Error Code 0x80070003 Windows Update WILL NOT Update

Q: Error Code 0x80070003 Windows Update WILL NOT Update

After buying a new hard drive and reimaging thumb drive from Dell, I installed Windows 7 Ultimate on a Dell M6400 Precision Laptop. I have everything working except Windows Update will not Update. It has not updated once since the install. Windows Tech
support has not been able to resolve the issue, even with remote assistance. I get the Error Code 0x80070003 after running the Windows Update Diagnostic Tool. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I get a BSOD whenever I attempt to run Windows Update.
I have attached the DM Log Collector file.

If a run Windows Update Troubleshooter I get "Windows update error 0x80070003 not fixed".

I have run BlueScreenView which states:
Page_Fault_In_Nonpaged_Area
Bug Check Code 0x00000050
Caused by Driver/Address ntoskrnl.exe+748c0

I have run Memtest86 overnight and chkdsk - no errors showing.

This has been happening for about a week but only when I run Windows Updates. When I recover using a backup System Image there are no further crashes. In the interim I have switched off automatic Windows Updates.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Good day,       windows update is unable to connect to the net. I use windows update diagnostic and I received the message of error "windows update-error 0x80070003". I tried everything without result, after consulting forums and microsoft official pages. To be honest, before the error was 0x80080005. I tried all possible stuff, without result. So I re-installed windows 7. And now I received this notification. What can I do? Thanks for your help. Best,                                                                            davide

Hello,

I recieve error C80003FA whenever I do a Windows Update run. It doesn't get past the stage of checking for updates.

I've tried several fixes including:
- Waiting 15 minutes and running Windows Update again.
- Letting Windows Update run on its own schedule.
- SFC /Scannow
- Renaming the Catroot2 Folder.
- Running 3 different Fixit tools.
- Clean windows install.

After each and every one of those fixes I've tried windows update and I still get error C80003FA.

SFC Scannow has previously said no errors, but the last run through it said there were unfixable errors. I've got the log, though for brevity's sake I will keep it until someone asks for it.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Clean windows install doesn't fix it? You must be blocked, maybe your firewall???

Hey all,

So I am currently reinstalling Windows on my dad's old laptop after the hard drive decided up die on us, and I stumbled on a problem that's a bit too hard for me to fix.

Namely, I am completely unable to install any Windows Update. Not even MSE will install.

I tried running SURT, but got error code 0x8000247
I also tried running SFC /SCANNOW, it ran the verification fase until 98% and then stated that there where unfixable problems.

The displayed error codes are:
In WU: "8024A000"
In SURT: "0x8000247"
Whilst installing MSE: "0x80070643".

Attached you will find CBS.log and MSINFO with my system specs.
Cheers and many thanks in advance,
Nommy

That's very reminiscent of similar errors in Win7 - and I wouldn't be surprised to see it being non-genuine.
Please post an MGADiag report BEFORE doing the below potential fixes.

This may simply be caused by a bad set of Intel Storage Matrix Technology drivers -

Installing the Intel Drivers
try downloading and installing them from here -
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Det...&DwnldID=17882

(IATA89ENU.exe)

Once complete, please reboot twice, then post another MGADiag report.

If nothing has changed, try this...

Please run the following commands in an Elevated Command Prompt

NET STOP CRYPTSVC
REN C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CATROOT2 CATROOT2OLD
NET START CRYPTSVC

once complete, leave the system alone for at least an hour to rebuild the database, then reboot, and run another MGADiag report and post the results.

If neither of them work, we'll re-evaluate.

Hello,
First, excuse my english, I'm trying my best.

I get error C80003FA whenever I do a Windows Update run.

I did the Windows Update Posting instructions. When I did the SURT installation, it didn't finish and I had to reboot the PC. Then it work.

I've tried sfc /scannow several times before with different results: sometimes finished with no errors, sometimes finish with unfixable errors and sometimes didn't finish at all.

I uploaded the CBS.zip

Hope you can help me, thanks.

Please also post the event logs...

Open Event Viewer
click on the Windows logs entry in the left pane to expand it.
Now click on the Application entry - wait while it loads.
Click on 'File' in the menu bar and select Save...

Save the file as Appevt.evtx

Repeat for the System log

then zip both, and upload them.

