What is the best way to connect SP3 and SP4 to a Monitor? HDMI, DVI or DisplayPort?

Q: What is the best way to connect SP3 and SP4 to a Monitor? HDMI, DVI or DisplayPort?

We are just not getting the results that we were hoping for, we are connecting thru a SPDock. Any direction would be appreciated.

Preferred Solution: What is the best way to connect SP3 and SP4 to a Monitor? HDMI, DVI or DisplayPort?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I've tried several Displayport to HDMI Adapters to connect the displayport on mt ZBook 14 to my 27" monitor and the Top, Bottom and Two Sides are cut off by an inch or two, but the rest is fine. Has anyone had the same problem and found a solution OR does anyone have a proposed solution?

Are there any adapters to do this or ways to do this? I can't seem to find any.

I am buying new monitors, the dell u2414h. Now, while this does have hdmi, I will be connecting multiple monitors together to extend the display from the laptop to give me multiple screens. The problem with this is that it only works if you use displayport and not hdmi, so I need a way to convert the hdmi to displayport or mini displayport.

I will primarily be using these monitors with my laptop that has displayport, so that is why I am getting these monitors and that won't be a problem. I will most likely hook up other laptops to the monitors and hdmi is way more common from what I have seen on laptops than displayport and is why I need a way to go from hdmi to displayport or mini displayport.

Any ideas? Thanks.

A:Hdmi to Displayport/Mini Displayport

You can't, HDMI does not support daisy chaining in the manner that DisplayPort does and you can't use a simply adapter to go from HDMI to DisplayPort and get the features of DisplayPort.

I am plugging a HDMI cable into the HDMI port on a Dell E5440 laptop and the other end of the cable, which is Display Port, into a Dell P1914S monitor.
Nothing shows on the external monitor no matter what I do or try on either the laptop or monitor?  I have tried this on a Dell E7000 series laptop also with no result on that one either?
Does the HDMI port on Dell laptops support video or do I need to utilise some other means of connecting a second monitor.  Bear in mind there is no VGA output on these laptops.
Thanks in advance

A:Dell Laptop HDMI to Dell Monitor DisplayPort?

Display port is NOT bidirectional. You can go from DISPLAY PORT OUT to HDMI IN but you CANNOT GO HDMI OUT to DIsplay port in.
I would suggest an HDMI to VGA adapter.

Brand new mac mini. Want to use HDMI, but when I connect cable, boot up mac and turn on Monitor, the mac starts to go into new product mode, then quickly picture switches to 2 alternating graphic pictures of what looks to be 2 different computers. I gather this means monitor is looking for a suitable source?? By way of a test of the monitor, I hooked it up to a Macbook Pro using DVI and it worked fine. Just no luck with the HDMI. Thanks for any help.

Has it ever worked? You may want to test using a different monitor and a true HDMI to HDMI cable, just to verify the laptop port functions properly.

A:Displayport/HDMI to 1080p LCD TV

Hello & welcome to sevenforums,

What's about duplicate the laptop screen over the Hdmi cable in the Windows 7 display settings, not your video card drivers?
So the laptop will be overscan, but not the digital TV that will have the full screen without any black borders or cutted edges.

But looks the duplicate display will stay at 1366x768 / 60hertz, 32bits colors.

I replaced my monitor with a Dell that has VGA, DVI and DisplayPort. My PC outputs VGA or HDMI, so I'm using an HDMI to DVI cable(previous monitor is VGA and DVI only). My only gripe with this cable is that the DVI end is hard to attach/remove. I can get HDMI-DisplayPort cables or adapters, this would be so much easier to deal with than trying to screw that DVI cable in place, but I need to know if outputting HDMI into the DisplayPort is going to cause any issues with picture quality.

I see either dedicated cables or converter boxes on eBay, converter box would be cheaper and I can use whatever HDMI cable I have on hand.

Hi

I have an i5-based DG67BL intel motherboard computer that has a DVI and HDMI ports with one DVI monitor connected to the DVI port.

I added an GeFORCE 210 graphics card to it that has a VGA and a DVI ports and connected additional two monitors to it.

