Preferred Solution: Computer wont reset (Hard or Software)

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Computer wont reset (Hard or Software)

A strange problem indeed.

Triple check your wiring is correct using your motherboard manual. Be sure the motherboard is mounted correctly on the standoffs and no grounds are occurring.

Faulty buttons on the case itself?

Reset bios to optimal defaults, clear cmos.

After that I would return the mobo.

Sorry I cant be more specific, Hope this helps.

The computer that I am currently using has a problem a few days ago the screen was not working so I adjusted the graphics card inside the tower and it all started working again However a reset software Computer day later my mum turned it Computer software reset on and the PC seemed to reconfigure everything all the files are still there However all of the software seems to have reverted itself back a few years or when you try to open it it asks you to press a button saying start service shortly after the service will fail to open norton antivirus seems to be working but did not detect any viruses But the spyware doctor does not launch most likely it has been disabled or deleted But is there a way to revert your computer back a few days I know there is on windows vista as I have done it before but with XP It is also working very slowly which leads me to believe it has a virus internet pages load at good pace however scrolling is extremely slow

A:Computer software reset

Just took a look through the drives, all of the files are still there, however something happened with the configuration.. or something that has caused everything to not work, but every file is intact. I just don't know how to allow them to launch so if it's possible to go back to a point where it last worked can anybody tell me?

Thanks.

A:Got virus, reset computer, wont start

Can you order recovery disks from the manufacturer ?

EDIT--- After you get it fixed, it would be a good idea to get Macrium Reflect.

Either the free or paid Standard version & make system images so you can restore your computer that way.

I bought the paid version & consider the money well spent.

This is the problem I have: It won't let us access the local disk and says we don't have permission. I am the only user. It won't let us save anything on that disk either. I have gotten all of the documents, videos, and pictures backed up so that's not an issue. We are really just trying to reset the computer with a fresh start but it wont let us.

Okay so this is everything i've tried:

Resetting the computer- This wouldn't let me because it said it had an error. I did this by holding shift while restarting and then troubleshooting from there. I've tried the option of saving files and also whiping the whole computer, both ways won't work.

Booting in safe mode- it works but nothing has come out of doing anything in that mode.

What do I do? I've read multiple forums and nothing they suggest is possible. Suggestions?

A:No access to Disk and wont allow me to Reset the Computer.

OK, start by better defining no access and local disk. Is the disk the only hard disk in the computer or one of many? Is it local C: or D: or something else. Is it local internal or external via USB?

Are you logged onto the OS that is installed on the drive or is the OS operating from somewhere else (e.g. USB stick)?

Read is a form of access, can you do that? Write is another form, can you not do that? In what directories are you trying? What circumstances changed from when things last operated properly?

You could further expand your hardware profile for us.

Optional: You say you visited several forums, these wouldn't be Microsoft forums would they? Say that ain't so!

If this is permissions related, you might look at Brink's tutorials on taking ownership of your files.

Does anyone know what is going on and how to fix it? PLEASE HELPthanksbob

Hello, I have ran my computer through Recovery settings about 2 times and now everytime I try to do it. It says "reset computer to start" I do, a message pops up saying "Error: Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause."The thing is, the computer starts up perfectly any other time, but when I want to run the Factory reset. I am confused and would like some help

A:Computer wont let me reset it to factory condition

Welcome,
When you try to reset your computer to the original factory settings do you have a copy of them available to the computer as a reference? Like a backup or an image file or even the installation disks?
Thanks

My mother has Computer sometimes hard boot reset without won't an HP that runs Windows Vista Premium Home Its about - yrs old Two weeks ago the power went off for a few minutes when it was on Computer won't boot sometimes without hard reset or in sleep mode When she tried to turn it back on she could see the quot cd light quot blink once or twice the fans came on but no power I found the directions to unplug all the cords and hold the power button down to reset it Well it worked I then ran Malwarebytes and it did find one or two things but they were removed Today she called me to tell me the same thing happened But the power never went out She had it on and it must have gone into a sleep mode and Computer won't boot sometimes without hard reset nothing worked to bring it out She had to reset it again Does anyone know what would be causing this to happen I m wondering if its something I could easily fix myself or if we need to bring it to someone to be repaired

