I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

hp pavillion laptop 15-p067ca model, purchased year ago, came with windows 8.1, was not updated to windows 10. seems to have a bug: on start up it welcomes me as a user "vladimir" asks for password and then hangs up forever with the white screen and unresponsive. Password  I'm sure is right, because if I type different password, machine comes back with "Incorrect password" message. What do you think is a problem and how to go back to factory settings? I have not made a recovery disc. Any comp supposedly have a recovery partition, and Recovery Manager but how can I do anything if Window does not come up?

Hi,I have a HP Envy 17 laptop, it was bought with Windows 8, I updated it to Windows 10 last year.Due to progressing issues, I factory reset it, taking me back to Windows 8.After the reset (which ran smoothly), it requires me to input a new product key. I was not aware that I'd have to puchase a new one.I've attached a printscreen of the system window which states that my window is not activated. And this below is a screenshot of the details in Windows ActivationWhat can I do now? I cannot get hold of the original product key on the box.Any help will be much appreciated.

I would advice you uninstall the window10 or you reset to factory setting lf you don't get activation key.

A:Windows 8 Activation Failing after Factory Reset

@Maetrix?, welcome to the forum. I don't know why MS is telling you to come to HP.  The Product Key for Win 8 is embedded in the BIOS at the request of MS.  HP does not have the ability to Activate any OS.  Changing the video card shouldn't have anything to do with the problem.  However, who knows what the activation software take into consideration.  I suggest contacting MS again to see if you get a Customer Rep who will help you. Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.

A:How can I factory reset my HP Envy 17 notebook PC

It sounds like you made the mistake of entering a BIOS admin or power on poassword.  If it does not provide a system lock code after entering the wrong password three times in a row, there isn't much we can do to help you. If you can't get past the power on password, even performing a factory recovery is not a possibility.  Contact HP for warranty service or out of warranty service.

My laptop is infected with a lot of malware, so I figured I'd reset the whole thing by doing a factory reset (also, got the laptop from my dad who has a lot of unessecary things on it). I can't manage to do the factory reset without a Windows 7 disc. When i visit windows' sites i get a message saying i can't download the software because the laptop came with windows pre-installed.I have the lisence key for windows 7 of course. Does anyone know how I can manage to do a factory reset without the disc? I've tried to type F1 while restarting the computer, but all I get is a notification saying that I need the disc.. I'm going crazy!  The same thing happens when I enter the reset menu from the control panel.Would be very happy if someone would be able to help me with this issue.

Hello
recently i upgraded my acer laptop to windows 10 .After using for a week and so i starting having problems with it my disk usage started showing 100% although i was not doing any task.
so i decided to switch back to my original windows 7 through acer e-recovery management . Now the issue is that i can not perform factory reset . when ever i click on that i generally get an error that i need to clean all my files from hard disk as it will not perform the task , although i have no files on my laptop as i took a backup of my files and deleted them from the laptop.
I am unable to understand what is the issue

A:How to i reset my laptop to factory setting

The process is different among the different brands and not having an Acer can't advise as to what theirs is. However, if you have nothing on it you want to keep you should be able to continue with a full factory restore, should be a prompt to do so. I've found in a similar situation that having made the discs when prompted was easier than doing it from a backup process.

Hello mparker and welcome to Seven Forums.

I believe that in order to access the hidden recovery partition on an HP computer you need to keep clicking one of the function keys (F7, F8, etc on top row of keyboard) as soon as you apply power to the computer. This HP article explains how to perform a system recovery on computers that shipped with Windows 7.

I have a Acer Win laptop and when I bought it nearly a year ago I set up a homegroup on it Let's call it Homegroup I was negligent and did not record the reset after Homegroup issues factory homegroup password or if Homegroup issues after factory reset I did I don't remember where I had some issues with the laptop and sent it in for warranty work where they replaced the hard drive and required a factory reset When Homegroup issues after factory reset I did the factory reset I set up a nd homegroup as prompted Call this Homegroup My husband joined Homegroup on his Homegroup issues after factory reset laptop and has the password there And all went swimmingly until it became obvious the laptop repair didn't actually fix the problem and I had to send it back in AGAIN It returned with the same hard drive and settings but I no longer seem to be able to access or detect Homegroup I am however detecting Homegroup which has an unknown-to-me password and is basically being run by a nonexistent PC since the computer running it got reset and now has a new name and identity I tried to enter Homegroup Password and Windows rejects it as the wrong password I would like to delete ALL these homegroups and try again because this is ridiculous But I can't get the quot original quot PC the one I had to reset to leave the homegroup and therefore delete it because apparently to delete the homegroup all computers have to leave it Is there some way to do this Because it seems like I'm in a catch- devised by evil geniuses Also I am unable to quot detect quot the printer on the network anymore is that because I am not in the homegroup All these computers and the printer are attached to the same network I had no problem with this before the warranty work All I think I really needed was a new screen irony

I suppose I should mention my husband was messing around with routers during this; we replaced an old one with a FIOS one and added a higher speed one to the FIOS one to actually connect to, to supposedly make everything super fast. But I'm uncertain about the timing.

