I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I've done no overclocking, no advanced work whatsoever. Every time I try to google my issue, all of the solutions seem to be based around the person with the issue overclocking their system thus causing high tempuratures. This is not that issue.

On to the actual problem, my motherboard reports temperatures of 69c when running any program that takes any worthwhile amount of system resources (and some that don't), in particular, most games. CPU and GPU tempuratures seem far lower, around 30-40c. Assuming the sensor isn't to blame (and it isn't, if the feel of the case is any indication), are there any reliable ways to lower MB tempurature with simple BIOS and power settings?

Running an old F1a55-M (FM1) on Win 7 Home Premium, SP1.

EDIT: The motherboard idles at 47, which also seems high. I've changed locations for better airflow several times and wonder if I just flat-out need a larger case.

I have G41 M/B + Core 2 Duo .2.40G E4600 & 2Gb GSkill RAM (F3-10600CL9S-2GBNT, DDR3-1333 PC3-10600)
Now I want to Add More 4GB + current 2gb.
Which RAM will compatible with my above configuration.

A:RAM Upgrade

If you are planning on using the current RAM also than you should stick with same RAM manufacture. You will have less issues that way. Without knowing exactly what your motherboard make and model is (G41 does not supply enough information about whom the manufacture is and what model), I am unsure how many RAM slots you have total and how many are in use). Try this link (Newegg - GSkill RAM) and you can choose which one fits your budget.

I recently decided I'm going to start using my old laptop again. I swapped the hard drive for an SSD and I'm quite pleased with the performance boost that got me. I am now looking for a ram upgrade from 2gb to 8gb.
I have a Dell inspiron n4010.
I went to crucial's website and did the system scan. The scan said that this would fit my needs.

Unfortunately, crucial doesn't ship to me. I'm forced to look elsewhere. I looked for something similar on another store's website. My question to all the experts out there is: will 2 of these work with my laptop and get me the 8gb of ram I need?
thanks for the help!

A:Quick ram upgrade question

Yes. The specs are exactly the same. Over the years I have used both Kingston and Crucial many times for memory upgrades and both are excellent.

You can also do a memory scan at Dell's own website. Just don't buy what they offer because they'll tell you to only buy genuine Dell memory blah, blah, blah. The Kingston will do you quite fine.

I have an older eMachines Desktop PC model EL1360G which has a 200 watt power supply.
I would like to upgrade it to at least a 400 watt power supply.
Does anyone have a suggestion as to where or what I should buy? I watched a few videos on youtube on how to do the replacement but how do I know all the plugs on the new unit are the same and will fit? Because if they don't, I'll be more confused than I already am.

I am planning on building a small form factor PC but it will need RS232. I don't know for sure if there will be room for an add on card for the RS232. Is there a usb to RS232? If so, will it work as good as an add on card?

A:RS232 Question

Check out this link: TRENDnet USB to RS-232 . I do not personally own one, but I have used them at my job and they seem to work pretty well. You may have a driver issue, depending on the OS you will be using, but for the most part it works.

As seen on this site, the previous USB 3.0 drivers were v3.0.4.65 for Intel 8/9 Series Chipset. On Gigabyte's website for the Z97 boards, they also list USB 3.0 v3.0.4.65 as the latest for their boards. Now my question is, why on Intel's Download Center, is USB 3.0 v3.0.4.65 listed as Intel NUC drivers? Intel forum staff claim that version is for Intel NUC only, but it doesn't seem that way.

Hey, im planning on upgrading either my cpu or my gpu, and I need to know what would give me a more
noticeable increase in performance in gaming.

The gpu I currently have is a gtx 760, and my cpu is an i5 - 4430 3ghz
the cpu I'd upgrade to is an i7 - 4790k 4ghz, and the gpu I'd get is a gtx 970.

So which one should I upgrade?

A:Need advice on what to upgrade

The i5 is considered the so-called sweetspot for gaming and since games are gpu intensive I would upgrade the gpu first.

A few questions for you:
1. How much RAM do you run?
2. Are you getting any lag in gaming? What is your current average FPS?
3. What do you hope to gain that would make your gaming experience noticeably increased?

