Male 4 pin to female 3 pin fan adapter

Q: Male 4 pin to female 3 pin fan adapter

Hey guys. On my raid, I have two 120mm fans that are four pin females. I want to control them on my cooler-masters fan controller. In order to do this, I will need to convert the pins to three pin.

The most cost efficient way is to have the splitter first then the converter. Two cables instead of Three.

The problem I am having is that I cannot for the life of me find a male four pin to a three pin female connector.

Amazon and Ebay has failed me. (only offers 4 pin molex to three pin. Not what I need.)

Where do I find one of these cables?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

If you are connecting them to a fan controller the fourth pin does not matter so much.

Its a PWM pin that allows your motherboard to control the speed of the fan. Since you will not be using the motherboard headers you will not need it. You can just offset the connector in the socket.

What model is your fan controller?

Something like this but with a thin male connector. I need it to connect flash drives to a usb port where there's little space available around the usb port because the ports around are busy (happens in MacBook air for example).

Here again since I have the most weird problem ever which I have never seen nor heard of before. I recently upgraded the OS on a friends computer, from Vista to 7. However now I can't seem to get the onboard ethernet adapter to work, it can't be seen in device manager nor anywhere else. I have tried to reset the bios (by removing the cmos battery) and I have also checked that the network adapter is set to 'Enabled'. Also, when I connect the cable to the ethernet port no lights go on, it doesn't give any sort of hope what so ever. The cable is ok, the "modem" is ok, and everything else seems to be in order and yet it doesn't work.

Computer in question:
HP Pavilion 6530sc
Non-default GPU and added 1Gb RAM

A:Solved: Computer doesn't recognize the network adapter

Whenever you install a new OS, always take note of the model of core system hardware like GPU, chipset, and ethernet/wifi (there are a few others that aren't as important, but nice to have updated) since those are critical to your computers core functionality.

However, a quick google search of your model yielded me with your PC's system specs. Your PC contains a Realtek RTL8201N ethernet adapter. So far I am unable to find a driver from Realtek itself and the HP driver is not Realtek, but instead nVidia nForce.

So after a bit of searching, I came across this: it seems to me that you have an old chipset from nVidia. I am not completely sure, but I think you have an ION chipset. Try installing this ION chipset driver (64 bit) ==OR== this ION chipset driver (32 bit) and tell me if it works. It should include the necessary component drivers and if it works, it means you have an ION chipset like I suspected.

Here are the specifications for your PC BTW.

I have a HP 650 notebook that is in ok condition with Windows 8 OS. It uses a Ralink 3290 wireless adapter for my wi-fi needs. For the past three months, my adapter has been vanishing! I look at the indicator in my bar, and it shows no device available. I open up the Network and sharing Center and select the change adapter settings, and the only thing showing is an ethernet connection that I don't use. I can sometimes get the adapter to return by using the find and fix devices option on the search menu, but sometimes even that doesn't work. I've even been getting the "This device cannot find enough free resources (code 12)" message for the Ralink PCIe from the troubleshooter. while I did see an article on this elsewhere, I had some trouble understanding it. Can anyone help me figure out why this is happening to my laptop? Thanks for any help you can provide.

I recently bought a powerline adapter to combat my slow wireless speeds and planned on using it for my PC and XBOX 360 when I occasionally use it. The PC install was easy, it was plug and play no problems just installed the latest MSI ethernet drivers and BAM! Wired network, no problem, but today I come home and I felt like playing some GTA Online, so I unplugged the cable from my PC and into the XBOX and it can't connect. I am using a TP-Link AV500 Nano powerline adapter and a BT Home Hub 4 router. I also made a quick video to demonstrate my problem. As mentioned in the video I can use the internet just fine on my PC, the only problem is with the XBOX. Thanks again -hopgop1 NOTE: Video uploaded to YouTube as for some reason TechSpot doesn't support .3GP so I converted it to .MP4 and it doesn't support that either =[ link

