I like to listen to music but I don't want to miss text, mail or call alerts, my WP immediately mutes all alerts. I've looked for settings to change this but can't seem to find any. Not sure which model it is (is a work phone and we call it the guvnor) but It's the net version of the old 1520, like a phablet.http://forums.windowscentral.com/ask-question/436221-why-does-my-wp-silence-alerts-when-i-listen-music-via-headphones.html
I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)
I've got excess ethernet wire, despte how ridicules it may sound, can I use the ethernet wire to make an extension for my headphones?
It would be a similar process to this:
though I don't know how good a job it will do.

I want some cheap and good headphones. I'm currently thinking about buying a Steelseries 3H V2 for 40 euros but I have a question. It is written that these headphones have a retractable microphone. Does that mean that I can take it out and throw it away? I have a separate microphone which I wanna use instead of their cheap one. Besides all that, perhaps somebody can suggest better headphones for a similar price?
I have done everything I can think of. I have windows 7 64 bit. I have disabled/re-enabled sound cards, uninstalled/reinstalled drivers. I have checked all settings I possibly can think of. My head phones work GREAT and on startup I can hear the sound, but once in windows, no sounds through my speakers.
I have a mystery on my hands. I received a Bluetooth speaker as a gift. The BT-4.0 adapter plugged into my computer (USB-2.0 port) detects it (as a "Bluetooth headset"), but when I try to select it as my output device (from the "Sound" Control Panel), Windows reports it as "Disconnected".
If I open "Devices and Printers" and right-click the "Bluetooth headset" icon, I get an alert that the device "Failed to initialize".
I've tried rebooting, tried a different BT adapter, updated my BT drivers off the makers' website, Device Manager shows everything is connected & working (including "Bluetooth Audio").
64bit Win7 Home. Inateck BT-4.0 usb adapter. Speaker is a "MicroBoom" BT v2.1:
PS: Eliminated the obvious. Speaker is fully charged and works just fine with my phone.
I have recently built a desktop computer, that had minor issues that I had eventually worked around or found a solution to. This issue is an exception. When I first used my computer, everything was fine with sound, until I found that my graphics card was not inserted correctly, and I was running with terrible resolution. After fixing this issue, I had no sound. This was about 10 months ago. On and off throughout this period I began to try and fix this issue, by disconnected and uninstalling my GPU. I launched skype and trying calling someone, but it alerted me that my sound card was missing. I know this is not true, so I have 3 main theories: 1. The sound card was fried (not likely). 2. My graphics card audio overrode the onboard audio, 3. The two (GPU and sound card) were operating on the same frequency. As I have said before, I had sound before I re-installed my graphics card, so I would either appreciate a solution to switch back to onboard audio, or a way to use both somehow.
Specs: Motherboard: ASUS P8z77
Graphics Card: Nvida Ge Force 670
Processor: Intel i7 core.
Please respond, this issue has been pressing me for almost a year, and I would really like it to be resolved.
Hi,I was thinking about buying a headphone.I dont want an over the ear headphone,so I was thinking about buying an in-ear headphone.I mostly listen to music of varying genres.
After reading some reviews I decided on purchasing the Sennheiser cx 300 ii
However some said that the lack of bass is a problem for it.So should I go with one of these?
2. Sony mdr xb 30 ex

