I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi all, I have the X1 Carbon 2016 (20FB) and it is running Windows 10 Enterprise. I have all the lastest Windows and Lenovo updates. It all works pretty well except when it comes to starting back from sleep mode. I have the laptop configured to go to sleep when I close the lid. However when I reopen the lid, the power button and keyboard lights come on but the display stays off. Opening and closing the several times doesn't help. The only way to get the display to turn on is to quickly press the power button. This puts the laptop to sleep. If I press the power button again the laptop comes back to life and the display works again. Anyone else have this issue? Any possible solutions? Thanks,Ian

Hello! I have made many driver pachages and image loads of lenovo pc, but i cant figure this one out. I think I have spent 4 hours of researching and I have realised I need to put down my pride. I need help. Using:Sccm 2007.WinPe 3.1 I'm using the Onelink+ pro usb to RJ45 adapter to get ethernet. It says it supports PXE. We use winpe 3.1 and want to deploy Win7.I have added all the drivers from Lenovo sccm pachage. I have turned "only legacy" in the bios. I have added the USB3 Exstension driver to both the image and WinPE. I get to download the Winpe and start it up. It have an IP and shows activity untill it start Winpe and check connectivity. Dear. X1 carbon users. I got a brand new X1 carbon 3rd gen and update to windows 10.But when I scroll up/down or move images, vertical lines are flickering all over the screen. Also, I can see these vertical lines flickering at the wall paper with gradations.I am not sure this is one of hardware problems because I update windows 10 righr after I got this.I updated recent intel graphics driver and all drivers using 'lenovo pc experience'.(Actually I tried to instal newest driver on intel website but failed because this is not a manufacturer's version.)Please let me know how I can fix this. Thank you.

Hi, We are having an issue with our X1 Carbon's(20FB). The audio output via an HDMI cable works, we see the Epson speakers in the playback devices. After the user is logged on for a while, the speakers will no longer showup in the playback devices and the auidio will just come through the laptops speakers. After we restart the computer, the audio will again work and play to the speakers. Windows 7 X64 Any help or thoughts on this is greatly appreciated.  Thanks,John

I recently got a X1 carbon 4th gen (20FB), and I have been super happy with its performance. However, it seems like whenever I have the laptop closed, the keyboard is leaving a mark on the screen. I sent it to repair, and they changed the screen, but that didn't seem to fix it. I noticed that the body and the lid are not perfectly aligned - one of the corners of the lid seems to be jutting out a little bit with respect to the rest of the body. I've attached picture to show this. I'm not sure if this is a part of the general design of the Carbon.  Can anyone with a X1 carbon 4th gen confirm that this alignment feature is not present in their machine? Thank you ?

Hi, I've got an X1 Carbon 20FB (4th gen), and noticed it doesn't have Lenovo System Update on it, which I've found useful in the past. So I went to the Lenovo downloads site and found System Update, but it doesn't list the 20FB as one of the X1 Carbons it supports - it only goes up to 20BS, 20BT: (See the "Note for ThinkPad X1 Carbon users") Should I avoid downloading System Update then? I've not noticed anything that's not functioning, but I figured it makes sense to keep things up to date from a security and features point of view. Why is it not included by default? Thanks for any advice!

Hi, does anyone know if there is a list of compatible embedded LTE chips that will work on a X1 Carbon 20FB?  The reason why I ask this is bec the current model, EM7455, only operates at some frequencies that some abroad contries do not support and the older models such as the EM7355 support those frequencies.  One being GSM.  I tired to install a EM7355 into my 20FB laptop but the bios isn't allowing it. Thanks!

A:X1 Carbon 20FB Embedded LTE Compatibility

EM7455 is versatile enough and supports a lot of 4G/LTE including LTE-A and 3G bands worldwide. It does not support 2G (GPRS/EDGE) access technology.

