Q: Replacement Battery Compatibility

My battery has died. The existing battery is hp 593553-001 4300mAh but the only one I can find online in Australia is 5200mAh. Is the 5200mAh battery able to be used in my system or will I need to source from another country? Cannot find the 4300mAh online in Australia.THanks

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, Given they have SAME voltage, 5200mAh is much better than 4300mAh. Amazon in the US sells the same: https://www.amazon.com/593553-001-Replacement-Notebook-Battery-5200mAh/dp/B004MR6IO4 Regards.

My Dell has been acting up pretty recently (6 months old and still under warranty), and the battery does not charge past 80%. Once it get's near the 80% charge, it immediately fills up to 100%.

I've remembered using the laptop for more than 6 hours under moderate use but now it barely lasts 2 hours.

Please give me some advice because I'm really dependent on this laptop.

Hi, am prepared to be labelled "thick as mince" however I wonder if anyone can advise how to proceed with the following: Replaced cracked laptop screen on a TM99, on first start up after replacement, the screen worked.....woohoo!, however.....on next startup, there was nothing, no lights, no start up screen...nada. Replaced new with original screen, which although cracked had worked, and it too now failed. Any ideas? The cable for the screen was seated properly and securely, nothing else was moved so am struggling to establish a reason for this non conformance. Could it possibly be a jammed "lid closed" switch? If this is potentially the culprit, anyone know whereabouts it is? Thanks

Hi guys,

I am replacing the stock fan/heatsink on my HIS Radeon HD 6790 with the Arctic Accellero R2 Plus. This fan has a 3 pin and 4 pin option for the fan. The stock fan is only 2 pin...black and red. The aftermarket fan's wiring is black, red and yellow, and black (ground), red (VDC), yellow (signal) and blue (PWM).

My question is can I just splice the original connector with just red and black into the aftermarket wiring? The fan came with a molex adapter but I'd rather the video card be able to regulate the fan rather than it just be going full out all the time. Is the factory red and black also considered VDC and ground?

Thanks in advance!

Hey!! So basically I need a new one and I have decided over what to buy and did some research but I want to check in with you guys just to be sure that the gpu and psu are compatible. This is what I want: GTX 760 2gb Physx CUDA; and my current psu is: Silver Power SP-S650. I've been having an issue which started this morning. The previous night, I forgot to plug in my Dell Inspiron N5050 after using it. I woke up to find that my battery had died (obviously). I plugged in the laptop, running Windows 7 HE 64 bit, and turned it on. It booted normally and I was able to do all of my tasks as needed. Then I noticed my problem. The battery icon down on the taskbar showed that the device was plugged in, but was not charging. It has stayed at a constant 2% charge for more than 24 hours now. The Battery Meter stated that my battery is performing normally, so I ruled the battery out as the cause. The adapter I am using is the default one that came with the laptop when I bought it, and it appears to be functioning normally as well. What could be the cause of this incident, and what can I do to fix it?

A:Battery Stated as "Plugged in, Not Charging"

Most likely you have a bad battery. Dell has had whole series of batteries that they shipped out in a not fully functional state. I have an HP laptop (about 8 years old now) that the battery took a "steamy one" and it will no longer charge properly. You can try this trick (it may not work, but worth a try because did work for me a couple times): power down laptop and take the battery out for 30 minutes; replace battery and plug in charger but do not power on; wait 4 hours of charge and power on. I had it work a couple times that it gave a full 100% charge. Again, if it doesn't work then sorry, but at least you tried.