I would go with anything Skull candy over any other earbuds.
My laptop had headphones plugged in because I was watching a film but while I was in another room my laptop was knocked onto the floor around - ft drop change mic to a HD audio headphones Realtek port? port a manager, landing on the headphones jack the wire is fine but the ports completely broken I can see cracks and its loose and everything The laptop has Realtek HD audio manager and in my experience of this program on other desktops I ve had I was able to change Realtek HD audio manager, change a mic port to a headphones port? what port does what My laptop only has a headphones port and Realtek HD audio manager, change a mic port to a headphones port? a mic port and I would like to see if I can switch the mic port to be the headphones port because I never use an external mic however in Realteks audio manager I can t find out how to do this In pictures I ve seen on the internet there is a quot Device Advanced Settings quot button as seen in this picture http www vistax com attachments ealtek-hd-audio-driver-version-hd manager jpg but my program doesn t have this Do I need to download a newer version of the software or is it just not possible to change my mic port to be my headphone port I dont mind if I have to use third party software I just want it to tide me over till I can get it sent away Thanks for suggestions greatly appretiated nbsp
I doubt very much if this will be possible. The mic and headphone ports are wired directly to the Audio section of the motherboard, there connections cannot be altered.
Your best bet is to get the damaged port repaired.
Hey guys, I am going on holiday in early June and am looking for a way to listen to music while I'm in the pool as I plan to spend a lot of time doing so.
The way I can see it is that I have two options:
Buy a waterproof case and waterproof headphones
buy a waterproof MP3 player all-in-one.
Obviously each option has it's flaws - otherwise I wouldn't be there.
Even if I buy a waterproof case how can I be sure that even though there is a waterproof case, where it contacts with waterproof earphones will be waterproof as 'waterproof' to some sellers just means rain-proof.
The problem with the all in ones like the Sony Waterproof Walkman is that they are very expensive for very little space, the 4GB alone being £50 and 8GB is £80.
Does anyone have experience in the matter, anything they can recommend, preferably I'd like to use my phone in a case for my 32GB MicroSD card, but whatever works I guess.
:big grin: My wife JUST purchase a waterproofed iPad Shuffle from waterfi.com
website is very descriptive and the device is AS Advertised - - she's very happy with it
When I play windows media player or any other mp3 player my pc begins to slow down a lot and mouse stutters and my internet webpage closes :/ any help please?
I've posted my IRQ
What are your system specs?
Some possible solutions: Make sure Windows is up to date. Try updating your sound driver (post your system specs and I will show you how to).
Was not sure where to post this since the Gaming Forum is listed under the Software section. Anyway, so my son's birthday is coming up soon and I'd like to get him a nice gaming headset in the $50-75 range. I have done a lot of research but there are a ton of mixed reviews on so many different makes and models. So I come here looking for your input.
1. I am looking for decent build quality especially concerning the mic and headband. I have lost count of how many people reporting loose to frayed wires that makes the mic useless after two months.
2. Over the ear and not on the ear. Trying to eliminate ear fatigue as much as possible.
Not sure what else to ask. Thanks.
Do you want your kid to be silent to bystanders when he's using them? He'll need 'closed-back' headphones. Otherwise, 'open-back' gives better sound overall, but leaks a little.
Some good brands are Turtle Beach or Razer. I don't know of any specific models, but I have the Razer Carachias and it's pretty damn neat.
Don't bother with 'surround sound' gimmicks.
I want to buy a new headphone in next friday (Black friday ).
I'm looking for full headphones. Let's assume that the best deal I would find is 50% off so I would like you to give me a list of ~200$ good quality headphone that I could choose from next friday.
The store should be in the USA so I would be able to use on of those "buy in the usa, ship elsewhere" services.
Go to headfi.org, organise "over-ear" by price, read reviews.
Most importantly, try them on in-store before you buy!
.After the certain moment, my speakers don't work, when the headphones get unplugged (3.5 mm jack). There is only speakers icon in playback tab, no matter, whether headphones are plugged in or not.
Is there a way to determine, whether windows7 detects the headphone jack as plugged in, even if it's not? (that would be hardware problem then, I guess). If so, how to disable jack detection, so that the speakers can get unblocked? Or suggest any other solution. Thanks for replies.
It's not a software problem.
The phone jack on the PC has a switch which is likely to be failing, especially if the machine has a few years on it and you've over time switch between the headphones and the speakers frequently.
The switch allows speaker output when the phones are disconnected and disallow when connected. So even though you have physically disconnected the headset, the switch is not reconnecting to the speakers.
Please help me I have a custom made computer with front audio jacks I have recently added in a new device and Reappear(Quickly) Headphones/Microphone Disappear motherboard and I decided not to connect the front jacks because I won t Headphones/Microphone device Disappear and Reappear(Quickly) need them How I found this problem was I saw my cpu usage very high for some Headphones/Microphone device Disappear and Reappear(Quickly) reason and found out the dcomlaunch is using up - cpu I then found out that dcomlaunch is to do with the plug-ins aka the front audio jacks which are disconnected Every time my headphone and microphone devices within sound start disappearing and reappearing the dcomlaunch skyrockets using cpu When headphones was up I quickly went into the properties and it has Jack information L R Front panel mm jack as well as microphone the same I have tried disabling them however that doesn t work I ve tried re installing the high definition audio driver but that is not the problem I really think it is because the front panel is disconnected and I want to know if there is a way to get around this without reconnected the front panel nbsphttp://www.techspot.com/community/topics/headphones-microphone-device-disappear-and-reappear-quickly.192886/
Currently I'm looking in to getting some wireless headset so that I can listen to my TV from my bed easier. It doesn't have to be portable exactly, but it should preferably have an audio jack, as I'm not sure my TV is compatible with USB headsets (It only has one USB slot anyway, so this would be problematic if watching something off of my portable HDD). Please bare in mind that I have a limited budget, I don't intend on going higher than £50 until Summer, so even if I get a pair that lasts a month and a half that'd be fine.
So yeah, what -under £50- wireless headphones meet my requirements?
Here are some options: http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-RS...369853610&sr=1-1&keywords=wireless+headphones. This is a bit over budget, but is a good choice.
This is a cheaper option:
Recently bought a new headset, Gioteck Ex-05 to be exact. Everything looks fine considering the product and all, but when I FIRST plugged it in it automatically did it's routine with installing the headset driver. Afterwards, my speaker icon in my tray got an X.
Solutions that I've tried but ended up failing:
Reinstalling Headset Driver
Restarting my computer
Reinstalling my Realtek Codec
Reinstalling my NVIDIA High Definition Audio Codec
System Restoring my computer
It's literally just the headset when I plug it in, my earphones work perfect. I have yet to use another headset, this is my first one for this computer.
What OS is it? Have you tried going into the control panel>sound & make sure MUTE is not checked?
Hey guys, I've recently ordered a new PC and it should be here in a week. I'm a gamer and I like to write music and will finally be able to record with my new system. I'm just lacking a sound card. So basically I'm looking for a card that will be awesome for gaming and music. Any suggestions out there? I know I will need a PCI-E card. I'm looking to spend $150-200. Any help would be much appreciated
This is probably the best one out there: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829132010
That is the best of both worlds. There is a better card for gaming, but the Essence above is much better for creating music and phenomenal for gaming.
So my sons computer was not picking my Headphones just toasted PC up his headphones any more they are not usb so they go into the audio jack There is a seperate plug for mic and audio from the same headphones his mic was working but audio was not So I decide to check them in my pc I definitely plugged them into the correct jacks but when I plugged into the mic jack I seen a spark it shut down the pc and Headphones just toasted my PC I could smell it toasted something Now the pc powers up as soon as I plug it in the back but there is no signal to the monitor and nothing is lighting up on the tower So far I ve Headphones just toasted my PC not opened it up because I have no time and I wont be back for a couple weeks but if anyone knows what I should check out when I get back Headphones just toasted my PC it would be helpful I did build the pc so I do know the in s and out s Regards Martin nbsp
