I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

So, after the CMOS battery failed, I've attempted to replace it with a newer model. Disassembly has been a nightmare - great design, by the way - and I'm now in a situation where the laptop just won't turn on at all. Not a flicker of LED, nothing. I've made sure that all the blue zero-insertion-force cables are fitted correctly, all of it is plugged in, but nothing. Not from battery, not from mains. So this Christmas i was very excited to get this laptop and it cost me Overall this is an outstanding laptop aside that the graphics card could be better and the sound quality from the speakers isn't as good as I expected it to be Anyway back to my question I have been using the laptop all day long and so far everything is working randomly HP off turns beats screen pavillion normally However at times randomly without any notice the screen goes black and it basically freezes This happend once while I was typing and once when I was watching a video I have been active both times that it turns off and the battery is never near death when it does this While the screen is frozen I cannot do anything with HP pavillion beats screen randomly turns off it only turn it off HP pavillion beats screen randomly turns off And to give you closure I HP pavillion beats screen randomly turns off did try turning the nbsp backlit keyboard on and off no changes whatsoever and I also tried pressing the Caps Lock button to find a resonse and as presumed no lights turning on nothing Like I said when these pauses happen I am highly active and the battery is charged If it helps I haven't experienced them WHILE the laptop was charging It's a shame that such a great laptop has a simple flaw that could probably be easily fixed nbsp Thanks for listening Jalen Solved View Solution
You are a godsend. Very useful info. Thank you so very much. Which brings me to my last question; in the document, it mentioned manually restarting the computer with the power button when the lock ups occur due to overheating, unable to produce image on screen, etc. I was wondering if manually restarting the PC this way would at all cause damage or cause the PC to be slower in the future. Thank you so much again for your help! Jalenhttp://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-System-and-Recovery/HP-pavillion-beats-screen-randomly-turns-off/td-p/4797267

I apologize for being a bit of a newbie on the subject, but I'll try my best to explain. I'm trying to get my Beats Audio to work on Linux. I found a way that has worked for some people which involves remapping certain audio pins, but I don't know what pins to map to what. I have had to replace the hard drive in my laptop and the volume of my Beats Audio speaker is not as high as it should be. I assume a driver needs to be installed. I am currently running Windows 8.1. Please advise if this is a driver issue and where I can find the driver needed and instructions to install. Thanks
Please provide the model number or the product number of your system. Also please follow these steps:1. In the search option of Charms Bar type devmgmt.msc. Select the resulted file in the left pane. This opens Device Manager.2. Unknown devices would be listed as such and marked out with a yellow question mark.3. Select the unknown device or other device for which you need drivers and right click to access Properties.4. In the Properties window click on Details tab and select Device Instance Id or Hardware ID from the drop down.5. An alphanumeric string like this PCI\VEN_1217&DEV_7130&SUBSYS_012F1025&REV_01\4&6B16D5B&0&33F0 is the identification marker for the device.6. HP Pavilion 15 Notebook - Windows 8.1 (64bit)Hi there, I am having trouble removing Beats Audio from my laptop. I do a lot of work recording sound and part of that means I need to have a completely flat frequency response coming out of my laptop. I've tried disabling Beats Audio (unticking the box) but even when it is unticked, the faders for the EQ can still be manipulated and still have an effect on the audio. There is also no option to uninstall Beats in the control panel.P.S - I have tried following similar suggestions to uninstall the IDT driver, but I do not have an IDT driver. My drivers are AMD High Definition Audio Device, Cyberlink WebCam Virtual Driver and Realtek High Definition AudioKind regards,-Martin.
Hi @IronhideG Welcome to the HP Forums! It is a terrific place to find answers. For you to have the best experience in the HP forum I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide Learn How to Post and More I understand that you would like to completely remove the Beats Audio. Would you please try the steps posted by @Great-Deku-Tree remove beats. Where it refers to IDT drivers your will substitute AMD as you stated you do not have IDT. Hi I want to instal one SSD disk on my computer. Do anyone now if it is Sata 3 port on this computer ? If it isn`t can I install Sata 3 port or do I have to chang motheboard ! Regards KOB32
Hi: Run this free hardware analyzer that I have zipped up and attached below. Run the file, close the summary window and on the left side of the window, click to expand the Drives section. Then click to expand the sata/atapi drives section. Click on your hard drive name listed there. The first line will be the Drive Controller spec. It will report the hard drive type running at a certain speed. For example Serial ATA 6 Gb/s @ 6 Gb/s. If your notebook only has a SATA II port, it might report Serial ATA 6 Gb/s @ 3 Gb/s, or Serial ATA 3 Gb/s @ 3 Gb/s.