My gaming computer turned in February and now that it s no longer under warranty things are going wrong This week in the middle of a project the machine rebooted on its own It restarted but shortly after did replacement PSU question it again and again I still have free tech support and two tech s offered help on what could be causing it First I replaced the cooling system thinking the PSU replacement question one installed failed and the cpu was overheating doing it It still rebooted I purchased software called Hardware Monitor to see if the power supply voltage was bad but it seemed ok then I swapped out the memory in case there was a bad stick It still rebooted My support tech feels it still could be the power supply and suggested I replace it I was told that I would need to buy the exact model and that buying any other would require a complete rebuild of my PC Since the computer is years old the power supply isn t sold anymore I was wondering if it s true that my computer would need to be completely rebuilt if I bought a PSU that wasn t the same The power supply is a Enermax Galaxy EVO w model egx ewt My computer was made by Digital Storm More system details available if needed nbsp

A:PSU replacement question

1. What hardware do you have in your system that needs such power? We need your hardware specs: CPU, GPU, amount of RAM, drives, etc.
2. Why does he believe a complete rebuild is necessary because that particular psu isn't made anymore? Is it a special size? If your case is to standard specs then see point #3.
3. Who is this support tech? Does he work for Digital Storm by chance? Check these psu's that will more than meet your power needs: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...07657 600479299&IsNodeId=1&name=1200W - 1499W
4. Before you spend any $ find someone who has a digital volttage meter and test your psu to see if that is really the cause.

Hi you all!

I have an Asus Laptop, last generation i7, 8gb... almost nice. Code: N550LF

Problem: I have to work all day with my laptop, with graphic software and so on.
Almost 10/12 hours or more per day. In my old Dell (I had it for 5 years) I changed for this reason the battery every year.
It is extremely important for my work, even if not everyone cares about battery.

Requested solution: what can I do to preserve (as much as possible) the battery?

What others said: A friend of mine told me to always plug in the computer, because the computer doesn't charge the battery when it is full. In this way I can preserve the battery.
The Asus website doesn't give any advice about it.
The official support by mail told me to not plug the battery when it is 100% charged. This could be dangerous. So, no way to preserve it.

And in your opinion?

Thank you in advance

A:Battery advice

Batteries these days like to stay between 20% and 90% charge.
Leaving the laptop/device plugged in when it reaches 100% does no damage, as most devices have an automatic charge cut-off. So you won't over-charge your batteries.
The problem is, that you're keeping the battery between 98-100% charge all the time, when this is not a sweet spot for the battery at all. It will degrade very slightly faster.
Therefore, in order to keep maximum battery life, keep battery between 20-90% charge.

Hi,

I have been trying to find a replacement battery for my HP G70 laptop. On the old battery it says to replace with battery 485041-003 but there doesn't seem to be any HP batteries and the names on the batteries and, indeed, the companies who are selling them, are companies that I have never heard of. I have looked at the reviews for most of them and there are mixed renews but a lot saying the batteries do not last as long as the old one. Given that anyone can set up a ficticious company and call it co.uk, which company in the UK do you recommend?

I have an Acer laptop I bought last January Wear? Minimize Battery It s a Minimize Battery Wear? month laptop and someone told me that I should be removing the battery when I am using AC power I was hesitant at first so I installed a software called BatteryBar Pro Upon installing I was surprised that my battery wear was already at Minimize Battery Wear? A:Minimize Battery Wear?

If your laptop allows you to, some laptops have an option to confine the battery to between 20% and 85% or something. That'll reduce wear if you can enable that. It'll also help if you manually do that as well.

Li-Ion/LiPo "wear" is well documented and the causes are well known for consumer chemistries.
Storing at high temperatures will increase degradation.
Storing at 4.2v/cell (fully charged) will increase degradation.
Keeping it below ~3.0v/cell (discharged) will degrade it.

So, in general, spend as little time as possible depleted or fully charged. If you fully charge it before leaving for the day, then start using it within a few hours, the wear is very minimal so you shouldn't worry about fully charging it if you're planning on using it soon, just don't store it for long periods fully charged.
Likewise if you leave it fully depleted for a long while, that will also accelerate wear.

If you need to store it, 40% charge (3.85v/cell) is commonly recommended but there is very little difference between storing it between 20% and 80% charge. Again the only times that storage can heavily degrade the battery is if it's fully charged (4.2v) or fully discharged (<3.3v resting)

Quick glance over, everything looks fine to me.

Current 4th gen i5 and motherboard with DDR3 1600 memory. The case is a standard ATX, so the motherboard will fit nicely. The Radeon HD 7870 (single card 500W) calls for 600W in XFire, and you have a 650W selected. Everything else is fairly standard, where there is no need to worry them.