Motherboard could be damaged? Try using a cheap/spare replacement graphics card and boot into the BIOS and if nothing happens then I think the board has most likely blown... sorry if it is real bad news...
Okay so here s the history The other night I came home to a high pitch noise coming from my turtle beach headphones Upon removing the headphones from my computer I the sound started coming from my speakers I then shut off my computer I removed everything except the power cord I could hear a different yet similar whine Upon opening my computer I heard the noise coming from within I then took out the video card and started the beast back up Same thing After hours of browsing forums on my phone I decided it was either my CPU or PSU I then removed the PSU and jump started it to check whether or not it was making the sound Whining coming speakers from and headphones noise It ran fine and made no noise However upon connecting it to the motherboard and starting it I then heard the noise again When I listened closely to the CPU I heard nothing then I listened to the PSU which was outside of my case this time and I could hear not only the high pitched whine but also a slight crackling noise It was then that I jumped on newegg and ordered a new PSU http www newegg com Product Prod After long unbearable night and into the morning the PSU was here and I spent hours carefully setting it up and organizing the cords in and around my computer NOW THE GOOD STUFF Upon turning on my computer everything seemed fine I quickly jumped on youtube and started a video no sound coming from my headphones I then pulled out my headphones from the jack No sound coming from my speakers It was then I realized I could hear the ever so dim whine coming from my speakers As far as I can tell there is no noise coming from my new PSU I can hear the sound JUST fine when I plug in my samson go mic and plug my headphones into THAT microphone yeah I know it sounds weird but think of it as a little mini external sound card or something When I play youtube videos with my speakers plugged in I have Whining sound coming from speakers and headphones to crank the volume up on both the speakers and the computer and even then it s super quiet When I play videos with my headphones plugged in in the front of the computer it makes no noise until the volume is around but the sound is just a crackly distorted version of whatever I have playing I have never had an issue with my computer so far so I m honestly not too sure what s going on The sound seems to start when Windows starts loading I have run a CPU stress test and the sound remains the same throughout I have also tried switching which outlet I am using for my computer Here are my computer specs Intel i - k CPU GHz GB DDR RAM -bit Windows Ultimate Fatal ty Z Professional Gen http www asrock com mb overview asp Model Fatal ty Z Professional Gen Updated BIOS NVIDIA GeForce GTX GB OCZ Vector SSD with OS installed on it TB WD Drive TB External WD Drive COOLER MASTER HAF X http www newegg com Product Product aspx Item N E - Not that it really matters Here s my -bit DxDiag http pastebin com sF B rrJ So yeah aside from knowing my motherboard is failing what can you tell me to convince me otherwise lol I refuse to believe that it could be my motherboard because well its been a good board thus far and I haven t seen anything like this when searching google so I feel like it can t be so isolated The only thing I can think of is I just bought a Doctor Who levitating tardis which uses a magnet to make the TARDIS well levitate The magnet is inside the tardis itself and isn t really powerful at all The stand does something that keeps the magnet from reaching the top somehow Nevertheless this thing was on the top of my computer for a week before my computer started making these noises I don t think it s related to the issue as it wasn t exactly all that close to any of the parts nor do I believe it to be any stronger than magnets you might find in a speaker that sits near your computer If anything it s a lot weaker than that So I m guessing its not that but I figured I d at least add that in nbsp
Does it sound 100% like whining or maybe an interference type sound?
Is it accurate to say that usb headphones do not use computer internal sound cards, but instead have their own built in sound cards?
I.e. choose between USB heaphones OR headphones with regular jack and an internal sound card?
Yes thats right. they have built-in dac or so called soundcard in their usb circuitry. I'd go with usb headphone unless the price difference is significant or I have better soundcard installed.
Hi all, just in the middle of a new build and want to move my current rig down stairs as a media center so I was wondering what the best fans are out there for sound levels. At the mo I have a H80 cpu liquid series cooler with 2 stock fans, I have 3x120mm Coolermaster sickle flow blue case fans and 1x140mm blue case fan and I want to change all 6 for something super super SUPER quiet
Whats the best 120mm fans out there for almost stealth like volume ? (not fussed about the 140mm fan as its almost silent)
Thanks for any info,
Noctua IMO are the kings of fans.
I have an Asus G73jh laptop, Windows 7 64-bit, etc. Suddenly, my external hard drive, my usb headset, and my ethernet cable connection are not being recognized. My usb mouse, however, is. It doesn't matter which port you plug which into.
With the headset and ethernet, my computer doesn't make any confirmation sound through the speakers and I don't see any little yellow !'s in Device Manager. My external, however, does come up with a yellow ! and "unknown device."
And no, I haven't installed anything or changed any settings or blah blah. Any advise greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.
I looked up the issues related to what you mentioned above I think that these might help.
These are links to help solve both issues.
Well here is the thing, I have bought JVC HA-M5X before let's say 1 month, so I have tested them on iPod and on another Machine but when I plug them in my PC they seem awfully low. They are 2 or 3 times louder on iPod or the another PC I have tried, they sound like I've plugged em in my phone. Here is a video and I'm sorry for my poor quality.
I have same problem.. with razer tiamat 2.2 and xonar dsx... very low output volume... I have tried many things to resolve but nothing has worked very well although I have seen best results using 16 bit, 44k to 48k sample rate, and I couldnt see in vid but if you have a digital output in playback tab leave it enabled and unmuted with speakers..., and in recording tab only have microphone and stereo mix enabled, disable the rest. also under communications tab change it to 'do nothing' option... I have found the front panel jack outputs much louder volume but doing that I dont beleive it takes advantage of the op amp in my xonar dsx sound card ... im still searching for a complete fix for this problem though.. hope this helps a bit atleast
Morning all The audio jack on my tablet has stopped working which doesn t bother me too much because I ve got some bluetooth headphones which I use to listen to my music on there However I ve got a huge flight coming up soon with my partner and there s loads of TV shows I have on it that we d ideally want to watch and listen to together If only my audio Multiple headphones bluetooth out worked I could just put a headphone splitter into it But I Multiple bluetooth headphones m trying to investigate whether you can get a bluetooth receiver like this http www amazon co uk JUSTOP-BTR -Bluetooth-Wireless-Universal dp B NDDEVQ So that receiver will pick up the audio then pass the audio into something like this http www amazon co uk Belkin-BKF s electronics amp ie UTF amp qid amp sr - Which I can then plug two sets of headphones into and bingo we can both watch and listen to the same thing on my tablet on the plane Would that work Or have I created a ludicrously complicated way of achieving this when a much simpler multi-bluetooth audio out system exists In a nutshell my question is this What s the easiest way get audio to two sets of headphones from one tablet if the audio out plug doesn t work nbsp
I dont think your bluetooth audio adapter is able to drive 2 headphones at reasonable volume level. unless, you get a small headphone amplifier. but then you'll have 3 devices connected and I think it's not worth the hassle. the amplifier itself is cheap, look for something like fiio e3. I have it and it should cost less than 10 bucks.
a single alkaline AAA battery could last for about 10h on my heavy usage. but im not sure if the bluetooth adapter could do the same.
bluetooth adapter -> fiio e3 -> 2way splitter
actually this way, it wouldnt be too much of a hassle. the 3.5mm jack of the bluetooth can be plugged directly into the fiio e3 as well as the 2way splitter.
I am looking at purchasing some new headphones, I am travelling for all of next year and I need something that will be reliable, yet has pretty decent sound quality. I am looking for over-ear headphones that will be generally used for music. I already own a pair of G35's for gaming, so that is not an issue. Noise-cancelling is not a necessity, basically sound quality takes precedence, but I won't complain if I can get both .
As these are one of my main purchases for next year I am willing to pay a largish amount for them, nothing too extreme though.
I have been looking at the Bose QC15's, but they are quite expensive, they are perhaps nearing the top of the price range for me.
Thanks for all your input
If you're travelling you might want to consider inner ear headphones, they are way more portable and generally provide better noise isolation than over the ear noise cancelling headphones.
Bose are insanely overpriced for what they are, the sound is average and build quality isn't great either.