Hi, trying to get a Windows 7 Install done on a Carbon X1 2016 20FB w/ Samsung950 Pro. Bios 1.14 (latest as of May 2016)Special issue is, I need to get it done in a Legacy mode (BIOS,MFT style). I was able to install Win7 based on a win7 image that got the 950pro drivers and the USB3 drivers infused through NTLITE, and then I build an image with Rufus 2.9 (both UEFI/GPT and UEFI/MFT) worked, with the X1 BIOS was set up to UEFI only with CSM.BUT I need to to run on the BIOS setting 'Legacy' and in MFT style, b'cause the special Win7 installer I need to use does not support anything else. I know, sounds weird, but..... . So- is there a fundamental limitation against booting / installing a Win7 on a Carbon X1 2016 20FB - Samsung950 Pro in Legacy 7 MFT mode?

Hello, I have this problem for month now :I close my X1 Carbon lid before going to bed, and in the morning, when I resume it from hibernation, the trackapd and trackpoint are totally unresponsive. Everything else work fine, I just have to wait, sometimes 20/30sec, sometimes a whole minute, to have the trackpad working. This is very frustrating to have a computer resuming so fast from hibernation but being unable to use it. I have the latest BIOS (1.15), latest UltraNav driver ( several drivers uninstallation/reinstallation, several fresh windows install, problem is still present. Actually on a fresh install of Windows 10 64bit (Anniversary update).

I'm setting up a new X1 Carbon with machine type 20FB. It came with a Samsung MZNTY256HDHP SSD. I noted there was a recent SSD firmware update package for this laptop model, so I downloaded and ran the updater. It reported there were no updates. However, after digging a bit deeper, I discovered that the SSD firmware updater for the X1 Carbon 20A7/20A8/etc. DOES have an update for the SSD in this machine. What is going on here? Does this firmware update somehow only apply when the SSD is installed in a 20A7? Or did this particular model of SSD just get missed when Lenovo was putting together the firmware update package for the 20FB?

Hi, I updated my X1 Carbon 4th gen to 1.17 BIOS, and since then, opening the lid won't wake the computer from hibernation, except when plugged.Bios changelog states Disabled the power button when the computer is in battery mode and the
computer lid is closedbut when I read "power button", I don't think "this is gonna break the behavior of the lid". And of course, no rollback is possible from 1.17, so I'm stuck with a computer wich won't wake from hibernation correctly. I just can advise you all to not upgrade bios, and see what's inside the next version...

Hi, the power options sets that the display should turn off in X minutes. But it doesn't do it at all. Instead, the computer is locked and the display dimms.  I'm pretty sure that I have installed the latest monitor and graphic card driver. For testing it, I have also unplugged all USB devices.  What can still be the reason? Thanks!

Just got my brand new X1 Carbon (4gen 2016/20FB) with the 512 GB PCIe NVMe SSD (THNSN5512GPU7). Was expecting a blazing fast disk, but it felt sluggish something that AS SSD Benchmark confirms (see attachment). According to the specs this drive should offer up to 2400 Mb/s read and 1500 Mb/s write. But I get 1800 MB/s read and abysmal 113 MB/s write. The machine has all the latest updates from Lenovo (incl BIOS) and all the drivers for Windows 10. Anyone else tested their drives? Found a Dell XPS owner with the same drive that complained about the same issue. Turning off windows write cache buffer flushing does help, but that is not a good answer.

Just got my new computer so after upgrading from the old computer i decided to go and get allll those new games ive been missing out on. Load them all up and first one, QUAKE 4 looks gorgeous, graphics are fantastic and its running smooth as. Then the screen starts flickering, squares of colour/distortion appear randomly over the screen. However these squares dont transfer themselves to the sky or other stationary objects. Ive tried it with FarCry aswell and it still happens. Comp specs are:
nVidia 6600LE
WinFast graphics driver

Ive tried it with a different monitor as well and it still stuffs up. Running out of ideas as im about to install NVidia driver instead.

