I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A:finger print sensor for probook 4530s

Hi: The only suggestion I can offer would be to try the one from the Probook 450 G0. This package contains the driver that enables the Synaptics (Validity) Fingerprint Sensor in supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. The fingerprint sensor scans fingerprints for use with biometric security applications.  ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp71501-72000/sp71833.exe

Hi Everyone,

I am currently trying to configure the Finger Print login function on an HP ProBook 4730s. Although I have finger prints registered they do not appear to be working at the login screen (e.g.: when CTRL + ALT + DEL is presented on the screen).

Once Windows 7 (x64) loads and a standard keyboard login is performed I am able to access the HP Protect Tools application that allows me to register finger prints. I am therefore confident that appropriate drivers, and software are installed, however I suspect that one or more requisite software packages is not starting prior to logon.

If anybody has any suggestions regarding how to get finger print login working can you please let me know?

Kind Regards,

Davo

Hello,I am using HP Probook 450 G1. I can not enable my friger print lock in my pc. I have checked in BIOS setting, It is enabled here. and in device manager it's look OK. I installed Validity Fingerprint Sensor Driver(sp66915) and Hp Clint Security(sp65637). It shows me that "Finger print reader is not connected,  Please connect the reader". I also tried HP simplepass(sp63474) in place of HP cient security. But it didn't find the finger print sensor. I went to a customer service provider, the said me, If I enable this service it may harm my systems hardware and aslo it may totally demage the matherboard. I have searched for this solution on the web but, I didn't find any proper solution. Now, I want to khow how can I use finger print system on PC. And, Is there any probability of damage?

A:Finger print reader problem on HP Probook

Well, I can answer one of your questions, enabling the fingerprint reader will not damage your hardware. Think about it, why would the manufacturer put a device which you can't use into the laptop? That 'customer service provider' is either lazy or incompetent or both. Oh and one more thing, this is a user-to-user forum, not Hp's official support channel.

A:Can't login using finger print scanner on HP ProBook

Hello Dave mate try opening msconfig and see what is being loaded on start up. I usually untick everything except the Kaspersky and the HP stuff might be listed there though and make sure the fingerprint item is left in or is in.

Sorry but I am on my 8 laptop at the moment so I cannot send a screenshot to show you what I mean. But the msconfig looks the same as my pic except that Start tab is different with what I have here and lists all the features ticked to load on boot up.

Just as a by the by this is good if you want better performance..

Hi I've edited this post to make users aware the Sandisk Ultra II SSD has issues with the 450 G3 in legacy mode.  It's simply not visible in the boot options under legacy only UEFI.  I have spent hours and hours and it doesn't work on a 240 and 480 gb models I have running the latest firmware.  I've posted messages on the Sandisk forums reporting the very likely bug. I think I'll stick to Samsung which 850 Evo works perfectly!

Is there anyway to change the Icon for the finger print reader? I still want just my usual user picture to show even when I am using the fingerprint reader to log in. Anyone know the location of this icon? Or how to easily change it?

A:Windows 7 finger print icon

I don't have a fingerprint reader or any sort of biometric security, but I have a very good feeling that the icon is in shell32.dll, which would require a bit of semi-advanced tinkering. As for the setting to change the icon, I would guess it's buried somewhere in the registry.

Hi, Open windows Control Panel, open Programs and Features, right click the entry for HP SimplePass and select Uninstall. When this has completed, restart the notebook. When windows has reloaded, download the version of HP SimplePass on the following link and save it to your Downloads folder. http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp71501-72000/sp71729.exe When the download has completed, open your Downloads folder, right click the SimplePass installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation. Again, when this has completed, restart the notebook. When windows has reloaded, open windows Control Panel and in the top right, next to View by: select 'Large Icons'.  From the new layout, select the HP SimplePass entry and see if you can set up your fingerprint log-on. Regards, DP-K

The fingerprint device (also called a Biometric Device) can be used to login to windows without typing the password, among other things.
Fingerprints can be enrolled and only the enrolled fingerprints will be authenticated.

But before it can be used, the drivers for the device should be installed.
It would be better if we could know the model number of the device.

You can get all the hardware details about the laptop using Speccy. Install Speccy, run it and then fill in the details in your System Specs. The more the better.

It looks from the HP driver downloads website... they really want you to install Vista (there are almost no downloads available for XP). So your downgrade will likely be very painful.

Before you downgrade you will need to know your motherboard chipset, wireless, ethernet, graphics, fingerprint reader, sound, etc. manufacturer and model numbers. Then make sure drivers that are not available from HP are available elsewhere. The IDT/Sigmatel audio driver may be especially difficult to find.

I recently downgraded a Gateway laptop and had to get the ATI chipset driver for a MSI laptop (Gateway and ATI didn't have one for XP).