A4Tech cheap ergonomic headphones would by my top choice. I have here on my PC an A4Tech model T-120 and HS-23
Comparing, the loudest would be HS-23 with good measures of bass even on Dolby Surround environment. I think it's enough to give the baby his good night sleep considering you don't even need an expensive one.
Just check the links below the images for more specification.
Having dredged the internet, I came across this forum amongst the many with questions relating to cd drives working but dvd not etc, but my issue is slightly different, i think.
CDs seem to play ok, and so do DVDs, but I seem to have a problem with my laptop reading a disc with DS games on it that it used to read no problem. The discs can be used in my other half's laptop, so it is clearly a problem with my laptop.
I'd appreciate if anyone could advise where I can start to solve this problem
You need to have the CD/DVD drive replaced. Internal lasers fail in strange ways. The drives are not too expensive and they are easy to replace

I have a Dell Inspiron 530 with vista and every time i try to play a song from my external hdd i get an error message that says "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Set associations control panel.
This is the normal instruction for setting up a file association.
1. Open Default Programs by clicking the Start button, typing "default programs" and then clicking Default Programs in the pop up list.
2. Click on Associate a file type or protocol with a program.
This opens a list of extensions.
3. Choose the extension of the files that you wish to open then click on change program button.
4. Select the program you wish to associate the file with and click Ok.
If you have already done this try right clicking on the file and selecting open with then choose the player.
I have a HP dv7-1285dx, and I don't really use headphones that often on my laptop so when I recently did use them I discovered that sound only comes out of the left ear piece. The sound on my latop works fine, i have tested it and both speakers display the *bing* sound during windows 7 sound test, however, with the head phones plugged in there is no sound in the right side of the ear. I have tested up to 4 different headphones and the problem is still there.
More than a year ago I sent it in to HP because according to them the motherboard needed to be replaced, maybe they took it out and didn't reinstall it/it's loose or something like that? Any ideas on what I can do to fix it?

Oh! i also just noticed you posted in the Introduce Yourself forum. Next time please post in the forum for topic
The speakers won't work only if I plug something into the headphone jack will sounds come out.
the line may be muted... you should go into your sound card's control panel and check.
I was just wondering, and I hope this is the right place to ask this....
Would this be wasting my 8 Channel onboard audio card?
Using Formula IV motherboard with...
SupremeFX X-Fi 8-Ch audio with EAX Advanced HD 4.0 support
Audio-Technica ATH-AD700 Open-air dynamic headphones
This is a website that sells them...
What I mean tho is, would this be 8 channel or crappy 2.0?
If so, I want the best gaming headset available that would make use of my sound card for the money. (don't got loads)
Thanks again for your help!

System HP dv Laptop Intel Core Duo T gb RAM Windows Vista SP Here s the deal Itunes and Windows Media Player can play music both through the computer speakers and through headphones When I load up youtube or any other websites with sound I get nothing through the sound unless internet No from use the I headphones computer speakers However the sound will play through the headphones I have checked all of my internet options to make sure quot play sound in browser quot No sound from the internet unless I use headphones was checked etc I have confirmed that all of my audio codecs and drivers are up to date I checked control panel gt hardware and sound gt sound and made sure all of my volume settings were at full and nothing was muted Something interesting that I noticed was that when I go to system sounds I cannot hear test any of my system sounds Also windows does not play the start-up shut-down noises Any help would or suggestions would be greatly appreciated Thanks guys nbsp
When I encountered similar issues in the past, entirely reinstalling the audio drivers often worked. Repairing the drivers probably will not.
i was watching some videos online and i tried to mute sounds from all the other stuff i was using at the tim and now i go back to my spotify and its says it cant play music because there is a problem with the sound card what do i do?
Can you take a screen shot of the actual error message and post it? You might just have to re-install the sound card driver, but who knows you haven't given enough info yet to give you a good answer.