Just received my new X1 model#  20a70037-US last week and right out of the box the screen was already flickering. When the laptop is booting up in the POST screen you see a bunch of little white dots all over and as soon as you get to the windows login screen the flickering begins. Just like on this video I found online Did anyone have this issue? I uninstalled the Intel drivers and now it's flickers less and the laptop is somewhat usable. I should be recieving my replacement unit this week, can't wait to have this laptop working 100%.

Hi Marcelmaron,
Welcome to Lenovo Community!
As per your query we understood that you are facing issue with LCD flickering on ThinkPad X1 Carbon.

Please let us know have you checked it with booting the system into safe mode.
Check with connecting the system to External Monitor if the flicker occurs in that also.
Check with updating graphic driver and chipset application.

Below is the link to enter the downloads page and download latest application accordingly, please click on "Select Product" then in "QUICK PATH" enter the MTM no. select the exact model.
Hope this helps!

I normally use the X1 carbon with the display duplicated to a Dell monitor. This stopped working. Only the laptop display is now available, with the Dell monitor in the HDMI port not being recognised. The display on the laptop does not have the correct resolution and overflows the bottom of the screen. The display resolution cannot be changed (greyed out). Any suggestions on how to fix this?

i have an intel graphics card that came with the computer, the latest update of the intel 82845G, does this mean i wont be able to run the game?
do you need an nvidia or an ati graphics card?

It means you are screwed unless you buy a graphics card. Even then a 2 ghz with 512 of ram is going to have hell dealing with the game.

It is time to think about retiring your machine to internet/email/office only if you want to game.

Mine needs work, I am just waiting for a bigger upgrade than what is now possible. I am near the top.

Whenever I turn on one of our new 4th X1 laptops through the onelink+ dock I can't get any display on either of my screens (external and on the laptop). On some of them I'm able to enter our harddrive pwd, and then nothing happens, all screens go black, and nothing but the kill switch can get back the display. The monitor(s) do not go into power saving mode. This is on Windows 7 x64, with a std. clean image, and using the latest sccm driver package from Lenovo website + latest dock Onelink + dock driver. The issue also occurs on a manual clean install, using systemupdate to install all drivers.

From Lenovo there's no answer... Hi TheRealGMC, and welcome to the Lenovo User Community!
Yes the 45W power adapter does not support RapidCharge. For that you need 65W. I'm looking forward to the 65W Micro power adapter being available.
You are right, it's WiGiG OR WWAN, not both. This is what we were told at CES, and there was no indication that would change.
The PSREF seems to imply that the HUAWEI is a Western Europe (WE) only option. The Sierra card supports the faster LTE-A standard.
Hope this helps!

Symptoms: The laptop's screen randomly flickers, every 5 to 30 minutes. Hey guys.
This is really difficult to explain but i'll do my best.
When I load up my Laptop, occasionally it will display colours schemes to look like XP and not my colour scheme, but then if i click google chrome the top bar (right at the top) would be what an XP internet browser looks like and such and then it'll flicker for a bit until it comes back to my normal chrome bar (This isn't anything to do with chrome).
When I close all application that this is happening too it'll then go away and my PC will be normal.
Any advice?

In the Scheme box, click the color scheme you want.
If you want to define a custom color scheme, click a screen element in the Item box, and then click the color you want in the Color box.
NOTE: For screen elements that contain text, you can also specify a font style, size, and color.

Envy 2015 is not really a model we need to know the HP Model number: Sounds like a hardware issue I hate to say. Have you tried an external monitor? If the display is stable on an external then the problem has to be the screen panel itself of a connection to it.

I've had this monitor for two years and just yesterday (even though I didn't adjust any settings) it started to display flickering pixels in nearly every image file whether it be in my browser, or on my desktop. Nothing else flickers (that I can tell), just images.

It's not debilitating (pretty subtle, probably 5% or less of the image has randomized flickering pixels) but it's incredibly annoying.

Any help is appreciated!

A:Display problems: flickering / freezing

Hi and welcome to TSG.

This certainly sounds like an faulty inverter / backlight problem. I had the exact same problem on an old Fujitsu Seimens laptop... flickering screen which could be temporarily fixed by moving closing / reopening the lid. Over time it just got worse and worse until it eventually went totally.

Replaceing the inverter board (normally a pretty quick and easy fix) fixed the problem. If you have had it apart enough to check the connectors you shouldn't have a problem replacing the inverter board.

If it's possible, use another monitor and see if this issue is still there, that way you can rule out the monitor.

Monitors are much cheaper today, so replacing it with a better/newer one would be a good option

Hi exavior,

Welcome to the forum,

Check; That the graphic card is sitting properly. All connections are correct. That you are using all necessary power cables. Check the connections between card and monitor. That you have the latest Chipset drivers, That you have the latest bios

Try; using another slot for the Graphic card. If you are using DVI try using VGA or visa versa. Try using different plug combination's on the Graphic card and Monitor. Try using a different graphic card if you have one, or try your card in another computer, same for the monitor.

I hope this helps

A:Display flickering, need help spliting HDMI signal

No, as far as I've heard/read, you can't circumvent DMCA - HDMI either carries HD audio and video, or it just carries video and you have to output audio via toslink/stereo from your computer to your receiver.

Have you cleaned your receiver, ie: used compressed air to remove the dirt and dust? Have you considered sending it in for repair?

Hi all,
I've recently bought a Dell 7559 refurbished, with the Intel core i5 and GTX 960m. Within a day or two of use, the screen began to flicker upon booting up or waking from sleep mode, and it seems that the longer the laptop was in sleep/off mode, the worse the flickering is upon booting up. I've been trying to figure out what's going on, I've updated all drivers and such from the Dell support page, but nothing seems to fix this issue. Does anyone know what's going on? I'm certainly bummed out to have run into this issue within just days of buying the product. I've uploaded a youtube video to try and show what's going on.

A:Dell 7559 screen/display flickering issue

Hi DukeBaluk,
I’d suggest that you update BIOS on your computer to check for issue resolution. Please enter your service tag # on the link below, then download the BIOS from BIOS section onto the system and install it.
Also, we will have to perform the ‘LCD BIST’ (Built in Self-test) on the computer. Please follow the steps mentioned below to run the “LCD BIST’.

Turn of the computer.
Press and hold down the ‘D’ key on the keyboard and press the Power button.
You will see different colors on the LCD screen. Please check if the issue reoccurs on the screen.

In addition, please connect the system to an external monitor and check if the issue reoccurs.

I've got some minor problems but still I find them quite annoying.
When I'm running Win 7 my display is flickering. It just looks like bad reception on a TV station. When it gets too bad the display turns blak and after a second everything is fine and it starts all over again.

After a while Windows states that there is a problem with the Nvidia windows kernel mode driver, version 186.81 and that it has been restored. (This info is given after the screen turns black).

I think that there is a connection between those two problems but I don't know how to solve it.

I've got a nVidia Geforce 9650m GT grafics card and after I installed win 7 downloaded and installed the driver.

It is even worse when aero is running.

I've had several issues with my display flickering quite a bit and having windows up end up not responding From what I recall most times the flickering will occur solely within the with responding Issues flickering/not windows not even the entire display Other times any windows I have up especially explorer will say 'not responding' every second or so This happens quite frequently when I have a game Issues with flickering/not responding running like World of Warcraft In addition if I have a window I'm clicking on that's in front of another window it'll oftentimes go behind the other when I'm trying to click on it gets very annoying in PS with all the palettes I've checked all the connections for my hardware I've uninstalled reinstalled my display drivers checked all the drivers for my peripherals checked for any running programs that could be hogging my CPU and RAM with processes and checked the settings in my nVidia control panel I enabled SLI and everything that should be enabled for my computer I have never had this problem before I'm not quite sure what to do about it I'd appreciate some help I just reinstalled Windows and it seems to have started shortly after the installation I've included my hijackthis log just in case I have some malicious process running I'm unaware of

Hi, I'm currently using an archaic LG Studioworks 775N CRT monitor. I got it 5 or 6 years ago and it's serving it's third computer right now. I have never had a hint of trouble with it but just this evening I have been getting flickers every now and then where the monitor will become brighter, even though it is on max brightness and contrast....Anyway, is this something I should worry about? Does anyone know if my monitor is about to crap out on me finally?

