Spectre X360 i7 extremely hot

Q: Spectre X360 i7 extremely hot

My Spectre X360 is becoming extremely warm in the bottom upper left. It is to warm to have on my lap and I am worried about the computer becoming too hot. The laptop was bought only a month ago and I have yet to use it for any extensive purpose. Is this just a problem with this model or just mine? And is there anyway to fix this or will I have to buy an external fan?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hey everyone I own the Acer Aspire G- and I ve had it for a little over two years now One 5552G-7641 Aspire with Temperatures Acer Extremely High of the main problems I have with it is its temperature Right now when all I have open Extremely High Temperatures with Acer Aspire 5552G-7641 is Firefox and iTunes the temperature according to Speedfan is as follows HD C Temp C GPU C Core C I have the rear of my laptop suspended about cm in the air by putting two bottle caps in the rear corners This is an attempt to promote better cooling When I play video games it overheats to the point that the laptop shuts off automatically I understand that the majority of overheating issues is not cleaning enough And indeed I have never cleaned my laptop before However opening the laptop or bringing it to a tech-guy is not really an option at the moment I have read on many forums that using compressed air is efficient but I have also read that it can be extremely dangerous on laptops because of water moisture Also they seem to only pertain to desktops With that said I am here to ask for advice as to what to do with this thing The only ventilation hole is on the left of the laptop and takes up about of the side If any additional information is needed I will gladly provide it Thank you nbsp

A:Extremely loud PC

Download Speedfan and list the temps. Also play with the fan speed % to lower certain fan speeds and isolate the problem. This'll only work if you connected case fans to mobo (not PSU).

Also take a picture of your case, with particular detail to the space between the graphics cards.

Also, what was your previous computer? This isn't a server - even at all fans full speed you won't have "horrendously loud" system that can be overwhelming for an entire household. What I'm trying to say, is that you might be used to a laptop and not a performance workstation.

I just got this computer about 2 weeks ago, and ALREADY I am getting lag problems. I have the CPU widget, and when I am JUST on the web browser, I get about 50-70 CPU being used. My specs are:
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4400+
Nvidia GeForce GT 430
And if it helps, I AM using an external HDD for most of my programs, since the original PC came with only 250 GB.

A:Computer becoming extremely slow. It's brand new.

Which applications do you have installed to the external?
What connection type and speed is the external HDD?

I'm not sure I would install applications to a USB 2.0 drive. Especially if the applications are used frequently. I know I wouldn't if the application installs memory resident system monitors that run 24/7. However I usually disable these monitors from running at startup as well.

Hello,

I have a Dell Latitude D620 laptop that I bought in 2006 and it runs EXTREMELY slow, whether I am on the Internet or just doing basic tasks in Windows or MS Office. It has Windows XP, some basic software (like MS Office), and only a few files (because the hard drive crashed last year, so I only put a few files back on it, after installing the new hard drive). I know it's relatively old, but is there ANYTHING I can do to increase the speed of the computer, without buying additional memory? Any help I can get with increasing the speed will be greatly appreciated.

Also, I don't know if this is a different issue, but sometimes the laptop seems to get too hot (at the bottom) after being on for too long.

Thanks in advance.

A:Dell laptop runs extremely slow - need help boosting speed

First, make sure your vents are clear of dust. Heat can cause all kinds of issues. Do you have a cooling pad?

Second, have you scanned for infections?

Well, a long time ago, I was just playing WoW and my CPU fan just started getting realllly loud out of no where, and it hasn't ever done this. So I lightly hit it and the noise stopped for awhile and now it's back. Hitting it doesn't do the trick anymore, I mean it's like out of this world, it's so annoying. My brother is a computer geek and runs servers and stuff out of our house, his room looks pretty crazy, anyways I haven't really asked him about it. I think last time though he said to just get a new CPU, I don't really have alot of money though.

Why not just replace the fan? Make sure it's a CPU fan and not a chassis fan.

Hello, I've recently got a new laptop, It works great. 0 Lag problems for anything, no freezing, it has decent speed and it seems to be better in every way compared to my previous laptop, however the internet is terrible. It takes 10~ seconds to load google let alone search something and it takes forever for a 10 minute youtube video to load on 360p. I can only assume that my computer does not get along with my router. Can any of you please help me fix this issue? Everything would be greatly appreciated! Thank you very much.

I'd like to add that at moments it has really good connection but about 90% of the time it's as I said above.

We will need lots of hardware and setup info to do you any good

version of windows
make + model of your modem and router if any
your ISP connection is ADSL or Cable? to which ISP
how are you connected to your modem or router? wired or wifi?
get on line and then
get a command prompt and enter IPCONFIG /ALL >myTCP.txt
open myTCP.txt and copy/paste that information into your follow-up response.

My CPU usage is constantly really high, even when I'm doing nothing demanding. Furthermore, it's erratic; for example, where I began typing in this thread, my CPU was at 97% and then all of a sudden drop down to 10% and then back up to 90% etc. I even ran it in safe mode - where it was barley running any processes - and it was going up to 98%. I have an Acer Aspire 3050 which is about 4 years old now. I use XP.

As of September I started getting a lot of probelms.

1) computer would work fine but after about forty minutes just start crawling, now it just takes long to do anything
2)opening applications takes forever
3)the pop-ups when right clicking takes forever
4)everytime i restart my computer I have to go into to services to turn sound on
5)every other time or so i restart my computer I get a message similiar to this: "Windows Host Processor 32" something like that
6)i started a disk cleanup 10 hours ago and its not even half done

I have done multiple scans and there are no malwares, spywares, viruses, etc. I use AVG free, Error Fix, Super Anti-Spyware.

