I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Thanks for the alert. It is a very useful security feature to have.

I'm now very annoyed with Adobe for sticking their McAfee scanner onto my machine without so much as a checkbox of permission, but at least that uninstalled cleanly.

Hi, This is silly but...

I have created a template on excel for printing my company cheques and what I wanted to know was:

Can I create a formula or macro so that when I write a number in text (such as 'one' or 'two' or 'three', etc) in the cell representing the word part of my cheque, can I get that number (as '1' or '2' or '3', etc) to appear in another cell representing the numerical part of my cheque.

This is a lazy man's burden but I thought it would also suffice as a check that the right amount was going on both parts.

Sorry for the bother but ...

I'm working on a spreadsheet that lists monthly recurring expenses. I have one cell on the sheet listing the current date (using the "=Now()" formula), but I'd like to have the other cells change at certain times throughout the month.

For example, if one cell currently says "April-15", when the actual date reads "April-16", the respective cell would change to "June-15". This way, whenever the spreadsheet is viewed the next recurring payment date will be seen.

I know this is the wrong tool for something like this - I'm using SharePoint at the office with a calendar list with workflows that shoot off emails in a much better put together format - but this is just for home use and I'd like to keep it all in one document if possible.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

A:Excel 2010: Cell Date Change with Current Date

The way I read it was that you have fixed recurring payment dates, so you just want to know the next date based on the day today. Hope the attached might assist.
You need to list the payment dates somewhere and then the formula looks up the next date. You might want to look up today plus 1 (or something) to reflect the fact that if the next payment date is today, there's a good chance you'll not get any unplanned payments on that run.

For instance, if I highlight a word in a text-entry field, it's a very bright blue. This is also true in Firefox, Thunderbird, Word, OneNote, various fora, etc. but not in Excel.

Prior to installing Windows 10, the highlight in a text-entry field was either pale grey (on dark backgrounds) or darker grey (on light backgrounds), which is what I'd like to have back.

Any ideas?

Open up Notepadcopy the registry settings in the code box(left click 3 times slowly)Paste into NotePadYou will need to find the RGB values(if the ones I have supplied are not what you want) for the color you want, and change them.Create a registry file by saving(to Desktop or Documents) as TextColor.regDouble click the reg file.Sign out, sign in and your finished.To change the values just right click the file and choose edit, make the changes, save, close and see point #6

Code:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Colors]
"Hilight"="192 192 192"
"MenuHilight"="192 192 192"
Light Gray RGB=192 192 192

Ok, I need a formula in Excel that converts a date field (i.e., 7/29/04) to the name of the day that represents (i.e., Thursday). I don't care what form the day is, it can be text or date displayed with just the day.

A:Need a formula to convert a date to text

Actually you don't need a formula.

Just format the cell as Custom, with a format of dddd.

That will display only the full day (Thursday), without "destroying" the underlying date data.
ddd format displays the shortened version (Thu).

Question for everyone:

I am trying to cut and paste date from a webpage to an excel spreadsheet. I have tried a few methods but I always get the same problem of text turning into dates. For example I am trying to copy various Win loss records of sports teams such as 5-3. The problem is that 5-3 is displayed as May-3 or other date formats. I have tried using format cells and selected text but that just turns the date into a random #. If I format the cells before I paste the text it still comes up as a date. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Glad to find these forums. Hope I can contribute in some way!

I'm trying to convert data in a text field to a Date in MS Access '03.

The text field contains a "Date" field (as text) in the following format: 1022008

I'm using the following query expression - in a separate field - to display it as 10/22/2008:
Code:
Left([PickupDate],2) & "/" & Mid([PickupDate],3,2) & "/" & Right([PickupDate],4)
It works fine until I come across a date like: 1172008

Then it shows it as 11/72/2008 when I want it to display as: 11/7/2008.

This is a possible way, however there are some flaws with this, if you enter some text in A1 today, B1 will display todays date, however, when you open the workbook tomorrow it will change to tomorrows date. A predecessor designed a database that stores a text field that the end user fills with a date, like "Monday, August 13, 2007". Now of course the end user wants to sort the output by date (previously events were entered in date order so that retrieving alread had things in order). The web page that hits the database is written in VB Script under ASP. I'm looking for a function that can sort these dates either within the SQL query or afterwards in VB Script. I could kludge something together, but I'd prefer something elegant.

