I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I just recently Inhearted a computer from school after my IT teacher couldn t get it to run Both my IT teacher and I thought for sure it was the Computer boot mother board will shows on Power light green supply not led up, power supply or the Computer will not boot up, Power supply shows green led light on mother board power switch The Problem is that the computer dosn t do anything at all when you press the power button My teacher told me that when he first started having the problem he would press the power button and maybe Once out of every fifty times it might boot up then the problem got worse and only started like every th time now it dosn t work at all The system is a Used MDG with a GHZ cpu and mostly all stock parts The system came with a stock watt PSU When I first took it apart I pulled out the power supply completely and tried to put in another one that I had laying around however it had the wrong connector so I just put the old one back in when I put the PSU back in it seemed to have power as I could hear the electricty following thorugh it and a green Led light would light up on the mother board however if I pushed the power button it would still do nothing the CPU fan wouldn t even turn The only time I actually notice the CPU Fan do a quick turn is if I disconect the power from the PSU for a long period of time then reconnect it So I went to the local computer store tonight with the switch and the man tested for me and it did end of being a faulty switch so I purchased I brand new I then put it into the computer and still nothing and believe me I tired many different configurations on the front panel hookup on motherboard so that only led me to think that it might be a CPU so I replaced the old GHZ cpu with another GHZ I had and still nothing Is it still possible that this could be a PSU problem I mean it still lights up the green led light on the motherboard but then again this is not alot of power so I m officially stumped I m basicly open to any sugestions at this point and hoping that this isn t a motherboard issue if it was wouldn t it still power up just blink error lights or beeps or somthing I would really really appretiate any help that you guy s could offer me thanks alot nbsp

Story time: a few years ago I started upgrading my pc an hp a6244n I bought a cpu and a gpu GTX 550 ti And an Intel e7500 the gpu worked but the cpu did not because the mobo could not support it so I bought a mobo that could i.e. (P5b-vm do) but the chord for the power button did not match so I recently bought a case to get it all working a rosewill fmb-01 and got it together only to find there's a green light blinking on the mobo when I went to plug it in I also bought a PSu Rosewill 450W 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Power Supply CAPSTONE-450 Black

A:New pc case and mobo p5b-vm do green light on board

The manual that came with your new motherboard should tell you what the blinking green light means.

One problem that has me perplexed . When a customers motherboard goes down , it means reformatting and re-installing XP. Of course all my customer info is gone. If you try to boot up With the new motherboard XP will not load. It launches a critical error and says the boot sector has a virus. I know that XP has this built in to prevent it from being installed on several different computers . This anti-piracy is based upon motherboards bios.

I will not build a computer with pirated software but when the legal owner of the PC and the software needs his computer fixed he should not have to lose all his info. This is when I miss 98 , ME. Under those most computers it was replace motherboard and after several reboots you were all ready to go with all your data intact.

has anybody come up with a work around for this ?

A:When Mother board goes w/XP

What kind of computer are we talking about? According to MS, if you get an OEM motherboard from the manufacturer, with SLP (System-Locked Preinstall) in the BIOS, that's all you need. They don't mention any re-install. Maybe you can sort it out from This Page Is it possible to do a repair install and save the data?

How can i tell if my motherboard is PCI-e x16. I know its PCI-e but no idea what the x16 is or where i can find out. Its a Gigabyte GA-81915PMD and im looking to buy a geforce 8600 GT video card, will this be compatable?
All help apreciated.

A:How can i tell if my mother board is...

bahh, no english sites with that motherboard for some reason...

Actually, can't find any information about that board at all, you sure you copied it right?

You can always open up the case, and see if there's physically a PCIe x16 slot there or not. Some pics of the PCIex16 and how to differentiate it and the AGPx8 slot here.

I have a pentium III system with ASUS CULS2 motherboard and it's running on xp pro. I'm wondering how much hard drive capacity it can keep up with. I tried it with up to 230 GB and it worked and in a while i'm going up to 320GB and wonder whether the mother board will support it. And also i'm wondering how to update the BIOS in case if I have to do that. Should I have to backup the old BIOS before it and where can find the new version? I'm really looking for your help.

Hello,
I am wanting to get a new mother board, to use with the AMD XP 1700 or greater processor. I am wanting to sue RDRam. However all I see is DDRAM boards. Is DD and RD Ram the same thing??? If a mother board supports DDRam will it also support RDRam???
Is there any reomendation for a mother board that will use RDRam and the AMD chip???

Thanks,

Bear

A:Mother Board

Currently, there are no motherboards or chipsets that support RDRAM with AMD processors. It could be a possiblity in the future.