A:Computer won't boot sometimes without hard reset

Hello kat91119,Some people have been able to awaken the monitor when the computer is in "sleep" mode by pressing CTRL-ALT-DEL (not holding them) and then clicking cancel. You could try going through this troubleshooting guide: How to Troubleshoot a Vista or Windows 7 Sleep Mode Problem. You will note that they recommend updating the display drivers and the system bios, first. I wouldn't worry about the bios at this point but would check the computer manufacturer's web site to see if they have an "updated" display driver. How to determine the dispaly adapter name and version then go to manufacturer's website:First, click "Start" (the globe) and right mouse click on "Computer" and click "Properties."Select "Device Manager" then click on the (+) next to "Display Adapters." Write down the make and model number.Next, right mouse click on the Display Adapter and click "Properties," "Driver" tab, and write down driver date and driver version. Now you can go the computer manufacturer's web site (i.e. Dell, HP, Acer, etc.), look for "Download Drivers and Software" (may have to click on Support, first). Enter either "Tag number" or exact "make and model number." Select the computer operating system (Vista 32 or Vista 64).Look for your exact display adapter, note date and driver version. If newer, download and install. Finally, proceed with the troubleshooting guide.I hope it helps.

How to find and post your Minidump Files:

My Computer > C Drive > Windows Folder > Minidump Folder > Minidump Files.

It is these files that we need (not the folder). Attach to your next post the five most recent dumps. Notice the Manage Attachments button at the bottom when you go to post the next time. You can Zip up to five files per Zip; if you only have one or two you don?t need to zip them, just attach as is. Please do us a favor and don?t Zip each one individually.

Hi all I've been having this problem for quite some time now I would say a year or more where my computer completely freezes up without any prompting It's quite frustrating to diagnose since it happens on such a random basis -there seems to be no trend as to what kind of programs I have running what kind of things I am using it for etc Sometimes it happens when I'm just browsing the net other times it happens when I just have some files up ie not memory intensive tasks -today it even happened when I put a USB stick in I am at a complete loss as to what might be the cause I have already deleted some old programs that I'm not using but that hasn't seemed to have done anything I've done a disk cleanup and run a scan for viruses The freeze can only be resolved with a hard restart which I know is not good for the computer I've already had to do this some or so times already I've attached the event viewer taken computer reset requiring Random freeze hard about - minutes after the last freeze I had the one when it froze after I put my USB stick in Any help or advice at all would be much appreciated

Hello,

I am running two 7950s in crossfire on my computer. Anytime I launch a game, my computer just locks up and this hardcore buzzing sound playing right when it crashes, the sound continues while the computer is frozen.
This problem has happened in both Battlefield 3 and Splinter Cell Blacklist. I have enabled Crossfire and Crossfire for applications that have no associated profile. In GPUz, it says my cards are enabled for crossfire.

Any ideas on this? I'm wondering if it's my psu? If I disable crossfire, the games work, but the second gpu is at 0% utilization.

Here are my specs:
Windows 8 64bit
AMD 13.8 beta 2 drivers
ULPS is disabled via MSI Afterburner (and I did restart after)
CPU: 4670k
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z87x-UD5H
RAM: 16GB Gskill

Since the games work fine when you disable Cf it seems like it is a driver issue, try downloading the latest 13.10 Driver and see if it fixes your issue.

