I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a HP pavillion Notebook (DV9700 with Vista) that is suppose to have a built in camera. However I can not access this camera. Is there someway or something I have to do before trying to access the camera?
Hi I want to instal one SSD disk on my computer. Do anyone now if it is Sata 3 port on this computer ? If it isn`t can I install Sata 3 port or do I have to chang motheboard ! Regards KOB32
Hi: Run this free hardware analyzer that I have zipped up and attached below. Run the file, close the summary window and on the left side of the window, click to expand the Drives section. Then click to expand the sata/atapi drives section. Click on your hard drive name listed there. The first line will be the Drive Controller spec. It will report the hard drive type running at a certain speed. For example Serial ATA 6 Gb/s @ 6 Gb/s. If your notebook only has a SATA II port, it might report Serial ATA 6 Gb/s @ 3 Gb/s, or Serial ATA 3 Gb/s @ 3 Gb/s.

[/B]I have had the notebook for five years; yesterday the following message:
NTLDR is missing
Press ctrl + alt + del to restart
When the user does the instruction, the boot starts and the message repeats.
I really do not want to do a reinstall of the operating system; if someone has away to reinstall just the boot tracks.
 Is this a virues?
Is this the work of a hacker?
Has there been an MS-XP failure?

I am considering buying this laptop at "Office Depot" today. In your expert opinion, guys, is this a good laptop for basic needs? I just need it for a small business situation. Hello,I was recently given a pavillion dv9821ea laptop which was in bad shape after being infected with a virus. I eventually had to replace the hard drive and at the same time I upgraded the operating system to windows 7 PRO 64bit. I was unable to save nothing from the origonal hard drive, no drivers, HP software etc and since I installed Windows 7, the laptop seems to have several problems including not downloading Windows updates. I connect it to the HP assistant, but this recognises the laptop and only gives me the choice of Windows Vista as the operating system for which to support drivers etc. I wonder if you could help me by letting me know if there is anywhere I can download Windows 7 pro 64bit drivers for this laptop? my wife and I are both disabled and it would make a great difference to me if I could have full use of this laptop. Regards. Gerald
Hi, Gerald: HP did not support that model for W7, and you should be able to use the Vista drivers from the dv9821ea support page except the BIOS and firmware files. Additionally, you can read this helpful dv9000 W7 upgrade guide for some tips on getting W7 to work just fine on that model. http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-System-and-Recovery/Windows-7-Upgrade-Guide-for-dv60...http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Drivers-for-Pavillion-dv9821ea-entertainment-notebook/td-p/5594190

HP Support Assistant reports that there is a software update available to download. Click yellow triangle, get to products, shows a software download available, but does not specify what the download is.
Click on Message / update. Four segment square icon starts rotating through the segments. Runs and runs and runs, now more than 2 hours. Nothing downloads.
This is the third time today I've tried to download the supposed software update. Same result each time. Nothing downloads.
Same result each time.

Sounds like it might be time for a reinstall to refresh the OS and overcome any lingering infection. Follow these same steps for Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 particularly when it comes to drivers and Updates.
Otherwise work through these Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7 including the hardware tests.

hp pavillion laptop 15-p067ca model, purchased year ago, came with windows 8.1, was not updated to windows 10. seems to have a bug: on start up it welcomes me as a user "vladimir" asks for password and then hangs up forever with the white screen and unresponsive. Password I'm sure is right, because if I type different password, machine comes back with "Incorrect password" message. What do you think is a problem and how to go back to factory settings? Hello katrapezo. I understand you're having some trouble recording audio. Have you tried recording in another application such as Sound Recorder? I'd also like you to remove your audio drivers and allow Windows to reinstall them. Here are the steps.Click Start, type "Device Manager," and press Enter.Expand the "Sound, video, and game controllers" section.Right click on your sound card and select "Uninstall."Reboot your computer.Verify whether the problem persists. Also, what is your notebook's product number? This document can show you where it is located.Have a wonderful day.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Audio/HP-Pavillion-dv6-notebook-audio-recording-issue-windows-7/td-p/2737617