So far computer is working fine with three monitors configured in windows as extended desktop.

This motherboard has just one PCIeX16 slot. It has 2 PCIeX1 and a PCI slot that are vacant.

I need to connect yet another DVI monitor. I took a HDMI<->DVI cable, connected it to the onboard HDMI port. the monitor was not detected.

I tried various combinations of monitors and bios settings in vain. Under no circumstances the HDMI port drove the DVI monitor.

The cable is working fine elsewhere.

What did I do wrong ? Is there something I need to buy/replace for this to work ?

Thanks !

A:How to connect additional DVI monitor to HDMI port

you 'need' to connect a 4th monitor? I recommend getting graphics card(s) to support your endeaver, but up to you.

Why don't you get a dvi to vga or maybe its a vga to dvi cord and connect the dvi monitor to the graphics card vga port?

Does it have to go into the HDMI port? HDMI carries sound as well as the video signal, dvi only carries video, and vga carries a lesser quality video

This concerns an HP late-model notebook, Win7 Home Prem x64, used as a desktop with HDMI-connected 1080p 21", plus usb mouse/kbd. The goal is to make this as simple as possible: desktop-like. Just turn it on and work.
It seems that either/both coming out of sleep state or simple shutdown and startup the Monitor stays offline because, I suppose, its getting no signal from the notebook. I tried to duplicate this on a dell notebook in my 'lab' but I only have a vga connect to work with - it just works. in fact I have trouble with the usb port but not with the monitor persisting.

is there a chance there is some interplay between vendor/maker-specific implentations, plus perhaps the embedded Intel HD video controller?

A:How to make HDMI-connect Ext Monitor persist?

this could be an external device problem, somehow messing up allocation of resources @ boot. my brother has a new i7 super machine, hooked up with a monitor(dvi) and an hdmi bigsceen hooked up as well.
no problems. then he hooked up a firewire card-hooked up to an external mixer, something like that. he had identical/very similar issues. when we troubleshot, i first said eliminate any possibilities no matter how remote.

long story short.

when the external device is powered up his main monitor did not work when coming out of hibernate mode. with it off(not the card just the devise) all is well.

from what i could assertain, didn't sound like your problem. i know this sort of deal does not usually occur with printers and scanners. but it is somewhere to start(or end if nothing else is hooked up in such a fasion).

good luck dude

Hi, I recently figured out that I can plug my Xbox 360 Video and Audio Cables into my computer. What me and my father tried, was that we tried opening windows media center (Since we have windows vista). We have been trying for 4 hours now, using a bunch of different methods. I'm not that very techie (Which is why I'm asking you guys) so I'll use the best terms I can. My main question is, how do I make my Xbox 360 screen appear on my monitor so I can play it.
Sidenote:If this actually works is there a way I can record what I'm playing?

Thank you all in advance.

Bit confused here. Why are you plugging it into the computer? Can you not just plug it into the monitor? Most have several ports, think one of them should work for you- lots have a HDMI input, that may be your solution.

But now I want to run a 2nd display to my LCD TV. So I have a new cable into the onboard displayport and the other end is HDMI into my TV. Nothing showed on the TV (no signal). So I went to the display settings and click on Detect but (Another display not detected) came up. Then I went into BIOS and set up the video to Multiple Displays. Still No Signal.
As far as I know I have the correct drivers for this model from the support downloads. Driver (b2vdo41us14.exe)
I am hope now someone can guide me through what I am doing wrong. And be thankful for any input.

I am trying to connect the HDMI port on my nVidia GeForce GT 640 video card to the DisplayPort input on my HP Compaq L2206tm monitor. This is the reverse of what is expected by cable fabricators who have lots of cables and adapters for the opposite configuration, i.e., DP on the videocard and HDMI input on the monitor. There seems to be a uni-directional vs bi-directional issue involved with DP, but I don't quite understand it. Anyway, the uni-directional choices I am seeing are in the wrong direction. Anybody dealt with this and what is your advice for me?