A:Surface Pro Factory Reset Issues

Welp, I tried to reset it a few more times, but now the "Recovery: Your PC needs to be repaired" screen doesn't even show up. It just goes straight to the UEFI firmware menu. I'm thinking about replacing it under warranty, because I have a yellow spot on my screen in the bottom right corner anyways from the adhesive not being applied right.

I have a G - latop which was upgraded to Win quite a while ago Recently it started having trouble with hardware and software that once worked not working any longer I decided to use the factory reset option to take the system back to Win nbsp Before doing this I Lenovo reset factory issues G50-80 uploaded the more critical of my user files to a cloud service and created a Windows system recovery image to an external SSD connecterd via USB I also created a system recovery CD nbsp Once I felt all was safe I pushed the little button and began the factory reset It worked beautifully the system came up in Win However the files I had uploaded to the cloud didn't fully propagate and I needed to restore the Win image to Lenovo G50-80 factory reset issues get them back nbsp After many attempts to get the Win upgrade to work I was finally able to boot Win and restore from the system image from the SSD I found the files and more securely saved them for later access Now I needed to perform one more factory reset to bring the system back to Win But the operations to do so resulted in the system rebooting back to the Win installation It was not able to start the factory reset nbsp Some reading on the internet indicates that if the HD partitions are written to by software other than the Lenovo OneKey tools that any attempt to use the factory paritions to do a reset would fail with the symptoms I was Lenovo G50-80 factory reset issues seeing nbsp Using the Win disk management tool I can see that there are paritions on my HD They are called Recovery Partition EFI System Partition OEM Partition C D and Recovery Partition I can't see anything on the first or the last one There doesn't seem to be a filesystem to mount so I don't know if the data was preserved nbsp Is there anything I can do to retrieve the factory reset software so I can restore this system to Win nbsp You may need additional information to help I'll be happy to supply anything you think you need Just let me know nbsp Vince

Hello I'm having some major problems with my laptop and other issues after factory reset new on HDD laptop BSOD, I was hoping for some troubleshooting assistance A short history first You can skip BSOD, other issues after factory reset on new laptop HDD down to the bold if you don't think you need any context A few weeks ago I started getting regular BSoD not the one I'm reporting now on my Acer laptop as well as errors when attempting to write to the drive followed by the dreaded 'click of doom' I knew I was dealing with a failing hard drive so I immediately purchased a new one and backed up data manually I also keep a regular backup via Acronis The BSOD, other issues after factory reset on new laptop HDD new hard drive arrived I hooked BSOD, other issues after factory reset on new laptop HDD it in and attempted to restore the full Acronis backup No good backup corrupt Of course I don't have another one that's way too smart for me Fine I think - I'll use Acronis' drive clone to copy everything over directly since the failing hard drive still has some spins left That didn't work either as Acronis gets totally jacked up when it has to talk to bad sectors At this point I switched to Clonezilla which 'worked' but did what I found out over another eight hours of troubleshooting was nearly irreparable damage to the MBR or file structure on the fresh drive The only thing I could do with the new drive at this point was run Acer's factory reset from the recovery partition which somehow arrived intact on the new drive So I did that and miraculously it worked I began transferring files back over from my manual backup and reinstalling programs starting with Steam and World of Warcraft which were what originally crashed and gave me some early warning of the impending HDD failure So I fire up WoW Bam blue screen within two minutes Different one than I had before and the logs don't show any signs of HDD failure redux In fact further testing and delving leads me to believe I'm dealing with either a driver problem or a VBIOS problem my system specs are way way good enough to run WoW at high settings and get - fps but I was getting around the next time I tried opening it I haven't gotten any other BSoD since the first one but I've noticed visual aberrations when viewing multimedia surfing or doing homework that weren't present before I tried updating my ATI driver but the little utility they make you run before you can even download the driver tells me I don't have a compatible card I do I'm out of my depth at this point and I'm hoping a trained eye can look at the logs attached and tell me what I should try next Thanks so much for any help you can provide

Hi,

As I know during a recovery procedure you laptop will restart for many times. So, don't interrupt it and wait. If it still restarts for a long time, you can restore factory settings using recovery media you have made

So my phone Lumia was hit with the restart bug I was left with no option but to do a factory reset I went through the proper procedures I somehow managed to verify that my phone had created a backup of my apps and settings I removed the SD card just in case Etc etc However after the reset upon attempting to download my backups I was met with several problems The first OneDrive apparently has no backup for me to access I've tried numerous times but there seems to be no backups to be had The second several apps I had had installed are seemingly no longer available on the Windows store So what am I to glean from all this Because of some poorly coded bull leading to an OS or firmware bug bug hard restart and after defaults. Issues to factory reset I've lost a hefty chunk of personal data and cherished applications despite using MS's 'backup' feature if this sounds hostile it's likely because it is I'm very agitated by this I still have the SD card unformatted However there seems to be no meaningful way for me to recover what Issues after restart bug and hard reset to factory defaults. is on it At least not in any way that my phone will recognize Any advice anyone can give besides dropping this piece of junk and getting an Android

A:Factory Restore V Factory Reset V System Recovery

Factory Restore is to the state it was when you first got it.
You will then need to run 4 years worth of Windows Updates bit by bit - don't be tempted to allow Windows to update them all in one go. Choose them in block of say 10, chronologically, restarting the system carefully each time.