I didn't see any posts about this, so I hope I am not double posting.

After removing a drive load of viruses, I am still not able to update Windows Vista to Service Pack 1. I have even tried to create a new admin user account in hopes that this would work, but no go. I tried running sfc.exe / scannow from the CMD and it did report that it was unable to repair wextract.exe. Also, the file reportingevents.txt located in %system root%\windows\softwaredistribution\reportingevents.txt lists "Windows Update Client failed to detect with error 0x80070490".
Although, I think Windows Defender can update. I need to take a break.

I'm having no luck installing KB2977629 (Cumulative Security Update IE11). I repeatedly get the error 8007371B.

SURT installs with no errors. SFC /SCANNOW runs with no errors. I am uploading the requested screenshots and ZIP file.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you!!!!

PS- well, I WAS uploading. My screencaptures upload great, but my CBS.zip fails with "Server error 500".
My zip file is 9.6mb-- over the 8mb limit. What can I delete from the directory to get under the 8mb limit?

I'm trying to do a clean install of Win 8.1 Home on a laptop with a inoperative version of Win7 Home.
Three times I've tried and three times, at various stages, I get the error message:

Windows cannot install required files. The file does not exist. Make sure all files required are available,
and restart the installation. Error code: 0x80070003.

What next?

Where/how did you get the install media? Sure sounds like bad media.

Are you trying to install 32 or 64 bit? If 64 bit does your hardware meet the requirements?

Here's my story:

My sister's PC had been corrupted in lots of unnecessary programs and apps.
I deleted those craps. Windows Action Center then prompts me to update my windows, and I did.
PC restarted and POOF!!!, I am seem to be forever stuck in the Startup Repair Loop.
So I tried System Restore, but it's giving me the error code stated above (error 0x80070003).
I also tried System Image Recovery, and it's not also of help. Also, checking Hardware Options didn't help.
Lastly, I tried the Command Prompt option and it gives me nothing.

So how can I possible fix this error? ((

thanks in advance for those helpful respondents ))

If thefile is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files untilthe final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately afterzipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for anumber of reasons)

Hello all I am scouring the internet for answers but I can't seem to find any so I thought I should ask the Gurus down at the Windows Vista Forums. Anyways I am trying to install the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update (KB951847) x86 and all I get is this error. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

A:Windows Update Error Code 643

Hello Peacemaker,

When you try to install an update for the .NET Framework 1.0, 1.1, 2.0, 3.0, or 3.5, you may receive Windows Update error code "0x643" or Windows Installer error code "1603"

RESOLUTION

To successfully install the update, uninstall all the versions of the .NET Framework on the computer, and then reinstall all the versions of the .NET Framework on the computer. You may have to work through more than one of the following methods.

Method 1: Manually remove and reinstall .NET Framework
To manually remove and reinstall the .NET Framework, follow these steps:

1. Remove the .NET Framework.
1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2. Double-click Add or Remove Programs.
3. Note each version of the .NET Framework that is already installed on the computer. Then, uninstall all the versions of the .NET Framework.
4. When you are prompted, restart the computer.
Method 2. Use the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility to clean up the MSI database state for all the versions of the .NET Framework.

1. Download the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility. The following file is available for download from the Microsoft Download Center: http://download.microsoft.com/download/e/9/d/e9d80355-7ab4-45b8-80e8-983a48d5e1bd/msicuu2.exe
2. Install the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility as an administrator or as a user account that is a member of the local Administrators group.
3. Click Start, point to All Programs, and then click Windows Install Cleanup.
4. In the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility, remove all Windows Installer applications for the .NET Framework.
3. Restart the computer.
Download and then reinstall all the versions of the .NET Framework that were previously installed on the computer.

Hi -

The first thing I would suggest that you try is removing PC-cillin Internet Security as its firewall can interfere with Windows Updates.

Trend Micro removal --> http://esupport.trendmicro.com/1/How...n-my-comp.aspx

Reboot upon completion.

