Hi, I've got an X1 Carbon 20FB (4th gen), and noticed it doesn't have Lenovo System Update on it, which I've found useful in the past. So I went to the Lenovo downloads site and found System Update, but it doesn't list the 20FB as one of the X1 Carbons it supports - it only goes up to 20BS, 20BT: http://support.lenovo.com/se/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-x-series-laptops/thinkpad-x1-... (See the "Note for ThinkPad X1 Carbon users") Should I avoid downloading System Update then? I've not noticed anything that's not functioning, but I figured it makes sense to keep things up to date from a security and features point of view. Why is it not included by default? Thanks for any advice!https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/System-Update-on-X1-Carbon-20FB/td-p/3427436
I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)
I'm setting up a new X1 Carbon with machine type 20FB. It came with a Samsung MZNTY256HDHP SSD. I noted there was a recent SSD firmware update package for this laptop model, so I downloaded and ran the updater. It reported there were no updates. However, after digging a bit deeper, I discovered that the SSD firmware updater for the X1 Carbon 20A7/20A8/etc. DOES have an update for the SSD in this machine. What is going on here? Does this firmware update somehow only apply when the SSD is installed in a 20A7? Or did this particular model of SSD just get missed when Lenovo was putting together the firmware update package for the 20FB?https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/Missing-SSD-firmware-update-for-X1-Carbon-20FB/td-p/3485035
Hi, i just bought X1 Carbon (20FB series) running on windows 10. there's a sim card slot, but when i insert the simcard it keep poping out from the port the question is, is this laptop really support sim card? and how do i know if it work when i can properly insert it?https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/x1-carbon-20FB-sim-card/td-p/3482102
I recently got a X1 carbon 4th gen (20FB), and I have been super happy with its performance. However, it seems like whenever I have the laptop closed, the keyboard is leaving a mark on the screen. I sent it to repair, and they changed the screen, but that didn't seem to fix it. I noticed that the body and the lid are not perfectly aligned - one of the corners of the lid seems to be jutting out a little bit with respect to the rest of the body. I've attached picture to show this. I'm not sure if this is a part of the general design of the Carbon. Can anyone with a X1 carbon 4th gen confirm that this alignment feature is not present in their machine? Thank you ?https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/X1-carbon-4th-gen-20FB-lid-and-body-alignment/td-p/3441108
Hi, does anyone know if there is a list of compatible embedded LTE chips that will work on a X1 Carbon 20FB? The reason why I ask this is bec the current model, EM7455, only operates at some frequencies that some abroad contries do not support and the older models such as the EM7355 support those frequencies. One being GSM. I tired to install a EM7355 into my 20FB laptop but the bios isn't allowing it. Thanks!
EM7455 is versatile enough and supports a lot of 4G/LTE including LTE-A and 3G bands worldwide. It does not support 2G (GPRS/EDGE) access technology.

Hello all, We've got the same problem here with our x1 Carbon 4th gen (20FB). Lucky, we just purchased 2 but not 2 dozen. Both of them have the same problem which same as Swhitcher. Hi, trying to get a Windows 7 Install done on a Carbon X1 2016 20FB w/ Samsung950 Pro. Bios 1.14 (latest as of May 2016)Special issue is, I need to get it done in a Legacy mode (BIOS,MFT style). I was able to install Win7 based on a win7 image that got the 950pro drivers and the USB3 drivers infused through NTLITE, and then I build an image with Rufus 2.9 (both UEFI/GPT and UEFI/MFT) worked, with the X1 BIOS was set up to UEFI only with CSM.BUT I need to to run on the BIOS setting 'Legacy' and in MFT style, b'cause the special Win7 installer I need to use does not support anything else. I know, sounds weird, but..... . So- is there a fundamental limitation against booting / installing a Win7 on a Carbon X1 2016 20FB - Samsung950 Pro in Legacy 7 MFT mode?https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/Carbon-X1-2016-20FB-Samsung950-Pro-Windows-7/td-p/3338627