Originally I thought my issue was game or even driver specific but I ran into it again on a different game today so I figured I should ask on here So here goes My issue is that my computer will randomly freeze sometimes while playing games and its usually in locations that aren't really graphics intensive The three places it's happened so far are World of Warcraft multiple times several of those in the same area Arma only once and now Tom Clancy's The Division Open Beta twice in the same area I originally Computer - Hard Sound Requires Freezes Continues Reset - thought it was just an issue with World of Warcraft but then it happened on Arma and after a while it stopped happening altogether Just today I tried the Division Open Beta and it happened again I can still hear sound just Computer Freezes - Sound Continues - Requires Hard Reset fine which in and of itself isnt that strange a sound file could be really long and just continue to play while the computer is frozen but I can still hear people talking over VOIP too however unlike other similar issues that I've read about I cannot interact with the program at all Clicking pushing buttons etc do not produce any new sounds and the people on VOIP cannot hear me talking to them I cannot alt-tab ctrl alt del or really do anything I have to hard reboot What drives me insane is that no errors show up in Event Viewer or even in WhoCrashed so I have no idea what is causing it I have an Antec W PSU so I dont think it's a lack of power I've read around and didnt see anything that helped and the few threads I saw that were similar didn't sound like my issue Here's what Ive tried -Updating graphics drivers clean installation-Ccleaner-Checking Event Viewer nothing shows up there were event logs for Nvlddmkm crashes but the critical crashes produce no events except loss of power to the kernel when I hard reset -Turning off power save in the Ethernet adapter options-Benchmarking drives via Defraggler both turned up GOOD -Ran mdsched with passes returned no issues -Rolling back graphics driversIm running a GTX with GB RAM on an i k bit Windows I think the CPU has been factory overclocked from GHz to GHz since I get an error message saying overclocking failed whenever I hard reboot my computer Ive read people suggesting a mobo issue but really I'd like to see if there's anything else it could be since Im not really in a position to replace my mobo right now I can post dxdiag and msinfo reports if needed Thanks for your help

A:Computer Freezes - Sound Continues - Requires Hard Reset

I should note that turning all the settings down from High (auto-detected) to Medium kept me from crashing in that area, and turning down one of the settings on WoW has kept me from crashing since too, but why are graphics causing my whole computer to freeze? Especially on a GTX 770?

I have a Windows 8 tablet Acer Iconia W700(I5 Core) and i am trying to factory reset to the default settings again because of the stupid problems i am having on the tablet.
Here is the problem i am trying to get into the BIOS which is the 1 step on the Acer website but for some bizarre reason when it is completely off i press the Windows button and the power button to get in to the BIOS as it says on the Acer Website but it keeps going to the start menu/desktop now instead of going to the BIOS. :/
I have factory reset/hard reset on my Acer Iconia W700 a couple times and i never had this problem before, i gone in to the BIOS no problem!!!
Can someone help me please?? Thanks!!!

Hi there So in April I decided to go all in on an Alienware which I use for business and pleasure After a couple weeks I started noticing the computer would not wake from sleep - after on BSOD long reset Hard periods needed computer Invisible wake during extended times such as over night I would simply close the lid at night and open it in the morning where Invisible BSOD on computer wake after long periods - Hard reset needed the HDD light would come on and then the computer would be frozen in a state with a black screen before bootup where I am forced to hold the power button down to reset It would then tell me that the computer was Invisible BSOD on computer wake after long periods - Hard reset needed shut down incorrectly etc I finally had Dell tech support work on it who were absolutely fantastic at the time They went through all kinds of system setting changes including how the computer sleeps updated video and MANY other drivers including a reinstall of windows Problem persisted Next they sent a tech out to replace the Video cards problem persisted Next they replaced the HDD's motherboard and video cards again problem persisted They were completely stumped so they sent me a brand new system which is even better than the last one I had After a few days I noticed this system is doing the exact same thing I called tech support and the original guy is now in another department so I'm dealing with a new guy now who is starting from scratch again with this system I spoke with their manager as this guy wanted to reset the computer to factory again and he also suggested that they are sure that a reinstall of windows or an alien respawn they call it would solve my issue I tried to explain to them that this would be the third run of windows and I can't logically see why it is going to solve the issue now This is why I am now reaching out to this community This is a business computer as well so I don't really find it optimal to keep wiping it clean as I'm sure you can understand The strange thing is that times out of when I wake the computer in the morning it will be completely locked up and I have to hard reset so it doesn't do it all the time Even stranger is the fact that I have only managed to capture dump files that seem to be triggered from this event So for some reason it is not always creating a dump file but each and every time it says the computer was shut down incorrectly I look forward to anyone being able to shed some light on this as the entire team at Dell seems to be stumped Stevieb

A:Invisible BSOD on computer wake after long periods - Hard reset needed

Welcome to 7F.

Your dumps ared indicating a device driver as being the problem but none are showing.

Driver Verifier will stress your drivers and cause BSODs if any fail and will flag them up in the dump files. Follow this tutorial to enable/disable it. Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable

   Information
Enable Driver Verifier but only enable these options:
Standard settings and IRP logging step 3.
Don't enable Force Pending I/O Requests

   Warning
Make a System Restore point before enabling Driver Verifier.