Hey guys,

I have question about backbone networks. Need Help!

If an organisation has 3 departments.

Key servers are in different departments ? so a user from 1 department X reads and writes to file servers in another department Y. And both users access mail from a server in department Z.

The traffic and broadcast storms originating in one department is causing bandwidth saturation in other departments.

The core of the network is slow and is unable to meet the response time requirements of various critical business applications.

What is the solution based on core technology design, LAN technologies and design solutions to address inter-departmental traffic issues?

A:Question about backbone networks

The traffic and broadcast storms originating in one department is causing bandwidth saturation in other departments.Click to expand...

major faux paux. Broadcasts should not go beyond the current subnet.

I would guess

you're departments are co-located in the same building
and all are on one subnet
For large companies per the above, likely the 192.168.x.y is insufficient and your lan is using a subnet like 10.x.y.z for ease of network administration.

Broadcasts should be limited to resource online/offline and contained within the network segment where the device is attached. Users / systems in HQ do not need the status of a printer going offline the the shipping department.

segment the departments into unique subnets
then add static routes between them according to their need
eg: the company domain server would be needed by all (dept <-> srvr)
including the email and directory system.

FEW departments need access to the sales group or its data

You need to analyze the departmental workflow to begin this project, and implement one network change at a time.

If you do indeed have a full ATX case, it will fit mATX as well as miniITX motherboards.

What exactly is your budget?

Newegg has kits anywhere from $100 to $800. -

These are nice kits for around $300
I know you said you didn't want to replace the case but for around 300 this is not a bad deal
You can find lower prices at Tigerdirect with smaller bundles. -
In my opinion don't get a kit with Celeron or Pentium, unless you are planing an upgrade in the future to i5 or i7. Bewarned though that Intel pricing doesn't fall as quickly as one would hope.

As for AMD suggestions, you'll need to speak with someone else. I'm not an AMD follower. I will admit that for the best savings AMD is the way to go. But then performance wise they struggle to compare to Intel, when you match prices. Which is the very reason I advised not to get Celeron or Pentium. The i3 or comparable AMD is the perfect performance level to be. Anyone needing more power will know they need more.

Hey guys,

I am planning on upgrading my computer eventually so that I can play Star Wars Battlefront 3 when it is released at ultra super eye candy settings with extra bling bling with 60 FPS when it is released.

I am currently running the following setup :

i5 4570. Never goes over 40c under load.
GTX 780ti HoF
8 GB RAM Corsair vengeance

So I can play most games today without any issues, but I had some issues with Farcry 4 on ultra settings (runs fine on High most times ) so now I am worried if I can run Battlefront 3 when it comes.

So my thoughts are if I should only upgrade my CPU and it might be enough?

OR if I should get another 780ti Hof to run SLI? This worries me though since I have had my current 780ti for about 1 year and it would suck if it would break in a year and I would be stuck with 1 card and the whole investment would be for nothing (Or very expensive atleast)

A:Upgrade CPU or go SLI?

First, before investing anymore $ what are the publisher's recommended specs for Battlefront 3?

Second, there is some spirited debate whether or not the performance increase using SLI or Crossfire is really worth the cash layout. Personally, IMO, the cost compared to actual performance increase isn't worth it.

Third, the i5 is the sweet-spot for gaming.

* So find out first what the recommended specs are and take it from there...

I currently have an I5 3570K in there. I believe my Mobo is LGA 1155.

Can I pull out the 3570L and drop in a I7 4790K? I 'think' they are the same socket.

Not sure if I will see any real increase in performance. I over clock the I5 to 4.2.

Any advice is welcome.

Sorry, no. While your motherboard does have socket 1155, the processor i7 4790K is socket 1150. You'll need a new motherboard.

Hello everyone!
I'm a newbie to PC gaming, I have been playing "Dayz" on my HP laptop, but the graphics quality and lag I experience is rather annoying! So I'm looking to replace a few components on my laptop but I have no idea where to start or what to change, so I've come to Techspot looking for advice!
bear in mind I don't want to blow the bank on loads of expensive upgrades
here are the specs, any suggestions?

