How to fix corruption error in Microsoft Access database

Q: How to fix corruption error in Microsoft Access database

I am in the process of developing an Access 2003 application, and almost done. While I was fixing some errors with controls on one of the reports, seems like the database corrupted. Now, I keep getting "microsoft office access has detected corruption in this file....etc". It instructs me to Compact & Repair, but when I get the same error message when I try that. If I open a blank database & try to import objects from the corrupted database, I cannot access/view the objects of the corrupted file from the blank database. Unfortunately, I dont have a backup of the file, I can try to restore to an earlier storage point (using System Restore), but will lose considerable work. Any ideas?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: How to fix corruption error in Microsoft Access database

It is sometimes a good idea to decompile your database and then compacting and repairing. I had a similar issue just the other week, my database kept of throwing an error "File not found" however i have no code within my DB that searching or references ANY file. I just decompiled the code and it all worked again..Create a shortcut and enter the below into the taget, you can also copy paste a shortcut and edit the target to the below. You will need the path to where MS ACCESS is installed and the path to where you database is stored. Then run the shortcut and it should decompile your database. Once you've sucessfully done that, compact and repair it again."C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\MSACCESS.EXE" "c:\YourDatabaseName.mdb" /decompilemessage edited by AlwaysWillingToLearn

I'm not too hot at creating a database in Access, so I was wondering if there was anyone out their prepared to help me construct one.

This database is designed to search for property from various locations and from various price ranges, you can also pick the type of property, the amount of bedrooms and have the result in descending or ascending order.

For location just use: Location 1, Location 2, Location 3, and Any
Price Ranges use: 30,000, 50,000, 70,000, 90,000, and 110,000
Type of property please use: houses, flats, and bungalows
Bedrooms use: 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5+

Fill in any data you wish, I think this needs to have a query setup?

Thanks for your help

A:microsoft access database from scratch

Beard, welcome to the Forum.
This sounds like a nice little beginner database which could probably be expanded in the future.
If you already have an Excel workbook with this data I would start by Importing it.
I would then create a "cabinet" table with an Autonumber ID field and the Item Code as an Indexed field with "No Duplicates" set.
Then create an Append query that appends all the Item Codes from the imported table.
That will give you the start of a table of Item codes than can be selected using a Combo rather than having the user type in the data.
You then replace the Item codes in the Imported table with the ID number from the new Item Codes table.

Good morning everyone,

My database at work has hit a snag. Whenever I open it I get this error (see attach.) Once I click on yes, it still does not open. It just shows the loading circle (Vista) constantly...

A colleague and myself are the only ones who use this database - it holds 17,000+ files that we have to track. Hers works fine, albeit slowly.

Any help out there with this one? Always appreciated.

Thanks

Dear all

I have setup a number of databases in Microsoft Access 97 and have them setup as various DSNs on an NT 4 server with IIS 4. (SP6)

Web pages connecting to them all work great.

However, I now use Access XP and would rather not have to keep converting databases to and from Access 97 format.

So, what I'm asking is how can I get the Access XP/2002 database driver onto the server?

I have visted www.microsoft.com/data and downloaded (and installed) MDAC 2.7 RTM but this hasn't added the later driver to the ODBC settings within control panel. I've also tried downloading and installing Jet 4 but without any success.

Would installing OXP on the server help? I'd have to remove it afterwards because I only have the one licence.

Please help me out if you can - it would save me tonnes of time.

Many thanks

Gareth

Hi everyone,

While I am not a tremendously experienced Microsoft Access user, I did manage to set a database password for a file of mine.

I thought this had made it secure however now we have discovered that when the file is emailed to another computer it can be opened without having to put in the password.

I thought that putting a password on the database would mean that the password would need to be entered no matter where the file was opened. Is there any way I can secure my file across any computer that it could possibly be opened up on.

We are running Office XP on Windows XP.