Extremely frustrated I've looked and tried to find a solution to no avail When the notebook boots up it gets to the login screen I wouldn't be able to do anything at that point but I can log in because I have a fingerprint scanner from there I'm dead in the water The only way to shut down is to hold down the power button While the computer is in bootup I have touchpad keyboard function I can escape to boot options BIOS repair etc and have normal functionality while there but not in safe mode I have ran SFC with commands several times chkdsk with commands several times nothing changes SFC says it found problems but was not able to fix all of them and keyboard Notebook and on Pavillion HP touchpad 3225dx dv6 Frozen the last chkdsk found nothing wrong Here are the events leading up to had disk errors and bad sectors in old hard drive could not repair cloned old hard drive to new hard drive there were errors but the new hard drive booted and worked for the most part correctly in the process of trying to fix missing setup files for applications and other miscellaneous small issues I ran troubleshooting updates chkdsk sfc etc removed various applications and added a few nothing worked I installed Revo uninstaller to remove Kaspersky Internet Security as it is THE MOST stubborn application to remove I've ever experienced The reason I mention that is because I went through my computer trying to find the leftover files even after Revo because Kaspersky was still running after re-installing it and uninstalling it again There were some files in System that had kaspersky attached to it's description I stopped them from running and deleted them They were close to the kb files and after researching which files Frozen touchpad and keyboard on HP Pavillion dv6 3225dx Notebook to remove I remember in the end of the post it said it wouldn't delete Frozen touchpad and keyboard on HP Pavillion dv6 3225dx Notebook a certain file beacause you wouldn't have keyboard functionality I made sure I didn't but I can't help Frozen touchpad and keyboard on HP Pavillion dv6 3225dx Notebook to think now that out of the files I deleted some of them kernel I may have deleted the mouse and keyboard files in error I tried a System Restore of the most recent point prior to the issue and it did not work I think now that I should have tried it again at an earlier point but didn't and I did that from the repair module obviously since I couldn't do it anywhere else I have tried since to do another but the restore points have disappeared The last time I had a working touchpad keyboard in Windows I ran sfc scannow offbootdir d offwindir d windows at boot in the command prompt I got the same message that it found errors but did not fix them all Then I ran chkdsk f r from boot at the command prompt When I returned to my computer after a couple hours I rebooted and no longer had a touchpad or keyboard I am up in arms and extremely frustratd as I feel I have tried absolutely everything to get them to work again I hope that the only option I have left is to format and clean install I do not have a full back up and can't get one fully executed at this point Please help Thanks in advance to any suggestion and assistance that you may be able to provide it's much appreciated The following link is to the support page of my Notebook http h www hp com ewfrf wc product product amp lc en amp cc us amp dlc en amp lang en amp tmp track link
If you have (and should have) a USB keyboard and mouse connect them and see if they will work.
Since your file system was already corrupted you cloned the bad files to the new drive.
If the USB devices work you should do a Repair Install.
If that doesn't work do this: Using System Recovery, Factory Reset and Minimized Image Recovery Options HP Pavilion dv6-3225dx Entertainment Notebook PC | HP? Support
From this tut:
Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7
On newer models HP Recovery may offer a Minimized OS Recovery option when booting from F11, which retains only the OS, Recovery Manager, HP Support Asst, and HP Wireless LAN. This is as close to a clean reinstall as you can get without doing one yourself.
● If you clean reinstall only to C and leave all other partitions intact, F11 Recovery key should still work later if you need it.
● You can also Extract HP 3rd Party Software from RecovCD.
● Problems with volume control lighting and HP Quick Launch buttons have been dealt with here where you can also get further support.

Several weeks ago I bought the new HP Pavillion dv9574ea notebook and the HEADPHONE SOCKETS do not work - there are two. Only the speakers work. Even when I put a working set of headphones which are the right size, I cannot hear anything through the hearphones. The normal loud speakers however keep working, although they should switch off when the headphones are plugged in.
Please see the screenshot of the drivers active (in system 32 folder) and other details about the headphone socket.
Thank you for any help.
I believe the motherboard on my husbands PC died today. Its an older PC...a HP Pavillion 764n.
However over the years we have upgraded it with a new video card, more memory and a 450 watt PSU.
I dont necessarily want to get the same motherboard if I dont have to. Is there a motherboard that I can get for this other than the same type that was in it?
Thanks for your help.