The 500W will be fine running a single GTX 760. However you did list a motherboard that supports two cards. AMD Crossfire anyway, there was no mention of SLI support.

I have a board that has dual AMD Athlon 64 FX-74s, the fans are incredidbly loud and I searched online but all I found were pretty much the exact same ones that I already have. I don't want to replace the current fans with identical ones that I will probably have the same problem with... So I was wondering if anyone knew of some compatible replacements for these... I would like ones that will give good air flow for the price seeing how I will need 2 of them....

Yes it does. It supports MicroATX through SSI EEB.

Good build. I recommend you wait till September 25th for the GPUs since AMD is set to unveil something new. Or if you want, just get the 7970 and wait for the new GPUs to release. Just remember, dont waste your money on watercooling if you have just 1 GPU.

The motherboard will support any PCIe x16 graphics card. Just remember the second x16 slot is only pinned for x4 connectivity and is limited to PCIe 2.0 specs.

A:Replacement PSU's keeps failing

If the psu's are failing like that, chances are something is causing the issue (the odds of that many psu's failing that quickly is very low)

Test the Psu's on another system for starters to see if they are actually bad. That could at least let you make sure it's not something else causin the problem.

I would also try other outlets because a faulty plug can be an issue (plus use a power strip, it helps protect your machine ).

I do not think its the motherboard or the video card as if it was, they would not be functional period. It can also be heat/stress on the psu if the psu is getting to hot due to location or if there's lots if dust build up causing it to fail.

Hey everyone I have an old laptop with a battery that lasts about h in quot Power Saving quot mode I m going to be stuck next week for about hours at a location with few available public outlets and need to stretch my battery life as much as possible I ve already for battery to Looking life extend ways "techie" done the obvious generic tips of quot defragging the hard drive quot quot dimming the screen quot quot using few no external devices quot quot tweaking my power usage settings quot etc but it s not enough I m looking for some good quot techie quot solutions now like quot underclocking the CPU quot or quot removing the CD drive quot All suggestions are appreciated I d love to try to squeeze another hours out of this battery if possible no I don t have another battery and don t need to buy one just for this one event Thx PS Another idea Removing HDD and booting from USB Flash drive nbsp

A:Looking for "techie" ways to extend battery life

Removing the HDD and booting from a flash drive is probably the worst decision you can make. Flash drives have very slow speeds (even though they are flash memory, they arent fast) and very little capacity. Keep the HDD.

There are only a few more ways to improve battery life other than dimming your screen and adjusting the power usage settings. Under-clocking the CPU is really done by the "power saving" mode.

Try these suggestions:
1) Run this tool: http://support.microsoft.com/mats/windows_battery_power_settings
2) Turn of your network adapter. There is usually a switch on the side of the PC that toggles the network adapter on and off. That will save you a ton of power. Also make sure bluetooth is off. I dont think your older PC will have it, but just make sure.
3) Use this tool to remove any unnecessary processes from start up. This will speed up your computer while also reducing the amount of processes that run (thus reducing CPU and RAM usage).

I can suggest other options, I just need your OS. If it is Windows 7, it is easy too, if it is XP, I cant really help there since I forgot the OS.

Hello , I am buying different parts in order to build a decent gaming pc at a relatively cheap price.

I would like to know if these four are compatible :
- Graphics card : POV TGT GeForce GTX 650 Ti Performance Boost or MSI GTX 650 ti OC
Power Edition . What differences are there between POV and MSI?
- Motherboard : MSI Z77MA-G45 or Z77A-G45 . I went on the MSI site and I didnt find in the
compatibility sheet with VGA cards, the GTX 650 TI , is it normal ???
- Processor : Intel Core i3 3220 Ivybridge
- Memory : Kingston 4Go DDR3 1600MHz CL9 HyperX PnP

Thank you.

A:New graphics card compatibility

Yes, this is all compatible. List your PSU to make sure though, as this has a large effect on compatibility too.

MSI vs POV - they're just brands. They may have slightly different overclocks and coolers.