[/B]I have had the notebook for five years; yesterday the following message:
NTLDR is missing
Press ctrl + alt + del to restart
When the user does the instruction, the boot starts and the message repeats.
I really do not want to do a reinstall of the operating system; if someone has away to reinstall just the boot tracks.
 Is this a virues?
Is this the work of a hacker?
Has there been an MS-XP failure?

Check this site out. How to fix: NTLDR is missing, press any key to restart Its long but should fix your problem.

Hello,I was recently given a pavillion dv9821ea laptop which was in bad shape after being infected with a virus. I eventually had to replace the hard drive and at the same time I upgraded the operating system to windows 7 PRO 64bit. I was unable to save nothing from the origonal hard drive, no drivers, HP software etc and since I installed Windows 7, the laptop seems to have several problems including not downloading Windows updates. I connect it to the HP assistant, but this recognises the laptop and only gives me the choice of Windows Vista as the operating system for which to support drivers etc. I wonder if you could help me by letting me know if there is anywhere I can download Windows 7 pro 64bit drivers for this laptop? my wife and I are both disabled and it would make a great difference to me if I could have full use of this laptop. Regards. Gerald
Hi, Gerald: HP did not support that model for W7, and you should be able to use the Vista drivers from the dv9821ea support page except the BIOS and firmware files. Additionally, you can read this helpful dv9000 W7 upgrade guide for some tips on getting W7 to work just fine on that model. http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-System-and-Recovery/Windows-7-Upgrade-Guide-for-dv60...http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Drivers-for-Pavillion-dv9821ea-entertainment-notebook/td-p/5594190

HP Support Assistant reports that there is a software update available to download. Click yellow triangle, get to products, shows a software download available, but does not specify what the download is.
Click on Message / update. Four segment square icon starts rotating through the segments. Runs and runs and runs, now more than 2 hours. Nothing downloads.
This is the third time today I've tried to download the supposed software update. Same result each time. Nothing downloads.
Same result each time.

Hello. I have a HP Pavillion 15 Notebook PC product number: J1X37EA#AB9 with Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4510U CPU @ 2.00GHz 2.60GHz, RAM: 12,0 GB, Windows 10 64-bits and in what comes to graphics i have Intel(R) HD Graphics 4400 and a NVidia GeForce 840M. I believe my intel graphic card is integrated in the board but the Nvidia one can be upgraded. Am I wrong or can I really upgrade my graphics card?
Hi, Unfortunately the Nvidia chip is integrated and not an upgradeable component - this is the case for most consumer class notebooks. Regards, DP-Khttp://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Can-I-upgrade-my-graphic-card-in-my-HP-Pavillion-15-Notebook/td-p/5843097

Hello katrapezo. I understand you're having some trouble recording audio. Have you tried recording in another application such as Sound Recorder? I'd also like you to remove your audio drivers and allow Windows to reinstall them. Here are the steps.Click Start, type "Device Manager," and press Enter.Expand the "Sound, video, and game controllers" section.Right click on your sound card and select "Uninstall."Reboot your computer.Verify whether the problem persists. Also, what is your notebook's product number? This document can show you where it is located.Have a wonderful day.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Audio/HP-Pavillion-dv6-notebook-audio-recording-issue-windows-7/td-p/2737617
hp pavillion laptop 15-p067ca model, purchased year ago, came with windows 8.1, was not updated to windows 10. seems to have a bug: on start up it welcomes me as a user "vladimir" asks for password and then hangs up forever with the white screen and unresponsive. Password I'm sure is right, because if I type different password, machine comes back with "Incorrect password" message. What do you think is a problem and how to go back to factory settings? I have not made a recovery disc. Any comp supposedly have a recovery partition, and Recovery Manager but how can I do anything if Window does not come up?

