I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi  @Pocko100, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I read your post and wanted to reach out to help you!  I have read that your HP Pavilion 11-n012na x360 Notebook will not connect to the Wireless. Here is some help from HP. Here is a document on Airplane mode. If Airplane mode is on you cannot use your WiFi or Ethernet, so Airplane mode should off for the Wireless troubleshooting. Sometimes just resetting the router can help. Unplug the router and wait 30 seconds before plugging it back in to make sure it fully resets. Please get back to me how this goes. To show that you like, or are thankful of my post, kindly click the Thumbs up below. If there is anything else I can do to help, please be sure to let me know!  If this, or any of the posts on this thread, has helped you to resolve the issue, please click on Accept as Solution on said post. Thanks.

Hi @johnvesli, Thank you for your inquiry. I will do my best to help you with this issue.  What is your product or model number? HP Notebook PCs - How Do I Find My Model Number, Serial Number or Product Number What operating system are you running?  I understand that you have been unable to connect to any network for the last two years. First I would test the wireless card for functionality. I am assuming you are running Windows 7.  HP Notebook PCs - Testing for Hardware Failures (Windows 7, Vista) If the card checks out OK, then here is a link to a forum post by @Great-Deku-Tree that should help Common fixes for wireless connectivity issues. Please let me know if this resolves the issue by marking this post as "Accept as Solution". To simply say thanks, click the ?Thumbs Up? below!    If you require further assistance let me know and I will gladly do all I can to help.

A:Ralink RT3290 802.11bgn Wi-Fi Adapter is not connecting

I have found that if I select "Forget" for the network and then add it again using the button on the router for authentication, that it will work until.....   I connect through the wired network.   Then it will not connect again until I forget the network. It seems to be a problem with the settings cache for the network.    If I do the above I get good throughput.   If I don't, I can't connect at all. Hope that helps most of you until there is a better driver.

Hello  Recently I am experiencing a very serious problem with my wifi  My OS is Windows 10 16.07 build 14393.447. The windows update happened about a week ago At start the system was freezing after 10 minutes of open wifi and no connection possible to my wifi network even if it was showing up and sending the correct password I have reinstalled the sp71571 drivers for the Ralink RT3290 wireless card with partially solving the total problem. (I have also disabled any firewall during reinstallation Now I don't have system freezes and my wifi can see other networks but not mine (and maybe a few others) which is quite strange My only connection to the internet is through Ethernet cable which is to say the least inconvenient Please advise BRDimitris Natsiopoulos

I have hp 15 r012tx laptop, i did a clean installation of windows 10. My wireless card has been acting up, sometimes it will drop connections and all i have to do is reconnect and it works fine and sometimes it just disappears from the device manager. When this occurs i have to restart the PC a couple of times just to get it working again. Although sometimes it might without a hitch for a few days before it starts acting up again. I have tried installing drivers from all sorts of place but none seem to work including the ones from official HP website specifically for my model.

Greetings, I have installed the latest driver from here http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp71501-72000/sp71571.exe .My laptop is running windows 10 x64. The taskbar icon show a red mark on the wifi connection button. when i click on the wifi connections buttons - it doesnt list even one Wifi connection. It says no WiFI networks found eventhough there are couple of active SSIDs and all other devices at my home can connect to it. On the device manager - i see the driver version is 5.0.57.0 published on 5/18/2015. Is this the latest driver? .I tried the latest driver from mediatek too, without much success.  Anybody faced similar issues?

Roll the driver back to the previously installed wifi driver.  Updating a driver just because you can is not always such a great idea, as you have discovered.

My system worked fine using windows 7. I upgraded to windows 10. During the upgrade I got a warning that the Ralink rt3290 was not compatible with win 10. Following advice on the Internet I obtained the latest driver for the rt3290 from Media Tek version 5.0.57.0.When I boot win 10, my Internet connection works for a few minutes then disconnects and won't reconnect without booting again. I am willing to buy a different network adapter or load a new (improved???) driver but I don't know what different network adapter would work in my Pavilion 500-205t and be compatible with win 10 or where to get a driver that will consistently work for the rt3290. Help please.