Also, either upgrade your CPU, or downgrade your mobo. You don't need a Z77 mobo. Either way, I highly recommend an i5 3470 CPU anyway.

A:Compatibility check

Over-clocking is easy, I understand your concerns though. It doesn't void the warranty. But, if you set the voltage too high then you can wreck your CPU. I recommend you watch videos if you want to OC.
1) I would get a K series CPU just so that you can future proof it longer. (CPUs dont really need to be replaced as often as GPUs, so get a good one @ the time of purchase)
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116501&Tpk=3770k&IsVirtualParent=1
Note: If you want to OC, and get the K series like I recommended, then you may wanna add in a Hyper 212 Evo.

2) I would get this PSU instead: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139010 Since you are spending so much on your build, you wanna get a reliable power supply, and the one I stated is high quality.

3) The 3GB GTX 660TI is not necessary for 1080P resolutions. It may come in handy in the future with more strenuous games, but games are good at working with what you have and toning down AA (uses up most VRAM) wont do much other than take away unnecessary eye candy.

4) When you get all your components together you will have to set the RAM to 1600MHz through the BIOS.

Note: When building a PC, dont use drivers from CDs. You will want to get drivers from online. Would you like me to outline the vital drivers you will need when you receive your PC?

As for the $100 question, yes they are all compatible.

I'm very new to this, and trying to upgrade the CPU and graphics card in my PC.

I have a Pegatron Narra5 motherboard, and I'm planning to get an AMD Athlon II X4 640 Propus 3.0GHz Socket AM3 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor ADX640WFGMBOX for it.

My question is, what's a fairly high-end graphics card that would be compatible with these two?

The MSI Computer Corp ATI Radeon HD7770 1020 MHz 1GB DDR5 PCI-Express 3.0 x16 Graphics Cards R7770-2PMD1GD5/OC was suggested to me, would that probably work?

A:CPU, motherboard, and GPU compatibility

That GPU isn't 'fairly high end'. It's very much mid-range. Here's a TS review of the card.

I guess now is the time to ask - what do you want to do with the computer? Depending on your PSU, you'll be limited to what GPU you can get. And if you go for higher-end stuff, the 4GB DDR2 RAM limit on your mobo may start to hurt, along with your CPU.

Hi;
I have a 11yr old Dell Inspiron 8100 Notebook computer. It started shutting down mysteriously while working, and sometimes shuts down a second or two after powering on.
I was planning to scrap the thing, maybe try to sell it for parts on Ebay, but decided to take one more look.
Today I found that the CMOS battery (reserve battery) is bad. It is leaking but has not damaged anything.
Could the fact that this battery is bad (maybe shorted) cause the computer to shut down as I described?
Since I have the whole thing dis-assembled I can replace the battery easily. I found them on Ebay but not sure I should buy one there, since it could be an old battery that is no good.
Any ideas?

Thanks

A:CMOS battery problem

Was the battery you replaced the bad one with brand new? Also make sure it is a 3V battery and to be safe, make sure it has the markings 'CR2032" on it (that is what mine has). Other batteries of the same size and voltage MAY be fine, but I can't really vouch for them. Also, if you have one, it might pay to check the batteries voltage with a multimeter.

Also, if you buy a new one, it might pay to make sure that it is meant for a computers motherboard, as some may or may not be, just to be on the safe side. I don't really know a great deal about these batteries.

I recently purchased an Asus N56V Series laptop. The laptop has impressive specs, including an i7 Core and a Nvidia GT 635M graphics adaptor, so I can understand it having a below average battery life. However, I am only getting 1 to 2 hours of battery life on it, even when I am not running processor and graphic intensive programs. Product review indicate that will battery life for this laptop is below average, the battery should still last 4 hours under normal conditions.

Is there any reason why my battery life is so limited? Has anyone else had similar problems with this model of laptop?

A:New rig compatibility check

If you're asking whether all these parts together will boot up and run Windows/Apps/Games... then yes, it should run just fine (so long as your case has enough clearance for that Evo which I think it does.) You may get several people giving their personal opinions on some of the parts so you might want to give a bit of detail about what you already have or parts that you have no control over. For the most part it should be a really fast machine with the exception of an SSD.