Microprocessor AMD Quad-Core A4-5000M APU with Radeon HD 8330 Graphics (1.5 GHz, 2 MB cache)
Chipset AMD A76M FCH
Memory 4 GB DDR3
Video Graphics AMD Radeon HD 8330 Graphics (up to 1.98 GB)
Hard Drive 750 GB 5400 rpm SATA
Up to 24 GB partition for system recovery

Thanks in advance

A:Recommendations for my laptop upgrade

Unfortunately most laptops do not have the option of replacing components. Your options for this HP Laptop is: upgrading your RAM to 8GB (or more depending on how much max RAM the laptop allows) & changing the Hard Drive from the 5400 rpm to either a 7200 rpm or better yet a SSD. Laptops are not component swappable like the Desktop computers are. Most laptops have parts soldered in on the motherboard. You might be able to eliminate some "Lag" with the RAM and Hard Drive changes, but if you are looking for a drastic improvement, I would suggest a laptop more suited for gaming.

Hi all. So I was wondering if you guys had any opinions on gaming headsets for pc. My headphone jack for my computer isn't working so I don't think I can use any wired headsets (if I'm wrong on this please let me know). So I was looking into wireless ones, preferably $100 and under. The three I narrowed it down to were the corsair 2100, turtle beach px4 or 5 (from amazon or ebay) and the PDP afterglow kral. Anybody have any opinions on any of these ones or any other ones you would recommend? Thanks for any help on this!

Sure, it will work fine. You have plenty of PSU power for the card. If you wanted you could even go with the 660 or 760.

I was looking to upgrade my Dell Insprion 2330 all-in-one PC to a solid state drive, to improve the performance. Firstly, is this possible? If so, is it practical?

Currently I have the factory 2TB hard disk installed and it seems a shame to loose all that storage space. From what I have seen it may be possible to replace the blu-ray drive with a SSD instead? Primarily I would be looking to run my operating system of the SSD and then use the existing drive for the bulk of my storage. That being said I am not sure if I would want to loose my blu-ray player either. I don't use it all that much, but it is still nice to have it there. I understand I may need to make some compromises to make the upgrade, so hopefully someone will be able to point me in the best direction and tell me whether it is really worth it. My PC doesn't run slow my any stretch, but from what I have seen it can make a big difference!

Thanks in advance,

A:SSD upgrade for Dell Inspiron 2330, is it possible?

Technically speaking, yes you could replace the hard drive with an SSD. I have never changed anything (hardware wise) with an All-In-One unit, but it must be possible. If you are looking to keep the extra storage space, you could take the 2TB hard drive and put it in an external hard drive case and connect it to one of your two USB 3.0 ports. That way you still have storage space to use while keeping your Blu-ray drive and having a SSD for your Operating System and Programs. It wont be as fast as leaving it inside connected with a SATA cable, but it will be better then connecting it USB 2.0 or not using it at all. If you do go through with this "venture", take photos and document what you did each step and then post them up here. May come in handy for someone else in the future.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure she'll be able to support an updated GPU.

Her motherboard is a Pegatron Benecia with a Core 2 Quad Q8300 and an GeForce 7600 GS.

Before jumping to a new card, I was wondering if this motherboard would support one, or if she'd need to update the motherboard, and CPU with the GPU.

Sorry if this is the wrong spot to post, and thanks for any help!

A:Friend needs to upgrade GPU

I would say yes it will support any PCIe x16 graphics card. Just make sure the power supply is large enough to support your purchase. I personally wouldn't spend over $150, on a graphics card for a Intel Core2 (LGA775) machine.

Fortunately I think the Core2 8300 still has a little life left. Especially for those that are on a tight budget.

Here is a site that will help you compare graphics cards if you need it. As you can see the GT 640 would be a worthy upgrade.,3214-4.html

Cable managment is tough but I expected that with the amount I packed into this form factor. Keeps my gfx cards around 70 degrees on stock settings. Fits full size CPU coolers. 1. What hardware do you have in your system that needs such power? We need your hardware specs: CPU, GPU, amount of RAM, drives, etc.
2. Why does he believe a complete rebuild is necessary because that particular psu isn't made anymore? Is it a special size? If your case is to standard specs then see point #3.
3. Who is this support tech? Does he work for Digital Storm by chance? Check these psu's that will more than meet your power needs: 600479299&IsNodeId=1&name=1200W - 1499W
4. Before you spend any $ find someone who has a digital volttage meter and test your psu to see if that is really the cause.

