I have tried twice to upgrade my HP Pavillion DV4 notebook to a Samsung 840 Solid State Drive and the two times it only shows a "J" while trying to boot. The first time I used the Migrate OS to SSD option in Minitool Partition Wizard. The second time I used the copy disk option, with the same result. Has any1 been successful in upgrading to a SSD? if so, which application was used? TIA. I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)
Hello, I was just wondering if it would be possible for me to upgrade my RAM, it currently is at 8GB, I would like to upgrade it to 16GB or whatever the max is. Thanks!
Hi Yes your notebook should support upto 16 GB I found the link for manuals http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04655126 Page 1/2: memory infoPage 41: how to replacehttp://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Can-I-upgrade-the-RAM-of-my-HP-Pavillion-Notebook/td-p/5697390
Hello. I have a HP Pavillion 15 Notebook PC product number: J1X37EA#AB9 with Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4510U CPU @ 2.00GHz 2.60GHz, RAM: 12,0 GB, Windows 10 64-bits and in what comes to graphics i have Intel(R) HD Graphics 4400 and a NVidia GeForce 840M. I believe my intel graphic card is integrated in the board but the Nvidia one can be upgraded. Am I wrong or can I really upgrade my graphics card?
Hi, Unfortunately the Nvidia chip is integrated and not an upgradeable component - this is the case for most consumer class notebooks. Regards, DP-Khttp://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Can-I-upgrade-my-graphic-card-in-my-HP-Pavillion-15-Notebook/td-p/5843097
I recently purchased a 4G upgrade for my Pavillion Sleekbook 15, which currently has one 4G module already installed. The memory was purchased from Crucial: CT4059590 Brand: CrucialForm Factor: SODIMMTotal Capacity: 4GBSpecs: DDR3L PC3L-12800 ? CL=11 ? Unbuffered ? NON-ECC ? DDR3L-1600 ? 1.35V ?Series: CrucialWhen I install the new module (side note: lots of disassembly for a memory upgrade!) and reassemble, the additional 4G is not recognized. I went in again and swapped the positions of the modules, and it still booted fine but only 4G is recognized. Are there any additional settings I need to change to recognize the memory? Is there anything else I may be doing wrong? Thanks.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Pavillion-Sleekbook-15-memory-upgrade-not-working/td-p/5653909

Hi I want to instal one SSD disk on my computer. Do anyone now if it is Sata 3 port on this computer ? If it isn`t can I install Sata 3 port or do I have to chang motheboard ! Regards KOB32
Hi: Run this free hardware analyzer that I have zipped up and attached below. Run the file, close the summary window and on the left side of the window, click to expand the Drives section. Then click to expand the sata/atapi drives section. Click on your hard drive name listed there. The first line will be the Drive Controller spec. It will report the hard drive type running at a certain speed. For example Serial ATA 6 Gb/s @ 6 Gb/s. If your notebook only has a SATA II port, it might report Serial ATA 6 Gb/s @ 3 Gb/s, or Serial ATA 3 Gb/s @ 3 Gb/s.

[/B]I have had the notebook for five years; yesterday the following message:
NTLDR is missing
Press ctrl + alt + del to restart
When the user does the instruction, the boot starts and the message repeats.
I really do not want to do a reinstall of the operating system; if someone has away to reinstall just the boot tracks.
 Is this a virues?
Is this the work of a hacker?
Has there been an MS-XP failure?

Check this site out. How to fix: NTLDR is missing, press any key to restart Its long but should fix your problem.

Hello,I was recently given a pavillion dv9821ea laptop which was in bad shape after being infected with a virus. I eventually had to replace the hard drive and at the same time I upgraded the operating system to windows 7 PRO 64bit. I was unable to save nothing from the origonal hard drive, no drivers, HP software etc and since I installed Windows 7, the laptop seems to have several problems including not downloading Windows updates. I connect it to the HP assistant, but this recognises the laptop and only gives me the choice of Windows Vista as the operating system for which to support drivers etc. I wonder if you could help me by letting me know if there is anywhere I can download Windows 7 pro 64bit drivers for this laptop? my wife and I are both disabled and it would make a great difference to me if I could have full use of this laptop. Regards. Gerald
Hi, Gerald: HP did not support that model for W7, and you should be able to use the Vista drivers from the dv9821ea support page except the BIOS and firmware files. Additionally, you can read this helpful dv9000 W7 upgrade guide for some tips on getting W7 to work just fine on that model. http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-System-and-Recovery/Windows-7-Upgrade-Guide-for-dv60...http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Drivers-for-Pavillion-dv9821ea-entertainment-notebook/td-p/5594190