My current SQL query:

strSQL = "SELECT Event, EventDate FROM AcademicCalendar ORDER BY EventID;"

where EventDate is a text field (not a true SQL date field).

Thanks in advance!

A:Solved: Sorting text string as date in SQL/VBScript

I solved this one on my own. Probably far from the most elegant, but this is what I did:

The overall strategy is to pull the records from the database into a new array. That array consists of the fields I'm interested in plus an additional column that is a sortable date. That new date column has be be constructed from the text field in my database that contains a date as described in my original post. I use VBScript's regular expressions to extract the date portion of the text field then convert it to a useable date using CDate. Then the whole array is sorted on the new CDate field before showing the results.

First, I query the database and retrieve the recordset into oRS. The recordset has a forward-only cursor so I use the method described here to count the records to set up my array size. Note the need to use the .MoveFirst method to move back to the beginning of the record set.

The key to sorting is the function at the end (QuickSort). That function was "borrowed" from here.
Code:

<%
Dim regEx, strMatchDate, arrResults()
arrTemp = oRS.GetRows()
intRecordCount = UBound(arrTemp,2)
oRS.MoveFirst
ReDim arrResults(intRecordCount,4) ' I have 4 field to display
Set regEx = New RegExp
With regEx
.Global = False
.IgnoreCase = True
.Pattern = "[a-z]+\s[0-9]+,\s[0-9]{4}" ' matches on pattern Month Date, Year
End With
intCount = 0
Do While Not oRS.EOF
strDate = oRS("Dates")
arrResults(intCount,0) = strDate
arrResults(intCount,1) = oRS("Item")
' arrResults(intCount,2) will be the field I sort on... see below.
arrResults(intCount,3) = oRS("TermID")
arrResults(intCount,4) = oRS("Term")

Set strMatchDate = regEx.Execute(strDate)
For Each strMatch in strMatchDate
If IsDate(strMatch.Value) Then
arrResults(intCount,2) = CDate(strMatch.Value)
End If
Next
intCount = intCount + 1
oRS.MoveNext
Loop
Set regEx = Nothing
Set strMatchDate = Nothing
Call QuickSort(arrResults,0,intCount-1,2)
%>

From here it's just a matter of iterating through the sorted array and formattting the output.

Hope this helps someone.

I am trying to extract a date from a data cell within an Excel 2003 workbook.

The cell contains the data, "October 10, 2011 11:11:11 PM GMT-04:00" but I want only the date information and for it to convert to MM/DD/YYYY format. Basically, taking that cell and turning it into 10/10/2011.

I have about 500 entries with similar data and I am looking for the easiest way to extract the dates from the text. Mind you, the length of the Months (i.e., January vs. September), Date (i.e., 1 vs 11), and even time vary (1:00 vs 11:11).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Found the answer I was looking for:

Assuming the first cell is A1,

=TEXT(LEFT(A1,FIND(",",A1)+5), "mm/dd/yyy")

Copy down, then copy the column and paste values.

You can also use

=DATEVALUE(LEFT(A1,FIND(",", A1)+5))

then format the cell as mm/dd/yyy, then copy down.

When I use the formula below, it comes up as 8/15/03 1:40 instead of 10/01/2015 01:40.=DATE(MID(R72,1,4),MID(R72,5,2),MID(R72,7,2))+TIME(MID(R72,10,2),RIGHT(R72,2),0)Any help would be appreciated!message edited by rajasperson

A:Convert text string to Date and Time format in Excel

Try this:=DATE(MID(R72,5,4),LEFT(R72,2),MID(R72,3,2))+TIMEVALUE(RIGHT(R72,5))The syntax for the DATE() Function is: =DATE(Year , Month , Day)The Year starts at the 5th Character and is 4 Characters longFor the Month we get the First Two characters from the LEFT() side of the text string.For the Day we start at the 3rd Character and get 2 characters.MIKEhttp://www.skeptic.com/message edited by mmcconaghy

Hello,

I have a Windows 7 laptop and when I click on the date and time change through the clock on the bottom right or when I right click on the clock and pick date and time change, I get the timedate.cpl that opens in a text editor instead of the date and time change window.

The date and time change through the control panel works fine.

What is the problem and how do I fix it?

Thanks

A:Solved: Pivot multiple sheets for text, date and decimal fields

Hi there, welcome to the board!