Sounds like it might be time for a reinstall to refresh the OS and overcome any lingering infection. Follow these same steps for Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 particularly when it comes to drivers and Updates.
Otherwise work through these Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7 including the hardware tests.
Extremely frustrated I've looked and tried to find a solution to no avail When the notebook boots up it gets to the login screen I wouldn't be able to do anything at that point but I can log in because I have a fingerprint scanner from there I'm dead in the water The only way to shut down is to hold down the power button While the computer is in bootup I have touchpad keyboard function I can escape to boot options BIOS repair etc and have normal functionality while there but not in safe mode I have ran SFC with commands several times chkdsk with commands several times nothing changes SFC says it found problems but was not able to fix all of them and keyboard Notebook and on Pavillion HP touchpad 3225dx dv6 Frozen the last chkdsk found nothing wrong Here are the events leading up to had disk errors and bad sectors in old hard drive could not repair cloned old hard drive to new hard drive there were errors but the new hard drive booted and worked for the most part correctly in the process of trying to fix missing setup files for applications and other miscellaneous small issues I ran troubleshooting updates chkdsk sfc etc removed various applications and added a few nothing worked I installed Revo uninstaller to remove Kaspersky Internet Security as it is THE MOST stubborn application to remove I've ever experienced The reason I mention that is because I went through my computer trying to find the leftover files even after Revo because Kaspersky was still running after re-installing it and uninstalling it again There were some files in System that had kaspersky attached to it's description I stopped them from running and deleted them They were close to the kb files and after researching which files Frozen touchpad and keyboard on HP Pavillion dv6 3225dx Notebook to remove I remember in the end of the post it said it wouldn't delete Frozen touchpad and keyboard on HP Pavillion dv6 3225dx Notebook a certain file beacause you wouldn't have keyboard functionality I made sure I didn't but I can't help Frozen touchpad and keyboard on HP Pavillion dv6 3225dx Notebook to think now that out of the files I deleted some of them kernel I may have deleted the mouse and keyboard files in error I tried a System Restore of the most recent point prior to the issue and it did not work I think now that I should have tried it again at an earlier point but didn't and I did that from the repair module obviously since I couldn't do it anywhere else I have tried since to do another but the restore points have disappeared The last time I had a working touchpad keyboard in Windows I ran sfc scannow offbootdir d offwindir d windows at boot in the command prompt I got the same message that it found errors but did not fix them all Then I ran chkdsk f r from boot at the command prompt When I returned to my computer after a couple hours I rebooted and no longer had a touchpad or keyboard I am up in arms and extremely frustratd as I feel I have tried absolutely everything to get them to work again I hope that the only option I have left is to format and clean install I do not have a full back up and can't get one fully executed at this point Please help Thanks in advance to any suggestion and assistance that you may be able to provide it's much appreciated The following link is to the support page of my Notebook http h www hp com ewfrf wc product product amp lc en amp cc us amp dlc en amp lang en amp tmp track link
If you have (and should have) a USB keyboard and mouse connect them and see if they will work.
Since your file system was already corrupted you cloned the bad files to the new drive.
If the USB devices work you should do a Repair Install.
If that doesn't work do this: Using System Recovery, Factory Reset and Minimized Image Recovery Options HP Pavilion dv6-3225dx Entertainment Notebook PC | HP? Support
From this tut:
Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7
On newer models HP Recovery may offer a Minimized OS Recovery option when booting from F11, which retains only the OS, Recovery Manager, HP Support Asst, and HP Wireless LAN. This is as close to a clean reinstall as you can get without doing one yourself.
● If you clean reinstall only to C and leave all other partitions intact, F11 Recovery key should still work later if you need it.
● You can also Extract HP 3rd Party Software from RecovCD.
● Problems with volume control lighting and HP Quick Launch buttons have been dealt with here where you can also get further support.
Several weeks ago I bought the new HP Pavillion dv9574ea notebook and the HEADPHONE SOCKETS do not work - there are two. Only the speakers work. Even when I put a working set of headphones which are the right size, I cannot hear anything through the hearphones. The normal loud speakers however keep working, although they should switch off when the headphones are plugged in.
Please see the screenshot of the drivers active (in system 32 folder) and other details about the headphone socket.
Thank you for any help.