Hi,

I just bought an ASUS GTX560TI gpu and intalled it in my Asus P5G41T-M LX3 Motherboard . The GPU does not seem to give output or is not being recognized by the MB. Could there be compatibility issues between the 2 cards or is it a fault with the GPU. My old Radeon 4890 works fine. The only reason I am upgrading is because Windows 8 is not compatible with my old card. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks....

There's no way to upgrade a video card in a laptop unless it's something from ASUS, MSI, Alienware, (If you're lucky)

But even if you could, the upgrade would probably be anywhere from $200-$600+ maybe even more. Old 7900GTX Go cards are still fetching roughly $100 on Ebay

Hi, so I've recently purchased a radeon HD6870 card and was considering going for a cross fire setup.

At the moment a second 6870 is outside my budget. Whould it be possible to pop in a 6850 without any issues?

Is crossfire limited to a given manufacturer or can I mix them.......I.e Sapphire + HIS

A:Crossfire compatibility... 6870+6850?

Any manufacturer will work with any other as long as it is the same card. No the 6870 needs another 6870 to crossfire I assume that hybrid crossfire might work but it would be less than stellar. Others would know more on the subject.

I recently got this computer from a friend so I have no idea how long this has been going on. Probably why he got rid of it. I will plug in the power cord and try to boot with the battery in and nothing will happen. If I reach under the laptop and remove the battery and then try to boot up it comes on like normal. I can then put the battery back in but it makes no difference after that. The battery is completely dead. Does anyone know if this is a common problem with a bad battery or what. The computer is a Dell Latitude D630. If I knew that putting a good new battery in it would fix it I would without hesitation I just need to know if that is the problem or is it another glitch. If anyone knows the answer I would appreciate if they would pass it on. Thanks

A:Compatibility test

Hi Dillon, there's a few things that you could tell us to help us help you.
1. Do you have a budget?
2. Are you willing to buy online?
3. What is your intended usage for this PC? Anything other than gaming?
4. Do you require any specific parts?

as for your current list, It looks OK, but I would make some changes.

firstly, switch the AMD FX-4170 out for an intel i5. I run an FX-6100 in my rig, and it performs nicely, but it's not so great for intense gaming (BF3, Metro 2033, Crysis, etc.) I'd go with the intel i5 3570K or the 2500K. A nice Motherboard to go along with that CPU would be the Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H, which is around $175.
Also, I'd suggest you look into getting an aftermarket Heatsink for your CPU. the Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO is insanely good for the price of around $35, so I highly recommend that.
Next, the EVGA GTX560Ti is a great choice for gaming, but at around $330 (AUD) it's a bit pricey, and you'd be happier with a HD7870 or a GTX570. here are four cards I'd recommend:

AMD: Sapphire Radeon HD7870 2GB GHz - $320
or if you're willing to spend a little extra: MSI R7950 - $369
both these cards would outperform a 560Ti, plus they're PCI3.0

NVIDIA: ASUS GTX570 - $309
or if you're willing to spend a little extra: Gigabyte GTX670 - $399
these cards would absolutely demolish any game when paired up with a 3570K or a 2500K.

my personal recommendation would be:
CPU: intel i5 3570K
GPU: MSI R7950
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H - $175
HSF: Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO - $35

this list is just my opinion, so feel free to disregard :3

Anyway, moving on, the rest of the parts seem good, it's just those few things I wanted to point out. I'm sure other techspotters will help soon enough too.
Good luck

Looks good, everything is compatible.

One thing I noticed is the case doesn't have USB 3.0 front panel ports. If you plan for having USB 3.0 now you can save yourself from upgrading later. If you do plan for including USB 3.0, you might could use a motherboard that includes a USB 3.0 connector on-board.

The motherboard had a H61 chip-set that was designed for Sandy Bridge. I noticed Ivy Bridge has also been listed in the CPU support list.