INPUT - 100-240V- 50/60 Hz 0.7 A (0.7 A)
OUTPUT - 12 V --- 2.0 A (2.0 A)

and the one im looking at on ebay is

OUTPUT - 12 V --- 2.5 A

The seller claims it will work fine.. Is this true... Thank you

Hi everyone

I have HP dv7 2015tx running windows 7 (64bit) and I have serious problem with wifi connectivity. in last few months the wifi connection started to malfunction and randomly detect and connect to hotspots. and then it stopped working completely after a while. I tried:

-reinstalling, upgrading .... the wireless driver
-using wifi dongle
-replacing the wifi card with a new one
-.....
and I found these can not help me in this issue. the same thing happened to my blutooth connectivity last year and after I reinstalled the windows it was all fixed. but this time im not planning to reinstall the windows again.
So in my point of view this problem might be fixed if I fix the way windows is detecting any wifi access !! is there any file missing in windows related to this ?!!

Please help me in this matter

Basically my computer internet keeps continually dying and I have to restart it [computer] to get it working again. Every other computer's wifi connection is fine except mine. I troubleshooted and I got this message:

I then went into my device manager and it said there also that my wifi adapter was not working properly.
Curious what could be causing this? Is my wifi going bad? Virus? I stayed at a hotel and connected to their unsecure wifi two nights ago if that means anything. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks!

And on a side note, I started to get this message at least two months ago every time I turned my computer on. Not sure if it's related but:

Is there some kind of adapter I could install into my desktop to install a Proxim ORiNOCO IEEE 802.11b/g PC Card? Model: 8470-WD

Something like a pcmcia adapter? I'd get a wireless adapter that can do b/g/n or g/n instead. That way, if you upgrade your router to a faster model, you would still be able to use the adapter. If you're going w/ the pcmcia adapter, check the vendor's site to see if they have driver for your OS. The one I linked doesn't say support for Win7, if that's what you use.

HI, Ive been tring to fix someones computer over the past week, and have ran into countless issues with it lol.

recently someone on this forum help me clean the malware off of it (we are still in the process of cleaning it up) and I noticed that the network adapter continually disables itself. I have only been able to observe this change if I let the pc sit for over 5-10 minutes, then when I come back, the internet has been severed, and I asm unable to reconnect. The only way I am able to reconnect is through a full reboot.

I tried modifying the services under regedit to automatically restart if the service is stop for some reason.

Hi All,

Recently my roommate moved out and I had to get my own internet service. Prior to the change my D-Link DWA-125 was working fine. After the change I can see the network; however, I couldn't connect. I decided to re-installed the driver and now it's not picking up any network. All other wireless devices are connected. So it's not the signal. The driver is updated.

Also I tried installing another wireless usb adapter and it's the same result. While installing the driver I would get a message saying I aborted the installation and the adapter can not be found. I can see it in the "device manager". Could it be a firewall or virus program preventing it?

Your help will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Please uninstall all the drivers and if they don't successfully uninstall all the way I recommend you downloading something called Driver Fusion from the following site: http://treexy.com/products/driver-fusion

and it will completely wipe all traces of the wireless adapters and then you will need to re-install the latest versions of the adapter drivers and see if that helps.

I have a S-video cable with 4 female ports on other side..
I know that it is used to connect TV to PC .
But i have got a new set top box for my TV that box only have audio and video composite cables to connect/...
so i was wondering if i could connect it to my PC then i could play and record TV on my PC.by connecting composite cables to my S-video cable's female ports.
give me an idea if i could connect it or not....and why if not?

A:Use of my 4 female pin S-video cable

Very unlikely that you can do that right now. Mainly because its doubtful you have a card that can take video input. Then also, because if your box doesn't have s-video, you can't use that cable.

Traditionally you'd need a TV tuner card, but since you are going from a TV box to a computer, you don't really need the tuner part, you just need something that can handle the input. If you have a desktop PC you can get a PCI card. If you don't, or just want it more portable there are several USB devices that will work. This should get you pointed in the right direction: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicat...y_slc.asp?CatId=1428&name=USB Capture Devices

My wife wants to run her hair straightener (flat iron) in the car during long trips.
Can this item pull too much juice and harm the car or battery?