I am not a very computer literate, so if someone can help me out, that would be great!

Slow PC

Hi, A few things you could look at. Do you have much empty space left on the 'C' drive? It's possible after 4 years that it's almost filled with files.
Can you clear out any big files you don't need any more or move them to DVD or to another hard drive? (eg video files)
Have you 'defragmented' the 'C' drive lately? You will need about 10% or more hard drive space to be able to defrag 'C' in a reasonable time.
You can use the Microsoft defragmenter that is in 'Accessories', 'System tools',
but a much faster and more effective one I use, can be downloaded from www.auslogics.com then 'products' tab, then 'disk defrag' or copy and paste this link into your web browser, http://www.auslogics.com/en/software/disk-defrag/download/ After you have installed it, use the option 'Defrag and optimise'.
You should notice a difference in your pc's speed generally.
Also download and try 'CCleaner' from www.piriform.com Install it and run it exactly as it is, don't tick all the unticked boxes, it's set up for most users from the word 'go'. I use this one almost daily. Hope this helps.

A:DVD burning extremely slow

Hm, if both your hard drive and your DVD burner are running slow, I would suggest maybe looking into flashing the BIOS of your motherboard? Both the HD and the DVD are hooked up by SATA, correct?

A few things to test here: Transferring data from the computer to an external drive seems slow, try transferring data the same way in Safe Mode, see if it speeds up any, if it does, I would say some type of software is slowing it down.

Could try replacing the SATA cables, or if you have more then 2 SATA ports on the board, if they are not already spaced out, try spacing them farther apart(Though I do not see this as a soloution, you can always try it)

One other thing you could try if you believe it might be software/registry related rather then hardware is do a Recovery to a date/time previous to when you experienced this problem, see if that helps any,

I have a dell studio 1747 laptop, refurbished. It is sitting at ~70c when doing basic tasks, after a bit of gaming it has peaked at 97c. All these temps are from HWmonitor laptop is running windows 7 ultimate. Am I going to fry my cpu? Should I rip it apart and replace the fan? Is this a decent temp for an i7? From what I have read no processor should really go above like 70ish under FULL load.

A:Core i7-720 running extremely hot

i7s (and nearly all other nahelem processors) will run hotter than previous generations of quad-core cpus, especially inside a laptop. i don't think you have too much to worry about, but if you have access to the processor without to much disassembly you may want to consider applying a more conductive thermal compound, to suppress the heat a bit more. you may also want to check if the cooling fan is working properly like you said.

What is the age of the computer or hard drive. I will also be useful to know your configuration, OS, security software, computer brand and model.
The usual cause of severe computer slowdowns is a failing hard drive.
The next, and most difficult reason is one or more infestations.
Since you have HiJack This, we assume you also have run recent scans of good security software. What did they tell you?

I have got an IBM PC 300GL 6563-64G computer, I've been thinking of upgrading it a bit and maybe using it for some older games or video processing in my country house.

It has an Intel Pentium III 533 MHz CPU (slot 1), 128 of SDRAM (max of 1GB), I couldn't get the mobo, but the chipset is made by VIA. Supports AGP 4x (currently Ati Rage Fury 128 with 32mb of video memory). The HDD is a 13gb Fujitsu (ATA-66 I suppose).

I know that none of these parts are manufactured right now. But I wonder if it is possible to find any (the best possible), and how much would they approximately cost?

Hello, I hope i can get a help please
I have an Intel D865PERL MB with Intel 3.2GHz CPU with an 80GB IDE drive
I recently bought a Maxtori Dameonmax20 160GB SATA Drive
I used Acronus Tru Image 10 to clone the IDE to SATA. It did very well. I did not have any problem adding the SATA using Acronus to WinXP.
BUT, when I run the SATA alone, it works ok although the speed did not make a big difference comparing to the IDE however, when I connect the old IDE as Master or Slave, primary or secondary, with SATA on 1.5GB/s or 3GB/s
The system goes extremely slow and windows takes ages to boot

Any hint please?

Thanks

A:SATA and IDE Extremely Slow!

Believe it or not......

The SATA may not be much faster than pata, since the newer PATA interfaces are almost as fast as Sata 1, (ATA 133/ SATA 150).
Do you still have the OS on the first drive?

A:Extremely tight budget: Upgrading 5-year old eMachines to play newer games

Hi man,
I'd get an Athlon 64 3000+, then a Radeon X800 card, and a good, cheap 939 mobo, like THIS ONE. MicroATX, even SLI support (for future upgrades), and great EVGA brand.

And finally, a cheap 512MB Corsair Value Select RAM (1GB highly recommended), and a fast 80GB 7200RPM Western Digital IDE HDD.

I know people have talked about boot times of 3 minutes or more but I have a very unusual problem. My PC (1.8gz P4) hangs at the bios flash screen for minutes upon minutes and takes HOURS to reboot but then comes up and works fine. My best guess it's a memory or battery issue but I don't know how to get rid of the flash screen to acutally see what's going on and I can't find the motherboard manual. (Due to the time it spends at the flash screen I don't think it's a windows issue.) Also this started a few weeks ago and I didn't change anything hardwarewize.
Any idea?? It might be time to just spend the $$$ and replace it.
Thanks!

If its a bios battery problem then the time and date should be wrong. Also, download speedfan from the downloads section as it can read bios battery voltage.

Hello all!

I'm looking for a case that has great ventilation. An 80mm front fan and a 120mm back fan won't cut it, I'm looking for something big and ventilated.