So I'm thinking about buying a nice pair of gaming headphones and I was wondering if I would be needing to upgrade my sound card as well (currently my comp just has the stock Realtek integrated sound card on the motherboard). I have a USB audio adapter and I heard that helps with the sound. I was reading some reviews of these headphones and saw something about "impedance" which is why I'm hesitant of buying them.
These are the headphones I'm looking at:
Also, if I do end up needing a sound card, I'm not sure I'll have a slot for it because I already used my PC 16 express slot for my video card.
Thanks in advance
gaming headphones are good, but they will only be able to amplify the quality of audio that is produced by your sound card. if you don't have an available PCI or PCIe slot for a sound card adapter, there are other options such as USB (you have this already) and even a dock that fits in your 5.25 drive bays! if you're a gamer (which it sounds like you are) then you will benefit from buying a dedicated sound adapter because not only will it sound better, but you will have access to a bigger variety of software features and options.
Hello I m having a little problem with my speakers down No after got) (headphones from shut sound speakers As written in my title my speakers has no sound I have No sound from speakers (headphones got) after shut down went through almost all the related forums on this kind of problems but it seems that almost everyone has problem with the speaker s sound AFTER they installed something or upgraded their software after i shut my computer down at night and on it back the next morning the speakers weren t working and when i play a mp avi rmvb or even youtube there is no sound at all However if i plug in my headphones they work just fine Everything else is working fine - The light on the speakers is light up - The wire is plugged into the green hole It hasn t been moved since about a year ago so i don t think thats the problem - The sound card is working fine There is sound through the headphones - There are no conflicting drives - There are no exclamation marks or crosses in the device manager - My audio isn t mute I m suspecting that my speakers is spoiled But i m hoping that someone could help me with it Because it just doesn t make sense how the speakers could be perfectly fine one moment and be spoilt after a shut down I can t use systerm restore because when i tried it it says that it couldn t return to the specific time and to solve that problem i cancel the system restore shut down and then enable it again Edit My speakers does have those buzzing sound those kind that signals the speakers is on when i on it and when i off it Which i presume means that the speaker should be able to work Or else it wouldn t be making noises like that right and there are really faint buzzing sounds when the speakers is on I m only able to hear it if i put the volume to the max and stick my ear to the speakers which also shows that it should be able to work right Please help and thank you nbsp
When you plug in the headphones are you plugging them into a front panel jack? Try removing the speaker plug from the green jack at the back and plug in the headphones there. If you get sound through the headphones, your sound card is probably okay but your speakers are not.
Because it just doesn't make sense how the speakers could be perfectly fine one moment, and be spoilt after a shut down.Click to expand...
But isn't that the nature of a component failure? It often works fine up until the moment it doesn't. You don't always get a gradual failure. When it fails, it fails.
Hi guys I would like to purchase a pair of headphones which would offer new pair of A gaming headphones? the best sound quality of both worlds I mainly use my headphones for gaming hours and listening to music hours I pretty much do a even amount of both of my hobbies each day Would the AKG K be ideal for these types of environments More info on the AKG K I was currently in the market for a gaming headset But as i came across these headphones these seem the better viable options AS if i A new pair of gaming headphones? were to purchase A new pair of gaming headphones? a gaming headset i would only be able to A new pair of gaming headphones? enjoy one of my hobbies I know these headphones aren t designed for gaming but the headphones offer good bass and response time which is essential in gaming My question to you is i currently game on a Sony plays station would these headphones be compatible with the Sony plays station More info on Sony plays station One connectivity that i am certain that the Sony plays station supports is USB Now i know that the headphones do not come with a USB adaptor quote me if i am wrong but is it possible to buy one of these for this headphone Or some other kind of adaptor that will enable the headphones to work with the Sony plays station Again I m sure that the Sony plays station has more connectivity so could you please research this Another question i would like to ask is say for example these headphones are not compatible with the Sony plays station Could you guys recommend one which performs similar Also if i were to buy this headphone and use it for gaming would i get the same gaming experience as if i were using a gaming headset By that i mean quot you can hear people sneaking up behind you quot with a gaming headset would this be the same for the headphones My budget is Thanks to all that contribute nbsp
I'm not sure if the PS3 supports USB headsets like a PC does. I also don't know for sure that the USB ports on the console are 2.0, because the only thing I use them for are charging the controllers. I could try my USB headset a little later to test it out... but most USB headsets just convert to regular 3.5mm jacks anyways. If you have an audio receiver you could use optical audio with the PS3 and then connect your headset that way. I actually use my PC's sound card as my receiver and connect my phones through the computer. Of course I need the computer on when I use the PS3 but there are a number of options with any headset.
As far as actual headsets go, there are a LOT of options and tiers in terms of quality. I have the GameCom 777 by Plantronics and they are plenty good for what I need them for. Those AKG's seem really nice from the reviews but are very expensive. I paid well under $100 for my headset and they are by far the best I've owned. Just go with what you like...
Music visualizer for media players
Any one have any preferences or suggestions for a good one of these. I have had a look at WhiteCap but wondered what else there was out there that was as good or maybe even better?

I'm thinking that without gaming ambitions, the new Intel core i3 CPUs might meet your needs with their integrated graphics. These give pretty decent scores in
the Windows Experience Index, something like 4.9 for Areo, and 5.3 for business and gaming graphics. To the best of my knowledge, the matching H55/ H57 Intel chipset motherboards provide Fire Wire input.
You should first subscribe to Newegg's Email list, so you can grab your parts as they become available on sale.
Here is Intel's list of socket LGA1156 CPUs available at Newegg; http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...=2010340343 50001157 1051749233&name=LGA 1156
And the matching integrated graphics H55/ H57 boards in the Gigabyte brand; http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...01314 1070549182 107173338&name=Intel H55/H57 Be sure to pick one with 4 memory sockets. (4 out or 5 do). I have this one; http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128421
Please pay no attention to the bad reviews for this product, they were all written by imbeciles claiming, "high technical ability". I don't know squat about computers, and I had one of these systems up and running perfectly, with Windows 7 installed, in about 3 hours.
In fact, I'm hoping Newegg will offer "don't know squat" as a technical ability claim option. That way, I'll be able to check, "don't know squat", and report, "it works perfectly for me, 5 stars"!
Here is a test report done on a few of these boards at Techspot; http://www.techspot.com/review/259-intel-h55-motherboard-shootout/
I'm hard of hearing and our TV sound isn't the greatest, so I struggle to hear what's being said when watching shows. I enjoy using headphones, but that only works when I'm not watching with my wife.
I use my laptop with HDMI output to the TV. It seems I can choose to either run sound through the headphones or the HDMI cable, but not both. Is there any way to run both sound outputs simultaneously?
I have WIndows 7 with smart audio...
Ok normally this depends on the sound driver. Try downloading the latest driver for you laptop and check if it works, if not come back.