Hello, I have this problem for month now :I close my X1 Carbon lid before going to bed, and in the morning, when I resume it from hibernation, the trackapd and trackpoint are totally unresponsive. Everything else work fine, I just have to wait, sometimes 20/30sec, sometimes a whole minute, to have the trackpad working. This is very frustrating to have a computer resuming so fast from hibernation but being unable to use it. I have the latest BIOS (1.15), latest UltraNav driver (220.127.116.11).Tried several drivers uninstallation/reinstallation, several fresh windows install, problem is still present. Hi all, I have have new X1 Carbon and really like it. However I am getting regular BSOD failures once or twice per week. I am running Win7 Enterprise SP1 and have all the lastest Lenovo urgent updates installed and most of the recommended and optional updates installed too. The BSOD have been of the following types:KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (1e) on June 28thMEMORY_MANAGEMENT (1a) on June 30thBAD_POOL_CALLER (c2) on July 6thMEMORY_MANAGEMENT (1a) on July 7thDRIVER_CORRUPTED_EXPOOL (c5) on July 21st At first I thought it was faulty RAM so I ran MemTest (http://hcidesign.com/memtest) for over night for two nights in a row and no issues were detected. Has anyone encouneted this issue and know how to fix it? Any recommnedations from Lenovo? If required I can attached detailed log dmps. Thanks,Ian

Hi, I updated my X1 Carbon 4th gen to 1.17 BIOS, and since then, opening the lid won't wake the computer from hibernation, except when plugged.Bios changelog states Disabled the power button when the computer is in battery mode and the
computer lid is closedbut when I read "power button", I don't think "this is gonna break the behavior of the lid". And of course, no rollback is possible from 1.17, so I'm stuck with a computer wich won't wake from hibernation correctly. I just can advise you all to not upgrade bios, and see what's inside the next version...
Just got my brand new X1 Carbon (4gen 2016/20FB) with the 512 GB PCIe NVMe SSD (THNSN5512GPU7). Was expecting a blazing fast disk, but it felt sluggish something that AS SSD Benchmark confirms (see attachment). According to the specs this drive should offer up to 2400 Mb/s read and 1500 Mb/s write. But I get 1800 MB/s read and abysmal 113 MB/s write. The machine has all the latest updates from Lenovo (incl BIOS) and all the drivers for Windows 10. Anyone else tested their drives? Found a Dell XPS owner with the same drive that complained about the same issue. Turning off windows write cache buffer flushing does help, but that is not a good answer.

Hi, the power options sets that the display should turn off in X minutes. But it doesn't do it at all. Instead, the computer is locked and the display dimms. Hi all, I have the X1 Carbon 2016 (20FB) and it is running Windows 10 Enterprise. I have all the lastest Windows and Lenovo updates. It all works pretty well except when it comes to starting back from sleep mode. I have the laptop configured to go to sleep when I close the lid. However when I reopen the lid, the power button and keyboard lights come on but the display stays off. Opening and closing the several times doesn't help. The only way to get the display to turn on is to quickly press the power button. This puts the laptop to sleep. If I press the power button again the laptop comes back to life and the display works again. Anyone else have this issue? Any possible solutions? Hi, I have an X1 Carbon. I did an automated Windows update today, it seemed to work fine initially but then my laptop got into a blue screen loop and kept restarting. The computer worked for a while after that and then gave a blue screen again. This time the keyboards flashed as well for a while, and then the computer turned off. I cannot start the laptop since then. I searched the forum and tried the hard reset, but it did not help. When I try powering on, keyboard lights turn on for just a second and then they go off. The green power button light turns on but the computers does not start. Can anyone help? I am traveling for work and looking forward to getting help. Thanks!

Laptop has got anti overheat thing so if temp rises over 100c it will automatically power off like if the battery was dead and that you unplugged it that sort of power off so temps you don't have to worry but as long laptop alone isn't idle at 80-90c then laptop needs clean out to fix it and if that won't fix it then it could be something elsehttps://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/Fan-Problem-after-BIOS-Update-ThinkPad-X1-Carbon-3rd-generation/td-p/3307720