   Note
Your system will act very sluggishly while DV is enabled, this is normal as your drivers will be being subjected to heavy testing in order to make them crash.

A:computer wont recognize cd for digital photo software

Need a little more information. Some people think their CD isn’t working if it doesn’t autorun when they insert it. The answer for that is to go to My Computer and directly access the CD. You normally install programs using Setup.EXE on the CD.

If the CD isn’t showing up in My Computer or Windows Explorer when you click on the drive I would guess you have to get Sharper Image to replace it. That assumes that other CDs are reading OK.

For the memory stick do you have a choice of file systems? Have you tried all of them?

I recommend that you download the VERSION that worked for you in the past. How? You can do that by clicking here and going to the approximate year and month you got a working version of Snoop Free from its web site then downloading and installing that version.

I personally tried opening a snapshot of the site from November 21, 2002 and was able to download a working installer of Snoop Free.

All of a sudden, my laptop stopped recognizing my hard drive. I usually thought harddrive crashes took a while, but apparently after looking at the BIOS, trying to reinstall windows (not being able to because of "no hard drive"), I realized that if my hard drive is bad, it happened overnight.. All the computer does is reboot reboot and reboot after turning it on.

Could it be a motherboard problem or more likely a bad hard drive. If it is a bad harddrive, is there a way to recover files on it, before it is replaced even though the computer wont recognize it.

I just purchased a new computer, along with a new 320GB hard-drive. I have also put the 80GB hard-drive from my old computer into the new one. I have connected it all correctly, and when I boot the computer, the hard-drives are visible in Device Manager and according to Device Manager, are working correctly. The problem is, The only hard-drive I can see in "My Computer" is the hard-drive with Windows installed on it. If the others ARE actually accessible, I have to idea how I can access them.

Thanks for your time,

Could anyone advise me on how to get it to show up?

Thanks

start > administrative tools > computer management > disk management.

if it shows up there, then you may need to establish a partition on the disk. right click, new partition.

I rebooted my XP this am and it would not restart. So, I ran the recovery program. Its a HP machine and has XP on the hard drive and the recovery feature is accessed with F10, HP doesnt supply recovery disks. Anyway, I ran the recovery/repair which after finishing at the Finish screen, would not go any further, XP would not start. It also would not start in any safe mode with message, installation incomplete, reinstall. I tried this several times with no luck.

So, I decided to do the format/reinstall but have a bunch valuable date I wish to save, so I removed the HD on the XP machine and put it into a 98 machine to see if I can copy the files. BIOS recognized the XP hard drive, but no drive letter was assigned by 98 even though I set the jumpers to slave.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Happy New Year.

any body know why a computer wont pick up my new hard drive?...it is a p2 350 mhz processor...old 20 gb drive died..it was a maxtor ata 133 hdd..the one i got for it now is a western digital 80 gb ide !keeps saying on boot up detecting primary master but it doesnt..tried all jumper settings is there something im not doing?

A:computer wont pick up hard drive

If you are installing this on the primary IDE cable and the cable is an 80-wire then the drive positioning is more important than a 40-wire.

The three connectors are as follows:

The connector farthest from the middle connector goes to the connector on the mother board

the middle connector is the one for the slave drive

the connector at the other end that is closest to the center connector is for the master drive

Since 80-wire IDE cables are wired specially the above is the only way that the drives will work properly and there is not diddly anyone can do about it.

As for the jumpers on the back of the hard drives this is another matter sometimes they do not work as they should since drives of different manufacturers have slight problems using these together when set supposedly in a proper way, the solution is to guess which way and this is tough I would suggest making a diagram and sritting the pins locations down when the shorting jumpers are applied.

It one took me three hours to figure the way the jumpers went but when the post booting sees the drives you should be set.

So i build a newcomputer yesterday.
I decided to use my old SATA hard drive from my computer, it has my OS, and other files on it.
I get everything put in, but when i start the computer it says "no hard disk is detected".

I enter the bios menu, and i notice it recognizes that it is in there, as well as my disk drive.

How come it wont let me load my hard drive, and it doesnt detect it when i start it up.. but BIOS sees that its there?
How do i fix it?