Install MSE --> http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/

Try Windows Updates --> www.update.microsoft.com

Windows 7 Professional Service Pack 1

I have been trying unsuccessfully to do all of the helps to get Windows Update to check for updates and install. I tried all of the Fixit and Windows Update Troubleshooter batch files, etc. I thought I was making headway this morning when it said updates would install on the next shutdown. So I shutdown. Looks like 57 updates had a failed status. When I ran the check for updates again, I get the following error code:
C80003FA

I googled and really only found the same help items I have already tried, the fixit's etc.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

We know nothing about your computer, other than it's running Windows 7 Professional SP1, so do the following in it.
Download and save the TSG System Information Utility (SysInfo.exe) to the desktop.
After it's been downloaded and saved, double-click it to run it.
Information about your computer will appear.
Return here to your thread, then copy-and-paste the ENTIRE text here.

Hello,

Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 with Windows Updates set to download but no install yet, since many tools start at startup.
However our friends decided to install Windows Update Agent 7.6.7600.320 without asking.
This caused a full hang of the system, including frozen mousepointer.
Hardreset made it come back and it booted up.
But Windows Update now needs to install this update which fails with error code 800F0900.
Found kb2887535 for manual install, which failed with error 800b0100.
Found kb947821 and ran it. Last %SYSTEMROOT%\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log attached.

sfc /scannow reports Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.
WUC code 800F0900

Your CBS data is very old- the latest date in the log file is 18 May!!

Open Event Viewer

click on theWindows logs entry in the left pane to expand it.

Now click on theApplication entry - wait while it loads.

Click on 'File'in the menu bar and select Save...

Save the file asAppevt.evtx

Repeat for theSystem log

then zip both,and upload them.

I did a search for your error number at Microsoft Knowledge Base
http://support.microsoft.com/search/?adv=1
The next link give a list of error codes and your is on it.
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/How-to-get-support-for-Windows-Update-problems
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You go their and read. I've listed part of what it says below.
Copy and Paste.

Windows Update error 80070003

If you receive Windows Update error 80070003 while checking for updates, you need to remove the temporary files that Windows uses to identify updates for your computer. To remove the temporary files, stop the Windows Update service, delete the temporary update files, restart the Windows Update service, and then try to check for Windows updates again.

Windows provides a built-in troubleshooter that can automatically find and fix some common problems with Windows Update.

•Open the Windows Update troubleshooter by clicking the Start button , and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type troubleshooter, and then click Troubleshooting. Under System and Security, click Fix problems with Windows Update
================================================
I will add some to the directions. When you go to the Control Panel - Right top -
type T or troubleshooter - at the top of the list in green print - click Troubleshooting -
System and Security - Fix problems with Windows Updatges.

Gives us your reply for how your problem is fixed.

I have had quite a lot of problems trying to get Windows Update to work. I first noticed it when I couldn't get Windows Defender to update and realized that Windows Update didn't work. I've tried a number of recommended actions (Windows Update Troubleshooter, Reset_Reregister_Windows_Update_Components.bat), but nothing seems to be clearing up the problem. Does anyone have any ideas?

1) KB3079777
2) KB3061512
3) KB3035583
4) KB3038936
5) KB3013769

However I'm receiving Error code 800703F1, I'm however able to install other updates, only these updates are troubling me. I wouldn't taken much attention to the above but since  'KB3035583' is an important update to upgrade to Windows 10, I need this
to be fixed. I've tried to running the windows update troubleshooter, but it doesn't seem to resolve these issues permanently i.e if I run the troubleshooter again it will appear to resolve these issues again:
1) Service Registration is missing or corrupt
2) Windows Update error 0x80070057 (2015-08-17-T-09_47_50A)
3) Problems installing recent updates

Hello, I have been unable to download/install any updates for Windows 7 (gives Error Code 800B0100) via Windows update and had to install them through the web manually. I have installed the System Update Readiness Tool but it does not seem to solve the problem. Currently, I have KB982670, KB982664, and KB979099 waiting to be downloaded. Can someone kindly assist me to solve this problem?

If, and only if, this is negative, then disable your firewall and AV software and try again. After updating, then turn back on your AV & firewall software.

Some third-party anti-virus/firewall software are problematic.

The background CBS.log data, however is a nightmare

The really strange thing is that I can find no evidence that an SFC scan has been run in the past 4 months!
This is possibly because of the other corruption present.

Some of the errors I'm seeing in the CBS log make me think that you are likely to be having RAM problems.

Please follow the instructions in this tutorial, and post the results.

I keep getting this code when I attempt to search for new updates see attached. I downloaded the SURT and it installed Hotfix for Windows (KB947821) Successfully. A tech with microsoft had me run the stand alone updater and everytime Windows tries to install the updates most all of them fail. See attached screen shot. I ran the SFC/scannow and it did not find any integrity violations. The compressed CBS file (22.5 MB) exceeded the Max FIlesize of 8 MB so I was unable to attach to this post.

Please let me know what to try next.

Thank You

I broke the CBS file into three files but the zipped cbs log still excedes the allowed file size. I also only zipped the most recent CBS Persist file. WHen I shut down my PC it says it is installing 144 updates but then fails to configure them and reverts.

You have a number of problems in the registry - as far as I can see at present, there are no file problems.

Please copy the file C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS (no file extension) to your desktop, and then compress it.
Then upload the compressed file to your favoured fileshare site (SkyDrive or Dropbox would be fine) and post a link.

Either myself or Tom982 will then pick it up, and see what we can do with it.

My antivirus software recently began detecting all kinds of infections, and windows defender has also been giving me alerts so after attempting to disinfect the files i went to windows update and realized that it hasnt been updated since late April. I tried to update it then and it gave me error code 80072ee2 and would not allow me to update. also my antivirus software will not update either. I'm not quite sure what to do at this point but any help would be appreciated. thank you.

Any suggestions gratefully accepted!

Win+R - rstrui - OK and roll back.

If it doesn't help:

1. Make sure you copy-paste the command:

Code:
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

See DISM - Fixing Component Store Corruption in Windows 8

2. SFC /SCANNOW Command - Run in Windows 8 (option two)

3. Run WU Troubleshooter

If the problem is still not solved, copy-paste the troubleshooter results and attach

Ok every time I go to try and update it wont let me and I get the error code 80050005 as shown in one of my attachments.

Now I tried doing the sfc /scannow but its says "windows resource protection could not start the repair service."

I have also noticed in my registry when you go to "HKEY_LOCAL-MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows" there is no windows update option.

I have included the CBS thingy along with 2 screenshots.

Hello shlackinfrackin and welcome to the forums

Open your start menu, and in the search box type regedit, when the results load, right click on regedit and select Run as administrator. From regedit, I would like you to navigate to the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing

Right click on the Component Based Servicing key and select Permissions. Click Advanced, then select the Owner tab. On this list, click on your username (e.g. Mine is displayed as Tom (Tom-PC\Tom)) to select it, tick the box labelled Replace owner on subcontainers and objects then click Apply then OK.

Now, in this first permissions window, you should see a few entries in the Group or user names: box. Click on Administrators once to select it, then check that the Full Control (Allow) box is ticked, if it isn't then tick it. Then repeat this check for TrustedInstaller. Then click OK, and close regedit.

Then reboot, run the System Update Readiness Tool (SURT), and upload the CheckSUR.persist.log please!

A:Windows update - error code 8007010B

I'll tell you that registry cleaners aren't recommended around here simply because they can harm your computer by cleaning the wrong thing if you don't know what you are doing. I'd stay away from them if I were you. I can't be sure about this, but I'll tell you that ZoneAlarm's reputation's gone down in the past few months. Some of the things they've done are appalling. And one thing to check is the error you got regarding Windows Resource Protection. WRP is the mechanism Windows uses to protect its crucial files so that users cannot touch them. I don't think WUA uses WRP at all, but I'll look into it for you. And another thing to check for is to ensure that you are connected to the internet when you check for updates. If not, then you'll get an error for WUA's lack of access to the Microsoft site will cause downloads to fail.

Hello to all. This is my first thread here in SevenForums. I have three updates that aren't installing. All of them report to as error code 80073712

PS don't suggest anything like repair install or a reinstall of Windows. This PC doesn't belong to me.

System Restore is turned off and no restore points are available for storage reasons.

Thanks to all who will help!

Attached: CBS.log and the photo of the three updates.

FYI if anyone else encounters this problem, try the following:

1. Turn off Windows Updates and disable the 'Windows Update' service.

2. Delete everything under the following folders;

C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download
C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore

3. Download this Microsoft fixit from their site. Launch and select the
Aggressive option.

4. When prompted, restart Windows.

5. Enable Windows Updates and it should successfully download and install the failed updates.

Note: Prior to this, I had tried the System Update Readiness Tool for Windows 7 (KB947821) [May 2013], but it didn't work.