A:DC to AC car adapter, can you pull too much juice?

It would depend on the power rating (wattage) of the straightener - if you pull more than about 130 - 150W through the average car wiring, either the fuse blows or the insulation starts melting/burning! (also I would suggest not running anything mightier than 100W for more than 10 minutes per session, then cooling it off a bit).
I trust that your wife won't be driving? ;-)

Good afternoon and thanks in advance Last week during a weird power surge in my house my PC started having difficulties and eventually with no warning the BIOS apparently reset itself to factory defaults So for about a week I was working through figuring out a Operating system is missing error However after finally getting missing Network adapter my BIOS set back up and realizing it switched me back to IDE from RAID I got the machine working and everything seemed to be ok except now I cannot connect to the internet When I go into device manager the only Network adapter missing two Network adapters listed are the ones that were created when i installed vmware software last year Prior to the BIOS issue I had no issues what so ever connecting to my home network and even trying to install Legacy devices doesn t bring up the Realtek network adapter the MoBo came with Any Network adapter missing suggestions Long story short After my computer being out of comission for a week after getting it back on my network adapter is missing and I cannot connect to the internet Thanks nbsp

A:Network adapter missing

Try restoring default bios settings then reconfigure your raid. Or disable the net adapter at the bios then boot windows, then reenable it at bios, again check device manager.

Can anybody answer the following questions about a laptop power adapter?

Is there a maximum length for the dc cord? In other words why do they locate the adapter 1/2 way down the cord instead of closer to the outlet.

Is the small cylinder around the cord about 3" before it enters the laptop some sort of choke/filter?

Thanks.

There is no particular reason for this, either side of the power supply could be lengthened or shortened.

Dell desktop has a dell USB wireless adapter. System worked fine a week ago and now all of a sudden won't connect to the network.
Doesn't even attempt to get an IP.

It can see the networks in the area but can never connect. Repair doesn't work, reset TCP/IP stack didn't work. Uninstall and re-install adapter didn't work. Updated driver didn't work.

System is running XP SP3.

All the other systems in the house work fine. Router is provided by Comcast and uses WPA2.

I have an old HP NC6000 which I installed Windows 7 on. I can not get the SD card slot to work. At first it wouldn't see anything when I put a card in. After installing and un- installing several drivers from HP and Microsoft, now when I put a card in it shows up as being able to eject it If I want to. It does not show up in my computer as removable storage or any thing. I noticed in devise manager there is no SD host adapter listed. There is not even a heading for SD host adapter. The card works on my other laptop which is an NC6400. Do I need to install An SD host adapter?

There should be a Fn key that will activate the external display. Look carefully at the top row of keys for a symbol that looks like a monitor screen. Press the Fn and that key at the same time

Hi guys, im having a huge headache due to my wireless not working.
My old adaptor broke so i hooked up wired until my new one arrived today.
It is just a belkin basic adaptor, and i installed it correctly, however it is picking up no connections at all. I tried it in my wifes PC and it works straight away picking up 6 connections.

I can see it in the network adaptors next to my LAN, it says its working. No conflicts in device manager either.

Here is a screenshot of what i am getting...

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s150/gibsonstu/network.jpg

If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated

A:Wireless USB adapter not picking up connections

running (or leaving enabled) both wired and wireless frequently causes problems,
so if you're committed to WiFi, disable the wired NIC in the device manager.

you're also running IPv6, so must be on Vista or Win/7. Configurations are
easiest to manage if you disable IPv6.

Use Google and search for "disable IPv6" and follow the instructions for your system {Vista, Win/7} and disable ALL IPv6.

Reboot and try again.

You can always use one of these PCI SATA adapter cards: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...ESTMATCH&N=-1&isNodeId=1&Description=pci+sata

A computer as old as you're describing will likely have an old type standard PCI slot, and NOT a PCI-E (PCI express). be certain to verify which slot you have, before you make a purchase. These are two entirely different interfaces, which are not interchangeable.

Hi guys!

Recently, my laptop (Compaq Presario CQ50) battery passed away and unfortunately, the day after, the same thing happened to my AC adapter. Actually, the adapter itself works perfectly, except for the socket inside the laptop.

It seems this part is loose and no power can now reach my laptop. I don't care running my laptop only plugged to the wall outlet since I'm using it only in the living room. It's old and the replacement battery is quite expensive (I could not charge the battery without a working ac adapter anyways).

I was wondering if it was possible to buy only the socket and also how to replace it?

Thank you!

Hi First let me tell you that I did try to research this problem before posting this I have a HP Pavilion Slimline s w this is probably important It came factory with W and did not include any driver discs I recently purchased Win XP and installed it to a separate HDD My plan is to dual-boot win and XP on two different HDDs if you consider that a dual-boot This seemed XP Fresh installed, the help adapter work need to getting network to work until I found out I cannot connect to the internet with xp I looked on this site for people with similar problems and I came to the conclusion that I need to install the factory driver for my network adapter This is because I dont get the network access icon at the bottom Fresh XP installed, need help getting the network adapter to work and it wont allow me to set-up a connection Going into the device manager there is a network adapter but I dont think it even works So taking the advice I found on this site I attempted to download the driver for this PC from the HP website They dont even have a driver that supports XP for this Fresh XP installed, need help getting the network adapter to work POS The network adapter is fine Im on the same PC right now just on my Win OS HDD The connection is great the hardware is great my modem is fine and my router is spiffy It is obviously a problem with XP So assuming my driver is the problem is it possible i can still connect to the internet if the driver doesnt even support xp If you think this isnt the problem or if you have any suggestions for me please let me know nbsp

If you look under Device Manager when on Win 7 you should be able to get the name of the wireless card. And then do a search for XP drivers for that device. You will also need the chipset drivers for the motherboard for XP, those should be available from the manufacturer's site.

It might be already damaged when you are trying to re-use it.

Did you check the health status of the hard drive? You might be able to check them, using the third party, such as HDD Health.

I have been using this handy tool on few of my older hard drives in my rigs. Just remember to run it as administrator, else it'll not be able to communicate with your hard drive(s).

You might also want to google on files recovery programs too, as there's a few easter eggs out there.

So i have an hp pavilion tx 2500 tablet with a ati hd 3200 graphics card
every time i start the laptop i would get to the desktop and then it would go black.
So i went in in safe mode and worked fine so i knew it had to do with the drivers so i disabled the display adapter in the device manager and restarted and it worked.
When i went to re install the drivers it did the same thing.
I used a latter driver and it worked for 2 days and then black screen when i use an older driver it last a few days when i use the new updated drivers it goes black if i leave it disabled it will run for ever do you think it is my card itself.Which would really suck since i would have to buy anew comp instead of dishing out 400 on a mobo

A:Have to disable display adapter or I get black screen

I think your card is probably OK or you would have a constant black screen. Did you uninstall the card in device manager before you installed a new driver?

Follow this guide to remove any redundant drivers from the system, uninstall the graphics drivers in Device Manager and then install the new driver. Did you get the driver from the manufacturers site? if not then go there for the latest driver.

A:Wireless Network adapter disconnects then cant find networks help!

How is your signal strength? If you haven't already, you could try using a 3 foot USB extension so you can move the dongle to a more favorable reception position. If that doesn't help, just get a new one. I use one of these for one of my PCs and they seem to tend to fail after awhile.

I'm using a Rosewill USB adapter now and that one has been the most reliable so far.

Yes that's the issue; that address will not exit your LAN and it is the DHCP failure that generated this address.

Verify that both ends of the Powerline Adapter work locally.

Try taking the battery out of the laptop and powering the laptop on (with the AC adapter plugged in obviously). Another option for recovering the files would be to get an adapter to connect the laptop drive to a usb port on another pc.