I've looked all around, but I can't find anything like this. So I'm going to rely on you guys to suggest such a case to me based on the following:

ATX Mid Tower or Tower
Lots of fans, positioned in a way that allow a lot of airflow.
Budget is 150$, less is great. More... not so great. We'll see.
I also like those 250mm fan cases...

Also, it doesn't need to have a powersupply. I'm just looking for a case to move my stuff into.

Thanks!

A:RAID0, moved PC, wont boot, extremely slow, bad sectors! HELP!

The hard drive is going bad, the do die without smoke and noise sometimes You can throw the WD diagnostic utility at it if you like to be sure.

As for salvaging your data, you just have to copy the files that are still intact. If there aren't too many bad sectors, then it can be done in your lifetime Some other program than Windows Explorer is a good idea. I'd recommend FAR manager or the DOS copy commands that let you ignore bad sectors.

Hello and welcome to Techspot!

We need to back up a bit first. Open up your case and have a look.

When the system is not turned on, there is an LED light on your board. Can you see it? What color is it? When you hit the power button, tell us EXACTLY what happens. Any fans spinning? Does the color of that light change? Any beeps from the system?

Did you connect the power connector to your graphics card?

How many watts is your PSU (and what make is it)?

Tell us some more about your ram. What size and speed are the ram? How many sticks?

I just bought a 3000+ AMD 64, and its runnin at 126 degrees C. Im going to shut it off now, but I was just wondering what could be causing this? My heatsync is on just fine and it has that pad on the bottom of it!....Please help

Well the Cpu temp programs I use both say 126 degrees C, but when I restart the computer and go into the bios real quick, it says 52 degrees C. Are these programs reliable? Or is something wrong? The fan is working fine, and the heat sync is on really really tight like it should be. It even has a thermal pad (I know they aren't the best, but I didnt have any artic stuff on me). Are these programs not reliable? Or could my computer really be THAT hot idling in windows?

This sounds like a driver issue but I don't know: Basically, the problem is that Direct3D based games (Half-Life 2/3DMark05) hang-up on my machine. It renders a few frames but then freezes for about 30 seconds...renders a few more frames...freezes 30 secs and so on. OpenGL (Doom 3), on the other hand, runs just fine. I've upgraded to the latest ForceWare driver (I even tried using the uncertified ForceWare 71.20 from guru3d). I've flashed my BIOS and upgraded my chipset driver all to no avail. Nothing on my system is overclocked...unless it's a factory overclock I don't know about. Is there any way a hardware glitch on my video card would produce Direct3D problems but not affect OpenGL?

System specs:
EVGA gForce 6800 Ultra Extreme Edition
MSI K8N Neo2 (nForce 3 Ultra)
Athlon 3500+
1 gig of OCZ EL DDR PC-3200 Platinum Revision 2
WD 740GD Raptor
Turbo-Cool 425 Deluxe

Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure your computer fan is working and isn't clogged with dust. Also check your heat sync inside your computer to see if it's covered in dust. If you see any dust inside your computer remove it, it's heats best friend. Also, make sure your comp is in a well ventilated space.

Ever since I installed the new drivers for my ati, i seem to get extremely low fps on counterstrike. Ive tried all the tweaks I could find for halflife/cs and for my video card, ive tried all the resolutions possible for it. It occurs in both opengl and direct3d mode. The frames drop to like 15 fps when someone walks in front of me or when there is lots of action. I cant go back to the old drivers cause i dont remember which one they were and cant seem to get any of the older drivers to work. If anyone have any ideas of any drivers or tweaks or anything that will work, please help me!

A:Extremely Low FPS with ATI AiW Radeon

First you might want to try and reduce the AGP aperature size in the bios to something lower like 64MB or even 32MB. If this doesn't help try going from AGP 4x down to 2x and see what happens. I read a review a couple of days ago that compared AGP 4x, 2x, and 1x and the differences were very few and subtle. Very small differences in FPS were seen. I'll try and find it again and post it here.

Next, you might want to try reinstalling both OpenGL and DirectX. This has helped some people in the past with their problem. Or trying running dxdiag throught the Run command and tabbing through the boxes until you find under the display tab the ability to enable or disable Direct 3D Acceleration. Try disabling and the reenabling this feature.

Here is a couple of links to some drivers that might help you out:

http://www.voodoofiles.com/type.asp?cat_id=2

http://www.rage3d.com/files/drivers/radeon.shtml

http://www.guru3d.com/files/ati/

This should help with your installation of the drivers:

http://www.ati.com/support/installation/radeon/win2k/radeoninstallwin2k.html

As far as a complete uninstallation of the drivers I'm not sure how to do that as I've never owned an ATI. I'm sure someone else here knows how to though. I would try uninstalling it from the Control Panel first, then doing a search for ati and see if anything comes up. Also, try looking ,after you did the Control Panel uninstall, in your Windows directory and see if there are any files still left from the old ATI drivers.

Hope some of this helps!!! If you need any more help I'll try my best to assist you.

It would be worth doing a 'sfc' on your system, if only to rule out any simple O/S issues there might be. It's a built-in Windows routine so there's no danger of it causing any more problems, totally safe.
It goes; 'Start' key + X
Press A
New box appears, choose 'Yes'
New box appears; Type; sfc /scannow
(Be sure to put a space after sfc)
You can carry on using the pc while it runs, about 15 mins, when finished close the text box, nothing more to do, Windows will have done any repairs needed.

Hello, I have an Acer Aspire 3610 Laptop which i have had for about 3 years and have had no problems untill now. When i start the laptop it takes ages to come to my desktop, once i reach my desktop it then takes about 5 minutes to load up my icons (which it never used to).