Basically no. While you can replace the board, you will also most likely need a new case AND a new copy of windows. The oem version of windows lives and dies with the original hardware ie mb. By the time you buy a new board, case, and copy of windows, you can just about buy a new system.
One of the many reasons I always recommend building your own system.
hp pavillion notebook with 8.1 shows a blue screen with and will continually show different error code. cant even do a system restore because it will restart in the middle of it

I bought my HP Pavilion Notebook P210TX on April 2015 and last week 29th July 2016 when I hibernated my PC and kept it at night ,it wont power up again in the morning, initially I thought that it was due to battery drain but even the adapter power light wont lit so I had to take it to HP service centre where they said my Laptops power IC is faulty .Is this the quality of product HP selling to its customer or its a strategy that as soon as the warranty of the product goes off things start getting faulty. This is a very bad experience for me and has put me in a situation where I doubt I will buy HP product in future or suggest anyone the samehttp://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/P210TX/td-p/5711054
I have this model. I no longer can boot this laptop. I have one blink in the caps lock and the laptop won't boot. I looked at the troubleshooting codes and the one blink indicates a CPU issue and I should contact HP. In my case, my 6 cell battery began having issues shortly after my warranty expired. I had a bios boot message saying the battery wasn't at peak performance or something like that. I was choked but I let things be since I rarely have my laptop not connected to an AC outlet. It seems my laptop was a lemon from the get go. I imagine I am probably not the only person with these issues. I am wondering if there might be a recall or a good will replacement program to replace my laptop's mobo?http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/HP-Pavillion-g6-1d44ca-Is-there-a-CPU-or-motherboard-recall/td-p/5816392
Have been trying to find drivers for this MB nothing shows up on HP site, the MB is and Asus K7M slot1, AMD-751 northbridge, Via VT82C686A southbridge, K7M doesnt even show up on Asus site either, I have the manual, it looks like a normal MB so whats the deal with no drivers?
I am looking a Motherboard replacement for HP Pavillion XT963 Motherboard. A MB that will fit into the case and able to install in it an Intel pentium 4 processor w/3.0ghz. Which one is compatible. Does anyone knows??
Only an HP replacement will be truely compatible, anything else will turn it into a non-HP machine, void any HP support, and render your Revovery CD/DVD's useless.
That said you could ntry Ebay for a MicroATX board that supports you procesor and memory. You won't find anything new at a retail store for what is a fairly obsolete. In my opinion its not worth resurecting a socket 370 Celeron based HP system.
Yo guys. Have an HP Pavillion a520n with the A7N8X-LA (ASUS) motherboard that is dead. Went through the HP website troubleshooter http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...788&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=404643&lang=en, and confirmed this. I want to replace this board with the same but not having much luck finding one, not even on HP's site. Any idea's? Is there a similar board I can install that will fit? Thanks in advance.

Yes it will work fine. The mounting holes are in the same place. You might wind up with an empty port or have to use a dremel tool to open up a small hole in the side but the board will work fine.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Pavillion-DV9500-motherboard-change-compatibility/td-p/2855821

Does your mobo have UEFI? If so what are the settings choices for UEFI, EFI, CSM, Legacy BIOS, Secure Boot, etc? Is there a more recent UEFI (BIOS) firmware update?
Try disabling Secure Boot, Legacy BIOS, CSM then installing using Rufus formatted stick for UEFI to GPT disk. UEFI Bootable USB Flash Drive - Create in Windows
Boot the stick as UEFI device only. Delete all partitions to clear any MBR formatting. UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) - Install Windows 7 with - Windows 7 Forums