Sounds like you are missing some sound codecs, at the very least. Luckily Techspot can provide them for you...
Hope this solves your problem.
I want to buy a nice bluetooth headphone so I can listen to music wirelessly from my mobile phone. However, I don't want to spend too much money on this, I can only spend upto 30 bucks. Is there any nice headphone I can buy for 30 bucks?
Here's a good example:
Blue Tooth Headset
My favorite music player is "Winamp Media Player"
1. Flash Music Player
2. sidebar music players
3. RealPlayer 10
What is your favorite music player?
i just use itunes, since most of the time I only want to have the music playing the bacground, i don't really care for the download options that it gives or the visualizer.
I have an Acer Aspire 5630 Notebook. My speakers and headphones play at the same time. This was not always the case, and I want my main speakers to mute when I plug the headphones in. All my drivers are up to date, and my computer has HD Realtek manager audio. Any suggestions?
Try uninstaling your sound drivers and reinstalling them
I have a strange experience with sounds lately I have no come background games of music sound How some different? idea why this happening or what is causing it but here it is How come some background music of games sound different? One day I was doing some light gaming on both my tower and laptop since both my computers meets the minimum requirements and while playing this game I heard some unusual sounds on both How come some background music of games sound different? my laptop and tower my laptop while playing the background music of the game seemed to be missing a couple or not few sound types in the game On my tower it sounded like it had an extra beat as if I could here that extra sound s with the background music playing I can t explain real good but to simplify this my laptop seemed to be lacking of some melody beats while my tower has it all and slightly deeper bass I turned my laptop speakers high yet no extra melody beat appeared I How come some background music of games sound different? did the same with the tower sounded the same as before but just louder I am sure I installed this game on both my computer successfully with no errors I reinstalled it again and same problem occurred I don t understand is the speakers more sensitive on the tower and giving it more variety of sounds or is the laptop speakers not so sensitive in outputting more variety of sounds Or both are wrong and it is just the matter of XP and VISTA or is it the software or drivers installed for the sounds Is something wrong with the speakers Do I need buy better ones Ones that s suppose to act normal nbsp
try updating your sound drivers first, then you might want to look into past problems others might have had with this games sound. Since this happened to both your computers at the same time it sounds like the problem is the game.
A simple test to see if your speakers are broke is just...play music on them. Does it sound fine? yes? then it's not your speakers
unfortunatly without knowing what game it is that you are talking about I can't really look into any problems others have had with it.
I have an Acer Aspire laptop and bought a little bass speaker that will enhance what I currently have on my laptop.
Only problem however is that when plugging this speaker into the headphone jack my internal speakers don't play anymore.
How can I play through both my internal laptop speaker and through this external speaker at the same time.
Your help would be much appreciated!
For most systems dual sound is impossible. Actually I'm not sure if that is possible at all on any card at all...I've browsed around the internetz, and this is what everyone seems to say on this subject.
My advice would be if you are using your laptop for home use only, just go buy external speakers as well, as long as you have 2 sound ports. If not you can get a splitterand plug both the bass and speakers in that.
Sorry I couldn't be of much more help!
Windows Vista some time ago we put in a usb webcam with a jack for built in microphone I accidentally pulled the jack for the speakers and when i replaced the jack a box came up asking what we had plugged in i pressed side speakers and ok but the speakers would not work We tried headphones in the front green jack and they worked so put or No speaker headphones sound the speakers jack in there too clicked the corresponding side speakers and clicked ok and No speaker or headphones sound they worked The wouldn t work at the back Yesterday I removed the speakers jack to put the headphones in and the same thing has now happened neither speakers or headphone worked I have made sure all drivers are up to date have checked all volume levels etc and plugs Have turned computer off and on and with jacks in prior to turning on The fact that it was all working one minute and not the next and that it s happened before is really confusing any ideas nbsp
Have you tried System Restore? Its basically designed for this type of issue
If that doesn't work I'd suggest uninstalling all your sound driver/program, and restarting, then install the most up to date driver again
Hi - new here and hoping someone can give me advice. Have a Dell inspiron laptop and all of a sudden it will only play sound thru the headphones - not the internal speakers (not sure if kids did something or...??) . I am not computer savy - but found where I could run diagnostic at startup and testing the sound - it played just fine with the internal speakers during the test. I have tried all the diagnostic tests that I could find. Is there some type of internal switch that could not be turning on for the internal speakers? Again -don't know much - but can't afford a hefty repair bill. Thanks for any advice I think the computer has sigma tel high def...??
i found this on my brothers inspiron 9400, there was a setting in the audio properties that was set, i cant remember it now but i found it by accident, he was running XP by the way.
I am running XP/Win7 on my AMD 64 Athlon 3400+ powered Pavillion. I have an integrated Realtek AC'97 audio card and lately I've noticed that all music playback is choppy - whether it's iTunes, Windows Media Player, or Youtube. I've tried different speakers, headphones, etc., but reagrdless of the hardware I use, I still get the same problem. It sounds as if the music is being paused and then played very quickly throughout the song. I don't really notice it in Windows sound effects, but that may be because they are short in length. I notice this happening on both XP and Windows 7 and don't know why.
Try updating your audio and chipset driver. There could also be a program running in the background taking up to much memory or CPU cycles. If you listen to music alot you should get a dedicated sound card. You can get a really good Audigy on Ebay for under $15. Onboard audio is notoriously troublesome. Too many other things in the system can interfere with it.