When i try to open anything up it just takes forever and i cant even open the start menu. If i open it in safe mode it works fine and i have cleared out some of my folders and uninstalled programs i dont use, but it doesn't seem to have made a difference.

Can any help or have any ideas i can try?

Thanks.

A:Extremely Slow Laptop on XP

Lots of different things can cause this. The hard part for you is that your laptop is slow to doing anything process intensive will take a lot of time!

First, did the problem suddenly happen one day? If so, I would have recommended System Restore but you mentioned you uninstalled programs so it won't work now.

Let's try Safe Mode and see what the response is (i.e. speed) Boot into Safe Mode and report back how fast it is.

I went to my computer today, and it froze up. On attempt to open task manager, I got the blue screen and shut it down. When I started it up again, it took close to 45 minutes to an hour for it to start up fully. Explorer.exe brought up error messages constantly, then I also got a few from adobe, WerFault, and several AVG messages. Its finally up and running, and I was able to access the internet. I'm currently running a malware scan, but I doubt it will fix very much. I'm literally afraid to restart my computer again.

Ideas?
Thanks.

A:Extremely slow startup, explorer.exe running slowly and crashing

Yes, first as you state don't shut it down. Leaving it run won't hurt it, just shut off your monitor when you are finished for the evening.

Second, have you done any recent updating of drivers, etc.? If I read you correctly this is the first time this has happened, right?

How to find and post your Minidump Files:

My Computer > C Drive > Windows Folder > Minidump Folder > Minidump Files.

It is these files that we need (not the folder). Attach to your next post the five most recent dumps. Notice the Manage Attachments button at the bottom when you go to post the next time. You can Zip up to five files per Zip; if you only have one or two you don?t need to zip them, just attach as is. Please do us a favor and don?t Zip each one individually.

A:My computer lags extremely when playing only certain games

Have these games ever worked ok on your system?
Or has this just happened recently?

If they have worked before
Then first run CCleaner (to clean up all the temp junk stuff, taking up room - and resource)

Update your graphics card drivers from your manufacture website
And also run a Memtest scan on your installed Ram.

If they have never worked before
Do you have the minimum required specs of hardware (actually Minimum is always too low)
Have you installed the most up to date DirectX drivers
Have you tried re-installing the games

Also be aware that there are many updates happening all the time on Windows computers, including Java; Security Updates; Antivirus and many others
Therefore your system is always changeing over time.

Just for interest though, what AntiVirus software do you use?

One last thought
It may have been better to post this in the Gaming and Consoles forum, the members there have a better understanding of why some games don't work.

Check to see if your CD is scratched. If so, buff it with a avery soft cloth in a circular motion around the CD. Don't over do it.
How old is the hard drive? It may be worn out as Windows 2000 was 7 years ago.
Give us the date code off the hard drive, the model numbers off the motherboard.
Once Windows XP is installed, you can Install Word from the Works disk set.
Install Word by being sure the disk is clean and not badly scratched, then inserting after Windows is installed, and all the updates are downloaded from Windows Updates.

When trying to open a .doc, .xls,.pdf, even a .txt file, the corresponding program takes almost 2 minutes to open the document. Disconnecting the network cable, the documents open almost immediately. I disconnected all mapped drives, no icons on taskbar point to network drives,...

What's causing the slowdown?

A:Windows Explorer extremely slow to open ANY document

What sort of a Network are you on? Or is this just your cable connection network?
Are you certain no processes are running in the background such as a virus or spyware scan? Has this been happening for a number of days?

Sounds like you may have a dying hard drive.

Run the manufacturers diagnostic utility on the drive.

Laptop start a program up and if i am installing anything it is very bad i mean i cant use anything else at all if i m installing Also the sound is well dont know how to explain it kinda laggy i would say sorry i am not the best at describing these things but i also noticed it takes FOREVER to boot up like a couple minutes at least where as before i ran the recovery disk it Laptop Running EXTREMELY poorly. would be up in a matter of seconds max attached is a HJT log thing that has me worried is i ran AVG anti virus and it says boot sector result infection as quot Change quot as well as kernel and shell but when it finishes it says everything is clean but anyways any and all help would be appreciated nbsp

A:Laptop Running EXTREMELY poorly.

Try going through msconfig (Start - Run - Type: msconfig (Hit Enter)) and select the boot.ini tab. Tick the /SOS checkbox and reboot your laptop. Note if your PC hangs on any system file during start-up.
While you are in msconfig, you could also try disabling and start-ups and services that aren't necessarily important.

Post back with how you go.

It may be a dirty or scratched CD and have nothing to do with the computer.

As long as you have the product key for your version of XP, you can use any CD to install it.

Our internet has become really slow in the last few days Mbps tops It was internet slow over is extremely The wireless cable and/or never very good but it has become so poor lately that we got our telco Telstra to send out a technician to test our line Before he came we took our modem to a friend s house and checked that it worked with a wireless dvice there and it was fine The technician came out and he connected his computer directly to the internet and he got Mbs so it was not the line that was at fault We found while he was there that if we did not have the wifi turned on our computers worked fine He said there was a problem with a one of the mobile devices that must have a The internet is extremely slow over wireless and/or cable virus or a program running in the background using the bandwidth When he left we tried to turn on the wifi on the modem but even with with all our devices turned off the internet slows down including those computers on cable to the above Mbs It seems just turning the modem s wifi on slows the flow of data Because of this we thought this must be a modem problem so we bought a new one This one behaves exactly the same or even worse than the old one as now not even the cabled computers work quickly even with the wifi switched off So far we have spent on a telco technician and on a new good modem and still the problem persists As we are a business that runs on the internet this is a disaster for us We don t know who else to get in to fix it or if there is anything we can do to fix it ourselves Any ideas please nbsp

A:The internet is extremely slow over wireless and/or cable

Let's draw out the connections between the devices (you cut/edit to make this correct)

ISP==the modem --- a router --- some pcs -- (any daisy chained to others??) --- pcs

Add a wifi router if you have a second router.