Your motherboard is designed for the socket LGA 1155 series of Intel processors. The i7 4790k that you ordered is the newest Intel 4th generation of cpus called Haswell. It is a socket LGA 1150 processor and will not work in your current board as per ASRock specs.

Also, 8 gigs is more than enough for gaming. Unless you are doing video rendering and graphics intensive applications you don't need 12 or 16 gigs of RAM

Sims 4 System Requirements & your PC system results

For Sims 4 according to the link above, your CPU GPU and memory is lacking for even the minimum system specs. We can recommend a GPU, but that's not all you need if you plan on playing Sims 4. And if you get a stronger GPU, chances are you will also need a stronger PSU. If 300W's is all you have for power, you are limited to sub $100 graphic cards. Which would be fine for Sims 4, but then you also have a CPU and memory that needs upgrading.

I am using a corsair H60 liquid cooler. Am I going to get better cooling results by putting the radiator on the top of the case and sucking room temp air in through the radiator and then pushing it out back with another fan(plus a front fan intake also). Or am I not going to notice anything by just having my front intake fan and push the air out through the radiator with a fan? Thanks.

It is probably best to push air out of the case with the radiator since that will probably lessen the amount of dust that comes into the radiator. That is my opinion though. Maybe someone else thinks otherwise.

A:CPU upgrade

Not trying to discourage you, but have you ever replaced a motherboard in a laptop before? I have and it certainly was a pain to get done correctly. Honestly, if you do not have much experience doing these types of things, your best bet is to buy a newer laptop. Laptops and Desktops are almost two different worlds when it comes to hardware. Changing hardware out on a desktop is easier because you have more room, whereas laptops are compact and compressed down and much more difficult to swap out parts (especially Motherboards and CPUs because they have to be compatible with the laptop casing so that you do not have spacing or heating issues). You also might run into the problem that the hardware might not connect properly to the new motherboard (ie. Laptop Monitor wires not able to connect). Again, I'm not trying to discourage you, but if you want the change to be as easy as possible, you should look for a replacement motherboard that will work as a direct swap out to the old one.

Now here's my question. I recently bought a PC but not the kind you'd want as a gamer. I want to know if it's possible for me to replace its current Video card to Higher one, I mean a Graphic card capable for gaming and compatible for my system. Also about the RAM, I want to know if it's OK for me to change it to like 16g? My current Video card is NVDIA GeForce GT 620 1g. -

A:Just a Simple Question :)

It mainly depends on your power supply, motherboard, and your computer's case on whether you can upgrade your video card. Chances are your power supply will be the most limiting factor on your machine. You could bump up to something like a 750 Ti without much concern about the PSU but anything higher and you'll likely need to change that part out also.

As far as the RAM goes it's all motherboard and what you've already got installed. You might end up having to remove some of your memory modules in order to put higher capacity ones in. That shouldn't be an issue with the Core i3 though - 16GB should be easily attainable.

Everything booted up just fine, but the HP keyboard and the Logitech mouse, both of which which work fine on another computer, aren't being recognized at all by the computer. No error messages, just not working. Not even lighting up. We've tried every USB port on the system, and even used a USB-PS/2 adapter to try it that way, to no avail. I'm out of things to try. My only thoughts:

1. Could USB be disabled in BIOS by default? If so, how do I change that without a keyboard and mouse, when I can't even access the BIOS?

2, Could the USB system on the new motherboard be defective? How do I test that?

3. Is there any possibility at all that it's related to the Antec 500W PSU--perhaps not enough wattage for this system? (Hard drives are all pretty old.)

A:USB keyboard and mouse not working after upgrade

Create and boot from a Knoppix Live CD (just google to find and download the ISO). If USB still doesn't work when you boot from knoppix, you know it must be either hardware or BIOS issue.

