Q: I have an HP ENVY 750-177c and was upgrading and 2 thin blac...

I have an HP ENVY 750-177c and was upgrading and 2 thin black wires got disconnected from the motherboard. They have loops on the end of the wires that look like they could slip on pins. The wires connect to the top of the computer box. Where do I reconnect them at?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I purchased my HP Envy 750-177c at Costco 11 days ago.  I left it for a while - just ate dinner - and when I came back, the computer had shut down and now will not start. There is power to the computer as I can see the Green LED at the back of the case.  The directions listed in this forum on how to troubleshoot and start the computer have been explicitly followed.  The computer still will not start! I am a very unhappy camper!!!! Please contact me.

A:envy 750-177c

Hi "Please contact me. " The green LED may well be the Network on LED.  So if there is an ethernet  cable connected, disconnect it and see if there is an LED showing. If not.... Perhaps if you took it back to Costco and asked for a refund?

A:Envy 750-177c has no sound

@stevenrn47?, welcome to the forum. HP desktop computers do not come with speakers built-in.  Therefore, you have to use the speakers in the monitor or buy separate speakers.  If you have it connected to a monitor or speakers, go into the Control Panel / Sound to assure that your sound device is set to Default. Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.

I'm attempting to utilize the Asset Tag located in the Bios as the Host Name for the device.  I found in the forum how to script this, however, when I enter into the Bios I'm unable to update any of the System Information settings.  I've tried the Cntl+A but as soon as I hit it it just closes out of the window (window says "Press Any Key to Continue" at the bottom).  Any assistance would be appreciated. Matt

I'm interested in purchasing an HP ENVY 720-220 computer. The specs look great, but I'd love to upgrade the RAM. According to the product specifications, it is upgradable to 16 GB. Now, my question is, would HP be willing to upgrade the RAM themselves if I paid an additional fee? I know the guide to upgrade RAM is online, but I'd rather not take the risk and mess up the machine.  Thank you ahead of time.

Hello, I would like to upgrade the GPU and PSU on a  HP Envy H8-1437c.  The GPU I am wanting to upgrade to is the GEFORCE GTX 970.  It is 10" in length, PCI Express 3.0,  and a dual port (or double wide?).  The PSU is  a  EVGA Supernove Nex650G.  Are there any proprietary power connectors on the current psu that I should be worried about? Am I able to upgrade the current GPU (NVIDIA GeForce GT 620 )to the GEFORCE GTX 970? Thank you very much!

Hi, I had a problem with my old HDD installed on my HP ENVY 15-j012la, so I bought a new 240 gb SSD (Crucial BX200). I replaced the HDD with the SSD, then turn the laptop ON with the USB Win10 image to install it on the SSD, but the installer didn't recognized it. I gave format to the SSD, but the problem remains. I've read that the SATA should be changed in the BIOS, but this laptop has the InsydeH20 3.7 and there's no way to change to AHCI. I would be very grateful if you could help with this issue! Best !

I'm interested in swapping out my current HDD and replacing it with an SSD. Are there any limitations on the size of SSD I can install? Will a 1tb work or am I limited to 512gb or anything like that? Are there any complications I should be aware of while considering this upgrade? Thanks a bunch!

A:upgrading Envy m6 1125dx with SSD, are there any limitations...

See p. 48 of the Manual here: M6 service Manual https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7kLMZoGoTs There is no limit to the SSD you can install other than your budget. Any 2.5 inch SATA SSD that is 7mm thick which almost all are.  http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA6BM3T90744&cm_re=Samsung_850_Evo-_-20-147-373-_-... The Samsung Evo 850 is my choice but OCZ, Kingston, several others make a good product so as long as it is a name brand you can shop on price and there are deals to be had.  Software reinstallation/migration can be hard but if you have Windows 10 you always know you can download an install disk and you do not need a Key Code to reinstall and it will activate when you connect to the internet. Windows 10 allows you to make a system image and you can also use cloning software. For example would these ones work finehttp://www.corsair.com/en/vengeance-8gb-high-performance-sodimm-memory-upgrade-kit-cmsx8gx3m2a1600c9 ?Lastly does upgrading memory require any other configurations after plugin them in? Schwaa, welcome to the forum. This was a very good review of how you upgraded your computer.  What you discovered are the problems that are created by a mid-size case.  It would be great if HP would offer a full size case for their gaming computers.  What you accomplished should make a major difference in performance.

The service guide for the HP Laptop ENVY 17-j013cl indicates the largest SSD that is compatible is 160GB.  Does the service guide state this because, at the time the ENVY 17 was produced, the largest SSD was 160GB?   Or is the system limited to 160GB SSD, for some reason? Thanks.