Hi, I am considering to make a Editing PC to make Dub step on, I am definitely getting a pair of Beats Studio Headphones, I wondered what will be the best sound card(I am only using 1 pair of headphones)
I have a recording studio (using Sonar X3). If I wanted the best audio for audio editing, recording, etc I would consider a USB connected "recording interface unit". Not any "PC Audio" (that includes SoundBlasters).
Beats Audio headphones do not get good reviews on recording forums.
I have a Lenovo T510 with Bluetooth. My Beats Headset is recognized and it states that it's connected. However, no sound coming through the headset. Under Sound in the Control Panel, this bluetooth headset is not listed. How can I add it to the Sound area? Thank you
product number is G6R97UA#ABA My computer does not play very low frequency sounds through the headphone jack. When using the same headphones or speakers on my phone I can hear lower frequencies. When I go to the Beats audio control panel and turn off beats audio, it just removes all bass whatsoever. It also has some kind of automatic volume thing that turns the volume back up on applications when i turn the volume down. These are interfering with my music production. Is there any way to turn this "feature" off and use the default windows sound equalization tools?http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Audio/Beats-audio-is-messing-up-sound/td-p/5608344
So I installed windows when it got released a few months back When I installed it my beats audio is completely is gone Like this laptop comes with it It had the symbol engraved on 10 And after windows install is is beats? bad sound Where it hence the reason this laptop was so expensive in the first place with the addition of beats audio I know Hp probably had to buy the rights or something Where is beats? And sound is bad after windows 10 install and hence increasing the price With that being said my beats audio is gone and my sound is bad too As in the volume is low yes I made sure it's not muted and checked my side bar you know the one next to the time on the screen and also the video or music player i am listening too and also audio manager but to no avail Also my audio changed too Before it was some different name I think but after the update it's IDT High Definition Audio CODEC I also updated my driver but again nothing worked nbsp Solved View Solution
Hi, Try the following. Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder. http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp63501-64000/sp63555.exe When done, hold down the Windows key and press R Into the Run window, type devmgmt.msc and hit enter. In Device Manager, expand Sound, Video and Game Controllers. Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall. When complete, download and reinstall the Chipset driver on the following link. http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp63001-63500/sp63408.exe When the Chipset reinstallation has completed, shutdown the notebook. Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu. Press f9 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f5, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter. Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter. When windows has reloaded, open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation. When this has completed, restart the notebook again and let windows fully load for a few minutes before checking. Ever since I upgraded my HP Envy Recline 23-m230, when I plug in my subwoofer, the sound goes out completely and I have to restart to get it to work again (without the subwoofer. When I hit Reset Default Settings in Beats I get the message IDTNGUI.exe has stopped working. I paid to have HP help with the problem with no resolution. It is very frustrating! Anyone? Since my upgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 (64-bit) I have absolutely no sound what so ever from my laptop. This is a recently purchased: HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-p245sa (ENERGY STAR) with built in beats audio speakers. The laptop does not recognise that there is a sound problem, my speaker shows as Realtek High Definition Audio. Shouldn't this be Beats Audio? I can access Beats Audio but on right clicking to show sound devices only Realtek appears and is the default speaker. My HP assistant doesn't recognise any issues either and I'm now worried I've lost Beats Audio. Windows 10 has been a real hinderance so far- No sound, no Netflix, No YouTube and no iTunes.
having the same issue here... I lost sound in windows 8.1 a few weeks ago and thought this might fix it. I get sound during start up...then nothing. Is it the same for you?http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Audio/No-Sound-or-Beats-Audio-after-Windows-10-update/td-p/5173820
I can't get any bass on my audio and my Beats control panel isn't working. I'm running Windows 8.1. Is it a driver issue?
Hi @henry8181 , Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read about your HP Notebook and having issues with the sound on Windows 8.1. The Microsoft Sound Troubleshooter will go through some settings and will fix it automatically. The first thing to try is this HP support document No Sound from Speakers. It has a number of good troubleshooting steps including using the built-in Windows troubleshooter.Another solution is to uninstall the driver manually then force Windows to reinstall it. Follow the steps below to do that. Open Device Manager and open Sound, video and game controller section.Right click on your audio driver and select Uninstall.Restart the computer. Windows will then force in the driver on startup. I would be happy to assist if needed as there are many models of HP I would need the model number. How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number? Please let me know. Thanks.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Audio/Poor-sound-quality-on-Beats-laptop/td-p/4634846
It started 2 months ago... If my laptop is making instant internet-activities (like multiplayer-games, YouTube, or downloads), the sound is crackling. And it's because of the Beats Audio driver.I found out, because, when i'm using microsoft standard sound-drivers or realtek drivers without HP Beats modification, the crackling disappears. Where can I get an older Beats Audio-driver for my laptop? Or how can I fix it but still use Beats Audio? Hi there @exrxfillr, May the Forums be with you! It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts, and other support personnel. I understand that your audio volume is fluctuating in playback. I am happy to help with this. It is possible that installing the audio drivers and/or Beats Audio again could help, but first you can try: 1) Right click on the volume icon Image in the System Tray2) Select "Playback devices"3) Double click on "Speakers"4) Click the Enhancements tab5) Check "Disable all sound effects"6) Click OK Test again and see if there is a change in the sound volume. Otherwise try using this: HP PCs - Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers (Windows 8), to reload the audio drivers and the Beats Audio software. Please let me know whether that works for you, and if it does resolve your issue, please mark this post as a solution. Kudos would also be appreciated.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Audio/beats-audio-volume-unstable-Will-re-installing-beats-fix-and/td-p/5693265