Hi @HPSUCKSRT3290, Thank you for your query. I understand that you have had your notebook for 3 years and about 5 months ago you lost the wireless connection and have not been able to reconnect. You had no previous issues with  the wireless You took it to a repair shop and it connected immediately to his network. Ever since I upgraded to Windows 10 I have had continous failures of my wireless card.  I will be working normally and all of a sudden I have no connection to wifi.  A browser will show mo internet connection.  All other devices on my network have no problems.  I cannot connect to a differnt network or even try to disconnect and reconnect.  The ony fix (for a few days) is to reboot the notebook.  However in rebooting I get a systems stop failure and Windows saves a crashdump file.   The Error shown is _Driver_Power_State_Failure Searching the Microsoft site the error is stated to be caused by bad drivers.  I have no idea how to get updated drivers, MS doesn't have them and HP doesn't seem to either.

A:Replace Ralink RT3290 Wi-Fi adapter

Hi: The Ralink RT3290 Wi-Fi adapter is a single band (2.4 GHz only) wifi card. Hint:  Anytime you see a wifi N adapter with a suffix of b/g/n, it is a single band card. Dual band cards have a suffix ending in a/b/g/n or a/g/n. You are correct...HP does not offer any dual band cards for your notebook, and if you try to install one, the BIOS will reject the card, and halt on boot until the unsupported wlan card is removed.

Hi Forum! Since today morning my RT3290 WiFi adapter connects to my router with 72Mbps. Researching, I found that 20Mhz band is being used instead of 40Mhz. I have tried upgrading to latest drivers and downgrading till 5.0.23.0 driver versions but nothing worked.  My Online Gaming performance has been hit and thats very frustrating. For Confirmation, I have checked my friend's Laptop and his connection shows 150Mbps. I have checked the Advanced tab for the driver and there is no option to select 40Mhz band.  Can anybody please help me?

Try disabling IP v6 in the advanced properties of the adapter: Click Start, and then click Control Panel. Click Network and Sharing Center. In the View your active networks area, click Local Area Connection  (in your case wireless connection), and then click Properties. On the Networking tab, clear the Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) check box, and then click OK.

Hi all experts out there. Previously, I have posted about my Wi-Fi problem here. I finally just get my laptop to the HP Service Center. They told me that the Wi-Fi card I have (Ralink RT3290) is broken. They want to change it for me but it cost me a lot. So I'm thinking to replace it myself. The problem is, does my laptop (HP 14-r015tx) has BIOS "whitelisting" for Wi-Fi modules? If yes, what cards I can use to replace the current Ralink RT3290 802.11bgn WLAN card? If no, what cards I can use to replace the current Ralink RT3290 802.11bgn and where to buy? Here are some about my PC:HP 14 Notebook PC, 14-r015txIntel Core i5-4210U 3MB L3 Cache2x 4GB DDR3L 1600MHz RAMNVIDIA GeForce 820M 2GB GDDR3Windows 10 Home 64-bit (originally OEM)Ralink RT3290 802.11bgn WLAN + Bluetooth 4.0Realtek Ethernet Thank you kindly.

A:Replacing the Wi-Fi card on HP 14-r015tx from Ralink RT3290

There is no whitelisting but you are tackling a pretty difficult job here. This is the Manual: Service Manual See p. 71. The list of original HP components is there on p. 71. I am concerned that there may only be 1 wireless antenna provided which is going to make it impossible to use any of the really high-end wi-fi cards on the market.  Since your module is both Bluetooth and WiFi I assume you want a card that can do both so your only choice is to get an exact replacement for what you had or get the Realtek. Realtek or Ralink is a choice with no good answer.  Perhaps the best thing to do if you really want to do this on your own is to open it and see if there is one antenna or 2. Once we figure that out we can advise the best module for you to buy. Amazon has them and you can get quick shipping so do not need to leave it apart for long.  Post back for any more help. If you want to just go forward here is the Realtek card.  http://www.amazon.com/Sparepart-RT8723BE-802-11bgn-Bluetooth-753077-005/dp/B016UE4IHA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=... And the Ralink: http://www.ebay.com/itm/HP-Pavilion-11-N-Series-Wireless-WiFi-Card-690020-005-Tested-/262453868807?h... From the price you can see sellers pretty much give these away since nobody really wants one.  If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