I hope this is the right place to put this Because I don't know what the exact problem is--whether hardware or software I thought I'd start here So then like the title says my computer is extremely slow for around minutes to an hour every day This happens after the weekend when I turn it on after it was completely off for the to start-up minutes day... slow every for an is upon extremely 30 hour Windows 7 weekend and happens every morning during the week when I start it up from sleep mode After that initial start-up it works just fine for the most part It's nothing fancy but I'm able to work from it It only has GB of RAM so I know it's lacking an immense prowess but I don't understand why the start-up is so bad I looked at what I have on start-up via WinPatrol but found nothing particularly interesting And even then it's only about or programs Can anything be done or is it just the computer Where can I start Thank you all very much

Hi y?all,
Lately i have been dealing with a lot of under performance of my notebook. The cause of that is of all the ads which are constantly popping up while browsing.
Therefore, I have been searching the web for tips and tricks/solutions to get a rid of these pop ups, however with no success.
So now I found this new forum page, and my question is: How can I get a rid of these pop ups and boost up my notebook (i7 processor) performance. Should I reset my laptop and restore to factory settings?
Thanks
Milton

I am working on a customer's Vista Home Premium desktop. This desktop has a dual-core AMD Athlon 64 x2 4200+processor with 1 GB RAM. It is a 32-bit OS. It takes, at minimum, 5-10 minutes just to fully load the desktop upon startup. I have already scanned with MBAM and with AVG 2015 and it doesn't have any viruses or malware anymore. I have disabled many of the unnecessary startup programs but it still takes forever to finish the bootup. It also freezes up when scanning in normal mode with either program even after having removed the PUP's and two Trojans that MBAM found. It locks up whenever I try to open a program or delete a file as well. I ran CCleaner and it removed 250 MB of junk from temporary files and temp internet files and that was all.

I know something is wrong with it. I am at a loss of what else to do. Any help would be appreciated.

A:Extremely slow Vista Home Premium

Hi Falneth What's wrong with this desktop is that it uses one of the worst Windows OS ever made, with a low profile CPU and RAM. I wouldn't expect much from it, but I can take a quick look.MiniToolBoxDownload MiniToolBox and move the executable file to your Desktop;Execute MiniToolBox and check the following options:List Installed Programs;List Last 10 Event Viewer Errors;List Devices - Only Problems;List Users, Partitions and Memory size;Once this is done, click on Go and wait for the scan to complete;Once the scan is complete, a log will open. Please copy/paste the content of the output log in your next reply;Speccy - Publish a snapshotFollow the instructions below to download and install Speccy, then to publish a snapshot of your system information:Download and install Speccy from Piriform (the download will start automatically a few seconds after clicking on the Speccy link);Note: You can opt-out the Google Toolbar installation if you want;Once Speccy is installed, launch the program and give it a good minute to load all your system information;After that, click on the File menu in the top left corner, and select Publish Snapshot;A window will appear asking you to confirm your decision to publish a snapshot. Click on Yes;A new window will appear after, with a URL link to your snapshot. Click on Copy to Clipboard button to copy that URL to your clipboard, then paste it in your next reply and post it;

About two months ago I purchased a Dell Inspiron 7548.  It has 8 gb of ram and 1tb harddrive. It is continually getting slower and slower, particularly while browsing.  I am unable to stream a simple video and loading a web page takes as long as a few minutes.  The issue exists on multiple connections (home, work, my sister's house) and doesn't appear to have any correlation to the speed of the connection.  I have run virus and malware scans and have not had any infections. I am at my wit's end on this as I spent a decent amount of money for this laptop and it is by far the slowest I've ever had.  Thanks in advance for any help.

A:2 Month old computer extremely slow!!! Please help!

Several possible causes. Tell us what programs you have used to find adware and malware.

Use CCleaner to remove Temporary files, program caches, cookies, logs, etc. Use the Default settings. No need to use the
Registry Cleaning Tool...risky. Pay close attention while installing and UNcheck offers of toolbars....especially Google.
After install, open CCleaner and run by clicking on the Run Cleaner button in the bottom right corner.
CCleaner - PC Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download

After running CCleaner...post the three lists mentioned below using CCleaner:

Open CCleaner and click on Tools. Choose Startups. On that page you will see a list of Windows Startups and at the top tabs for each browser and Scheduled Tasks.
At the bottom right of that page you will see a button when clicked will allow you to Copy and Paste the list of Windows Startups and Scheduled Tasks into your next
post. Please do that.

Open CCleaner and click on Tools. Choose Uninstall. On that page you will see a list of programs installed on your computer and at the bottom right of that page you
will see a button when clicked will allow you to Copy and Paste that list in your next post. Please do that.

