so far as to take out her wireless card to test it in my laptop and to test mine on hers only to get the same results Wireless issue on Compaq Presario v3000 Series that the card isn t detected in her compaq whereas her Broadcom Wireless works on my ASUS laptop I m suspecting that over time of her using the laptop on the bed or so that the board has somewhat cook off probably any input on this so far the only option i see now is to head it back to compaq nbsp
hamsteyr, i'm sorry, this is first symptoms of northbridge dying(nv6150go). the problem is that nv6150go makes some disturbances in pci-ex bus,and thus preventing the wireless card from detection. well, you an try to update your bios, it may help. i had 10 or 20 cases like this in my repairing practice. 5 laptops were cured(completely?) with BIOS reflashing. the others - nv6150go/nf-spp100 replacing.
I'm waiting on the next nVidia series of cards, (GTX 380?) as my 8800GTX is still ok for the minute.
Does anyone know when the next release is? I'm guessing around July?...
Just intrigued, because I want to make a monster PC in the summer!
The earliest news on nVidia usually shows up here:
