2007 Outlook prompts for password after yahoo change password

Q: 2007 Outlook prompts for password after yahoo change password

Hello,
I just changed my Yahoo email password, and signed in via IE and works fine.
Then I went into my Outlook 2007 Yahoo email account and changed the password.
However when I try to send/receive email from outlook on the Yahoo account it pops up requesting the password.
I have removed the account and set it up again but problem is the same.
Any ideas please?
Many thanks imk

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Our Windows 7 users are prompted when their passwords will expire in 14 Days, however They are not forced to change thier password before it expires. If the users ignore the expiration warning they can only get logged into the network after having the helpdesk
reset thier password.
Is there a way to force Windows 7 users to change thier passwords on the day it expires. Our WinXP users get the 14 day warning and are forced to change thier passwords on day 14.
I have the GPO configured to notifiy users when thier passwords will expire in 14 days
Thank you,
Glen

A:Windows 7 Expired Password - Recvd Warning prompts but not forced to change password

Hi,

After applying above settings, the user can change the password by default at the expire day. Please create a new domain profile and test the issue on several Windows
7 machines. Can the user be enforced to change password at expire day? If not, please refer to the following steps to collect the information for research.

1. On the DC, open GPMC, right-click Group Policy Results, choose Group Policy Results Wizard, follow the wizard to collect a Group Policy result for problematic
Windows 7 client.

2. On the Windows 7 machine where GPO failed to apply, please perform the following steps to collect log files:

a) Please add the specified registry key to enable group policy log (%windir%\debug\usermode\gpsvc.log), and remove or rename it to disable group policy log after
collecting data. You may need to create the Diagnostics key if it is not there.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Diagnostics

Type: DWORD

Value: GPSvcDebugLevel

Data: 0x30002 (hexadecimal)

b) Then on the problematic Win7 machine, run command “gpupdate /force”.

c) Then on the problematic Win7 machine, run command “gpresult /v > gpr_win7.txt”, send me gpr_win7.txt file.

d) On the problematic Win7 machine, run command “eventvwr”, then expand to Applications and service logs -> Microsoft -> windows -> groupPolicy
-> Operational. Right-click on it and click “save event as”. Save the file as .evtx format and send it to me.
e) After that, please send me the above output files. (please zip them first and then send them to me).

- %windir%\debug\usermode\gpsvc.log
- gpr_win7.txt
- win7.evtx

Please use Windows Live SkyDrive (http://www.skydrive.live.com/) to upload the GPMC
result and the zip files, and then give us the download address.

Thanks,
Novak

Hi This is getting on my nerves. Does anyone here use Yahoo mail? I keep getting notification that I need to change my password. I follow all the prompts to change my password. I get the OK that I completed the change password successfully; but A few seconds later, I get the nag notification again that I need to change my password. My wife and I share a laptop. I use gmail and she uses Yahoo. I'm running W10 and have all the latest up dates This shouldn't be this difficult. I have changed passwords many times. What is up with Yahoo? Any advise would be very much appreciated!
PS I have heard about the hack into Yahoo, but this is ridiculous.

Hi All This began last night I went to check my yahoo e-mail account as usual via my Firefox bookmark and a window came up saying quot We believe your account has been compromised quot and asked me to create a new password I was able to my to me wants mail password Yahoo change proceed to my Yahoo e-mail but was warned that I was at risk if I did so So far I have done an Avast boot-time scan of everything no infection Malwarebytes scan of everything no infection looked over my zonealarm logs checked Belarc to see if security is up to date it is cleared the cache several times and logged into Yahoo via other means than the bookmark The same window comes up each time Thinking about this I opened an e-mail a few days ago from a friend who is traveling in Thailand It was from her real account but it was clear her account has been infected when I opened the e-mail which turned out to be spam I am wondering if this somehow has now infected my Yahoo account There Yahoo mail wants me to change my password was a delay of several days between opening her e-mail and then getting the Yahoo password window This has never happened to me before on any account so I want to make sure that the request from Yahoo is legitimate before I enter my password Part of me wonders if my account IS compromised how do I know that this request will not lead to further problems Googling this issue or reading within Yahoo help basically yields a variety of responses from different people from quot this is spam quot to quot this is legitimately from Yahoo quot I do not plan to change my password until I have a clearer understanding of the situation For now I am checking my Yahoo e-mail despite the warning I would hate to lose this account I use it as a filing system for a number of business and personal e-mails Also this is the account I use for all business and most social contacts I would appreciate help in understanding what is going on and the best and safest way to proceed Thanks as always Firetooth Windows XP professional SP Firefox due to Firefox incompatible with Zonealarm firewall at present

A:Yahoo mail wants me to change my password

I received a notice something like this several months ago. Don't remember the exact wording.
About the time Yahoo started pushing the new version of mail or maybe a little before.
I changed my password and everything , on the desktop seems fine. Even upgraded to the new version when I had to. The lap top however will not sign into that account anymore. rejects password or something. I have even copied the log in info I use for the desktop to a flash drive and cut and pasted to log in screen on laptop. Still can't do it. Made a new account on laptop and that works fine but still cannot sign in to old account on the laptop. Weird

I have an sbcglobal.net account which ATT will not let me change since i have not had an ATT account in years. Tech support can not identify me to their satisfaction so I can neither open the account or change it's password. It was working fine until today, 11/17/2012. I was in the account selected check mail. A window opened asking for confirmation of my password. The password was not accepted and ATT will not change it for me.

Recently I got a email from "Mail Delivery System <[email protected]>" in which it said that the email that I was trying to send was not send, and the email content was typical SPAM ("Hi, Look what I've just found for you, you'll be surprised, more info here <Spam link here> ") . So I got worried and tried to change my password but when I go to Yahoo account info --> Account security, and click on change password nothing happens just the page reloads.

Just scanned my pc with malwarebytes no malware found.

PS In the recent activity of Yahoo info I have my account connected to several email applications that are from different countries.

Hi guys,

I am trying to set up my wife's new machine and am using W8 and Outlook 2007 to retrieve emails from her SBC Global account.  I believe I have all the settings correct, ports, pop3, smtp, etc.  But Outlook keeps asking for her password time after time.  A few seconds apart if I enter it (again) and click ok, or each time it checks for new messages if I clicked cancel.  I called ATT and they cannot really help me without me paying for it and also since Outlook is not their application.  Any advice?

I can't open my Outlook 2007 due to password I've apparently changed. I opened in safe mode and made sure there is no password, but this does not help with Outlook. I need some help on what to do. This is my work computer and nobody in the office knows what to do. We have no network administrator. I seemed to have one too many pst files, so the other day I renamed one xxx.old is it a coincidence, but I'm now being asked for a password for a minor pst file (ie not my main one) which has never had a password. Please let me know.

A:How can I recover my outlook 2007 password ?

Unfortunately we cannot assist we password requests as per the forum rules which you can find here: http://www.techguy.org/rules.html

Since this is a business computer you should contact your boss or manager to contact the appropriate IT support, there almost certainly is a company that provides IT support in your area or for your company already even if you do not have in-house IT.

This is a simple home PC, single user with nothing but a cable modem between me and the internet.

I have two mail accounts, one POP roadrunner account and one IMAP AOL account.
It has periodically started asking for my AOL password, and changing the PW would solve it for months before it started again. This time it just isn't satisfied with that solution and asks frequently, but not every time, it automatically gets mail. Sometimes it appears it's trying the wrong PW and I re-enter it and it's okay for a few downloads. Other times, I just click "Remember" and it's happy for an hour or two. It is set to download every 15 minutes. The Roadrunner account never has this issue.

After searching, the best reply I can find is this:
Stop Outlook/Outlook Express Asking For Your Password Every Time | Windows Vista | Windows Tools, Help & Guides

It refers to Vista and XP, so I hesitated to start following the steps. Is there a more current fix? Or a better idea?

Thanks,

I wouldnt hesitate to follow those steps; because even though it says its for Vista and XP; the principles should be generally the same as well. Especially because it says its for Vista also; as Vista is generally the same as Windows 7 with a few minor exceptions.

I've just changed the password to my e-mail address thru the server website. I have changed it on MS Outlook by going to tools > account settings > selecting the e-mail account > and clicking change. However, the new password will not save. I have entered the new password correctly multiple times and made sure "remember password" is saved. I can still login thru the server website.

I am running MS Outlook 2007 on Windows XP.

Thanks in advance!

My Outlook 2007 regularly, but not always, asks me for the password even whilst it downloads or sends emails. I either cancel the pop up or accept and sometimes the pop up box goes away and at other times it stays. It does not seem to affect the send and receive but its a real nuisance. Access to my BT mail via their email log in page does not have an issue

Any ideas

I am trying to add my mobile to receice my e-mails, like most people I log on automatically and the password iremains hidden. It has been over ten years since I set it up and I cannot for the life of me remeber the original password, (old age sucks!) and the piece of paer that I wrote it down on has long since dissappeared

Network Solutions suggested I simply change my password and would not e-mail the original but by using this method I could lose some important e-mails and it would mean doing this on all of my computers.

Thank you for any helpful suggestions

Outlook 2007 has siomehow 'lost' the administrator password so now it is impossible for me to update/change certain settings. I uninstalled/reinstalled and the old data was still there, still asking me for a non-existant password. This is madening, anyone have any ideas short of a total reboot? By the way the porgram is backed up on an office server, if that helps.

Perhaps I will just go back to Incredimail as this is getting SO annoying now.

I recently ran across the problem of Outlook not retaining my password on an Exchange account I found this fix at another website quot If you are encountering an infuriating problem where Outlook constantly asks you for your password even though you check the Remember my password box every single time then you are in luck because reader Malcolm wrote in with this tip 2007 doesn't retain Outlook password on how to fix the problem This fix should theoretically help with Windows Mail as well but I haven t been able to verify that yet Before you do anything else close Outlook You should also note that we ll be modifying system generated files here so proceed with caution or not at all Open up windows explorer window and then paste the following text into the address bar which should bring you to a folder with a single folder inside with a really long name userprofile AppData Roaming Microsoft Protect What you ll need to do is just rename that folder to something else I suggest appending -old onto the end of it so that you could easily rename it back if things go wrong Now re-open Outlook and then type in your password hopefully for the last time making sure to check the box to remember it You should now see that the original folder was re-created again At this point Outlook should remember your passwords but you can close Outlook and reopen it to make sure If you encounter problems with this you can remove the new folder and then rename the -old folder back to the original name to put everything back the way it was Note I m hearing from some readers that Outlook 2007 doesn't retain password this doesn t always solve the problem for them so your mileage may vary quot nbsp

You are speaking about BIOS password which you set up in the BIOS?
As far as I know you cannot remove the BIOS password if you don?t know the old BIOS password.
In such case just the Toshiba ASP could help you? just the Toshiba ASP technician could remove the unknown BIOS password

This is happening to me. Through standard and administrator accounts, UAC is prompting for the admin password to continue to open Outlook 2007 on Vista Home Premium. Just started happening when I did a repair on MS office 2007. All other Office apps are working without UAC prompt Word, Excel, etc. A standard user especially should not need admin privilege. Something broke

Do not wish to turn UAC off..

Hi All,

I'm running Outlook 2007 with Windows 7 on my Dell Vostro 220. I recently started getting the popup prompting me to save my password in outlook. This has happened before on other computers in my office and we normally fix it by changing the password. This time I've changed the passwords, tried everything listed here - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290684 and it still wont save. I am prompted for the password every time I try to run a send/receive or when any email comes in or out. At first I would just hit save two or three times and it would go away for a little while until I got another email but the the emails would be sent or received. Now I am getting incoming emails but cant send, it just keeps popping back up. Any thoughts? I'm going nuts here!!

Thanks
Li

My mother is running Windows on her new ASUS laptop She's retired and it's common for her to get for Frequent prompts password? up periodically to check on something in the kitchen When she comes back to the computer it prompts her for the password so that she can verify her identity She struggles with Frequent prompts for password? typing the password due to her lack of keyboarding knowledge and the mixed-case nature of the password and I could help with that by changing the password but I'm trying to understand why she is being prompted for the password in the first place I Frequent prompts for password? assumed that the screen saver was kicking in and forcing her to login in again after an absence of a few minutes but when I checked her screen saver settings I found that she doesn't have one the timeout interval is greyed out and the checkbox that asks for the login screen to be shown after that interval is unchecked so the screensaver is clearly not the culprit What else would cause Windows to prompt her for the password other than a reboot I'd like to stop Windows from prompting her for her password or if that is not possible would like to extend the timeout interval from whatever it is now - two or three minutes maybe - to something like or minutes

I've created a password for the guest account. Now I can neither change nor remove it.

Logging on as admin I can't find a setting to change or remove guest account's password.

Logging on as guest I am getting the "windows cannot change password" warning if I try to change or remove it.

On guest account using ctrl+alt+del>"change password", now I get a "access is denied" warning.

Any kind of help would be appreciated. Thanks.

PS: The whole issue has started with me seeing a warning on Bitdefender's Vulnerability module telling that the guest account has no password. I clicked on it and created a password for my guest account from within BD. That doesn't necessarily have to be related with the problem, just FYI.

Hi all,

I have been a complete spanner and changed some BIOS setttings, specifically WOL on my laptop. Now when I try and boot I no longer get prompted for the password (the blue screen with ****** etc) but instead a message saying "Error loading Operating System"

I have tried everything I can think of but it looks as though EasyGuard has died/diabled the HDD from booting or has infact wiped it.

I have just tried booting from the XP CD too see if the partitions are intact - I can see two with [Unknown] where it should say NTFS.. clearly something to do with the HDD encryption/security..

Please help! A speedy response would be fantastic!

Double check using the tutorial below to make sure that you have password protection on wakeup enabled in all options. In addition, check the items listed in the yellow tip box at the top of the tutorial for other areas to enable password protection if you like.

I'm having fits trying to establish a fresh account at ebay after all else failed to
get through the pop up password completion box.

This may not be the right place to do it, but I know of no better or prompt
and accurate reply site.

First I thought it was Firefox doing the auto complete at sign in or register box.

Then I noticed that the other completion box says ebay login something. It completes and rejects an old password each time. The google questions and answers have not got me out of this.

The standard reply is uncheck the box to keep me logged in. That has failed to do anything.

Also clear clipboard cache for which SevenForums has a shortcut procedure also failed.

I used to have a nice friendly ebay account, now I can't get in for any amount of
re registering (did that) password changes etc.

I have a Windows 8 Pro computer joined to a Server 2012 domain.  After I walk away from it, the monitor is set to shut off after 15 minutes.  When I come back and shake the mouse to wake up the monitor, I am prompted to enter my password.  How
do I keep the machine from prompting me for my password each time the monitor wakes up?

The screensaver is disabled and I don't have a check in the "On resume, display logon screen."  None of the local or domain group policies appear to be causing this either.  My Windows 7 Pro computers are joined to the same domain and none
of them have this problem.  They all bring up my desktop as soon as monitor wakes up.

PLease can someone help I believe this a virus. Computer prompts for Windows Xp Startup Password that I do not know.

It says: This computer is configured to require a password in order to start up. Please enter the startup Password below. Below the space to enter the password you can hit ok or restart.

After unsuccessful attempts because I do not know the password a system error comes on the screen.

lsass.exe- System Error Which says: When trying to update a password, this return indicates that the value provided as the current password is not correct.

This does not allow windows xp to open and the same startup password prompt box occurs in safemode. I have tried using the toshiba satellite l 25 s119 series recovery disk but to no avail, it not does work. Can anyone diagnose this for me? Thanks,

Hello All! I have created a database that uses a login form that directs people to specific forms based on priviledges. However, I would like to provide a form that allows users to change their passwords (preferably with a confirm password box). Also, I have one user defined as Administrator, with a special form. I would like to create a special form for the Administrator to be able to add/delete/edit users and their security levels.

I found similar threads, but none that answered my specific questions- relative to my current setup.

So I've enabled password protected sharing for Windows 7 (for my first computer).

So now, when I used my second computer to access my first computer's shared files, it obviously prompted me with a password.
My question is, I don't know what's the username and password for that. I was wondering if someone can help me to find my username and password (or guide to reset this password) so my second computer can access the shared files with my first computer while preserving the password security.

A:How To Change The Password On "Password Protected File Sharing"

Use the username and password that you use when you log onto the first computer.

If that does not work, try
user = computername\user
password = password

...where computername = the name of the first computer.

Goto... Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Local Security Policy > Local Policies > Security Options

Select... Guest only and not Classic.

My friends machine died (won't power on). He bought a new machine but must have had his yahoo email set to login automatically. As much as I tell people not to do this, they continue to do it. The problem he cannot remember his email password. I have a ticket open with yahoo, but into the fourth day, they have been no help at all.I took the drive from his old machine and booted up with in a computer I have at home, and if I click on the desktop link for his email, I can get into his yahoo email. This tells me it must be stored on the machine some where, but I cannot find it. I tried something called ie passview but it didn't seem to help.

A:Sign in to Yahoo and Please Verify your Password

Have you tried logging in with Internet Explorer? If you're not being asked for your log in credentials with IE then it might be a Firefox issue. You could also check Firefox (I think it used to be Tools > Options > Security) and make sure that the password storage feature is properly configured.

About a week ago, I had the new Firefox or Yahoo upgrade, (not sure which one it was), but now I'm having issues with my Yahoo mail. When I open the email sign in page on Yahoo, it automatically fills in my main email password. Its not filling in my actual email address, just my password. I've tried erasing all history under the tools tab, in control panel under internet options, and also by using CC cleaner. It still holds that password and fills it in. How do I keep it from remembering the pass.
Thanks

I also lost my cellphone(!)...both during a move.
So, therefore, Yahoo is unable to send me a code via my cellphone .
Also(!),what I THOUGHT was my recovery email address...Yahoo isn't accepting it.
Even though, when you fill in the missing blanks and it correctly fits in...they're
insisting that they don't "recognize" it.
As everyone now knows, there's no Yahoo Customer Service phone help...just a
"help site" that just simply sends me right back to the beginning.
Please help me! Thanks!

There isn't anything anyone here can do. If you forgot a password and "lost" your backup there isn't a way to recover.

It's on you to try and figure out what your backup email address is.

You need to log into the router's administration page (you can do this by connecting to the router by ethernet cable and typing in a web address that you can probably get by googling for the router's brand on google). From there you can change the security code.

You can change the password manually as often as you want from with in the OS of windows 8/8.1. You only need to be connected to the internet so MS can verify this action taken is from you.

If you are using a Microsoft account (Windows 8), you can reset it online. However, if it's only a local account, you may need to reinstall Windows.

Hello Peter,

Usually, it doesn't take very long or up to 24 hours at most if the PC has an internet connection.

Are you able to directly sign in on the PC to see if it will sync then?

I just noticed the instruction to change my password, using the forgot password process. As I understand that will trigger an e-mail to me, BUT my e=mail address has also changed, and the one registered no longer functions.

I tried to change from the USER CP but that does not work.

What to do?

If you are able to login, go to User CP, click edit Email & Password and change them from there. What do you mean it does not work? The save changes button is inactive? It rejects your new password?

Brought here today due to an intensely annoying new trick from Microsoft I could not login to my own computer today and nearly ran out of re-tries before I realised that Mr Gates had changed my Password change local machine password to be the same as my Microsoft account probably because yesterday I expanded my activity to be more than just OneDrive and using MS Office apps - I went to the Microsoft Store Password change what a distortion of user-friendly site design and use and purchased an App So what can I do I want my MS account at the store to have one PW and my local to have a PW which is something else entirely Can someone tell me how to do this Until yesterday's opening of an account at the store I was able to have an entirely different password for signing in to Live account and to Outlook online While I am here can anyone tell me the correct way to do a search on the MS Store I read about using Win C but that is not reliable and does not work if there is something on your computer which is same or similar named One of the things I was referring to in the comment about the awfulness of the Store

A:Password change

I suggest you use a local account as your computer's sign-in option. After logging on to Windows 10 as local account, you should be prompted to type your email password to sign-in to Microsoft Store.