HP Support Assistant reports that there is a software update available to download. Click yellow triangle, get to products, shows a software download available, but does not specify what the download is.
Click on Message / update. Four segment square icon starts rotating through the segments. Runs and runs and runs, now more than 2 hours. Nothing downloads.
This is the third time today I've tried to download the supposed software update. Same result each time. Nothing downloads.

hp pavillion laptop 15-p067ca model, purchased year ago, came with windows 8.1, was not updated to windows 10. seems to have a bug: on start up it welcomes me as a user "vladimir" asks for password and then hangs up forever with the white screen and unresponsive. Password I'm sure is right, because if I type different password, machine comes back with "Incorrect password" message. What do you think is a problem and how to go back to factory settings? I have not made a recovery disc. Any comp supposedly have a recovery partition, and Recovery Manager but how can I do anything if Window does not come up?

Extremely frustrated I've looked and tried to find a solution to no avail When the notebook boots up it gets to the login screen I wouldn't be able to do anything at that point but I can log in because I have a fingerprint scanner from there I'm dead in the water The only way to shut down is to hold down the power button While the computer is in bootup I have touchpad keyboard function I can escape to boot options BIOS repair etc and have normal functionality while there but not in safe mode I have ran SFC with commands several times chkdsk with commands several times nothing changes SFC says it found problems but was not able to fix all of them and keyboard Notebook and on Pavillion HP touchpad 3225dx dv6 Frozen the last chkdsk found nothing wrong Here are the events leading up to had disk errors and bad sectors in old hard drive could not repair cloned old hard drive to new hard drive there were errors but the new hard drive booted and worked for the most part correctly in the process of trying to fix missing setup files for applications and other miscellaneous small issues I ran troubleshooting updates chkdsk sfc etc removed various applications and added a few nothing worked I installed Revo uninstaller to remove Kaspersky Internet Security as it is THE MOST stubborn application to remove I've ever experienced The reason I mention that is because I went through my computer trying to find the leftover files even after Revo because Kaspersky was still running after re-installing it and uninstalling it again There were some files in System that had kaspersky attached to it's description I stopped them from running and deleted them They were close to the kb files and after researching which files Frozen touchpad and keyboard on HP Pavillion dv6 3225dx Notebook to remove I remember in the end of the post it said it wouldn't delete Frozen touchpad and keyboard on HP Pavillion dv6 3225dx Notebook a certain file beacause you wouldn't have keyboard functionality I made sure I didn't but I can't help Frozen touchpad and keyboard on HP Pavillion dv6 3225dx Notebook to think now that out of the files I deleted some of them kernel I may have deleted the mouse and keyboard files in error I tried a System Restore of the most recent point prior to the issue and it did not work I think now that I should have tried it again at an earlier point but didn't and I did that from the repair module obviously since I couldn't do it anywhere else I have tried since to do another but the restore points have disappeared The last time I had a working touchpad keyboard in Windows I ran sfc scannow offbootdir d offwindir d windows at boot in the command prompt I got the same message that it found errors but did not fix them all Then I ran chkdsk f r from boot at the command prompt When I returned to my computer after a couple hours I rebooted and no longer had a touchpad or keyboard I am up in arms and extremely frustratd as I feel I have tried absolutely everything to get them to work again I hope that the only option I have left is to format and clean install I do not have a full back up and can't get one fully executed at this point Please help Thanks in advance to any suggestion and assistance that you may be able to provide it's much appreciated The following link is to the support page of my Notebook http h www hp com ewfrf wc product product amp lc en amp cc us amp dlc en amp lang en amp tmp track link
If you have (and should have) a USB keyboard and mouse connect them and see if they will work.
Since your file system was already corrupted you cloned the bad files to the new drive.
If the USB devices work you should do a Repair Install.
If that doesn't work do this: Using System Recovery, Factory Reset and Minimized Image Recovery Options HP Pavilion dv6-3225dx Entertainment Notebook PC | HP? Support
From this tut:
Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7
On newer models HP Recovery may offer a Minimized OS Recovery option when booting from F11, which retains only the OS, Recovery Manager, HP Support Asst, and HP Wireless LAN. This is as close to a clean reinstall as you can get without doing one yourself.
● If you clean reinstall only to C and leave all other partitions intact, F11 Recovery key should still work later if you need it.
● You can also Extract HP 3rd Party Software from RecovCD.
● Problems with volume control lighting and HP Quick Launch buttons have been dealt with here where you can also get further support.