Now that you have properly posted a malware log topic, you should NOT make further changes to your computer (install/uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc) unless advised by a MRT Team member, nor should you ask for help elsewhere. Doing so can result in system changes which may not show in the log you already posted. Further, any modifications you make on your own may cause confusion for the helper assisting you and could complicate the malware removal process which would extend the time it takes to clean your computer.
From this point on, the MRT Team should be the only members that you take advice from, until they have verified your log as clean. Please be patient. It may take a while to get a response because the MRT Team members are EXTREMELY busy working logs posted before yours. They are volunteers who will help you out as soon as possible. Once you have made your post and are waiting, please DO NOT make another reply until it has been responded to by a member of the MRT Team. Generally the staff checks the forum for postings that have 0 replies as this makes it easier for them to identify those who have not been helped. If you post another response there will be 1 reply. A team member, looking for a new log to work may assume another MRT Team member is already assisting you and not open the thread to respond.
It may take several days to get a response but your log will be reviewed and answered as soon as possible. I advise checking your topic once a day for responses as the e-mail notification system is unreliable. If HelpBot replies to your topic, PLEASE follow Step One so it will report your topic to the team members.
To avoid confusion, I am closing this topic.

Hello, I'm looking for help solving numersious issues with my HP Pavilion 21 (touch). Purchsed 2 months ago, this machine runs extremely slow, memory usage is always around 60% or greater, windows updates and other updates are a chore. There's more than 80% of free space on the 1T hard-drive. I've loaded every rootkit remover, anti-virus, system optimizer, etc listed here with minmal results. I've even done a complete restore/refresh with no success. There are a million pre-installed games that are always running in the background, when trying to unistalling them the computer crashes. Today I had some help from a Microsoft tech which he just left me with a list of possible corrupted system files that I'm unable to repair. Anyway, it's not like me to whine for help on a forum, but I'm at that point of getting rid of this computer. Any suggestions greatly apprciated as this is my workstation.

A:Brandnew Computer extremely slow and updates don't work

Welcome to BC !

Curious as to why you would have nearly 200 GB of stuff on a 2 month old computer....did you download a lot of movies, music, etc or did you move a lot of files from an external drive
to the new one?

Using programs that claim to speed up or clean the registry are at least unnecessary and at most dangerous. I would not ever recommend any of those programs.

Suggest since system files are known to be corrupted or missing then I would suggest backing up any important data and then do a clean install using the recovery software installed on your computer. If you need help doing that then ask. If you have done a clean install and nothing improved then I suggest you find out what is needed to
get the computer repaired while under warranty.

A:Pen for HP Pavilion 130 x360

Unless I'm missing something, this is a touch screen which you use your finger to navigate rather than a mouse.  If you are more comfortable using a mouse you can use a usb type with the laptop.  I personally don't know anyone who uses a stylus on a laptop touch screen.

Just out of curiosity, where did you read that you needed to use a "pressure pen"?

Hey everyone,

I bought a Lenovo Y510P laptop yesterday and it is extremely slow. It takes quite long to start up, simple tasks such as opening the control panel will freeze it for a about 30seconds. I haven't dared putting any demanding software on it (apart from Chrome and McAfee (paid subscription)).  My 6-year old Toshiba P300-17R is faster, which is completely ridiculous. I have no idea why it is this slow. Could anyone point me in the right direction for fixing this annoying problem?

Thanks so much!

(p.s. I wasn't sure in which sub category to put this and I thought it might be a Windows 8 problem - sorry if this is the wrong forum!)

A:Laptop Hard Disk to Hard Disk transfer Extremely Slow

My experience with file transfers of the type you describe...is that the number of files doesn't matter...what matters is how large the files are.  Video files take much longer than text or document files.

Slow transfer rates between partitions/drives...can indicate a problem with either the partititon or the drive, IMO.

I went to run a ChkDsk on my computer because I haven't in a long time, so I scheduled it for the C: drive and restarted.  That is when the troubles started.  The computer was extremely slow and never booted to check disk.  The computer will boot but now takes about 5 minutes, and once I am in windows everything is extremely laggy and slow.

So far I have restarted and re seated the RAM, popped out CMOS battery to reset MOBO, and currently running a Windows Memory Diag.

Never had any issues with it until today

Hi,
I'm a new guy here.
I've read a few things and tried them, but no improvement yet.

I have important church files on this drive, most of which I can recreate, but it would be a lot of work.
If i select this drive in Windows Explorer, it takes up to ten minutes just to show the directories.
If I try to copy a small file, it's running 70bytes/ sec. so e.g. it took ten minutes to copy 200kB!
I've tried uninstalling all the drivers, ran updater, ran updater troubleshooter,
I have a Toshiba Satellite, Win7, Norton AV, I have used Norton Utilities and it says the drive is fine!?

Any ideas where to look next? Or is the drive just got sick and dying?

A:Medion 8 Gb usb flash drive, recently got extremely slow!

Use Speccy and paste the log in the reply.

Now, to me, it seems like it is a processor error. In better words, it seems like the processor is either unable to handle the load that it is thrown on it. Or perhaps you are running too many applications, it's possible you have a malware. Can you copy other files (bigger than at least one MB) and paste them just fine?

Sometimes the blue screen shows up or my computer just freezes seconds after logging in; I tried safe mode but it froze while loading windows files; i Uses my windows disk and did a system restore, and I did not freeze immediately considering i have the time to write this msg.; ihave 3 mini dumps if you they can help.

A:Extremely frequent bsod.

Please download and run both speccy and who crashed:

We need to analyze your operating system's crash dump files to further diagnose what could possibly be crashing your computer system. Please download Who Crashed? and save it to your desktop.
Double click whocrashedSetup.exe and choose Run
On Windows Vista, 7, 8 and 8.1 machines, when User Account Control asks if you wish to install this program, say YES to install the program on your computer.
Program can also be installed by right click and choosing Run As An Administrator.
On the next screen choose Next and accept the agreement.
Install the program in it's default location C:\Program Files\WhoCrashed (If your primary drive is different from C:, choose your primary drive.)
Choose Next and allow program to create a Start Menu Folder called WhoCrashed and click Next.
Allow program to create desktop icon and click Next.
Now Click Install.
Once the program is installed on your computer system, look for the WhoCrashed desktop Icon and double click it.
Accept the User Account Control request and the program will open on your screen and should look something like this.
Next, Click the Analyze button.
An Information Window should appear on your screen prompting you to scroll down your screen.
If a report was generated we would like to have a look at this report.
To do this, click File and then choose Export.
Save as WhoCrashedOutput.htm to your desktop.
Open WhoCrashedOutput.htm and copy and paste all of the contents from System Information (local) and Crash Dump Analysis and the Conclusion into your next reply.