It's a mini itx, and got good reviews, and it's 250 watts. Also newegg is a great company i use them all the time for electronics.

Hello again, guys.

The computer we built is running in tip-top shape except for one problem that just started popping up. Whenever I start the computer it will say it is connected to home and an "unidentified network" but will completely cut-off my access to the internet.

I'd do some troubleshooting of my own and I'd find that the network adapter was disabled and the issue wouldn't get fixed until I disabled said "unidentified network" and enabled the adapter.

After that it doesn't bother me much, but I really wish it would stop doing that.

hi guys,

i have installed a usb wireless adapter to my desktop. from that moment the wireless network icon will appear and disappear at the task bar. if i check the device management and take the property of the wireless adapter first it will show "the device is working properly" , then " there is no driver installed for this device"... this is happening in seconds. the wireless adapter realtek rtl8197 made by alfa. i tried with another adapter which is also showing the same thing.

my system is amd sempron3000, with 1gb memory. operating system is windows xp. what could be the problem? xp or board.

A:Weird problem with wireless adapter

Try removing the USB adapter. Uninstall the adapter driver/software bundle. Restart the PC. Install the USB adapter driver/software bundle BEFORE plugging in the USB adapter. After installing the driver, then insert the USB adapter. Let Windows find the adapter and install the driver to it. See if that helps.

I have purchased a Belkin Surf&Share wireless usb adapter. It worked for awhile but all of a sudden it wont let me connect to the wireless internet. I am using the adapter on my desktop that has windows XP and connecting to a neighbors internet. when i open the connection it either says it has security or when i click connect it just says "identifying network type" for hours and hours. i know that the connection is not security enabled because i am using it on my lap top right now to type this. please help me.

A:Belkin wirelss adapter problems

If still under warranty, or a purchase agreement, return it for a replacement...
Otherwise, you will be fixing it over and over until you trash it...
Alternately, you should try a quick fix, but totally removing the Belkin Software, using a registry editor if necessary to get all of the old install removed.
Then reboot, and reinstall.
Some folks on TechSpot love Belkin... But we find theire are sometimes differences from model to model, and from which part of which country they are purchased.
Belkin does not manufacture these units, as I understand their system, but has them built and packaged under contract. And the ones we get in for repair vary a lot.
If you can trade it for another brand, from where you purchased it, you might be able to expect better luck.

Wasn t sure where this would follow under category so since it regards my video card I ll ask here Ok here is my situation I got my video card a very nice one that fits in the PIC-E slot on my new build now after dealing with the front panel connectors which at first were confusing been a very long time since i had to do that stuff I tried to turn it on and well the fans spun for about - seconds and stopped So i tried different ideas from friends and nothing and then realized the PCI-E cable form the PSU was not plugged into the motherboard well that is where my problem for Need some looking adapter a PCI-E help seems to be The motherboard has a typical pin Pci-e connector well the cable from Need some help looking for a PCI-E adapter the power supply is a pin So I need to find from what i gathered from a friend an adapter for the pin to convert it to a Now I looked on newegg and they only oddly had one shown and the reviews were not that good most saying the cable was not the right cable So with that in mind anyone know a place to get an adapter I as well as my friends who helped save for one found it odd that the cable is a pin For further help to anyone who reads here is teh key components in this matter Motherboard is a Nforce m-A Video card is a EVGA Nvidia Geforce Gt with gb o f ram DDR Pci-e PSU is a Ultra watt ATX Also all items are under warranty but from what i was told it should not matter I should be able to get a adapter to use all this nbsp

A:Need some help looking for a PCI-E adapter

That 4 pin connector on the motherboard is not a PCI-E power connector, rather, it is a 4 pin ATX 12V that helps power the CPU. PCI-E power connectors are either 6 pin or 8 pin (or 6 + 2) and are intended to be connected to a graphics card, not the motherboard.

All modern ATX PSUs should have a 4 pin ATX 12V connector. Some have an 8 pin ATX 12V connector that, in reality, is two 4 pin connectors stuck together. Double check and see if you can find the 4 pin connector. It might even be labeled as ATX 12V. It has to be there.