Hi, When I am trying to launch any application from Oracle VM Virtualbox, I am seeing error "VT-x or AMD-v is not available". When I tried to search for this error, I found out that this occurs if virtualization is not enabled or not supported. Since this is no so old product, I believe this has support for virtualization but may be disabled. How to enable this ? How do I access the BIOS settings ? While powering on this laptop, I don't find any way by which I can enter the BIOS settings.. Please guide.
Yash. Power-on laptop and start tapping on ESC or F10. You could also post the model number of your CPU. REOhttp://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Boot-and-Lockup/Enabling-Virtualization-on-HP-Pavilion-15-P210TX/td-p/5656220
Hi, I have observed that the laptop does not shut down completely even after shutting it down. I see a flickering light besides the charging port. The power off and power on is happening normally, but after power off, I can see the battery being drained as well as flickering lights. I checked all the power options / actions and they are appropriately set. What else can cause this? How do I ensure that the laptop is shut down completely.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/HP-Pavilion-P210TX-Battery-is-draining-even-after-the-laptop/td-p/5656208
So this Notebook has NVIDIA GeForce 830M (2 GB DDR3 dedicated) and i was wondering if I can upgrade the Graphic card to something else which is higer than this.. Is it possible? If yes can someone suggest which Graphic card should i upgrade it to..
Hi: There is no removable/replaceable graphics 'card' in your notebook like what can be done in a desktop PC. The only way to upgrade the graphics would be to replace the entire motherboard with one listed in the service manual for your specific model PC that may have better graphics. This would be a costly and labor intensive project.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/HP-Pavilion-15-p210TX-Graphic-Card-Upgrade/td-p/5768127
I recently upgraded my home pc and am now wondering if I can replace the motherboard in a compaq notebook. does this involve soldering things in, or does it plug in like the towers?
here's what it does(compaq presario 1200, AMD K6-2 450 Mhz): I turn it on and the fan switches on, and the lights come on, but that is it. I hear no booting up noises, and nothing comes on the screen. when I put a cd in the drive, I hear it spin and read, but that is it. I tried using a startup disk, and tried replacing a small battery on the inside that I think is for BIOS. is it a motherboard problem, or processor, or other?
thanks for yourhelp
NB motherboards are proprietary to the case they are built for. You will never find a motherboard to fit the case unles you have a couple hundred thousand dollard to hire a design team to make a motherboard upgrade for your notebook. You would more than likely be able to upgrade the processor and memory and that's about it.
Hi everybody, I have another question. Checking the system with the software Piriform Speccy I found out something weird about the motherboard: the model is labelled as INVALID (U3E1).Installing Speccy in order to do this check is the only and very first thing I done since I first opened this notebook, since I found something about this matter earlier in the internet, and I did not found an official answer yet. I specify that I found out the same problem with a first notebook Lenovo M30-70 two week ago, and I returned it. So, what is that mean? Thanks for your helpKind regards Riccardo
Welcome to the Lenovo Community !
Well someone may come along with a different opinion, but the way I see it, it appears to me that Speccy is having is either having difficulty reading the information about the motherboard or doesn't know how to interpret the information it is receiving and thus provides a generic response. Does that mean there is a problem with the computer? No. Through the years I have found that third party utilities that audit the system hardware aren't always 100% accurate and may provide mis-information. If the computer is performing like is should then I wouldn't be too concerned. Did you by chance pose your question over in the Piriform forums since they are the makers of Speccy?
I am trying to remove and install a new motherboard in a Compaq Presario 1210us notebook. Compaq has not been helpful in obtaining information to perform this task. Is there anywhere I can find documentation to help me remove the m/b. I have taken everything apart up to the m/b itself.
i was never able to find a tech sheet on how to take a mobo out of laptops i have just done most of it on a wing and a prayer. Wish i could help more. i have taken them out of the compaq's and the was not much to it just a half dozen screws.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forum.
I have a notebook computer that needs a new bios. Notebook model number is D620S.
I have a friend of mine who is a tech and he is working on it for me but all he seems to come up with is the company name Seanix and the numbers 71-D6100-D02 (I don't know what these numbers are)
I looked up 71-D6100-D02 on the google and found absolutely NOTHING. Seanix won't give us any information at all. Does anyone know what bios this notebook takes, or how to figure it out?
Does anybody out there know where I might obtain a replacement motherboard for a c855-2e5 notebook? Keyboard cable connector is broken but it still works and the SD card reader chip is actually broken off. The only way to repair it is to change the motherboard.