I'm considering the upgrade above. The problem is all the reviews on both coolers were made with different cpus at different overclocking settings. I even tried to narrow the comparisons to a common denominator, like the intel stock cooler, which is sometimes present in most reviews, but even then, different cpus were used, making the info not that reliable. After some reading, I understood that the H60 is more silent and, obviously, occupies much less space, win-win situation. But regarding the performance, the info is rather cloudy.

Does anyone know anything on the subject?

Personally I have played with H60's and Hyper212's and they both offer very similar performance. I would not count that as a worth upgrade except if you want a more silent system because the Hyper212 is already such an excellent air cooler and the H60 is kinda a low end liquid cooler.

Based on my experience, the same clock on the same chip result in the H60 (The only time I tested something like this was on a Phenom II X6 1100T at 4.0ghz) being a tad bit more silent, but the overclocking headroom remains the same for the most part (Within margin of error).

If you really want to move to Liquid cooling or upgrade for better clocks and a more silent system. Either an H80 style cooler or H100i (Or a likes AIO Liquid cooler) would be the best solution to go from a Hyper212.

With that budget and 500 watts, you should not be too limited in your purchases. One thing you need to check is if your Power Supply has a set of 6 pin connectors or 8 pin connectors because sometimes on the pre-bought machines they do not have too many.

Here is what I would recommend if you have at least 2 6 Pins available:

R9 280 £175
R9 270X £140

Those would both be excellent cards with the 280 being the best and the 270X being right below it in terms of performance. Both would be a huge step up from an HD 5450.

A:What to upgrade first?

The GPU offers biggest jump in gaming performance, but it recommends a 600W PSU. Considering you have an old Athlon 6-core CPU that chews power, and an old no-name PSU, I wouldn't risk it.

Slow for what purpose? Basic computing or are we talking about something more?

My suggestion would be upgrade to just 4gb of ram and then go from there if the needs are just basic. You could also grab an inexpensive SSD and upgrade it with a fresh install to add some better load times.

Beyond that it would just come down to what the machine is used for.

I have a HP a1020n Pavilion I use to do audio reconditioning on, it's running WinXP. I've maxed the memory and have a terabyte drive installed already. My question is; should I bother to try to upgrade to Win7 and add a DirectX 9 video card and a better audio card to replace the onboard chip or just junk it and buy something newer with Win7 packaged with it? I've read one thread here by someone trying to install an upgraded video (Upgrading video card on HP Pavilion a1020n with ATI Radeon X1600 Pro PCI-e) and it doesn't paint a very good picture of trying to do any of this. Any thoughts/advice are appreciated.

A:To Replace or Upgrade?

It isn't worth the money to upgrade in exchange for the performance increase you would get.

What do you audio reconditioning with? What software? Potentially you could scrap XP, install Linux and use Audacity. Only costs you your time, no money.

I've done a fair bit of audio reconditioning of speeches recorded on cassette tapes with Audacity.

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad T430 that I configured with 4 gigs of RAM (budget constraints at the time). It is in single channel (Lenovo never mentioned this tidbit of info; the sad part is both my wife's and daughter's 1st Generation Thinkpad Edge came with 4 gigs of dual channel at 7 timings). My CAS Latency is currently 11.

I am wanting to double the RAM to 8 gigs dual channel and I have the option of CAS Latency at either 9 or 11.

This laptop is used for business such as Office work, internet, email, streaming video, etc. In real world applications would I even notice the difference between my system running either 9 or 11 timings?

A:CAS Latency Question

I dont think it makes much of a difference. But of course, lower latency is better, but it doesnt mean it will bring a big performance boost. The boost will be miniscule.