RDRAM and DDR RAM are not at all the same thing. They are two different types of memory. None of the memory types are interchangeable. A particular memory slot can only accept one type of memory. Some motherboards support two different types of memory, but they have separate slots for each type, and you can only use memory sticks of one type. You cannot use both types at one time.

You can use your Windows op system to reformat your hard drive, but then you would need to reinstall the operating system and you stated you do not have the disk.

What exactly are you trying to do? Why do you feel you need to reformat the drive?

So I just bought a new mother board for my dell studio 1458 laptop and it was a direct replacement except the graphics card is different. I put everything back together, and went to boot. The screen stayed a dark black green flashed a couple times and it beeped at me a few time. When it did come up, the screen was really dark, and it came up as trying to fix windows from not booting. Also during this time, the CPU fan was screaming. What's going on here? Did I miss a step?

The power supply is good, the fan in power supply is working. I also used a power supply tester.

Was your old CPU a Celeron as well? Same speed?

You may want use the Clear CMOS jumper to clear the BIOS settings or you can pull out the CMOS battery for a few minutes.

Try reseating the RAM and video card as well. Or try a known good piece of RAM and a good video card. You can disconnect all the drives and remove any unneccessary PCI cards like a modem.

The minute I download the keyboard drivers... the keys work properly. Then, when I restart it.... boom... the keys are all screwed up. I hit the N key and a 6 appears??? Stuff like that. Anyway, any leads or suggestions, please let me know. I'm a real rookie at computers. Thanks,

Hi Buzz,
It sounds like you need to remap your keyboard. Go the following Microsoft webpage:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...69-57ff-4ae7-96ee-b18c4790cffd&displaylang=en

and download the Server 2003 tools software for free (good for XP too). Run the "remapkey.exe" tool to reprogram your keyboard--provided you're running Windows XP, of course.

Hope this helps! Good luck!

You can download sisoftsandra from http://www.tweakfiles.com It will identify some motherboards or else the hard way. Look at it and find the manufacturers make and model or the fcc number. The fcc number is generally located right around the dimm slots.

or you can try ctbios, it will read the bios rom's and report what is there. http://www.windrivers.com/identity/mboard/biosid.htm

A:Which Mother Board is better?

No contest the second one. The first is an ancient (in computer terms) Pentium 4/DDR/AGP based board, whereas the first is a much more recent AMD AM3/DDR3/PCI-E board that the Compaq bios allowing can up to probably the Phenom II x4 965, which will eat that old P4 for breakfast (would eat for lunch and dinner too).

A:Mother board and Ram

DDR3 comes with high clocks but also with price and high latency. So, high quality DDR2 would(COULD in some occasions) still outdo DDR3. To a point, latencies can determine the performance more than clocks.

A:need help with my mother board

It should be an ATX form factor. I have an 8300 and it's a standard ATX mobo. The only thing you need to be careful of is that there isn't anything proprietary like the front panel connections or power supply connections. Sometimes they use things that are not standard.

I was wondering if anyone has any tips on where to get parts to fix/replace a mother board for not too much money? I was informed yesterday that my mother board was shot on my year old gateway laptop. My husband is pretty good with computers and has built our desktops that we've had but he's currently deployed so I have to wait until he returns to fix or attempt to fix my laptop. I live in CT but am more than willing to order parts online. Thank you.

it mite seem like a stupied question but i just found this old mother board from one of my old comps and i cant find out what kind it is ther all these numbers like it says ISN: (then a really long number) then S/N (then a reallly long number) then B/N (with a short number) would any of those help me find out what it is?

A:mother board questions

Check the writing printed on the motherboard circuit areas, usually there is a model name somewhere. (I just struck a PC Chips motherboard that didn't though, had to download Everest Home but that only helps with an installed motherboard).

Otherwise, google the reallly long numbers and see what you get.

Okay, so me and my brother are planning on building a computer soon.

For the CPU, we chose to go with an AMD Athlon X2 64 6000+
GPU, and 8800GT, when we can get our hands on one of coarse.
For the cooling unit for the CPU, i had the ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 64 Pro 92mm suggested to me.
For the RAM we decided to go with http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145098.

I am still hacing problems choosing a mother board and PSU, it's been a long time since i've even swapped boards and PSU's out of cases. So i was wondering if anybody could suggest a good mother board for gaming. Preferably a more inexpensive board, but the price doesn't really matter that much. And also if someone could suggest a PSU, or has better suggestions for RAM and a cooling unit, that would help a lot.