@spin61?, welcome to the forum. Because of the age of the computer, I believe that you may have a failed power supply unit (PSU). Here is a guide to help you troubleshoot it. Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Boot-and-Lockup/HP-Pavillion-problem/td-p/5693368
Right my auntie has a HP PAVILLION 1450 and she has previosuly had teh ssue that the light on the back ( on the psu ) flashes, after opening the case and removing the cables and replacing them it has worked, shes had to do that twice now. But it was only happening when it had been without power ( unplugged) Today she came to use it, after it had not had the power turned off and it wont fire, have tried removing the cables ad its not having it, i think taht its complely knackered now. any ideas if it is, shoudl i just replace it?
Just replace it.
A friend of mine has a HP pavillion with an unusual problem.
I hit the power button and I get the light blue screen with the info on how to get to bios and boot order.
That stays on for less than a second and the screen goes blank and shows that there is no signal.
I dont think it would be a power supply.
When it says no signal, I can hit F10 and get into bios which looks fine.
Any suggestions on what could be wrong?
Thanks for ang suggestions.
I have a HP Pavillion dv6-2112sa laptop.
My issue is that when I plug in my headphones the sound to what I am watching or listening to still plays through the speakers at the same time, and as you can imagine the reason for me putting the headphones in is so the sound only plays through the headphones. I have been on the HP website and followed their suggestions but have had no success, including many tests and configurations on the control panels.
I hoped someone might have an idea?
I bought my 6190eu just under a year ago and the warranty's end is creeping up. My problem is that my ac adaptor is very sensitive and ony starts to charge my laptop when it is place in a certain way. I have read some other forums and some say that there are problems internally, however they do not say that the power adaptor is sensitive. Is there a problem internally or should i get a new power adaptor?
Yeah, well I would ask them to send you a new power charger.

Hello there. Have you read this?
hey this is my first post, I thought someone could help me.
I have an HP Pavillion 752n with a 2.0 P4
I went to sleep the other night after watching a movie on my computer, turned off the monitor like normal, but when i woke up the mouse (no red light for the optical) and monitor were dead and my computers suspend light was on (brown instead of normal green). I reset my computer and it started up normally for the first 30 seconds and then everythieng went dead. i tried it again and it lasted 10 seconds.
I opened up the case to see what was going on internally and when i powered on the CPU fan turns off after a few seconds and everything goes dead exept for the pci cards (my video card fan still runs) and the brown light on the front where it should be green. someone please help!! thanks
Hi, I have a problem with the boot up on my hp pavillion t760. I hope you can help.
This is what happens.
I press the power button on the front and the light comes on the screen then powers up with the blue "hp invent" background and the 3 options at the bottom, <Esc=Boot Menu><F1=Setup><F10=System Recovery>. The light on the pc then goes off, then flashes once then goes out. and the screen stays the same. Before this problem it used to do the same but when the light flashed once the screen went black and windows started.
I have tried to press Esc when loading to get the boot menu up so i can see if its booting up in the right sequence but nothing happens.
Can you help please
What about the F1 and F10 functions? Do they work?
Those are all Bios related functions that are offered before the handoff to the operating system, and if you cannot get them to work it may be a low CMOS battery problem. You could try replacing that.
I read the posting CM Lanman, explaining basicially the very same problem I'm experiencing with HP Pavillion zt3000 laptop. When I boot the computer up, all I get is a black screen, any help out there.
Can you boot all the way into Normal Mode at all (if there's a problem you may have to wait like ten mins) ?
Can you boot into Safe Mode successfully ?
the starter wire came off of the mother board and i am not sure how it plugs back in no matter wich way i put it it wont start
They usually work face up, are you sure you are plugging into the right jumper? Most boards have it listed in real small print next to the jumpers.
I have an intermittent failure to book. When this happens, the computer beeps constantly but does not turn on. If I turn off the back-up power and wait a few seconds, the computer boots OK when I turn it on. What is going on? Is this a serious problem? If so, how do I fix it?
I am using an HP Pavillion 8755c with Pentium III and 384 MB RAM. My OS is Windows XP Home Edition.