So newegg is offering the Acer 29" B6 B296CLbmlidprz IPS monitor for about 350. Seems like a pretty good deal but I can't find many reviews on it. I was wondering if anybody had any experience with this monitor and/or if you guys have better options for someone who is looking for an IPS monitor below 400 bucks. I want to game with it as well as do some 3d modeling and photoshop work. So I need reasonable response time for gaming. I was also looking at the HP ZR2440w and was gonna get that until I saw this deal on newegg for a larger monitor. 24" models are fine but if there are good deals on some 27" inch ones then I would be interested in those as well. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I have to be at a meeting in about 2 hours. We are on the beach in South Carolina. Our ISP, Hargray, constantly goes out. We are a condo association and have a group connection with little radio connectors in each building. We are more out than on line. I did a speed check and get a dl of 11.24, and an ul at 1.18. Does this matter in affecting my internet connection? I have an ipad and laptop and both get get nada. Please give me something to take to my meeting to make an intelligent statement. Thank you.

What should I upgrade first ?

A:What should I upgrade first?

I'll save you a bit of time. You don't need to think of this as an upgrade. You need a whole new machine. Unless I am mistaken the following specs will be incompatible with new systems.

P4 systems nearly always will not even support Core2 CPU's.
HDD is likely IDE and is not supported without the addition of an IDE card on new systems.
Memory is likely DDR, where DDR3 will likely be needed.
You started a thread asking about online games that your machine can play. Chances are common with systems of your specs to only have a 300W PSU. That would be inadequate for anything other than on-board graphics. If you are looking at AMD's APU lineup, 300W's would be fine. If not, chances are you will need a better PSU as well as dedicated graphics.

Without knowing your full system specs, it is hard to say what all you can continue using. Long story short, I cringe when I hear someone mention upgrading their P4 system. Especially if suggest USB 3.0 ports on the front case. That would definitely dictate a new case, unless an additional drivebay is open for USB 3.0 ports. By the time you consider all the new possibilities available, you would notice hardly anything from the P4 era is still usable.

I have a 128gb samsung SSD. I was wondering what updates I can remove to get more space on the SSD because windows7+all updates are currently using half of the SSD space and somehow only 119gb of the SSD space is displayed so I'm guessing that 8gb is reserved or something.
I'm currently removing the extra languages and those are giving me and extra 5,5gb space

A:Windows 7 Ultimate updates and SSD question

Somehow I think you have more installed than Windows and updates. Internet Explorer, Bing Bar, and Bing Desktop are the only updates I have hidden. All other Windows Updates have been installed. I wouldn't put all the blame on WIndows, if you have an install using 60GB.

Anyone with more than 8GB memory and still has Pagefile and Hibernation, by default has more than 16GB used by these two files alone. I recommend using them only if needed. I personally don't need them and have removed them both.

Check and see if you have a Hibernation file. If you don't use hibernation features, the file can be removed.

Windows 7 ? Delete Hibernation File (hiberfil.sys)
To turn off or disable hibernation, type the following command at the prompt:
powercfg ?h off
This will disable hibernation and will remove the hiberfil.sys file from your system.Click to expand...

Monitor your memory usage and if you have more memory than you ever use. The Pagefile can be minimized. I currently have mine turned off, with 8GB installed. But caution though if you turn the Pagefile off, Windows will not be able to compensate for a shortage of memory and the Windows session will crash. While I am comfortable not using a Pagefile, I do not recommend others do the same until they are comfortable doing so. I recommend lowering the Pagefile size to 1GB, and if Windows needs more, the size will be automatically adjusted.

So, I recently decided I was going to upgrade my video card. Mostly because I have noticed a huge difference between my friends Skyrim game quality than my own. I am thinking of getting this card...
My system specs are pretty much the same as when I bought it.
Its a HP pavilion a6319fh PC. Everything is the same with the exception of my graphics card and power supply. My current graphics card is the ATI Radeon 4600 series.
My big questions are:
Will this card work with my machine?
Will this card run Skyrim on Ultra settings in vanilla?
Will this card be able to support possible heavy scripting and modding?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for any help

A:Video Card Upgrade Advice

Sure but a 500W power supply is recommended for a GTX 760. You may need to check the size of your power supply, as it is likely to need upgrading before replacing the GPU.

Hey guys, I've been looking for a GFX card to upgrade my HD6870. I've already decided to go with an AMD R9 280X, I just don't know which model to buy yet.