I picked up a refurbished HP ENVY 750-137C, and am currently looking to upgrade the graphics. I don't want to break the bank, but I do want it to last me some time, so I'm looking at the Nvidia GEFORCE GTX 1070.  Aside from the changes in power requirements, does anyone know if this card would be compatible, and if there are any issues to this upgrade? Also, Nvidia recommends a 500W power supply for this card. Would that be enough, or is that genrous number? Additionally, if anyone has a power supply product they would recommend for this theoretical combination, I would greatly appreciate the advice. Thanks!

A:Upgrading to GTX 1070 Graphics Card for HP ENVY 750-137C

@Drifterx311?, welcome to the forum. Here are the full specs of the card on nVidia's website.  The card is double slot and 10.5" in length.  I suggest measuring from the Back I/O plate to the front of the case to see how much space is available.  I believe that it will fit, but it will be tight. As you stated, the specs recommend a 500W power supply unit (PSU).  Personally, I would buy one with at least 600W.  This will give you some extra power for peak needs.  I like Corsair products.  Here are some PSU's for you to review at Newegg.  If you choose a modular PSU it will allow you to only install the cables that are absolutely necessary.  This allows for better airflow.  The PSU is the backbone of the computer.  Read the Customer Reviews to see what users have to say about them.  A good PSU will make your system run much better. Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.

Hi, I hope someone can help me. Here is what I done:

Turned on machine, downloaded windows update, shut computer down. Everything downloaded ok, on the blue screen after shutdown.

Went to turn machine back on. Everything seemed normal. Got to the blue screen which was configuring the updates. Got to 30%. Then it suddenly restarted, passed the screen which says windows is starting (with the flag above it), but thats all. It hasnt got to the configure screen, just a blank black screen.

If someone can help, I will truly appreciate it. The computer is still on as this happened minutes ago.

Thanks!

Im planning to buy a HP Envy 13  to use for school, since this notebook is lightweight and thin and the battery life (from what I've read) is decent. I've noticed that there are 2 HP ENVYs available, both with the same specs, both with the same price ( ENVY 13-d120nd and ENVY 13-d010nd). The right hinge on my Envy 17 Touch Screen has failed, causing the case to become separated and the lid to be nearly impossible to close. This is the second Envy 17 to fail in this way. About a year ago my husband's broke and HP spent nearly three months attempting to repair it before finally just shipping him a new one. This appears to be a flaw in the construction of the hinge assembly, and we have noticed that the newer models, such as my husband's replacement, have a much improved design in comparison. We spent about $1,300 on this computer (it has an i7 Core and 16 GB of RAM) and hoped it would hold up for a while. The laptop was great, but now it has become difficult to use without fear of causing further damage. Thank you for any suggestions.

Recently noticed the notebook wasn't aligned to my desk. Thought the feet on the bottom were uneven. They're fine. The notebook seems to have a "bubble" on the keyboard where it's higher than the rest of the keyboard. Obviously it's impacting the entire notebook since it's no longer sitting level. I'm concerned it's going to impact the performance of the keyboard and the fact that it's not even and "rocks" when I'm typing is driving me crazy.   Can someone please direct me on how this can be repaired. It was purchased new in 2013.

I am trying to create a remote connection to my server at work (os ms windows 2003) - I currently have the vpn in place but the software I need to access requires a thin client. Do I need any additional hardware ? or can I run the software directly on the server to accomplish the same thing. also is there a certain type of thin client software that i should use? The software company said they have used "graph on" thin client before? I think that this company may be oob - because I can't find them. Any help would be appreciated!!! thank you

A:thin client

software usage has nothing to do with running a thin client.
the software needs to be installed/running from the server.

You ran the rras wizard and setup the vpn.
Now you need to logon remotely from any pc using remote desktop.
Test local RDP access before moving on to access from home.

Recently I was shown a presentation about nComputing by some IBM people. I noted that it can have 6 screens and keyboards operating at the same time. Drawback is that we teach Turbo Pascal for Windows and it has problems operating. Yes, PAscal in this age, pretty lame but its our national curriculum.

We have a lotta Dell's. Does Dell give such technology?

Questions:
Do other company's have such technology?
Which one's are the best?
Which one do you thnk we should invest in?

PS Ignore the Turbo PAscal part, we've got 40 PC's to handle that problem.