I am using an Hp 2000 Notebook PC, and the wireless adapter that came installed on the computer is a Ralink RT5390 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter.  I have run the driver update tool, and it says that I have the most up to date driver installed.  I have also run the "Diagnose Problem" tool, and it says that there are no problems.  However, the computer constantly looses internet connection.  I assume it has something to do with the wireless adapter, because all of the other wireless devices in the house have no issues. The operating System is Windows 7.  I am somewhat tech savvy and can normally figure out issues by just playing with it for a while, but this one has me dumb founded, and its extremely annoying when you're trying to do something and you just loose connection and have to start all over again. Please help!!!

Hey all!

Few days ago I got Acer V5-531. On this laptop, I can easily connect to wireless networks, but my home one. I could do it on my old laptop with no problems. How is it possible to solve this? It's getting quite annoying, especially knowing that this is the only network I can't connect to. In case with this network, it prompts password and then says "Unable to connect".

What have I tried

Air Mode is off
Updating/rolling drivers back
Resetting the router once (owned by neighbor, thus, I cant perform all maintenance on it)
router lights are on
pw is correct
wireless switch is on
What else can be done?
Thanks all!

For the fastest repair option, you could do a repair install.

Repair Install

You do not need to upgrade your OS to fix the issue.

When did this start happening?

Install any hardware or software recently?

I have an Alienware Auroa R3 machine that has an onboard Ralink 802.11BGN 1T1R networking card. Yesterday, I purchased a Netgear router (Model WNDR3400v2). I set up both the G and the N networks and I can connect to the G with no issues at all. The issue is that I cannot see the N connection in my windows wireless connection area to connect to it.

Here is info from my router:

Since I know the SSID of the N, I tried to set it up manually. This doesn't seem to work either. It is just not possible for the card I have to see the N network? If it is possible, how do I connect to it?

Here is what I can see to connect to:

Here is the manual entered N connection I can't connect to:

Thanks for any help at all. I'd love to use that extra speed.

I think your a little confused, what you are setting up is a 2.4Ghz network and a 5Ghz network, referring to them as N and G isn't very accurate because each frequency is capable of working with either N or G or both at once.

I believe the reason you can't see the 5Ghz network is because your wireless card isn't a dual band version.

You would typically need to purchase another card "dual band" that can handle both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz frequency's. After that you will be able to see both bands from your new router.

A:Notebook drops wifi connection randomly- Ralink network card

It sounds to me like a signal problem. A competing signal drowning out your wireless signal can cause these kinds of random losses.

To test for this try this program:
inSSIDer for Home – Discover The Wi-Fi Around You | MetaGeek
It will tell you if you have a stronger signal in your area that is interfering with the channel.

Hi: Very few HP consumer notebooks come with dual band cards. The RTL8188EE is a single band card. You do not need to do any extensive research on figuring it out. Any wireless card with a bgn suffix is a single band card. Any wireless card with an abgn or agn suffix is a dual band card.

(My operating system is Windows 7 Home Premium)I have had this laptop since 2011 and somewhere in 2012 I think I somehow deleted the ralink WiFi adapter.I haven't been able to use WiFi since then.I got on the HP Recovery Manager and reinstalled the drivers and it alerted me that Ralink 802.11 b/g/n WiFi Adapter was unable to reinstall. So I looked it up and downloaded it on this website and it saved in a folder called c:\SWSetup\SP56942But after that nothing happens. Can anyone help me out?

A:Unable to connect to WiFi?