Right now, the MSI 280X seems like the best option to me. But I use 2 monitors and the MSI 280X only has these connections:
Dual-link DVI-I x 1
HDMI (version 1.4a) x 1
Mini DisplayPort x 2

The monitors I use are a BenQ XL2411T (144hz) and a NEC LCD22WV (old).
The BenQ has: D-sub / DVI-DL / HDMI x 1
The NEC has: VGA 15 pin D-sub x 1

Would I be able to use my NEC screen with the MSI 280X and use my BenQ at the same time, with 144hz refresh rate? I read somewhere that a newer type of HDMI supports at least 120hz, though I couldn't find a clear answer to that. I am willing to purchase converters if needed.

A:Simple question regarding GPU - Monitor connections

I'd connect BENQ via DVI, then use miniDP > DVI > VGA adaptors for the NEC.

Also I don't know what games you are playing, but you're not going to get 144fps @ 1920x1080 with a R9 280x on most games.

This is not intended to be a sob story but I just want you to know what it is all about. I have a niece that is slowly deteriorating from MS. She does not have much that she can do anymore but one of her enjoyments is playing a game called WSOP Challenge (world series of poker challenge). Right during Christmas the game stopped working and Sprint can't seem to help her get it back on her phone. She called me asking if I knew what to do and I tried but could not find any info on what she needed to do to get it working. Sprint told her to delete it from her phone which was not a good idea because I have found no where that she can download it from and put it back on her phone. Would anyone be so kind to give me some advice on how to fix her problem. Time is not on her side but what she does have left I want it to be very enjoyable. Thanks so much for your help.

Recently bought the GPU and realised that my current power supply wasn't quite good enough, so I went and bought an "emergency" PSU locally. Specifically an 850w PSU by Power Zone.

Now the GPU is amazing but sometimes I struggle to run some games on full settings, such as Assassins Creed 4, Shadow Warrior, etc. , and obviously I bought the card with intentions of running games on ultra with decently good FPS.

Now to the point, is it the PSU that could be holding me down? The recommended wattage on the AMD site stated it to be 750w. and I do believe that my system specs are pretty much good enough.

I'd also like to point out that a friend recently got a Radeon 7950 and claims to run above mentioned games on full settings with no problems. Again so he claims

With stock coolers, the fan on the intel cooler is pulling the air through the heat sink off the CPU and into the case away from it. By putting a fan blowing air down on the CPU, you are pushing the air back onto your cpu thus keeping the hot air hovering around it.

I would suggest swapping to exhaust.

According the the Manufacturer details, you have a standard ATX PSU so as long as you stick with that, you can fit pretty much any inside your machine. It does look like the 300Watt version inside the machine is a bit short compared to normal PSU's, but as long as you still have space, it should fit just fine.

There are more concerns you should look at first, for starters is the socket type the same or do you plan on getting a new CPU along with it. Plus in my book, going from an Asus to a Biostar would be a down grade, why don't you post your specs and we can give you some assistance on upgrading your machine as just swapping boards would not change much if anything.

But to answer your question, Yes the PSU will still work.

Hi, I currently have a Samsung P2450 and I love it (24"/1080p), is there a 1440p upgrade that won't break the bank?

A:Looking for a 1440p monitor upgrade

1440p is pretty hard not to break the bank still but I can offer a few suggestions:

27" QNIX 2560x1440p $349 (This contains a Samsung Panel inside 8ms response time)

27" Crossover 2560x1440p $329 (Has a better response time to the one above 6ms response time)

27" Yamakasi Catleap 2560x1440p $379 (6ms Response, this brand has some of the best reviews)

Name brands like Samsung and Acer cost a lot more, these get good reviews and are just fine for use. They all have decent reviews, yet the Yamakasi's from the newegg site always seems to have the most 5 star reviews and get good feedback. No matter what, your going to be limited in your choices in this area if you can pay a fortune lol. They are still in the Luxury price point range in my book until they hit below 300.

Hope this gives you an idea!

Before you upgrade, tehre is a major issue already with upgrading laptopts. This is the amoun of cooling that they have. The manufacturers will only put jsut enough in the machine in order for it to overheat. I would recommend looking into the heat produced by the two different processors (original and proposed), and also their power usage. The numbers are likely a BIOS versions. A laptop is ultimately not designed to be upgraded as it will be generally custom built. My personal laptop has a dual core 2.2GHz processor by AMD and the fan on this model is only just enough to cool it.