I feel your frustration. Unfortunately your data structure isn't conducive for a PivotTable data model. But there is hope! You have some options here. First of all we need to know what version you're using. If you have 2010, well, you're going to really like what I'm about to tell you, and if you don't have it, it's a good reason to upgrade! 2010 has a new add-in called PowerPivot. Think of it as PivotTable's on bulk steroids. The benefit you would see - the ability to select multiple data sources. This means you can have multiple data tables/sheets as your data source, and select their relationships. Think of it like an Access table/relationship. It's the best feature we've seen in Excel since the PivotTable itself.

So if you have 2010, this is good news. However, if you don't have 2010, we need to consolidate your data to a single data structure. Whether that is putting it all on one sheet, or exporting to Access, or whatever, that's what needs to happen.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean about not getting the row level structure. Is there any way you can post the file?

Please help!

I cannot change the date or time on my computer. Everytime I try it says that I have to be an administrator to do it, even though I am the administrator, in fact I am the only user on the system!

I have tried going into the user accounts but it won't let me click on manage another account type, change account type, or even change account name.

Any help would be much appreciated.

As a side issue which might also be related, I cannot install windows updates and it won't let me click on 'ok' when I try to change the setting to allow all users to install updates.

Thanks for looking and please help if you can!

A:Can't change date or time!!

Okay, don't panic.

Are you logged into the Vista hidden Admin account, or the first account you created ?

In XP the first account is an admin account; however, in Vista the first account you create claism to be an admin account.

But it isn't. Its a user account with user access.

So, look in the tutorials in these forums for the Hidden Admin account.

Create it, then change the clock.

Note that only the hidden admin can chage account types or names.

Hello,

If I try to access Local Security Policy under admin tools I am alerted that there is a "group policy error" and I do not have permission. never used group policy and do not know what it is.

I also do not have privileges to run a system restore.

Finally, certain websites, such as gmail, are giving me an error that The server's security certificate is not yet valid!

All of these privileges are things that I was able to do yesterday.

Thanks for the help!

A:Unable to change date on computer

Well...why are you manually trying to change the date?

The date reflected on your Windows console...is actually taken from your BIOS clock. If your BIOS clock/date data is incorrect, it will cause problems within Windows.

I suggest that you enter the BIOS and check.

If the date/time are incorrect, it could indicate that your CMOS battery needs replacing.

I've been having this problem for about a month and a half. Every time i reboot my machine, the date and time get change. At first the month would get changed to january , and the time would change exactly 1 hour back of the real time. The day and year were fine. That was in october. Now that its november and the daylight saving took place. The time is fine, but the month still gets rolled back but February. It seems to go back 9 months from the current month for some reason.

I've ran Registry Mechanic, fixed all the probs that it found, but it didn't help this prob.
I've ran Anti virus' programs - nothing
I've ran Spyware removers - nothing

So I'm kinda out of ideas now and any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

Can someone edit messages in a chain of emails to make it look as if a message was sent when it wasn't?

I've received a chain of emails that have been sent back and forth from myself to someone else. Within this chain is a message that I can't find I ever received, but the other party has forwarded the chain in which this message is included.

A friend of mine has suggested that the other party my have forwarded the email to himself, added the message, sent it back to himself, and finally forwarded it to me, after deleting the final part of the email which shows where he forwarded to himself.

Does this make sense, and how can I check?

I would like to change date format to, e.g.,2014/01/12 or 20140112 at least for the command prompt screen.
It seems that this should be a simple item, but I cannot find out how to do it.
I would like to have it everywhere, but that might be too much.
The main reason is for sortability of copied lists, but it is also more readable.
We have used the 8 character format 20140112, and 20140112235959 for all of our data for decades.
Now we go to quadiseconds which is the limit of the double precision mantissa (irrelevant here).
The command prompt screen is relevant to me now.

A:I would like to change date format to, e.g.,2014/01/12 or 20140112

The option to change the format is to click on the date/time in the notification area (lower right), then click on change date/time. Then click on change calendar settings. You can change the format in the next panel that comes up.