Thanks in advance.

A:Monitor flickering issues

Frankly, 6 years service is exceptional.
You shouldn't be "worried" as such, after all, we all have to go some time.

Check the VGA cable's security at both ends (graphic card plug/socket and monitor end).
You can try giving the cable a gentle flex while it's operational.
Sometimes the wiring/joints break down and are repairable/replaceable.

Also check the power cable > try a different one.

I had the issue stating Intel graphics driver Windows has crashed etc nbsp This is not a hardware problem in some extreme cases it maybe I would like to stress the issue is the Intel driver being used by Windows nbsp I came across this problem when I downloaded with Read! those To issues. flickering Please an updated Windows driver for the i - HQ processor To those with flickering issues. Please Read! directly from intel it alerted me that the manufacturer does not support you using this driver and To those with flickering issues. Please Read! would abort the installation nbsp So I took the risk and uninstalled the intel driver on Windows and then ran the installation To those with flickering issues. Please Read! so once I uninstalled it the laptop became extremely slow and eventually got BSOD when trying to turn it off As required by the setup I rebooted and again the laptop was being extremely slow I had downloaded the driver before hand Then I ran the intel installation setup which is a native Windows driver After mins it finally installed and I rebooted nbsp No flickering at all The laptop is now a lot more faster I get a better battery life hours rather hours nbsp I urge everyone to uninstall the pre-installed lenovo windows intel hd driver and replace it with the intel windows hd driver This should and for me has stopped flickering

Hello all.

I have a Dell Latitude D600 and at random times the display will flicker with horizontal lines. I can sometimes agitate it by gently twisting the LCD and it will flicker. I've done some research before and thought the problem would be the flex video cable, which I ordered and installed, but it still flickers. The LCD looks cosmetically perfect, as well as the inverter. The display backlight isn't flickering, rather there are white lines that flicker randomly, so I don't think it's the inverter.

I hooked it up via VGA to an external machine and only the laptop suffered the flicking so I believe that the graphics card is fine.

Here's a video on what I'm talking about.

Using Windows 7-32 bit, the top bar on browsers (both Firefox and IE) flickers constantly. Also, flash videos won't stay full screen, Netflix won't stay full screen. We have used a different keyboard and mouse, same issues.

Any ideas?

So, I've had this screen flickering issue for a couple months now on a new build. It had been running with no issues for the first couple months.

The graphics card was replaced under warranty by XFX. The one they received was tested and was error free. So the issue is not the graphics card.

MemTest86 ran for almost two days and came up with zero errors.

The SSD was cloned from another computer, not sure if that matters or not.

Computer runs fine for hours after boot.

Temperatures are cool. GPU runs around 95*, CPU in the low 90's.

I had been having some strange issues with my Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro since recent Windows 10 updates. These include a flickering blue "busy" circle next to my mouse cursor on the screen and a "jumping" notification bar on my taskbar at the bottom of the screen (which is apparently caused by something trying to launch a notification and then failing). After much trial and error, I finally solved the problem when I uninstalled Cortana from my computer. Unfortunately, this isn't easy to do as Windows makes it difficult to disable. I followed the instructions provided here to do it: If you are having the same very weird issues, I suggest you try this! Good luck!

A:Asus laptop screen flickering issues

Lose cable. If you are comfortable talking your laptop apart then go ahead. and try re-seating the cable connections, secure them tightly to the connections, if that doesn't work then determine from there weather you need a new cable or screen.
If you do not feel comfortable talking it apart then take it to a local shop.

Tried a HDMI connection to a TV, and the lines are not present, which seems to point towards the display being faulty?