Good luck.

Hi!
I just bought a new USB Flash drive (Apacer 8GB), which features a finger print reader. The reason: I want to store my Outlook / OneNote files on it, so I can use them on different computers in different networks.
Now the problem: On the box it says "Vista 32bit". Unfortunately this was never mentioned on the web, where i bought it.
I started the Fingerverify.exe and it loads, however after loading it just ends itself without showing the verification diaglog.
Does anybody know, if (and) how i can get around this?
I tried to open in XP and even Win98 compatibility mode but it does not help either.
Google does not show anything as well...
Thanks for your help,
Jan

A:Cannot use finger print scanner on my Tecra M10

Hi

On the Toshiba EU driver page you can find the Fingerprint Software and the Fingerprint Uninstaller (This tool is needed to uninstall the fingerprint-reader software)

You need the Fingerprint Software…
…. additionally I recommend you to check this Toshiab docuemtn regarding the usage of Fingerprint:

Hi, You can disable the device as follows. Open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager, open up Biometric Devices, right click the Validity Sensor and select Properties.  Click the Driver tab and then click the Disable button.  Click OK in all open windows and then restart the notebook. Regards, DP-K

Hello All,

I want to know how to get the hardware id of the finger print that we use during log on to Windows desktop. I am working on a module whose interface requires HID as an in param and then it will return SPC.

As I see hardware id is "A unique string derived from a fingerprint of an individual computer. The HID is a unique identifier for the computer from which it is derived."

I want to know how can I get this HID programmatically in my module. Any pointers in this regard would be helpful.

A:To get the hardware Id of the finger print (programmatically)

If you are talking about the Universally Unique ID that each PC manufacturer assigns to a PC, enter this at a command prompt to read it:

Code:
wmic csproduct get UUID
You can also use a WMI script to get this, but I couldn't tell you how.

A:Finger Print Reader Does Not Work

Hey! Did you uninstall the fingerprint driver in the Device Manager before? To use the download that I am providing you with, you will have to uninstall the driver again. Open Device ManagerLook for Biometric DevicesUnder Biometric Devices, look for the device (called Validity Sensor or AuthenTec Sensor)Right click on the Fingerprint Sensor Click UninstallRestart your Notebook.  Here is a download for the Fingerprint scanner. This download sp71729.exe might work for you.  As a very last resort, you could try: The steps provided as a solution in the Validity fingerprint scanner not working on Windows 10 thread. Uninstalling HP SimplePass completely,Thanks for being a part of the HP community. I've had this for a while, and just decided to install the software portion for the fingerprint reader......DigitalPersona Password Manager 1.0.

Now, upon restart, I get a log in screen with my user name for XP Pro, and a blank password.

I ASSUMED that my Windows logon password would work, but WRONG AGAIN

I cannot get past this stupid log in screen

I can start in safemode, and I removed my Windows logon password ASSUMING that would fix it, but WRONG AGAIN

In safe mode, I can't uninstall the program. For some silly reason, I have no system restore points A format and reinstall is not out of the question, but, I'd like to see if anyone has any ideas rather than the very large hammer sitting on my desk

I was just wondering does the reader lite up? From new I have not been abel to get this to work. I have uninstalled reinstalled and updated the drivers, I have even gone in to the bios looking. I read the trouble guides about running PC doctor but I can not find any thing in there to test the finger reader. I have even checked the flat ribbon cable to make sure it was clean and seated good. Mine does not lite up at all. This would be a very nice feature for my son who is blind. Any suggestions. Thanks in advance.