Hello, I just recently performed the 26-Jul BIOS update to 1.14, for my Thinkpad Carbon X1 (20BS) with windows 10.The update went ok, but afterwards, Windows is crashing when booting. Using a bootable Windows 10 installation disk also crashes when booting. The recovery environment also crashes when booting. Using detailed logs, it seems to crash when activating the ACPI microcontroller. I would assume that has something to do with the UEFI update, that I have disabled in the BIOS. Enabling it does not recognise the disk, as it is not a GPT partition. I tried to rollback the BIOS, but it does not allow it. Do you have any suggestion on how to proceeed? Thanks,Pedrohttps://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/Thinkpad-Carbon-X1-20BS-Bios-update-windows-locked/td-p/3385126

On MBR disk, Windows 10 requires a 500MB system reserved partition, while 100MB in Windows 7, so you can try to extend system reserved partition.
In disk management, you can only extend partition using the unallocated space next to its right side. so even if you shrink D: drive, the option to extend the efi partition is still grayed out. My suggestion is to use a third party software, AOMEI Partition Assistant, both the standard (free) or the Professional(paid) version can extend partition as long as there is unallocated space on that hard drive. to see more information read:

What gen is your x1 carbon? Is it 3rd gen? If so that model does not support NVMe ssd due to it has no NVMe technology only 4th and yoga model of x1 Carbon has got NVMe support.https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/Win7-install-on-thinkpad-x1-type-20fb-amp-SM951aPCIe-NVMe-issue/td-p/3305710
HiI own a X1 Carbon Gen 2 thinkpad and wonder if it is possible to replace the current keyboard with a X1 Carbon gen 3 keyboard (with proper mouse buttons), or if it will not fit?I have tried to check the manuals and the connectors seems similar although some things, such as the fingerprint reader, seems different. I have no problem "loosing" the adaptive keyboard and fingerprint reader if I can have all the functionality of the keyboard and trackpoint on the new "keyboard" (i.e. the gen 3 frontpanel).
I am interested in this exact topic as well. Looks like the Gen 3 keyboards lack the adaptive keyboard - that clear stripe on the top that changes. The FRU for these X1 Carbons seem to be the whole keyboard, adaptive part, trackpad and bezel - they go for 150 USD or so. Problem is we don't know if it will work given the model year differences. A nice alternative would be just to replace the trackpoint. They came close with this one, but it is no macbook in terms of tactile feel of the pad. I really am having a hard time with it and it's been about a month. Lenovo please help!https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/X1-Carbon-Gen-3-Keyboard-on-X1-Carbon-Gen-2/td-p/1939212
Hi. I don't know what has happened but my pc is running strangely recently. For example, I can't install the visual c redistributable (vcredist.exe), or directx 9.0c, and some games don't work which did a while ago - now they crash to the desktop. I haven't got a restore which fixes the problem. It is all a bit strange.
I've got windows 7 64 bit on a Dell vostro - i7 860, 4g ram etc.
I've tried microsoft security essentials, all manner of spyware removers including spyware search & destroy to no avail.
What should be the next step in investigating this?
Thanks for any help!
Microsoft Windows 7 already has DirectX 11, so installing version 9 will always fail and is useless. It also has VC++ redistributable 2005 and 2008. The latest version which is not included on Windows 7 is VC++ 2010 redistributables which you should install (but very few games are designed in VC++ 2010 today). When games fail, they create a crash report or log. You should go through them and try to find the possible cause. What message do games show when crashing?Check Event Viewer to find the possible cause of crashing of a game.http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/358151/cant-install-visual-c-redistributable-or-directx-90c-cant-update-security-update-for-visual-c-system-update-readiness-etc/
I have am currently running IE9 and see an error code of 9C59 when installing the update to IE11.
The Windows Update Troubleshooter reported the service registeration is missing or corrupt (not fixed), and the Windows updat error 0x80070490(2014-12-12-T-07_49_01P) (not fixed).
I then downloaded the system update readiness tool, but it would not install, and I received the following error:
Installer encountered an error: 0x8007000d the data is invalid.
Can you tell me what to do next?
Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
You might attempt to download ie10 instead,
Both are offered through the windows update system is that where your attempting to download 11 ?
Right click the ie11 update and click on Hide,
Manually check for update ie10 will now be offered,
I googled the issue and found that this could mean my system reserved partition is full and indeed that is what I found. My C: drive is a 500 GB SSD but the system partition is only 100 MB of which only 3 MB is free.
MS web page has a long convoluted command line "fix" for this (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3086249) but I was wondering why I couldn't just "shrink" the main C: drive partition and then "extend" the system partition using diskmgmt.msc.
Or is there a better way?
Hello Ray Lo,
Yes, potentially you can do this... But I would suggest backup of your SSD, before you try to do anything as such... WRT shrinking and moving partitions! Just in case!
One extra step enforcing security does no hurt, does it?
HP Envy 17 3D (M0del: LV045UA#ABA) with Radeon 6850M and Mobile Intel HD Graphics.
On 9/3/11 the Microsoft update site provided a 150+ MB update for the video system. After the update downloaded and began to install, the video system crashed (the screen went blank) and did not recover after more than an hour.
I then performed a system image restore from a backup external hard drive. I tried again to install the update and again the video system crashed.
Anyone else experience similar problems with this update?
LMC, welcome to the Seven Forums.
What happened is your laptop has switchable graphics and will only work properly with the driver from the laptop manufacturer, in your case HP (or any other laptop with switchable graphics). Problem is that WU is essential stupid in that it doesn't know that and only sees one or the other of the video cards in the laptop, and as a result offers and installs one that won't work with it.
In this case stop trying to install it as it will never work. Just hide the update in WU so you don't see it and only ever install a video card driver update from HP.
Tried win 10 anniv update and after 10 hours! it sat on 99%. Finally shut it down. Now when I try to update from setting-update, that locks up & I have to use task manager to exit it. Heard a lot about problems with the anniv update, now I know. Also what do they mean when updating with the ISO? I know little-if anything about programming.http://www.tenforums.com/windows-updates-activation/61162-win-10-anniv-update-stuck-system-update-locks.html