Hello. We have connected a HP 8200 Elite to our Samsung TV with a displayport to hdmi converter 1 year ago, and it worked well. A week ago we bought a new TV table and after reconnecting the HP 8200 to our Samsung TV we get no signal to the TV.Yesterday I tested to connect a HP monitor with displayport to the HP 8200 with a displayport cable, and it did work.Today I was and switched the displayport to hdmi converter at the Kjell & CO reseller, BUT WE STILL GET NO SIGNAL TO THE SAMSUNG TV. I have connected a monitor with the RGB contact / cable, and have tested to change the display settings to make it work, BUT WITH NO SUCCESS. Could a straight displayport to hdmi cable solve the problem? Regards Roger

I purchased a MiniDP to HDMI cable that is capable of 4k resolution. I hooked it up to my X1 (Gen1, model 3444-G7U) laptop into my LG TV (which also supports 4k). I can't get the TV to go above 1080p! Again, the TV is brand new and 4k capable, the MiniDP to HDMI cable is 4k capable, and it's connected from my X1 laptop's MiniDP port.

I'm trying to run audio to a stereo receiver over an HDMI cable attached to my computer (T420s) through a DP to HDMI adapter. I have the DisplayPort++ symbol on my computer, so a passive adapter should work. The only playback device listed though is Conexant 20672 SmartAudio HD. I've tried installing the Intel Graphics Driver listed on Lenovo's site, hoping it might install the Intel Display Audio driver. It did not seem to. I still have to Intel audio in the device manager. Any ideas on what to do to get audio to my stereo receiver?

I own an HP 8440p with the NVS3100 graphics card. I have tried all suggestions regarding getting the DisplayPort to pass audio through a DP-to-HDMI adapter with no success. I have even tried purchasing multiple adapters in the hopes of findingone that worked, even HP's own pricey adapter.  Can I conclude that it is now settled that the HP 8440p with the discreet NVS3100 (not the integraed Intel Graphics) simply cannot be made to pass audio from the DisplayPort to to an HDMI adpter? If the answer is that it cannot then I will start shopping for a new laptop with a native HDMI and not the troublesome DisplayPort. Thanx, Redlyne

Hi gang,

I have a asus z87pro mobo. i currently have a dsub monitor and dvi monitor plugged into the appropriate ports and both monitors display independent desktops under win7 64bit quite nicely.

My specific question is:

which adapters would allow me to connect 2 additional dsub 1900*1200 monitors to both the hdmi socket and the displayport socket, so that i run a total of four monitors.

I have seen this :
HDMI
PC HDMI to VGA SVGA RGB HDTV Video Cable Converter Adapter PS3 XBOX 360 Apple TV | eBay

and this
displayport
Display Port Male to SVGA/ VGA Female Adapter Convertor Changer Cable Lead Wire | eBay

But i am unsure whether they would both allow me to run a further 3rd and 4th connected pair of dsub monitors.

Can you advise?

I use 2 monitors (see below). Both worked fine for over a year then the digital monitor suddenly went blank and the computer now has problems booting and displaying. Everything works fine when nothing is connected by HDMI. Both monitors work when connected as analogs (one at a time because I only have one pin connection).

I have confirmed:
There is no malware/virus on my computer.
HDMI cable is fine (I have 2 new cables, and switching cables doesn't change anything).
I think all drivers are up to date

Hi Dell Community,
Please help me to diagnose what is wrong with my new laptop.
My Laptop is Dell Latitude E6440 but every time i connect external monitor to my laptop HDMI port via HDMI to VGA converter, the external monitor always blink randomly every couple of seconds. This HDMI to VGA converter is working fine when i used it to other laptop.
Currently i still don't have chance to try my laptop HDMI port to connect directly to HDMI monitor because i don't have it.
Are there anybody have the same problem with me? thanks for your help.

A:Can't get 3rd monitor to work with Eyefinity - it has DisplayPort!