Basically I'm looking for some 5.1 surround sound headphones that are built well (will last a decent length of time) and have good sound quality. I'm not bothered about having a built in mic, but don't mind if there is one. I don't have a 5.1 sound card, so USB is prefered. Does anyone have any recommendations?
I quite like these ones:
hi , iam trying to fix this problem but can't find a solution. where is the problem?
have you tried another set of speakers?
please add some more details on the problem.
Hey! My comp can play music but when I play DVDs or run .avis I only get background music and the vocal audio is so low it's almost muted. I can't figure it out. I have DivX installed and AC3Filter as well but I use WMP and Cyberlink PowerDVD, no vocals from either. Do I need codecs? How do I find out which I need?
I've been able to boost sound with the AC3Filter and get DVD vocals now through WMP but I still am not getting any vocals from my DVDs when played through my Cyberlink PowerDVD. Any suggestions? I'm sure I'm missing a codec or something but I can't figure out what. The website I used to go to to download audio codecs for WMP11 looks down for the count so I'm at a loss.
Bought my wife a Sylvinia SMPK4068, 4gig MP3 player. My son has a zune and an account. He was able to download to an OPEL RCA MP3 player with no problems from the zune site. However when we try to down load to the Sylvinia it states it's a bad file type or can't download subscription. This is a plug and play device with an disc included for conversion of AVI files. Any suggestions? Like all the options of this unit for the price just the problems with downloads from the zune site.
I thought that site was strictly for zune users, as I own one myself, i know you cant go hooking an ipod up to it either.
I was wondering if there is a way to play sounds using both the built in speaker and the headphones at the same time?
I am using an Acer aspire 4736Z with windows vista home basic.
its impossible technically.
but some soundcard has the stupid ability to do it. for acer aspire series. i think mostly they use realtek HD audio as their onboard chip. dont think it could happen. u can try doing though
it happens to a hp laptop, when something wrong, i cant mute the internal speakers when using hdphone
For whatever reason nothing will buffer here at home (youtube, myspace, etc) after a few seconds. It'll start out working fine and then just stop buffering.
We have a wireless network here so we can share a printer. I've tried all the computers in the house (Vista, XP), multiple browsers (Firefox, Explorer, Chrome), disabling the firewall, and clearing browser data. Nothing has helped. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
try uninstalling flash and install the newest version here
I am using an AMD Phenom 9850 Quad core processor computer that i bought 4 months back. Everything was working fine until 1 month back, there was a problem with the audio. Now no audio comes from the speaker and headphones.
I have uninstalled the realtek drivers and reinstalled it, but still it doesn't work. The computer has an ASUS M3A78-EM motherboard. When i open the device manager, i get a yellow question mark beside the sound card device. I again uninstall and reinstall the driver, still theres no audio.
Is there any resolution for this except for taking the processor to a computer shop for repair???? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
You need to provide more information.
Including your system specs: (make / model, what version of Windows? what Service Pack (SP) release level? is it 32 or 64 bit version of Windows?
And tell us what Windows is reporting
First make sure all your devices are connected and powered on
Click Start->Run, enter: msinfo32. Click the + sign next to Components to expand it
Click Problem Devices. Anything appear?
If yes, click on it, Ctrl-A to select all, Ctrl-C to copy it, Ctrl-V to paste into next post
Hi! I have an xps420 dell, I have the front sound and microphone jacks and the back ones like normal. Last night my headphones snapped off the metal part at the end inside the front jack and its lodged inside. So I thought NO biggy ill just use the back jacks from now on. Well the problem lies now the computer wont play ANY sound even with the back jacks. Im assumeing thats because maybe its still reading that front jack as something it can output sound through. So my question is how can i DISABLE the front jack and bypass it to the back sound jacks so that i can get sound back. Or maybe if anyone else has any ideas as to why the sounds not working anymore would be nice to. Thank you!
If you can't free the broken jack, you could just pop the side panel off of the tower and physically disconnect the front panel audio wires from the motherboard or soundcard. This should fix the problem if the broken plug is preventing audio output from the rear jacks.
Hey there guys im kinda new around here so im gonna be as brief as possible, the thing is that i want to configure my MIC so for example if im playing Counter Strike or Natural Selection everyone from that server can here what im listening to right? in fact is it possible to transmit music through my MIC or somehow but i need to do that i have no doubt about it cuz i know there is a way to do it but im not that so aware about it so i though u guys could help me alright so i expect some help on this Thread and thx a lot for helping me out.

i brought a new acer desktop computer that use vista and everything was fine until today. i turned on my computer and wanted to watch a video on youtube and the sound wouldn't play. i opened my zune software to listen to my music and it wouldn't play. i've checked device manager and my speakers and sound card don't have any yellow exclamation marks next to them. my computer says the device is connected and working and the power source is okay. i don't know what to do anymore so can someone help me before i lose my mind.
Go to Acers support website and download and install your systems sound driver from there. Is this Acer running Vista? If so, make sure it is fully updated to Vista, Service Pack 1
I just purchased a MP3 from Sylvania model SMPK4066. I connected my player with USB to my computer. Using Windows Media Player 11 and the sync option I synchronized my player 100% complete. Now my player reads No Files but WMP shows all of my music was tranferred and I see Folders on my MP3 screen with artists names but no music is playing and it still says No FIles. I need someone to help me get this thing to play my music. Thank you very much to whomever figures this out.

I bought and returned a defective set of Razer Barricuda Headphones today, got another and the replacement was even worse. Does anyone here have these headphones and how are they? Really? And has anyone else have problems with this model headphone or any other razer product? (is this thread in the right place?)
My cablebox has dozens of music stations. I would like to make music CDs to play in the car. I can copy to a VHS tape with my VCRs, or to a DVD through my computer. What do I need to do now?"
I think you could buy a TV card for your computer and "capture" the cable music that way
Endeavours to play a music CD on my desktop computer now prompt the following error message to appear. - "Canno convert CD Rom drive letter to ASPI information.. Digital reading is impossible."
Assistance in resolving this problem would be much appreciated...
So what is your systems make and model? What operating system are you running?

The title might sound a little weird but here's my problem. Yesterday i was chatting with my friends with a crappy headset then it broke.I just got a new one but this one is weird whenever i'm playing a music or something my friends can hear it too. I try checking it by using the sound recorded. It seems like they picked up the music in the background too. Is there anyway to stop it so i can use my mic alone?
Click start/control panel/Sounds and Audio Devices/Advanced and make sure the mic is muted on the playback side.

Is there a way to tell if this is the cause of the problem? I messed around with all of my audio options, tried upgrading the driver, I've hooked the external speakers into every port available, and i reinstalled the monitor software thinking that maybe they had an application for it. I don't know what else my options are, but I find it weird that there isn't some kind of work around or registry change that can be made. Thank you once again for any help,