Hi: If your notebook is missing the wireless card driver, there should be a device listed in the device manager under an Other Devices category named Network Controller. Please post the hardware ID for the network controller device so I can figure out what driver it needs. To find the hardware ID, go to the device manager and click on the Network Controller device. Then click on the Details tab at the top of the Network Controller window. Now you will see a Property drop down list and it will be set to Device Description. Drop down on that list and select the 2nd item (Hardware ID's). Post the top string of characters that you see in the window.

Ok so I am working at a friend's house and I have run into a debacle. He needs his wireless adapter to be in a new room with better reception for the house. There are two Wall ports let's say port A and port B. He used to be in port A but wants to move to Port B. When hard connected to either port the internet works fine as well as generates the same IP, DNS, and gateway settings. When I connect Wireless however only port A connects to the internet. Port B will not connect to the internet even though the IP, DNS, and gateway are still the same when I check the wireless ipconfig. Any ideas. I have tried renewing, refreshing, flushing dns cache, making sure his ipv4 is automatic.

A:Wifi unable to connect to DNS

Are these ports connected to a router - whats the make and model of the router
Does if have two fixed IP address OR perhaps the DNS is set to 2 only

can we see an ipconfig /all please
------------------------------------------------------------------------
ipconfig /all

We would like to see the results from an ipconfig /all - post back the results in a reply here.

If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post the results in a reply here.
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and paste here.

If you do not have another PC - do you have a phone connected to the internet - can you photograph the result and post the image in a reply
Note: you will see entries named Tunnel adapter Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface: we dont need to see that information - JUST the infomation above those entries

For Windows 8
To open a Cmd Prompt or an Administrator Cmd prompt from the Desktop.
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/open-an-elevated-command-prompt-in-windows-8/
Use Win + X and choose Command Prompt or Command Prompt (Admin) from the list.
For windows version, XP, Vista, W7
Hold the Windows key and press R

Now type CMD

Now press Enter to open a command prompt box (A new dialogue box - black with white font, will appear on screen ):
In the command prompt window that opens, type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

ipconfig /all > network.txt & network.txt
It will export the results into notepad and then automatically open the notepad and display on your screen.

Now all you need to do is copy and paste those results into a reply here
to do that:
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Select all
all the text will now be highlighted
Next
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Copy

Now go back to the forum - goto the reply and then right click in the reply box and paste the results.
The results from the notepad should now appear in the forum reply.

I am having trouble connecting to any websites through wifi. I have connected to the wifi and used CMD to ping google.com and i get no errors but when i open my browser and try it it says "? Make sure the web address Google is correct ? look for the page with your search engine ? Refresh the page in a few minutes. " all of which i have done i then proceeded to click the Fix connection problems button and i get an alert saying nothing could be found. How do i fix it?

A:Unable to connect through wifi

Which web browser are you using? If you are using internet explorer, do a reset by going to tools, internet options, advanced, reset, ok, then start browser again. Make sure there are no proxies set that would interfere.

Also check any security software or antivirus, they can cause this problem many times.

Please post a  MiniToolBox log, so we can see the specs of your computer. Also this seems like a network issue, and a MOD may want to move it to the appropriate category.

Hi,

I am using a Nokia Siemens router. Using two laptops one with Vista and another with XP-SP3. My laptop is Acer and my wifes is HCL. And now the issue is that after i set the Security for network with WPA-PSK. My wifes laptop detects and tries to Connect with the network but finally it fails. I tried some possible steps and it didnt work. My Vista Laptop works fine after i delete the old access point.

Can Someone help me to fix this ?

A:Unable to connect thru wifi

She's using the same Network SSID and WPA-PSK security and algorithms and shared key?

The router is set to allow ALL MAC access (not block by MAC)?

The router is set for multiple access (usually a 50 address range)?

The wireless network mode is set compliant with her mode (G, B)?