A:OS Gone..vanished into thin air

Hi and welcome to TSF please try this
1. Start your computer from the Windows 7 installation DVD or Repair CD.
2. Select Repair your computer.
3. Load driver.
4. Go to Computer and right click drive where Windows 7 is installed.
5. Select Properties and uncheck "Compress drive to save disk space".
6. Close and restart the computer normally.

I have seen a number of posts in which people reported that they were unable to boot from the CD/DVD drive. Here are the most common reasons for such failures:
a) The poster failed to set the correct boot order in the BIOS.
b) The poster overlooked the prompt to press a key in order to boot from the CD/DVD drive.
c) The boot CD/DVD was not a boot disk or was damaged. Using it on another machine confirmed this.
d) Some BIOS setting was incorrect. Booting with some other boot CD/DVD.
e) The CD/DVD drive was damaged or unable to boot from a boot CD or DVD.
f) The machine had a hardware problem (e.g. a motherboard problem) that prevented it from booting in any mode

Two IBM 8362-A52's and one NCD Explora 402

What could they be used for other than as clients in a business network?
Do they have any practical value as stand alone units or some how used in a home network?

Sorry, my imagination seems lacking for their use around the house, so help me out if you know of some interesting uses or projects...

I'm not sure what exactly is causing the BSODs on my laptop. This is a Dell Latitude 5500. I have been getting PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED BSODs for a while. Then yesterday I ran memtest and discovered one of my 2GB DIMMs was bad. After removing it, the PAGE_FAULT BSODs stopped. Now I am getting BAD_POOL_HEADER BSODs along with Bug Check Code 0x19 with 0x20 as the first parameter.

I already ran CHKDSK C: /F and it did find some errors which were then fixed. But I'm afraid the BSOD is going to come back during the most crucial moments.

The original Minidump in Blueview tells me the culprit is the ntoskrnl.exe but why?? It also mentions TCPIP.SYS and IGXPMP32.SYS. The OS is Windows XP Professional SP3 with 2GB of RAM currently.

Can anyone help?

Does anybody have any experience with Sunray II thin clients? More specifically, Windows Connector 2.1 for port redirection.

I am running Sunray Software 4 (considering 5, which is suppose to better for this) and a virtual Sunray server with VSphere on a Linux Redhat OS. The Sunray server redirects the Sunray II client to a Windows Terminal Server (Server 2003) session. What I am trying to do is to redirect the USB port from the Sunray II client to directly to the Terminal Server through the active session. The reason being, is that I have software that identifies a scanner through IP assignment of the device (yes, each Sunray II is assigned a static IP).

Any ideas?

Hello all,

I have recently upgraded from 7 to 8. Have only one complaint - in 7 I used to be able to make my taskbar thin while in the vertical (LHS) of the screen, it was a bit hacky, you had to:

Set the taskbar to autohide
Stop the "desktop window manager session manager" service
Restart the service
Turn autohide off

I had written a batch file and just set it to run at start and it worked fine.

However it doesn't work in 8 and examining the list of services, it seems that desktop window manager session manager has disappeared. A quick look at the wiki page says that it now cannot be disabled and is running all the time.

Is there any way to do this in Win 8?

To clarify, I'm trying to get this:
Instead of this:
Any options considered!

Thanks in advance

Right click taskbar - select properties. You will see taskbar location on screen box with dropdowns of bottom, left, right, and top. Select the position you wish it to be and click "apply". Taskbar will change to that position. Hope this is what you want. If you use small icons, it will be thin, I believe.

Hi there....
if the screenshot wont duplicate what your seeing, its 100% monitor related.

the panel itself may be on the verge of failing (or at the very least loosing the pixels in question forever), is it always in the same spot..??

Does anyone know where I can find a sata cable where the plug is the thin all the way through? I think the one that I am using now will become unplugged every so often and my computer is getting a BSOD. I do notice that when this happens, the cable is loose and not snapped in like the 3.5" drive I have. I tried to file down the fat part on the cable, but that didn't help much. It is plugged into my SSD that is mounted on a 2.5" to 3.5" bracket.

A link to a cable or ideas to how you got around it would be greatly appreciated.

Any ideas?