As an alternative, you could perhaps skip Step 3, restart after Step 2 and proceed with Step 4.

Some may have other solutions that have helped them, it'll be good to read to assist others.

Hope this helps.

here is a zip of my CBS dir

I'm not positive but I think there is some corruption in my HKLM\COMPONENTS

I have run Chkdsk /r /f and did not get any bad sectors

Thanks for any help.

I should warn you that my track record n fixing this type of error is not good (yet!) - mostly because its rare.
Having said that, it does look like there is corruption in your registry.

I need to have a look at your COMPONENTS registry hive

Please copy the C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS file (no extension) to your desktop and then compress it - upload the compressed file to your favoured fileshare site (preferably Dropbox or OneDrive) and post a link.

KB 2837515
Windows Update fails with error 0x80243004 or 80243004

We are getting an error referencing the above KB article on several of our client machines and I am looking for the right GPO to modify to show the Windows Update notification icon.  The resolution references the manual client fix, which works,
but because this is happening on so many machines, I believe the correct solution is to resolve this via GPO.

The one GPO that looks like it has a remote possibility of affecting us like so is...
User Config > Admin Templates > Start Menu and Taskbar > Turn off notification area cleanup

Ideas?

TIA

A:Windows Update Error code:80070490

Hello Gamer,

To resolve this issue, you must perform a repair installation of Windows Vista. Performing a repair installation will restore the current Windows installation to the version of the installation DVD. This also requires the installation of all updates that are not included on the installation DVD.

Follow these steps:

1. Close all applications, and then restart the computer.
2. Insert the Windows Vista DVD in the computer's DVD drive.
3. In the Setup window, click Install Now.

Note If Windows does not automatically detect the DVD, follow these steps:
1. Click Start
Collapse this imageExpand this image
Start button
, and then type Drive:\setup.exe in the Start Search box.

Note The Drive placeholder is the drive letter of the computer's DVD drive.
2. In the Programs list, click Setup.exe.
3. In the Setup window, click Install Now.
4. Click Go online to obtain the latest updates for installation (recommended).
5. Type the CD key if you are prompted to do this.
6. Click Yes to accept the Microsoft Software License Terms.
7. On the Which kind of installation do you want? screen, click Upgrade.
8. When the installation is complete, restart your computer, and then try to install the updates.

Read more on this here: You receive a "0x80070490" error code when you use Windows Update or Microsoft Update Web sites to install updates
Hope this will help you.

Cheers...

Windows update has not worked for me since July of 2012. I have tried to repair the installation via upgrade from the install disk with no success. I have since run the SURT and tried to run SFC with the following error: windows resource protection could not perform the requested operation.

The OS is Windows 7 Ultimate X64. The windows update issue prevents me from installing SP1, IE 9/IE 10, and some other SW as well.

Hello nolimitkemet and welcome to the forums

101 errors to fix - this could take a while! You've got quite a lot of registry corruption which isn't helping matters so let's fix that all up and see where it leaves us.

Upload a file to Dropbox

Note: If you prefer, the same techniques can be applied to your Skydrive however these instructions may not necessarily work for Skydrive.

If you haven't already created a Dropbox account, please do so Here
Although this procedure can be done directly through the website, it is much easier to do so via the Windows client which can be downloaded from the Dropbox website:

https://www.dropbox.com/install
After you have downloaded and installed that, you should now see Dropbox in your Favourites box in Windows Explorer. This is the folder that will be synchronised with the Dropbox servers, anything that you wish to back up online can be put in here, but today we will be using it to transfer files.