I'm just rambling off everything I can think of.

it may be that the hardware in the HCL PC does not support WPA-PSK - depending on how old - but also may just need a driver update

Whats the exact make and model of the HCL - see if a later driver is available from the manufacturers website

A:my PC is unable to connect to wifi

Hi, if you right click on the network that you're trying to connect to is there a "forget network" option or anything similar? If so click it and forget the network, then it will prompt you for the new password when you try to connect after forgetting it

Hi there,

My neighbour has a problem which I've tried to help with, but have to say am stumped....

He is running a cable modem into a wireless router (Belkin), but since changing ink cartridges on the printer (maybe a coincidence) has lost his internet connection.

The PC (desktop running Xp) connects to the network, but there is no internet connection. I've been there with my laptop and all is well.

It also seems that every time you try to do something with network connections etc, the PC freezes the window/app and you have to reboot/log off and on.

I've never seen this before, but am thiniking pehaps the network card is done for.

Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Thanks
BJB

A:Unable to connect to Net via WiFi

Can't think of any reason changing the ink cartridges should effect the internet connection.

If I understand the problem:

Cable Modem --------> Belkin Router ---------> Desktop
No internet connection for the desktop.

Are you sure the Desktop is connecting to the Belkin? Can he access the Belkin's user interface from the desktop? If he can acccess the Belkin, then the card and cable is probably OK.

Did he try connecting directly to the cable modem to see if that works?

If you connected wireless, try connecting your laptop by the same ethernet cable to see if that works?

Could you supply the followong information for the desktop?

Taken from a JohnWill post.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following commands, one at a time, followed by the Enter key:

Note that there is a space before the -n or the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the - or / in the following commands.

NBTSTAT -n

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter to copy the contents to the clipboard.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

has windows 8 now been completely re-installed ?

can you connect to the router with a cable and does it work that way

is it a desktop or laptop ?
Check the wireless is switched ON
theres often a physical switch or a combination of the FN and one of the F keys to toggle the wireless on/off
often F2 is used - but note , not always - look for a symbol that looks a little like (( i ))

is the wireless on?

Hi,

Hope you are all doing good. From past few days I am not able to connect to any wireless networks on my laptop which is running windows 7 64-bit. I didn't change/install anything, it stopped working suddenly. I was able to connect to LAN and it's working perfectly fine. All other devices (phones and others computers) are able to connect to my Wi-Fi networks. I tried many things like re-installing my Wi-Fi adapter drivers, reset my router, clearing the Wi-Fi networks and adding them, many reboots, and few steps like clearing DNS and other settings as per the instructions on the Microsoft website. Can you please review and advise a good solution. Please let me know if you need any further info.

Thank you in advance.

Do you have service pack 3?

Please attach a screen shot of the Networks page (don't collapse the Radar, Connection or Signal History) of the Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector. If you need help with that see TSG Posting a Screenshot. FWIW to take screen shots with Windows 7 or Vista I prefer to use the built-in Snipping Tool.

Open a (black) Command Prompt window:
Hold the Windows logo key and press r; in the Run box type cmd and click on OK.

Type the following command:

Hello, I'm having some wifi issues. In the past few weeks I've only been able to use the internet on my laptop when connected via ethernet, despite having used the same wireless, router, laptop, etc perfectly fine for years!

When I first start up my laptop, I can see the list of my available connections. I press connect for my usual home router and then it will say "Windows was unable to connect to blahblahblah". And then the list will have a red cross and claim no connections are available.

If I press troubleshoot problem, Windows Network Diagnostics says to "investigate router or access point issues", which involves turning the device off (done this several times). When I select "check to see if problem is fixed", it thinks for a bit then says "Windows cannot resolve your wireless connectivity issue".

Please can you help?

A:Windows unable to connect to Wifi

Welcome to BC. !

Have you Reset the router ?....this usually involves inserting the end of a paperclip into a tiny hole located on the router itself......google the name of the router and it will show you where that hole is.
The word Reset should be written directly above/beside the hole.

To do this, press and hold the Reset button for 10 seconds. NOTE: Resetting your router to its default factory settings will also reset your router's password. The router's default password is “admin” as for the username, just leave the field blank.