A:computer wont read EITHER hard drive

Hi,
To begin with - take the new parts out and configure the computer like it used to be before the upgrading. Check all the connections - especially inside the computer. Make sure everything's working in Windows.

Then - as a rule of thumb (at least my thumb ) - you can start putting new parts in ONE BY ONE checking that the computer works before you put the next part in.

I'm not sure whether your new parts are compatible with your computer or not - but'll look into it.

I currently have a 40GB Seagate Barracuda Hard Drive. I have an old 12GB Fujitsu hard drive that I want to put in for the slave drive. When I load up my computer with both hard drives connected. I tries loading up my old fujitsu and not my current seagate.

Does this mean that my seagate has always been set to slave? If so how do I change it to the master and the fujitsu to the slave.
If there is a way without involving the jumpers please tell me

I plan on using the 12GB for games and the 40GB for large downloaded files and a LOT of music. Oh and by the way the fujitsu has been formatted (NFTS) and has nothing on it. (not even 8mb of partioned space, (if this helps))

Thanks a lot in advance.

A:Computer wont recognize current hard drive

You will have to set the Seagate as Master or "Master with Slave present", using the jumper(s) on the rear of the HD.
These settings can be found on top of your HD.

The Fujitsu will need to be set as Slave, same procedure. This latter HD is very small by today's standards and will probably fill up quite rapidly.

I just restored my computer to factory settings and it had me do an asus update (its an asus laptop) and now when ever I press the power botton I get a blank black screen no cursor or anything and my fan spins at full speed. I've had this problem in the past, but I do not remember how to fix it. I've tried unplugging everything and holding the power button for 30 seconds to a minute but that did not work.

I was on my desktop I think with not even a browser opened then suddenly lots of window error messages popped up saying a problem with a file in system folder I got pretty scared at that point and Virus or failed drive? Computer boot. hard wont planned to take a Computer wont boot. Virus or failed hard drive? screenshot but when I Computer wont boot. Virus or failed hard drive? went to start menu the paint program I usually go to wasn t listed so decided not to That s when a new error popped up but only once saying your hard drive has crashed or something like that I turned off my computer at that point and turned it back on but now it would only go to black screen thing that says something like Sec Master Disk LBA GB DDR at Bank s Sec Slave Disk None IDE Channel Master Disk HDD S M A R T capability ENABLED at first it said disabled but I enabled it not sure what it does PCI Device Listing bus dev fun vendor device svid ssid class device class C USB Host Cntrlr etc lots of stuff similar to the last lineAfter trying to turn off and on my computer a few times I tried to enter safe mode by pressing f but it wouldnt go to that screen like normally just would go to that same black page with all that text Then I tried going to the bios and changing the boot order to different things Then tried changing any settings in the bios that might make it work In the bios I also did the auto detect HDD and it was able to detect the hard drive After that I opened up my computer to listen to the hard drive to make sure it was making weird noises like it was damaged it sounded normal like the rest of the stuff running in my computer Then I asked some people what they thought was the problem and they said it wasnt a hard drive failure like I thought but some virus that corrupted system files or something I then tried to use avg kaspersky booting from a flash drive but I got some quot syslinux no default ui or configuration error quot so wasnt able to test that They suggested I use my windows CD to repair but I lost that CD so wasnt able to do that and not sure what exact windows version I had I just know its windows vista x What I am planning on trying next is to try to format my USB or whatever to be able to boot properly some free OS to maybe try to repair my system files with some anti virus no idea if that is possible Anyway still not sure if its a harddrive failure some really bad virus or something else I also want to know do I have to have the exact windows version to repair properly Like would I be able to repair with a windows vista x when I have windows vista x OR will windows vista x home premium work with home basic not sure which I had OR would windows laptop repair cd be able to repair my windows vista x I already tried and I couldnt get it to work but still wondering I wont be able to buy a new cd for like a week so would rather do something else to fix it faster

Very confused here and not a hugely experienced IT person.

I decided to lean out the dust from inside my Alieware Aurora R3 today and so disconnected my hardrives (2 1tb drives in Raid 0) before putting them back after removing the dust. However I must have either connected the Sata cables to the wrong drives or put one in the wrong place or something, because now I can get past the boot screen on the computer

I have tried every combination of wires and putting them in this way or the other but still I get the Alienware bios boot screen, then it shows me the Intel information screen followed by a black screen with a cursor for a second...then just blank. THe computer continues to make noise but instantly turns off by pressing the shutdown button on the front.