I've hit a showstopper in Windows for which I have so far been unable to find a workaround I maintain my websites by duplicating all updated files in my local public html directory tree to a new location and then using FileZilla to date Copied files modified change upload only those files to the web server This has always been simple in WinXP - use WinZip to archive everything in the directory tree - open the archive sort by date and remove all older files - select and extract the remaining files to the new location Unfortunately the new version of WinZip seems to rely on the new quot feature quot of Windows that copying a file resets its Copied files change modified date modified date so this approach is no longer possible I don't see any way to force it to keep the original modified date of the file in the archive Things I've tried so far to resolve my problem are - RoboCopy Does not seem to Copied files change modified date have any way to filter files to be copied by date - RichCopy Looks like it should work but the GUI selection of include exclude filters does Copied files change modified date not work Everything is copied regardless of the selection nor does that selection persist when you save the profile - -Zip Can't find any way to hide the directories and show only the files when browsing the archive Deleting the older files does not remove the no longer used directories I can't see how to get the files to extract using their internal relative paths -- the dialog box mentioned in the help file does not come up on this machine - WinRAR Can't find any way to show the files in a flat view when browsing the archive in order to remove the older files At this point I'm working on a bash script to run under cygwin as a last resort Can anyone point me to something that is workable for this task Thanks for the help

Hi, as above - the date changes randomly, sometimes backwards, sometimes forwards, for a day, two, five... A few weeks ago I had this problem with changing time, but now it seems to be ok, it's just the date now. I did set the clock properly, update with the Windows server etc. The computer is just 2 months old. It's Asus, if it matters. I couldn't find any answer in the net, please HELP!!

A:Random date/time change in Windows 7

Hello Asia, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You might double check what time is set in your BIOS, and if you have the correct time zone with the proper daylight savings time option selected in Windows 7. If these are not correct, then it could cause issues with the time.

Hope this may help some,
Shawn

I'm getting syntax error (missing operator) in the strings. Any ideas?

A:Solved: Access date format change

You do need VBA to do this, you can use either an Update query where you split up the incorrectly formatted date and put it back together with the correct "/" in place or you can just use a simple replace Query to replace the ":" with "/".

Hello This is my first thread here
I was wondering if anybody could please help me, I have a lot of photographs stored on my laptop...which is running Windows 7....and I'm trying to sort them into folders (I have a LOT of photographs). I'm still only learning how funky Windows 7 is but have now come across some problem. When-ever I ask Windows to group by date (even group by date modified...etc) it doesn't actually show the date at the top of each group.

Whatever version of Win I had before always put the actual date as the name of each group...it was VERY helpful.....is there any tweak or box to click (or even some sneaky hack) that would fix this so it would give the date? Ty

Hello Roma, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Please update your system specs so we may be able to better help with your specific hardware.

System Info - See Your System Specs

For now, it seems that you motherboard CMOS battery may be dead or close to it, and needs replacing. In addition, double check your BIOS CMOS time and date to make sure it's correct. Next, double check your time zone and date & time settings in Windows to make sure they are correct.

Hope this helps for now,

I've searched the internet and here and can't seem to find a simple explanation for what action changes the date that explorer attributes as the folder's date for an NTFS drive?

Reason: I would like the folder date to represent the latest date of the latest file date in the folder.

If there isn't a way within Win7 to stipulate/change this is there a util that will force explorer to act in this manner (I don't want an alternative explorer app if that's what it takes)?

Thanks,

Mark

A:What triggers an NTFS's folder date change?

In my experience the only thing that will change the date stamp on a folder (other than explicitly by some utility) is a change to the folder itself. That means the creation of a new or the renaming or deletion of an existing file or subfolder. Modifying file contents does not qualify. Such changes do not ripple up to higher level folders.

The behavior is what it is. I don't believe there is any supported way of changing this. It could be changed with third party software but I am not aware of any.

My pivot graph X axis won't change it's date format. I've tried changing the raw data format, data format in the pivot table but when I try to change the graph data format it will not change. I looked the date choices and it seems like no matter what I do the pivot table will not change the date format! HELP!

The pivot date is suck in format
Saturday, July 07, 2007

I want it to be
07/07/2007 or anything but what is above!