DisplayPort can technically drive up to 3 monitors, but I am fairly certain that you cannot easily mix it's output with another digital output unless the video chipset can allow it (and this would be high-end, because DVI and HDMI are based on older technology and would require decent amounts of horsepower that a single GPU isn't necessarily going to be designed for). Nvidia makes some laptop video chips that allow splitting the signal between VGA and a DisplayPort port, but that's analog and digital, so it's a lot easier on the chipset than pushing 2 digital outputs at the same time (with content protection, scanning, etc. required by those interfaces).

The latest DisplayPort spec allows daisy-chaining of multiple DisplayPort displays on the same DisplayPort port from a video source, but to do so you need to purchase the requisite cabling or adapters to achieve multimon on the DisplayPort port and all devices along a DisplayPort multimon daisy-chain must be DisplayPort 1.2 spec or higher devices.

There are adapters that you can purchase that can take a DisplayPort signal and output it to multiple DVI endpoints (which could then be downgraded to VGA with an adapter on the DVI port), but you generally need to be driving the same monitors at each endpoint too which can be a pain.

So I've been using a monitor via DisplayPort through the past week with no issues. Suddenly today, I turn on my laptop and the port is no longer detecting any monitor at all. I'm willing to troubleshoot this using any links or advice provided, please help.

I've tried restarting my computer, plugging the port in/out, plugging my monitor in/out... this problem seemed to have occurred out of seemingly nowhere. Any advice is appreciated, thank you.

A:Windows 8 not detecting DisplayPort Monitor

Alright, figured it out.

I'm guessing, that I probably set my external monitor to deactivate before unplugging it. The next time I plugged it in, it wouldn't activate at all for this reason.

I solved this by switching the way it got input from my laptop, going from DisplayPort to HDMI. Then I reactivated the monitor, and was able to switch back to DisplayPort.

In my personal opinion, this is truly the most idiotic thing I have dealt with so far in Windows 8. Hopefully display options such as "deactivate" don't stick around after unplugging them in the next iteration of Windows.

It happened again. Did some more research and the solution here worked:

There is a feature on newer motherboards in which they have sleep state settings outside the control of the operating system. Go into your bios and go to APM configuration. Look for ErP setting (default is usually disabled) and enable it to S4+S5 sleep state. This solved my problem, now my monitor will show a display after computer wakes up from sleep or when powered off.

My external monitor ASUS PB278Q stopped working. I switched out the DP cable which is newly purchased. Other inputs like the power adapter and the wireless mouse I attach to the docking station do work however. I'm not sure what else I'm looking at. I haven't tried using the other inputs like the hdmi (id have to buy an adapter) or the VGA and the one other one it has since I dont have cable for those... I'm not sure how to resolve this. Hi all,

In a few weeks (I can't wait! ) I will replace my laptop with the Surface Pro.

Right now, though, I have my laptop connected to two monitors: One via VGA and other via DVI. I'm running Windows 8 Pro x64, so this all works great.

So the big question is whether it is possible to have multi-monitor support via the one-and-only DisplayPort that is on the Surface Pro? If so, what--if any--additional hardware would I need?

When I'm docked at home and using my Surface Pro as laptop, I really need to keep the functionality of using both external monitors (one is 31" and the other 29"). I would really hate to go back to only being able to use one.

If you can provide any insight, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks!

A:Multiple Monitor Support Possible via DisplayPort?

http://www.displayport.org/faq/

there are 2 options:

1) DisplayPort v1.1a hubs available today that allow you to connect multiple monitors to a single DisplayPort connector. Various output configurations are available for these hubs including DisplayPort, DVI, and HDMI.

2) you need DisplayPort monitors that support daisychaining. DisplayPort v1.2, supports monitor daisy chaining.
DisplayPort v1.1a displays are fully compatible with DisplayPort v1.2 PCs and graphics cards. A DisplayPort v1.1a display can be the last display in a DP v1.2 chain.
Here’s an example:
A PC with one DP connector is driving two monitors via daisy chaining. The 1st monitor is a DP v1.2 monitor with input and output connectors. The 2nd monitor is a DP v1.1a monitor. DP v1.2 PC—> DP v1.2 monitor with in & out connectors—->DP v.1.1a monitor.