Hello people, I am currently having some audio problem wtith my Hp envy. Back in 2013 while testing some software programs, everything went well; I was playing on an emulator when all of the sudden the audio cut off and has remained like that since. The only things I try to do was to updated to windows 8.1 as it was originally running windows 8, but after a while decided to upgrade to windows 10, as well as downloading drivers in this site which has not worked still. The only way I'm able to hear audio is if I apply my bluetooth speakers but even that the audio cuts off and I dont know if it is the speakers or the laptop. Is there a step by step to follow up and activate the audio? Has anyone had the ame problem with this model of Hp paltop?

Hello All, I have owned a HP Pavilion DV6-6C57NR with Beats Audio for over a year. A Couple of weeks ago my computer crashed in a big way so I reinstalled Windows 7. I figured out all of my drivers and my Sound Works fine (Except that [Fn] + B Doesn't Turn on and off Beats). The only problem is that I no longer have access to the Enhancements Tab in Windows Sound I use the Volume Equalizer in loud rooms all the time. Any help to get it back would be appreciated. Sincerely,H
Hi, Whether or not you have the 'Enhancements' tab is down to the particular audio driver that's installed - some allow this feature and some do not. Try the following. Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder. http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55094.exe When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers. Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall. When complete, restart the notebook. Let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete. Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation. When this has completed, check if you have the Enhancements tab back. Note: If you want the fn+B combination to work correctly, you'll need to download and install HP Quick Launch from the link below. HP Quick Launch Buttons. When the installation has completed, restart the notebook before checking. Hi All, Facing the issue of sound with headphones on and still sound coming from speaker as well as headphones. Tried restarting to see if there is any update but in no luck. It would be great if any help received.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Audio/HP-ENvy-beats-sound-coming-from-headphones-and-speaker/td-p/5750808
HP ENVY TouchSmart -j nr Notebook PC ENERGY STAR Model E A UAWhen Windows was giving a free low not ... Poor working Envy sound, HP 21 quality, Audio Beats Windows upgrade from I upgraded Since then I have had very low sound from only the front speakers near my wrists and low quality like they are from a really old game boy Beats Audio does not work and there are no drivers for it I have scoured the internet for a solution HP Envy 21 Poor quality, low sound, Beats Audio not working ... to my problem but I have not found one I have checked every other week researching I've been in the properties and drivers I even did a Windows Update at the time of installation and have kept it current to see if there is a fix to no avail nbsp HP Doesn't find any updated drivers for my computer for audio Beats Audio has no software or drivers for my computer either Again I have not found the same problem with a solution None have worked so far Please helphttp://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Audio/HP-Envy-21-Poor-quality-low-sound-Beats-Audio-not-working/td-p/5853845
Alright so it's a well known annoyance that HP's built in Beats Audio Control Panel has automatic volume leveling but unlike other companies Acer Asus and all generic replacements under the sun They provide no way to disable it without removing the hp drivers and Sound REMOVE Shipped LEVEL... / HP Beats Audio VOLUME Drivers.. using the HP Beats Audio / Shipped Sound Drivers.. REMOVE VOLUME LEVEL... generic the problem with this is the generic ones do not offer the proper equalizer meant for the speakers on the computer and that they un-tie the Headphone jack and Internal speakers as a HP Beats Audio / Shipped Sound Drivers.. REMOVE VOLUME LEVEL... single output device meaning programs that do not support switching need to be restarted or programs that to support switching need to be switched over one-by-one this simply isn't satisfactory nbsp I'm looking for a way to disable auto volume leveling without having to resort to generic drivers it's a feature which has been requested by more than people at least on these forums and I would like to see it happen nbsp Solutions that include Uninstall beats and install this update from HP Realtek Generic Driver replacement or Disable beats inside the control panel Will not be accepted as they are not satisfactory either nbsp Every other company can include a toggle for volume leveling why can't HP I spent over on a laptop I believed was going to be at least the same sound quality as my previous laptop So far I'm left with a sour taste in my mouth nbsp For now I will stop recommending HP to friends family and businesses I am contracted with nbsp Get on it HP
and yes im aware of http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp72001-72500/sp72094.exe containing a "Loudness equalization" toggle and that does "Fix" the problem for now but it would be nice to still have a volume compression toggle button on the beats one so people dont have to resort to uninstalling drivers and removing software so it isnt automatically replaced and then installing this, not all your customers have any experience with driver installationhttp://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Audio/HP-Beats-Audio-Shipped-Sound-Drivers-REMOVE-VOLUME-LEVELING/td-p/5584895
I was wondering if someone could help out on an issue I have with playback via WMP .
My computer is an HP pavilion and has WMP and Beats Audio built in .
The beats audio looks like it is just a glorified equalizer to me but WMP does not work without it.
My problem is that I have WMP on shuffle and just listen to whatever track plays. Which works fine.
What occurs is the track will play loudly for a few seconds and then lower it's volume itself and continues to play but the volume seems to increase up and down as it plays not to deafening levels just slightly but it is noticeable when playng.
I have disabled volume leveling in the player and re set it but the issue still occurs .
Has anyone come across this issue ?
The sound on my brother's Pavillion p6627cb suddenly stopped. It is a pretty old desktop. He has no internet where he lives now. Could I buy a driver somewhere on a CD and install it? Is that a way to go?Other than checking the audio level which is at max, are there other tweeks we can try?http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Audio/no-sound-pavillion/td-p/5608633
I have a HP Pavillion dv6-2112sa laptop.
My issue is that when I plug in my headphones the sound to what I am watching or listening to still plays through the speakers at the same time, and as you can imagine the reason for me putting the headphones in is so the sound only plays through the headphones. I have been on the HP website and followed their suggestions but have had no success, including many tests and configurations on the control panels.
I hoped someone might have an idea?
My girlfriend "inherited" the above PC from her parents. It was running Windows Media Center, so I reformatted and installed Win XP Pro SP2. I installed all the drivers and Device Manager is happy. However, there is no sound whatsoever. The little speaker icon does not show up in the system tray. I downloaded the audio drivers from Realtek (High Def audio driver).
I checked that the cables were seated correctly to the mobo. I uninstalled the audio drivers from Device Manager, and on restart, they installed again. No joy. I went to HP's support website (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...114262&lang=en) and followed all the instructions there. Still no joy.
Could anyone please give me any advice on how to get sound on this bloody computer?
Thank you in advance.

Wiz, I have same laptop and no sound either. I picked up my laptop last week after severe illness and know that before it had sound - now nothing when playing DVD. Both the media player and QuickPlay is quiet.
I checked that it has a soundcard ( also worked before - about 1 year ago), all the buttons are bleu and shows working.
Saw something on another tread about a KOLT band has to be changed. Is that necessary?
Thanks in advance for an answer to this
I have moved your post to a thread of its own, this will avoid getting answers to two problems

hi, did you make sure you installed the high def sound device driver .http://www.realtek.com/products/productsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=8&PFid=14&Level=3&Conn=2actual driver here i think ,http://www.realtek.com/downloads/downloadsCheck.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=14&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=falsehttp://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/444133/no-sound-hp-pavillion-a1320n/
All of a sudden I have no sound. I have RealTek AC97 sound driver as a part of my motherboard. I do NOT have a sound card. I go to the RealTek website to download a new driver & RealTek says to update thru HP because it's in the motherboard. Maybe I'm not in the right place, but HP says to go to RealTek. So I'm no where fast!
I've plugged & unplugged the speakers. I borrowed a set of speakers & they don't work on my system either. So I know its not the speakers!
I checked to make sure that the sound is not muted. I also checked to make sure the sound is activated, which is is. Any other suggestions?
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwar...228&lang=en Here is the link to the HP website for the realtek drivers. I would check device manager first before you installed it though. Right click on my computer>properties. Select the Hardware tab and goto device manager. You should be able to find the audio drivers in the list. If the driver has an X on it, then just right click and enable it. If it has a yellow ? then go ahead and install the driver. Hope this helps.Good luck,Johnhttp://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/257141/sound-gone-windows-xp-sp3-hp-pavillion-a1330n/
I have an HP Pavillion DV8000 Lap Top using Windows XP Pro Service pack 3. The sound car or driver is Conexant AMC Audio.
While playing some music last night from Pandora Internet Radio, the sound sounded like a streaming issue. Now all of my sounds including notifications ie: mail receipt, errors etc...
I went back to HP and downloaded/installed the driver for this machine but it didn't help.
Does anyone have an ideas?
so you have some sound and it cuts in and out ? or now you have no sound ? please describe issue again ?
check Device Manager for yellow or red flags in the sound and audio section.
when you re-install drivers you should first uninstall old drivers.
have you installed software recently that uses audio (maybe something from Pandora). try uninstalling.
try external speakers to see if problem is with internal speakers.
alot of issues with laptops are overheating issues. are vents blocked with dust ?
hi all at bleepingcomputer,
So i just did a clean install of windows 7 64 bit on my hp pavillion dv8000 and i was hopping some one at this awsome site could find the drivers that would work for windows 7 64-bit because i have been searching all night and have come up with nothing.
Any help would be appreciated.
I checked HP's web site (I assume you have too), and they are showing none for Windows 7.
That laptop is going on 4 years old (release date), and they are not going to provide any. Have you tried the Vista 64-bit drivers?
Can anyone please help me with this problem...i cant get any sound on my laptop it comes and goes over the past 2 days .
All my drivers seem to be up to date...