A:Pivot Graph won't change Date Format

Click on a cell in your original data and see what it says in the formula bar at the top. Even though a cell reads, for instance, Sunday, July 01, 2007, if it is just formatting, it should read 7/1/2007 in the formula bar. If it does not (and I suspect yours will not), then the problem needs to be addressed there, in the original data. A pivot table graph takes the data that is there and displays that.
If that proves to be the case, do the following (this assumes your dates are in column A).
Highlight your column of dates, go to data, Text to columns, Delimited, put a check in commas.(BEWARE!! Text to columns will write over any other data, and this will write to 3 columns, so insert blank columns - extras don't usually hurt - after your dates and before any other data)!!!
The data will split out as Saturday|July 07| 2007 (where | indicates a new cell). Insert a new column between July 07 and 2007. Highlight the column with July 07 in it and go to data, Text to columns, delimited by spaces. Now you will have your data in 4 columns - day, month, day and year. Delete the column with the day (if you can) so the data is in columns A-C.
In the 4th column over (D, I am assuming), enter the following formula:
=CONCATENATE(A1," 0",B1,", ",C1) and drag it down next to your date columns.
(If you can't delete the days, it would be B1, C1, and D1, etc.) This will give you data that looks like July 01, 2007. In the next column over, enter this formula:
=DATEVALUE(D1) and drag it down next to your concatenate column.
Now you will have a column that has the apparent value 39264 for the date July 01, 2007.
Copy this column and Paste Special - values. This will give you the values in those cells, rather than the formulas. These numbers are how Excel deals with dates.You can format them how you want, but it will make no difference to the Pivot chart - the dates there will show as 7/1/2007!

For the past week or so my date display has changed, and I think it has to do with XP rather than individual programs because it's changed in two programs, Microsoft Money and Outlook Express. Hi there

I notice apart from Opera they are games, if you are anything like me i tend to install in the following order.

1) Windows (of course)
2) Updates
3) Most used programs (like office and Photoshop perhaps)
4) Games and other less important programs

I find doing a full install often takes me a full day and over the midnight mark making some programs look as if they were installed the following day, have you done this ?
Also is.. or was your PC clock set correctly ?

Recently my system just began erratic behaviour with constantly changing its date from current calendar date to 2002. There was this suggestion to change tyhe CMOS battery. That has been done but the date change is still persistent.

One interesting thing is that when you type regedit in the run box, it displays the sounds and audio devices properties dialog box. If you try running symantec antivirus client, it displays the same dialog box. Sometimes when you doubleclick to open my computer icon, the sounds and audio devices properties dialog box will open. If you shut down the system and set the date back to current date through setup, as soon as the system is powered back, the date changes back to 2002 with the sounds and audio devices properties dialog box poping up.

Could this be a virus or malware problem?
Attached are the DDS.txt, Attach.txt and gmer.txt files.

Thanks for your urgent response.

Date created vs. date modified? - Yahoo! Answers

Quote:

Date created is the date the file was actually created on your system; date modified is the last date on which the contents of the file changed.

Some programs change or preserve these dates, so they may have different meanings. For example, if you copy files from one drive to another while holding Ctrl, the copies will show the current date as the last modified date; but if you press Shift instead, they will be moved and will contain the same modified date as the source files.

For something you download, the create and modified dates will typically be the date of the download.

With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal.

Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement.

ComboFix will now automatically install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console onto your computer, which will show up as a new option when booting up your computer. Do not select the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console option when you start your computer unless requested to by a helper.

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see a message that says:

The Recovery Console was successfully installed.

Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.
Your desktop may go blank. This is normal. It will return when ComboFix is done. ComboFix may reboot your machine. This is normal.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall.

Hi Friends

I can't able to change my systems date and time. But i can change date and time through the domain user (windows server 2008 user). I need solution for this issue.

A:Unable to change date and time in windows 7

Maybe it's because you're not an admin? Usually administrators only have the privilege to change the date and time.

Hello For the past two weeks my computer has been changing the date or time by itself The date and time can be different not shut date/time down, Computer does change the next time I would turn the computer on or the date time would change while the computer was on I have not noticed the date time changing when I start up something like the internet it just happens out of nowhere I know this may not help much but the date time doesn t change drastically For example on this past Sunday at about am the computer time read that it was Sunday December th am Whenever this would happen I would just readjust the date time on the Date amp Time tab in the Date and Time Properties I did not think to look at Time Zones and Internet Time Computer does not shut down, date/time change then Another problem I have is Computer does not shut down, date/time change that while shutting down my computer sometimes my computer restarts instead Sometimes I see a blue screen when this happens I cannot read the blue screen message as the screen disappears very quickly I tried looking for the blue screen message in the event viewer but it is not there I do not know if these two problems are related to one another I read that the random time date changes can be caused by a dying motherboard Computer does not shut down, date/time change battery I asked some members of my family to check this and they said that the battery is fine so the problem must be a virus If anyone could guide me to check this again if needed I would greatly appreciate it I fixed the time by going to the date and time properties I found out that my time zone was changed so I fixed that Also I went to Internet Time and synchronized the time with the time server I read somewhere that the date time change problem can be solved by choosing not to synchronize time by un-checking the box Automatically synchronize with an Internet time server but I did not want to attempt this as I was unsure about doing this The date and time have not changed again yet but I am still concerned with that issue and the issue with the restarts I am running Windows XP Professional Version Service Pack I also ran virus scans using Kapersky Internet Security and the ESET Online Scanner Both scans did not detect any infected files Thank you in advance