Thanks,

Layla

I am thinking about creating a password database in MS Access. Does anyone know where to find a template for type of database. I would want to encrypt it but I have found a lot of software to get the password of a Microsoft Access Database, Is this software good enough to protect all of my passwords? I had bought one, but it seems like Microsoft Access could do a much better job than the one I bought.

When opening Microsoft Access, the norm is to have a samller window inside the large window pop up that says the type of data base. Then you can click on the icon inside to open up the database. Well, someone in my office closed out the smaller window and I can't figure out how to get it back. I tried looking in the recent history to no avail.

I know this is a stupid question, but I can't figure it out and the database holds my list of clients which I desperately need. Any help would be appreciated.

I have an access 2003 database that calls a VB6 module. The module starts and then I get a run-time error 75 path/file access error. I can execute the vb module outside of access but I have to run as administrator for it to work correctly. What can I fix so that the call from access will execute? I believe the issue is with comctl32.ocx and the status bar control inside the vb module.

Hi! I hope someone could help me out.

I am using this Microsoft Access that has a database that is as old as 20-30years on an old desktop. It has been passed down to me for generations that used to work on this Access. Used it as a contact list, and a Report Generator Software that I use to generate a report that I could print via Access. The database is working fine, but is super super super slow! (The computer CPU even have a floppy disk reader, and it takes 10 minutes for the desktop to start. That's how old the computer is!).

I bought a brand new desktop an updated one, and I wanted to transfer all data from the Microsoft Access and Report Generator Software to my new desktop. How can I do this without missing a single data?

Thank you for those people that would try and help me out.

Hello,
Unfortunately i'm not an expert in Microsoft Access 2010, but i've come across a problem with one of my databases that is running on a Windows 7 computer.
The problem is that when the database runs, it has a very very slow response time, yet if I copy it to another Windows 7 or XP computer the response time is fast.
So far I have updated the computer with Windows 7 updates, and modified the registry buffer size to 50000 in the Access Connectivity Engine setting, but the Microsoft Access database is still very slow at loading and accessing the data.
Any help greatly appreciated.
thanks,
Paul.

What is the bad reason behind SQL server corruption and how can I resolve it after MDF files corruption.? i want read about more information about this SQL sever corruption and how to fix errors and recover MDF files.

A:Bad reason of SQL server database corruption and how can fix...

There are many reasons that will cause SQL Server database corruptions, including: 1. Hardware failure, such as disk failure, power interruption, etc.2. Software problems, such as defections in SQL Server itself, malware, virus, etc.3. Human misoperations. When SQL Server corruptions occurs, then the possible solutions are based on the situation: 1. If the corruption is not severe, then you can use the SQL Server build-in command DBCC CheckDB to correct the errors. See http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms176064.aspx 2. If the corruption is severe, then you may try some third party tools such as DataNumen SQL Recovery to scan and recover the data from your corrupted MDF and NDF database files. Good luck!

I have a bit of a problem. The thing is when working with access and the database has errors in it and it is connected to the delphi program using an ado connection string and all the tables are set to true in the program last time you saved. The program wont open again. It simply dissapears. This happens when using delphi 6; However this problem is fixed in delphi 7, so I used delphi 7 to open my project only then it came up with an error with dbmemo datafield. Its like its not possible to use dbmemo when using Delphi 7. This has happened before. And then I was programming using win 98, delphi 6 , access and saved my work to a cd. I then opened it on my laptop using winxp and it didtn't work. I tried it on two other laptop's that use winxp and no luck