Hello katrapezo. I understand you're having some trouble recording audio. Have you tried recording in another application such as Sound Recorder? I'd also like you to remove your audio drivers and allow Windows to reinstall them. Here are the steps.Click Start, type "Device Manager," and press Enter.Expand the "Sound, video, and game controllers" section.Right click on your sound card and select "Uninstall."Reboot your computer.Verify whether the problem persists. Also, what is your notebook's product number? This document can show you where it is located.Have a wonderful day.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Audio/HP-Pavillion-dv6-notebook-audio-recording-issue-windows-7/td-p/2737617

Sounds like it might be time for a reinstall to refresh the OS and overcome any lingering infection. Follow these same steps for Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 particularly when it comes to drivers and Updates.
Otherwise work through these Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7 including the hardware tests.
Several weeks ago I bought the new HP Pavillion dv9574ea notebook and the HEADPHONE SOCKETS do not work - there are two. Only the speakers work. Even when I put a working set of headphones which are the right size, I cannot hear anything through the hearphones. The normal loud speakers however keep working, although they should switch off when the headphones are plugged in.
Please see the screenshot of the drivers active (in system 32 folder) and other details about the headphone socket.
Thank you for any help.

Hello.I would like to upgrade CPU in my Pavillion DV6 1330 ec. Is it possible to change my Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 with Intel Core 2 Duo T9900, Intel Core 2 Extreme X9100 or maybe Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9300 (quad core) ? Do I have to change cooling system or stock one is sufficient? My current configuration:CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 2,53GHzRAM: 2x2GB DDR3GPU: ATI Radeon HD 4650 1GBHDD: Samsung EVO 850 SSDWindows 10 64bit Thanks in advance for answers.
Here is the Service manual: Manual Intel® Core?2 Duo T9900 3.06-GHz with 6-MB L2 cache and 1066-MHz front side bus (FSB)Intel® Core?2 Duo T9800 2.93-GHz with 6-MB L2 cache and 1066-MHz front side bus (FSB)Intel Core2 Duo T9600 2.80-GHz with 6-MB L2 cache and 1066-MHz FSB Those are your upgrade options and any of the above would be a major improvement. The T9800 and T9900 in particular are extremely strong. Equal to most 2d gen Core i5 processors in my opinion. The market knows that, however, and those processors tend to be hard to find and pricey. The T9600 is only a little less powerful and much more widely available and cheaper. The "X" model processors are a no-go. let us know if you need more help. Here is the actual Manual for your laptop: Manual Just ignore the memory replacement here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yYbeBffNjyg You can just replace the mechanical hard drive with a 2.5 inch wide and 7 or 9.5 mm thick laptop SATA SSD. Don't worry about transfer speeds. The newest, fastest ones will downclock to your SATA bus max speed. It will still be lightning fast compared to what you have. Best SSD on the market is a Samsung 850 Evo. It is what I have in my own laptop. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA4P02T78963&cm_re=850_evo-_-20-147-373-_-Product You don't need to worry about BIOS settings or anything else. Just treat the SSD as a hard drive. If you get a large enough SSD we can help you just clone the old drive to the SSD or we can walk you through any of several ways to get an operating system, drivers and programs onto the SSD. if this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/SSD-upgrade-for-Pavillion-g6-2006ax/td-p/5122744
HP Pavillion 8485Z.
I've tried a couple of different things here.
When upgrading from a plain disk (no OS) or when booting from the XP upgrade CD (with or without OS). The application loads some stuff and then proclaims "Setup is starting windows" and there it sits forever.
When launching it from the system with Win98 installed, it tells me that the CD is for upgrade only (in spite of what the written instructions say) and that it can't install because it can't find C:\Windows\WINNT32\Win9xUPG\W95UPG.DLL. Never mind that Win98 doesn't have a WINNT directory.
So what's the next step? Do I create this directory and attempt to find the DLL and copy it to it?
Help! and aTdHvAaNnKcSe.
I've got a hp pavillion 17 e153sa and recently upgraded the hd to an samsung 850 evo ssd. The chipset is the Intel HM86 Express which supports sata 3. I checked and the controller supports sata III but I'm only getting sata II speeds. The bios is up to date and seems to have no option to enable sata 3. I tried another sata 3 drive and that also runs as sata 2 so I'm obviously missing something. Does anyone know how I can enable sata iii for this model?
You say you are only getting SATA II speeds are you basing your concern on speeds or have you run something like CPU-Z or Sysoft Sandra to see what SATA version is actually in use?http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/hp-pavillion-17-e153sa-upgrade/td-p/5704639