Hopefully one of you guys can explain something for me. I have fitted a new battery to my Toshiba laptop and since fitting it the keyboard and mousepad refuse to work. If I plug in a USB mouse that works OK but still no keyboard. If I boot into safe mode everything runs OK.
I took out the battery and ran just on mains and everything runs fine and cpu is back to normal, putting the old battery in also enables the laptop to run OK.
Thinking the high cpu usage might be malware I ran Malwarebytes and Combofix but they found nothing.
Has anyone any suggestions as to why the new battery is giving these issues, never had any problems with other batteries I have fitted to laptops.

There are LOTS of problems with new laptop batteries... one study reports anywhere from 6% to 11% of China batteries are unreliable or defective. you have no idea how long it has been sitting on the shelf or in a warehouse box in some shipping point.
First, clean you contact points with an eraser, and look for loose connection points, then consider returning to the seller for for an exchange.

gr7070 said:

First concern:
The current, non-working, power cord has a hexagonal (cross-section) male end that plugs into the laptop. The replacement cord has the more typical round (cylindrical) end. The replacement cord does fit in the laptop and it is not apparent, physically, that it is a problem.Click to expand...

If the cord will fit the plug without changing polarity, you don't have a problem there.

gr7070 said:

Second Concern:
The current, non-working (hexagonal), cord input matches the input on the replacement (round) cord, as expected since they're U.S. cords meant for U.S. power sources. However, the output is not the same.

current, non-working (hexagonal), cord output: DC 19.5V 3.34A
replacement (round) cord output: DC 19.5V 4.62A

Will the higher amperage of the replacement cord cause a problem, especially a potential safety issue? The laptop is left plugged in for long periods of time, unattended. I?d hate to start a fire.

Can someone with more electrical knowledge let me know if my concerns have merit or is my little, but more than zero, knowledge of electricity creating a concern where there should be none.Click to expand...

As long as you operate at the same voltage and supply enough current you will be fine. Same voltage as in DC or AC and the same number value for the amount of voltage.

Current values (3.34A) can be higher as long as the are not lower, your device will only draw the current it requires. If the device requires more current than is available, this is where problems start to arise.

I could go into more details but I will spare you the other un-known language. LOL

gr7070 said:

I'm not going to tell you that it's not possible for it to start a fire but it's highly unlikely. The most common effect would be frying components on the inside of the power supply or PC. You might smell the components afterward but usually nothing more. As long as you stick with the same voltage and the same or more current, you shouldn't have any issues.

But you don't want to assume the various modules would work together, or at the same time. Those listings of compatibility may show they work in the same system, but may or may not show memory that works together..

4. I would highly appreciate it if you guys can tell/advice/suggest me if the config is alright or not.

Thanks.

A:Mobo, CPU and graphic card compatibility question

Graphics card will work but the CPU won't. you need either of these CPU's.

SandyBridge (SB) was never designed to be a replacement for X58 but a replacement for LGA 1156. Due to some of the architecture design changes, the CPU is size changed so it is no longer compatible with the LGA 1156 or X58. The X58 is still considered Intel's Highend Setup until the X79 was released.

The issue Intel has created is that the performance of the SB is so good, it has made both previous platforms obsolete in terms of price to performance. There is no need to purchase a 2011 socket setup and the X79 is only king on high resolution multiple card setups (high level multi-tasking / CS5 / AutoCAD work is ruled by the i7 980X) due to the lack of bandwidth restrictions.

If you don't plan on running dual cards or over 1920x1200 resolution, than IMO the SB is the way to go!

I currently have a Lenovo laptop and have had it for 2 and a half years. The battery has always been pretty bad and last about 3 minutes unplugged. The hard drive is a temperamental one from an old laptop as the original broke for no apparent reason, probably didn't help I was constantly having to rebuild it too. I know it is stupid but when I got this laptop I was young and naive and didn't realise how essential recovery disks are.
I realise to replace all of these would be quite expensive so am wondering whether it is worth just buying a new laptop?

A:Worth replacing the hard drive, battery and buying recovery disks?