A:help with picking mother board and PSU

First, spend the extra seven dollars and go with this RAM. It is faster than the RAM you picked out, and it is made by Corsair, one of the most trusted makers of memory.

As for a motherboard, you might want to consider this one. SLI-Ready, AM2 socket, DDR2 RAM, gigabit ethernet, relatively high customer reviews, and has then name ASUS, a respected motherboard maker. I narrowed down your choices on NewEgg to these ten, assuming you hope to set up SLI sometime.

I'm not entirely sure that your cooler will be sufficient. The cooler I use for my Athlon 6000+ is this Zalman 9700. It is three times more expensive, not to mention huge, but it does the job.

Looking to get clarification on these motherboard headers:
HD Audio link - assume this has to do with some available add on panel to receive high def audio - though I have Klipsch speakers and have previously used the green 'line out' -- Is there a way to get high def or used the digital audio jack? Does it take a pci card?

Front Panel Receiver (input) ?

Serial - what are these typically used for if there already exists a serial connector for the older hard drives?

Back Panel CR Emitter (output) ?

IEEE1394a ?

Note:HD LEDI is connected but with an indicator on the case front for HD LEDII as well there seems to be no board connector. Is is possible to make the connection directly to the 2nd hard drive 2-pin connector and bypass the board?

A:mother board questions

HD LEEDII is used for a second connection to the controller. Some raid cards have this option [in fact my promise raid card has it] For you, just leave it unconnected.

IEEE1394 is firewire. With some boards they have a rear firewire connector AND one for a front of the case connection. If your case does not have this, leave it alone.

Serial ports are for old hardware that uses a serial connection. This would be something like a serial game pad, serial mouse, etc. There is no modern hardware that uses these ports so I often just disable them in the bios.

The audio link is most likely for a front panel audio. You can use this IF your case supports it.

Nah, you can use 1 stick or the maxium sticks of memory it holds without the performance being affected by how many sticks your using (except if you were to use 2 sticks in Dual Channel mode).

Hi if the given number of your motherboard is correct then it would definitely support 400 mhz frequency of ram just click on the link you sent and check 2nd point in the 6 point description of the specifications of the motherboard. And regarding having sticks of 2 different frequencies there might be a compatibility issue.

Onboard sound, as with onboard video, is inferior to a good card. If you don't want any bells or whistles, and don't care about high quality sound, then it should suffice. However, for as you say, $40, you can pick up a Audigy which will give you a worlds difference on sound from onboard.

A:Installing a mother board

Theres a good chance that your Restore discs wont work with the new motherboard and when using XP you usually cant replace a motherboard without doing a clean install of Windows. The old motherboard drivers will keep Windows from loading or make the computer unstable. Replacing a board isnt that hard. Just make notes of where everything goes. The first time I did it I marked every cable with tape. I replaced a board in an eMachine. Physically it worked fine except the front panel connector was proprietary and I couldnt connect it to the new motherboard.

I wanted to update my mother board drivers. There seems to be a few that need updating. My question is, that is it kinda tricky to do these updates? Can you mess things up if you don't do it correctly? My mother board is a Gigabyte GA-81945P-G. Is it REALLY necessary to update these drivers, even if my system is running good? Thanks for any ideas on this.

A:Mother board drivers

I would only use the CD that came with the motherboard to install the drivers. If everything is running ok I would not upgrade the drivers unnecessarily. This used to be a school of thought, but isn't the case anymore. If it works don't fix it. I never choose to randomly update my graphics or auto drivers any more. As long as they are working I leave them alone. Updating the drivers can sometimes result in negative results and cause you to roll back the driver to the previous one.

The power socket will have to held in place even without the pins being soldered to the mobo. Then you can use 2 wires to connect the pins to the correct tracks on the mobo. Any other damaged tracks will have to be fixed too.

Can you post a picture of the 'chewed up' part of the mobo ?

When installing an Ethernet card I shoved the red wire from the video fan into the PCI slot, subsequently, there is an area that looks fried on the board and I can not meter continuity between the posts.

Question is, Can I rebuild the system with getting a new mother board and possibly a video board and reuse the existing hard drive? The old system was A P4, 1.4gz with ME. I was thinking of going to a P4, 2.66GZ and reusing the hard drive etc. If so, what should I look out for at start up and is there any way to determine what else is fried in the system?

i several times installed XP in my computer never used mother board cd, what is need of mother board cd, and how to use it?