Hi all, I am trying to connect 2 external monitors (Asus VW22AT) to my W550S laptop.Via the VGA connection, it works fine (for both monitors, i tried one by one), the display automatically sets to 1680x1050 resolution. My problem comes from the mini displayport which i used with DVI adapter (I also tried with VGA adapter), I can't get the 1680x1050 resolution, it recommands to use a 1920x1080 resolution but the screen is blurred. If I manually set to 1680x1050, the image doesn't use all the screen, each side is black on 3 centimeters thus the image is also blurred. Do you have any solution please?Best regards, Jean

A:BSOD while streaming on DisplayPort attached monitor?

Well it's a bit odd that I would come across this info now after a month and a half but - apparently there is an issue with the 20 pin on displayport cables. The infamous pin 20 issue.
To be fully compliant a displayport cable must not have pin 20 wired through.
The monitor is feeding power down pin 20, and the video card is feeding power out as well and the some video cards don't like it, (the power feed is to provide power to active converters, DP to VGA, HDMI etc.)

This thread is pretty close to mine:
How a Bad DisplayPort Cable Can Ruin Ruin Your Day
For about 2 months I've been struggling with a BSoD error related to atikmpag.sys on my Windows 7, core i7, 2x 5870 Crossfire system.

First, I assumed it was a driver issue. At the time I think the 12.1 Catalyst drivers had just been released. So, I rolled back to 11.10 or so. BSoDs continue anywhere from every couple of days to as often as every couple hours.I formatted my system partition and reinstalled Windows to try to fix.

Guess what? BSoDs continue!

Finally, after all of this, I decide on replacing the DisplayPort cable as the last possible point of failure. I should have mentioned that I'm running 1 native DisplayPort and 2 DVI ports. I replaced it with one from Accell off Newegg and it's been over a month without any further BSoDs. I've heard of plenty of issues out there with DisplayPort adapters, but never thought I'd have an issue with a straight DisplayPort cable distributed with a Dell monitor. Having a Windows BSoD from a bad display cable was definitely an eye-opener for me.

Often when I initially turn my computer on I get the message from the latest AMD driver:
"The System has detected a problem with the connection between your computer and the DisplayPort display that will prevent you from using the highest resolutions and/or refresh rates." and my 4k monitor would be in 30 hz not 60hz. To fix this problem I either reset my computer or reset the monitor and most of the time it will then go to 60hz. I have already tried a new displayport cable, fresh installed the video drivers and face the same problem. Can anyone help please?

A:4k monitor reverting to 30hz from 60hz Displayport problem

Hey, I had the same problem and I just solved mine, so hopefully it will help yours too.

All I did was unplugged the power cable for 5-10 seconds. After I did that Windows prompted me that "You must restart your computer for these changes to take effect."

Once I restarted everything was fixed. Hope it helps! Good luck to you!

Hey All So I'm running xR X crossfire with xQnix Qx monitors One of the qnix monitors was Setup (DisplayPort w/ Having Monitor issue?) issues Triple purchased with HDMI DisplayPort connectors along with the usual DVI connector normally these monitors only come with the D-DVI input I had a monitor with just the two DVI-only monitors setup for a while that was working fine Since installing the third monitor I'm experiencing several weird things - On boot until the Windows login screen comes up Windows there is nothing on the non-primary DVI monitor so my setup is my primary monitor is one of the two DVI monitors and then the left and right monitors is another DVI-only and the DP monitor - If the monitors go to sleep or I Having issues w/ Triple Monitor Setup (DisplayPort issue?) put the computer to sleep and wake it up any windows that were on the non-primary DVI monitor are moved over to the primary DVI monitor Windows on the DP monitor do not move in this configuration - WIthin CCC after sleep monitors off I have to restart CCC's control of the color settings for the non-primary DVI monitor I'm forgetting what the actual button says but it's the button under the Display color controls settings where you can manipulate the R G B channels - I have to use the GPU for color matching since the monitors don't have any inherent ways to change R G B levels If I only connect the two DVI monitors this is not an issue If I connect one DVI and the DP monitor after sleep wake any windows that were on the DP monitor are moved over to the primary monitor again note that this didn't happen when all monitors were connected I have tried the newest version of CCC as well as the current beta version - same behavior in both I have tried using HDMI instead of DP - same behavior Aspects of this sound similar to the issues discussed in this post http www overclock net t dealing-with-displayport-hdmi-autodetect What I don't understand is why the second DVI monitor is acting so oddly when all monitors are connected Why would there be no picture when the computer boots Any input would be appreciated Thanks