I just saw the new Client System Update utility for my E6500, downloaded, and installed it on Win7 x64. I've been talking about Dell creating such a util for years and finally Dell did.
However, it does not work. After I press the Check for updates button, after a bit it comes back with "Check for updates failed" and the GUI-U15 error in the logs. I tried many times, including after a reboot. Also, the app just disappears (probably crashes silently) when I go to Advanced->system details.
Any ideas? I was excited to spread the word around about it but can't as it doesn't work at all.

What is happening with Lenovo System Update? We are getting an error that the package catalog is being updated? We have several models here and its happening on all of them. I can't find anything relating to this update on any Lenovo site, and the response I got from calling support was "Sorry." They were also not able to tell me when they think this will be fixed. I have two gen 2 X1 carbons, one with an i5 4200u (8GB RAM) and the other is i5 4210u (4GB RAM). The 4210u one, when not doing anything very intensive, is completely silent. I can put the vent up against my ear and hear nothing at all - the fan is off. The 4200u is not the same. When it boots off, the fan is off. It will stay off for about 30 seconds and then start up. It's very quiet but I don't see why it's on at all. It should be off, all it's doing is wasting power. Why is it that the 4210u stays off until I'm doing something intensive but the 4200u is always on? The 4210u is 100Mhz faster but they have the same TDP. Is there something I forgot to install after updating to Windows 10 that tells the fan to shut up when not doing much? Hi, I have read that all the carbons after the gen 2 use an M2.ssd. Is there anything to stop you from changing or swapping the ssd around. Are there any videos or pictures online that might show me where the drive is located. Is there anything that would stop me from buying the model with the smallest and cheapset M2 ssd and then later putting in something newer? Thanks

I have build 7600 Ultimate 64 bit installed.
i hav a carbon game , and when i try to start the game a black screen comes and says , "nfs carbon has encountered a problem and needs to be closed. we are sorry for the inconvenience". please suggest a solution
without more detailed information there is no way we can solve your problem, please tell us about your system, eg. graphics card, processor, RAM and click on "see details" or something of the sort and post a screens shot by presseing the "print screen" button then moving to a program like paint and pasting it there by either holding Ctrl+v or right clicking then paste then attach here