We need more information to comment.
There are at least 7 levels of Lenovo laptop... Is this a T-series... or just what is it? model and type.
In general, Lenovo laptops are among the most reliable...
This is not a good time to buy hard drives, due to the market over-adjusting to the hard drive factories under water in Thailand.
Batteries, good ones, can be found for $35 to $45
But you can get a 90 GB SATA hard drive for $90 or less.
Tell us the hard drive brand and size, the amount of memory installed.
All in all, we can rebuild a decent Lenovo for $140... and that is a lot less expensive than a new laptop. But a shop would have to charge you $205 or more.
A cheap laptop might cost you $500 to $600, but a good laptop could cost you $1200 to $1800. For long term reliability, I would want to invest at least $1000 to $1500

Tell us more so we can best advise you.

Hi all, I am curious about any possible damage that might happen to a laptop battery if after the battery has been completely charged, it is left plugged in.

I've been told that I should remove the battery if I'm going to leave it plugged in because it may overheat and become damaged. Could someone shed some light on this for me please?

All of us want to prolong our battery s life But without question every battery has a natural course of aging After used for a long time the battery get weak This life prolong battery's to How your is cannot be eliminated but we can prolong this aging course by using suitable method Usually if you want to prolong your battery s life you How to prolong your battery's life must pay attention to steps in using battery Store battery Put your batteries in a cool and dry place when you store it Do not charge your lithum batteries too full before storage After using the laptop battery please clean up the metal terminals with a soft dry clean cloth Before storage you should confirm your is not fully depleted If empty charge for about minutes Usually a lithium-ion battery should be stored at about state-of-charge The suitable storage temperature for batteries is around C Please notice this weak batteries charge faster and remain on ready indicator longer than strong ones Also it only be used for a short time So do not buy a used battery even if it is very cheap because used battery usually means weak battery Charge battery Most battery can be fully charged in about hours so do not leave a battery in a charger for a long time When you prepare to charge How to prolong your battery's life your battery make sure the temperature How to prolong your battery's life is around the room temperature Especially need to pay attention is avoid over-charging and over-discharging Do not charged to higher voltages than its threshold voltage as it would become unsafe Prepare a new battery for replacement if your battery get weak over time Please notice this It is not very distinct to reduce the charge time by increasing the charge current Maintain battery Rechargeable batteries do not break suddenly but slowly get powerless over time Right regular battery maintenance is necessary Most battery can be fully charged in about hours so do not leave a battery in a charger for a long time Use soft and dry cloth to clean your battery after using it Store it in a cool and dry place The suitable temperature is about C Do not charge your battery before fully discharged Usually a lithium-ion battery should be stored at about state-of-charge because laptop battery s self discharge can break the battery in the storage If possible reduce the times of using the battery Please take out the battery from your machine when it is not being used In the end I hope you can take better care of your batteries You need them for your daily life nbsp

A:How to prolong your battery's life

Where did you get this information? Some of it I'd agree with, others I don't. It also reads like a post you copy pasted into lots of places around the internet - however a quick googling didn't return anything.

1.Store battery :
Put your batteries in a cool and dry place when you store it.
Yes, that is generally good practice for lots of things.

Do not charge your lithum batteries too full before storage.
Ok, no prob here either, although saying that doing so can decrease overall capacity of the battery would have made it a better statement.

After using the laptop battery ,please clean up the metal terminals with a soft dry clean cloth.
So, I should take the battery out of my laptop every time I've used the laptop while not plugged in. This is not practical on some laptops and ultrabooks, nor does it seem necessary since I have never seen a corroded laptop battery.

Before storage, you should confirm your is not fully depleted. If empty, charge for about 30 minutes . Usually a lithium-ion battery should be stored at about 40% state-of-charge.
I've seen 50% thrown around, but I'll accept 40%.

The suitable storage temperature for batteries is around 15C
Ok. Haven't heard this, but I suppose it makes sense.