It's that i7 first generation machine and is very finicky about memory. It will take 8 gigs but the proper memory is actually DDR3-1066 also known as PC3-8500. Memory modules, PC3, 1066-MHz FSB ? 4096-MB 579156-001 http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-2x4GB-DDR3-Laptop-Memory/dp/B001UNI80A/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1464004... If this is the memory you installed: http://www.macmall.com/p/Kingston-DIMM-Memory/product~dpno~13790966~pdp.baadcedd It is high density 4 black blocks per side and there is all kind of documentation of issues with it on your model series. I ll put it simply When I bought my current PC I didn t intend to use it for gaming at all Is to upgrade a PC? a6702f HP possible the on Pavillion it GPU so I just bought Is it possible to upgrade the GPU on a HP Pavillion a6702f PC? a basic off the shelf PC I kind of always assumed I could just upgrade it myself later on if I really wanted to On a whim I decided to root out the old Ultra from my last computer and put in in my current PC which just runs integrated GeForce Figured even an out of date card is better then nothing right Turns out there s no where even to plug the damn thing into when I cracked open my PC Now I m not wildly tech savy so maybe technology has just changed more then I realized and modern chip sets are just smaller then my Ultra I googled around a bunch though and while I couldn t find much about my system in particular I did learn that there are HP packages out there that you can t really upgrade at all So I was hoping someone who knows what they re talking about might be able to help me out here Is my PC pretty much quot what it is quot or can I upgrade it in some way Or did I just choose poorly when I bought this computer ugh and to think I was going to build a PC from scratch for the first time before my last computer kind of exploded and I decided to just rush out and buy a shelf box so that s I d have something on short notice nbsp
The specs show that it has a pci-e 16x slot for a video card.
Yes, technically it is possible however you have other issues to address;
1 Power supply. Big box systems like dell, hp, etc ship with a pw supply that is just enough to power the system as shipped. There is very little left for any upgrades that use more power ie video card.
2 Cooling. A gaming card is going to generate heat. You need to make sure your case has adequate cooling.
FWIW big box systems are not really upgradeable in any real sense. You can install more ram or maybe a larger hard drive however if you want to install a gaming card or more modern cpu, you are usually out of luck.
Here is the link to your specs. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...ry&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=ca&lang=en&product=3872323
Hi, recently I purchased a Pavillion 15-bc018nl (X7H34EA#ABZ).I want to upgrade it with a secondary hard drive using the M.2 port (empty) but I was unable to find the right type of M.2 device (Sata or Pcie).According to the "HP Pavilion Notebook PC - Maintenance and Service Guide" these are the possible configurations: but still I have no clue of what kind of M.2 ssd should I buy...Is the internal M.2 port SATA or PCIe?I have heard also that in some cases the M.2 port is not enabled. So my question is: how can I know if the M.2 port is enabled and which M.2 SSD is compatible with it? Thanks very much for the help!
Compatibility is the easy part. From the Service Manual, p. 2 we see that both SATA and PCI-e M.2 drives are supported: Manual Whether the M.2 will work is a guessing game. There is a very long thread here about some of the issues and I don't know if yours is one of the problem models. If you want us to see if your model is being mentioned as one of the ones with the disabled port we can, but the list does not seem to be static.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Upgrade-M-2-SSD-to-Pavillion-15-bc018nl/td-p/5808900
I have just recieved my HP Pavillion 15t-bc000 in the mail today. I have an old DV6 that died and it has extra RAM that I put in it that I want to put into my new Pavillion. However, I have no idea how to do it. My old DV6 has a panel on the bottom that you can unscrew in order to easily access the RAM, wireless card, and hard drive. My new 15t-bc000 does not seem to have such a cover on the bottom. In fact, there isn't any cover on the bottom at all. It appears that I have to somehow revove the entire bottom shell just to get to the RAM or to remove the battery if I ever had to do so, but I'm not sure if that's even possible. Can I not put in more RAM into my new computer?