This may go along with the other post I started here and it may not That is where you come in The company I just started working for is using a program that uses a Access Database with all of the info in it This program was written in what I believe is Crystal language according using error Database that program 3421 time Run when Access uses to what I have gathered from doc types It gives reports in rpt format and I saw something else that said Crystal and so I looked it up and it was a language The doc type is also a crystal report doc type apparently This program accesses the database and brings up model numbers Run time error 3421 when using program that uses Access Database and info about it Now normally we can put in these fields needed and hit add to batch then print batch Run time error 3421 when using program that uses Access Database and it will print Something happened where now if we do it once we hit print I get Runtime error - Data Type Conversion Error Apparently before the error this time they would enter a letter or something instead of a number and it would give an error Run time error 3421 when using program that uses Access Database message It would still show up in the access report though Then my boss would go into the database and delete the bad entries and apparently it would work again Now we are having an issue where we get this error no matter what They put in the same fields as numbers and this error pops up I cannot figure out why it is doing this and the program is basically useless right now These entries are not showing up in the database either We deleted all of the old entries that were made into the database and nothing is working If you have any ideas I would love to try them From what I was looking at online it looked like if it was some code written wrong then it would spit this error out when the wrong data type was entered such as a letter where a number should go I don't know hardly any programming so it is foreign to me The other thread I wrote about was that when I go to open Access I get a error saying that a mail ocx is missing I believe this started happening near the same time but I am not too sure as I just started working here about a week ago Could that have something to do with it I could not find hardly ANYTHING about mail ocx Not even what it is for Thank you for your time on this long post I appreciate any help Rob

A:Run time error 3421 when using program that uses Access Database

WELL I FIXED IT! It was indeed an issue where an extra letter not a number got typed into a quantity field. Instead of being "6" it was "6B". I deleted the B and everything started working. I can't believe it was that easy. The reason I didn't catch it earlier was because it was in a completely different file than the one it uses to pull the information from. Apparently my boss didn't know that or whatever I am not sure. The program was open and so the access file was locked but I saw another access file was also locked. So I decided to see what that file was and I noticed the lookups in a table that we were trying to do every time we got an error. I then noticed the "6B" pretty fast and thought, no way it could have been this easy. But of course it was. Like it always is. He just told me that he used the other file. Well now I know!

In our company we decided to upgrade our old Access 2003 at last. And after this upgrading I can?t load any .mdb files. They are inaccessible. Every attempt to open it is accompanied by an error: ?An error occurred while loading Form_FormName. Do you want to continue?? If I click Yes, then pops up another error: ?Invalid procedure call or argument?. Colleagues tell me that it a cause of corruption and that the cause is upgrading of the Access I want to know, is it true? Which follow-up actions do we make?

A:An error occurred while loading Form in Access database

Hi Quetzal, welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

Later versions of Access use an .accdb suffix & not the .mdb suffix & this is the cause of your problem. As you mentioned updating from Access 2003 I assume you are now using Access 2013, so these websites might help you.
In the first one scroll down to the links contained in it & follow those as well. The second one may not be relevant but it does contain some info that might be of interest to you.

I have found from several forums and support sites including Microsoft that many users are asking solution for the error generating by MS Access 2010 or 2007 while running their custom made Access 2003 database usually after after upgrade.
The error is showing as "The expression On Click you entered as the event property setting produced the following error: The expression you entered has a function name that Microsoft Office Access can't find."

The solution is as below:
This error is causing due to disabled macro setting by default. So you will need to enable the macro as per the following method.
Go to File > Options > Trust Center
Then Click on "Trust Center Settings".
Here click on the Option " Show the Message Bar ... ..."
Re-open the Access File in exclusive mode
Now click on the yellow message bar on to to enable macro..... ..... problem solved.

Welcome to TSG and I appreciate the pro-active post.

A another solution is to learn the Trust Center. In there you can enable all macros.

Hi,
I don't support Access, nor have I been trained in it, but I've been asked if I can help in this problem.
An Access database connects externally to a SQLServer database at login time for the application. How do I find which external database they are connecting to? I know that there is a way to go behind the forms to see the source code, but I cant remember how to do this.
I cannot find an obvious User/System file dsn on the PC to give me a clue.
Thanks in advance

Here's the question- how do I open a form in an existing database from another db in Access 2010 using VBA and give it focus. I can open the external db and it's form but cannot figure how to give it focus. I'm trying to create a master form that will call various databases that each have a form. Seems simple, open the master menu, click on a button that then opens the called db and the associated form. Do my business exit the db and am back at the master form. I would be okay to just close the master db, all it has it the main menu or leave it open. Doesn't matter which I just want to open the called db and form and have its focus.