Ever since I got internet home service with Charter, I have been unable to connect to public hotspots. or rather I can connect for about 15 sec, and then my computer automatically disconnects. This never happened when I had home service with Verizon. Is there a setting that needs to be changed on my HP?

A:unable to connect to public wifi

Do you actually get connected and are able to see a web page at a public hotspot? Have you made SURE your firewall is properly configured to allow you to connect to the hotspot? Perhaps you've restricted the connection to a specific IP address subnet?
Let's see this when you're at home, and again when you try to connect to a public hotspot.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the software and whereas previously today it found my router (but wouldn't connect it says not associated) when I search now it doesnt even come up!

Windows device manager says the adpater is working properly

When installing router and adapter I set them both to WPA2 and used the same passkey.
I am using Windows 7

Please can someone advise

thanks

I try to connect to hotspot in friends phone for file transfer from WIFI.
But since my friends data connection is off, and when i try to connect , it shows me "no internet access" and wifi doesnot get connected .
After turning on-off wifi multiple times (around 15-20 times), sometimes it gets connected . But it never gets connected in 1 shot .
Is it compulsory to have internet access to connect to a hotspot?
Is it bug or feature of windows ?
I use lumia 640xl lte with latest windows 10 Anniversary update.

I'm unable to connect with some Hotel wifi's but many others there's not an issue. The hotels where I can not connect sees the wifi and says it connects, but the browse and everything else says it's not connected. When connected to many Hotels a splash page will appear for acknowledgements or passwords, but no splash pages appear when I can not connect. I have not updated or know that I need to update my wifi drivers, but the Hotels I'm having issues with are not the ones with the newest routers and my home wifi is the latest technology.

I've had issues in the past and I do not remember any of the solutions. Would flushing the DNS help? I'm running Win 8.1.

Thank you

A:Unable to connect to wifi at some hotels and able to with many others

Some of it will depend how the hotel manages their network. Some use passwords, some use splash screens and some just have open networks. Some splash redirects don't work right away and take a couple minuets to come up. specially if its a small hotel and its check in time. Other redirects don't work with some browsers like Chrome. Last, try manually entering in a website in the address bar to trigger the redirect.

I  am hoping to upgrade my slow connecting RT3290 on 15E-084ca. Looking for dual band adapter. Please suggest some thing which will work with this model .

A:Network card upgrade from RT3290

Hi, Your machine is an HP Pavilion 15-e084ca Notebook PC which was built early 2013. The chance to upgrade WiFi card is slim to nil because the whitelist in BIOS. Option: if you wish, buy a dongle USB wireless ac card, not expensive. Regards.

I bought a new Sony Vaio laptop with Windows 8 installed in it. I'm able to connect to Wifi networks at home but not at work. My laptop has a "Qualcomm Atheros AR9485WB EG" WiFi driver installed. I tried to rollback the Wifi drivers and connect but still I'm not able to succeed. Could someone please help me out to solve this issue?

Thanks in advance.

This morning I tried connecting to wifi to WiFi suddenly unable ok router connect, but it wouldn't connect WiFi suddenly unable to connect, router ok saying that there was quot no internet connection quot it was working fine yesterday evening I restarted the modem router and verified that it was working with other devices I've tried disabling amp re-enabling the wifi adapter double checked that the wifi button was toggled on ipconfig release amp renew and a few other things but nothing has fixed the problem At this point if I restart my computer I can connect to my router for a brief period lt minute before the connection terminates and won't connect again The wifi tray icon has a yellow circle on it and I can see the available networks but I can't connect to them If I try the windows troubleshooter it will say either to check the router amp or that the LAN is disabled Running ipconfig -all shows that the media state is disconnected even though it looks to be on enabled through device manager the control panel network adapter page and the keyboard wifi button is on How can I figure out where the problem is It isn't the router since it works with other devices but it doesn't entirely seem to be the network card either since it can still see the available networks but just can't connect to them Does anyone have any idea of what to do NIC Broadcom b g n driver version