Hi, The first thing to consider is that the hardware change may affect the warranty on your new laptop, the second is that 15t-bc000 uses specified memory is not compatible with the dv6 laptop RAM. Hi @bassman,Welcome to the HP Support Forums! From your description your issue is related to linking connecting to the Soundblaster audio card you installed using a USB interface to your TASCAM device. I am happy to help you with this. In answer to your question, I would advise you try the support forums both for your new Soundblaster card and probably your TASCAM device as well to see if there is some specific configuration required to link the two. Was updating the software on my HP Pavillion dv6000 limited use laptop and found that there was a BIOS update available for it. Since the current BIOS version on the laptop was F.22 and HP had BIOS version F.5A available since October 2014, I decided to download and update. The BIOS update utility ran to completion without errors, starting at block 16 traversing backwards to block 1. Once, complete it justdown the laptop. But when I powered up the laptop, all lights illumination, the screen stays dark, no disk activity and no more laptop. Just a big paper weight now. I have found from personal experience that HP is decent on responding to upgrade questions. They should be able to tell you what can and cannot be upgraded and then buy the parts from a cheaper source.
I have a HP Pavillion 23. I upgraded to Windows 8 yesterday. As I went through the final stages of set up, it kept telling me to hook up the ethernet cable, the only option it gave me to connect to the internet. My PC came with a wireless card installed, which worked perfectly before the upgrade. I have searched everywhere and the wireless is just gone. It does not detect any wireless device at all. Help!
You would see it listed as a Network Controller along with all the other devices in the device manager. It would have a little yellow ! mark on the lower right of the Network Controller. It will not be under the network adapters section of the device manager. Did you just try installing the driver for it anyway? http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=cp-112272-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&os=4132&product=5261633&sw_lang=http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Operating-Systems-and-Recovery/HP-Pavillion-23-Windows-8-upgrade-missing-wireless/td-p/2300635
Hi, I tried to upgrade my Pavillion Desktop a67744uk from Windows Vista to Windows10 and got the orange and white screen of death after startup. The Win10 install did not even start - it just stopped with the cursor blinking on the screen. I contacted Microsoft and they stated that this HP model cannot be upgraded to Windows10 because HP have not released the correct drivers. Can anyone confirm whether this is correct? I am running with 8Gb memory (upgraded from 4Gb) and have upgraded the original disk to solid state so the desktop is running Vista (64-bit) very well and it is fast. However the applications are no longer supported and I need to upgrade to Windows10. Any advice on what to do? I have a Pavillion Model A6525UK I wanted to upgrade from VistaHome premium 32 to Windows 7.I ran the Windows 7 upgrade advisor which told me to download the latest driver for the Nvidia nForce 10/100mps ethernet before attempting the Windows 7 Install. I've been in contact with Nvidia customer services and got this reply Upon checking the system information using the screenshot provided I see that it is a Nforce 430/Geforce 6150SE chipset in your system and there is no upgrade possible to windows 7 using the chipset as there are no supporting drivers for the card for windows 7. Please do let me know if there are any questions or concerns. Best regards,ShahbazNVIDIA Customer Care On the basis of their reply it looks like I can't upgrade to Windows 7 if I wanted to due to the driver issue I think this is pretty poor. Can anyone confirm. Thanks
Hi: The information you received from Nvidia is incorrect. There is indeed an updated chipset driver from Nvidia, which updates the ethernet driver so you can upgrade to W7. W7 is not listed on the drop down menu for the driver download but when you select Vista, it shows the driver is also good for W7. Here it is...32 bit... http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/14874/en-ushttp://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Operating-Systems-and-Recovery/Pavillion-upgrade-Vista-to-Windows-7-No-compatible-NVidia/td-p/5683529

I've been having issues with my laptop fan not working for months now. I took the fan out and cleaned the entire laptop, had the fan tested and it wasn't broken. Is the problem with my mobo and what can I do to fix this. Please help
Post the full model # of your laptop - should be a sticker on the bottom that has the full model #.
May need to check for a BIOS update - I remember some laptops needing BIOS updates that fixed fan issues....I just can't remember if they were HP G6's or not.

Has anyone got any instructions for sorting this out? the laptop I'm using is a HP Pavillion DV6-6b50sa which normally uses IDT Audio.
Installing audio drivers aren't my forte so if anyone could help then it'd be much appreciated
Thanks in advance
EDIT: Just tried unplugging the headphones - sound works fine without the headphones, but when I plug them in it goes dead again, then the whole thing just stopped - any ideas?
If anyone else has the same problem with IDT Audio - go to the 'SWSetup' folder (accessible from the C: drive), then 'Audio' then run IDT. It will ask you to restart - restart then when you log back on, sound will work through headphones toohttp://www.eightforums.com/sound-audio/8641-idt-audio-pavillion-dv6-not-working.html
All of a sudden my ESC key isn't working on my laptop anymore I tried restoring it and uninstalling the keyboards but it still hasn't worked but I have just been looking up stuff online nothing tailored specifically to my model type please help you if you can.thanks

Hi. As I said I am running a HP Pavilion a1530 desktop with Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2. For a long time I have been able to talk with my friends on the computer. Recently, my Mic has stopped working. I have tried several mics to no avail. I go to sound recorder and it does not pick anything up. I have tried messing with settings but I am not sure what to do. I have tried many of the other tips that are floating around the internet. I have messed with my drivers several time with no luck. I'm not sure what to do next so hope you guys can offer some help thanks!http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f10/mic-stopped-working-on-an-hp-pavillion-a1530n-326263.html
I upgraded to Windows 10 and the touchpad worked at first, but now has stopped completely. There is no light on, but the system diagnostics and device manager say it is working. Have checked that is not coinflicting with external mouse and the driver is up to date. Help!Mark
I uninstalled the driver and restarted the computer, this made the system re-install the driver (19.2.4) and now works!!! The wonders of technology.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Video-Display-and-Touch/Pavillion-13-laptop-touchpad-not-working/td-p/5641679
The webcam on the laptop I have (metioned above) is not working anymore. It used to when we first got the laptop but then all of the sudden it would say no camera is detected. Any advice, please? Also when i try to use it the light comes on but no picture shows up. Oh! And the webcam is also built in.
is there any news with regard to the solution on getting the integrated webcam to work under win7 for HP Paviliion dv9000 series?
perhaps this forum is more appropiate than the one I used in March, see here please:
integrated webcam does not work after windows 7 install
thanks for any hint!
I've bought an external one so I can at least do video sessions but I'd like to use the integrate one again.

First and most obvious is a driver issue. Please go into device manager and look to see if you webcam driver is installed and working
Please go to start>search>type device manager.
Are there any "unknown devices" with yellow triangles on them?

A few days ago my internal microphone stopped working and though I hadn't used them for a while so can't be sure it was at the same time so did the USB's..... An external mic still works and the system seems to want to make it the default mic I have tried most of the methods decribed on here to get them back - unistall and reinstall drivers etc.(no yellow exclamation marks) This happened when I was on Windows 7 and thought when I upgraded to Windows 10 a couple of days ago it would solve it but it didn't.Product name: HP Pavilion g6 Notebook PCProduct number: A8J56EA#ABUWindows 10 Home 64-bit Device Manager screenshot below ......thanks and fingers crossed.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Audio/Pavillion-G6-internal-microphone-and-USB-s-stopped-working/td-p/5708598