Hi there.
We are a Sun Microsystems reseller and Sun Ray specialists in Canada. Our team has worked with many different markets including Healthcare where the Sun Ray system is widely deployed. Sun Ray 5 or SRSS 4.2 is available and passes USB devices from the Sun Ray DTU to the Windows 2003 Terminal Server. You might want to look at Sun Ray VDI 3.1 which allows you the flexibility of virtual desktops and full USB redirection in Windows XP and supports Windows 2008 Remote Desktop Services (formerly TS) with Session Directory. Hi all,

I'm doing some work on a Windows XPe - HP thin clent machine, i have an issue where the anti virus service needs to be stopped and restarted on login...nice and simple, i've created a batch net start, net stop command and chucked it in the all users startup folder and given full control over it to the normal user.....HOWEVER the first one i created i had typed the name of the service incorrectly so i edited it and it worked fine, however when i then rebooted the machine the old batch file came back.....tried deleting the batch file and rebooting but the batch file still came back :|
Anyone got any wisdom as to why? I.E. is it cashing the info or something? and how do i permentanly delete and recreate?
Help much appreciated

Joe

I'm not a network admin, however I can offer my still offer my advise.

Could the Thin Client be trying to do a network boot and not being able to complete it hangs at the intel boot agent?

I'd look at the boot priority order.

Hi there.. I have Epson LQ-310 hooked on Hp Thin Client T5740 (WES 2009) When I turn on the printer the WES 2009 try to install the printer driver but in the end I got error install the printer driver. ..please help Thanks

A:HP Thin Client T5740

Did you disable the Write Filter that the change gets applied? Also the driver might need more space on the ramdrive. You could enhance the ramdrive for that. Also you could change the Temp Folder via Control Panel - System - Advanced - Environment Variables and changes the Variables TEMP and TMP in "User variables" and "System variables" to a different drive / network drive.and after a successful installation undo those changes.

Hi,
We have been trying to get RemoteFX up and running on our HP thin clients mainly for the USB redirection feature.  I have been all over the internet looking for ways to accomplish this.  I have seen in several places where I need to go in to the
local group policy editor, but this is not available on the thin client.  So basically my question is how do I enable/configure remotefx on a thin client?  I believe it is set up on the server side.
Thanks.

We have multible labs in the environment I manage that use ThinClients. I have configured each lab seperately so the thinclients automatically join their proper VMs once logged in. Everything works great for a while, then out of nowhere the clients will revert it's settings back to a snapshot saved on the disk. I have just recently discovered there were snapshots even saved on the disk lol, I was baffled for a while how it was changing back to old settings. So my question...is there a reason it decides to just randomly revert to an old snapshot? The clients are configured so users can't make any changes at all. I suppose I could delete the old snapshots, but that doesn't necessarily get rid of the root issue here. Any insight is appreciated!

A:Win 7 Antivirus 2012 - vanished into thin air?

It's a fake antivirus (Dangerous rogue software) It disable certain anti-virus/anti-malware software installed on the computer that keep you safe also take over firefox and internet explorer ect ... . A good way to remove it is to disable xp anti-virus 2012 or w 7 anti-virus you will have to bring up task-manger press ctrl + alt+ delete key all at the same time, then you will have find any 3 letter exe file . Like nyo.exe under the processes tab end process then you can remove it off your computer with this fake antvirus removal software link just copy and paste to your address bar: http://freeofvirus.blogspot.com/2009/05/remove-fake-antivirus-10.html

These Thin Clients are HP specific (T610 and t5740e). It appears to be running updates sporadically throughout the day.  They are not on the domain and are not showing in WSUS.  Other than disabling Windows Updates, is there a way to manage
them from HP Device Manager or is there something I am missing with these.

I am running a WYSE / Windows Terminal Service network.
WYSE 3150 clients

I am trying to get a WYSE terminal to conenct to a USB camera so I can download pictures. I found the binary addon files for a Mass Storage device.

I get the same problem each time I try to connect the USB. I get a WYSE popup asking me what the name of the USB Driver is. I have tried every combination of teh Storage driver name I can think of and it's still not working.

I have just signed up for WYSE web support, but that takes a few days to get approved by WYSE. Anyone have any thoughts to help me out?

Dan

A:WYSE Thin Clients - Addon Help

I'd consider using a USB reader for the FLASH card in the camera, you'll probably have better luck with that. If the camera requires any sort of driver, you're probably going to have issues with these terminals.

How can I remove thin case badges(I'm changing case)?

I'm not talking about the thick ones with transparent plastic on the front but more about ones made of 3 plies (aluminium, paper, metal sheet), like the "Sounds best on SoundBlaster 24-bit" or "Geared by MSI" if you ever saw these.

A:Removing thin case badges?

Good question, got no idea except razor blade or some type of solution or solvent. But if you do get it off, chances are good the original stick won't be there.

But that leads to another similar question, how to get an XP product key sticker off? For same reason, just changing case or selling a case, whatever. I can work them off with a razor but it ain't pretty.