Question: Is there a new malware for the hp pavillion 14 chromebook that popup's so quickly that the RESET cannot be executed?  Background, my wife clicks on everything, and in the past I depended upon performing the steps to RESET the computer, Settings, Advanced, Reset Settings, Reset.  It always worked.  However, this time she got into something unexpected, the malware popup is immediate and covers the Homescreen, I cannot get to the homescreen. The popup covers it and shades it out and cannot be accessed.  There is an X on the malware screen but it returns immediately. The screen has a telephone number to call and a voice message stating it has been infected and to call the number. We DID NOT call.   Can some kind reader help if there are other options to access the Google Chrome Reset via 'The Cloud'. Anybody? Thanks.

Hi: Run this free hardware analyzer that I have zipped up and attached below. Run the file, close the summary window and on the left side of the window, click to expand the Drives section. Then click to expand the sata/atapi drives section. Click on your hard drive name listed there.  The first line will be the Drive Controller spec. It will report the hard drive type running at a certain speed. For example Serial ATA 6 Gb/s @ 6 Gb/s. If your notebook only has a SATA II port, it might report Serial ATA 6 Gb/s @ 3 Gb/s, or Serial ATA 3 Gb/s  @  3 Gb/s.

I have tried twice to upgrade my HP Pavillion DV4 notebook to a Samsung 840 Solid State Drive and the two times it only shows a "J" while trying to boot. The first time I used the Migrate OS to SSD option in Minitool Partition Wizard. The second time I used the copy disk option, with the same result. Has any1 been successful in upgrading to a SSD? if so, which application was used? TIA. Manny

A:i want to extend the warranty of my pavillion notebook 15-r0...

I think it depends on how long the warranty has expired, but you can purchase an HP Carepack to extend the warranty if it has been expired for up to 60 or 90 days?? Carepack

I am considering buying this laptop at "Office Depot" today. In your expert opinion, guys, is this a good laptop for basic needs? I just need it for a small business situation. I have Office 2003 software to load on it. A techy friend of mine said I may want more speed on the processor but for $949 w/ rebates I think it's a lot of bang for the buck! Please click on the site below and it should take you to their website with specs on it. Thanks in advance for your input!

[/B]I have had the notebook for five years; yesterday the following message:

NTLDR is missing
Press ctrl + alt + del to restart

When the user does the instruction, the boot starts and the message repeats.

I really do not want to do a reinstall of the operating system; if someone has away to reinstall just the boot tracks.

Hello,I was recently given a pavillion dv9821ea laptop which was in bad shape after being infected with a virus. I eventually had to replace the hard drive and at the same time I upgraded the operating system to windows 7 PRO 64bit. I was unable to save nothing from the origonal hard drive, no drivers, HP software etc and since I installed Windows 7, the laptop seems to have several problems including not downloading Windows updates. I connect it to the HP assistant, but this recognises the laptop and only gives me the choice of Windows Vista as the operating system for which to support drivers etc. I wonder if you could help me by letting me know if there is anywhere I can download Windows 7 pro 64bit drivers for this laptop? my wife and I are both disabled and it would make a great difference to me if I could have full use of this laptop. Regards. Gerald

A:Drivers for Pavillion dv9821ea entertainment notebook

Hi, Gerald: HP did not support that model for W7, and you should be able to use the Vista drivers from the dv9821ea support page except the BIOS and firmware files. Additionally, you can read this helpful dv9000 W7 upgrade guide for some tips on getting W7 to work just fine on that model. http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-System-and-Recovery/Windows-7-Upgrade-Guide-for-dv60...

HP Support Assistant reports that there is a software update available to download.  Click yellow triangle, get to products, shows a software download available, but does not specify what the download is.

Click on Message / update.  Four segment square icon starts rotating through the segments.  Runs and runs and runs, now more than 2 hours.  Nothing downloads.

This is the third time today I've tried to download the supposed software update.  Same result each time.  Nothing downloads.

A:Frozen touchpad and keyboard on HP Pavillion dv6 3225dx Notebook

If you have (and should have) a USB keyboard and mouse connect them and see if they will work.
Since your file system was already corrupted you cloned the bad files to the new drive.
If the USB devices work you should do a Repair Install.
If that doesn't work do this: Using System Recovery, Factory Reset and Minimized Image Recovery Options HP Pavilion dv6-3225dx Entertainment Notebook PC | HP? Support
From this tut:
Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

   Information
On newer models HP Recovery may offer a Minimized OS Recovery option when booting from F11, which retains only the OS, Recovery Manager, HP Support Asst, and HP Wireless LAN. This is as close to a clean reinstall as you can get without doing one yourself.
● If you clean reinstall only to C and leave all other partitions intact, F11 Recovery key should still work later if you need it.
● You can also Extract HP 3rd Party Software from RecovCD.
● Problems with volume control lighting and HP Quick Launch buttons have been dealt with here where you can also get further support.