Please notice this: weak batteries charge faster and remain on 'ready' indicator longer than strong ones. Also it only be used for a short time.So do not buy a used battery even if it is very cheap because used battery usually means weak battery.
This is confusing. Should define "weak". What does "remain on 'ready' indicator longer than strong ones" mean? Why would this happen? There are programs like BatteryCare for Windows and Coconut Battery for OS X that you could use to get information on a used battery before purchasing. Its possible with those tools to make an informed decision on whether or not the battery is worth the price. Simply dismissing the possibility of purchasing a used battery is lazy.

2.Charge battery :
Most battery can be fully charged in about 3 hours so do not leave a battery in a charger for a long time.
Are we still talking about laptop lithium batteries? They are intelligently charged based on circuitry in the battery pack to charge without overcharging, leaving in longer will not damage. A majority of battery chargers for NiCD, NiMH, and NiZn sold in the last 5+ years are also smart chargers and would stop charging once they sense a (typically) 0.01V decrease. Basically overcharging isn't a problem today.

When you prepare to charge your battery ,make sure the temperature is around the room temperature.
Makes sense.

Especially need to pay attention is avoid over-charging and over-discharging.
See above.

Do not charged to higher voltages than its threshold voltage ,as it would become unsafe.
As I said above, things are charged on smart chargers now, this isn't going to happen. It seems that starting with your #2 section you are mixing up laptop batteries and regular rechargable batteries like you use in a flashlight.

Prepare a new battery for replacement if your battery get weak over time.
Ok. Or you could just continue to use it, laptop batteries are expensive. If someone needed to get 5+ hours and now they can't, then of course they'll buy a replacement, don't think they need to be told to do so.

Please notice this: It is not very distinct to reduce the charge time by increasing the charge current .
What? Again, possibly talking about other types of batteries than lithium laptop batteries, but even at that I think you used a wrong word or two.

3.Maintain battery :
Rechargeable batteries do not break suddenly but slowly get powerless over time.
All? NiZn batteries have been known to "break" suddenly and not be able to be recharged. Lead Acid batteries in cars often start a car just fine, then the next attempt at... Read more

A:Graphics card compatibility

For the record there is a difference in PCI and PCIe. PCIe is the card slot you are talking about.

PCIe 1.0 and PCIe 2.0 is backward and forward compatible, so that is a non-issue for you.

PCIe 2.0 transfer rates can only be used when the motherboard and graphics card are both compliant. If both motherboard and graphics card are not compliant, PCIe 1.0 standards are used.

Edit:
As far as performance see for yourself. - http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu.php?gpu=Intel+G965+Express

Your internal graphics is "Intel G965 Express" which scores 111 on the PassMark Benchmark's.

Hello. I have a custom-built computer with a Gigabyte GA-KN8SC-939 motherboard with a Athlon64 3500+ processor. The motherboard had been having problems starting about a few years ago with random crashes occurring whenever devices were plugged in to now crashing and freezing up on a regular basis. I suspected it was the motherboard (no other devices were having problems, and the memory wasn't faulty), so I believe I need to replace the motherboard. However, knowing the age of this computer, I don't know if it's possible. Do you guys know of a motherboard that would have performance similar to this one and also work with a Socket 939 Athlon64 3500+ processor?

A:Need help a replacement motherboard

About the only place you will find a 939 board these days is ebay or at a computer shop that deals in used hardware. For less than $150 you can get an AM3 board Athlon II X2 and 4GB DDR3 If you want to go that route.
CPU: AMD Athlon II X2 250 Regor 3.0GHz
Motherboard: ASRock M3A770DE AM3
RAM:Crucial 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333

A setup such as this while not exceptionally powerful by todays standards, would run circles around that old socket 930 Athlon64 3500+ processor.

The only info I can find out for the MB is the following but it doesn't seem to reveal much.
2 x PCI Express x 16 slot for discrete graphics card
2 x PCI Express x 1
3 x PCI

A:PSU compatibility

If the PSU is stamped as a ATX PSU, and not some oddly sized OEM style version then you can upgrade it with any ATX type PSU.

Any half decent PSU will have all the connectors you need included. I would recommend you purchase a 500W PSU to give a little additional headroom.

What is your budget for a new PSU and I'll recommend a few.