A:Z61M finger print reader has never worked

Biometrics isn't for everyone, and I'm uniquely qualified to say the Authentec readers included with Thinkpads are the best fingerprint scanners available to the general public. It is an electrostatic reader that doesn't rely on optics or lighting (I get the impression you'd like to see either a skin light for ornamentation and a backlight such as the cheap scanners I'm going to describe in the next paragraph....and you'll never find either on an Thinkpad. The Authentec scanner is the most tolerant of dirt and resins every finger picks while still delivering an accurate reading and maintaining real security. Those light up scanners you're describing are the easiset to thwart and can be spoofed with a mini mag light and amber filter especially if you can tailgate the last person  within 90 seconds of their successful logn. Early fingerprint readers used backlighting just like a mini photocopier to read fingerprints and they're horrible, the lamps dim, their reader platens scratch with usage but that cool red light sells a sense of security. Even modern biometric door sensors have red lights but many don't even require it since they use the same brand of scanners from Authentec found inside Thinkpads and the red light is just for ornament, night lites and those obsessed with Cylon Model 6 that it shapes every part of their life, red car and red undies. You should ensure it is enabled in the BIOS and set your BIOS to default /F10shutdown, let it power off for  some secsreturn and look for the B&W fingerprint menu or a error and simple beep warning the sensor isn't found. Forget the PCDoctor diags since they'll just advise if it is connected and readable or missing and malfucnmoitnign. Borking around the bios settings can throw the sensor into a conflict when in some instances our users have tried to enable the nonexistant paralletl  port and activated Infrared while activating and dinking up the COM port which the 60's use to assign to the biometric sensor and just f10 to the bios is enough to eliminate those little conflicts. Since the system allows 3 failed swipes b4 reboot, a blind person's heightened tactile senses won't have any problems and likely hit it  the first time every time. Useful fingerprint reader tips when enrolling and logging on: 1. During enrollment, you can mix and match your angles since the user and fingers are stored as an average, so a right thumb doens't have to be enrolled as five perfectly straight swipes, and if you are accustomed to logging on while standing and sitting,  than enroll two prints while standing and three while sitting or versa, it makes a big difference. 2. Your finger is a roller skate,  not a rocking chair....to many users become frustrated with repated failed logons because corporate users are typically enrolled witht he assistance of an IT pro but fail to adequately swipe the platen used to capture prints.  At close obsersance, most people barely succeed to logon since they baRELY SKIM THE FIRST HALF OF THE PLATEN WHEN YOU SHOULD BE MOVING YOUR FINGERPRINT THROUGH THE SENSOR THE WAY A ROLLER SKATER KICKS THEIR FEET ACROSS THE FLOOR. Too many users get by or get angry when they're just rubbing upwards across the top half of the sensor, this phenomenom occurs more frequently to women and espeically younger and elderly women since younger womens fingers are still reaching maximum size but smaller fingers are harder to capture at the same speed as a mans fat thumb. Ladies have better and more frequently lognosn on the first try if they scrape their finger across the sensor at a slower pace but not so slow it stands still since a steady finger wil ruin the logon. 3. Keep a backup fingter, the old joke is "cut off their finger and steal an ID, that is stupid on more levels than can be described but a good idea is setup a trusted person as a backup / emergency logon account and reserving your ring fin... Hi there, I'm pissed with my new X1 yoga Model 20FQCTO1WW. Fresh configured, update all latest drivers. After configured Windows Hello with fingerprints, it will work only for awhile until the computer lid was closed or into sleep mode. The fingerprint reader can be detected 1~2 times out of 10 cold boot. The symptom is, when open the lid, Windows Hello ask for scan the finger but the fingerprint reader only flash a red light then becomes irresponsive. I have to shutdown the computer completely. Sometimes the fingerprint sensor might back to work.  Finally I restore factory default, re config windows, hello, update drivers etc. The problem still the same. I do not believe it is hardware problem, any recommendation will be appreicated. Thanks, siukeung

Hi, Both are optionals that means your machine may have and may not have: 1. You can check it under Device Manager under Biometric Devices, its name is "Validiti Sensors" (or similar). If it's there, you can start Simple Pass to use it (Click Start > All Progranms > HP > Simple Pass).2. The SIM only won't work, you need a WWAN card with an contract or similar and looks like this option is not on your machine. Regards.

Hello The thread title basically says it all Inherited a laptop from an acquaintance no longer in contact with and the system boots up Scanner - Finger Bypass? HP Pavilion DV7 Print to the Win home premium logon screen asking for HP Pavilion DV7 - Finger Print Scanner Bypass? finger print identification Needless to say it won't accept my print There is only HP Pavilion DV7 - Finger Print Scanner Bypass? the primary user or the finger print utility to select Things I've tried thus far - Disable finger print identification in system BIOS - No options even present - Various Windows Password Reset Utilities - Ophcrack reports quot no password present quot for the target user which I assume means the fingerprint is acting as the password somehow - Using Windows Recovery Console I tried activating the Administrator account - this didn't seem to work using the CMD prompt but I want to try it again I may not have had the proper directory selected - Safe mode brings up the same logon screen - Brought up the HP finger print utility from the logon screen and tried to register my print but it requires the appropriate Windows password which the various reset utilities are reporting as non-existent Now obviously I could wipe and reinstall Win HP but I wanted to see if there was a way around this I've been researching some on my own but haven't read of any sure-fire methods What I did read is how only having biometric security with no recourse or back-up is a bad idea And now I know why LOL Any other suggestions are welcomed I'll continue searching on my own as well Thanks in advance

Hello, Welcome to the HP Support forum. Thank you for posting! I checked and your computer does not officially support Windows 10. Your computer was created long before Windows 10 was ever released. Nobody from HP knew about the existence of Win 10 when the machine was created and since it is an old model, no drivers have been released. Based on the information here, HP hasn't officially released drivers for Windows 10. Officially HP only supports XP, Vista, Windows 7 and 8 on this computer.   If you run unsupported OS, some functions may not function at all or not function well. Therefore, if you want to use the Fingerprint login, it is highly recommended that you reimage the machine (reinstall Windows) with older version such as Win 7/8. Actually, Protect tools is old version. Latest version of the same software is called HP Client Security Manager.I am afraid HP Protect tools and HP Client security Manager are not compatible with Windows 10, not officially. Based on the information >here<, officially supported are Win 7 and Win 8.HP Client Security Manager (Protect tools) is just the "control center" of many other apps.  If my post helped you, please use the button to mark it as an accepted solution. Do not hesitate to post again if something is not clear.