Hello. I have a HP Pavillion 500-314. It runs on Windows 10. My audio was working fine until I was forced to reset the computer after my computer went into a "Preparing Automatic Repair" loop. After I reset the computer, there was an "x" next to the little speaker icon in the lower right hand corner. When I hover my mouse over the speaker icon, it says "No speakers or headphones are plugged in". This is driving me crazy as the other posts regarding the IDT High Definition Audio have not worked. I would greatly appreciate a speedy response. Thank you for your time.-Shayna Ghram-Kaiser
Hi: Since I don't know what other posts you read regarding this matter, what works for most forum members is to install the W8.1 IDT audio driver from your PC's support and driver page. This package provides the IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio for supported desktop models that are running a supported operating system. - Provides the audio driver release for supported desktop models and operating systems. File name: sp65946.exe If you have already done that and it didn't resolve the problem, unfortunately I don't have any other suggestions for you to try.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Audio/IDT-High-Definition-Audio-not-working-HP-Pavillion-500-314/td-p/5299573
Three days ago my wife's HP Pavillon computer just stopped working, it will not turn on at all. I made the obligatory call to HP support, spoke to at least three people who I could barely understand, gave each one all of my personal details, told each of them the same story and of course they all that it is out of warranty. I am going to replace the mother board;
SHould I use a different model number for enhanced operation?
Should I change the processor to a faster one?
Are there any other things that is should consider regarding my problem or the repair of the same?
also what about a replacement guide, will it come with the Mother board?
My operating system is WIndows XP home
My hard disk stopped working after making some abnormal sound while i was working in my laptop. Lateron it was found that the motor of the hard disk was disturbing. Can i replace that motor because i want to recover my all important datas within that hard disk. Please suggest some solution.
craj4u Sorry, NO -- you can not replace the motor in a hard drive. While you COULD have that done at a commercial drive repair facility, prices will start around $1000 USD! I know because I had a drive fail a while back and that's the cheapest price I could find. The drive has to be disassembled in a clean-room environment -- and those cost a lot to maintain. You would need to replace the drive, and if it will not spin up anymore, then sorry, there is no way to recover data from the drive other than using the commercial drive repair facilities. Hi, I own a hp pavillion dv6 7050ca notebook and the touchpad is working but the disable/enable function on the top left corner, gestures, etc is not... The only way to get the functions working is to go to the mouse settings and right when it pops up, the functions work...but right after I shutdown, restart, hibernate, the functions stop working again..my brother has the exact same laptop and doesn't have this problem..we have the same device version(snynaptics pointing device driver version 8.1) and I also checked my msconfig to make sure synaptics is enabled on both startup and services..pls help me! Keep in mind the touchpad still works..just not the gestures and disable/enable square on top left corner of touchpad. And I also tried to uninstall and reinstall the driver but still no luck..any help will be very much appreciated!

I have just opened the box on my new HP Pavillion X2. Windows 10 has set up successfully. When I try to open Microsoft Mobile Word and Excel (that come bundled) they crash after opening for a couple of seconds. The applications fire up and then just shut down! I bought this for an urgent business trip so need to get these apps working asap.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Software-and-How-To-Questions/Brand-new-HP-Pavillion-X2-Mobile-Office-apps-not-working/td-p/5714853
I am servicing a HP dv1300 laptop and a portion of the keyboard produces nothing. I have tried many things but can't understand why the keyboard dose not work as a basic BIOS standard unless its a mainboard problem.
That was my conclusion.......I would like to be wrong about that.
The Laptop was purchased in the US.
Can't do much with it without the keyboard and I have tried an external keyboard........same result......I have dissconnected and reconnected the keyboard to no avail.
Any tips on this.........Thank you

I have checked the forums and was unable to find a viable solution for my model and operating system (most posts are from 2013 and before). I got my laptop as Windows 8.1 and the light worked fine. I did the free upgrade to WIndows 10 and the Mute light stopped working. Since then I have reformated my system to be Full windows 10 (not an upgraded) and still do not have the mute light. I have tried upgrading my HD Audio drivers (AMD) and still no go. Any ideas? Hello New to the Tech forum boards but I am having a problem with my HP Pavillion dv t The hard drive went bad so I installed a new Seagate TB internal hard drive in the notebook Starts up fine and then it says that quot No bootable device found quot ---insert disk press any key The disc is in the cd rom I went into the BIOS enabled the CD ROM boot option I HP hard Installed drive boot not new Pavillion dv6, disk working on also went into the Boot option menu and tried selecting the Installed new hard drive on HP Pavillion dv6, boot disk not working internal cd dvd rom drive option and I went into the actual boot order screen and adjusted the boot order so it read the cd-rom drive first then the hard drive I also am using the HP Application and Driver recovery DVD I am not sure if the disc is bad or cd drive is bad The other thought is that because it is a Installed new hard drive on HP Pavillion dv6, boot disk not working brand new hard drive there is no information on it for the drivers so maybe the computer is not processing the information If anyone has knowledge of this issue or any ideas that can help I would greatly appreciate it Thank You

I recently installed Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit in my laptop. I also installed Digita persona fingerprint software along with other drivers and software. No error message is shown. Just a window is coming with a blue bar showing it is being installed. That's it. I can also see it as installed in the control panel. But nothing more happens. The fingerprint reader is not detecting fingerprint. What can be the reason for this problem and how can I solve this?
Hi there ... Did you Install the chipset Driver from the HP website ? Also did you Install Validity Sensor Driver...http://www.sevenforums.com/software/295646-digita-persona-fingerprint-reader-not-working-pavillion-dv6-1337tx.html