A:Having issues w/ Triple Monitor Setup (DisplayPort issue?)

I run a triple monitor setup on my desktop PC. 2 DVI and one HDMI on my GT 640. The one using HDMI goes as follows Mini HDMI on video card to normal HDMI to HDMI to DVI adapter. What I notice is regardless of which monitor is set as primary my BIOS POST screen and the initial Windows Boot screen always shows on the same monitor on one of the DVI ports. The video card determines what monitor the POST screen shows on. For me it depends on how many monitors I have plugged in and what ports they use. I have never seen it where it didn't show. The logon screen then shows on my Primary monitor. I don't use sleep or hibernate so I can't help you with that. Why you don't see your POST screen I don't know, I have seen other people report the same thing though. I don't remember if they found out why though.

Hi Peoples,
I just received my new Dell UltraSharp u2412m monitor!
Now I try to connect my Dell XPS15 laptop (via its mini displayport connection) to my new monitor via a mini displayport to displayport cable.Sadly it doesnt seem to connect and the monitor instantly goes into Power Save Mode...
What am I doing wrong here? Is this possible/compatible in the first place?
Thanks very much in advance!
Moris
Ps. the monitor instantly works with an old laptop via vga connection...Plug and play...

A:Problem connecting my XPS15 laptop to my u2412m monitor via displayport

Try using a different connection--hdmi would be best if the laptop has that. You can use a hdmi to dvi cable--same technology and those work. Those can be bought for less than $10.

On the XPS 15 9550, can an external monitor with Displayport inputs be connect directly into the laptop's USB-C Thunderbolt output using a straight miniDisplayport-to-Displayport cable?  Similarly, can a miniDisplayPort to VGA adapter cable be plugged directly into the USB-C Thunderbolt port to drive older monitors/projectors? Or is the TB15 Dock mandatory in order to get the computer talking to  external video devices through its Thunderbolt port output?

Hi,

I have an Asrock ION 330 HT BD with a Sony Bravia 720p attached (HDMI to HDMI). When I start up my PC, the screen remains black. Only after I plug in a second monitor, both screens work just fine. When I pull the second monitor out, the Bravia also stops getting a signal. Seems a bit weird.. How can I get it to work with just the Bravia attached?

Thanks,
Gijs

A:HDMI to HDMI only working with second monitor attached

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Have you made sure your graphics card driver is up to date?

Have you tried starting your PC up in safe mode and seeing if the problem still persists?

Please ensure you have done both of these and then post back; it would also be helpful if we knew your system specifications which you can fill in under 'User CP'.

Also does the task bar appear on the primary monitor or secondary monitor?

A:Connect PC to HDTV via HDMI -> CAT5 -> Router -> Access Point -> CAT5 -> HDMI -> TV

Hi and welcome to TSG.

The HDMI to CAT5 converter most likely sends raw high speed serial video through all four twisted pairs of wires in the CAT5 cable rather than converting the video data to Ethernet compatible data packets. Any Ethernet router or switch would not know what hit it.

I have the 2nd setup through a vga to hdmi cable but it just sits there black with "check signal cable."

2nd monitor is an lg2241

Tried:

- multiple re-boots
- downloaded a driver from LG but don't see that it did any kind of install. Double clicking it's zip file opened it and clicking on the three files did nothing but open gibberish code.
- at screen resolution I see multiple displays and I have it set on extended.
- Clicked detect and identify
- #2 says display device on vga
- tried unplugging and reconnecting the cable (hdmi to vga)

I'm lost. SOS!

lol!