Hi and welcome to the forum. We are sorry that no one has responded sooner, just about every forum is super busy.First, not sure if we really understand, what you are having problems with. Please take your time when posting a question......The better the question, the better the answer.Your HJT log: Do you know what this entry/program is: ? Right I'll cut to the chase. My brother, in all his wisdom, has superglued the power lead to the socket to stop it from 'jiggling' about. As I gather, all HP Pavillions have a power jack/dock problem, and supergluing it back hasn't solved the problem.
So my question to you is: is there a way to get rid of the super-glue and to remover the lead from the socket, without harming it further?
I have just read HP's warranty, and they do not cover/repair any damages 'self inflicted'. If there's a way to get rid of the glue then I can buy new parts and take it to a friends so he can rebuild it.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Afternoon all, My HP printer is connected to a HP pc running Windows 7. I have a phone list created via Microsoft Works Spreadsheet. The amount of ph numbers will fit perfectly on an A4 sheet in Landscape fashion. The document, when created yesterday, was saved in my documents folder. In HP Printer Assistant, I open Set Preferences and change the orientation from Portrait to Landscape. With the page I want to print open and holding down the Ctrl + P to access the print page, I go to Properties and change from Portrait to Landscape and click ok to print the document. The problem is this, the document prints 2 pages in Landscape fashion even after changing the settings in both the printer and in Print Properties. Thanks in advance of any suggestions.http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/forum/helproom-1/hp-pavillion-2050-printer-problem-4606248/
Hello this my first time on seven HP multi-boot Pavillion problem fourms and the reason why I signed up is because I have windows home premium x bit which has a problem HP Pavillion multi-boot problem I installed windows xp professional x bit and when I rebooted I got a black screen with a blinking cursor in the upper left hand corner I read online that its better than a plain black screen but I did not find any answers Later I installed linux zorin x bit and I could see that my files are still there but I can't use windows I realized the reason it takes forever to boot is because there is a boot menu but I can't see it because my monitor says quot input signal out of range change settings to x Hz quot I noticed I can select operating systems but windows isn't one of them Today I just installed ubuntu x bit and the boot menu still didn't come up I need help to get windows back Please help immediatly
Hi MexicanPygmy, Welcome to SF
Sounds like you have a problem with the mbr when installing multiple OS
You could try running startup repair of your install disk to repair(you may need to run this up to three times) or you can try other fixes, have a look at this MBR - Restore Windows 7 Master Boot Record
If your not sure of anything dont rush in post back and we can help
Standby does not work since I installed the latest XP SP3.
When the 1230 goes into standby, the screen goes blank and the keyboard is locked. It will not quickly resume with an active screen regardless of which key is depressed. In order to recover, the power must be turned off, and then back on in order to continue. In effect, standby works like hibernate, even though hibernate is not enabled. Any ideas about the cause of this type of problem?
Does the BIOS have to be updated??
You could try removing SP3 and see if the computer returns to normal
I have a HP Pavillion DV1000. Since last 2 days, it is giving me starting problem. When it does not start, then i remove the battery out and then put it again, repeat this process several times and sometimes that works.
I have 2 batteries, sometimes i keep changing on batteries and that also works. My both batteries are working fine, the only issue is laptop does not start by pressing the 'on' button the first time.
Once the laptop starts, then it will not shut down till i give shut down command.
What can be the problem?
how does it behave if you start with power supply only - no battery?
I've had this crappy piece of a HP branded PC for just a year now My first BSOD problem. Hp a1730n Pavillion and possibly last branded PC The system came with vista but I decided to look for XP drivers and Hp Pavillion a1730n BSOD problem. installed XP on it instead along with ubuntu The BSOD usually happens when I seem to have a lot of Hp Pavillion a1730n BSOD problem. programs running and then a sudden change or a very resource taking action is taken the BSOD occurs Somethings it lists what the problem is and other times it just says there's a serious problem I had the memory dump turned off for the most part but I've just turned it on so I'll be posting error dumps soon Specs AMD x Dual-core bit ghz Nvidia nForce Geforce LE I'm using a Geforce FX currently due to the integrated one being laggy with games WD JS- PDB GB RPM MB DDR RAMx MB Watt PSU brand unknown Operating System Windows XP Pro SP Ubuntu never seem to have errored freezed in anyway I've been reading up on other owners of this a n's problems but to no avail I haven't really tried fixing this problem as it does not occur as frequent as other users If it helps this computer is refurbished It also came with a AMD x instead of a AMD x which was what was advertised I installed the latest nForce chipset driver on Nvidia's website for XP The AMD drivers from AMD's website and the modem driver from HP Lastly the audio driver is Realtek High-Definition Audio I've had incidents of sound driver causing bsods on my very ancient P but I don't think it is the case here Thanks for all your help