Sounds like a failing hard drive...
I've had my headphones for some time now and untill recently they were working just fine. I can't remember the actual product name of the headphones but can tell you they are made by logitech and have a usb plug in. The problem is that my computer doesnt seem to fully recognize the headphones anymore. When i open a program to use the headphones with or try to make a call to another computer, my computer makes the designated beeping noise for when you connect/unconnect a usb device and then the headphones stop working. Sometimes the beep will happen twice in a row as if my headphones were unconnected and then reconnected again. I've tried looking at other forums around the internet but no one seems to have had this problem before. Any help would be greatly apreciated.
There may be a broken wire inside the cable that goes to the computer. Can you try another set of USB headphones?
I have a new Twinhead Durabook D15TS running Windows XP Pro, with a Realtek audio device.
When I insert the headphone plug into the jack, my speakers continue to play. This defeats the purpose of headphones.
I called Twinhead (now Gamma Tech). The tech tested his headphones on a laptop identical to mine and it worked properly. This was no help.
I've tried 4 different sets of headphones, all do not mute the speakers. I've searched the web, and I can see this isn't a random problem, it happens quite frequently, and no one's been able to fix it.
I'm curious as to what the genius' here think. Thanks for your time.
There is a set of contacts inside the headphone jack that are supposed to disconnect the internal speakers when you insert the headphone plug. Your laptops jack may be defective or damaged...
Hey I was just wondering if anyone out their new which pins I need to cnect to for my headphones to work. What motherboard do you have? You may have to download its manual and get the pin/jumper settings for audio
Hey, around 10 minutes ago I was messing around with my audio settings trying to get the +20DB settings to work on my microphone (failed). I then think that restarting my system will help, so I power down and reboot. However when windows loads again the start-up music will play, then cut out almost instantaneously.
If I was to play a song then it would work through my headphones but not my speakers. All settings seem to be correct in Audio porperties.
In most cases, it is a matter of updating your system drivers (found at your Manufacture's support site)
In some cases it is a Virus\Spyware infection that must be removed
Have a look at:
Viruses/Spyware/Malware Preliminary Removal Instructions
For further help:
Please put your System Specs information in your Profile
If you have a brand name computer (like Dell; HP; or other) please place the Computer name & Model number in your Mobo field of your Profile
I have a great set of USB headphones with an inbuilt microphone, and I was thinking of buying a Sound Card as an upgrade. So what I want to know is:
Are there any soundcards out there that support USB headphones?
Names or links would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.
You would be better off upgrading your motherboard and use it's superior on-board audio
I'm using Intel Audio Studio - Sonic Focus 7.1 - Sigma Tel
I have Soundblaster 7.1 desktop powered speakers with a wired/remote on-off switch
with volume and bass controls.
Out of the clear blue, I can't adjust the volume for my headphones with the Soundblaster controls. When I unplug the headphones, the Soundblaster volume control works fine thru the speakers. I get sound ok when the headphones when they're plugged in, but the Soundblaster volume control does nothing. The system volume control, and WMP volume controls work fine on the headphones. It's just the controls on the Soundblaster that have no effect on the headphones.
You need to re-install the sound drivers
I couldn't find the exact drivers, except for a page here: http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/SO...gmatel-STAC-92XX-Audio-Drivers-006-5682.shtml
If it is an addon sound card just search and download from the manufacture
If it is intergrated into your computer, just search your motherboard drivers
Whenever I have inserted a cd in a drive and selected explore, I have been able to see the file type. I bought a cd, karaoke style -- for all practical purposes here -- and when I inserted the CD I only found pdf files which hold the sheet music. I always make a copy of these cds in case one becomes damaged. On two computers I was completely surprised that I could see nothing except the PDF files. Is there a way to see the music files?
Purhaps you did not buy a CD with music on it. It may be a karaoke cd that gives you sheet music to some popular songs to let them play and sing it yourself (thus the karaoke).
I cant think of anything else because if thats ALL thats on the disk then the obove situation is accurate in my opinion

Can't figure out what is going on with my MySpace profile. About a week ago, all of the music vids I have on my profile stopped playing. The only exception is one YouTube video which still works. I re-installed a newer version of Active X thinking this might solve the problem. Still does not work.
Interesting though, when I view my profile on a computer other than my own, all of my videos play on my profile.
What do you think the problem may be? Has anyone had the same problem?
How to use Reset Internet Explorer Settings (RIES)
To use RIES in Internet Explorer 7, follow these steps:

2. On the Advanced tab, click Reset.
3. In the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box, click Reset.
4. When Internet Explorer 7 finishes restoring the default settings, click Close, and then click OK two times.
5. Close Internet Explorer 7. The changes take effect the next time that you open Internet Explorer 7.
I have encountered a problem when I have tried to burn music to cd r. The drive will play music ok- so no problem there. However when I try to burn some tracks it will only record about 10 seconds. I will then get an error message saying that my cd is dirty or may be recording at wrong speed. Have tried other speeds without any success also tried downloading latest version of window media and closed all other applications that may have caused even a remote problem. Can anyone help or have any suggestions how to fix this problem?
Is this a laptop or a desktop computer.
It seems as if your CD drive is worn out of alignment. Either the read laser or the write laser is out of whack or it is just worn out. How old is the drive?
Burners last about a year, on average... less, if used a lot. It is easier and cheaper to replace them, than to fix them.
If you are in a dusty climate, you can remove the bottom from the burner, and use Dust Off or other canned air with difluoroethane gas to clean the unit. Do not touch the laser... just blow dust out of the drive.
There are some utilities that will reset the burner on some models. Do a Gurgle search for your brand and model.
(if this is in the wrong section, my bad)
for mlb 08 the show, you can choose to add your own music from the MS Pro Duo Card. I have songs that can be played in the mp3 player in the PSP, but when i want to load up songs to the game, it won't recognize the files and say i don't have any songs on the card.
When I plug my headphones into my front jack, HP m1180n desktop, they work fine however sound keep playing in my speakers as well.
How do I prevent sound from coming through both headphones and speakers at same time?
You will have to reconfigure your motherboards sound configuration. The Audio header has to be configured for HD (Hi-Definition)... You may have to contact HP tech support to do this
I can't remember the last time I was able to playback audio cd's (store bought) but I am sure I was able to at one time. I'll insert a cd into the drive at the autoplay box does popup saying it is an audio cd, so the drive WILL recognize the disc. However upon attempting to playback or rip, the drive will endlessly try to read the disc, freezing whichever program I'm using to playback/rip. The hard disc action light is also at full blast while this is happening. I have tried several cds and programs to no avail.
The Drive itself requires replacing
You can also purchase cleaning discs to clean the laser, but the money is usually best spent on a new DVD R/W drive
my music folder use to arrange my mp3 files in order from oldest to newly added. i must have clicked something because it doesnt anymore. can you tell me how to make it so it will arrange them from when they were added, like it once did?
please & thanks,
Open the music folder and then click on the 'Date Modified' tab at the top. You may have to click it one more time to get the latest file on top.
Hi Guys, i build an 5 channels amp and i have 5 speakers, i have an SoundCard with 5 channels Output, i found that if the song is just 2 channels the output will be to the Front Speakers, is possible to send the output to the Front and Rear Speakers?
Thanks in advance.
as long as you have front, rear inputs for your
amp that you built & front, rear ouputs, then yes
plug another jack (3.5 mm mini jack/RCA) from your sound card's
rear output to the rear input of the amp then you're ready to go.
& dont forget, the rear speakers connected to the rear output
channel of your amp.

You might have Temporary "files waiting to be written to the disk" in explorer.
put an empty disk in the drive open my computer and double click on the CD/DVD-RW drive, if any files appear in explorer greyed out then delete them by clicking "Delete these temporary files".
if you have any open windows that are showing the contents of the drive then you should close them too. other than that then there's probably another program monitoring the drive, could be a media player that you set to monitor your Drive for playable media.