Thx,

A:Dual monitor setup hdmi to vga on 2nd monitor shows nothing

Dave welcome to the Seven Forums.

That cable won't work unless the VGA port on the computer/laptop supports digital (highly unlikely), as VGA is an analogue signal and HDMI is digital. To get it to work you would need some kind of converter not an adapter, which that cable essentially is.

Assuming this is your monitor,

LG E2241V-BN: 22" Full HD LED LCD Monitor | LG USA

is says it has a VGA port on it. If it does then just use a plain old VGA cable.

Hi guys,

I decided to purchase a Samsung LED monitor and have connected it up to my pc using a HDMI cable. I recieve the picture on the screen but no audio, been spending the majority of today trying to solve the issue but have landed short.

My set up is a AMD A10-5800K APU, 8 GB ram and using windows 7 64 bit. The monitor I purchased is a Samsung LED monitor T32E310EX.

Currently the speaker symbol has an x next to it, when I click it it tries to fix the problem. When I right click it and go to playback device it shows Digital Audio HDMI (High Definition Audio Device) as my default device but no sound bars next to it. If anyone could help me out that would be great thanks

I have restarted the computer with the HDMI connection already made and when the computer restarts the picture shows on my TV up until the point where windows boots up then the TV goes blank, my computer is recognizing the TV because it shows it in the display settings but no matter what I do I can't get a picture to show. I just ordered a new PC that supports VGA, DVI and HDMI. My monitor however supports RGB (which I am currently using) and also DVI-D with HDCP. I am wondering, should I go buy a DVI-D (for monitor) to HDMI (for pc) cable or just DVI to DVI cable. HDMI and DVI are both digital and your monitor probably is only able to switch between analog (VGA) and digital so you cannot switch between HDMI and DVI>>> That's my guess.

When I connect my notebook to the TV using HDMI the sound does not come from the TV it comes from the notebook. Also, when I go on to manage audio devices in my Control panel the TV does not show up even in the disable and hidden list. I am not sure if this relates to the issue but I have a code 10 on my HD audio driver if that does anything to affect the sound. Please help

A:No Sound from TV when i connect with HDMI

Hi: Yes, that is the problem (code 10). Since the graphics drivers are fine, let's not mess with those by running the graphics driver file. Let's just play with the HDMI audio driver file inside the Intel graphics driver. First, download and install this free file utility.  The 2nd line is for 64 bit. http://www.7-zip.org/ After you install 7-Zip, download and save, but do not run this graphics driver. This package provides the driver that enables the Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics in supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. If high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) video output is supported, this package also installs the HDMI Audio Driver. File name: sp72370.exe After you download and save the above graphics driver file, right click on it, and select 7-Zip from the list of items. Have 7-Zip extract to:  and let it extract the file into its folder name (sp72370). Once that is done, go to the device manager and click on the problem HD audio device. Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update Driver. Select the Browse my computer for driver software option and browse to the driver folder 7-Zip created. Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked and the driver should install. Then restart the PC, and you should be good to go.

HiI bought this laptop last week and have attempted to connect it to my TV to use as an external display as I used to do with my old Dell laptop but have been unable to do it. I know 'how' to do it but when I connect the HDMI, it just doesn't detect the signal so I am unable to select any of the options (Extend/ Duplicate etc). I have tried looking at the Graphics Properties to no avail. I just can't find the option to change anything that will actually make it worse. The HDMI cable definitely works (I have tried it with another device and it worked fine). Can I have some advice please? I'll also stress again that this is a brand new laptop suggesting that all drivers etc are up to date. ThanksAlex

Confused. Do you have a display running already, and this is a second monitor? Or is this the only one?
I assume it is a second monitor, as you say you cannot see it, which implies you have a screen to see it on. try using ONLY the HDMI connection, see what happens then, ensuring that the TV is set to the correct input. I have a triple monitor set, and th eHDMI has had no detection problem so far. The only thin gI can think of is to change the first monitor to the second DVI slot. the 5770 should have 2 dvi and 1 hdmi i believe, one of the dvi is actually an alternative input for the HDMI.