I have a Dell Inspiron 9100. I have checked the adapter/charger and it is putting out he correct 19V.

However, the LED lights on the battery do not indicate anything. After charging for 10 hours, I push the power button and nothing happens....no screen activity, whirling, noise, etc.

I have tried starting with adapter connected and not connnected.

Could a battery be so dead that the computer will not turn on?

Or is it the MB or bios?

Thanks.

I just installed Windows 7 64-bit from Vista(32 bit) and I'm having a bit of trouble getting my wireless network adapter up and running. The model number is WMP54GX from Linksys. I've googled the issue and most people have suggestions, but the problem is my computer isn't even registering the adapter. There is nothing under network adapter and under unidentified devices there is only "Ethernet Controller" "PCI Simple Communications Controller" and "Unknown Device". I tried searching for drivers online (connecter via an extremely long ethernet cable at the moment). Most people suggest using Ralink drivers and installing after an unknown "Network Adapter" shows up, but for me no even this is happening. Are one of the other options the network adapter?

Wireless setup....

You have a wireless modem/router? Do you have a wireless 'g' or 'n' card in PC? or a USB wireless adapter? Both of those will need to have software installed, but you will have got that on a cd included. But you have to do the setup with the Ethernet (CAT5e) connected first. When you have followed the instructions that came with the modem /router, you switch off PC, unplug Ethernet cable, switch on PC, and the Wireless adapter in PC will find ALL the wireless modem/routers in your area. You select yours from the list, and enter the password, you will be connected to your own modem after that.

I have installed Hamachi2 on my buddies computer with a OS - Windows 7 and Norton software. After the installation is complete I can see him in our network but can't access him. Through some investigation we found that the Hamachi2 adapter was not installed in the device manager or the network sharing screen. What is the process to get the adapter to install?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

9/13/10
We finally determined that the network connection adapter was corrupt. We uninstalled the adapter in the device manager and rebooted to let Windows 7 find it. When the system came up there was a error message trouble installing the adapter. We did a clean install of Windows 7 and both networks showed up in the device manager and the network and sharing screen, problem solved.

A:Wrong AC Adapter

Like you I have clients who bring broken equipment into the wksps for repair - and like you I get the clients who through stupidity or genuine error bring the solution to the problem with them!
Laptop PSU's vary enormously and I have always said that cheap replacement PSUs are a mistake - rarely do they shove out the required watts/volts/amps and more often than not do not overheat as well.
I suggest that what has happened here is that the client has lost the PSU, gone and bought a new one which broke the power management board in the laptop, brought it all to you and then found the original PSU.
Asus UK would not have repaired this - but then they are not a credit to Asus, who do make good kit!

I'm currently in the market to buy a new wireless router and adapter for my home network. As of right now I have a Linksys WRT110 router and a Linksys WMP54GS in the only wireless client on the network. This client serves for basic computing and gaming. The client only gets about a ~60% connection to the router at any given time when it's only around 50 feet away from the router with a wall separating the two. My apartment building is an old remodeled warehouse with alot of steel reinforcements and such, so that may be a reason for weak signal, I'm really not too sure. So I need a router/adapter that has good range and is solid for gaming in this kind of environment. Thanks in advance.

A:Buying new wireless router/adapter for gaming

is there any way to possibly hard-wire the setup? non-wireless LAN connections are the absolute best when it comes to gaming. just throwing that out there as CAT cable is relatively cheap (compared to some of the better routers) and doesn't depend on signal strength; is easy to run through walls and such. you would also be able to keep the current router configured in the network.

if you need to go wireless, the latest wireless-n technology is the way to go, but you'll need a wireless-n adapter to get full n speeds. in other words you can use b/g adapters with a wireless-n router but it will not operate at wireless-n speeds. i'm not typically fussy about wireless routers, but it depends on what your client is willing to spend and availability. most of the newer Linksys routers are fine.