Had an interesting problem occur My boss s computer has been doing AVAST finger protected print folders blocking strange things of late She uses a beautiful Sony Vaio One of the features is a finger print scanner It then has a safe folder that must be opend using her finger print Cool Anyway for the last week or so she has been moaning that her comp is AVAST blocking finger print protected folders not responding etc She uses AVG antivirus which is pretty good but lately has developed norton like qualities in that it takes longer to update and steals more and more resources Anyway one of her issues has been that AVG won t update So I uninstalled AVG and installed AVAST All legal in terms of user rights as this is her personal computer so a private licence is fine AVAST blocking finger print protected folders Anyway since doing this AVAST is quot AVAST blocking finger print protected folders locking quot her out of the safe She loves this thing and stores everything in it from bank records to happy birthday cards So it is a bit of a problem Anyway after reading the error message that comes up when she tries to open the safe I divined that AVAST must be the problem I stoped AVAST and thank goodness access was granted to the safe Now my question Why is this happening I have considered the possibility that one of the files in the safe is infected which is why AVAST is being difficult But not sure how to solve the problem as I can t run AVAST with the safe folder open I am also a little concerned as I have noticed a strange file called RAVmon log appearing on some of the network computers I have run a variety of virus search tools and as yet no viruses on the network have been detected Anyway maybe someone has an answer nbsp

You first require the Fingerprint hardware and the software will come with it...
Hope this helps...

The finger print reader stoped working after I upgraded from Windows 7 to windows 10. After reading other posts and installing latest version of Simple pass and the driver 4.5.133.0 for the validity sensor VFS491 it does not show up in in Simple pass or windows account settings under sign in options. Device manager says it's working OK.  Any ideas?

Please look here for instructions on how to use your fingerprint reader with Windows Hello.  If Windows Hello doesn't detect the finger print reader please reply here with the model of your notebook.  I can't promise anything here but I won't hurt to see if there isn't drivers are utilities that you can download that will work.

My laptop has a finger print reader. Quite often this fails to recognize me. How can I increase the number of attempts that I am allowed?

Also why does 'Hello' get mentioned in the error message? Is there a facial recognition facility?

A:Finger print reader - Increase number of attempts for W10 logon?

Hello machare,

As you maybe aware the fingerprint recognition is part of the Windows Hello sign in options. You can remove and add fingerprints using the Account Settings page as shown below. You may need to redo your fingerprint for better recognition. I am not aware that you can reset the number of tries but you can add multiple fingerprints.

A:Portege R700 Finger Print Reader suddenly not recognised from OS

If you don't see the fingerprint hardware or unresolved devices in Device Manager then the device is either disabled in the BIOS or the fingerprint sensor is faulty or loose, or there was a liquid spill causing corrosion.

I installed HP Protecttool but it doesnt let me enroll finger prints as the option isnt Available please help. The Biometric drivers are installed perfectly though.

A:HP Protect tool doesn't show Finger print Credential.

Hp ProtectTools are old software and no longer supported Windows 10. If your are upgrade from Win7 to Win10 then you should install latest fingerprint driver. Windows 10 should integrated biometric application (Windows Hello).

I am an HP employee.

So my fingerprint reader just stopped working out of no where.  The light doesn't blink and the software does not recognized it at all when i swipe my finger.  I went to the device manager to disable/enable the driver, which has worked in the past when my finger print reader stopped working.  But now the device is gone and I cannot seem to get the driver back and I don't know where to download a new one from. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hello,

I messed up with my HP tools, when I was trying to install the finger print scanner (tried simple pass and my identity) on my HP 4530s probook (windows 7).

1. Now, I can't use the "quick web" button to open my default browser..
2. I uninstalled the hp connection manager as I was getting an QLB Controller failed error. I am trying to install it again, but after it installs I can't launch as it says "can't load assembly".

3. I can't uninstall the HP Protect tools (they are partially uninstalled, I can't use them), but in the end I get an 1722.

Please help me, I don't know what went wrong. But the problem started when I tried to install the simple pass or My Identity, then tried to uninstall them as they didn't work..

I'll appreciate your help,

thank you