I ve built a reasonably complex database system that maintains bookings attendances timetables payments etc for a music tuition school using Access as both the front and back end sigh only because that s all I have to database error... A:Access 2007 "3734" database lock error...

I stay away from Access these days specifically because of problems like this. I can't offer you much help with the problem other than to say that I think your project probably is corrupted, but at least your data probably isn't. You may be able to re-create it in Access by attaching the mdb file to a new db project and then copying and pasting a lot of your forms and functions over, one at a time, testing after each step so that you will hopefully catch the problem and not transfer it to the new project.

I would definitely recommend getting out of Access. MySql and VB is not a bad idea. I think, however, that, since you are used to Access, you might have an easier time transitioning to SQLServer (Microsoft SQL varies in some key areas from the pure SQL you'd use with MySQL). Also, the free version of SQLServer is probably easier to install and configure (on a local machine) than MySQL.

Depending on your needs, I'd steer you more toward ASP.net than just straight VB.net. I've developed several of these types of applications, on both platforms and I always feel handicapped when working just in VB.Net. ASP.net brings in other elements that you'd need to learn, but also provides a lot of very easy methods for displaying data that are more or less absent from VB. Plus, the web browser eases a lot of the formatting burdens that can drive you insane in VB.net. Either way, I'd recommend downloading the Express version of Visual Studio and running through some of the "Getting Started" walkthroughs; they are very helpful and will help you get a better idea of what your options are.

Good luck!

So I began having a problem using the voice chat program Curse a month ago or so. It just stopped opening and would give an error about a corrupt .net framework file or something similar to that. I Uninstalled and reinstalled curse to no avail, same problem. I ran .net framework repair tool which said it repaired it. Now Curse states it can not open because I do not have the proper version of .Net framework and offers to install it. When I try it install .net framework again it won't because it gives an error stating that I already have an updated version of .Net framework.

Also this may be unrelated but Microsoft Office will not open either, does not give an error message just doesn't open.

Any suggestions on what to do?

According to what I've read, Access 2010 uses the same database format as Access 2007. So this should mean I can open and run a 2007 database (with a lot of VBA code) in Access 2010 with no trouble, yes?

A:microsoft database question

Are you sure it's a database? You'd probably be better off using a spreadsheet, then you could use a formula such as

=(RIGHT(A1,1)=RIGHT(B1,1))+(RIGHT(B1,1)=RIGHT(C1,1))+(RIGHT(A1,1)=RIGHT(C1,1))

, which returns "1" if 2 of 3 match or "0" if 0 of 3 match. Ugly I know, but it's all I can think of for now.

Andy

Have you tried going to Start> Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Computer Management. It sounds like there's a corrupted file or a service is denying you access. You are the Administrator of windows? After trying the first scenario go to Start>Run and type services.msc and when the services window opens make sure Event Log, Windows Management Instrumentation(WMI), and Remote Procedure Call (RPC) are started and not disabled. Haven't come across this myself, may be a common known issue.

I am working with the Microsoft Works Database program that comes with Windows XP. I am listing a number of books, their isbn's and their prices. I evidently punched a wrong button because now every time I enter a new book the price from the previous entry is automatically entered for the new book. For example, if the price for the previous book was 19.99 that is automatically entered as the price for the next book.

It's not a big problem, because I can override it by simply entering the correct price, but still it's annoying. Anyone know how I can undo this default price setting?

Thanks!

Hi, I have a large list of items in a database that are numbered using a numbering row. They are then filtered to match certain criteria. So now the number row is no longer consecutive. What I want to do is make a new number row that tells me the occurence of each record happening. For instance,if my database stats at number 3 then the next number is 7,i want to have 7 -3 to give four.Basically,I want to know the distance between each record. If I could use a formula for the whole number row that would take a record and minus it from another? Thanks JIM

How can I get my MS Works database files to be able to be transferred to another program such as Open Office or Office? I have a lot of collected information in many files that I can't share with anyone else who doesn't have Works. The Office Database is far too complicated for me and much more powerful than I need for my own use.