What am I doing wrong here or what have I done wrong :/
Any help appreciated!!

I go to "properties" - "customize" and press "restore default" in the "folder pictures" section and then apply the new setting but it wont go away.
I tried to find this photo on the hard drive to delete it but i cant find it anywhere.

I've included some screens to show you what I mean:

Someone let me know how to sort this out please

drummerguy101, First go into Folder Options>View tab and choose "Show hidden files and folders" and uncheck "Hide protected operating system files {Recommended}", click Apply/OK then open that Desktop folder and find the Thumbs.db file, right click it and delete it and reboot your computer. You can then go back into Folder Options>View tab and reverse the changes you made if you wish to.

The reason for a reset was do to constant freezing and video lagging. There were several things that were ocurring. I had done scans to make sure is was not a virus issue before doing a factory reset.

I have checked services to make sure it was turned on.

I tried to upload a snipit to show you the error but for some reason it wont let me download it Argh! It should have downloaded.

Start by telling us why you want to do a reset. There may be an easier way to fix whatever the problem is. A reset should always be the final option, never the 1st. We also need to know the make/model of your computer or laptop.

here it is guys!

[YOU************//www.Fix Corrupted Icons and Shortcuts in Windows 7 8 or Vista - YouTube[/YOUTUBE]

All you have to do is go to your appdata>Local>IconCache.db (if you don't see it you'll have to enable hidden file in the Local folder "Properties when you right click the folder")
and then delete it.

Then you have to go on task manager>Processes tab and end task of "explorer.exe"
Then you have to go to the "Applications" tab and click new task button and restart explorer.exe by typing "explorer.exe"
Thats it!!! Hope it helped!!!

Hi all,

I really need some help, I bought a surface pro from a friend yesterday, it had been turned on before I got it so I thought I would reset to factory settings, all was fine until the reset was around 90%, then a box appeared saying "the computer has restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install windows, click OK to restart the installation".
But when it restarts the same message pops up.
Any help welcome as I really don't have a clue what to do now.

Many thanks

Hi there

I think you'll need to re-install Windows -- in the BIOS you can disable protected boot so you should be able to boot a new recovery USB for a Windows re-installation. There's tutorials on this site about making a recovery USB.

I have followed the tutorial on this site to reset the reliability history - trash RAC files etc. The graph clears ok but a few hours later back comes all the old problem. I am thinking there must be another file hidden away that is being accessed for the data. I would not be bothered normally but I check components on this test bed machine and it would be easier to see whats happening with a clean graph when I switch bits around.

Or erased them from the event viewer?

That was what I had to do to keep them from showing back up in a few hours.

This is a new K7SEM motherboard with new Win2K Pro install. It won't "software restart" such as in installing a program or going to START-SHUTDOWN-RESTART? It shuts down then just sits there with the fans running. However, when the power is turned off, then on a few seconds later, it will start perfectly and otherwise works fine! Any ideas on what might be wrong?

Oh, the board won't "reset" either and all connections are correct. I'm leaning toward a BIOS update--- except it has an 11/16/2002 Award bios --- or a bum board.

When i try factory resetting it says 'preparing' shortly after it says 'there was a problem while resetting your PC' and under it says 'No changes were made' and under that it says 'check problem for solution' and i click it and it exits out itself and nothing happens. i need to restore my laptop to factory settings because it has gone so slow and wont let me go out applications but when it does it freezes and is very slow message edited by HarrisZaman