Go to Piriform's website, and click the big button.

Next, click Download from Piriform.com (the FileHippo link requires an extra click). Or if you want to use a portable version of Speccy (which doesn't require installation), click the builds page link and download the portable version.

You will now be asked where you want to save the file. The best place to put it is the Desktop, as it will be easy to find later.

After the file finishes downloading, you are ready to run Speccy. If you downloaded the installer, simply double-click on it and follow the prompts until installation is complete. If you downloaded the portable version, you will need to unzip it before use. Right-click the ZIP file and click Extract all. Click Next. Open up the extracted folder and double-click on Speccy.

Once inside Speccy, it will look similar to this (with your computer's specifications, of course):
Now, at the top, click File > Publish Snapshot
You will see the following prompt:
Click Yes > then Copy to Clipboard
Now, once you are back in the forum topic you are posting in, click the button. Right-click in the empty space of the Reply box and click Paste. Then, click Add Reply below the Reply box.
Congrats! You have just posted your specs!

My laptop all of a sudden is extremely slow and it keeps either restarting or randomly shuts down. I scanned for malware and found nothing. Also I cant seem to update Microsoft security update that it is telling me I need. Whenever I try the update fails. I don't know if this is part of the issue but whenever I try to watch a video in chrome it crashes constantly. I'm at a loss for what's wrong. I haven't downloaded anything new so I don't know why it just started acting soo slow.

A:Extremely slow boot+other explorer issues

I suggest we check the hd and ram. If the problem persists, you might want to then post in the "Am I Infected" forum on this site.To run checkdisk, right-click on a command prompt icon and open as administrator. In the command prompt window type: chkdsk /r (then press ENTER). You'll be told the disk is in use and asked if you want to run checkdisk on the next boot. Say yes, exit the command prompt window, and reboot. To check the ram, download memtest (http://memtest.org/). Burn it to a cd using a dedicated .iso burning utility (http://www.petri.co.il/how_to_write_iso_files_to_cd.htm), make sure the cd drive is at the top of the boot order in bios, then boot to the newly created cd and run the utility.

basically when I startup or reboot the computer it takes around 5-10 minutes just to get to the windows loading screen. It seems like everything shows up really slow starting with the emchines splash screen, loading Realtek boot agent, boot from ACPI CDRom, followed by a bunch of white loading progress bars, which just hangs there for ages. once it gets to the windows loading screen it resumes normal speed and everything seems fine from there.

A:Computer running WinXP extremely slow

It should run Linux Mint 13 "Mate" fine & it'll be faster than XP & is supported until sometime in 2017. Keeping in mind that support for XP is over come April 8, you need to make a decision, to protect yourself. Linux Mint 13 is a full fledged OS & has Libre Office included, all for free. Just make sure that you download Mint 13 & nothing newer,

Can you upgrade the RAM any? That would boost performance a bit, but it's not mandatory,

However, if you plan to continue to run Windows, it's time for a new computer, as neither Windows 7 nor 8 will run on it. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but someone had to be.

Best of Luck,
Cat

I'm running Windows XP with SP3 installed. The computer is running extremely slow, taking about 5 minutes to completely boot up.  Also, I am getting a random pop up asking me to install a "software update", but it doesn't say what the software is.  It is definitely not a Windows update, I have no clue what it is.

I have run a complete scan with Malware Bytes and it came up with no infections found.  I'm sure there is something going on, I'm just not sure how to trouble shoot it.  Any help that anyone can offer is much appreciated.

Thanks,

John

Hi & to Bleeping Computer Forums!
My name is Jürgen and I will be assisting you with your Malware related problems.
Before we move on, please read the following points carefully:
My native language isn't English. So please do not use slang or idioms. It could be hard for me to read. Thanks for your understanding.
Please read my instructions completely. If there is anything that you do not understand kindly ask before proceeding.
Perform everything in the correct order. Sometimes one step requires the previous one.
If you have any problems while you are follow my instructions, Stop there and tell me the exact nature of your problem.
If you have illegal/cracked software, cracks, keygens, etc. on the system, please remove or uninstall them now!
Do not run any other scans without instruction or Add/ Remove Software unless I tell you to do so. This would change the output of our tools and could be confusing for me.
Post all Logfiles as a reply rather than as an attachment unless I specifically ask you. If you can not post all logfiles in one reply, feel free to use more posts.
If I don't hear from you within 5 days from this initial or any subsequent post, then this thread will be closed.
If I don't reply within 24 hours please PM me!
Stay with me. I will give you some advice about prevention after the cleanup process. Absence of symptoms does not always mean the computer is clean.

Ran by Jacob (ATTENTION: The logged in user is not administrator)
Step 1
Start FRST with administator privileges.
Make sure the following option is checked:
Press the Scan button.
When finished, FRST will produce two logs (FRST.txt and Addition.txt) in the same directory the tool was run from.
Please copy and paste these logs in your next reply.

A:Computer extremely slow, BSOD, IE settings change

Hello  N.E., Welcome to Bleeping Computer.
My name is fireman4it and I will be helping you with your Malware problem.