A:mother board clarification

The CD would often have drivers for the onboard devices - have a read here http://www.playtool.com/pages/chipsetdrivers/chipset.html such as AGP, North/southbridge, Sound, Video, networking etc etc
The motherboard manufacturer often have the drivers available on the support website - so you can download them

Last night I tried Board Mother Replacement to replace the mother board on my Dell Inspiron e laptop I bought the replacement part Mother Board Replacement from an Ebay store and it is still under warranty days After taking apart my entire laptop and putting the whole thing back together--a job that took my friend and I three hours--we plugged it in for the moment of truth The battery light came on so far so Mother Board Replacement good Then we hit the power button and nothing happened Well almost nothing The machine appeared to turn on All three lights on the the bottom of the LCD went on but that s it The fan didn t start the monitor didn t start The hard drive light was on but didn t appear to be reading at all i e no blinking or noise I m quite perplexed Everything appeared to go back together perfectly with the possible exception of the diskette drive cable clip which we weren t exactly sure whether to put back in over under or through the disk drive data cable We eventually put it through For instructions and pictures of the process check out link http support dell com support edocs systems pblan removing htm Everything else seemed to go back together seemlessly We were very careful with screws and put all the right sizes back into their correct places What could be causing this Have I received a defective part Are there any other explanations I suppose a possible explanation is that the processor and or video board are not quite connected correctly but they seemed to fit perfectly and snap down firmly when we put it back together Please help nbsp

I know I have a PCChips mother board, but I cannot for the life of me find drivers for it. (Probably because I don't know which model I have.) How can I find the model of my motherboard? It doesn't display it anywhere! I don't have the manual for it so I am up a creek with out a paddle!

Here are some specs for my computer:
Built in crap: PCI Sound Pro (Need XP driver), SIS530 video (Need XP driver), and some ??? communications controllers.

Other components: Sony CDRW, FastEthernet card, SCSI scannner (Mustek 600 II CD Need XP driver)

When the computer first starts, hit the pause/break key, it should be down at the bottom with a bunch of numbers...probably something like M748LMRT etc.

Hello,
Thank you for taking the time to read this message.
It has been a few years now since I have built my own system.
I do not think the old days of FDISk exist anymore, I could be wrong.

I am thinking of building another system, this Pentium 4 3.00GHz system is getting a little tired.

I have a hardrive that is filled with a lot of cool stuff. My question is :
If I build a new system Mobo/RAM/Video/ etc. will my hardrive bomb out on me and not work with the new system ?
It has been a while and I am getting a little rusty with the new stuff.
Thank you for your time and any information will be appreciated.

Rick

A:New Mother Board and System

I do a lot of upgrades and new builds. What size is your old HD? Is it SATA? Smallest HD installed here in SA is now 160GB and SATA is the option.

What I do as basic now is install 160 GB system HD, backed up by a 250GB min data drive for Movies/Music/Data etc.

If you are serious about upgrade that's gonna last you another 5 years or so and handle all the desirable stuff that makes a computer worth owning, why not go Core Duo min 2.3 GHz rather than single core?

Put your old HD into semi-retirement and annexe it as another optional "slave" drive for accessing your cool stuff. You'll need to have the installation discs for your OS and programs for the new drive.

One trick I often do is an image backup of the old hard drive and do a restore onto the new drive. There's a lot of ducking and diving to set it up, but the benefits are often a nice way of moving house and keeping the furniture to come with.

I always check to keep the MOBO's old/new chipsets in the family, eg. VIA on old ... VIA on new, so I get minimum upsets on sound/video driver compatibility. New MOBO will come with install disc anyway.

When the system fires up and boots into XP I do a check disk that sorts out any loose ends on the reboot.

I see you are a regular here for problem solving so I am sure you are well capable of climbing in and giving yourself a worthwhile upgrade to drive around with the some of the newer models LOL.
And just for fun you could safely check your old hard drive (switched to master with the new one safely unplugged from power and IDE strap to se if it boots up (ahh... the old faithful as it used to be... yeah )

Rebuilds are fun and very rewarding, like pimping ya ride.

dear friends, first of all happy new year to all.

i want to know the specifications and names of different types of slots in mother board, from the beginning to this date.

A:mother board specifications

And what computer course are you doing, that requires this (plus the other similar question posted in the forum)?

Have you tried Google for this information, or do you just want people here to do the reseach for you?

The information you seek can easily be found on Google, for all such matters.

A:mother board problem

OK, you need to post more info.

Is this a new build that does not post or is it a system that has been running for a while?

Have you added any new hardware and or software to the system?

Have you attempted a bios update?

In addition post your exact system specs.