This is the sound card I bought for my laptop (Dell Inspirion E1505; about 4 years old) since its internal sound card broke. Within 1 day, the USB broke. I don't understand why the manufacturers would decide to create removable plastic coverings over the metals and wires - the top plastic can easily come off, and it's happened before but I just stick it back together. The next day, I'm unable to hear audio play through my earphones/speaker via the USB. I got it for $13 + tax at a cheap chinese tech store. (I went to a different chinese tech store too but it sold the exact same thing for a higher price)

I don't understand what went wrong for the metals and wires for the whole USB to not work anymore. can I fix this?

A:Can I fix a broken USB 3D Sound card (audio/microphone adapter)?

Buy new ones. Cost is less for replacement than the cost of fixing. Look for better qualtiy. Consider doing a gurgle search or go to TigerDirect, com, Directron.com, Frys.com, TechSpot.com or any of the hundred other computer parts places... or, of course, eBay, or BestBuy

They build them cheap, so you can buy them cheaply... but better ones are commonly available.

CPU Fan filled with dirt, dust, or lint. Too much heat. Loose connector, a memory module that is not quite up to par... mismatched memory modules... Corrupted Windows or other files... the list can be a long one, and there is no one cause...
But running it withour a normally working full capacity battery isn't helping anything.
Might be time for a new clean install... then keep good WRITTEN notes as to what is going on when it happens.

The route and ALL pc's attached to it, must run in the same mode {a,b,g,n}.
Yes some allow multiple modes (ie AUTO) or G+N mode, but this typically causes loss
of connections.

Solution: Force the router into G-Only (or N-Only *IF* all the pcs have -N adaptors).

If any doubt, see if your router lets u backup its setttings. Then turn off all encryption in both the AP and adapter and see if they connect then (easiest way to prove it's an encryption issue )

A:My vga graphics adapter is missing

there are known issues with this laptop and Nvidia graphics processors installed on them. You need to take the laptop to someone capable of circuit board level repairs as in many cases the chip will have to be re-flowed.

It sounds like you are trying to connect DVI-D to DVI-I
Take a look at this wiki page and under "Connectors" you will see the various layouts.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1720 running Windows 7. Wireless adaptor is an intel Pro 3945ABG

The wireless adapter keeps switching itself off. This happens regularly - every 10 minutes - and I have to troubleshoot to reset the wireless adaptor.

I have disabled the power setting that allows the computer to switch wireless off to save power and I have (I think) reinstalled the right drivers.

The inspiron used to have a reset wireless switch on the left hand side, but this broke off almost immediately. Could it have worked itself into a problematic position and be causing the problem or is it another issue?

Grateful for any help.

A:Dell wireless adapter problem

please properly uninstall the drivers and then install them again... also try to connect another device to the wireless network and see if that disconnects, could be a router issue too

A:Linksys adapter for Windows 7 64-bit

I have never used the Linksys brand but I have used a couple of other brands of similar type USB wireless adapters. I've used one in a Windows 7 64 bit PC and a Windows XP Home 32 bit PC. In each case you are instructed to first install the driver and then plug in the USB adapter afterward. Did you follow this order? If not, uninstall the driver in Programs and Features and start over.

The wireless adaptor is B-mode (802.11b).
Unless it has other capabilities, it will only connect to a WiFi router which supports and is configured to support B-Mode. Many routers will support multiple modes;

What brand and model router are you using?

A:Standard VGA Graphics Adapter

What kind of games are you trying to play?

The laptop you have I think uses the NVIDIA GeForce Go 7150M Graphics Chipset. This onboard chipset will not enable you to play most modern day 3D games.

As to the Aero effects, these are the minimum system requirements:

1. a 1 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
2. 1 GB of system memory (512MB sometimes works)
3. a DirectX 9 compatible graphics processor with a Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM)driver, Pixel shader 2.0 in hardware, and a minimum of 128 MB of Video RAM
32 bits per pixel
4. 40 GB hard drive with 15 GB free space
5. DVD-ROM Drive
6. Audio output and Internet access (preferably broadband)

Here is a review on your IGP.