I just bought my NFS Carbon Collectors Edition about a month ago, and the first time I installed it everything worked perfectly...but just recently I did a complete reboot and cleaning of my system (as in everything). When everything on my comp was back to normal, I tried to install NFS again but alas! It failed!
For some reason the only point I can reach during the installation process is the license agreement, which appears blank. If I agree with the license, it then tells me that I need Direct X 0(yes 0) or higher to continue.
I have no idea what that's about... I checked my disk, which is so new it doesn't have time to get any scratches on it, and even scanned it for errors, but nothing showed up.
I really need some help on this matter. Any support will be appreciated.
Install the latest version of DirectX, available here, and see if it works.
My friend is trying to play Need For Speed Carbon, but it doesn't load up. He gets a black screen, but then it quits with the error NFS has encountered an error and must close. He has an Integrated 92mb vid card (should be enough considering the game ran fine on my Laptop's integrated vid card). his drivers are up to date, but still no go. Any suggestions?

My computer was doing some Windows updates yesterday. I thought the process was done, but now I'm thinking maybe I shut it down a little too soon. This morning when I tried to boot up the computer, I couldn't get past the start up screen with the Lenovo logo. Sometimes the screen just stays there, sometimes it moves on and the screen just goes blank. I can't make it past this screen. I've tried doing a hard reset. I poked around some of the settings in safe mode (which I can't always get to), but nothing seemed to work. Anyone have any ideas on recovering rather than having to wipe the whole computer and start over?
I got my ThinkPad X1 Carbon 4th gen directly from Lenovo two days ago. This morning it won't turn on let alone boot. Tried the reset several times. Tried the press power 10 times for 1 sec then 30 sec. Still won't turn on. I spent about two days getting everything set up. Appartently two days wasted. I am working with Lenovo on getting a new machine but this is pretty frustrating. I don't see a way to disconnect the battery whcih is part of the "press power 10 times for 1 sec then 30 sec" solution that I have seen on the web. I think Mark_Lenovo has posted on this (for perhaps older X1s) but I cannot see a way to contact him. I think this must be some sort of static issue. I really hope this is not a common X1 problem. I wonder if I should just get a refund and start with a different computer. I have a ThinkStation which works well which is why I went for a ThinkPad to replace my 2012 Macbook Pro Retina Display.https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/x1-Carbon-won-t-start-up/td-p/3419242

Did you ever resolve this? My X1 shuts goes to sleep after about 2 minutes and I have to log in to wake it up. I just purchased a new X1 Carbon with a 512Gb PCIe-NVMe SSD. I failed to follow my general rule of getting as much memory and disk as possible. So, I'd like to upgrade this SSD but have three questions: 1) What actual part do I have to order from Lenovo,2) How do I install it, and3) How do I copy the physical 512Gb SSD to the new 1Tb SSD, so I still have the Lenovo O/S and everything else I've installed on it? I have partitioned my SSD so there is: 1 - 260Mb of a simple EFI System partition1 - 1000Mb of a Recovery partition1 - 84Gb of a Windows 10 partition1 - 391Gb of an additional partition (defined as D:\) Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. HI everyone, I have a question regarding SIM in x1 carbon. I am not very good with technology, so I don`t know if my x1 carbon has a working SIM slot. It has a slot for SIM card but when I put it on, it doesn`t respond anything, like `detecting` or something like that. My question is: does x1 Carbon (Model 20A8-S00600) has a working SIM card slot. If it does, how can I make it functional. If it doesn`t what do I need to do/buy to make it functional. Thanks,Kushtrim

Hi and welcome, kushtrimYour laptop is "WWAN ready" only, i.e.has the SIM card holder, the SIM card reader and WWAN antennas installed. WWAN modem wasn't factory preinstalled, that's a cause you don't see anything once SIM card is installed. So, to use laptop WWAN capabilities, purchase and install WWAN modem - 3G or 3g/LTE.https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/Thinkpad-x1-carbon-SIM/td-p/2211034

Post your DXDiag report here, click Start->Run, type in 'dxdiag' without quotes, and hit OK. When the progress indicator on that program is done, click the 'save information' button, save it somewhere, and then paste it into your thread.