A:Microsoft Works Database files

Did you TRY exporting?

A typical choice for database conversions is to export -> CSV format and then work with that
to create the imports. Hint: Export only one TABLE at a time.

I have created a macro that will run an access database query and copy the results into Excel. It runs fairly well except on one PC where it gives me a:

"Run-time error '3706' Provider cannot be found. It may not be properly installed."

The error occurs in this particular line of code:
' Open connection to the database
cnt.Open "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;" & _
I'm not sure if I have to change the version of the provider and if this is case how does one go about doing so.

Thank you

A:Spybot & Access db corruption

Welcome to TSG.....

The key word here is VB Scripts, Spybot must think that some of or all of the VB Scripts are infections of some sort. Spybot has a settings section that might be able to clear this up for you. What version of Spybot are you using?

Hello I have written a Delphi app that File 97 mdb Access corruption makes a file copy of a blank mdb database containing three empty tables writes that copied file to another folder and then populates the tables in the copied file with data I have noticed an intermittent problem of Access 97 mdb File corruption both Access 97 mdb File corruption the original blank mdb file and its copy becoming corrupt The message I receive when I try to open either of these files is quot Your Microsoft Access database or project contains a missing or broken reference to the file dao mdb version quot I have searched in various forums for similar reported problems and have found references to this same error message but in each case the answer assumes that the problem has arisen due to dao operations on the mdb file after the file has been converted from an earlier version of Access and relates to a missing type library reference What I can t explain is why the original blank database becomes corrupt given that it remains untouched apart from the fact that a copy is made of it I m using Delphi on Windows XP Professional Any help in explaining and preventing this problem will be much appreciated Thanks Alan nbsp

Since installing Windows 10, I need to print a DVD database that I created on Microsoft Works Suite 2005. The error message I receive is "no default printer" or some such wording. The default printer IS set, and printing from any other site or app works fine. The laptop is a Lenovo, and the printer is Kodak. However, I do not see that the problem is in either of those, since it prints other things. When I look at compatibility for Windows 10, it reads that the Works 2005 is compatible. Please help, as frustration abounds. Thanks.

Hey all. My dad is having an issue with his computer that I've been unable to figure out, whether by my own means or just by searching. He is running Microsoft Works 6.0 on Windows Vista 32bit Home Edition, and is having some trouble printing from Works Database, which he uses quite a lot.

Whenever he tries to print something from Database (or go into print preview) he gets the following error:

Code:
The printer driver is missing or not valid.

Run the Windows Setup program to install the printer software again.
Naturally I have uninstalled and reinstalled the printer several times, but to no avail. Also an important note: This issue ONLY happens with Works Database, and not with any other product (Microsoft or otherwise).

If anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated

A:Microsoft Works Database printing issue

I have been doing more research and I'm starting to think that there is just a compatibility issue. I'm still wondering if anyone knows how to make this work with Vista.

If anyone has any suggestions on a program that is an alternative to Microsoft Database, that would also be pretty helpful. It's the only program my dad uses from the Works Suite.

Thanks again...

A:(Microsoft Access Driver) Error Count Field incorrect

Since no one else answered this one yet I guess I'll take a shot.

I would suspect there is a field being mapped to a field/variable of the wrong type. Do you have an aggregate function on a non-numeric field that's mapping into a field of the same type as the original instead of a numeric field that would hold the result of the aggregate?

If that does not help the is an MS article, basically, if you are in "Break mode" of a module that could also cause it.

A:Access 97 database in Access 2000?

Access should prompt them to either open the DB file or convert it to the newer version on startup. If it doesn't you can open the newer version of Access and go to Tools > Database Utilities > Convert Database.
Warning: Everything in your DB may not convert properly so be ready to do some work if this happens.