If you are also using the same HDMI to connect to your regular monitor that you connected to the TV, then, yes, the display is probably faulty.

Hi everyone,
I bought a Dell XPS 13 2016 (9350) FHD, i5, 8GB, 256GB and two weeks ago i received it. It has a great hardware but software is not very optimized and I have a frustrating issue with the display: it flickers everytime i turn the Bluetooth on and stays on. I cannot figure why but I really hope it's a software issue because is very sporadic, at the moment it never happened today, I really don't know what to do.

Hello everyone I've been reading in this board for a while but I felt the need issues flickering fields pointer and Mouse dynamic to Mouse pointer and dynamic fields flickering issues take action as well now because of a problem I have been experiencing for some time now I am using Windows Professional -bit and in some applications e g Windows Notepad Registry Editor Task Manager I experience extreme flickering of some window elements For example when trying to resize the column sizes on top of the values in the registry editor the text flickers constantly while pulling them with the mouse A similar effect occurs sometimes with the mouse pointer when I'm trying to rename files in the explorer especially while trying to rename elements in the favorites list on the left - the pointer seems to Mouse pointer and dynamic fields flickering issues disappear randomly when any key is pressed but not every single time I press a key Also the tabs in the task manager will flicker when trying to resize the window while in the quot performance quot tab This does not only happen with windows applications also with other programs I am a media design student and similar flickering occurs in the UI of Adobe InDesign while typing the font-size selection boxes on top and the color-picker randomly start to flash white or disappear for a fraction of a second and then just reappar while typing Other programs however show no signs of this issue at all for example Firefox Winamp LibreOffice or any games I have tested so far I have done many searches for a solution to this problem but could not find an answer yet What I have tried so far without success - Installing newest system updates - Installing newest graphics driver - Changing mouse to an old Microsoft quot Wheel Mouse Optical quot USB mouse with the original drivers I used a wireless Logitech mouse before and thought it might have caused the problem but no change - Deactivating the Aero theme using NT style high-contrast themes flickering still the same - Disabling the quot Desktop Window Manager Session Manager quot UxSms service - Playing around with the desktop performance options where quot window shadows quot and such can be found no changes - Adding the quot WaitToKillAppTimeout quot and quot HungAppTimeout quot values to the registry following this guide also did not work or change anything However in difference to the case from the guide the windows do not lose focus when I try to interact with them I am a bit desperate now because I can not think of any other option I could try and the flickering is very annoying while working A virus scan also did not detect anything which is not surprising as this is a rather new and clean installation What is also irritating is that I turned off the quot hide mouse pointer while typing quot checkbox in the mouse options but this will still happen in the Windows notepad other programs will show the pointer while typing Has anyone ever experienced a similar issue or can anyone of you even confirm these observations on your own machine If you have an idea what else I could try or what the cause of this problem may be I would be happy to get any hint Kind regards

I recently hooked up a secondary monitor to my ati 9800 XT, and its crap!

It's a Goldstar Stuidoworks 76i monitor. I have a dvi-vga adaptor and a regular vga-m/m cable. the problem isnt with the dvi cause if i plug my good monitor into the dvi adaptor, it works well and the 76i is still blurry.

the problem is if i change the resolution to anything greater than 800x600, the picture gets very fuzzy, and unusable. i've tried lots of different freq. combinations, and tried changing the colour as well. i looked all over for drivers for the monitor but i didnt find any for XP, i found something that was basically colour profiles, i loaded them, but they didnt change anything.

am i forgetting something? or is the monitor just CRAPOLA?

thank you so much for your help!!

- satan.

A:Fuzzy Secondary Display? 9800XT dual display issues.

Well since you checked to DVI adapter with another monitor I say your monitor is going bad. How old is it? There might be a label with the year on it the back. I have seen this happen to monitors only old 3 years old but usually it monitors older than that.

Other signs indicating its near death is a high pitch whine at higher resolutions or max brightness and contrast.

Tell us what you find.