Putting it simply ( I confused myself, there!) try just the HDMI. That should work fine, then plug in the second monitor.
If that does not work, or you get nothing for the HDMI, try the DVI in the second slot. Either way, should cure it.

Hello

I am trying to connect my Laptop Dell XPS M1730 windows 7 (2x 8800M GTX cards) - to my HD ready TV from LG.

If I use a HDMI calbe directly from my desktop pc, it works perfectly (I don't even need to turn down my resolution)

But my laptop does not have an HDMI port. So I bought a DVI-D(single) to HDMI cable. And connected them up.
- The TV detected something. And then said "no signal" on the screen.
- My laptop screen went black when I connected.

Do anyone know how to fix this? Am I using the wrong cable?
DVI-Digital Single link to HDMI is the cable I am using.
The laptop has DVI Female connector.

The exact cable I am using below in the picture:

A:Can't connect DVI-D(single) to HDMI on TV

When you try this, what resolution and refresh rate is your monitor on your laptop running?

What is the native resolution of your TV?

I've seen some strange things when connecting up to a TV from a laptop where either the TV can't handle the resolution/refresh rate that the laptop is pushing out or the laptop can't push the right resolution/refresh rate.

It's an unlikely solution, given that you have good video cards in the laptop - but try this - set the resolution as low as you can set it - 1024x768 for example, and the refresh rate as high as you can - 75hz, for example. Then plug in the TV. If that works you may need to play around with the resolutions to see what happens.

Also, when you connect the laptop - and if the screen goes black on it - hit windows key + P, then hit the "right arrow" key on your keyboard once, and then hit enter. That might switch the display back to the computer - if it works you can then troubleshoot further.

So my TV stopped working and I'm wanting to connect my PS4 to my computer monitor via HDMI. The problem is that I don't think my computer even recognizes my HDMI for some reason. I plug it in and get nothing, not even a notification of something being plugged in. I tried to connect it a few times when I first got the computer but it didn't work then either. I heard that All in One computers usually have a button you push to start viewing via HDMI, but I haven't found one.  As a last resort I tried turning off my PC, plugging my HDMI in and then starting my computer back up. Nothing.  Any suggestions?

@AlexSivef? There should be two more digits and possible a w at the end of the product name. Please post it. 1.  The complete Model Name. or Product Number. of the notebook - see This HP web document if you don't how to locate the model number and\or product number.  The HP Recline, 27 TouchSmart and the Omni 27 have an HDMI input port that can be selected by the menu keys on the side of the display.   The HP AIO 23-1xx PCs do not have an HDMI input port, they have an HDMI output.

A:Building a PC to connect to HD TV via HDMI

Hi,

Personally I would go for a Gigabyte board if you can find one that suits your needs. I have generally found them to be better quality than Asus, you may well get similar answers from others on here, especially if you have that sort of money to spend on it.

maybe something like: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/195332 which is a bit cheaper but probably better (in my opinion).

I also, personally, think ATI have the edge with graphics at the moment. I have always been a bit of an NVidia fan but the general concensus seems to go toward ATI currently.

What other specs are you looking at, I am assuming your are looking at around 1500-2000 easy, for the full rig if you are spending that much on the graphics card and motherboard alone, wish I had that sort of money to spend on a PC haha.

I have an HP Pavilion 23-h109 TouchSmart All-in-One Desktop PC I'd like to output some movies and pictures from my computer onto my TV but there are only USB ports and no Video out  ports in this computer. The TV I want to connect to can take VGA and HDMI in.  It's not a smart TV, so there's no abilty to mirror as screen, etc.  so it will have to be a wired connection to the HP computer.   Is there a USB adapter that I can buy to connect the two?  Or some other method to send my video/audio output to the TV? Thanks

A:I can't connect my laptop to my tv via hdmi?

A solution I've not yet tried is to get a vga to hdmi cable instead of hdmi to hdmi. I honestly don't know the difference or if that could work, but if anyone knows, I'd love to hear it.