I have an X1 Carbon (I think it is 2nd generation, but am not sure). I have a 500 GB SSD but would like to increase this if possible. I just bought a new X1 Carbon (Gen 4), and am looking for a sleeve for it. I took the Carbon especially because it's so lightweight and small, but unfortunately the offical size-matching sleeve from Lenovo (X1 Ultra Sleeve) is quite big, and weighs almost half as much as the laptop itself, and twice as much as a regular zip sleeve...I'm looking for a small lightweight neoprene/polyester/whatever sleeve with a zip in which the X1C Gen 4 would fit nicely. Any recommendations from people who already went through searching for one? Or maybe there is a basic reversible sleeve with the X1 Carbon dimensions planned from Lenovo? I'll be carrying in a backpack so I just need basic protection.Thanks!https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/X1-Carbon-Gen-4-sleeve/td-p/3381440

I believe that drive in not self-encrypting/ Please note that the BIOS password is not what is used to encrypt self-encrypting. Rather it is the ATA (hard disk) password. In any case, if you set an ATA password, it is considered uncrackable. If you have a self-encrypting drive and no ATA password, the drive can simply be moved to a different machine and read directly.https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/X1-Carbon-512-GB-SSD-Encryption/td-p/3305843

It's not possible because the two systems use SSDs with different physical sizes. The original X1C uses an mSATA SSD but the X1C2 uses an M.2 SSD.

Hi,My X1 with great specs is not as good as it should be (i7, 8GB RAM, 500G SSD).2 -3 times a day it crashes (BSOD). After installing Synaptics general drivers, that's gone. But I end up with many applications not scrolling. The fingerprint is unstable. Often the light is green when logging on, sometimes still working, sometimes not working at all. Searching the internet, I find I am not alone. This is my first post on this forum.I have been using Thinkpads for something like 15 years, and mostly been proud and happy about it. X, T-series, even 770 (?). They were all very stable and usable for business use.My X1 is mediocre however.I would very much like Lenovo to do something about these issues for their flagship system.https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/X1-carbon-failures/td-p/3343246
Hi! I have a Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon that is a couple of years old. I wanted more space so I bought what I thought was the right drive, a M.2 SATA III Internal SSD. Unfortunately it doesn't fit! Here's how the old drive fits in:? The new drive doesn't fit, as you can see:? Here's a side by side photo of the two (the 500GB is the one I bought):?and here's a comparison of their pinouts, as you can see the new drive is too wide to fit:?What drive would fit in this laptop, and how do I know I'm buying the right one?https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/What-drive-do-I-need-to-buy-for-my-X1-Carbon-I-thought-I-bought/td-p/3456473
OK, more of the same with a few new twists. Since racing games are among my favorites Carbon will do.
I am driving the 68 Camaro. I have played enough to mod it yet but I'll have her hopped to the max before long.
Much better than Most Wanted turned out to be. This one I want to play. Most Wanted was a chore.
Finally got my new X1 Carbon up and rolling with the stock Lenovo image on the drive and have a couple of questions about some recommended updates per the Lenovo app: Recommended Updates Intel Integrated Sensor Solution (Version 188.8.131.5256) - Previous Version - None So......(1) I don't fully understand what this thing does and (2) do I need it? Based on the previous version none indicator it was not installed in the original image. Optional Updates Lenovo Power Management Driver (184.108.40.206) - this shows "no previous version installed" but under Programs and Features in windows I see that version 220.127.116.11 is installed...not sure why the Lenovo Companion app is not picking that up? Thoughts?https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/X1-Carbon-Recommended-Updates-Which-Ones/td-p/3326234

I bought a Sierra EM7355 card for my 3rd gen Thinkpad x1 - according to http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Category:X1_Carbon_(3rd_Gen) but it doesn't work when I plug it in (won't boot up). Which card do I need? Is it the EM7345?

Hello, genealogyxieYou are right, only Sierra em7345 (LTE/3g) and Ericsson n5321 (3g) wwan modems are compatible with x1c gen3. Note, they must have Lenovo FRU p/n, 04X6014 and 04W3842, respectively.em7355 (Gobi 5000) isn't in the compatibility list.https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/Which-WWAN-card-do-I-need-in-a-3rd-gen-carbon-x1/td-p/3330119