Hello, we can take a look for malware.. Sometimes the clock issues is a failing motherboard battery in older PC'sMiniToolBoxPlease download MiniToolBox, save it to your desktop and run it.Checkmark the following checkboxes:Flush DNSReport IE Proxy SettingsReset IE Proxy SettingsReport FF Proxy SettingsReset FF Proxy SettingsList content of HostsList IP configurationList Winsock EntriesList last 10 Event Viewer logList Installed ProgramsList Users, Partitions and Memory size.Click Go and post the result (Result.txt). Click on change parameters-Select TDLFS file system Click on "Scan".Please post the LOG report(log file should be in your C drive) Do not change the default options on scan results.>>>>Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.Important!! When you save the mbam-setup file, rename it to something random (such as 123abc.exe) before beginning the download.Malwarebytes may "make changes to your registry" as part of its disinfection routine. If using other security programs that detect registry changes (ie Spybot's Teatimer), they may interfere or alert you. Temporarily disable such programs or permit them to allow the changes.Make sure you are connected to the Internet and double-click on the renamed file to install the application.When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.Malwarebytes will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan.If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button and continue.If you cannot update Malwarebytes or use the Internet to download any files to the infected computer, manually update the database by following the instructions in FAQ Section A: 4. Be sure to post the complete log to include the top portion which shows the database version and your operating system.Exit Malwarebytes when done.Note: If Malwarebytes encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be asked to reboot your computer so it can proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot normally will prevent Malwarebytes from removing all the malware.-- Some types of malware will target Malwarebytes and other security tools to keep them from running properly. If that's the case, use Malwarebytes Chameleon and follow the onscreen instructions. The Chameleon folder can be accessed by opening the program folder for Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (normally C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware or C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware).Lastly ... I had 8.1 installed, and did the update from 8/12/2014 and now I can't change my date and time from the desktop, it gives me the following message;

You are attempting to open a file type of 'System file' (.cpl)

These files are used by the operating system and by various programs. Modifying or editing them could damage your system.

So what do I use to open and run it?

Windows 8.1 is becoming a real hassle to deal with

A:Can't change date and time from desktop since 8.1.2 update

I just tried this and the date changed OK. Strangely though immediately I got a notification in Action Centre saying "Click here to enter your most recent password (important)". Clicking on the link just took me to the "My Accounts" in "PC Settings" section of the modern UI with nowhere to enter password. Odd.

You using a microsoft account? Are you part of the administrators group? Have you changed UAC settings?
As a matter of interest do you not automatically update the date and time?

I'm using ms office 2003 excel. I have a column date that is in a format of 20100410 and I would like to convert it to April 10, 2010. Any ideas?

A:Solved: change date format in excel

If the column is actually a date (not text) then highlight the column and go to Format, Cells. Select the Number tab and then click on the Date format. A list of formatting options will appear and you should find what you want.
If it doesn't work, do the same thing and select Number. If you actually have dates typed in, then 20100410 would show as 40278.00 - if it is text, it will show as 20100410.00.

Hi All

I'm trying to save a selected range of the excel spreadsheet as .csv file with a macro, all works fine but the dates are converted to a number eg 4/4/2004 becomes 38081.

the code i'm using is:

Const Folder As String = "C:\Clients\test"
Dim FileName As String
Dim LastCell As String
FileName = Folder
ThisWorkbook.Worksheets("test1").Range("A1:k500").Copy
Workbooks.Add
ActiveCell.PasteSpecial (xlValues)
Application.DisplayAlerts = False
ActiveWorkbook.SaveAs FileName:=FileName, FileFormat:=xlCSV
ActiveWorkbook.Close Savechanges:=False
Application.DisplayAlerts = False

Anybody knows a workaround?

Thanks
Nick