All of your sounds what? If I'm reading that right, you may be missing a word in there somewhere?
Are you receiving no sound at all? Are they muffled?
What do you mean by a streaming issue? Did it start skipping in the middle of songs, or would it stop for a bit and restart?

Hi @bassman,Welcome to the HP Support Forums! From your description your issue is related to linking connecting to the Soundblaster audio card you installed using a USB interface to your TASCAM device. I am happy to help you with this. In answer to your question, I would advise you try the support forums both for your new Soundblaster card and probably your TASCAM device as well to see if there is some specific configuration required to link the two. TASCAM Support - tascam.com/supportCREATIVE Worldwide Support - support.creative.com I hope that helps, and if it does resolve your issue, please mark this post as a solution. I just upgraded to Window 7 Home Premium . HP now does not support any sound card option/drivers. I can't get any drivers to install/work? Any suggestions? Thanks
I'm in the same boat. Why would the sound card work flawlessly in windows7 release candidate and not work in windows 7 ultimate?http://www.sevenforums.com/sound-audio/51306-hp-pavillion-dv8000-sound-card.html

It almost sounds as though Windows no longer detects a sound card....
Check your BIOS. Is there any setting Enable / Disable Onboard Audio?
Report on any BIOS settings, then Generate a Problem Device report
Make sure all your devices are connected and powered on
Click Start->Run, enter: msinfo32. Click the + sign next to Components to expand it
Click Problem Devices. Anything appear?
If yes, click on it, Ctrl-A to select all, Ctrl-C to copy it, Ctrl-V to paste into next post
Generate and attach a DirectX report
click Start->Run, enter dxdiag
Notice progress in lower left window corner
When done, click Save Information button and save to your Desktop
In TechSpot, use the paper clip icon to attach the report. (If you don't see icon you may need to first click Go Advanced)
I was using it earlier with no problem. I shut it down the usual way and everything was fine until I try to turn it back on.
Try a hard reset.Remove the battery and AC adapter, hold the power button down for 30 seconds, connect AC only and see if it will power up.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Software-and-How-To-Questions/Pavillion-dv7-won-t-turn-on-no-lights-no-sound/td-p/691437
Reformat hard drive. No sound. No longer have my system cd. I followed the other thread in here (howard_hopkinso) for the download on the intel page. This didn't fix my problem. Yellow icon next to Sigma-Tel C audio. I assume the download is not for my computer. Control panel > sound and audio devices. The contents of the volume and audio tab are grayed out. All Programs > Accessories > Entertainment > Volume properties returns an error message. "There are no active mixer devices available. Click add hardware to install one". Called HP, they charge $67 for replacement CD. Anybody got a clue as to what is going on or how to install a mixer device?. 542x Pavillion, XP.
You're going to need to obtain the appropriate driver for your audio card. You can try Windows Update(microsoft.com), but if it's not there then it looks like you'll have to buy that HP CD or see if a friend has it. I couldn't find it on a quick google search.
The volume icon on the taskbar reads "No Audio Output Device is Installed". No sound whatsoever not even out of the headphone jack. HP does not make a driver update. They told me my computer is too slow to run Windows 7. Funny, because I'm running 7 as I type this! Works great, other than this issue.
If there isn't a driver, I can of course get a USB or Expresscard soundcard, right? Thanks!
In fact, your "X-Fi Expresscard 34" sound card is the Sound Blaster X-Fi Notebook sound card.
The drivers are here :
Creative Worldwide Support > Sound Blaster X-Fi Notebook
They should be compatible with Win7 since it was last updated on June 29 2009.
Try it out! If you need more help, post here