A:i try to factory reset/restore my laptop but it wont let me

Do you really need to use Factory Restore, which loses all your own files? Maybe it would be best to tackle the slowness. As often as not (but not always) this is due to malware. I would suggest running these three small freebies which are safe and well used on Malware forums. They often unearth what your anti-virus can miss:AdwCleaner:http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/dow...(blue Download button near top - not anything else on the page).Download and "Save" the file somewhere. Go to the saved file then double click it to run the program. Use the "Scan" button, followed by the "Cleaning" button.Junkware Removal Tool (JRT)http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/dow...(blue Download button near top - not anything else on the page).Download and "Save" the file somewhere. Go to the saved file then double click it to run JRT. It might appear to have stopped at times or flash the screen but sit tight until it has finished.MalwareBytes:http://filehippo.com/download_malwa...(green Download button top right - not anything else on the page)Install and Run the program but before doing its Scan go to "Settings > Detection and Protection" and put a checkmark in "Scan for rootkits". Quarantine anything it finds. Please copy/paste the logs on here. Even if the symptoms go away further checks might be necessary to ensure your computer is properly clean. Also let us know if there is any improvement afterwards.EDIT:If you can't run them Save the download files on another computer then transfer them over to the one giving trouble using a flash drive.Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Hey guys i recently joined this forum to try and figure out if i can solve my problem with my system So sorry its a long story heh wont always stable bootup Cmos and on run reset This comptuer is a little over years old To start off here are the specs Asus a n sli-deluxe motherboard new castle cpu crucial ballistix x gb PC ram eVga GTS mb video card Western Digital raptor gb k rpm antec true psu Ok this randomly happened one day I tried to press the on button and start up my machine Cmos always reset on bootup and wont run stable but it just wouldnt start Everything got power but no beeps or anything and would just sit there I turned off the power switch in the back of the PSU and turned it back on and booted fine BUT it said that my CMOS has been reset press f to continue So i m like thats weird and disregarded it I used the pc like normal and i started to get random blue screens of death and my system would crash At first i thought it was the cmos battery dying or something like that so i went to radio shack and picked one up and stuck it in but same problem The thing is even if windows doesnt crash and i choose to quot restart quot or quot turn off quot my system it would not turn off Windows would shut down fine but everything in my case is stilled powered up forcing me to manually shut down my computer When i do so and try to start it back up same problem happens the cmos has been reset So basically everytime i turn on the system the cmos gets reset and i HAVE to turn off and on the power switch in the back of the psu everytime i want to start my system up I started thinking that maybe it was a messed up driver or something along those lines so i formatted my harddrive and tried to reinstall windows but the same problems i had prior to formatting was occuring once again I have tried different video cards and different hard drives but the same problems were still occuring Asus sent me different bios chips and that did not solve the problem either I have tried actually resseting the cmos myself and that did not work I also tried replacing the PSU thinking the system wasnt getting enough juice but that didnt not help I then thought it was my motherboard so i sent it into asus for rma but when they returned it to me they said nothing was wrong with it I am beginning to think perhaps my CPU is dying or both the sticks of ram are faulty in some way I have been agrivating over this for about half a year now but never really had time to solve it all the way I feel like ive tried almost everything but nothing solution works Any ideas on whats going on any help would be GREATLY appreciated Thanks again guys Edited by kisarci AM nbsp

My wife and daughter accidentally deleted my windows 8.1 partition along with all restore points on my hard drive. So after a long time with help from a mod on this website, it was decided a factory reset was in order. I did the factory reset, i loaded windows 8, I went ahead removing factory installed mcafee, when it came time to restart i did so. On the immediate boot up my system will not load. The screen goes between flashing light and dark black. Any ideas of what this could be? I am able to get into the BiOS screen but do not know what to select.
I have a Dell Inspiron 660 moved into a after market case. the entire system was working smooth until this all happened with the windows 8.1 being deleted. I just bought this system 6 months ago and am really hoping I dont have to buy a new one. any help is most appreciated.

I did a factor reset on my computer because i was having some issues, now when i go to start it up it will bring up a message saying something to the extent of not being able to start because it doesnt have windows on it. So my guess is that during the reset it deleted my windows 7 off the computer. I cannot even get to the sign in screen and i dont think my computer came with a restore disc, also i definatly dont want to pay another 200 dollars for a windows 7 disc. Also another thing against me is that my computer is a dvd r only it has not read a software disc that i put in it to download a game. Any ideas for a solution? all responses are well appreciated.

So i did the option on windows 10 to reset and clean my pc. It got stuck at 5 percent so I did a manual reset and when i turned it on it had a black screen. It says "an operating system wasnt found. Try disconnecting drives that dont contain an operating system. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart" when i dud that it said the same thing so i went to the start up menu and pressed f11 and it went back to that black screen saying an operating system wasnt found. Help asap!