Hi frosty5689, and welcome to TSF.
Yes, the system is basic. I am not a hardware tech but........300w PSU???? For that graphics card? Perhaps not.
I will do a little more research and get back to you.
hi all at bleepingcomputer,
So i just did a clean install of windows 7 64 bit on my hp pavillion dv8000 and i was hopping some one at this awsome site could find the drivers that would work for windows 7 64-bit because i have been searching all night and have come up with nothing.
Any help would be appreciated.
I checked HP's web site (I assume you have too), and they are showing none for Windows 7.
That laptop is going on 4 years old (release date), and they are not going to provide any. Have you tried the Vista 64-bit drivers?
Reformat hard drive. No sound. No longer have my system cd. I followed the other thread in here (howard_hopkinso) for the download on the intel page. This didn't fix my problem. Yellow icon next to Sigma-Tel C audio. I assume the download is not for my computer. Control panel > sound and audio devices. The contents of the volume and audio tab are grayed out. All Programs > Accessories > Entertainment > Volume properties returns an error message. "There are no active mixer devices available. Click add hardware to install one". Called HP, they charge $67 for replacement CD. Anybody got a clue as to what is going on or how to install a mixer device?. 542x Pavillion, XP.
You're going to need to obtain the appropriate driver for your audio card. You can try Windows Update(microsoft.com), but if it's not there then it looks like you'll have to buy that HP CD or see if a friend has it. I couldn't find it on a quick google search.
I have an HP Pavillion DV8000 Lap Top using Windows XP Pro Service pack 3. The sound car or driver is Conexant AMC Audio.
While playing some music last night from Pandora Internet Radio, the sound sounded like a streaming issue. Now all of my sounds including notifications ie: mail receipt, errors etc...
I went back to HP and downloaded/installed the driver for this machine but it didn't help.
Does anyone have an ideas?
so you have some sound and it cuts in and out ? or now you have no sound ? please describe issue again ?
check Device Manager for yellow or red flags in the sound and audio section.
when you re-install drivers you should first uninstall old drivers.
have you installed software recently that uses audio (maybe something from Pandora). try uninstalling.
try external speakers to see if problem is with internal speakers.
alot of issues with laptops are overheating issues. are vents blocked with dust ?
Device manager sees the pcmcia port and says its ok. when i slide a wireless card in, (or any card) it doesnt see the card, yet it says the port is ok?
Try uninstalling the port in device manager then reinstall it. If that doesn't work then the pcmcia contriller could be bad, I had one go on my old dell Latitide.
I'm trying to help out some friends who bought an HP laptop. Unfortunately that was their first wrong choice... it turns out they have the lowest customer satisfaction rating out of all laptop manufacturers!
Anyway, almost every time I start up, the laptop starts up, I can login, then something like this shows up on my screen. The computer freezes and I have to hit the power button to shut it down.
Nothing looks out of the ordinary in the event log, and the HP Driver Utility says all the drivers are updated. I think this is a sign the video card is bad. Can anyone second that, or is it a different problem entirely?
Thanks for your help!
If it's under warranty, or whatever you call it where you are, don't touch it, take it back to the shop.
If it's not under warranty, has it had any upgrades recently, any changes?
Hello everybodytoday I have bought a HP Pavillion X360-13u004nl (EMEA), all works fine except for the keyboard: the "<>" key doesn't work. when i came back to the store the assistent told me that the same problem was present in the other notebook like mine. i have tried to update chipset driver (following the instruction in the hp support website) but it was useless. i have tried also to remove the driver from the device menager in the windows controll panel as reported in the hp support but it was useless. does anybody have the same problem? or does anyone know how to manage this problem? thank youhttp://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/hp-pavillion-x360-13u004nl-keyboard-problem/td-p/5806894

Hi, and welcome. What graphic card are you using? Have you checked for windows 7 updates yet?http://www.sevenforums.com/graphic-cards/4698-hp-pavillion-dv6000-screen-resolution-problem.html
Up till a few hours ago I have had no problems with my integrated microphone and today I can't seem to figure out why it is not working. I have tried various things such as making sure it is the default device etc.
So I come here for your help. This is currently what it looks like when I am in the sound window.
The green bar to the right doesn't detect any noise or voices.
Can someone help me go through all the things I should check?
As this has worked OK and now does not, a System Restore may fix it. Restore the PC back to an available restore date when it did work.http://www.sevenforums.com/sound-audio/280219-hp-pavillion-dv6-integrated-microphone-array-problem.html