Please take note of some guidelines for this fix:
Refrain from making any changes to your computer including installing/uninstall programs, deleting files, modifying the registry, and running scanners or tools.
If you do not understand any step(s) provided, please do not hesitate to ask before continuing.
Even if things appear to be better, it might not mean we are finished. Please continue to follow my instructions and reply back until I give you the "all clean".
In the upper right hand corner of the topic you will see a button called Follow This Topic.I suggest you click it and select Immediate E-Mail notification and click on Follow This Topic. This way you will be advised when we respond to your topic and facilitate the cleaning of your machine.

Finally, please reply using the Post  button in the lower right hand corner of your screen. Do not start a new topic. The logs that you post should be pasted directly into the reply, unless they do not fit into the post.
I will be analyzing your log. I will get back to you with instructions.  1.Please download Powelikscleaner (by ESET) and save it to your Desktop.Double-click ESETPoweliksCleaner.exe to start the tool.Read the terms of the End-user license agreement and click Agree if you agree to them. The tool will run automatically. If the cleaner finds a Poweliks infection, press the Y key on your keyboard to remove it.If Poweliks was detected "Win32/Poweliks was successfully removed from your system" will be displayed. Press any key to exit the tool and reboot your PC.The tool will produce a log in the same directory the tool was run from. Please copy and paste the log in your next reply. 2.Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode and save to your Desktop.Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool .Click on the Scan button.AdwCleaner will begin to scan your computer. After the scan has finished...Click on the Clean button.Press OK when asked to close all programs and follow the onscreen prompts.Press OK again to allow AdwCleaner to restart the computer and complete the removal process. After rebooting, a logfile report (AdwCleaner[S#].txt) will open automatically (where the largest value of # represents the most recent report).Copy and paste the contents of that logfile in your next reply.A copy of that logfile will also be saved in the C:\AdwCleaner folder. 3.PLease run FRST as you did the first time you ran it and post the new FRST.txt.

If you fix your PC by yourself, this can be very risky! Please stay in contact with me until your problem is resolvedAs Malware may not be totally removed in one session or in one day, please stay in contact with me until the problem is resolved. Please don't run any other tools without consulting with me as this can complicate finding and removing all MalwareDon't run any tools while I'm fixing your PC. A:Extremely slow performance and some infections!

Hi Catloverx2,
My name is OCD. I would be more than happy to take a look at your log and help you with solving any malware problems you might have. Logs can take a while to research, so please be patient and know that I am working hard to get you a clean and functional system back in your hands. I'd be grateful if you would note the following:
I will be working on your Malware issues, this may or may not, solve other issues you have with your machine.
The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for the issues on this machine.
Please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine appears to be clear. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.
It's often worth reading through these instructions and printing them for ease of reference.
If you don't know or understand something, please don't hesitate to say or ask!! It's better to be sure and safe than sorry.
Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
Copy and Paste logs directly into the reply window. DO NOT attach the logs unless specifically instructed to do so.
IMPORTANT NOTE : Please do not delete, download or install anything unless instructed to do so.DO NOT use any TOOLS such as Combofix or HijackThis fixes without supervision. Doing so could make your system inoperable and could require a full reinstall of your Operating System and losing all your programs and data.
Please stay with this topic until I let you know that your system appears to be "All Clear"Important: All tools MUST be run from the Desktop.=========================
With that being said, I think the primary problem can be determined by looking at the computer's specs
Processor: Intel® Celeron® M CPU 530 @ 1.73GHz
Percentage of memory in use: 91%Total physical RAM: 502.12 MB
Available physical RAM: 44.38 MB
Total Pagefile: 1670.12 MB
Available Pagefile: 547.49 MB
Total Virtual: 2047.88 MB
Available Virtual: 1908.92 MB
Programs are very diffferent today then they were just a few years ago. Unfortunately, this computer just does not have the necessary amount of RAM (Random Access Memory) to function at a comfortable level.
We can still run some scans and see if there is any malware present. But I doubt we can make any changes that will make this machine run at a pace as it has in the past.
In your last reply you posted the Addition.txt log twice. The FRST.txt log should be located on your Desktop, please post that in your next reply. Also, if you still have the AdwCleaner log post that as well.

I hope this is in the right place!
I have an older computer, pentium 4, gigabyte motherboard, 3gb ram. Not really sure of all the specs its a family members computer. Basically if i try and boot it to the OS sometimes it'll work but most of the time it'll just freeze up and do nothing. when it does load its extremely slow, slower then even this hardware should be. Trying to reinstall the OS from a USB but all USB's load way to slow to use. I've had this problem before and in the past it's been a damaged HDD but this HDD boots and works fine in other computers and other HDDs that i know are fine don't work.
Not sure what else could be the cause, what else should i try?

I have older computers with this problem come in all the time. Most of the time it's adware/spyware loading on boot that slows the computer almost to a standstill. This is typical especially if there are adolescents in the house that download "free" games off the internet, and PUPs & adware come with them.
Before we tear in to an analysis of the components, run some free cleanup tools that are powerful, but safe to use:
Go Here and download and run, in this order (scroll down the page):
> Rkill
> Adwcleaner
> JRT

Go Here and download Malwarebytes Free version AV: Choose the free version (Left, gray column, download button at the bottom)
** Bottom of the download page: note the link to the uninstaller provided by Malwarebytes.org for removal after the scan and cleaning is done.
You will get an ominous warning message that your free trial will end in one hour, pay no attention. The free version will start to run,
allow it to run and remove all it finds (if anything). Click on the Scan tab to see progress. Then use the removal tool provided to clear it off your system.