The WiFi signal enters though the antenna... In a laptop the antenna is around the display. In a desktop the antenna is either attached to the WiFi card directly or contained inside a USB WiFi device

Need some expert help and insight on a possible upgrade from my current card. I want a significant increase in fps not just a minor one. I want to feel like the purchase I meant mattered, and wasn't simply to increase my e-peen size.
All of the above considered, I need it in a buy-able range for me. My current price range is anything below or near 200$
Currently considering:

It is cheap and looks like a powerful card. My concern is, will this last or is it just a small increase from what I am running. Keep in mind size shouldn't matter too much for I am running my components in a corsair 200r case, it is pretty room =).

A:GTX 560 vs ? Looking to upgrade

Ok to give you a good example, here is your card vs a 650 ti boost on passmark.

Your Current Card

650 ti Boost

Doing that wont be a significant upgrade honestly, at a 200 dollar price point, your upgrade options will be limited when you start with something like a 560 already.

Here is a couple of suggestions to try.

AMD R9 270X

This is basically an overclocked HD 7870 with some of the new support from AMD software and such. Looking at an HD 7870 on passmark scores, you are looking at a significant increase over your previous gen card.

Honestly, that's going to be the best you can get for 200 dollars, there is not much else in terms of options for cards at a 200 buck price point that would be a step up from a GTX 560.

I'm looking at a HIS Radeon HD 7950 for my computer and I'm curious if it would be the right choice to play new games at high to ultra settings? Suggestions?

A:Gateway FX6800-01E Upgrade

The power supply you have is the bare minimum a 7950 requires. Make sure your case has enough airflow for the GPU and make sure you have 2 six pin PCIe power connectors free on your PSU. I would also recommend upgrading your RAM. A 7950 + i7 920 probably wont be able to play games at MAX, but very close to it (if you have 8GB of DDR3).

Hey Guys! I had a question about my graphics card. Is it possible I can upgrade my computers graphics card? I am hopping to purchase something created by Ge Force but I don't know if my computer could handle it, Or if it would actually allow me to game harder without frame drops and such. If you think my computer can handle it please show me some Graphics cards that I could (should) purchase to get the best results out of my computer. Here are my specs.

--- Operating System ---

Build: 9200 64-bit

--- CPU ---

Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4430 CPU @ 3.00GHz, clocked @ 2.99 GHz

--- Display adapter ---

Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600

Driver version:

--- RAM ---

Usage: 3410/12208 MBytes (12Gb)

Peak Usage: 3993 MBytes

I am also using DirectX 11. The computer is a HP Envy 700. Have any other questions, Please ask.

Hey guys,

I'm needing some information that is extremely hard to come by.

The 740m in the HP Envy 17t-j000, does anyone know, or does anyone know WHERE to look (Google failed me, or I failed Google!) to find out whether it needs ACTIVE displayport -> HDMI adapters?

I question this because I know the 57xx series from ATI required active. The card only supported 1 RAMDAC signal (or something?) and the Nvidia's tech seems different. According to HP support, passive will work fine. I need to have the adapters ordered ASAP, but I do not want to order the incorrect ones.

Any assistance is appreciated.

Might pay to see what AMD's big announcement is on the 25th September. Best case scenario is AMD bite the bullet and opt for a big die to put some pressure on the GTX 780/ Titan, although I'm picking that what they end up with might split the difference between the 7970GE and the GTX 780 performance wise.
Either way, unless it is strictly a PPS presentation, AMD should be announcing some kind of timetable. If that launch is close at hand you could see a nice realignment pricewise if the products look compelling and present sales start to stall out, with the added bonus that AMD would again drop prices to clear inventory.

If you're set on getting a card before then, I'd check the pricing on GTX 670's as well as 760's. You'll get a little more performance with the 670 especially if its an overclocked card (basically a GTX 680 once you hit that cards clock). If not, then the 7950 is, likewise, a solid option in the £180-200 range.