To access your Dropbox folder, just click on the link in the top left hand corner of Windows Explorer (accessible from any location - Documents etc.). Alternatively, you can double click on the icon found in your system tray (next to the time). If you are still having issues locating this folder, unless otherwise specified, it can be found under this location: C:\Users\{Your username}\Dropbox
Copy all of the following files to the Public folder in your Dropbox:

C:\Windows\system32\config\COMPONENTS (it has no file extension)

Select all files by pressing Ctrl+A then right-click and select Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder
This will create a .zip file in your Public folder.
Right-click on this file and select Dropbox > Copy Public Link then Paste (Ctrl + V) this link into your next post for me please
Tom

Are you getting Code 8024402F when you try to download? I get that still when I manually check for updates sometimes, but after a few tries it catches. You can also go here to microsoft support and try the windows automated update troubleshooter. Also try here too. If they don't help open notepad and copy and paste thisCode:

kb923100 gives a link in method1 that offers a "fix it for me". have you tried that yet? (direct link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971187 )

then try method 2 (run uninstaller then reinstall components) noting that you need to install them in the order listed as altering the order may cause conflicts.

an aversion to manual regedit is very much ok ;)

Hey guys I have a problem when looking for updates in Windows VIsta Home Premium.
I freshly reinstalled Vista after getting some weird errors and not starting up last time so I had to use the Vista recovery disk. I promptly tried to check for updates in Windows Update but it gave me the error code "C0150004". It suggested to get Fix It but it wouldn't install PowerShell so I couldn't use that.

Please Help me with my problem!
Thanks

A:Windows Update Error Code "C0150004"

I would suggest the following steps after which you can try to install the Windows Updates.

1) Empty the software distribution folder

1. Click Start, type services.msc in the Start Search box, right-click services.msc, and then click Run as administrator.

2. In the Services (Local) pane, right-click Automatic Updates, and then click Stop.

3. Minimize the Services (local) window.

4. Select all the contents of the Windows distribution folder, and then delete them.

Note : By default, the Windows distribution folder is located in the drive :\Windows\SoftwareDistribution folder. In this location, drive is a placeholder for the drive where Windows is installed. Example "C:\windows\softwaredistribution"

5. Make sure that the Windows distribution folder is empty, and then maximize the Services (local) window.

6. In the Services (Local) pane, right-click Automatic Updates, and then click Start.

7. Restart the computer, and then run Windows Update again.

Hello,

So a while ago my computer got that error and i literally tried everything i can to fix it, and failed. I now realize the reason i get an error is because a while ago i deleted my ProductId from the registry for a reason, and exported it but now i cant seem to find, i must have deleted it by accident. But now i literally how no idea if im able to recover it somehow, or recreate it. I would really appreciate if im able to recreate it somehow!

it was in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion

remember theres ProductID and ProductId, i have ProductID which is located in

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\Products\00002119F20000000000000000F01FEC\InstallProperties

but i need ProductId, which is located only in \CurrentVersion

I need help. I just installed Windows 7 Professional on my old PC. It is a clean install. After successfully installed this OS, the major problem that I had encountered is that I cant install updates on my PC. My PC has never been updated because of this problem. Once I click Check updates, a message shows that there is an error occurred while checking updates for my computer. It cant check for updates and the error code is 800B0100. I already followed the steps written on this site http://support.microsoft.com/kb/956702 . I already Run the Windows Update Troubleshooter and run the System Update Readiness Tool. but the problem is still there. My PC cant still check for new updates. I hope somebody here can help me. thank you

Hello TSF,

I'm working on a new in box Dell PC that came with Windows 7 (64bit) Professional. After setting up the PC, copying user data and software, we attempted to update windows.

Everything was updating perfectly until we tried to update SP1 (KB976932) and Security Update (KB2425227). Trying to install either updaet will produce error code 800F0818.

I have tried downloading the updates directly to the desktop and installing my self but no luck (same error code).

Any suggestions?

I can't check for updates for some reason. The thing is, I think this may be part of a larger issue with connectivity. I'm also having connection issues with gmail and youtube as well. In Gmail, sometimes things don't load after I click on them, and I can't attach files to e-mails. Another forum I like to go to loads very slowly on firefox and won't load at all on IE 11. My internet appears to be fine as most sites aren't giving me trouble that I know of. Are they all connected?

I did do a windows update last week and installed a bunch of security updates and everything seemed fine then. So, what's going on? I can't attach the CBS folder, as it is way too big. It is 285 MB. Is that normal?

I ran SURT and it installed hotfix KB947821 and it didn't fix anything. I then ran sfc /verifyonly and it said there were no violations.

Hi Canuck or Die & welcome to sevenforums.

Probably some corrupt/missing files/folders

CBS folder can be large don't need entire folder
